#fic rec: complete condor by vexfulfolly #batfam big bang #I did change these two at the LAST MOMENT as to which was upright and which was reversed #becasue visually it seemed better with robin jay as reversed and hood as upright #but thematically. much more the opposite #upright is about being trapped in a shitty situation and being unaware of or powerless to change it #generally in reference to addiction and abuse- both parts of Jason’s character esp pre-death #whereas reversed is closer to like… becoming aware of these and starting to fight against it #which is very much the entirety of jays character as red hood #so I did change them #i also take a little bit of twisted joy in the idea that it looks like jason is trapping himself #because in a way he is- he’s continuing the cycle and is still stuck in that warehouse and in a way he always will be #because he’s never given the chance to properly heal and recover by both the other characters and himself (and bad writing)#which again. very thematically on point with this card #sorry to anyone hoping/expecting for Jason to be Death but I think the Devil is crueller in a way too #dc comics #fanart #jason todd #robin #red hood #batfam #tma #the magnus archives #tarot cards #tarot art #my scribbles #cw blood #tw blood

daisy vs. elias is my favourite s3 scene because i enjoy both of them as fictional characters, and i disagree with both of them on a moral level. ceo vs. cop. daisy walks in and immediately calls him a weird little freak. elias immediately starts reading her like a book. she does not hesitate for a second to threaten him with police brutality. both of them are doing horrible things in this scene and i am so glad that they're doing them to each other

it’s 3am and i’ve spent the past few hours drawing a bunch of doodles of me and anton hanging out together like we’re the bestest of friends because it’s my art and i can draw whatever i want forever

What do we think Jon would think of How The fandom sees him? And I don't mean this in a pedantic "oh fandom bad because dumbed down and Insert Petty Headcanon Disagreement"

I mean this entirely in a "How would Jon, The man who believes himself to be an Irredeemable monster who is to blame for everything that ever went wrong, react to Just so so many people listening to his shortcommings and ultimately seeing his side"

Like yeah everyone agrees he's kind of an asshole sometimes but he is so beloved by The fans?

I'm sure some people did but I've never seen anyone doubting his humanity or blaming him for the horrors™ he Just clearly understood as his fault? Like yeah Martin tried telling him it wasn't but what I'm getting at is

I love to think about what Jon would do If he saw just the ocean of people who listened to (what he considers to be)

the most unsympathetic person in the world becoming a monster and making choices that brought the literal apocalypse upon humanity

and pretty much everyone saying "he did the best anyone could reasonably expect and he is not a bad person for being caught in the crossfire of an impossible situation with no good solutions"

remember that time in mag 187 a lady grabbed jon in fear and he shouted and presumably pushed her away? and everyone and their mother defended jon's humanity because that was a textbook trauma response i think he would break down crying if he saw that

#this was brought to you by my sleep deprived brain #im just im like just #everyone is always mad at him for not taking enought initiative or sulking or making decisions for others #and i love him so much #he is probably the character that makes me the most un-normal he is Masterfully written #And he hates himself so much and so many people in podcast feed his insecurities back to him #It makes sense they're all hurt and he doesn't always make the best decisions.#there's nothing he can do to make it right enought by other people #and everyone thinks he is doing a bad job at being an unwilling participant of this fucked up power system #again it makes SENSE they didn't ask for that either and jon is the mascot of the eye #he is both a scapegoat and a sacrificial lamb #if jonah that crusty old man ever did anything truky smart it was making jon eldritch middle management #like yeah everyone hates him more but most of the time he is untouchable so jon tajes all the heat #wich helps isolating him more and making it easier to manipulate him #everyone praised or at least had some resigned respect for gertrude and her actions. but that's because she is almost imaginary to them #the characters obsviously don't enjoy being in the middle of this either and jon is the only one with some form of real power there #(that's more or less on their side at least)#ough #yeaouh #nnahoughh even #we we criticize jon from time to time #but i really love that most people are willing to fight tooth and nail to defend him #he is just such a human character and despiste everything that happens he is so very clearly just a person who is trying #the character ever #all I'm saying is i would like to know how jon would react to not one not two #but thousands of people who are able to see him and understand he shouldn't to be a perfect victim #the magnus archives #tma #jonathan sims

This year, I'll be offering one typesetting auction in the Rusty Quill Gaming, Magnus Archives, or Malevolent fandom! You can find more information about my auction (and the bidding form once bidding opens!) here. Essentially, I will typeset one fic of your choosing (pending author permission if you are not the author), including any fanart (pending artist permission) that you would like included if applicable! I will also, separate from the official PDF deliverable typeset, bind and send you a physical copy of the book.

So essentially, if you would like a hand-bound copy of a fanfic along with a fully formatted file that you can use to print and bind your own copy, this is the auction for you!

#tma #the magnus archives #jon sims #jonathan sims #scottish safehouse period #I like to think that Martin made him the cat mug in a pottery class #some little things that I imagine with this drawing that you can't really tell:#His glasses do not have frames because I don't think that he would need them by this point #but he still wanted to wear some to feel more normal #plus without the lenses they won't smudge!#Martin both cut his hair a bit and painted his nails (also he has ear piercings)#jon wanted to keep his hair longer but it was getting a bit put of hand and wasn't well kept during season four #so he had Martin trim it so it would be nicer #the nail polish and ear rings are simply because they vibed #I definitely was not projecting onto him #noooo not at all #my art
