A magazine slapped down onto the table and Eddie dropped into his seat just a moment later.  "Gentlemen!  We enter into a new month, it is time for the ritual."

"The ritual," Dougie and Jeff echoed, rehearsed.

"Not the ritual," Gareth groaned, stabbing at his lunch.  "It's going to be the same as last month, it always is."

"...what's the ritual?" Lucas asked, saying it slowly like Eddie might yell at him for asking.

"Oh, horoscopes!"  Eddie opened the magazine with a grin, paging through it and clicking his tongue.  "Hopefully no plagues are written in the stars."

"Horoscopes."  Mike looked at him flatly.  They'd only been sitting at the Hellfire Club table for a week now, and in that week, horoscopes hadn't been mentioned once.  "You believe in that shit?"

"Nah.  My mama loved 'em though.  And it's kinda fun."  He tapped the magazine on the table and cleared his throat.  "We enter Libra season, may it be prosperous for our resident Libras!"  He gestured to Gareth and Jeff.  "It says here that Love is within reach!  You just need to be brave enough to grasp it."

Gareth glanced at Jeff and scoffed.  "Total bull."

Jeff grinned.  "I don't know.  Eddie, is this your little ploy to confess your long buried feelings for me?"  He fluttered his eyelashes and blew a kiss."

"You want to be my type so bad it almost makes me love you," Eddie teased as he leaned in just a little closer.

Dustin balked and Mike had gone pink, staring down at his sandwich and refusing to look up from it.  Gareth rolled his eyes again and gestured to the boys.  "What are you guys?  What are your signs?"

"How am I supposed to know that?"  Lucas still seemed a little confused.  "Is it like... by month?  My birthday's in April."

"Early or late?  What day?"  Eddie tapped at the pages.  "That'll make you either an Aries or a Taurus."

"The 8th.  Early."

"Aries!  According to your horoscope, you'll need to be brave and face your fears in the coming month.  An emotional cold front is coming your way, young one."

Lucas glanced over his shoulder towards another table, where Max was sitting with her hood up, staring out the window at the overcast sky.  "I'm pretty sure I've been facing an emotional cold front for a while already."

Dustin leaned forward curiously.  "I'm a Pisces, what does it say for that?"

"Why do you know that?" Mike asked, some of his initial standoffish-ness worn away.

"Steve and Robin have this game where they make up terrible horoscopes for each other."  He shrugged.  "Robin's a Pisces too, and Steve is a Cancer."

Eddie hummed.  "Pisces, huh?"  He too a bite of his apple.  "Be extra cautious with your belongings.  Damn, looks like someone is going to rob you, Henderson.  So the stars decree."

"So the stars decree," Dougie and Jeff echoed.

"I hate it when you guys do that."  Gareth threw a chip at Jeff's head.

"Why do you think we do it?"  Jeff grinned and threw the chip back.  "Come on, Eddie, what's Dougie's?  Something about doom and gloom, right?  Something about how he's gonna die?"  He laughed as Dougie kicked him under the table.

"Well, our fiery Aries friend will be facing- oh."  Eddie's eyes widened a little.  "It's actually not doom and glooom this month.  Keep your aim true to your goals, even when progress is slow."

"Oh."  Dougie nodded, considering.  "That actually is kind of nice.  I can live with that."

Eddie chuckled and turned his gaze to Mike, cocking his head with a smirk.  "And you?  Let me guess, fire sign.  You're probably an Aries too.  Or a Leo?"

Mike shrugged.  "I don't know, end of December."

"After the 22nd?"

"Yeah."

"Capricorn, then.  ...seriously?  You're an earth sign?"

Mike squirmed a little under his stare.  "Thought you said you didn't believe in this crap."

Eddie shrugged.  "There's a little bit of truth to everything.  That's what mama thought."  He looked at the magazine and snickered.  "This month may test your patience."

Mike hunched in on himself, glaring at Lucas when he tried to pat his shoulder.  "Most months get on my nerves.  This is stupid."

"Aw, he's like a baby raven," Dougie teased before elbowing Eddie.  "Alright, come on man, what's yours?"

"The most important horoscope!  Let's see here, Cancer says... I am invincible and nothing can bring me down.  Damn right!"

"Let me see that."  Jeff snatched the magazine from Eddie.  "...oh.  What do you know."

"The stars are in alignment for a good month ahead."  Eddie chuckled and took the magazine back.  He tapped it on the table before tucking it into his bag.  "The ritual has been completed!"

"The ritual has been completed!"  Gareth grinned as Jeff rolled his eyes.

"This is why everyone thinks we're satanists, you know-"

"Let the people think what they want, they're just mad I don't read them their horoscopes."

these are written predominantly for the *rising* signs but they are also intuitively "channeled" enough that they should work for any dominant energy you have! (try your sun if you don't know rising, or more advanced readers can try moon, anywhere you have a stellium, etc and see what works best for you!)

aries: a boost from ceres and venus conjoining in sagittarius really helps you to cope with any angst during the move of BOTH the sun and pluto into aquarius. a possible catch: you may need to do less friend-time and more study-time or spirit-time. consider the temporary monastic life.

taurus: you may be inadvertently about to become the family genealogist or wise woman/medicine man figure. you're out there breaking ancestral curses without even meaning to. it requires digging things up from long ago, a strange form of metaphorical necromancy, but the fruits and harvest resulting are bountiful and you see the results early, starting this week.

gemini: this is a dazzling week for you if you have, or want to have, a committed relationship. on the other hand, pluto into aquarius for almost the entire year with just a brief retrograde dip back into capricorn in several months can be jarring, or more than jarring. tectonic shifts occur in your academic and spiritual realms.

cancerians: you're no stranger to plutonic antics in your 7th house. they reach a dramatic peak with the sun on pluto at the very end of capricorn. hopefully if you've needed to take out any loans or similar financial moves, you've already done so. it's about to be a really, really bad time to have debt. for a long time. but on the bright side relationships get much easier! it will seem like it's easier than it's ever been. and that's also a long-haul transit.

leo: i always try to find the bright side in everything and i think most leos are like this too. but let's not sugarcoat things. this week sees both your ruler, the sun, and heavyweight underworld lord pluto moving into your opposite sign of aquarius. the sun is considered debilitated there, kind of dimming your shine, and pluto is, you know, the way that it is. so do not expect an easy season going forth, but do expect major changes to occur. and it's good and right to be optimistic about such changes.

virgo: if you don't make changes to your routine, pluto will do it for you. might as well make them as productive and sacred and comfortable!!! as you can. ease gently into a new ritual. fortunately ceres is so well-aspected this week that you'll have a lot of help doing so. try to implement changes that can last and benefit you for many years. if you don't plan to continue to use them forever, at least make them flexible.

libra: aquarius season is GOOD for librans. pluto into aquarius might seem... less good. but many librans have issues with people-pleasing, over-romanticizing, etc, and at least pluto is bound to shake up those tendencies. try to go with, not against it.

scorpio: when your ruling planet pluto changes sign it is always a big deal for everyone but especially for you. as aquarius season gets underway so too does pluto move into aquarius. maybe you are ready, after all this teasing at the end of capricorn, or maybe it's a shove in a direction you still don't feel prepared to go. either way, you have those new aquarius (4th house for most of you) vibes for almost a solid year to come. might as well embrace it, or at least accept it.

sagittarius: many good and wonderful things occur for you this week. try to appreciate them, because you may also feel uncomfortable upheaval in your local community, or drama with siblings or like your texts never go quite right for a while. it's a good time to write, but no one else needs to see it if you don't want them to.

capricorn: you are ALMOST done with pluto in your sign for good so don't despair when your solar season wraps up! there will be one more brief retrograde dip of the king of the underworld into your sign late in 2024. and while many fear pluto's influence, for you? pluto in aquarius is all about BIG wealth and value.

aquarius: the sun moves into your sign and pluto follows hot on its heels. or you know, at the slow and thunderous pace pluto always takes. you did have a taste of this briefly earlier in the year. the real deal begins now, with pluto in your sign well outlasting the sun there, until mid-september. he promptly returns in november, then to stay for decades. so there's no point resisting his company. basically you ARE pluto now, or at least a little more like persephone. welcome to the underworld.

pisces: we enter a week which is not particularly supportive to pisceans and even includes a square to neptune as pluto heads for your 12th house. you will have to do some magic/alchemy to make it work, but that can be very potent. it's just going to take a pile of impure lead before you can get the gold out.

Hekate: Goddess of The Eclipse Talon Abraxas

Eclipses are such a powerful time to explore darkness, so very Hekatean in their essence for they not only either dim the world or occur at night when they are visible, but are also liminal times. As part of my personal studies, I reflect on experiences during the previous eclipses to see how they brought powerful medicine to me.

Eclipses are generally turning points, a type of Nyssa experience (refer to Entering Hekate's Garden if you are unfamiliar with that term). As Hekateans, the MOON will always be highly influential since we are naturally attuned to it's powers: emotions, intuition, magic(k), mystery. They are sacred events when we can behold the majesty of the universe, and Hekate Anima Mundi, with awe and wonder.

Generally, I recommend connecting to the eclipse in a more intuitive manner during the precise times, such as contemplative work of devotion (see prayer below), and reserving spells and rituals for hours before/after. Viewing eclipses in person is deeply spiritual experience, which I have been fortunate enough to have many times.

Understanding Eclipses: Significance and Characteristics

I don't feel the need to say more about their significance, especially to us Hekateans. This quote, and the entire scholarly article linked above, says it all.

2024 Eclipse Cycle

The 2024 Eclipse Cycle begins with the Libra Full Moon in March, and concludes with the Libra New Moon in October. For many of us living in North America, the Spring Eclipse Season brings us a very special total solar eclipse, a rare treat. Keep in mind that solar eclipses happen twice a year, so although this one may be more personally relevant because we can see it, it is in keeping with the natural cycle.

Eclipse seasons happen at the opposite side of the zodiacal calendar, as illustrated in the Covina graphic above. Since our calendar is lunar, twice a year we start a new moon month on an eclipse.

Beyond the full Aries solar eclipse on April 8, another unique astrological event in 2024 is that there are two Capricorn Full Moon's during the summer, which results in an unusual third Libra eclipse.

vibe check for the month! life is hard right now for a lot of reasons, but keeping an open mind and open heart is the way to go. the month starts out relatively serious, sentimental even, with a triple conjunction between the sun, mercury and saturn in dreamy pisces trining the moon in scorpio and forming a sextile to jupiter in taurus. it's a great time to note down your reflections on the month prior, where you're at, where you want to go... daydream a little, it's good for the soul. if you're feeling low in energy this week, that's okay, take a little time to rest and recuperate for the month ahead.

after this weekend things start ramping up, culminating in the pisces new moon on the 9th - this conjunction forms a sextile to uranus in taurus, helping to balance out some of the sombre sensitivity this new moon can bring. if you haven't had chance to figure out your goals for the month yet, now is the perfect time to solidify them and start working on them. what's one thing (no matter how small it may seem) you can do to get closer to your dreams?

the new moon really feels like a new beginning this month, as immediately afterwards mercury ingresses into aries; conjunct the moon and sextile pluto in aquarius, this is a transit that makes me think of a sudden, lightning-bolt kind of realisation. whatever you're coming to terms with or starting to work on lately, this might speed up the process, bringing you almost-uncomfortably close to mastering an aspect of yourself or your life. venus soon ingresses into pisces, softening and smoothing out after a month of being in cerebral aquarius. this is much needed now we're working our way towards the firecracker that is aries season.

speaking of aries season... looking at the transits, i was struck by how much potential there is this month, especially in the latter half, for conflict and arguments. if i can give some advice, i'd say to think before you speak, consider keeping a journal to reflect on situations, rather than bottling it all up and then exploding, and focus on yourself right now. don't mind what other people are doing wherever possible, and stay calm when dealing with conflict or stress - easier said than done, i know. at the same time, there is a lot of potential for really enlightening conversation, full of honesty and vulnerability. choose wisely who to open up to, but don't be afraid to communicate openly in general.

the full moon in libra, hitting on the 25th, kind of wraps march up. the sun forms a sextile to pluto in aquarius, while the moon trines it, which is an interesting little triangle for sure. that sudden realisation i mentioned earlier? maybe now is the time to put the issue to bed, if you can of course. consider a ritual to let go of whatever it is, there are lots to choose from but i'm personally a fan of writing it down and then burning or washing it away. burning feels more appropriate given the elements at work here, but whatever feels best to you is the best method for you. all in all, this month is full of opportunity and expression, but isn't a month to share every thought you have with every person you meet. enjoy your march, and take care! xo
