what do you think chrissy would think of the other party members and how she interacts with them?
Nancy: Starting with Nancy because I feel like she is the one who Chrissy would know the most before, since they’re both pretty popular and in the same grade. I’m actually going to headcanon that they were best friend (or close friends) in elementary and part of middle school but drifted apart. So when Chrissy joins the hawkin’s party, the both of them are really happy to rekindle their friendship.
Robin: I’m honestly not lying when I tell you if we had gotten even one intersection between them I would’ve been their biggest shopper, the only reason I’m more tame is because I have to imagine their dynamic and all their interactions, but if I didn’t actually have to put effort into imagining and I had it right there in front of me you would’ve completely lost me. So it’s difficult to talk about them without my shipping goggles because I just imagine Robin being completely in love with Chrissy and Chrissy being one of the only party members that actually tolerates Robin’s rambling and actually finds it endearing and she is constantly holding her hand in the upside down because she knows that Robin said she has trouble with her balance so she wants to make sure she feels safe but also holding Robin’s hand brings Chrissy comfort too, so it’s a win win.
Steve: First let me just get it out there that I headcanon that Chrissy would’ve had a crush on Steve when he was a senior, since he was one of the most popular boys in school and he’s really nice. But that’s when she was like 16 years old and she’s completely over it now but she mentions it in passing and Eddie thinks he’s got to compete with Steve now but if he should be worried about anyone it’s Robin (I’m sorry I’m always pushing the buckingham agenda I can’t help it) anyway Steve and Chrissy would be besties. The two popular kids who always felt more comfortable and accepted by the “nerds and freaks” (cue a simultaneous offended “heyyyy!!” from Eddie, Dustin and Robin)
Dustin: She loves him straight away, who wouldn’t? He’s the best character ever, impossible to dislike. She becomes yet another one of his adopted parents or older siblings (whichever you prefer) and while Eddie and Steve have the divorced parents dynamic, Chrissy is definitely his favourite. She’s constantly making sure he is okay and while Steve and Eddie are ganging up and calling him a butthead, she’s defending him.
Max: Max just got herself a new big sister. Since Chrissy and Max are going through the exact same thing, they’re literally the only other person each of them can talk to who fully understands what they’re going through and how they’re feeling. So I imagine that they have a lot of quiet talks alone and are constantly checking in on each other. But it also let’s them feel brave, for each other, because they don’t want to say that they feel like they might die in front of the other because they don’t want to scare each other so it allows them both to be hopeful and optimistic. Chrissy is the only person not from the OG party that Max writes a letter for.
Lucas: Oh boy the conversation they would have about Jason. As someone who considered him a friend, maybe even idolised him a little bit and someone who dated him but both eventually realised he isn’t as great as he seems, they’ll be able to relate to each other over that. I think it might be Lucas who would encourage Chrissy to go for it with Eddie because he tells her how awful he has felt since he’s lost Max and he tells her how much he wants her back, so Chrissy makes it her mission to try and get the two of them back together.

Linger (Hermit Tommy AU)
(A discussion about scars. This one has been in the bucket for a long time, and it's finally done! Enjoy!!)
TW: Permanent injury, bodily harm, scars, overdose mention
-
Tommy's in pain.
The hermits mistook his ever tense posture for wariness, his pinched expression seeming only a front to those Tommy distrusted. They hope it will ease with time, and they are patient.
They turn out to be right. Slowly, Tommy gets used to them, relaxes, smiles more and yells less.
But he's still tense, and his face still twists occasionally in what the hermits start to realize is hurt rather than intimidation after completing simple tasks like lifting shulker boxes.
It's False who notices Tommy's not right handed.
He's a damn good fighter, as dirty as his shots are and as rough his technique is. Tommy fights like his life depends on it, and in that situation there's no room for fancy footwork or skillful swordplay. But looking impressive is not a requirement for being good at PVP, and the scuffed up teenager is a prime example of that.
Tommy's scars are evidence that he just encountered someone better.
Besides his crude offensive, False notices he's also clumsy. Tommy always draws his weapon with his left, and yes, he switches to his right as soon as it's in his hand, but as sporadic as Tommy likes to be, that doesn't add up.
False sees him get jumped by a creeper, once, and in the miniscule time alloted to attack, Tommy drew and swung with his left. Instinctually.
False then sees him grimace when the creeper explodes, and he drops his weapon to knead his left shoulder. That is when it clicks.
"Tom." False tries to sound casual on break from sparring with the kid the next day, watching him carefully from her periphery while she feigns busying herself with her water bottle.
Tommy grunts in acknowledgment, and False takes a breath.
"How come you always switch to your right when you're fighting?" She treads carefully. Tommy doesn't like it when the hermits pry, and he definitely doesn't like it when they're as observant of him as False is.
Thankfully, it doesn't look like Tommy reads into the question too much. "I'm right handed." He says simply, and False knows it's a lie, but his nonchalance would absolutely fool her if she didn't know the truth.
Now is when False would normally nod, and change the subject. But Tommy's hurting, and a part of her just can't let that go.
"See, you're not." False says lightly, abandoning all pretense. Tommy tenses next to her, more than he already is.
"You draw with your left. You wouldn't do that if you were right handed. Why don't you fight like that?" False asks. She doesn't grill him on how he got hurt, or why he hides it. She's being risky enough as is with her flat-out asking, and she's not certain she'll get an answer from the kid if she pushes any further.
Tommy swallows, and his left hand flexes unconsciously. "It, uh. Hurts." Tommy says. False waits patiently.
"I got hit. There. By a Wither, y'know." Tommy continues, and False finally feels a different emotion than calm worry. Sympathy and slight horror twist in her chest, and she's thankful she doesn't need to speak so Tommy can keep talking.
But he doesn't talk, and instead pulls off his shirt in the most difficult way possible since he moves his left arm as little as he can. False's eyes widen as blackened skin is revealed, spreading over the poor kid's entire left shoulderblade and down his arm and chest, dangerously close to his heart. If False were to touch it, she'd know the skin would be cold and dead, barely hanging on to Tommy's body anymore.
False lets out a horrified breath instead, feeling as if the wind got knocked out of her lungs.
There is no cure for being withered, if you don't have milk on hand directly after a hit. Those marks stay with you for life.
But Tommy is 16. Tommy has barely started his life, and he's already bearing an injury that will last with him until the end of his time. False feels bile rise in her throat. Whether it's cause of grief or anger, she can't tell. All she knows is that Withers aren't made on accident. There is a story here.
A story she has no right to know.
"Gods, Tommy, I'm--I'm sorry." False utters helplessly, because she just doesn't know what else to say. Tommy stiffens.
"Not your fault." He says curtly, his words edged with a familiar tone of sharpness that he takes when he feels someone is taking pity on him. False scrambles to save the situation.
"Scar's had some run ins with a Wither. Impulse, too." False comments, and pretends not to see Tommy's face flicker in surprise.
"I'm sure they have some tips, if you're interested." False continues, holding back the desperation she feels with every drop of willpower she possesses to not scare Tommy off. "You'd be a much better fighter if you could use both hands." She adds gently, and a wave of relief crashes over her as Tommy's eyes light up with recognition of opportunity.
Tommy utters an eerily mischievous laugh that False can't help but smile at. "Ohhh-ho, I'm gonna be so fuckin' powerful--they call me dual blade Innit!! I'm gonna dual blade your ass!"
False laughs out loud at that, the icy horror in her chest loosening for only a moment. "Void help us." She comments sarcastically. "Go on then, see Scar first. He's got magic crystals that I hear are good to help pain."
Tommy's face flickers, so quickly that False barely sees it before it's gone. But the expression was bare exhaustion, a kind of weariness that False has never really seen before.
False could guess that Tommy's been in pain for most of his life. No wonder he's tired. No wonder he nearly overdosed on gapples for the absorption they provided when exposed to the hermit's infinite supply. No wonder he doesn't move quickly unless he has to.
Several things click into place as Tommy pulls his shirt back over his head, and the conclusion leaves a lead weight in False's gut.
It's not her business to know what happened to this boy barely old enough to attend MCC that gave him lifetimes of scars both inside and out. She knows her fellow hermits who have been her friends for years have secrets they will never share, and she's made her peace with that a long time ago. For Tommy, it's no different.
But as False watches him gingerly make his way down from the top of her base to the portal, she just wants to know why that fate was seemingly a deserving one for a child to bear.
END.

Fractured Family - Matthew Tkachuk
Tumblr media
Chapter 1:
A/N: So this is the first time I have ever written literally anything. If you have any suggestions or feedback just let me know! I kinda want to make this a series, so if you are interested or have any suggestion on where to take this story I’m all ears!
Next Chapter —>
Summary: You and Matthew had a long history, dating for two years, until you guys “mutually” decided to split. It was civil and seemed liked the best option at the time. But shortly after splitting, you found out you were pregnant with Reign and everything in your life, including your relationship with Matt, became more complicated. (Flashbacks are in italics.)
Word count: 3293 words
It was really late at night and you just wanted to get your son to sleep. Him being only 3 months old, it was hard to get a consistent sleep schedule going, especially when you were sharing custody with someone who lives a completely different lifestyle than you.
After spending two nights with his father, your sons usual 10 minute bedtime routine turned into a long, drawn out, difficult ordeal, that you would be trying to correct for the next week. And once he was finally adjusted back to your routine, he was off to stay with his father again to continue the never ending cycle.
You rocked Reign in his chair for almost 40 minutes and finally settled him down enough to lay him back in his crib. You reached over to the changing table and turned the sound machine on, hoping that it would put him to sleep for even just a little while. You needed a break from the loud crying.
Walking over to the dresser sitting by the door, you grab the baby monitor and walked out towards the kitchen.
You mindlessly stared at your phone as you made your way down the hall. Distracted by your new notifications, you hadn’t noticed the handsome young man still sitting at your island waiting for you to return.
“Y/n/n”
“Oh my god, Matthew you scared me” you shouted, dropping your phone as your body jumped slightly from the shock of seeing someone unexpected in your apartment.
“I thought you left already, what are you still doing here” you continued as you picked your phone up off the ground, checking to make sure the screen wasn’t cracked.
You were caught off guard and slightly confused because Matt always left right after dropping your son off. You two had an arrangement that worked, minimal interaction that only revolved around your son. So when Matt was still lingering around your apartment almost and hour after dropping your son off, you couldn’t help but let your mind travel to the worst case scenario.
“Did something happen today with Reign?” You asked before he had a chance to respond to your first question.
You and Matt had a long history, dating for two years, until you guys “mutually” decided to split. It was civil-ish and seemed liked the best option at the time. But shortly after splitting, you found out you were pregnant with Reign and everything in your life, including your relationship with Matt, became more complicated.
“You should have been honest with me from the start then” you screamed at your boyfriend. You had been arguing for what felt like forever with no end in sight.
“I didn’t know what I wanted at the time y/n” he calmly responded “Fuck, I still don’t even know what I want, but I know its not fair to you, to keep going the way we are”. You two had been talking about where you see your relationship going in the future and this was the first time Matthew was really opening up to you.
As much as you begged Matt to express his emotions more over the course of your relationship, this time you wished he had kept them to himself.
“Y/n, you want to take the next step in this relationship and I’m not ready. I don’t know why I’m not ready but you are and I can’t hold you back.” Matthew sounded so sincere that you almost believed this was what you wanted too. “You need someone who is gonna take that step with you” key word was almost.
The past couple of weeks you had been hinting that you wanted to move in with Matt. You loved him and were sure you wanted to start the next chapter of your life with him. You never thought in a million years this would be his reaction but maybe you pushed him too much? Or maybe this was inevitable and he wasn’t looking at you as a long term investment. Whatever the reason, you now regretted even bringing it up.
“Okay, so two years down the drain I guess” you said as you rolled your tear filled eyes. His face fell at your words, he truly did love you and just wanted you to be happy. You were looking for forever and he admitted to not being ready for that kind of commitment. Instead of continuing a relationship that seemed to be at a stand still, the only option at this point was to end it. You weren’t going to sit there and beg him, you had too much pride to do that.
“I’ll just pack my shit and go” you walked past him to his bedroom to collect all the things that no longer belonged in his space. You almost expected him to follow after you, to fight for your relationship, but he didn’t, which hurt your heart even more. So you continued to pack up the things that had migrated from your apartment to his over the two years of being together. Your thoughts were now consumed with figuring out how you were going to move on and find someone to spend the rest of your life with, while he continued to live the bachelor lifestyle he was all so famous for.
Even though you rarely voiced it in your two years of being together, you were madly in love with him and broken hearted that he wasn’t willing to put in the effort to make your relationship work. You left his bedroom and made your way down the hallway, past the living room where Matthew was still sat, and out the front door with your bags in tow. You didn’t bother glancing back at him, out of fear you might do or say something you would regret.
2 weeks later…
You woke up and still hadn’t gotten your period. Your period had never been even a day late since you got it back in the 7th grade, so waking up for a 4th day in a row with no period, was worrisome. You didn’t think there was even a chance you were pregnant since you were on birth control, so you made an appointment with your gyno to ensure everything was okay. You were convinced it was just the stress of your recent breakup that was causing this irregularity in your cycle, but you couldn’t be sure without getting checked out first.
...
You pulled up to your doctors office for your appointment feeling extremely anxious. You just wanted to get it over with so you could stop stressing and go back to feeling sorry for yourself for getting broken up with.
You sat in the waiting room for what felt like an eternity. You scrolled through Instagram and somehow found yourself on Matthew’s page. It was definitely an unhealthy habit you had picked up since splitting. You couldn’t help it though, he was following new ig models everyday and in a sick way, you liked to compare yourself to them. It was a reminder that you weren’t what Matt wanted and Matt couldn’t be what you wanted anymore.
“y/n y/l/n” you looked up from your phone as your name was called “We’re ready for you”
You followed the nurse back to a bathroom located right next door to the exam room you usually got checked out in. The nurse handed you a cup to pee in, as you usually did at these types of appointments, and instructed you to change into a gown in exam room #2 once you finished up in the bathroom.
After you changed into the gown, the nurse came back to collect your sample and left you sitting on the exam table as you scrolled on your phone again, waiting for Dr. Cooper to come in.
“Y/n, congratulation you’re pregnant” Dr. Cooper walked in holding your charts. You had been going to Dr. Cooper since you were 16 and you had built a nice relationship through the years, talking about your personal lives and future plans during appointments. He was aware of your long term relationship with Matthew and by his enthusiastic tone and happy energy, it was clear that he was unaware of your recent breakup. You obviously didn’t expect him to know, the breakup was new and you only see him a couple times out of the year.
You couldn’t even process the news or anything else Dr. C had to say after that. Everything went fuzzy and it felt like you were in some crazy nightmare that you couldn’t wake up from. The only thing you did hear him say was that he expected you to be 8 weeks along from the information you told him and the ultrasound he performed.
You were a traditional person and always imagined you would be married or at least in a committed relationship before getting pregnant, so this entire situation had you in shock.
You were so numb from the news that you continued on throughout your day as normal, unsure of what else to do. But as you pulled into the parking lot of your apartment building, you rushed to get inside so you could finally breakdown and feel everything you had pushed aside for the past few hours.
You were silently praying your roommate wasn’t home when you walked through the door of your shared apartment so you didn’t have to face anyone. To your dismay, she was sitting in the living room calling for you when you walked through the door.
You hadn’t told her that you and Matthew broke up because you were so ashamed that the man you thought you’d spend the rest of you life with , didn’t feel the same way for you. The past 3 weeks you had been pretending Matt was away on a road trip or too busy with hockey to hang out whenever she asked about him. At this point you needed to get this off you chest so you walked right into the living room, sat down next to her, and unloaded the entire story before she even had the chance to say hello. As you spoke, her face turned from confusion to concern.
“Kay idk what to do, I don’t even want to tell him because I don’t need his help, but i feel icky when I think about having his baby and keeping it a secret.” You guys were talking through what you were gonna do about the situation.
Kaylee was the perfect person to ask because she also knew Matthew really well! Kaylee was the one who introduced you to Matt in the first place almost 3 years ago. They continually ran into each other while out at bars and talked so often they eventually became good friends. Being Kaylees best friend, you were later introduced to Matthew at a bar and you guys hit it off right away. You became really close friends and later started dating after a typical drunk love confession.
“And you’re definitely sure it’s Matt’s? Like there’s no chance it’s someone else’s right?”
“Yes of course I haven’t talk to anyone since the breakup, let alone slept with anyone!”
“I just want to make sure cause you didn’t even tell me you guys broke up, I wasn’t sure if I was missing any other important parts of the story” she paused for a second giving you a sympathetic look. The father was indisputable since you had only been with one man in the last two years.
“he’s a good guy y/n/n, I think he will be really understanding and a good father, it’s important you tell him, him and his family would want to know” She was right, she always is.
Before your talk with Kaylee, you fully prepared yourself to raise the baby on your own and expected nothing from Matthew. But when you thought about his family, a family that you had become a part of in the two years you were together, you couldn’t help but think of how disappointed they would be if they ever found out that you kept a part of them a secret. You had become extremely close with Brady and Taryn and their parents treated you like one of their own. They loved you and would unconditionally love your child, it wasn’t fair to them and more importantly, it wasn’t fair to your baby to keep them apart.
...
After a week of thoroughly thinking through all your options, you finally took Kaylees advice and reached out to Matt. You almost hoped he wouldn’t see your message or he would see it and just ignore it since you two hadn’t communicated since the breakup.
Y/n:
Hey Matty, it’s y/n, I’m not sure if you have free time in the near future but I kinda need to talk to you!
To your surprised he responded within minutes of your text.
Matty:
I’m happy you reached out, lets meet up! Can you do lunch tomorrow? Our usual lunch spot?
This all seemed too familiar, why was he texting you like you had never broken up and why did he respond at all? He could have easily said he was busy or trying to move on and didn’t want to talk, but he didn’t.
Y/n:
I was actually thinking we could do takeout or something and eat at my apartment?
You figure a private setting would be better for the news you were about to spring on him since you weren’t sure of the reaction you were going to get.
Matty:
Anything works babe
He had practice the next morning and a free afternoon so it was the perfect opportunity to tell him, giving him time to process since he had nothing going on for the rest of the day.
Matthew walked up to your apartment door the next day giving it his signature knock. You slowly walked to the door, opening it to find him standing there, carrying the to-go bags, filled with your favorite meal and wearing his perfect smile that almost made you forget why you called him over in the first place.
As you went to greet him, you caught a slight whiff of the food and the nausea that washed over you was so sudden and instantaneous, you almost didn’t make it to the bathroom.
On your run to the bathroom, you heard Matt’s footsteps following closely behind, but luckily you had enough time to lock the bathroom door before emptying the contents of you stomach in the toilet.
Matthew sat outside the bathroom knocking lightly “y/n are you okay” he waited patiently for your response.
When you felt the wave of nausea had completely passed, you stood up, flushing the toilet and making your way to the sink to rid your mouth of the taste that plagued it.
As you opened the door to the bathroom you were met with Matt’s concern filled face. If throughout your lunch date you wanted to change your mind about telling him, that option was completely off the table now. You had no choice but to explain what was going on and you just wanted to get it over with.
Matthew stood there staring, waiting for a response. “I’m pregnant” was all you could come up with.
He stared at you in complete disbelief but then realization washed over his face. “Who’s the father” was all he could manage, as if you would invite him over to tell him you were pregnant with someone else’s kid.
You wanted to roll your eye but they were so full of tears, you were scared that if you moved them, the tears would start running and you would fall apart in front of him.
“Yours” you whispered with a cold tone trying your best to keep your emotions at bay.
Matthew had alway wanted to be a dad and was great with his teammates kids, so you weren’t entirely surprised when he told you he wanted to be a part of your kids life.
You two spent countless hours and had countless lunch dates over the course of your pregnancy, talking about how you were going to co-parent and make everything work. You’d be lying if you said you didn’t secretly wish that you and Matt would end up back together, raising the family you always dream of having, but it seemed that ship had sailed for Matthew. His only concern was making sure his kid lived a happy and healthy life.
You were now waiting for a response from your ex on why he was still sitting in your kitchen so late at night.
“No no, Reign is fine everything is fine, I just need to talk to you about something” he said, not making eye contact with you. You were even more nervous now because you had no guess as to what he could possibly want to talk about.
“I’m talking to this girl” your entire world stopped spinning and your ears started to ring a little. You still weren’t use to Matthew talking to other women, you probably wouldn’t be for a long time, and now he wanted to talk to you about one of his hoes?
“Ummm okay” you said, unsure how you were even suppose to respond. “Why are you telling me this?”
“Things between us are getting a little more serious” you could literally feel you heart aching in your chest, but you continued to act unfazed by Matt’s admission. “I was just wondering what the appropriate time would be to introduce her to Reign”
You were almost stunned that he was even asking you such a stupid question. If it were up to you, Reign was never going to meet some trashy whore his father would bang every once in a while. Your son was only 3 months old, so to think that introducing him to a random, clout chaser was even an option for Matthew, made you extremely angry. Or maybe you were just jealous he had been seeing someone and it had gotten so serious that he was willing to introduce her to his newborn son.
You can’t even describe the feeling of the love of your life breaking up with you because ‘he wasn’t ready for commitment’, and then not even a year later he is in a serious relationship again but with someone else. You couldn’t help but think everything Matthew had told you was a lie, that he wasn’t afraid of committing, he was just afraid of committing to you.
“Y/n/n, did you hear my question?”
“Obviously” you spat “I just have to think, I wasn’t exactly prepared for this kind of question tonight or honestly at any point in the near future so I need time to think about it” you were bitter but you tried your hardest to not make it seem that way as you spoke.
“Take all the time you need, no rush, we’re obviously new to this whole parenting and co-parenting thing so we don’t have all the answers yet, but I don’t want to do anything you aren’t comfortable with.” He finally made eye contact with you for the first time all night. You forgot how pretty his eyes were.
“Thanks for checking in with me, ill let you know when I figure it out” and with that he got up and made his way out of your apartment.
“Goodnight y/n” he said as he opened the front door and pulled his car keys out of his pocket.
“Night” you responded as you close the door behind him. Just as the door closed, Reign’s screams came over the baby monitor, distracting you before you had too much time to think about how alone you actually were.

Maribat Winx Club Part 3
Part 1
Part 2
Masterlist
Marinette *panicing*: This doesn't make any sense. How can we be family? I was born on Earth! My parents were born on Earth! I'm an Earthling!
Damian gently grabbing Marinette by the shoulder: Angel I know this is a difficult time for you right now, but we need to focus of the mission right now, okay? Let's grab the miraculous and get back to Alfea, then we can all freak out about you and Jason being related there. Okay, Angel?
Marinette: Okay
Jason: Okay! We can have a big freak out party together with your parents, Bruce, and Alfred. Can't forget the brothers and our friends either! We can all have a mental breakdown together!
Marinette: Sounds fun!
Jason went over the the chest and opens it revealing a pair of red and black Polk a dot earrings
Jason: It looks like the Ladybug earrings. Let's head home guys.
As the fairies and specialists press the buttons to head home they all had one thought in their minds
If Marinette and Jason were family what did that mean for their quest for the Miraculous?
After a nice long freak out session between everybody over the apparent relation between Jason and Marinette they gathered in Ms. Faragonda's office to tell her what they had learned on Miracul
Faragonda: Then it seems what I feared has come to pass. I must call Bruce, Alfred, and the rest of the old Miraculous holders
Jason: Wait why?
Marinette: You used to be a Miraculous holder?
Faragonda: all questions will be answered in due time once everybody is here
Faragonda sent out the call to the surviving ex miraculous holders who came right away
Alfred, Fu, and Mariam gathered in Faragonda's office along with Bruce and Jon's dad Clark who was in charge of the Justice League, a group that formed to keep peace in the magix dimensions after the fall of Miracul
Faragonda: Thank you for joining us. As you know the Miraculous have resurfaced and with them the Dark Coven
Fu: We have heard of the attacks we have also heard of the brave students who are working the gather them. *Fu gestures the the young fairies and specialists* I assume these are those brave students
Dick raising his hand: I'm actually a teacher
Alfred: Yes Master Dick and we're all very proud of you
Dick now resembles and happy golden retriever
Faragonda: Yes these are the young people who have been gathering the Miraculous. So far they've found 5 Miraculous, the Fox, the Turtle, the Rabbit, the Mouse, and most importantly the Ladybug
Mariam: That's wonderful! If only we had the Black Cat and a member of the royal family then we could use them to pull the rest of the Miraculous to them
Faragonda: We might have 2 members of the royal family with us in this room. Jason and Marinette can you please stand up here with me
Jason and Marinette stood side by side in front of the crowd of adults
Faragonda: We've been working under the assumption that Jason was just a lucky citizen of Miracul that was able to escape it's destruction, but the Miraculous call out to him. And Marinette gained her Enchantix by saving Jason's life that means their family. I've had this feeling for a long time. Look closely at these two, who do they remind you of?
Alfred was nodding his head looking at the two as if he's seeing them in a new light
Miriam gasped, covering her mouth and tears weld up in her eyes
Fu was the one to put everybody thoughts into words
Fu: They look so much like Queen Clarisse and King Roland
Faragonda: We've been living under the assumption that the Dark Ones were smart enough to get rid of the royal heirs before the attack, but what if they weren't. What if young Prince Jason took his sister Princess Marinette to the portal room and was able to escape the planet but got separated along the way. One ending up in Gotham the other on Earth.
Alfred: That would explain a lot. When Master Jason first joined us at the Manor he use to have terrible nightmares about failing to protect somebody
Fu: To bad we don't also have the ring of the Black Cat then they could call forth the rest of the Miraculous using the Miraculous box
Miriam: But the box was lost along with Miracul
Faragonda: But we might be able to find it if we also had the Black Cat
Marinette: Is the Ring of of Black Cat black with a green paw print on it?
Fu: Yes it is. How did you know that Marinette?
Marinette was hesitant, but the voice inside her head said it was alright to show them the ring
Marinette reaching into her pocket: Last year during our final exam I was assigned Miracul as the dead planet I had to bring back. During the test i head a voice call me into a cave where I found this. The voice told me to keep it hidden and not to let anybody know that I had it
Marinette pulled out the ring from her pocket showing it to the people in the room
Fu: That is indeed the Black Cat Miraculous
Jason: Why didn't you tell us about it soon Marinette?
Marinette: I was scared what it meant if the Miraculous was really calling to me as well. If that means my parents weren't really my parents. If that somehow changed my relationship with them.
Fu walked over to the girl that reminded him so much of his dear friends and put a hand on her shoulder
Fu: Marinette I may not know you or your family, but if your parents took you in and raised you for the last 16 years then you finding out that you are adopted will have no change on the relationship you have with them. Unless you let it effect it
Faragonda: It is time for you two to claim you birthright as the wielders of the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous
Jason and Marinette stared at eachother thinking over what Faragonda had just said
Marinette: But what if you're wrong? Didn't you say that anybody who wasn't the royal family or the Dark Coven would die if they but on the Miraculous
Faragonda: I'm not wrong. I've already seen you use the power of the Black Cat once before during the Scarecrow's attack on the school
Jason grabbing the Ladybug earrings: I'm in if you are Pixie Pop
Marinette tightened her grip on the ring: Let's do it or die trying
Adrien: Wow wow wow, there is no reason for either of you to die
Damian: Yeah I have to agree with Agreste let's try to not kill my girlfriend, Todd.
Jason with one earring already in: Yeah yeah yeah, don't worry Demon Spawn. I'm not going to lose my sister again.
As Jason slipped the last earring onto his ear and Marinette place the ring on her finger to balls of light came put of the jewelry and floated in front of the reunited siblings
The one in front of Jason formed into a ladybug looking creature and the one in front of Marinette formed into what looked like a small cat
Plagg stretching: Aahg finally! You know kid you could have put my miraculous on a long time ago. Your my kitten you got to get a little bit more curious then that
Marinette: Oh I'm sorry...
Plagg: Plagg Kwami of Destruction you got any cheese?
Marinette: Not on me but I'm sure we can go to the kitchen after this
Plagg: It'll have to do
Plagg flew over Marinette and landing on her head and looked every bit like an old house cat lounging on their owner
While this was happening Jason was meeting his own Kwami
Tikki: Hello Jason! I'm Tikki the kwami of creation! I remember you when you were just a little boy! You used to love chasing us around!
Jason: I remember you! You were my mom's kwami!
Tikki: Clarisse was a great Ladybug, but I know you'll do her proud!
Bruce didn't want to interrupt the found family's moment but they need to get this meeting back on track
Bruce: Since Jason and Marinette can wield the Miraculous does that mean they can summon the rest of the Miraculous right now
Fu shook his head: They would need the Miraculous box to do that and sadly we know for certain is in the hands of the Dark Coven
Marinette: But we can choose new wielders of the Miraculous right?
Alfred: That is correct
Jason: But we don't have enough Miraculous for everyone
Alya: Don't worry about that!
Rose: Yeah we all have Enchantix
Alix: This Dark Coven members have no chance against us in those forms
Juleka nodded her head in agreement
Marinette: Then let's give them to the Specialists. I love you guys but you don't have the same protections as the fairies. You'll be safer with the Miraculous
Jon: You guys don't have to worry about us we're Specialist. We are train to go into dangerous situations like this
The other boys go to agree with Jon, but Jason interrupts them
Jason: She's right boys, but we'll need to find 1 more so each of you can get one
Fu: If you two transform using the miraculous you'll be able to focus on a certain Miraculous and track it. I suggest the Dragon Miraculous it's one of the most powerful, besides the Cat and Ladybug
Jason: Let's do this Marinette
Marinette: Let's find that Miraculous
Tikki: Great! Jason all you have to do is say Spots On
Plagg: Kitten all you have to say is claws out
Jason: Tikki Spots On!
Marinette: Plagg Claws Out!
Jason now work what looked like the classic prince outfit with a red and black color scheme
While Marinette wore a tea length Princess Dress with a Black and Green color scheme with black cat ears on top of her head and black lace fingerless gloves covering her palms
Damian stared at his stunning girlfriend
Adrien was watching him with a smug smile
Adrien: Damian you might want to wipe that dwell off your chin
Damian quickly wiped his face only to find no dwell
Damian glaring at Adrien: Shut Up!
Jon: Don't tell him to shut up
Adrien: Yeah don't tell me to shut up
Marinette: I got it! It's like I can see the Miraculous itself!
Jason: Yeah it's on Salerios hidden in the royal garden
Clark: The League will call a head to the King and get him to allow us access
Bruce: We leave in an hour
And before the day was up the fairies and the Specialists had the Dragon Miraculous in their hands
Jason: Awesome with the Miraculous we have and you fairies' Enchantix the Dark Coven ont stand a chance
Tikki: And if you get the rest of the Miraculous and the Miraculous Box we can restore Miracul to it's former glory
Adrien: That'll mean you'll be a real life princess Marinette
Alya: With all the responsibilities that comes with it!
Alix: Like meetings with royals fron other planets and-
As her friends discussed Marinette's future everything really hit Marinette
It finally sunk in that her whole life was a lie
What if she wouldn't be able to see her parents any more
What if she couldn't be with Damian any more
What if she destroyed her planet like the Dark Coven did
Marinette: Hey guys I'm going to turn in for the day
Damian frowning: Are you okay Angel?
Marinette: Yeah I just need some rest after this hectic day
Jason: Are you sure Pixie Pop?
Marinette: Yeah I'm sure Goodnight
When Marinette went to her room she didn't feel any better
She knew what she had to do so she wrote a note to let her friends knew she was okay and headed to the portal room
Marinette stood in front of her parents backery gathering courage for what she was about to do
Tom and Sabine was closing for the night when their daughter rushed into the store
Tom: Marinette?
Sabine: What are you doing here sweetheart
Marinette couldn't help it and blurted out what she had learned
Marinette: I know I'm adopted!

Hi there! Can I request a Percy Jackson x Daughter of Apollo!Reader, that's more hurt-comfort? I'm thinking that they're both 18-19 and bump into each other after their messy breakup when they were 15-16 and young and dumb and it's slightly awkward but they still both desperately love each other? Feel free to tie it up however you'd like! Thank you so much <3
This is my first PJO request so thank you so much! I hope that you enjoyed.
Note: Per the request this will feature a daughter of Apollo, but you should be able to switch it up in your head a little to match yourself if your godly parent isn’t Apollo.
ALSO there is a tiny bit of Annabeth bashing in this (I’m so sorry cause I love Percabeth) but know that this is just for the fic’s purpose!
Not Broken, Just Bent
(I feel like these lyrics sorta match their relationship so that’s why this is the title!)
Tumblr media
Y/N had been fifteen years old when she had dated Percy Jackson for a year. And gods, it was the best year of her life. She had met Percy at Camp Half-Blood but they began Y/N had enrolled into his high school. She had been the daughter of Apollo and a mortal who knew of the Godly world, and she had dropped her off at Camp Half-Blood when she was born. So Y/N had never seen what life was like outside the boarder, but when she finally did, she had Percy there to guide her.
They had a fantastic time. He helped Y/N connect to some other relatives and they went to the beach together. It wasn’t long before they fell in love. However, when the summer rolled around, Annabeth came. Y/N had always been a little bit intimidated of Annabeth, but she also instantly recognized that the daughter of Athena had a crush on Percy. This stemmed the root of their breakup, as Percy was oblivious to her feelings. They soon got into fights, as Y/N was too oblivious to recognize that Percy was oblivious. She thought he liked Annabeth and he accused her of being jealous. It didn’t end well.
Since then, Y/N had “graduated” from Camp Half-Blood and was living in the mortal world. She hadn’t been there to here what Camp Jupiter was so she didn’t know she could go to New Rome. Percy, on the other hand, was healing from a couple months of being broken up with Annabeth. And as he did . . . He couldn’t help but think back to the woman before Annabeth. He couldn’t help but wonder what she was doing now . . .
So you could imagine his surprise when he was going to take his shift of patrolling the boarders and saw Y/N just barely past, having dropped to her knees. She was beaten and bruised and the very sight glued Percy to his place momentarily.
“Y/N?” Percy said, snapping back to reality. He thought that just for a moment that he had been imagining her because he was thinking about her, but he knew it was real when she let out a small cry of pain. The brunette rushed to her side.
“Y/N, what happened? You need to tell me where you’re hurt?” Percy said. He forgot all about how complicated their break-up had been and was only concerned about her well-being. There was worry glossing over his eyes as he didn’t know whether to take her arm or if that would hurt her, so he opted to putting a hand under her chin and tilting her head up.
Y/N’s eyes met his. She looked exhausted. “Monsters . . . They’ve been chasing me quite a lot recently . . . So I came here . . . One came out when I was almost at the boarder and I lost my sword . . .” With that, her head slumped forward and Percy grasped her shoulders as she passed out.
“SHIT,” Percy cursed loudly. He pushed her so she was still on her knees but upright, and then put his hands underneath her armpits. Percy then pulled her up with himself as he stood up, and maneuvered himself so at he was by her side so he could put one arm under her legs and the other around her back to pick her up. The Demigod did his best not to injure Y/N any further, and then took off for the medbay.
“WILL!” Percy yelled, bursting inside. The blonde teenager looked up and was alarmed to see his friend carrying his sister. Percy hurriedly explained what Y/N had told him, stumbling over his words as he was desperate. He was helpless as Will took Y/N from his arms and laid her on the bed.
“We’ll have to wait until she’s awake to give her ambrosia,” Will muttered.
“When will she wake up? Is there anything I can do to help? Is she okay?” Percy rambled out, glancing between him and his sister.
Will thought for a moment. “Can you grab some bandages? They’re in the back,” he said.
Percy nodded, nearly tripping over his chair as he stood up. He grabbed all of the bandages he could see and came back, basically shoving them into Will’s lap.
He then watched, tapping his foot anxiously, as Will wrapped her head which was bleeding and her wrist and ankle.
After finishing, Will stood up and got some ambrosia.
“That won’t be enough to heal all of her injuries,” Percy noted.
“I know, but if she takes too much then she’ll get feverish and we don’t want that,” Will said. “We can’t control what the ambrosia heals when she has multiple injuries, so let’s hope her head gets healed.”
Will put the ambrosia on her bedside table, and that’s when Nico burst in, out of breath.
“Training room - someone needs hurt,” Nico panted out, and Will nodded.
“Let me know when she wakes up,” Will said to Percy, and then added, “And take good care of my sister.”
Percy nodded and his attention returned to Y/N as Will and Nico left. He sighed, not left alone with his thoughts. He had realized when he held her and worried about her, that being in love with her never really went away . . . And that love was much more purse and heartwarming than his love for Annabeth. With Annabeth, he loved her, but maybe he wasn’t in love with her . . . Because it was difficult. He always worried about messing up or saying the wrong thing, but with Y/N, even if he was concerned for her, he remembered how comfortable it was to be with her, and how much she cared for him.
Oh, gods. He still loved Y/N. He was still in love with her.
He took a deep breath, and the only thing keeping him from beginning to freak out was when he noticed Y/N started to open her eyes. Percy waited with baited breath until she fully woke up and looked around.
“Percy?” She said, and he saw that she was confused.
“Hey,” he said softly, giving her the ambrosia. “A monster attacked you and you passed out. I took you back here - take this.”
Y/N nodded and took the ambrosia, shoving it into her mouth. After a couple of moments she groaned. “The dam ambrosia only healed my bruises and my wrist - not my head or ankle,” she said.
“If we give you anymore ambrosia you’ll become feverish,” Percy said, and couldn’t help but feel sad that she was in pain.
There were a couple of moments where they sat in silence, and that silenced allowed the awkwardness to grow like water allowed a plant to blossom.
“Thank you for, uh, taking me here,” Y/N said as their silence was creeping up upon a minute.
“Of course, of course,” Percy said immediately. “How have you, er, been doing?”
Y/N sighed. She was just going to go back to her normal life after this, so what did she lose in telling him the truth, anyway? Maybe she’d even get some closure from it.
“I know this is silly, but . . . I tried to move on from you and I never . . . Found someone that I loved and wanted to be with like you,” she was admitted, toying with the bed’s sheets.
She waited for Percy to tell her that he was happy and dating someone that was great and that he had moved on from her. So now it was Y/N’s turn to be surprised when he said the last thing she ever would have thought of.
“With you, today, I realized I still loved you, Y/N. I did date Annabeth after us but we broke up. You, though, you’re amazing . . . And you were right. She did like me. So I’m sorry about how our relationship ended - I’m sorry what I said to you. When you’re better . . . I’d love go out for coffee or something. Honestly, I never knew how much I was missing you until today, and I’m still in love with you, even more than Annabeth,” he told her, and that scared himself a bit. This realization came onto him so suddenly, but he was so, so happy when he did say it. He never stopped being in love.
Y/N looked over at him, her eyes widened. Seeing his smile, it was contagious. She smiled as well, and reached out to take his hand. “I’d love that,” she said, softly, forgetting about her pain.
Percy chuckled and squeezed her hand - and that’s when Will interrupted.
“Aye, Jackson! Lay off my patient, okay?” Will said jokingly.
Percy laughed and Y/N rolled her eyes.
“It’s good to see you, too, bro,” she said.

Rain cascaded down the windows of the TV room illuminated by the light from the flickering television that Alison had left on for the Captain. It was time for his daily alone time, watching war documentaries and relaxing.
He settled back into the sofa, finally allowing his military-grade posture to drop and relaxing into a cosy evening by himself with his beloved documentaries.
“Hello!” The Captain was snapped from his show as a voice rang out around the silent Button House. “Hello! Is someone there?” The shouting wasn’t too far from the Captain, outside the window probably as it was muffled by the storm.
The Captain sprang up and crossed towards the window, leaning out into the pouring rain to try and catch a glimpse of whoever was calling out to him. Droplets of water coursed through the Captain’s body; he’d rather liked the rain during his life, the feeling of water running from his hairline down his face, the cold comfort of shivering in his boots only to enter the warmth of a fireside glow. But in death, it was almost painful, like pins and needles striking in little pinpricks across his skin.
“Hello?” He called into the night.
“Captain!” A voice the Captain recognised to be Humphrey shouted from above him. The Captain spun around and leant backwards outside the window to reach up blindly trying to catch hold of wherever Humphrey might be, cloaked by the rain and the night.
“Left a bit!” Humphrey said. The Captain flailed his hands across the roof ledge above him. “Bit more!” He finally felt the solid mass of Humphrey’s head in contrast to the faded texture of the living world. Grabbing hold of Humphrey by the hair, the Captain yanked Humphrey back inside the house, both of them crashing through the window and onto the TV room floor.
“Good lord, Humphrey!” The Captain said, getting up to dust himself off. “How long have you been out there?”
“Four days, I think. Robin threw me up there while playing football with Julian, I’m not convinced he entirely understood the rules.” Humphrey joked.
“Blimey, did you not think to shout earlier, man?” The Captain picked Humphrey up off the floor where he had landed by the sofa.
“I did, usually Julian puts the volume far too loud for anyone to hear my weak little voice screaming for help!”
“Well, you’re in now.” It had taken the Captain a while to get used to Humphrey’s headlessness, but after 75 years he was now more than comfortable to hold him while talking. “Do you want me to take you somewhere? Your bedroom, perhaps?” The Captain offered.
“I’ve given up on having a bedroom, Cap. If I get taken there, it’ll be weeks until anyone finds me again.” Humphrey smiled, masking any sadness that tinged his words. “I’ll stay here and watch your show with you, if you don’t mind?”
“Oh- of course, yeah. Fine,” The Captain said. “Where- where would you like me to sit you?”
“Can you please just hold me? Been a while, you know.” Humphrey said, without an inch of discomfort - an emotion that was coursing through the Captain.
“Oh.”
“You don’t have to, but just stick me on your lap or something. Would be nice.” Humphrey smiled and blinked up unwavering at the stoic Captain.
“Why?” The Captain asked. Humphrey rolled his eyes at the naivety.
“Because you took all the pillows so I’m using you as one,” Humphrey joked, nodding towards the preprepared nest of cushions the Captain had tucked himself into - like a child feeling sorry for himself on a sick day. The Captain glanced between the soft and welcoming refuge of the sofa and the table by his side, debating where to place his friend.
He eventually gave in to the look in Humphrey’s eyes and settled himself back into the cushions, placing Humphrey carefully on his thighs. His hands came to rest awkwardly either side of his lap, making a point not to go anywhere near Humphrey again.
“So, what’s this show about then?” Humphrey asked. The Captain huffed and pointing at the screen, black and white footage of tanks rolling across deserts. Humphrey laughed. “Point taken! Tell me about the tanks, then. I know you want to.”
“Well, this one is the A.15 Mark IV Crusader, one of the most popular models of the time.” The Captain began. “It is a rather good mover, can be shifted about with incredible ease but actually rather light-armoured and under-armed. Very vulnerable to attack once it’s in the firing line.”
Humphrey hummed in acknowledgement.
“It is crucial in the war effort, absolutely vital in the fight against Fritz. 1941 - the North Africa Front, they’re refitted for desert conditions. Quite exotic out there, you know.” The Captain nodded wisely, reminiscing about the stories he’d heard from the front.
“Could you say that again?” Humphrey asked quietly.
“Were you not listening?”
“No I was, I just like hearing your voice.” The Captain spluttered as Humphrey spoke, straightening up at the compliment.
“You don’t want to listen to this old walrus blabber on for hours,” the Captain said.
“Take the compliment, Captain.” Humphrey scolded. “It’s not a weakness to take love.”
“Whatever are you talking about?” The Captain mumbled, his gaze never leaving the familiar images of his tanks.
“Why are you so scared of loving, hey?” Humphrey chuckled.
“A soldier isn’t afraid of anything.”
“Apart from his own emotions, apparently.” The Captain shifted uncomfortably, oppressed by the weight of Humphrey’s questioning as well as the literal weight of him resting on his lap, pinning him into the chair. “I’m perfectly happy showing my love for friends, you should try it sometime.”
“Anyway, it’s not love, is it.” The Captain stated. “Paying somebody compliments.”
“Can be,” Humphrey said. “If you want it to be, huh? Anything can be: giving little compliments, talking about how you feel, listening to others, touching. All are good, Cap. Go on try a little, 75 years can’t be good for you.”
After a moment of awkward hesitation, the Captain raised his hands from beside him, floundering around Humphrey’s head and clenching and unclenching his fists. Slowly reaching forward and keeping his eyes transfixed on the screen, he threaded his calloused fingers into Humphrey’s long, fluffy hair and brushed across his scalp, relaxing into the feel of it.
“Your hair is really soft,” he said quietly.
“Thank you,” Humphrey whispered, smiling at the Captain’s tiny step forward in allowing just a touch of emotion out.

When We’re 25 ~ Nathan MacKinnon
Tumblr media
Summary: Twenty-five seemed so old for two eleven year olds sitting on the grassy field behind their school. Who would have thought promises made 14 years ago could change everything?
Word Count: ~4,000
Warnings: None
Video Source of Gif
A/N: Unedited and based a lot in the past so I tried to put together an accurate timeline but please forgive me if I didn’t get years quite right.
Nathan MacKinnon. People always asked about your relationship with him. People always had. Because you were inseparable from the day you met. It was when you were eight years old and your third grade teacher put him beside you while completing her seating plan for the year when you first met.
A few days later Nate invited you to come play soccer during recess. You spent all of five minutes playing soccer with the boys before heading off to the edge of the soccer field, picking a handful of wildflowers. You gave them to Nathan while walking back into the school after the bell rang and they stayed in his desk until they were shrivelled up and dead.
You started going to each others houses after school and on weekends. His parents and your parents grew closer through the frequent trips to each other’s houses dropping off or picking one of you up.
In grade four you weren’t in the same class as Nate and you cried the morning of your first day back at school. But still you still saw each other at every recess and lunch break. He would occasionally swap out playing soccer to spend the break with you. Other times you would drag your friends up to the soccer field to hang out on the sidelines, simply to be near him.
It started early, the teasing from your friends. They would giggle and talk about how they were certain you two ‘like liked’ each other. Your parents made occasional comments too. Comments that would make your cheeks burn and turn a dark shade of red. Through everything you had always denied liking Nathan.
When you were eleven years old your older cousin was getting married and your family took a trip across the country for the wedding. When you got back to school you were bombarded with questions from your friends about the trip. You talked about how magical it all was, gushing about the dress, the cake, the dancing, and in true childhood fashion, that the hotel you stayed in had a pool. Jeremy, a boy in your class, was sitting nearby, listening in on the conversation. “Too bad nobody will every want to marry you,” Jeremy muttered when you had finished talking.
“Jeremy, you’re so mean,” your best friend had defended quickly.
“it’s just the truth,” he had replied matter-of-factly.
You tried your best not to let Jeremy’s comment hurt your feelings. But the tears that welled up in your eyes betrayed you and before anyone had the chance to say anything else you were on your feet and fleeing to the closest bathroom so nobody could see your emotions.
You were in the bathroom for awhile before your friend came in, coaxing you out of the bathroom stall. “Nate punched him,” she had said, so simply, as if it didn’t mean anything.
You were shocked when she told you, scared about the trouble he was going to get into. And he did get into trouble, a week of missed recess breaks.
You sat outside on the grassy hill behind the school with Nathan that day after school.
“Sorry you got in trouble,” you told him.
“He upset you.”
“You shouldn’t have hit him.”
“He shouldn’t have been mean to you.”
You had looked over at Nate and knew in that moment that he didn’t even know why he punched Jeremy, didn’t know what Jeremy had even said, just that he had made you cry. “He told me nobody would ever want to marry me.”
“He’s wrong.”
“You don’t know that.”
“I’d marry you,” Nathan had told you so simply that it made you giggle even at that age.
“We’re too young,” you had replied, as if that was the only reason you two couldn’t get married.
“When we’re older then.”
“You’re going to marry me when we’re older?”
Nathan nodded, pulling a tiny wild daisy from the ground and handing it to you. “If we aren’t already married to other people.”
“When?” You asked him, twirling the flower between your fingers.
Nate contemplated the answer for awhile before saying anything. “Twenty-five?”
Twenty-five had seemed so far from that day. You were only eleven and you thought you would have it all figured out by the time you were 25. “Okay,” you had told him.
The two years Nathan had spent playing hockey in Minnesota were incredibly difficult for you. You were 12 and going through so many changes in your life. The only thing you really wanted was to have your best friend around.
When you were both 14 and Nathan had moved back from Minnesota to play in Halifax you went back to being practically inseparable. You went to as many of his games as possible. Even when you both had homework to do you insisted on being together, working quietly on separate assignments till it devolved into talking and laughing. Any opportunity to hang out together you would take it.
When you were 16 you managed to convince Nate to come to a house party with you. One of the kids in your class had been left alone for the weekend which inevitably meant he was going to throw a party. Nate spent most of the night sipping coca-cola while you consumed jungle juice and cheap beer.
Of course a game of truth or dare was suggested that night because you were all high school students who had access to alcohol and an unsupervised home. The lack of seating in the house had left you sitting on Nathan’s lap, his arms wrapped around your waist, your back pressed into him.
“Y/N,” Lexie said. “Truth or dare?”
You had immediately opted for a dare. You were a bad liar sober, you knew there was no way you could have lied convincingly if they asked something you didn’t want to admit.
“I dare you to kiss Adam.”
Adam was a year older than you, intimidatingly cool and attractive to you at the time. You had just turned 16 and you were beginning to feel embarrassed about the fact that you hadn’t had your first kiss. But that was not how you wanted it to happen. You hadn’t realized how long you had sat there in surprise till you felt Nathan run his hand over your arm. He knew. He knew that you hadn’t had your first kiss before and he had detected your anxiety immediately.
“She’s not doing that,” Nate had declared a moment later.
“Why not?” Lexie questioned, eyes narrowed and voice annoyed.
“Because we’re dating.”
You had tried to keep your composure in the face of such a bold lie. You remembered the looks your friends had given you, even they were uncertain whether it was a lie or not because of how believable it would have been.
“You’re lying,” Lexie had challenged.
“Why would I lie about that?” Nathan slid his hands down to your legs, tugging you sideways on his lap and bringing one of his hands to the side of your face, turning your head to look at him. “They’ll believe us if I kiss you,” Nathan whispers.
You swallow heavily, staring into his eyes. You wanted to kiss him, but you didn’t think this was how you wanted it to happen. You could feel the eyes of everyone playing the game in the room and suddenly the attention felt like too much. “I want to go,” you whispered back.
Nathan didn’t need to hear anything else. He placed his hands on your waist, quickly helping you up before standing up himself. “We’re going to go home,” Nate announced as you walked out with him, hearing a chorus of ‘oohs’ in regard to you two leaving together after that announcement.
You walked back in the direction of your house in silence for awhile until you passed by a park and you grabbed Nate’s hand, stopping him in his tracks. “Lets go on the swings,” you suggested.
The two of you sat on the swings and talked for awhile, not about what happened at the party at first. “I just want it over with,” you finally blurted out.
“Want what over with?”
You had looked over at Nathan, fingers grasping the chain of the swing so hard your knuckles had gone white. “My first kiss.”
“If we’re going to get married we may as well try kissing now,” Nathan had said, laughing as he did. You knew the part about getting married was a joke so you assumed the rest was as well, giggling softly.
Nathan stood up and walked in front of you, his hands moving to yours, gently pulling them off the chains of the swing. “I’m serious.”
Slowly you stood up, looking up at him with wide eyes. “What if I’m bad at it?”
“You won’t be,” Nathan had assured you, one hand around your back as he pulled you closer. “Do you want to?”
You had simply nodded, as if you were physically unable to say yes. Nathan had kissed you that night. Your first kiss ever. Afterwards you didn’t say much as he walked you home, waiting till you were inside before going back to his own house.
Neither of you talked about the kiss again. You told everyone afterwards that you didn’t work out in a relationship that you were still friends. But a year and a half later, when you were almost 18 you brought it up again.
“You know how you let me kiss you to get my first kiss out of the way?” You asked, sitting on your bed with your school work spread out in front of you. Nate had been sitting beside you with his math textbook and a messy sheet of equations in his lap.
Nate had looked over at you, eyebrows raised in curiosity. “Well I kissed you, but yeah. Why?”
“Would you do it again?”
“You can’t have your first kiss twice.”
“Not my first kiss….my first…time.”
Nathan had stared at you blankly for a few seconds, seemed skeptical, like you were tricking him into admitting something. “Yes,” he had finally told you.
“Okay,” you had replied, slowly moving all your books off your bed. And Nathan did exactly what he said, taking your virginity that afternoon. And he was gentle and kind and everything you were hoping he would be. You trusted him with everything and you were glad you had trusted him with this too. Even though it happened only a few months before he was drafted into the NHL and then moved to Colorado.
You stayed close when he moved. You texted and called and visited each other as much as you could. And you always remained determined that you were just friends. But you never felt the same connection you felt with him as you felt with anyone you had actually dated. You never felt as comfortable, as safe, as secure.
Nathan had always done his absolute best to make sure he was there for your birthdays. There were a few years where he couldn’t make it work because of games. A couple of those years you decided to go to him, celebrating your birthday with a few friends in a hockey arena watching an Avs game before dragging Nathan out for drinks with everyone.
This year he was particularly insistent about coming to visit for your birthday. It was your 25th and he was making it out to seem like a much bigger deal than you thought it was. It was just another day.
He had come up the day before your birthday and the two of you spent every waking minute together. The day of your birthday you woke up to Nathan making you breakfast, coffee already brewed.
“This is pretty impressive,” you said, shuffling tiredly into the kitchen and wrapping your arms around him, your head on his shoulder. “Thank you.”
“It’s your birthday, you deserve everything.” He wraps his arms around you, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of your head. “Now sit down.”
Giggling you pull away from him, taking a seat on one of the barstools at the kitchen island. “Ally said you guys made plans later but that I need to dress nice,” you comment, watching as Nathan flips a couple pancakes onto a plate. “Will you tell me what we’re doing?”
“No,” Nathan chuckles, setting the pancakes in front of you.
Glaring at him you pick up your fork. “Fine, but will you at least come with me and help me pick out something suitable to wear tonight?”
“Sure,” Nathan chuckles, getting himself some breakfast and joining you to eat.
Later that day you step out of a fitting room in a knee length red wrap dress, glancing in the mirror before looking at Nathan. “What do you think of this one?”
“You look incredible,” Nathan says, leaning forward in the chair he was sitting in.
You glance over as one of the sales associates comes into the back, looking between you and Nathan for a minute. “Anniversary dinner?”
Laughing softly you shake your head. “My birthday.”
“Oh,” she says, smiling softly. “You two are just really cute.”
“We’re going to get married,” Nathan chuckles.
“We’re not,” you tell the sales associate quickly, glancing at Nathan through the mirror. “He’s joking, we’re just friends.”
“Oh,” she comments again, grabbing a few dresses from a hanger before heading back into the store.
“Nathan, what the hell?” You exclaim, giggling as you turn back around to look at him. “Is this the one?” You ask, gesturing to the dress and changing the topic.
“Yeah, that’s the one.”
After changing back into your clothes you and Nathan take the dress to the front counter. When you notice Nathan pulling out his wallet you quickly push his hand away. “No,” you say quietly.
“It’s your birthday,” he retorts, pulling a credit card out of his wallet.
Rolling your eyes you give in, knowing you weren’t going to get out of letting him pay for it. Once you two leave the store you grab a coffee, spending the day doing nothing but hanging out with each other. And to be honest there wasn’t a single other thing you would have rather been doing. Whenever Nate was in town or you were in Denver it felt like a missing piece in your life was filled.
It was many hours later before you were fully dressed and ready for the night, heading out with Nathan who insisted on driving because he refused to tell you where you were actually going. But it wasn’t long before you realized it was your favourite restaurant which you didn’t go to often because of the price and fact that you needed to make reservations weeks in advance if you wanted to be sure you could get in.
Glancing over at Nate you smile softly, watching his eyes focused on the road in front of him. I love you. It wasn’t the first time you wanted to say it. In fact, you had even said it before. But it was always followed up by ‘you’re my best friend’ to take away from what it really meant. Nate looks over at you, catching you watching him.
“What?” Nate asks, looking back out the window as he slows down and pulls into a spot near the front of the restaurant.
“Nothing,” you tell him quietly, reaching over and unbuckling your seatbelt. “I’m just really glad you’re here.”
“Me too,” he replies, quickly climbing out of the car. Your attention is caught by the speed with which Nate hops out of the car, hurrying around the front of it.
You can’t help but giggle, watching as he gets to your side, pulling the door open. “Almost broke into a sprint there,” you tease, eyes widening as Nate grabs your hand to help you out of the car. “It’s my birthday, not my coronation.”
Nate chuckles, closing the door behind you once you were out of the car. “Anything for you.”
You glance down at your hands, Nate’s hand still locked with yours. But you don’t pull away, keeping the embrace as you two walk up to the restaurant and all the way to the table where a group of your friends were already waiting.
“Happy birthday,” your best friend cheers, hopping up to wrap her arms around you. “You and Nate look cozy,” she whispers in her ear while her arms were around you.
Laughing you shake your head, pulling away. “Just friends,” you remind her, for what felt like the millionth time.
“Right,” she draws out, rolling her eyes with a playful smile.
After a few more happy birthday hugs and hellos you sit down beside Nate. Chatter ensues around the table as drinks are ordered. Shortly after you have a glass of pinot noir in front of you and Nate has moved a little closer, his arm around the back of your chair.
The dinner goes by quicker than you would have liked. A few glasses of wine and a delicious dinner later your friends are handing over the gifts they had brought with them. After you had opened the gifts from your friends you notice Nate watching you closely, clutching a little box in his hand.
“Happy birthday,” he whispers as he hands the box to you.
Opening it slowly you look down at the gorgeous necklace in the box. You knew immediately that it cost more than all the other jewelry you owned combined and it was more than you could have ever asked for or anticipated. “Nathan,” you whisper, looking up at him. “Thank you so much…you didn’t have to.”
“Oh my god, put it on,” your friend comments, downing the rest of her martini.
You slowly and carefully pull the necklace out of the box and Nate stands up, helping you put the necklace on without hesitation. “Happy twenty-fifth,” he whispers before sitting back down.
As soon as the words leave his mouth it all comes back to you. 25. You look over at him, staring into his eyes to try and figure out if he knew the weight of 25 as well or if he was simply saying it because it was a fact, you were 25 now. But you know that he remembered too.
You try to keep your focus on the moment, on the dinner and your friends. But you couldn’t stop your thoughts from drifting the rest of the night. To Nate. To the necklace. To how much you loved him. To the fact that you were both 25 now.
After dinner everyone heads outside and you can’t stop yourself from taking Nathan’s hand, pulling him a little closer. Outside you say goodbyes as everyone heads off in their Ubers. There was no question that you would be spending the night with Nathan. Your friends were around all the time and they knew when Nathan was in town you wanted to be around him as much as humanly possible.
Once everyone was gone you turn to look up at Nate. The sky was dark, the evening cool but not too cold. The street was unbelievably quiet, as if the world had been put on pause. Everything felt perfect. “So we’re both twenty-five now,” you whisper.
Nathan takes your other hand in his, pulling you a little closer. “And neither of us are married.”
Laughing softly you shake your head. “Twenty-five seemed so old at the time. I really thought we’d have it all figured out.”
“I do have something figured out.”
“Just one thing?” you tease.
“One pretty big thing,” Nate tells you, voice quiet.
“And what is it?”
“That I love you,” Nate says. “So much more than I’ve ever let you know. And I would marry you right now if that’s what you actually wanted but I don’t think a daisy when we were eleven is a great proposal.”
You inhale sharply, your lungs not seeming to be able to take in or exhale air steadily anymore. “Nathan,” you whisper, taking your hands from his and quickly lifting them up to wrap your arms around him. “I…I love you too. I have for so long.” Pulling back you look into Nathan’s eyes for a couple minutes before leaning closer. Nathan gets the hint quickly, closing the space and kissing you gently. It’s soft and passionate and so full of emotions that you feel a little dizzy, like you weren’t even on the planet in that moment anymore. Like it was all a fuzzy, incredibly dream.
“Let’s go back to my apartment,” you whisper against his lips, still clutching onto him as if the second you let go everything that had just happened would vanish from reality.
But you force yourself to pull away from him, to get into your car and go back to your apartment.
You get to your apartment and you’re barely through the door before your hands are back all over him. He’s held you before, cuddled and hugged but when his hands slide around your waist this time it fills you with an unfamiliar excitement. Kissing Nate felt so natural, like you were made for each other. It’s not long before you’ve made your way into the bedroom, clothes scattered around the floor.
While it’s not the first time you had slept with Nathan it’s the first time that it felt like it meant something real.
The next morning you wake up wrapped in Nathan’s arms, a far cry from the mornings before when you woke up alone with Nate on the couch. The morning is slow as you climb out of bed, spending the morning cuddled on the couch watching tv and drinking coffee in nothing but Nathan’s t-shirt.
“What now?” You ask after being up for a couple hours, back pressed to Nate’s chest, his arm draped over your shoulders.
“What do you mean?” Nathan asks softly.
“This…us. You’re going back to Denver tomorrow morning and we…,” you trail off, trying to hold back the fact that you were on the verge of tears. Blinking quickly you try to keep the tears from spilling from your eyes.
“We what?” Nate’s voice is gentle but you can tell he doesn’t realize you’re about to cry, doesn’t realize how upset you are.
You can’t stop the uneven inhale that makes your shoulders shake and Nate clues into your emotions. He reaches over, taking the mug of coffee out of your hands and setting it on the table beside him. He gently tugs your arm to turn you around and face him, pulling you into him. You rest your head on his shoulder as you let a couple tears slip from your eyes. “I don’t want you to go.”
Nate swallows heavily, running his hand along your back. “Come with me.”
A sarcastic laugh shakes your body as you pull back to look into Nate’s eyes. “I can’t just go with you. I have a job here, an apartment, and you live in a different country. I can’t just…leave.”
“I’d help you figure it out, you know we can deal with all that,” Nate whispers.
“It’s so sudden, I don’t even know what we are. Are we together? Are we still friends?”
“We’ll always be friends,” Nathan tells you, leaning forward to kiss you gently. “But I think we’re beyond being just friends at this point.”
You kiss him back, you can’t stop yourself. Because it’s been years in the making. Years of developing feelings. It’s a few minutes before you manage to pull yourself back from Nate again. “What if I can’t find a job in Denver? Am I getting my own apartment? I can’t just move to a new country without some kind of, I don’t know…visa.”
“Slow down,” Nathan says quietly, chuckling. “You don’t need it all figured out today. Come visit for a couple weeks, stay at my place, we can figure out the rest together.”
“Okay…I’ll go with you.”
“I love you,” Nate says gently.
“I love you too.”

“Wait.. you have a kid?! How?!” Osomatsu asks, bewildered. How hasn’t he known about this? Why hasn’t he met the kid yet? He’s a bit disappointed at first, not that he hates kids he just.. it means there’s another parent in the equation right? So he kinda asks you about that whole thing, are they just dead? Or like were they a dick? Or? Is your kid just adopted?
However, he’s very excited to meet your kid! He wishes you told him about your little girl sooner. He’s not worried he’ll mess up at all, (he probably should be). He doesn’t even ask any questions, he just wants to meet the kid.
You were a bit worried.. and for good reason. Your daughter didn’t exactly .. like people. She was anti social. Besides.. things had been kinda difficult for the both of you upon having to take care of her on her own. She’s been waiting for you to introduce her to Osomatsu, the man you’ve been dating for months now.
Your daughter tended to be a bit judgmental, especially when it came to your relationships. D/n may only be twelve, but she has a knack for being able to sniff out unsuitable future dads/moms/parents. The thing about your daughter was.. she was Osomatsus complete opposite. She’s serious, hardworking, an over achiever type of gal. She knows what she wants and will do anything to get it. Point is, you were a little worried about how she would take you dating a literal neet.
As you walked into your house, your daughter was reading on the floor. As per usual. She looked up, he eyes widening a little to see the male next to you. Red hoodie. She stood up, walking up to osomatsu, and he smiled, taking his hand out for her to shake wordlessly, and she takes it, shaking his hand. “Nice to meet you! I’m Osomatsu!” “So I’ve heard. My name is d/n.” She said, her face more deadpan, in contrast to his smile. He didn’t seem to mind though, like he didn’t care, which made her raise a brow. Your past lovers tended to be intimidated by her seriousness.
Seeing how well behaved your kid was, how serious she was. He didn’t even think she was real, she’s literally the perfect child. Seeing how sweet you were being with her as well. God you were a great parent that raised such a well behaved child and he couldn’t help but sigh out of pure love..
Maybe that’s what won her over, and actually be willing to be nice and have a conversation with him.
“Wait so you’re a neet?” “Yes.” “Are you looking for a job?” “Nope.” She lets out a loud sigh as he smirks. “
They talked for a bit, and honestly? Your daughter couldn’t help but sigh at some of the things he said, only making him laugh more. You are surprised she hasn’t blown up in his face yet.. but.. is she… laughing? At a joke he made? That’s so… unlike her..
You can’t help but smile at the two.
Karamatsu is extremely surprised, but he doesn’t mind. He doesn’t ask about the other parent, it’s personal and he understands if you don’t wanna talk about it. Very excited about meeting the child as well honestly. Tries to keep that cool guy act and pretend he’s not overly excited but it couldn’t be more obvious, he always brings it up whenever you see eachother as well. “So.. heh.. how are s/n and d/n.. hm??” Trying to act cool about it. You simply deadpan, “do you want to meet them karamatsu?” “YES!” He then coughs suddenly, “ahem, yes..”
You wondered if he was excited because they were identical twins. Yes, you had two kids. A son and a daughter, absolute monsters. They’re teens though, so it’s to be expected. Being age fifteen was not easy! But.. you often found yourself scolding the two of them for something new.
You weren’t too nervous about him meeting them, it would certainly be an… interesting night. He seemed rather nervous though. You gave him a reassuring smile before walking in…
Only to find a mess before you, as you expected. You sigh, “d/n!! s/n!! Get down here and clean your mess!!” You yell in a tone karamatsu has never heard you yell. Such a motherly tone with strictness to it. He heard loud stomping, only to see the two rush down the stairs. They originally would just rush, and get back upstairs but the two of them stop upon seeing a man beside you.
“Who is that?” s/n cocks a brow, and before you could answer, your daughter interrupts, hitting his arm. “Ow!” “It’s the new daddy right?! Right? I’m right! Right..?” She smiled excitedly, and he couldn’t help but blush a bit. Dad..dy.. maybe one day? You couldn’t help but blush yourself, “this is my boyfriend karamatsu. Karamatsu this is s/n and d/n. Okay you two, clean up and make it quick.” You say as they both quickly nod, yelling a “nice to meet you!” Before cleaning up all the chip bags, clothes, and wires on the floor.
Karamatsu was having a trouble time acting cool in front of these teens. They were oozing with confidence, and that is intimidating. No matter HOW young they are. They are definitely your kids. They have your confidence, your talkative and mischievous personality, your teasing, everything. “Wait so what’s your job?” “Do you live by yourself?” “Do you have any siblings?”
“Kids..!” You looked at them with that stern look, and they quickly shut up. “Sorry!” S/n grins, “maybe we’re being a bit much..” he laughs sheepishly, as so does his sister. “We’re just excited!” She whines, and karamatsu only chuckles, saying that it was fine.. “I understand you have a lot of questions about dear old me..” he adjusts his shades, “I am a sextuplet.. I love with my brothers..” “woaaah!!” “Seriously?! You love them that much?”
“What about the job?” D/n pressed, and he sweats. “As for a job.. heh.. I..” he pauses. Oh god here it comes.
“I have no plans..!”
“Jeez you paused just for that?!” Your daughter says in annoyance, as your son laughs. “Hahahah! This guy is awesome!”
“Really? Awesome?” He asks, trying not to sound hopeful.
“Yeah!” They both say at the same time, smiling.
He had to stop himself from letting out a loud sigh of relief.
Choromatsu spits out his drink, gaping at you. “You have a WHAT?!” He just can’t believe it to be honest, but at least he won’t ever have to have a talk with you about having kids with you (a talk he was terrified of having) so he’s actually thankful you have children already. He was a bit nervous about meeting the two little girls, they were age 10 but they were little demons.
As you walked in the house, you yelled, “girls! I’m home!” and he saw two little girls run up to hug you “mommy/daddy!” You hugged them back, “hey girls.. you gonna say hi?” You gesture to the man behind you, and they back up from the both of you and they wave “hello!” “Hi!” The twins say at the same time. For some reason, he felt like he was in the same room as Todomatsu. Fake cuteness and kindness to it.. god you were so right, these two were gonna be absolute monsters weren’t they?
He was a lot more scared now rather than just plain nervous, however your girls were good at conversing with him despite their younger age, asking him what he likes to watch and stuff. Not really the .. adult stuff. Which he was thankful for, it’s not like they need to know he does nothing… right?
Well, that was until the younger twin said something. It’s always the youngest isn’t it?
“Oh… I… uhm… I don’t really have a job” he rubs the back of his neck, “oh! Why?” She asks, “uhm… because I.. don’t want to..?” He says honestly, and she looks to you “can I not work because I don’t feel like it?” she looks innocently, but you know her better than that, shaking your head no. “Awww!” She pouts, but smiles. “Well, that’s okay! You can just work at home or something, like .. uhm..” she thinks for a moment, the elder twin pops in “like a malewife!”
He felt his face grow red, malewife?
“Okay girls go set up the table for dinner!” You butt in, smiling.
“Okay!” They say in unison, running off, and you notice them giggling mischievously. You roll your eyes.
These two were gonna be a lot, he knew it. But instead of feeling scared, he felt happy, relieved even.
He was a part of a new family now.
Ichimatsu is surprised as well, a kid? Well it’s not like he minds it exactly, he secretly likes kids a lot.. besides this means he can technically have one of his own if he plays his cards right with you. Which hes much more determined to do. A young 12 year old boy, a 16 year old girl. He can’t wait to meet the two of them.
The younger one was… much more energetic, mischievous even. However, he will hand it to him for digging the color purple, as it was obvious from his dyed purple hair, black and purple striped skirt, (yes, your young boy was wearing a cute skirt), a stylish young boy full of confidence. Despite his smirk though, something about him had a similar aura to his own. Then there’s your daughter, complete opposite. Pink clothing to contrast her brother. With a permanent grumpy frown on her face, he assumed that was normal for her, which he wasn’t wrong about.
As he conversed with them for a bit, it seemed like he had a lot in common with the little boy. “Hehe~ I love cats! Big sis likes em too.. she likes to act all tough and like she doesn’t tho!” He said in a teasing tone as for once looks up from her phone and stops texting. “Not true!” She blushes a bit, and he laughs.
He can’t help but smile himself, making your son smirk with a bit of pride at making your intimidating boyfriend smile. He’s definitely been trying to show a good impression this whole time. Unlike your daughter who doesn’t care either way, she’s definitely like Ichimatsu in many ways.
Though by the end of the day, when he didn’t try conversing with her as much as your son she started putting in effort.
“I didn’t take you for an anime nerd.” Ichimatsu admits, “maybe you should meet my brother.” He says, referring to Choromatsu in particular. “Oh shit you have a brother?” “Yeah. Your mother/father didn’t tell you? I have like five brothers.” “Holy shit that’s horrible” your sister looks in disgust, as her younger brother just laughs at her dramatics.
Your daughter showed much more of her true personality upon the shock of him being a sextuplet, and he ended up chuckling at her ridiculousness.
He already loved the hell outta your kids.
“Cool! When do I get to meet them?!” Jyushimatsu asks rather excitedly, and it’s hard for you to be too surprised by that kinda reaction. Of course he didn’t care you had kids.. three, to be exact. Triplets, all three girls. Yeah.. all three. Originally, you had two girls and one boy, but things have changed, and that was just fine by you, who was once your eldest child and only son, was now your eldest daughter.
Jyushimatsu was eager to meet all three, they’re all 16 years old. The eldest, was the “chill” one of the three. She often likes to just relax and can be seen as overly patient and calm. The second, often with a bored or deadpan look, she reminded Jyushimatsu of Ichimatsu. And the third, who honestly was a spoiled brat, she was grumpy at times and she always got what she wanted.
He ended up talking to the girls a lot, talking about being a sextuplet, being a neet, and of course baseball. Your eldest listened, “oh that’s cool! I love baseball!” She went to get a picture showing him pictures she’s taken with famous baseball players, as the youngest rolls her eyes. The second eldest was as quiet as ever as your boyfriend and your eldest conversed about their similar interests, the youngest complaining, Jyushimatsu laughing it off.
He had lots in common with the youngest too, and was able to eventually gain her approval. He eventually talked with the second daughter about things, which was also nice. She seemed to like him. Your second eldest tended to be the shyer nervous type despite the cold exterior that she puts on, so she really liked such a friendly dude.
He seemed to really like them. And he was really good with them. You couldn’t help but think how sweet he was being, he’s always sweet but it’s different. He’s being different with them. It’s nice.. it’s good. He would be such a good dad.
You smile at the thought.
Todomatsu is certainly surprised that you have children. He’s curious to learn more about them too. “So when do I get to meet em!” He’ll excitedly ask, “whenever you wanna totty” you smile, “though, I must admit.. they can be a bit much sometimes” you rub the back of your neck and he gives you a deadpan look. “Have you met my brothers?”
Good point.
And that’s why he’s here now, talking to the three of your kids. Three identical twins!
Technically your son is the eldest, he’s a grumpy guy though. Always yelling or cursing at something, you think to yourself that maybe it’ll go away, he’s only 16. The other twin, your daughter, is much more outgoing and hyper, his complete opposite. And finally your youngest child. They were more of the silent, mysterious type, even shy.
The eldest was nonchalant with him and honestly you could tell your boyfriend was a bit nervous with him. You smack your son at the back of his head whenever he gave a backhanded comment. He didn’t like your boyfriend at first, but he kinda gave in. Only reason was when he noticed how he looked at you when you were helping your youngest with something, it was like that stupid I’m in love with my s/o look.
He got along with the second the most, she’s easy to get along with given her friendly personality. Besides, she is always in on the newest internet drama, she was bound to get along with him the most. She adores him. And of course, the youngest. The youngest got along with him quickly, actually thinking he was pretty cool. They liked his style, his being more pastel and pink, a huge contrast to their emo style. They weren’t as kept with drama but they definitely were in on clothing trends which they both conversed about. They warmed up to him and got out of their shell, even calling him totty by the end of the night along with your daughter, your son refusing to do that.
Seeing how each one of your kids interacted with totty, it was obvious they all liked him.
He was gonna fit in great with this family.

Driving. (Day eight)
I'm alive!!! Kind off... Idk school is though. I am sorry for disappearing last week was the end of the bimester so I had finals and late homework that was stressing me out, but I'm back now!
Anyways, this is part two of the Twins AU

Twins AU Part two
The Wayne manor buzzed with nervous energy as all its residents waited for the arrival of one  Marinette Dupain-cheng.
Despite Damian's threats, the moment Bruce found out about his daughter he contacted her and made arrangements to have her visit America on her school break.
And now that the day has arrived.
"Well, I think we should all prepare in case she turns out to be a female version of demon spawn." Jason said, trying to break the silence, and maybe make Damian angry in the process. Ever since Marinette confirmed that she was going to Gotham Damian had been acting strange, and it was honestly scaring Jason.
Damian lunged at him, "I dare you to say that again Todd!" He yelled, while grabbing him by his collar. Ah, there he is the Damian they know and love.
"Get it off me!" Jason shrieked.
Dick, the peacemaker,  tried to pull Damian away but it was proving to be a rather difficult task.
That's when Bruce walked into the room.
He stopped when he saw Jason and Damian wrestling on the floor as Dick tried to stop them. Meanwhile, Tim stared blankly at the wall with an empty mug on his hand.
Bruce wanted nothing more than to simply walk out, pretend his children weren't crazy.
but unfortunately as a father he couldn't do that.
Taking a deep breath, Bruce opened his mouth to scold them. But before he got the chance he was interrupted by the sound of the front door opening.
Everyone froze, Tim getting so startled that he dropped his mug. "That was my favorite mug," he whimpered, looking down at the shattered pieces sadly.
They all gaped as a petite 16-year-old girl walked in dragging a ginormous suitcase with Alfred at her tail begging Marinette to let him help her with the luggage.
"Grandpa Alfie, thank you for offering but I'm fine." She said.
"Grandpa Alfie?" Dick asked.
Marinette grinned, "Well yeah, Dami told me how he took care of our father when he was young. So, he's Grandpa Alfie!" She replied cheerfully. "Anyways, you must be… Grayson? So… Dick! Nice to meet you! I'm Marinette."
Marinette stretched out her hand, but Dick hugged her instead. "I think you're my new favorite, baby sister."
"I'll have you know that I'm older than Dami." Marinette said with a pout. Then laughed when Dick ruffled her hair. "Speaking of Dami..." Marinette looked around the room until her eyes landed on her twin.
Damian walked over to her, and to everyone's surprise, gave her a small awkward hug. "Nice to see you Mari." Then he smirked, “and you aren't older. We were in a artificial womb so it hardly counts"
Marinette giggled. "You're just bitter that I'm older by two full minutes."
Jason looked at the two in confusion. "Mari? Dami? I- I think I need to lay down." Placing the back of his hand against his forehead as if trying to take his own temperature. "Demon spawn has a twin who is pure sunshine, and… and they have nicknames for each other. Bruce, I think we somehow ended up in an alternate reality. " He concluded dramatically.
"Demon spawn? Wow Dami, I also heard that they call you Ice prince. That's some reputation you got." Marinette teased. Damian glared at Jason. "And you are… Jason?" Marinette guessed.
Jason nodded. "Yep"
Marinette looked at his leather jacket, more specifically the tears and stains that were clearly not caused intentionally for fashion's sake, in disdain. "You need a new jacket."
The look in Jason's face was priceless.
Both Dick and Tim laughed, and Damian looked amused as Jason sputtered.
"Lucky for you, I made you one!" Marinette said, ignoring the laughs. "In fact I made you all something plus a suit for the upcoming gala." Marinette grabbed the bag that held all the gifts and handed them out.
Tim looked at his "Coffee flows through my veins" hoodie. "I have to agree with Dick, Marinette is my favorite sibling now. This is amazing."
Marinette smiled as the rest thanked her. "Oh and Grandpa Alfie, I have something for you too, but I'll give it to you later." She added with a wink.
That's when Marinette finally seemed to realize that her father was in the room. Her father who had been standing back in the shadows watching her interact with her siblings.
Marinette blinked at him. "Uh… i- it's nice to me-meet you Dad." When he said nothing, Marinette started to freak out. "It's it okay to call you Dad? I mean you are my father… b-but if not that's fine." Bruce's cold shell cracked at the girls rambles.
What was it that Jason called her? Sunshine? It definitely fit her, especially after he smiled at her. She lit up and gave him a smile so bright that it could rival the sun.
Bruce couldn't quite understand it, but there was something special about that girl that made a person want to wrap her up in bubble wrap and protect her and love her. Looking around at everyone in the room Bruce could tell that everyone thought the same.
"It's alright, you can call me dad. It's nice to finally meet you too, I do wish that Damian hadn't kept you a secret." He said the last part while shooting a glare at his son.
Marinette laughed at that and playfully nudged her brother. "I know right? I wanted to meet all of you before, but grumpy cat here wouldn't let me." She poked Damian's face.
Surprisingly, Damian didn't snap or… bite her. Which is what was sure to happen had it been anyone else doing it. Instead, he just grumbled and glared at the floor.
"Now that we are talking about secrets…" Marinette reached into her pocket and pulled out a small drawstring sack. "I wanted to give you this," she said to Bruce as she handed him the sack. He dropped the object that was inside into his hand, then looked at his daughter in confusion.
Marinette grinned mischievously, "Damian was no help when I was trying to figure out what to give you, so I made you two suits. But then I found this and I thought it would be a perfect addition." She explained.
Everyone watched as Bruce looked at the little plastic toy and. "Is… is this a toy stamp?" He asked.
"Yup! It has a cute little bat on it."
"I- uh thank you?" He said, still looking confused.
Marinette laughed. "Like I said, blame Damian. But I mean you can use it to… well I don't know… sign notes? Use it if you save a child to brighten their day? If you can't adopt them?" At that, everyone except Alfred and Damian burst out laughing. "I just found it and it reminded me that my dad dresses like a bat and goes out to save the city at night, so I thought I would give it to you." Marinette said.
Jason was probably the one laughing the hardest, "I- I am vengeance" he choked out between laughs. "I am the night… I AM BATMAN… a- and… I… HAVE A BAT-STAMP TO PROVE IT."
They all broke down laughing.
Alfred took the stamp from Bruce and said, "I shall add this to your utility belt, Master Bruce."
Bruce shook his head, it seemed like his daughter would fit right in with the family.
"Ooo are you going to the batcave? That's where you keep the batmobile right?" Bruce nodded. "Can I drive it some day? I can drive you know." Marinette asked.
Bruce chuckled, "You really are Damian's twin."
Marinette smiled. "Yeah, but knowing him he didn't do this when he asked." She proceeded to stick out her lip a bit in a small pout and look up at him with big, seemingly innocent, eyes.
"That must be the so-called 'puppy eyes' Mari talked about." Damian mused.
And they worked.

Love Heals All Wounds (and Embraces Scars) [Binoe x Daughter!Reader]
Tumblr media
requested by anon: Could you do something with binoe the first time they have to pick their teenage daughter up from school because she’s sick?
warnings: mention of surgery and scars
A/N: congrats to the Storm on winning the WNBA championship!! and SBird for her FOURTH **insert goat emoji**
“Megan!” Vlatko calls from across the field, waving the forward over to the sidelines.
Megan passes the ball back to Tobin, abandoning the drill and making her way over to her coach.
“What’s up, coach?”
“Sue’s been trying to reach you for the past ten minutes. Here, she called me.” He holds out his phone, which Megan takes and puts up to her ear.
“Sue? What’s wrong?”
“It’s (Y/N). The school called and said she wasn’t feeling good. They took her to the nurse’s office, but apparently she’s writhing in pain. I’m on my way to pick her up right now. Do you think you can get out of practice and meet us at home?” Sue explains, worry evident in her voice.
You had been adopted by Sue and Megan when you were 14 years old, after they found you living on the streets. You didn’t have the best childhood, bouncing around to different foster homes and group homes, eventually running away to fend for yourself, which is where your moms found you. Although you are now 16, your moms still see you as their baby, and therefore are very overprotective of you.
“Oh my gosh. I’ll be right there.” Megan quickly hangs up the phone, handing it back to Vlatko. “Coach, I really need to go. It’s (Y/N). She’s really sick, and Sue’s going to pick her up from school.”
“Of course, go.” Vlatko nods, knowing how much you meant to the forward, having met you on many occasions.
Megan rushes back to the locker room, gathers her things, and runs to her car. Thank goodness camp was in Seattle. As she drives on the highway, breaking a few speed limits, her phone rings.
“Babe, I’m on my way to the school right now.”
“Change of plans.” Sue tells her girlfriend. “They had to take her to the hospital. They think it’s appendicitis.”
Megan feels her heart drop, and she clenches the steering wheel. “Okay. I’ll meet you at Virginia. I love you.”
“I love you, too. See you soon.” Sue responds, ending the call.
After winding through traffic and speeding through yellow lights, Megan finally arrives at the hospital. Running through the doors, she approaches the reception desk.
“Hi, excuse me. I’m looking for (Y/N) Bird-Rapinoe.”
The receptionist scans the computer and then glances up, an apologetic look written across her face. “I’m sorry, but she’s in surgery right now.”
“Okay, can you at least tell me what room she’ll be in? Or where I can wait for her?” Megan anxiously taps her fingers on the counter.
“I’m sorry, ma’am. I don’t have that information.”
Megan could feel herself becoming impatient. “But——”
“Megan!” Sue calls from down the hall, spotting her girlfriend. The pink-haired woman speed walks towards where Sue is sitting.
“Sue, what’s happening? They wouldn’t tell me anything, except for that (Y/N)’s in surgery.” Megan nervously runs her hand through her hair, as she takes a seat next to the other woman.
“Her appendix is extremely swollen, so they’re removing it and getting rid of any possible infections.” Sue grabs Megan’s hand, squeezing it reassuringly.
“My poor baby.” Megan pouts, leaning her head on the basketball player’s shoulder.
Sue wraps her arm around her girlfriend. “She’s a strong one. She’s a Bird-Rapinoe after all.”
At that, Megan lets out a little chuckle, smirking. “That she is.”
—————
“Excuse me. Are you the parents of (Y/N) Bird-Rapinoe?” The surgeon approaches the two women in the waiting area.
“Yes, we are.” Sue confirms, while Megan nods her head.
“The operation went smoothly, and your daughter is going to be okay. She’s just got out of surgery, so she’s still asleep, but I can take you to her room, if you’d like.”
“Yes. Thank you.” Both Megan and Sue let out a sigh of relief and stand up to follow the doctor to your room.
He opens the door for your moms, allowing them to enter. “I’ll give you some time with her, and I’ll come back a little later once she’s awake to review the recovery process. She should be waking up soon.”
Megan and Sue thank the doctor and take their places on either side of your bed.
“She gave us a real scare, didn’t she?” Megan huffs.
“(Y/N)’s always keeping us on our toes, that’s for sure.” Sue chuckles.
You had always been independent, given your childhood, so adjusting to having parents was a little difficult for you. It took you some time to abide by their rules, learn to communicate with your moms, and eventually open up and be comfortable with them. Not only that, but naturally, you were an outgoing teenager, constantly trying to new things, which would often lead to a worried Megan and a nervous Sue. Your moms were still recovering from the time you did a Sam-Kerr-esque goal celebration, landing a successful backflip after you scored a hat trick.
“Moms?” You croaked, moving to sit up.
“Don’t try and sit up, (Y/N/N).” Sue gently guides you back onto your pillow.
“Here, kiddo, have some water.” Megan hands you a cup. You take a couple of gulps, soothing your sore throat.
“What happened?” You furrow your eyebrows. “The last thing I remember is being at school, and my stomach wasn’t feeling well, so they took me to the nurse’s office.”
Sue takes your hand in hers, soothingly rubbing circles on the back of your hand. “You had appendicitis, honey, so they had to remove it.”
“You mean I had to have surgery?” You cringe at the thought of another scar.
“Yeah, kiddo.” Megan gives you a sympathetic look, taking your other hand.
“Ugh.” You groan, throwing your head back into the pillow. “Just what I needed, another scar. They’re so ugly.” You mumble out the last part, squeezing your eyes shut, willing away your tears.
Sue caresses your cheek and wipes the tears that leaked down your face. “Honey, look at me.”
You sniffle and face your mom.
“(Y/N), your scars aren’t ugly. They are beautiful.” She whispers. You go to protest, but Sue gives you a stern look, one you’re all too familiar with. “They tell your story and show how strong you are. They remind you of how strong you are and all of the times that life tried to break you down but failed.”
By now, you and both of your moms are smiling with misty eyes.
“I guess so.” You mutter. “I love you, mom.”
“I love you too, sweetie.” Sue leans down to place a soft kiss to your forehead.
“Hey! What about me?” Megan teases.
“Of course.” You roll your eyes, a grin playing across your face. Your face softens, as you speak earnestly. “I love you.”
Megan gives you soft smile and leans down to give you a hug without hurting you. “I love you too.” She whispers in your ear.
A knock on the door interrupts the sentimental moment, and your doctor enters the room.
“I hope I’m not intruding, but seeing that you’re now awake, I thought I’d go over your procedure and your recovery process with you.”
“Sure.” You nod.
He explains the surgery he performed and the timeline and procedures of your recovery. He then looks to your moms, explaining what they should do about your bandages as well as the technicalities of insurance and all that boring stuff.
“Any questions?” He concludes.
“Yeah, how long do I have to stay here?” You ask.
“(Y/N)!” Sue exclaims.
“What?” You turn to your mom, confused.
“You literally just got out of surgery.” She exasperates, causing the doctor to chuckle.
“We’d like to keep you here overnight for observation, if that’s alright with you?”
“That’s perfect.” Megan confirms, as you grumble under your breath.
“Alright, some nurses will come change your bandages, and I’ll be back in a few hours to check up on you.” He says, as he heads to the door.
“Thank you, doctor.” Sue calls out after him.
“Why do I have to stay here?” You whine. “I feel fine.”
Megan raises her eyebrows at you, amused. “Really?”
You nod your head.
“Okay, then try sitting up.”
Determined to prove your moms wrong, you move to sit up, but immediately wince at the pain in your side. Laying back down, you let out a frustrated groan.
“Ha. That’s what I thought.” Megan boasts, as she pulls your blankets back on top of you.
You feel your eyes starting to get heavy, your medication kicking in once again.
“(Y/N/N), go to sleep.” Sue gently coaxes.
“But I wanna be with you guys.”
Your moms’ hearts melt at your words, and the two women share a smile.
“We’ll be here when you wake up.” Megan reassures.
“You promise?” You mumble drowsily, your eyes fully closed at this point.
“We promise. Now sleep, honey.” Sue squeezes your hand.
“Love you guys.” You whisper before completely falling asleep.
“We love you too, (Y/N).”

Taking a Break.
(Aug 24 to Sept 14/20)
So.
You may have guessed this was coming with my hinted responses to recent posts. I talked with a few Lovelies behind the scenes to help ease my fears about this decision. I’ve done a lot of reflective thinking for the past few weeks, and I’ve decided that when I have a three week break from work, I am also going to take advantage of that and take a three week break from here as well.
This is not something any of y’all did. Please do not think this. This is a “Steph hasn’t had time for herself since last summer” thing, a “Steph puts too much on her own shoulders because she doesn’t feel she deserves her own time” thing, a “Steph just needs a break” thing. And it’s been made even worse with C-19 because I’m NEVER off of the same computer nor couch. Before, I’d go to and from work, and blogging in the evenings was fun, because I didn’t do it during the day. Then on weekends, I’d answer asks and leave for the gym, spend a bit of my day running around, and come home, play again on Tumblr, and repeat.
Now, on work days, I literally wake up, spend 16 hours on my laptop, and then go to bed. Weekends, I FEEL obligated to be on Tumblr to help curate the community I love treasure so dearly, so ANOTHER day or so of my weekend is dedicated to making sure I have content for the following week to come, because HEY I can’t leave home anyway, MAY AS WELL.
My blog is nearly a full time job, one I volunteer my free time for (I have a Ko.fi, shameless segue). I spend about 30 hours a week answering asks, filing my posts, searching for stuff for people, collecting reblog threads and chains, and generally trying to keep a positive attitude because I know so many of y’all come here for safety, love, happiness, and escapism. And I do it ALL because I LOVE doing it. I love being a curator of fandom. I love having a blog that people know they can come and generally have a good time. I love all of my friends and lurkers and the people who help me make this blog an interactive one.
The problem is that with never leaving home, I am becoming emotionally drained, very depressed, and am slowly not enjoying doing this anymore. I DON’T WANT THAT TO HAPPEN. So after a lot of discussions with a few people and self reflection, I’ve decided I need Steph-Time™, and I need to FEEL like I’m not obligated to be here all the time, just like I needed time away from work. As I explained to my boss, I just need that time to not feel obligated to answer calls and Slack messages without feeling guilty about it. It’s different when I have a Work Computer and a Home Computer. My home computer is supposed to be Fun Stuff. Now it’s not, because work bothers me on my fun computer. He agreed, as did the Lovelies who I talked to behind the scenes.
I love you guys SO MUCH, and I love receiving the asks I get, but some days, a dozen asks daily becomes overwhelming and new fic lists and song recs become intimidating. I need a break. It’s taken me a lot to say that, because I am crying writing this because I feel so many people need me, and I genuinely don’t feel like I deserve a break ever, because there are people who come to me for comfort and need it more than I need a break.
But the ironic thing is that I can’t help anyone if I’m not taking care of myself. How fitting that my own advice to others comes back to slap me in the face, eh?
So, here’s what’s happening then, because I KNOW I can’t 100% stay away from here...
I am taking 3 weeks off from work starting August 24 until September 14. My “obligation break” from Tumblr will be during that time as well. I say “obligation” because Tumblr feels like I HAVE to do it. I don’t want that. I want to see what it’s like being you guys again, just taking in content, and coming on occasionally, post up shit photos of myself, LOL.
During said break, ALL ASKS AND SUBMISSIONS WILL BE TURNED OFF. I want to, IF I FEEL LIKE IT, take the time to answer some old asks. Essentially, I just want to do my blog because I feel like it, not because I NEED NEW CONTENT. Yeah, I think that’s what stresses me out, is because I’m TERRIFIED that y’all will leave me if I don’t keep producing new stuff, so I just.... never stop, and it’s draining me.
As an exception to the off-inbox rule, ASKS WILL BE TURNED ON ON AUGUST 27 ONLY. That is my birthday, and I know some people will want to send me well wishes. If you send me an un-related ask on that day, I probably won’t answer it unless it’s one of those ones I can answer quickly. But yeah, my birthday is on the 27, if anyone is interested in that sort of thing.
WEDNESDAY FIC LISTS WILL NOT BE PUBLISHED DURING THESE THREE WEEKS. Namely because I have exactly 4 lists ready to go, and I plan on using them for the this and the three subsequent Sundays.
Five Fics Friday is still on, as is Fic Rec Sunday. 5FF will probably be fave fics instead of new MFLs, so I’m sorry about that. The Sunday lists are already done and therefore not going to stress me out.
I’m not leaving completely. I’m still here, I just, like I said, need that obligation element removed from my brain. You guys have NO CLUE how guilty I feel every day when I have to choose one or another ask because of the quickness of one ask over another, or the fact that This Day was a Bad Day™ and I can’t answer advice asks in a bad headspace. I need that element removed to just the asks I’ve already got, and let myself answer them on my own time. Draft a slew of them to post when I return (I mean, y’all have been waiting months/years on some of my asks, what’s another three weeks, LOL), and head back with a clear head to better help you guys.
So LITERALLY, the only difference you guys will notice is the lack of NEW posts. My queue is full for the next MONTH, so literally you would not even know I was gone unless you tried to send me an ask or a DM.
Let’s be real here, guys, I’m not going to completely disconnect for 3 weeks. Y’all will be yelling at me to get off and go outside, LOL.
So what am I doing with my 3 weeks then? Updating my resumé, learn some new art skills, go for my Big Walks™ I haven’t been doing, play some video games, get my hair cut, maybe get my cat. Do and post up some of my art I’ve been meaning to finish. You know, stuff that not-losers do, LOL.
Anyway, unlike Mofftiss, please don’t give up on me after three (weeks) :D I just need a mental health check, is really all this is. I’m having a hard time disconnecting work from leisure and I need to do that again. <3
I will be back, I promise!! And hopefully better. <3
This is a very difficult decision for me, because I’ve been running this blog at full steam for about FIVE YEARS NON-STOP. All because I’m scared of hurting people. I hope you all understand.
I love you guys so much. <3

Maddy was practically dancing with joy when Azriel's shadows cleared and she spotted a head of auburn hair beside him,
"You brought her!" She squealed, then calmed herself down, just long enough to make sure Azriel wasn't an impostor, "The stars are bright tonight."
"They shine with the moon." Gwyn narrowed her eyes, and Azriel chuckled, "It's a code, only Maddy and I know it, and now you, it's to ensure that neither of us is compromised." Gwyn nodded, and glanced around the clearing, "It's just us, I meet them one on one, some don't know the others' identities, Maddy does, but she's my second."
"Okay," Gwyn nodded, and turned her attention to Maddy, "You were at the Hewn City, is that where you work?" Maddy shrugged,
"At the moment, but I can get into pretty much anywhere, although I'm not usually a 'guard' I was lucky that no-one noticed me last time." Azriel huffed in agreement, and Gwyn raised an eyebrow at him, "He thinks I'm reckless."
"Azriel said that?" Gwyn nudged him in the ribs, "You're one to talk!"
"Moving on," he muttered, rolling his eyes as both females lapsed into giggles, "Cauldron spare me," he mumbled, waiting for Gwyn at least to stop to breathe, "Maddy, c'mon, shut up." She snorted once more, but she did mange to quieten down, laughter still dancing in her eyes as she looked between Azriel and Gwyn. She was calm, relaxed, still alert, but she grinned at Gwyn as Azriel explained their position, and she smiled back, oh she could definitely get on with this.
"I'll keep an eye on Keir, I wouldn't put it past him to try and stab you in the back with the darkbringers."
"Neither would I," Azriel's eyes were dark, his face near-unreadable as he spoke, "I've contacted those I can on the continent, but I want you on standby to head over there if we need." Maddy nodded,
"What's Gwyn's role in this?"
"I'm helping Az with plans and communication, and I'm backup, I'm not planning on going into the field, if I fight, it'll be with my sisters,"
"You have sisters?"
"I had one, a long time ago, but I meant Nesta and Emerie, if it comes to fighting, I'll fight with them and the Valkyries." Shadows gathered around her at the mention of Catrin, and she could almost sense Azriel's worry for a moment before she smiled again. Once Azriel had finished with his list of discussions, Maddy grinned at Gwyn again, and pulled her aside,
"I thought he'd never bring you along." She whispered, "He's such an idiot, he seems to think we might scare you off."
"He is an idiot," Gwyn glanced around to check that he wasn't listening, "But he's my idiot. And I'll be coming along all the time now, he was just waiting for me to ask, to say that I wanted to come." She offered Maddy another grin before crossing back to Azriel, and gripping his hand,
"Gossiping about me?" He chuckled, but before Gwyn could deny it, wind was rushing in her ears as he winnowed home. Gwyn stumbled on landing again, but kept her feet, somehow it was easier than when Rhys had winnowed her before,
"Az, why is it different when you winnow than Rhys? Isn't it the same?"
"Actually, no, I sort of shadow-winnow I guess, it's not true winnowing, so it different than when someone who can properly winnow does it, but I prefer it. I don't like it when Rhys winnows me anywhere, it's weird." Gwyn snorted,
"I know what you mean, it's disorientating, but you're not much better."
"Azzy? is Gwyn with you?" Gwyn stepped around Azriel, and grinned as she saw Theia stepping out of the house,
"Oh, good, I just got a rather worrying letter from a friend, from Ironcrest." Gwyn didn't notice herself grasping Azriel's hand, didn't notice the way she looked across at him, unconsciously willing him to relax,
It'll be okay, we'll fix it, whatever it is. Breathe. There was no way he could hear the words, but she thought them anyway, and he did seem to calm,
"Let's go inside," Gwyn muttered, following Theia towards the downstairs office, leading Azriel behind her, rubbing soothing circles on the back of his hands, and smiled when he stared down at where their hands joined. She could almost hear the thoughts running through his mind at that moment, so she gently lifted his hands, and softly pressed her lips against them, "These hands saved me, Az, you have nothing to be ashamed of." She whispered before finally going inside.
"Apparently Ironcrest is split down the middle, those who stayed, who are loyal, and those whose families have gone, who are accused of being rebels, I don't know if they all are or not, but she's worried that a civil war might break out if nothing is done."
"But the rebels themselves aren't back?" Azriel's voice was still strained, worried, but he still managed to keep a air of calm around him,
"No, it's just their families, wives and children, they're being threatened and picked on, I don't know what you can do about that, though."
"We can certainly do something, I'll head over there now," Gwyn nodded,
"Let me just grab something for my hair, I'll be right back,"
"No, I'd like you stay here, Gwyn,"
"What? But-"
"It's sounds really unstable, you'll be a walking target for both sides, just let me go and check it out so I know what we're dealing with." She could push him, could force him to let her go, but it would only upset him, and her being there probably wasn't necessary, especially if he needed to be unseen, it was easier to hide alone. She sighed,
"Just be careful, and be back as soon as you can."
"Thank you." He leaned down to kiss her quickly before slipping away, with Gwyn's gaze following after him as far as she could see him. She started at Theia's hand on her shoulder,
"He'll be fine, he's our Azzy." Gwyn huffed, but stayed staring after him,
"I do worry about him. Especially at the moment, he still thinks I'll see this other side of him and leave, that his family will leave him, and he'll be on his own again. He doesn't quite understand that he can't scare me off." She finally turned to Theia, and found only understanding and hope in the female's face, "I don't know what to tell him to make him see that. War is horrible, but he's not, he's not, and he won't see that, he thinks he's irredeemable because of how he's been forced to survive," tears filled her eyes as she spoke, "And it hurts to see him thinking things like that, knowing that I can't make it go away, that I can't help him."
"You do help him. You should have seen him before he met you. You've brought him to life, and you've made them love you too," she gestured to the shadows hiding in the corner,
"Get over here, you busybodies," Gwyn chuckled, and laughed as they raced around her,
"Just tell him how you feel, all you have to do is be there, show him that he can't push you away, that you'll still be there through difficulties. It will take time for him to realize, for him to believe that he deserves you, but all you have to do is show him every day how much you love him." She chuckled at Gwyn's widened eyes, "It's so obvious, even if neither of you will admit it, just make sure you've got a contraceptive tonic," she joked,
"Oh, we're not, I mean, I don't think I can, not that I don't love him, and he's so gorgeous, but I just can't." Gwyn clapped a hand over her mouth, "I'm sorry, I just," she broke off at the tears in Theia's eyes as she closed the distance between them and cupped Gwyn's face in her hands,
"You can always talk to me."
"Thank you, I think I'll get there, but for now I'm still a bit scared, but less every day."
"We all are initially," We? Gwyn blinked her surprise, "Azriel thinks he was the product of an affair, and he's half-right, but I didn't have the heart to tell him the truth." Theia drew in a deep breath, and Gwyn waited, letting her gather her thoughts, speak in her own time. "It wasn't quite an affair, Azzy's father took what he could, but he couldn't take my heart, my courage, my love for my son, and whoever it was cannot take that from you. You are stronger than what happened, and it will take time, but when you want to make that choice, whenever it is, whether that is tomorrow or a hundred years from now, Azriel will be waiting for you, he will always wait for your choice." Gwyn smiled as she recalled his face when she had first kissed him,
"I know."
*****
It was difficult to hide in broad daylight, difficult but not impossible, and Azriel settled into a spot by the training pitch, almost wincing as one particular boy was beaten down again and again, insults spat at him, and it took all of Azriel's self control not to leap to his aid. He wasn't seeing that boy in that moment, all he could see was Cassian, remember the tears that he refused to allow to fall every time he took a fight for Azriel, every time Rhys' mother had to clean him up, every time the instructors punished him for something that wasn't his fault. Every jab from the other boys had him struggling not to squirm, their words were so similar to those old insults,
"Traitor," Bastard
"liar," Bastard
"Rebel," Bastard
"Where's Daddy gone?" That one hit home, and Azriel squeezed his eyes shut to avoid moving, only opening them at the sound of another voice
"Daddy's a traitor," Mommy's a whore. Neither of them had known what that had meant the first time it had been spat at them, both of them, but it was always Cassian who took the brunt of the insults, the beatings. And it was always Cassian who had sought the approval he had never been allowed to have from Illyria, and the way certain lords looked at him still made Azriel's stomach turn, made him want to punch their teeth in, but Cassian could fight his own battles, Cauldron knew he'd had to. The boy on the pitch shouted for the others to stop when he fell again,
"Daddy can't protect you now, little traitor." Azriel's heart bled for the boy, covered in mud, struggling to stand. He screamed when someone twisted his wing, and tried to crawl backwards away from them, but found himself crashing into someone's boots,
"Watch yourself, boy." The warrior shoved him back towards the other boys, and he fell straight back into the mud at their feet, curling into a ball to protect himself, sobbing at every hit. Azriel couldn't take it any more, and he cursed himself as he moved, crossing the pitch, ignoring every questioning glance, but he couldn't just watch,
"Hey! That's enough, leave him alone, can't you see he's down?"
"He's a traitor."
"Is he? And who decided that, you?"
"His father's gone with all the others."
"So? We do not judge the son by the sins of the father," Azriel spat as he helped the boy to his feet, catching him when he swayed on his feet and lifted him into his arms, "You lot are banned from training for a week. Understand?" They quickly nodded,
"Yes, Sir, sorry." They certainly knew who he was then, and the boy in his arms shifted and groaned in pain,
"It's alright, son, I've got you, can you tell where your mom lives?" He muttered an address just loud enough for Azriel to hear before his eyes rolled back in his head and flickered closed. The only signs of life were the slight rise and fall of his chest, and the sound of his breathing. Azriel nodded to the warriors across the pitch, and glared at the male who'd encouraged the bullies,
You and me, anytime. The other male dipped his head, breaking eye contact, and stepped away from Azriel, still glancing over his shoulder long after Azriel had left the pitch. There were clear signs of unrest as he walked through the town, some shops were empty, others full, others smashed to pieces, some houses too. He took a breath before knocking on the door that the boy had said was his mother's, and tried to offer a reassuring smile when a small female opened the door, cringing away from him when she recognized him,
"I haven't done anything wrong," she whispered, dropping her gaze to the floor,
"I know," she glanced back up, and gasped when she saw her son in his arms,
"Oh gods, what happened to him? Is he okay?"
"I think he will be. Some of the others took it upon themselves to single him out as his father's vanished with the rebels."
"Please, my husband is not a rebel, there's been some sort of mistake." She shook her head again and again as she gathered a bowl of water to clean her son up. "I don't know where he's gone, but he's not a rebel, please, I sent a letter, to, to your mother, you have to believe me, please."
"I do believe you, " Azriel said quietly, "I'm not here to question you, I'm here because I couldn't watch him get hurt any more, but I do need to understand the situation here, what more can you tell me?"
"I don't know a lot, the males clam up whenever a female is around, they don't stop us training, but they won't talk about the coming war, the rebels, or anything important around us, I've only heard a few things that I wasn't supposed to hear."
"Those are always the most useful things. Anything you have is great,"
"I suspect you already know that the rebels, and their sympathizers have gone, I don't know where, but there's been a lot of tension between loyalists and those left behind." She swallowed, and handed Azriel a cloth to hold while she went to fetch he healing kit, and she started in surprise when he started to help cleaning the mud off her son, "I've never met a male who'd help with anything like that," she whispered,
"You can't have met many decent males then,"
"No, I live in Ironcrest, I took the best there was, and I do love him, but he's still under the pressure from the others, the assholes, so he doesn't do any chores or anything, but he will sometimes cook for me, mostly if I've had a long day."
"It'll get there, one male at a time, it'll get there. You can help, raise your son to be a good male,"
"Will he come back? My husband? I didn't hear anything from him, one day he was here, and the next when I got back from fetching Callum from training, he was gone. No-one will buy my clothes any more, they say he's a disgrace, even my father looks the other way when I pass him on the street. My mother has been slipping me money, but I'm scared my father will notice, I can't survive without it, but if he catches her," she didn't need to finish her sentence for Azriel to know what she meant. "I know it's the same for others, some have brothers or sons that can still help, but anyone who doesn't, they won't accept our work, I used to be known as the best seamstress in Ironcrest, now nobody will buy my work, they say it's tainted with betrayal." Tears welled in her eyes, "And every day, Callum comes back with more bruises, I know sometimes getting a few little injuries are a part of training, but it's worse than ever before, I worry that one day they'll kill him,"
"I won't let that happen," Azriel swore, "I'll get back to Velaris, and we'll figure something out, thank you, write to my mother if you need anything else, or if there's anything else that happens,"
"Of course, thank you, Azriel." He nodded before slipping back outside, waiting for her back to be turned before leaving a little pouch of coins on the side, vanishing before she could turn back to see it.
*****
With Azriel gone, all Gwyn could do was find Nesta and Emerie, organize the Valkyrie trainees they already had, and plan for training the Illyrian females. There were some who had done some training, mostly youngsters, but Gwyn would never consider putting children in harm's way, never. Nesta huffed when they finally finished the numbers,
"We only have thirty priestesses, and only fourteen who could possibly fight, but fewer who would actually do it." She muttered, "And Illyria, what was it, Em, about a hundred?"
"Yes, that have already had some training, but we should have time to get some intensive training set up, we can gather those who wish to fight into a new, temporary camp perhaps, get some of those more agreeable males to help training them, I doubt Az and Cass will be able to get over there often, we might be able to be there a bit more though." Gwyn nodded,
"If what Theia said is happening is widespread, we may need to move some families for now anyway, are Rhys and Feyre back?"
"I don't think so," Nesta said, "Feyre said she'd let me know when they got home, they're still inspecting the darkbringers as far as I know." She tried to hide it, but Gwyn couldn't miss the flash of worry in Nesta's eyes, and she smiled encouragingly at her, laughing when her head snapped sideways, to the doorway, to the crying. Cassian immediately handed Nyx to his mate,
"I don't know how to stop him crying," he admitted, and Nesta gently rocked him in her arms, crooning softly to the child, and he quietened for a moment, but wailed again, and Gwyn whispered for the shadows around her to go play with him. He screamed in delight when one of them tickled him, grabbing out at them, and giggling in delight. Gwyn smiled, and jolted at a gentle elbow in the ribs from Emerie,
"I didn't know you could control them," she muttered,
"Not as well as Az can, but they like me apparently, so they listen. It's been pretty recent though, they used to just be sort of fascinated with me, and now they occasionally whisper to me, I can't properly understand them, but sometimes I get a couple of words, or a feeling or something," Emerie raised an eyebrow, "You don't believe me!"
"I do believe you, I just think it's funny,"
"Oh shush," she muttered, "Stop that,"
"Stop what?"
"Looking at me like that,"
"Like what?" Emerie asked innocently,
"Like you're expecting some sort of grand reveal, you've been reading too many books," Emerie just chuckled and turned back to Nesta with Nyx, her face softening when her gaze landed on the sleeping baby. Emerie wasn't right for expecting some big declaration, Theia had said it was obvious, did Azriel know? Oh gods, she had to talk to him, it was getting dark, surely he would be home soon. At her worry and sudden confusion, the shadows darted back across to her, hiding her from view, and Gwyn swatted them away, mumbling that they were busybodies, but she did love them really, she loved more than just them. No matter how she tried to ignore it, to convince herself that it wasn't happening, she had to admit, she'd been falling for a long time now. Apparently so had Azriel and she wasn't going to run away any more, she loved him, and she wanted to make that choice, she wanted him, just him, for the rest of her life, and for some reason that thought didn't scare her any more.

✦kind queen of narnia - Edmund Pevensie x Reader
Tumblr media
summary: a new prophecy for the narnia’s kingdom. a new member joining the kings and queens. but...who is it?
warnings: cursing
word count: 3,597
a/n: mi first edmund one shot, i’m so happy!
according to the books the ages of the characters should be different, but in this one-shot their ages will be those agreed by wikipedia reasoning with the actors’ age in the year of recording of the second film (it is an approximation):
Peter - 20
Susan - 17
Edmund - 15/16
Lucy - 12
Prince Caspian - 26
narnia, what a place.
anyone from england would look at y/n and the pevensie brothers in horror if they were told about this beautiful world full of fairytale creatures and landscapes.
they would probably be frightened if they were told that all narnians were preparing to face the telmarines; it would be their second battle in defence of their beloved lands.
they would also worry if they were told that there were prophecies dictating the fate of the teenagers.
the pevensies had been in narnia for a long time. they had grown up and reached adulthood there while time in england had barely passed. their first visit to the dream place had been when edmund was just ten years old and as the prophecy dictated he had betrayed his brother and sisters and then recomposed himself to follow the right path as a faithful ruler of narnia and become king edmund, the just.
when edmund was twenty years old in the narnian world, a gryphon passed over him and dropped a neatly rolled papyrus.
when his time on this earth comes to an end
a damsel with the purity of water and the sweetness of honey will get her start
if you listen well, attachment will flourish
if you listen badly, there will be pain
she is made to avoid pain in all
she is made to bring back peace
that doesn't even rhyme, he thought, and it doesn't make sense either.
even though the prophecy that had just arrived at his whereabouts was revealed to his brother and sisters, none of them understood, what girl was it talking about?
everything took on colour, when a thin figure collapsed against lucy at the train station.
"oh no! i'm so sorry, sweetheart" a girl of about sixteen years of age, apologized sincerely to the little girl who had been moved abruptly by the teenage girl's body. "i thought i was missing my train and i got terribly scared" the y/h/c outlined a sweet smile.
"there is no reason to apologise, we all make mistakes...my name is lucy and these are my brothers and my sister" the little girl stretched out her hand to shake it with y/n’s, while the other pointed behind her to three teenagers in uniform.
a pretty girl with striking eyes introduced herself as susan, while another slim blond boy said his name was peter. the third was immersed in his search for the train's arrival time, so he did not notice the conversation in front of him, the signs on the station walls  seemed to be more interesting. "he is edmund...sorry he is half a fool" as he heard his name, the raven-haired boy looked up to meet a beautiful and delicate girl laughing at the comment his sister had made.
"my name is y/n, it is a pleasure to meet you" her gaze travelled through each member of the family leaving them with a smile; when it was edmund's turn her smile did not come down even though the one he showed her was hasty and if she had not been paying attention she would have missed it.
"where were you about to leave in such a hurry?" peter asked as the five of them move away due to some guards passing at full speed by their side, being all cornered against the wall the best decision they made was to take a seat, side by side, on a bench.
"my parents live in the countryside of england, and because of my school I haven't seen them for a long time so I didn't want to miss my train" y/n explained feeling the look of all the them.
"we were on our way there too! we must visit professor kirke, we haven't seen him for a long time"
that was their first meeting, the first meeting of many. y/n and the pevensies developed the closest and most faithful friendship in the world. they spent all their holidays enjoying the countryside together and when school resumed, they took several trains and walked several blocks just to see each other almost every week.
and although their meetings were frequent edmund did not always seem pleased by her presence. the months passed and although y/n began to develop a crush on the freckle boy he seemed to ignore her every move. even when she bought his favourite sweets to share with everyone or when she would sneak a compliment on his attire on some special occasion. y/n was good at hiding her feelings so only susan knew and she hoped it would stay that way.
it was not until the five of them were waiting for their train to leave for their respective boarding school that the action began.
the train they were to board disappeared and with it the whole station around them, leaving lucy, peter, edmund, susan and y/n standing on a paradise beach.
the brothers began to walk towards the white sand, leaving the cave where they had landed, followed by a shocked y/n
"where are we?” when lucy heard y/n's voice she looked at her sister with a smile and then started to run, getting rid of their school uniforms.
"come on, y/n!" peter shouted as he dipped his feet into the clear water.
she did not resist and followed her friends, leaving a few clothes to play in the water.
edmund saw her laughing, with her wet hair, in the sun and remembered how in love he was with the girl he ignored so much.
"what is it?" asked peter as he saw his brother stop having fun; edmund couldn't admit that the sight of y/n had knocked him out so he had to improvise.
"where do you suppose that we are?
"it's pretty obvious, isn't it? we are in narnia” by this time, the girls had stopped their water fight and were paying attention to the boys.
"well...i don't remember any ruins in narnia”
"narnia?! you must be joking?!" y/n exclaimed.
"yes, narnia" peter said, looking at her as if nothing was happening.
"but...narnia...the narnia you told me as a story from when you were children?"
"they are not stories..."
with that, the brothers began to tour the meadows where, 1300 years ago, cair paravel was located. where now only ruins remained of what had been their home.
the surprise of y/n was not erased and even less so when they found the prophecy that dictated their destiny.
"edmund! this was the prophecy that appeared to you” susan was right but edmund did not want y/n to know that for some magical reason the prophecy had come to HIS hands.
"what? a prophecy about me?" y/n posed her body next to peter who had the paper in his hands.
"no one enters narnia without a purpose" the little pevensie sister explained.
"there is no way i can be this girl! i have no talent, i am not so-"
peter interrupted her by placing his hands on the girl's thin shoulders.
"you may think so, but narnia and its magic is more powerful than ourselves and our supposed abilities"
edmund had to swallow hard not to go and take the girl from his brother's arms. he had no right to take her away. edmund did not know how to approach her so their contact was minimal, to the misfortune of both of them.
those days continued peacefully and then chaos erupted throughout the kingdom.
aslan disappeared and newcomer caspian caused maximum tension.
although the pevensie, caspian, and trumpkin had taken it upon themselves to make her aware of what was going on around her, she was still afraid. she had many people trusting her actions and that they would return the peace.
she had always been a leader and narnia was no exception. y/n was equal to peter and caspian in decision making as she was cunning and quick in making decisions but when it came to attacking came her weakness. there was no feeling inside her body that would leave her conscience clear if she killed or injured any human or creature.
although edmund kept his countenance neutral when it came to her, his heart melted whenever she mentioned her lack of courage to hold a weapon and go on the attack.
"y/n, you coming?" caspian turned on his axis before leaving for the battle on the castle of miraz.
"i can help with maps, plans and strategies but with this...i can't, sorry”
edmund had heard several creatures criticize the girl's lack of courage to confront a hand-to-hand fight; and he could not help but think that he maybe was disappointed by her attitude too.
"why is she here if she can't even pick up a weapon, of any kind, without shaking?" the freckled boy would adjust his armor before going into battle.
"don't be mean, edmund. she is too good to go out and kill someone" his older sister tried to talk some sense into him, especially because before edmund entered the room where susan was, y/n had retired just a few seconds before but susan knew that she was not far enough not to hear their conversation; and hear the boy who she liked talk so badly about her would not be a nice moment.
"or she's too much of a coward" was a fact, y/n was listening to the whole conversation, as she felt her heart breaking.
"if she bothers you so much that she doesn't fight, show her. you are the best at using the sword in combat in all of narnia"
"I won't" at the end of the day he wasn't so brave after all.
now it was y/n who ignored him. whether in meetings or in their free time, she did not even give him a glance and he noticed. because edmund was very attentive to what she was doing or not doing, so it was not difficult for him to see her practicing with prince caspian her fighting, on the beach, more than one afternoon while he went for his walks.
it hurt him but he knew that her distancing was his fault.
caspian did not question the reason for the girl's drastic change, he only offered to help her and she accepted.
they spent hours covered in sweat and sand but she did not seem to mind, she wanted to prove a point to edmund and herself. her days were divided into training, alone or with others, and creating plans and strategies. her rest was almost non-existent and her tired figure was beginning to show. her breakfasts were short and quick like any other meal of the day. she ate with her head down and conversed with anyone but edmund.
one cool night edmund tried to sleep in his large room but the sound of a sword moving and colliding with a shield prevented him from doing so. from the high window it was impossible for him to decipher where it came from but he assumed that it meant no danger as none of the guards seemed alert; but he still descended in search of the owner of the sound.
when he entered the courtyard below his room he saw her. covered in sweat and with her sword in her hand as she moved abruptly against an armament tied to a tree. edmund found y/n’s invention very ingenious and was even more surprised to see her move almost perfectly, it seemed almost natural to her.
"what are you doing here at this hour?" after minutes of watching her from a few meters away, the younger pevensie brother approached.
"I could ask you the same thing" y/n did not even move her eyes, she just approached the tree to accommodate the armor tied with leather.
"I was trying to sleep but an unbearable noise woke me up, Ijust wanted to know who was causing it...now I know"
“I didn't know it was so annoying" edmund still couldn't see her face.'' I'll stop now..."
gently, despite being preparing to go out and kill men and creatures, she put her sword in its compartment hanging from her hip, and then dried her face with a wet piece of cloth.
"why are you doing this anyway?"
"some people don't believe me strong enough to fulfill the prophecy...they think I'm a coward" y/n looked into his eyes for the first time and edmund understood what she meant.
"you should stop. you look exhausted, besides I didn't-"
"keep it to yourself..." already when she had passed the freckle boy's body petrified in the garden, y/n continue "and it seems that it is never enough, so yes. if I need to keep practicing"
edmund knew that she was absolutely right. before she started her daily combat lessons, she gave everything she had from what she could. she had taken risks and was adapting to being the future queen of a place, which until a while ago, was completely unknown for her.
y/n would not admit it but that night she cried like never before. she did not know exactly if it was tiredness, confusion, sadness or that she was heartbroken. but whatever the right choice was, that night she fainted in a tearful dream without managing to take off her sweaty clothes.
the next morning she appeared at breakfast as if nothing had happened. clean and unpolluted in a freshly washed and ironed dress that accentuated every attribute she had. lucy had heard her crying and was dying to ask what was so terrifying that made her cry like that, but seeing her serious countenance when y/n saw her brother sitting at the table, despite her young age, lucy easily put it together.
after preventing jadis, the white witch, return to narnia. caspian and his allies had no choice but to confront the troops of miraz in front of the altozano. meanwhile, lucy and susan were leaving in search of aslan. y/n did not go with them. she remained at the site of the battle.
when everyone was out ready to fight, so was she. edmund had seen her keep medical supplies anywhere in the armour she found space with the intention of helping any wounded being she might encounter. he felt extremely guilty; she did not want to be there and should not have been. she could have quietly stayed in the shelter ready to help anyone who came looking for a hand but he had pressed her with words he did not even feel.
to gain time the camp became a personal battle between peter and miraz. both begin to fight to the death. both armies gathered around the stone platform where the two men were fighting hand to hand. edmund looked at y/n who was standing next to a centaur with her perfectly placed weaponry; her serious countenance hid any doubt or fear that her brain was processing.
although the elder pevensie managed to have a dying miraz in front of him, peter did not kill him.
"you are too much of a coward to take a life, king peter?" miraz, despite being on his knees almost dead, kept on fighting.
"it's not mine to take"
with that said, the blond man stepped back to give the sword to y/n; who looked at them perplexed. she understood that she must do so to fulfill the prophecy. she had all eyes on her and her trembling hands that took the sword and stood before the wounded man.
edmund saw tears welling up in her beautiful eyes as she looked down at miraz. y/n placed the tip of the sword on the man's neck with her chest rising and falling violently.
the freckled boy wanted to run towards her to hug and kiss all her nerves and fears away but he couldn't.
as the seconds passed and the girl did not move from her place, a laugh was heard in the telmarine’s army and that was the limit.
edmund gently approached the girl and placed his hands on top of the sword taking it out of her hands
"let go, it's okay" he whispered as, with the help of his hands, he pushed her back to where she was before.
by that point the tears had already come out of her eyes and at that moment she felt like a real coward. she felt the disappointed looks despite her head being down and the tall stature of edmund in front of her limiting her view.
"stupid girl, this is not the girl of the prophecy! she is just an idio-"
when edmund wanted to turn around and finish the work that peter had started, an arrow pierced miraz’s chest and chaos began.
despite her blurred vision, y/n remained on the battlefield. she had escaped from edmund's side when the war cries were first heard.
although she did not use her sword she was fast enough to escape the attacks and manage to help those wounded in the meadows.
the two armies were facing each other in battle and when the narnians were about to lose, lucy found aslan. the lion awakened the narnian trees, allowing them to come to the aid of the narnian army.
amidst the screams and sounds of colliding swords, aslan called out to the water god, who drowns much of the telmarine army.
and the war is over.
in the midst of the destruction, everyone begins to celebrate with smiles on their faces despite the large number of narnians lost in battle, there was cause for celebration.
the pevensies had met aslan and on the seashore, they were enjoying a good chat.
"where is y/n y/l?" asked aslan curiously "she fulfilled the prophecy perfectly"
"but she was not who killed miraz, it was caspian who had to see the kingdom free" trumpkin seemed upset and the desire to kick his little figure flourished in edmund.
"you don't need to kill someone to restore peace and help your people"
with that said, edmund began to look for her with his eyes...and found her. sitting on a stone, passing a natural ointment on a faun’s arm.
at that moment the boy understood that y/n should not learn to fight and use weapons to save narnia. with her kindness, intelligence and healing skills it was more than enough. he wanted to tell her. he wanted to tell her what an idiot he had been in wanting to force her to do something she was not even meant to do.
without saying a word edmund ran off in her direction.
when y/n saw him quickly approaching her, she stood up from her place and watched him as he arrived and took her arm to walk into the forest.
"I know what you are going to say and I am sorry..." as soon as the boy slowed down his pace the two faced each other in the middle of the forest lighted by rays of sunshine piercing the tree leaves. they were less than a metre away and yet edmund wanted to be even closer "I know you are disappointed in me, I know you all are... but i could not, ok?! I just could not! I cannot be queen of narnia with this attitude, I did not make it. I did not fulfill the prophecy and now-"
edmund took his face with both hands and brought it close to him, silencing her hasty and nervous speech; in less than a second both were immersed in a deep kiss that y/n took a few seconds to reciprocate due to her surprise. her hands travelled to his chest covered by the narnian battle uniform as his hands caress her cheeks softly.
the kiss was quick but sweet, as if they were frustrated romantics who had not been able to kiss each other for centuries.
when the kiss broke both chests went up and down as if they had finished running a marathon, but despite this they could not let go. now edmund's arms were wrapped around her and her arms caressed his neck as they looked at each other.
"you saved narnia without the need to kill anyone, you earned narnia without using force if not kindness"
"you're not disappointed?" a slight surprise occupied the boy’s body.
"all your training and you coming out to fight today, was because of me?"
"I just...just wanted to be enough for you" y/n was sincere, there was no need to lie.
"the conversation you heard between susan and me was a mistake, I would never be disappointed in you and you are far, far away from being a coward and you proved that from the minute you set foot in this kingdom"
she rested her forehead on his as a response.
"I am so in love with you" he sighed realizing the chill that ran through the girl's body.
"today is your lucky day king edmund, because i am more in love with you" a small laugh broke out from both of them.
"impossible"
with that said, they both joined in another kiss. this time a slow one. they had all the time in the world.
after all they were king and queen of narnia, no one could rush them.

A Person Who Has Never Played MCSM Writes A Story About MCSM Chp. 16
He should be at the shrine right now.
Leaving the shrine again without telling anyone will make the Visions furious, especially after what happened last time, but Jesse needed to see her. He needed to know if she was there. If she was alive.
He managed to claw his way to the top of his old home, his hands were aching, and healing skin had been torn, but he didn’t have time to pity himself. He didn’t give a damn about himself, about anything, all that mattered was Olivia.
Jesse thought he’d never see the day where he was excited to be here again, but the thought of seeing Olivia--holding her in his arms--it excited him.
And if she was alive, then Lukas could be too! They can all be together, they can all live in the shrine, far far away from Aiden and the others, and they can be happy again. They can be together.
The roof used to be Jesse’s favorite place to go to whenever he was stressed. He could lean over the fence, look over the town’s rooftops, watch the clouds roll by, and forget his worries. Lukas would often join him. He’d write his stories, they’d go back and forth sharing ideas, then he’d get to hear Lukas read their story out loud.
Jesse approached the trapdoor leading to the attic. It’s always had an awful lock, which used to be a pain, but now? It was a blessing. Jesse was able to open the door with ease and make his way inside. The ladder was covered in dust and cobwebs. This place hasn’t been visited in years, he bet.
Jesse quietly closed the trapdoor as he descended the ladder; he thought about how much Lukas would love the shrine. The interior, the garden, the gatherings, he could get so much inspiration. And Olivia! She’d love the Awakening’s appreciation for redstone dust. They understood it’s value as much as her, maybe they’d even let her use some of it for her inventions! They could make so many gadgets again, it’ll be fun.
Jesse navigated through the cluttered attic, being careful not to knock anything over as he passed through boxes filled with items he used to treasure. Scrapbooks, letters, handcrafted weapons, and other old, random items that he and his old friends collected throughout their adventures. Strange looking rocks, flowers that were withered beyond recognition, pieces of relics, whatever caught their attention back then. It was amusing at the time, but now they’re all worthless to him. Junk.
For a moment, Jesse thought about searching through the boxes and taking memories of Lukas and Olivia back to the shrine with him, but that’d cause a ruckus. Besides, they’ll make plenty of new memories once they’re reunited.
‘What if she’s not here?’ A voice in Jesse’s mind asked. He shook his head.
She has to be here. Aiden was so scared when he slipped up. There was no way he could’ve been lying. Olivia has to be here.
He will find her.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Stella paced around the room.
“I locked the backdoor, I locked all the windows on the first floor,” Stella said to herself, “Maya told me she’d block her windows, and I made sure to lock the guest’s rooms windows, and--well, our windows can’t be open, but maybe we should board them up?” Stella’s steps quickened.
Their room had two windows. The one closest to Gill was covered by a bookshelf, but the other was unprotected. They had a desk, Stella’s dresser, chairs, and a beanbag. They could possibly stack furniture up to block the window, but what if a quake suddenly happened? What if someone slams the door too hard? Stella’s bed is closest to the door, what if the whole thing comes tumbling down on her? What if it crushes someone?
Gill watched Stella from his bed. She’s been pacing for nearly half an hour.
“I had to lock the windows in Aiden and Cassie’s room and the door to their balcony because Cassie’s gone and Aiden--!” She rushed over to the window and pulled the curtains away. She pressed her face against the glass, “For some reason he left with Olivia and Jess despite the fact that OUR Jesse is running loose through the streets! Does he WANT them to get killed?!”
“I’m sure he’s got a good reason.” Gill said, trying to reassure Stella.
“I heard the door opening, I heard their voices, why didn’t I do anything to stop them? I’m not making anything better--”
“It’ll be okay! I bet they’ll be comin’ home soon.”
“But what if they don’t? What if they get caught, or hurt, or wind up missing, or dead in a ditch?” Her heart was beating faster. If something happened to them, she’d never forgive herself. But they’re adults, they’ll be fine! They can handle themselves! But what if they’re caught off guard? What if something unexpected happens? It’s late, anything could happen. But--but Aiden’s a great fighter, he’s used to--he can--
Stella hurried to her dresser. She pulled open a drawer and took out the first clean top she saw.
“I’m going after them. We need to find them.” She grabbed a bundle of arrows.
“Hey, hey now hold on a moment!” Gill exclaimed, getting off his bed.
“I’m just afraid of--Eep!” Stella turned and immediately jumped back. Her arrows fell, scattering over the floor. She wasn’t expecting Gill to be behind her, she didn’t even hear him approach.
Stella started picking up the arrows.
“Sorry, sorry, didn’t mean t’scare ya!” Gill knelt down and grabbed a couple of arrows.
“I know you’re real nervous ‘bout everythin’... ‘N I am too, but Aiden’ll be okay!” Gill wasn’t sure if he even believed himself. Who knows what Aiden’s doing right now. Aiden probably wanted to do something nice for Jess and Liv, but his train of thought was probably all over the place, especially with Jess around… But Gill didn’t want to make Stella panic more.
Gill handed Stella the arrows, “Maybe we just need to think ‘bout it. What’s the worst case scenario?”
“They could be killed.” Stella answered. “They could be taken and we’d never know where.”
“Right, and what’s th’best case scenario?” Gill asked. He got a bewildered look from Stella.
“The best…?” Stella’s mouth hung open, “I suppose they’d come back home in one piece. Unharmed.”
“Yeah, maybe they even picked up one of those scones ya like at that cafe.” Gill smiled.
“At 12 PM?” Stella looked back at him.
“I’m--Well, ya know,” Gill got a li’l red, “just thinkin’ of the very best case.”
Stella let out a chuckle.
“What ‘bout the realistic scenario? Ya know, what’ll probably happen.”
‘They’ll get hurt.’ Is what Stella wanted to blurt out, but she didn’t. She took a deep breath, holding it in before finally exhaling. The most likely scenario…
“Aiden, Jess, and Olivia will probably come home later,” Stella started, carefully placing the arrows on the dresser, “Aiden will go to bed, Jess and Olivia will be wide awake, and when we wake up we’ll figure out how to deal with this situation.”
“Right, that’s what I was thinkin’.” Gill nodded, “I know ya want ‘em to be safe, ain’t nothin’ wrong with that, I just don’t wantcha worryin’ yourself sick. After what’s been goin’ on, we all need some good sleep.”
Stella kept staring at the top of her dresser as Gill made his way back to bed. He was right. They’ve been running around nonstop, she needs to take it slow.
Stella placed the top back into the drawer. If she wants to be prepared for what tomorrow brings, she needs to be well rested.
Stella went to her bed and laid down, sinking slightly into the mattress. She glanced at Gill, who was looking real cozy buried under his blanket. He peeked at her and gave her a smile.
“Sleep well!”
“You as well,” Stella said, getting under her blanket, “and thank you. I mean it.”
Gill hugged his pillow, “Course, anytime.”
Stella slowly closed her eyes, telling herself that everything will be okay. Aiden will come over, Jess and Olivia will be in one piece. They’ll be okay. They’ll come home, sleep, and things will be okay.
It’ll all be okay.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Stella woke up, but she kept her eyes shut.
She’s woken up midday when she was stressed before. This isn’t anything new.
She forgot to close her curtains too; she didn’t want to be blinded by the Sun.
She was sweating.
She felt disgusting.
Her whole body felt stiff and sore, and the longer she stayed awake, the worse it got.
Her stomach was hurting. It was getting hard to breathe.
She tried to take a lungful of air, but she couldn’t.
Stella tried to turn to her side. But she couldn’t.
She couldn’t move.
Something was on top of her.
Stella opened her eyes. She was about to scream until Jesse slapped his hands over her mouth.
Jesse sat atop of her, staring down with bloodshot eyes. He looked like he had just been crying.
“If you scream…” Jesse whispered, “I’ll kill you.”
His fingers dug into her face. His hands smelt like rust.
Stella’s eyes darted around the room. Her breaths quickened when she saw their bedroom door was wide open. Why? Why didn’t they lock it?
Stella shot her hands out and grabbed onto Jesse’s arms, trying to pull them away, but he wouldn’t budge.
Jesse’s nails dug into her face, “Stop it--Stop it! Don’t make this harder for both of us.”
Jesse looked to the side. Gill was still asleep. The last thing he needed was Gill making things more difficult.
“I just want you to answer some questions, can you do that for me?” Jesse asked, his thumb caressing the skin below Stella’s eye.
“You can answer, I can leave, and then we can pretend that this was all some bad dream. How does that sound?”
Stella wasn’t fighting.
Carefully, Jesse took his hands away from her mouth, expecting Stella to give quick, quiet replies, ready to get this terrible exchange over with…
But Stella tried to scream again.
Jesse grabbed her throat, silencing her. He shook and choked her until her mouth shut. Until he was certain she wouldn’t try that again.
“Don’t be stupid--don’t--I know you’re not this dumb!” He spoke through his teeth. He quickly looked at Gill again before looking back at her.
“Just listen and answer. That’s all I want you to do.” His grip loosened.
“I’d rather rot than--!” Stella was cut off when Jesse’s clutch tightened once more. She can’t let him do this. She needs to at least try.
Stella tried to thrash around under Jesse’s weight. She tried to throw off his balance, wriggle free, but she was getting weaker each second. The world was starting to blur; her vision spotting and ears ringing.
“They’ll all find you dead on this damn bed. All because you can’t listen.”
‘Lie to him.’ A voice in the back of Stella’s head said. She didn’t have time to argue with herself. She looked at Jesse and mouthed the word ‘Okay’.
Jesse stopped. He didn’t let go, but he stopped.
Stella’s heart was pounding. She wondered if Jesse could feel it.
“There we go. Now then...” Jesse said quietly, his fingers pattering the side of her neck. There was a strange, fixated look in his eyes.
Jesse brought his eyes back to her’s.
“Where’s Olivia?”
Stella froze.
She needs to speak slowly.
“Why in the world do you think we—“ Stella couldn’t get another word out before Jesse slammed her head down. He was treating her no better than a rag doll.
“Don’t you lie—don’t you DARE lie to me!” His voice shook, “You have her, I know you do. She wasn’t in her room. Where is she?”
“We don’t have her! You...” Stella swallowed and gave him a broken look. “Jesse, we both saw her in that ravine. She’s gone.”
Jesse was silent for a moment as he stared down on her.
“We looked down there for hours.” Jesse slowly spoke,  “We wanted to find her hat. I wanted—I wanted every last part of her. I had to. I kept looking. Even after we found her, even after her funeral, even after all of you had given up. I did everything I could to find that last memory of her…”
“So why… Why did YOU find it? You don’t… You don’t deserve it. You didn’t—I was—I was the one who—” His voice was cracking.
Stella watched as Jesse barely kept himself together. He trembled, blinking back tears while his heavy breaths wavered. For the first time in so long, Stella felt sympathy for him.
“I know.” Stella whispered, “And I’m so sorry. We don’t have her, and I don’t have her hat. I wish I did, but—“
“That’s not what Aiden said.” Jesse said.
Stella’s eyes widened.
Seeing her reaction, a small, sick smile started to form on Jesse’s face.
“I knew it.” He grinned. He leaned down, getting close to Stella’s face.
“You can’t hide my own friends from me.” His breath was hitting her skin. “So I’m going to ask you one more time: Where. Is. She—”
A loud, low creek interrupted Jesse.
Stella and Jesse turned, and there stood Gill, frozen midstep. He glanced at Jesse, to his feet, then back at Jesse.
“Ah, ya weren’t… Ya weren't supposed t’look over.”
Before Jesse could react, Gill came charging at him and slugged him right in the gut. Jesse went flying off of Stella and hit the dresser, creating a large crack down the middle. Arrows and clothes flew.
“I got Jesse! Go get Maya!” Gill hollered.
Stella ran out of the room shouting Maya’s name.
Jesse got up and sprinted to the window, but stopped and cussed when he saw there was no way to open it. He could slip through door and leave the way he came—
Gill suddenly rammed Jesse into the window; Jesse’s head collided with and cracked the glass. He grabbed Jesse around the waist, fingers digging painfully into his skin.
Jesse faced Gill and started hitting and clawing at him.
“Let go, let go NOW!” He shouted. Despite being hit several times, Gill wasn’t budging. He was squeezing his eyes shut and taking whatever Jesse was giving.
“Ya can’t run this time! Ya got nowhere to go!”
“I was gonna leave but then YOU came and ruined everything! That’s all you do—that’s all you’re good for! Getting in the way!” Jesse’s words only made Gill’s grip stronger.
Jesse could hear Maya’s voice now—and the front door was opening. No, no, this is the last thing he needs. He managed to get a leg free and started kicking at Gill’s face, getting more desperate by the second.
Gill’s nose was crooked and bleeding, he could feel bruises form, and he knew he was gonna get a black eye, but that didn’t matter.
“Jesse, ya can go to prison, or ya can stay with us—“
“I’d rather DIE.” Jesse spat.
Through all the noise, Jesse could make out Aiden’s voice. He was coming closer. The others will be coming too. What if they manipulate Olivia? What if they make her hate him too? What if they take her away?
Tears were welling up in Jesse’s eyes, but then he saw it. In the corner of his eye. An arrow.
Jesse held Gill back with one arm and reached for the arrow. Once it was in his grasp, he raised it high into the air, rolling his eyes back till the whites remained, and prayed to the Hero to give him a fatal blow before bringing the arrow down to Gill’s face.
Gill gasped and moved. The arrow barely missed his face and was plunged deep into his shoulder. He let out a cry and tried to tear it out, giving Jesse enough time to escape Gill.
Footsteps were coming closer, Gill was shouting for his friends, and Jesse could hear Aiden calling his name. He won’t make it to the attic in time.
Jesse rammed his elbow against the cracked window. He kept hitting and hitting until it finally shattered. He took one last glance behind him--catching a glimpse of Aiden--before jumping out.
He squeezed his eyes shut and covered his head while midair. He hit the ground with a loud thud. His body was aching and there was glass in his arm, but he had to go. He needs to leave.
Jesse pushed himself up. The whole world was spinning.
He looked back at that vile house one last time, and as he started running, he saw the front door was still wide open.
He kept running, and that’s when he saw it.
Saw her.
Through the door, there she stood.
It was only a glance. A small, little glance, but that’s all he needed.
As Jesse ran further and further from the house, a smile returned to his face. It grew wider and wider until he was grinning ear to ear. His pain and worries disappeared as he hugged himself so, so tightly.
He could hardly contain himself. He can’t remember when he’s been this happy.
A few chuckles escaped his lips, then he let out a wonderful, joyous laughter as he pranced through the town.
He laughed, and laughed, and laughed.
He laughed when he left that horrid town.
He laughed as he sprinted across the field.
And he kept laughing when he entered the shrine.
Yes, oh yes, it’s all so wonderful.
She’s alive.

16 Yengilla 🥺
Hey Aaliyah!! Sorry this is so late btw- I got way too involved by Yen and Fringilla bonding over lack of accomodations for schoolwork, but c’est la vie I guess.
16.) One person pouting, only to have it removed by a kiss from the other person.
———
“It’s not fair!” Fringilla says, scowling when her potion doesn’t bubble like it’s supposed to. “How are you so good at this?”
“Practice,” Yennefer says, sing-songing in the way she knows Fringilla just hates. She can’t help but annoy the girl- Fringilla’s always been so good at everything she does at Aretuza.
Probably because her great-uncle is a mage, Yennefer had thought bitterly many a time. So it’s gratifying now to see something she’s not good at.
...or it would be, had it not been Yennefer’s job to make sure her potion skills were up to par. Honestly, between this and the tutoring Tissaia has her do, you’d think she was trying to make Yennefer Aretuza’s next professor or something!
“Alright,” Yennefer says finally, trying to keep the sigh out of her voice. “Show me your process.”
Fringilla blinks. “You want me to make this potion again?”
Yennefer understands her disbelief- under ideal conditions, the potion takes about an hour to make, and Fringilla’s already spent nearly two trying to make this failed batch. Still…
“It’ll be the fastest way to help you,” Yennefer says, briskly snapping on a pair of potion gloves. “Come on, we don’t have time to waste.”
Between the two of them, they manage to divvy up reagent preparation quite nicely. Occasionally, Yennefer looks over to where Fringilla is grinding her petals, but she’s doing it correctly- perfectly textbook, even!
Strange, Yennefer thinks as she cuts and guts the necessary stems. Problems as big as the ones Fringilla’s been having usually stem from faulty reagent prep, but if she’s doing that correctly, then what-
And then they get to the portion where Fringilla has to lift her small cauldron over the fire, and it all snaps into place.
“You can’t lift your cauldron into position properly, can you?” Yennefer says, eyes fixed on Fringilla’s good hand where she’s clutching the cauldron for dear life. Her other hand, the one she’d withered on their first day here, hangs limply at her side. “Why didn’t you ever ask for help?”
As soon as the words fall from Yennefer’s mouth, she knows she’s made a mistake. The seldom-seen anger on Fringilla’s face just underlines that fact.
“I did,” she spits, slowly lowering her cauldron to the ground with a shaky hand. “And Tissaia never did anything- just said I had to work hard and catch up because this level of quality was ‘unacceptable’.”
Yennefer blinks in shock, but then she remembers her own struggles to get the help she needed- her back didn’t allow her to perform the more difficult physical tasks, and she’d lobbied for ages trying to get the accommodations she’d needed for the classes. She’d finally gotten them when she’d told Tissaia it looked like the Rectoress had wanted her to fail, calling her teaching skills into question- she’s quite touchy about those, Yennefer’s found.
Fringilla is… scared of Tissaia. All the students in their year know this. None of them are quite sure why, but it’s evident in the way she often goes rigid around the Rectoress, in the way her eyes go wide and white, darting from wall to wall as she tries to look away. No wonder she’d not been able to get accommodations from Tissaia.
Yennefer’s not one for pity- she’s tasted enough of it from others to know she hates it. What she does next is not pity- it’s simple empathy.
“Stay here,” she says, walking towards the door. She takes a quick look into the hall- good, no one’s around- before shutting the door closed and locking it tight.
“What are you doing?” Fringilla says, eyes darting over to the closed door. “Yenna, what-”
“Try it now,” Yennefer says. “But use the lifting spell we learned last year.”
Fringilla gapes. “Tissaia’s told us not to use that!” she exclaims, eyes wide in shock. “She said it interfered with the potions!”
“She lied,” Yennefer says simply. “It’s just to force us to do it the hard way- something about how that builds character supposedly.”
“No,” Fringilla frowns. “She wouldn’t do that… would she?”
Yennefer huffs and goes to sit on a stool. Gods, her back is killing her. “Believe me or not, there’s no way either you or I can lift that cauldron without the spell.”
She’s about to crack, Yennefer can just feel it. Still… “How do you know she’s lying?”
Yennefer looks at her dead on. “Because she told me.”
As her words pass over Fringilla, the girl thins her lips and her eyes go sad. For a moment, Yennefer is filled with pity- Yennefer’s not trusted an adult for years now, but Fringilla’s not like her. The girl actually does trust adults- or most of them, anyways- despite all the ones at Aretuza continuously showing that they’d rather throw the students into the fire to see them rise or die.
If she closes her eyes, she can still taste the ozone in the air from the lake of eels underneath this wretched place.
“Alright.”
Yennefer jolts back to the present. “Hm?”
“I said, ‘alright’,” Fringilla says, voice loud and defiant. She flinches at the echoes and quiets down her next sentence. “I’ll do the spell. You told me to.”
I’m trusting you, Yenna, Yennefer catches from her thoughts, baffling but wondrous before she turns away and casts the spell.
Chaos parts- it’s always a thrill to see the silver threads of the world bending and shifting. They shine against the tan of Fringilla’s palm, the brown of her fingers. What would those fingers look like, Yennefer wonders, next to mine?
“What next?”
Yennefer jumps. For some reason, heat rises in her face- Fringilla doesn’t seem to notice, too focused on the textbook next to her.
She breathes in, shaking the thoughts from her head. “Get the reagents ready. We’ll need to…”
The next hour goes by fast- it’s mostly a lot of stirring, with an occasional flick of their fingers to keep the flame alive. They should be using their fire tools, but Yennefer manages to make a very good case- “what’s a little more magic?”- and Fringilla seems to come around. At the very least, she doesn’t protest when Yennefer turns up the flame again.
Finally, they have their potion- a smooth, pearlescent concoction which is supposed to temporarily smooth away wrinkles and facial blemishes. The potion is something they’ll sell to court ladies and lords, to keep them from looking weak and old. It’s not that useful for them- they’re too young for wrinkles, and they’ll never get them once they Ascend.
...They do have blemishes though.
“Shall I try it, then?” Yennefer says, wafting the potion.
“Shouldn’t I try it?” Fringilla says. “I mean, it is my potion after all.”
“You?” Yennefer snorts. “We couldn’t test it on you, what would you need it for?”
Fringilla frowns- no, pouts. “Don’t be mean, Yennefer,” she says curtly.
Yennefer gapes. “I’m not trying to be mean!” she protests. “Your face is flawless, Fringilla!”
“Not flawless enough to land a Ban Ard boy,” Fringilla scoffs.
...Wait, what?
“Fringilla,” Yennefer starts slowly, trying to put the pieces together. “Are you- do you like Istredd?”
“What- no!”
“Then?”
“I just-” Fringilla blows out her cheeks and frowns- no, pouts. “I just… want to be wanted,” she says softly, like she doesn’t really want Yennefer to hear.
But Yennefer does, and she is baffled.
“Wanted?” she repeats, utterly confused, and a little irritated, actually. With the exception of Tissaia, Fringilla is the teacher’s pet of their year- why the fuck would she think she’s not wanted?
Fringilla ducks her head and- is she- is she blushing? “You have Istredd,” she mumbles. “And Sabrina has… well, just about everyone she wants. I’m the only one who doesn’t.”
That’s… certainly not untrue. All of the girls their year have had some form of lover at one point during their time here- all except for Fringilla. But Yennefer had always thought that was by choice, because really, who wouldn’t want to step out with Fringilla?
Fringilla, who’s near the top of their class, who’s perhaps the smartest in their year. Fringilla, who knocked over at least one Ban Ard boy when she smiled at him, and possibly one of their Aretuza juniors as well. Fringilla, whose sense of humor is hidden most of the time, but has made her and Sabrina devolve into stitches on the rare occasion she does break it out.
...Fringilla, who Yennefer’s just realizing she might have a crush on. Fuck.
“You’re wanted, Fringilla,” Yennefer says belatedly, but even as she says it, she knows it’ll fall on deaf ears.
Fringilla’s pout deepens. “Don’t pity me,” she says, turning away.
“I’m not,” Yennefer protests. “I- here, let me show you.”
And before she can overthink it, she takes Fringilla’s face in her hands and kisses her.
It’s soft at first, and a bit dry. Both of their lips are chapped from spending the entire day down in the cold potions room, but then Yennefer tilts her head and their mouths slot together, and it’s good, it’s good, it’s good-
Fringilla pushes her off.
“What the hell, Yennefer?” she spits, face twisted in anger. Fuck, but it only makes her prettier. “What was that?”
Yennefer blinks, taken aback. “I- sorry, did you not want that?”
“No!” Fringilla says, growling. “Why the- why the fuck would you try to kiss me?”
Yennefer inhales, trying to keep the weird, shocky ache in her ribs contained. “I’m sorry,” she says again, not knowing what else to say.
Fringilla huffs. “You should be.”
Silence falls over the room. There’s a steady drip-drip-drip from one of the faucets- they need to shut it off before they leave, Yennefer thinks hazily, doing her best to swallow around the ache that’s slowly grabbed a hold of her lungs and throat.
“You need to tell Istredd.”
Yennefer blinks. “What?”
Fringilla glares at her, eyes suspiciously shiny. “You need to tell Istredd,” she repeats, teeth gritted. “You’re going to tell him you- you cheated. If you don’t, I will.”
...Wait, what?
“Fringilla,” Yennefer says, “You’ve got the wrong idea- I didn’t cheat.”
“Like hell you didn’t!” And oh, Fringilla must be mad to her gills if she’s cursing this much- normally, you can’t even get her to say ‘shit’. “You just fucking kissed me- are you going to pretend that’s not cheating?”
Ah. Well, Yennefer can’t really blame her- in a usual relationship, that would be considered cheating. In her and Istredd’s though…
“We talked it over a while back,” Yennefer explains. “We’re each other’s main partners, and probably always will be, but we’re ok with each other taking other partners if we wish.”
Fringilla blinks. “That- really?”
“...Does that bother you?” She’s not going to lie, it’s going to hurt if it does bother Fringilla. Not because she apparently likes her either, but because Fringilla’s been her friend for years, and to have her judge her…
“No!” Fringilla says. “I just. I never knew that was possible. Liking more than one person, I mean.”
Yennefer can certainly understand where that’s coming from. “Well,” she says, unapologetic. “It is.”
Fringilla nods. “Right.”
They lapse into silence then, and it’s so awkward that Yennefer wants to crawl out of her skin. She almost says something, anything to break the weird atmosphere, but Fringilla’s just… contemplating quietly. Yennefer doesn’t quite know what it is, but something tells her that the wait will be worth it.
And it is worth it, because Fringilla looks at her again, then leans in and says, “You still haven’t answered my question.”
“Oh?” Yennefer says, just made a little bit breathless by the curve of Fringilla’s eyelashes, “Mind repeating it?”
Fringilla smiles, soft and maybe a little bit shy- it’s one of the cutest things Yennefer’s ever seen, and fuck if it doesn’t make her weak. “Why did you kiss me?”
“Because I wanted to,” Yennefer says immediately, startled by how raw her voice sounds. Because I want you, she doesn’t say.
Luckily, Fringilla seems satisfied by that answer, since her smile gets wider. “Do you… do you still…?”
To that, Yennefer just tugs her in again.
