okay. oh my fucking god. oh god, okay.

this is INSANE. this is absolutely fucking crazy. what i’m about to recommend you is absolutely fucking mind-bogglingly pants-shittingly bonkers in its brilliance, so y’all better read closely.

it’s always the fics with the shortest, least descriptive summaries ever, the ones you absent-mindedly stashed in your “marked for later” and forgot about them, isn’t it?

anyway, this is a masterpiece. in every definition and understanding of the word. there are too many great points about what’s going on in this fic and why you absolutely have to read it, so forgive me if i’m gonna be pretty incomprehensible and incoherent rn, okay?

first of all, the way this fic just ties the whole of the st universe together, the way eddie munson doesn’t just spawn out of nowhere in the beginning of s4, but actually exists in hawkins all this time. the way he witnesses all the crazy going-ons in town from the sidelines, and still has his own opinions and thoughts on them, even if he didn’t actively take part in them. just, love to see it.

second of all, different “first” meeting. oh my god, but how i love thee. obviously it wasn’t really the first meeting here, but steve and eddie coming together before the original timeline is something i will never get enough of, and it was done brilliantly here. the way their first conscious interaction happens when steve comes to apologize for being a piece of shit, and the way the narrative, from eddie’s pov, never lets you downplay and just forget that steve was, in fact, a douchebag in high school, is also something i love to see. yes, he’s forgiven, but not because he wasn’t that bad in the first place, as a lot of fics love to make it out to be (which, i don’t blame them, that’s also fine), but because he actively works to become a better person. we see him, time and time again, actively holding himself back from sliding into the “king steve” persona, owning up to the shit he did and proving that he has changed, and it’s beautiful. and it’s also nice to see here, because eddie doesn’t even find out about all the upside down shenanigans in this fic, so for him, steve isn’t a better person now because he saw him in his heroic martyr era and was impressed. he’s better because he doesn’t just let these objectively heroic and admirable actions automatically absolve him of all his sins, but actively works to repair the damage he did before he committed them. which also happens in canon, i guess, but i really love how it was shown here.

third, eddie. characterization in general, but eddie’s in particular, because oh my fucking god. he’s absolutely insane in the most humane and captivating way possible. the way he has so much history that made him the way he is, the way we see this past overlap with the present and realize how it affects the decisions he makes, the interactions he has with other people. and the way his past was written in general, the way it flashes him out so deeply as a person is absolutely brilliant. and the way he sees the world around him, the way his perceptions of the moments we catch him in is so deep and full of volume, dimension. it’s like one second you’re with him, listening to the conversation he has with another person, and another - in a wave of sound and music he taps on his leg with his fingers, in the songs he hears reverberating through every feeling he has. and the author is so masterful with throwing you around from one plane of reality to another, the way eddie is in his brain, and it’s so much it’s almost overwhelming, but they catch you just on the edge in the last second and keep your brain from being torn apart from trying to comprehend the absolute insanity going on in eddie’s head.

it really felt like this fic was repeatedly slapping me across the face and all i could do was deliriously ask for more.

and, while we’re on the topic of characterization, literally every character and every interaction between them are so real and so fitting for who they are in this universe. the way even through eddie’s warped perspective of him, steve’s actions and views fall into a perfectly functioning justified mechanism for the reader, not a screw out of place. the way through simple, and, on the surface, absolutely mundane conversations about the horror and romance genres, about the characters in the book eddie’s writing (he is, btw, and it’s also brilliant), we see the whole of who these characters are, how they see the world and themselves in it, their deepest fears and desires. and even aside from steddie, a personal stand-out for me was jeff, because he has a whole life outside of eddie’s narrative, and still manages to contribute to the plot and give insights into eddie and himself while not being a cardboard cut-out, only existing for the benefit of pushing eddie’s story forward. and the rest of hellfire - past and present - while mostly serving the purpose of showing how precious steve’s attention and care for things they didn’t get about eddie is, are still their own people.

whatever the next number is, i’m losing count, - the language the fic is written in. it’s just so fucking clever. the dialogues are witty and captivating without stinking of made-up-ness, the metaphors are so deep and colorful and voluminous without being pretentious and over the top. the words of this fic are something you have to chew on before you swallow, let the author immerse you in the picture they’re painting without breezing from one predictable trope point to another (which, they aren’t really predictable and expected here, which is another huge pro) in the everlasting greed for cheap escapism, as i am prone to doing. and that’s another thing i’m really grateful to this author for - making me sit with the words i’m reading for a second, instead of just gorging on them in my haste to get to the end and start another story, frantic to keep my brain occupied.

also, this fic genuinely had me endlessly invested in the fate of the characters, scared shitless or elated for them. it yanked me right out of the usual safety of predictable plot tropes which usually makes fanfiction so attractive for me, but i really wasn’t complaining. on one of the most stressful and deciding scenes of the fic (no spoilers tho), i genuinely started crying. i felt eddie’s resignation and anguish so deeply and personally, i couldn’t hold back if i wanted to. and that’s another thing i’m extremely grateful for - the absolute rollercoaster of emotions i went through before i got the reward of the happy ending.

i would also like to say that i was floored with how period-typical homophobia and other social issues were presented in this work. obviously, i can’t really vouch for it being realistic or not, because i’m not american and wasn’t even alive during that time, but i can say that it did feel very very real. in a lot of other works that talk about these issues the homophobia and societal judgement seem like such nebulous, far-away concepts, that are obviously real and have a tangible impact on the characters, but it’s like their still escapable, still out of reach (which, again, is not a bad thing). but here i felt like the repercussions for being who you are were physically breathing down my neck, incapacitating me with horror. and, on that note, just, the author’s overall attention to detail and period-fitting pop-culture and other little things that painted such a larger picture of living in that time period, tying the fictional story so tightly down to it. it felt so grounded in reality, that i felt like a person could tell me their older relative had gone through this in the eighties and i would believe them. but, as i said, i’m obviously not an authority on that topic for aforementioned reasons.

and also, aside from the reader’s perspective on the work, as a person who tries to write myself, i realize that this is the level of writing skill i’m aspiring towards. this is what i want my works to feel like to a reader, and i’m really not there yet, but seeing works like these inspires me so much to grow.

also, i would’ve absolutely loved to see a little bit more of robin there, to find out how this change in the canon narrative would affect the events of the s4, to see how steddie’s relationship would develop and transform with the upside down thrown into the mix. and that’s definitely not a slight against the fic for not including this things, but more of a testament to how greatly invested the author made me in their version of the story and how hard it is for me to let go of it. this fic is perfectly complete without those things, but, once i got a taste, i couldn’t help but want more and more, even though this story definitely isn’t in any way lacking or in need of those to feel whole. but that’s mostly my selfish desires speaking, don’t mind me.

and, here, have a couple of snippets with no particular reasoning behind them, just because they made me giggle:

i’m getting real rambly and i’m genuinely afraid this whole post is absolutely unreadable with how frantic and jittery i am in trying to get this off my chest, but when i’m telling you i was buzzing with this word-vomit, almost frothing at the mouth with the need to express the absolute glorious hellscape this fic left me in after i finished it, i’m probably underselling it.

so, in conclusion, please read this fic. please please please read this fic. if not for my sake or the @fabelds-blog’s (who got criminally little recognition for this masterpiece), then for your own, because i can guarantee you that not one second of reading this work will feel like a waste of time or a disappointment. *me, pointing a gun at you with shaking hands while tears stream down my face* please, PLEASE read this fic, because it’s absolutely worth it.

I've been here for only a year but I feel like I've seen it all, and the excuses oh my god the excuses. You are all 15-19, you should not have the mental capacity of a 8 year old. Your common sense is non existent and almost all of you guys are so fucking stupid it's pissing me off more than any god can understand. You are old enough to have logical thinking skills, you may have a disorder and it may be a reason but not an excuse.

Alot of you have forgotten the saying "Think Before You Talk" and I've sure as hell done alot of thinking. This is my deep dive into editblr.

Ableism

Typing quirks are a way of personal expression but why do so much of you hate to add plain text. I can understand to extent because plain text hates my head because of how long it can be but I'm not gonna act like a little bitch about it. I'm gonna add my typing quirk or even fonts itself to it.

I'm gonna ask someone to help me, or to do it for me. Stopping making excuses for ableism. Alongside with the typing quirks, your psds are ugly and eyestrainy. Psds also fall under racism because I have no idea why you guys are ignoring the fact some make dark skin characters lighter but in the case of ableism most of them are really bright and makes it hard to see.

Orange and brown? Green and yellow? Blue and brown? Why are you putting colours that can be so much eyesore together? And won't even tag as eyestrain and when someone does ask you only do it for one post.

Romanticization

This one is weird as fuck and I see no one mentioning it. Editblr highkey has a ddlg problem, this "little girl" aesthetic you guys have going on borderlines ddlg alot and its icky. The baby talk typing quirk is disgusting, stop it.

I'm not one to judge how someone copes with their trauma but what I DO judge is how you act when majority says its uncomfortable. Now this section I'm a bit unsure how to phrase it, gotta love dyslexia, but that isn't going to stop me.

There's alot of very uncomfortable romanticization of stalking which I've seen so much of alongside abusive relationships and the justification of these things.

Racism

Really can't escape this one unfortunately. Many of you are like kpop idols, you're too dyslexic towards the difference between appropriation and appreciation. Incase you forgot let me remind you.

You can not gift japanese names. Gifting names is a native practice therefore you can only gift native names. Also I've noticed you weirdos befriending people just to use their cultural names. I can't even say it east asian fetishization because its only Japanese.

Also for the love of God can you guys stop saying nonmem and non women especially when referring to sexualities. It's not hard to simply say "queer attraction to women" and "queer attraction to men".

Coming back to the "gifting" names thing, I think it's interesting how all of you conveniently have a Japanese friend who "gifted" you the name of a cute pink anime girl. Maybe I'll do a post later on how much of a bad liar you guys are.

Closed symbols is also another big problem you all have. No matter how much times you're told you can't use something you always cry "but my friend from xyz culture said it was ok!" One person can't speak for a whole culture. You're nothing but a coloinzer in disguise hiding behind the idea of aesthetic. If you want to know if a symbol is closed just use this site.

Goddess Personas

Yea this one is getting a whole section of its own. Like any people I am uncomfortable with goddess personas, especially being someone with biblical sources. Now the idea that a teenager on the internet is making people call them a goddess is strange isn't it?

In my opinion, they're all annoying, copy and paste, and I think not a lot of people talk about how the really bad ones get. You all love to indulge them, make them think they have power over them. You put them on a pedestal and praise them and get surprised when it all goes to their head?

Stop giving 14 years old power, stop indulging in their habits and letting it go their head. Forcing people to refer to you as their goddess? Their Lord and saviour? Their idol? Someone they must listen to? It creates a power inbalance which always leads to the weirdest of manipulation. Also all the engagekiss copiers are so obvious why would you want to copy the identity of a groomer? It says alot of about yourself if that's what you think is ideal.

Callout Posts

Now, personally, I believe that the only reason a callout post happens is because someone was affected, does it not? Very rarely would a callout post would be a fake one, especially if someone has more then one. If you defend someone who has more than one call out post that's on you and you're gonna end up making one some day I can genuine you that. People don't make them for no reason.

George Russell - Birth chart analysis

Disclaimer: This is for entertainment purposes only, nothing observed or taken away from this should be considered fact. As a reminder, I know fuck all about Formula 1, I just like fast cars and have a dumb amount of knowledge of astrology and tarot. 

I really like his chart, I think that it is relatively balanced even with the level of emotion he has in his chart. I think that there is also a lot of importance for others throughout his chart, it’s clear to me that George deeply cares about others that he surrounds himself with. He is a day-one road dog if you will. He has so much compassion and care for others, that it is actually kind of intense. 

He does have an Aquarius Stellium, so there is an emphasis on emotional intelligence, the need to care for others, and being this source of comfort. Stelliums are intense, so again, there is a lot of emotional intensity, where he feels a lot at once and I think that can play into how he expresses emotions and himself. His eighth house is also a little crazy with some pretty big placements, but I think that it’s a really good mixture in there.

THE PLANETS:

Sun - Aquarius 

I have never met a Sun Aquarius who was not a weird person. They’re some of the weirdest, but most down-to-earth and passionate people you’ll ever know. There is so much love, passion, hope, and friendliness all in one person it’s honestly overwhelming sometimes. There is a lot of fluidity here as well, it’s an outgoing person who loves to be surrounded by others who also need time to themselves, someone who is going to be outspoken and incredibly defensive in their words but knows when to keep quiet and let actions speak. I’ve seen a lot of memes about George being the rich gossiping aunt, and honestly, yes. 100% this man is so judgmental of others, but he does it in a way that is not driven by emotions. George is going to be one of the best people to have a conversation with, he actually cares and listens to what is being said. I think once you get past that weird, kind of goofy exterior it will be one of the most rewarding relationships a person can have. 

Moon - Libra

I love this placement, especially with the friendly sun sign we get. A Moon in Libra is about awareness, knowing what is happening around you, and with who, and formulating a plan to move forward. It’s also a sign that tells me George has a deep admiration for the finer things in life, I have no doubts that he absolutely loves art museums, and learning about the cultures that he gets to experience through traveling. It’s in my opinion, one of the more romantic Moon placements because of this deep appreciation for the arts and beauty. With this placement though, I think that there is a fine line between natural charm and potential manipulation.  

Rising - Cancer

Cancer Rising is emotional intelligence, it’s a deep caring for those around him, and a need to make sure that those around him are fine. It’s a willingness to risk his own health for those he cares about. I wouldn’t say that he is an empath by any means, but there is so much empathy to be found. He is a great support to those around him that have been deemed worthy. With his Moon Libra being so aware, I think that the emotional awareness is off the charts. He knows when something is bothering someone, and has this natural instinct to do what he can. I think once his first Saturn return is finished, we will see things kind of level out and there will be a lot more emotional regulation and growth. 

Mercury (Planet of intelligence) - Aquarius 

Mercury Retrograde has got to be hell on earth with George, oh my god. Mercury is in its native position, so it’s just magnified, which means the retrogrades hit a little harder. This is where I think a lot of that gossip comes in, there is such an interest in others and wanting to know what is going on with them and their lives, that it’s kind of natural. He’s a people watcher, it’s probably a favorite pastime, like making up silly little stories when he sees someone at a coffee shop or a park or something, and it comes from this deep interest in others and wanting to know their lives. He’s intelligent, but I think that some of his quirkiness can make people question his intelligence. 

Venus (Planet of love and pleasure) - Capricorn

This is one of my favorite Venus placements because to me this placement indicates taking its time and approaching relationships with a little bit of caution. It’s a loyalty like no other, a security that extends to every aspect possible. With a Capricorn Venus there is so much passion, care, and almost obsession once that connection is there. 

Mars (Planet of physical energy) - Pisces

This placement is really interesting to me because it’s such an emotional placement. We have an overwhelming amount of emotion in his chart, so I think that there are a lot of emotions being expressed through physical action. It becomes too much internally so we figure out a way to express it externally. The one thing about this placement though is that it can hold a grudge, for an unreasonable amount of time. George is bringing up things from years ago, and he has the screenshots to back that shit up. 

Jupiter (Planet of luck, optimism, and success) - Pisces 

I think we go back to walking that fine line between being an excellent communicator and potential manipulation here. There is a lot of natural luck here, but that luck requires teamwork and being able to work directly with others. I think that there is going to be a lot of success for him, only if he continues to build a strong team and support system. 

Saturn (Planet of responsibility)  - Aries

Girlies, his Saturn return is gonna kick his ass. I mean that in the best way possible too. He has some lessons he needs to learn, and he’s going to learn them one way or another. It’s probably not going to be a gentle process either. He’s 26 right now, so he’s probably entering that pre-Saturn return era where things are starting to feel a little rough and like he doesn’t fully know what his responsibilities are. This is a placement of resilience though, because it’s constantly introducing obstacles into your life that need to be overcome.

Uranus (Planet of change and originality) - Aquarius 

Aquarius is actually ruled by Uranus, so we love this. I think that this is obvious with his quirks and weird personality like George is going to be himself and be completely unapologetic about it. The best part of this placement is that George is adaptable to change, like he is willing to be flexible if he believes it will bring more benefit to himself and his career. 

Neptune (Planet of mystery and illusion) - Aquarius 

George is the mom friend of the group, and I have no doubts about that at all with this placement. It’s a care and concern for those around him. George wants to be a support to those around him, and he makes this known. He makes his intentions known to those around him, and values upfront honesty. 

Pluto (Planet of death and rebirth) - Sagittarius 

This is the placement of truth, knowledge, and understanding. I think that we see all three of these things through his chart already. I think that there is a need for honesty, and with how aware he is, he would know if there was any dishonesty or hidden agenda. I again have a little concern over potential manipulation being a thing that he uses to get his way. 

THE HOUSES:

Fourth house (House of home) - Moon 

George is protective of those that he lets into his inner circle, especially those that he has an emotional connection with. I think that there is a value more to emotional connection than physical connection here. I think that there is a tendency to get lost in his thoughts, or what his ideal reality would be, and there can be a disconnect that happens. 

Sixth house (House of service and Health) - Pluto 

I have more concerns about the health aspect of this placement than I do about the service aspect. When it comes to the health aspect, there is this ability to overwork oneself and neglect one's health. I understand that there are high-performance athletes, and obviously have some of the best medical teams out there, but unless there is a holistic approach to make sure ALL aspects are being met, I think that there is a reason for concern here. 

Seventh house (House of marriage and partnership) - Venus 

George is a romantic, like truly. He wants there to be total fulfillment in his relationship and subsequent marriage. There is a lot of natural affection too, it isn’t anything that is forced by any means, it’s just two people that are drawn together and feel the need to be affectionate with each other. While I won’t make any assumptions, I believe that there is often an early marriage, so while he is relatively young we may see a marriage. 

Eighth house (House of death and regeneration, and legacies) - Neptune, Uranus, Mercury, and Sun 

The sun placement here tells of non-stop self-improvement, he is always going to be working on bettering himself and what he can achieve. There is going to be a legacy of sorts left behind, but I don’t think it will be in the capacity that everyone expects.  Mercury brings a lot of motivation here as well, again it’s wanting to know what motivates someone. Uranus brings some more of that quirk and whack to this, but also a heaviness. George feels a lot of responsibility for others, and I think that is going to become more of an issue now with a significantly younger teammate. Neptune 

Ninth house (House of mental exploration) - Jupiter and Mars 

Jupiter becomes more about physical exploration, so I think that George is thriving with the traveling that is done. I think that there is a knack for communication, I don’t think language barriers are much of an issue for him either, like there is just a natural ability to communicate with those around him. Mars is again about travel and understanding others' positions and attitudes. I think with George there is a lot of importance in being with others and surrounding himself with people that can challenge him intellectually. 

Tenth house (House of career)  - Saturn 

This is one of my second favorite placements. Saturn here is influencing the level of responsibility that is being felt and meeting the expectations that are being set for oneself. I think with his Saturn being at a disadvantage, there is going to be more success in terms of his career when he finishes the first Saturn returns and things start to come together.

Pairing- Peeta Mellark x fem!reader

Warnings- none. fluffy fluff fluff.

Most people wouldn’t consider Peeta Mellarks smile something to be afraid of, in fact they’d find it charming, kind, soft, like most. But to me, his smile is dangerous. Oh, so dangerous. I would do anything for that smile, and that’s what makes it so lethal. I would do anything for Peeta, and to me, he is fatal.

“Honey, go get dressed I’m taking you on a picnic.” And yet, with his sweet eyes I could tell there was more to his words than he led on.

Oh, but when he looked at me with those eyes, with any eyes as long as they’re his; I can’t help but be entranced. They’re like a sweet symphony I can’t get enough of. He is my favorite song I could never get sick of. And who am I to deny him?

I smile at him, with that sickly sweet smile he pulls out of me every time, without fail. Getting up to get dressed for a cool summer day.

Peeta of course, already has everything prepared; grabbing the picnic basket, blanket, and his sketchbook. With protests to help him, he lets me carry his pencils. I would argue to carry more, but I’m afraid he would take away what little I’m already holding. I’m happy with our unspoken agreement.

I walk hand-in-hand with Peeta, and mindlessly start humming the song he was singing to me this morning. Sometimes, on the nights when he can’t fall back asleep, he’ll go to the study and write. Write anything. At first, it was just his thoughts, and like Peeta, eventually these notes became softer, more poetic. At some point they evolved into songs, and I was always the topic. But God, I was lucky to be his song.

“I love it when you sing. Your voice is like the Ocean, so much depth.” And he’s looking at me with those eyes again, and suddenly I’m a child with a schoolgirl crush.

“I love it when you write. When you write anything Peeta, you’re so versed. Have you showed any of your writing to anyone?”

“Why should I when the only opinion I care about is yours? All my work is about you anyway.”

I just giggle, because that’s all I’m able to do as he often leaves me speechless like this.

Suddenly we stop and all that engulfs my vision is a field of lavender. My body turns on instinct and I fling myself into Peeta’s arms, thankful that he already set the stuff down.

“Baby, it’s so, so beautiful! And it smells so good.” I close my eyes and take a deep breath letting the euphoria hit me. “Thank you so much.” I pull him into a kiss by his neck.

When we pull away, I can swear he looks a little drunk after that kiss, and my knees feel simply weak.

“You’re welcome my love.” He smiles brightly, and that alone is poison.

I help him set down the blanket, getting everything nice and neat before we’re both plopping down. As I reach for the basket to help unload, he motions a ‘stop’ and I pull my hand away.

“It’s a surprise, and I want to see the look on your face when I show you what I brought.”

And again, I’m smiling that sweet smile, that only he can provoke.

He fiddles with the latch speaking a quick, “Close your eyes.” before pulling out all the items.

“Okay, open!” He says drawing out the ‘y’.

When I open my eyes, I’m amazed to see all my favorite foods. “Peeta…” I look up to him, doe eyes prevalent and filled with emotion. “I can’t even express how in love I am with you… Thank you.”

“You express it every day, darling. I love you.” He kisses me. I’m in love.

“I can’t believe this; you must have spent so much time on it.”

Peeta chuckles, “Oh I did, but I did it for the look on your face, and it was everything I wanted.”

“I’m glad.” I laugh and I kiss him again, because in this moment, there’s nothing I could say to make the scene before me more perfect.

I look at the rows of lavender in front of me, and I can’t help but feel like I’m in a dream. A dream that was long and hard to fight for, but such an amazing dream.

I look back as his eyes linger at me, and I can help but get all shy like its our first date all over again. I look down avoiding his gaze, grabbing a strawberry from the container and taking a bite. But my attempt to shake his stare fails. And I liked that it failed.

“Why are you looking at me like that?” I laugh.

“You’re just so beautiful. So, so beautiful.” And he says it genuinely amazed, like he’s in a museum admiring his favorite work, and he really does make me feel like art.

First, let's outline the theory.

Please note, like any other fan theory, there are always minor differences of opinion. So, we'll cover the basics that most people seem to agree on.

Daenerys, Jon, and Tyrion are the three heads of the dragon.

To defeat the Others, they will each mount a dragon and travel as far north as possible, beyond a curtain of light, where they will encounter a Lovecraftian, apocalyptic dimension filled with all kinds of monsters.

While they are beyond this curtain of light, they will engage in life-affirming activities in the face of death. Some believe this could manifest as Tyrion learning to love himself, childbirth, or a sexual encounter between Jon and Daenerys.

They will then sacrifice themselves and their dragons to defeat the Others. Presumably, much will go up in flames.

Apparently, this epitomizes the theme of the human heart in conflict with itself and will serve as the conclusion of the story.

Now, for the evidence...

Oops, there isn't any.

If you've ever had the privilege of reading someone discuss this theory, you'll have noticed a glaring lack of textual support. Nevertheless, I'll do my best to piece together a coherent argument for why this could happen.

(Honestly, I'm a bit bitter that I'm putting in more effort to prove this theory than anyone else has.)

What does it mean when something is Lovecraftian?

To borrow from dictionary.com, 'Lovecraftian' pertains to elements reminiscent of the works of fantasy and horror writer H.P. Lovecraft, especially those that depict monstrous, misshapen beings from other dimensions or universes.

George R. R. Martin, a fan of literature, incorporates numerous Lovecraftian references in his A Song of Ice and Fire series and its associated works.

Examples include:

Leng (Island): Inspired by Lovecraft's Plateau of Leng.

Sarnath (City): Likely inspired by the city of Sarnath in Lovecraft's "The Doom that Came to Sarnath."

Ib (Island/Civilization): Possibly a nod to Ib from "The Doom that Came to Sarnath."

K'dath in the Grey Waste: Inspired by Lovecraft's Kadath in the Cold Waste.

Church/Cult of Starry Wisdom: A probable reference to the same cult in Lovecraft's "The Haunter of the Dark."

Deep Ones: Likely inspired by the aquatic creatures in Lovecraft's "The Shadow over Innsmouth."

"What's dead may never die": Possibly inspired by Lovecraft's phrase "That is not dead which can eternal lie / And with strange eons even death may die."

The Drowned God: Possibly a nod to Lovecraft's Cthulhu.

Dagon: An Ironborn-associated name, also an ancient being in Lovecraft's lore.

The Black Goat of Qohor: Possibly a reference to Lovecraft's Shub-Niggurath, the "Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young."

N'Ghai and Nefer: Likely inspired by Lovecraft's N'Kai, an underground realm associated with Tsathoggua.

Are you noticing a pattern? These nods to Lovecraft are mostly found in peripheral settings, with minor association to the Ironborn. George tends to make a lot of references to all kinds of literature in a similar fashion.

I'd hesitate to jump to the conclusion that this implies the existence of a parallel universe with otherworldly monsters, accessible via a portal in the far north. But since this is appearing in the evidence section, I guess we'll do that anyway.

Moving on.

The words "curtain of light" appear in a Bran chapter. One time. In only this chapter.

Finally he looked north. He saw the Wall shining like blue crystal, and his bastard brother Jon sleeping alone in a cold bed, his skin growing pale and hard as the memory of all warmth fled from him. And he looked past the Wall, past endless forests cloaked in snow, past the frozen shore and the great blue-white rivers of ice and the dead plains where nothing grew or lived. North and north and north he looked, to the curtain of light at the end of the world, and then beyond that curtain. Melisandre also references curtains, though they are clearly different curtains than Bran's curtains. Whatever, it's fine.

What is commonly accepted is that the Age of Heroes began with the Pact and extended through the thousands of years in which the First Men and the children lived in peace with one another. With so much land ceded to them, the First Men at last had room to increase. The Others are believed to originate from the Land of Always Winter, where, according to legend, you can also find spooky ice spiders.

However, I should mention, a detail that might be easily missed in the books is that they are currently at Hardhome and continue to press south towards the Wall.

Yet there are other tales—harder to credit and yet more central to the old histories—about creatures known as the Others. According to these tales, they came from the frozen Land of Always Winter, bringing the cold and darkness with them as they sought to extinguish all light and warmth. The tales go on to say they rode monstrous ice spiders and the horses of the dead, resurrected to serve them, just as they resurrected dead men to fight on their behalf. - The World of Ice and Fire—Ancient History: The Long Night

In 2012, George confirmed that future books would explore further and further north. No shit, you don't say. I wonder if Bran's journey through history, where we learn more about the origins of the Others, has anything to do with that.

"And what lies really north in my books—we haven't explored that yet, but we will in the last two books." - George R. R. Martin

Bran uses the common metaphor "the heart of _____ (winter)" in the same passage that the curtain of light appears. Later, in another book, Daenerys enters the House of the Undying, where she encounters blue figures reminiscent of the Others. There, she finds a literal blue heart that appears to be their life force. Drogon eats it. Together, these things might suggest that there is a literal blue heart beyond a portal that needs to be set on fire to defeat the Others.

Also, another time, Theon stands in the middle of Winterfell and uses the same "the heart of" metaphor (common phrase found throughout the series). Shortly after, he references the Land of Always Winter, so I thought I would throw it in to be generous.

If the author leads you to believe that something will happen, it must be true.

Lastly, I should mention that there are vague references suggesting that George has written other stories with events and themes similar to this proposed ending. However, I can't verify these claims, and unsurprisingly, the works in question are never cited.

Say what you will about the "Daario is Euron" theorists, but at least they attempt to back up their crazy idea with actual text from the books.

COUNTER-EVIDENCE:

To put it bluntly, this theory has no basis—no textual support, no historical parallels, no evidence in the companion books, no prophetic visions, no dreams, no myths, no legends, no similarities to the television show, and no foreshadowing to speak of. It is entirely made up, with only a few words from the text as its foundation.

A Song of Ice and Fire is about the people of Westeros putting aside their petty differences and uniting against two existential threats: ice, represented by the Others, and fire, represented by Daenerys Targaryen and her dragons. It's not a story about fire defeating ice.

Well, of course, the two outlying ones — the things going on north of the Wall, and then there is Targaryen on the other continent with her dragons — are of course the ice and fire of the title, "A Song of Ice and Fire." The central stuff — the stuff that's happening in the middle, in King's Landing, the capital of the seven kingdoms — is much more based on historical events, historical fiction. It's loosely drawn from the Wars of the Roses and some of the other conflicts around the 100 Years' War, although, of course, with a fantasy twist. You know, one of the dynamics I started with, there was the sense of people being so consumed by their petty struggles for power within the seven kingdoms, within King's Landing — who's going to be king? Who's going to be on the Small Council? Who's going to determine the policies? — that they're blind to the much greater and more dangerous threats that are happening far away on the periphery of their kingdoms. - George R. R. Martin

Ice and fire of course are also opposites, they're a duality and there's a lot in my books that are about duality. Certainly the religion of Melisandre, one of the most important characters, I think is basically a dualist religion with the premise that there are two gods. It's somewhat based on Zoroastrianism, and a little bit based on Catharism, Albigenses heresy who I know had some roots here in Spain once upon a time, before they were all killed. The idea of a world divided between good and evil, war between the two, which is so basic to so many fantasy starting with Tolkien, but much more so in the case of Tolkien imitators, was something that I wanted to recast and think about and maybe subvert a little. But I'm still using kind of the language of it, and some of the symbols associated with it. So all of these are grist for the mill, it's not something as simple as saying ice is this and fire is that. They're both many things. And one of the most important things is that both of them, ice and fire will kill you dead. So they're both dangerous in their own ways, hate, love, desire, coldness, they can both be deadly. - George R. R. Martin

I have tried to make it explicit in the novels that the dragons are destructive forces, and Dany (Daenerys Targaryen) has found that out as she tried to rule the city of Meereen and be queen there.

She has the power to destroy, she can wipe out entire cities, and we certainly see that in 'Fire and Blood,' we see the dragons wiping out entire armies, wiping out towns and cities, destroying them, but that doesn't necessarily enable you to rule — it just enables you to destroy. - George R. In the established lore of A Song of Ice and Fire, dragons can't cross the Wall and dislike cold and wet weather. How exactly will they get to this Lovecraftian Land of Always Winter, and how will they be of any use in that climate?

Tyrion Lannister is not a Targaryen; he is not one of the three heads of the dragon. He is the malevolent, vindictive son of Tywin Lannister. He rapes women, he kills women, he marries child hostages to acquire their castles, he will be complicit in the death of potentially hundreds of thousands of people, and he isn't getting anything remotely resembling a heroic ending.

Daenerys and her dragons represent one of the two principal threats in the narrative. Azor Ahai is a misinterpreted prophecy that is intended as a warning, not as the foretelling of a hero.

Since the first book, her sole objective has been to rule foreign lands seized through force. She exploits slaves, consistently engages in brutal acts of violence, and leaves devastation wherever she sets foot. She will intentionally burn King's Landing to the ground, and then she'll be stabbed to death.

No. You are the blood of the dragon. The whispering was growing fainter, as if Ser Jorah were falling farther behind. Dragons plant no trees. Remember that. Remember who you are, what you were made to be. Remember your words. "Fire and Blood," Daenerys told the swaying grass. - Daenerys X, ADWD

The idea that Daenerys, Jon, and Tyrion will love themselves or each other, either physically or emotionally, and then collectively sacrifice themselves, is the dumbest climax anyone has ever conceived. You forfeit the right to ever complain about the show if this is what you thought should happen.

Finally, please remember that, by default, the original creators of this theory are always wrong about everything.

Someone just said that Anthony Lockwood is not a people pleaser and I’d like to dive into why I personally think he is. 

Fair warning: this is just my opinion on my psych evaluations of his character as someone who is a chronic people pleaser and has gone to therapy for it. I’m also an actor so it’s literally my job to figure out why characters tick for the portrayal of them on stage or screen. this is a fictional character so don’t attack me lol.

Okay so he may seem to most people like a narcissistic character type (from people telling me that that’s what they think) but from what I see is more that he craves to be seen and heard and wants others to feel the same, and does anything even if it hurts others (like the tv public appearance) to satisfy it the craving of being loved and accepted and believed that he’s right whether he agrees with it himself or not. I do think there’s a lot more from the childhood trauma that affects him also to be a hero, and to have a saviour complex almost because he’d rather die a hero and let others live than the pain of himself losing more people. so yes that’s the main part of what his character’s made up of but he still is a people pleaser.

He has the urge to make sure people (like Lucy) feel heard and seen (because that’s all he’s ever wanted), and when for example she says she talked to the skull you can tell he has this internal battle because he wants her to feel pleased with his answer, and even though it’s an unbelievable phenomenon he chooses to hear her and make her feel seen the way he’s always wanted for himself. People pleasers stem when your needs are not met, (if it be from emotionally unavailable parents or like Lockwood, his parents physically weren’t there for him to have his needs met by them and I think he wants to make them proud due to their deaths and always craving more attention and love because he never got enough due to his situation) and you’re left to your own devices to figure out how to not rock the boat yourself when its metaphorically already in a storm. its almost like he cant say no to Lucy or disagree because she meets some of his needs when he’s agreeable. which I can relate to finding people who meet your needs because they're paying attention to you (like George says you “because you like the way she looks at you”) and that’s why he gives her 100% of his devotion, and acceptance and love, hoping she’ll at lest give 1%. (I’m not saying though that Lucy give 1% that’s just how people pleasers work)

I think though with Lockwood and George, George just doesn't have the capacity to give Lockwood what he so desperately wants, at least to the degree he wants, so he turns to Lucy when she’s in the picture. he even at the funeral was like ‘oh my god its Penelope Fittes!!!’ internally looking for validation of what he did. 

Lastly people pleasers can be selfish. I’ve seen it in myself a lot, and people I know and have been told as to why talking to my therapist. Like my ex best friend is a people pleaser, and she got a boyfriend and because he started giving her the validation and “love” she so desperately wanted, she forgot about me and the rest of her friends. she traded us because she found someone who can give her what's she’s craving more at the moment, and clinging onto it for dear life instead of dealing with why she wants that so badly. like I said with the tv interview with the Annabel case and with him calling Lucy an asset, because he wants to be one so bad and have the spotlight for that validation so badly. I will funnily say this is why a lot of people want to be actors, or in the entertainment industry, because there’s a higher chance someone will watch them and praise them for their work.

No, he would not back himself away from turning down someone’s request because he’s too timid to say “no”. No, he would not let people’s demands walk all over him. No, he would not act like he has not been taught the basic principles of setting boundaries between himself and others.

Like be for real, man’s lore STATES that he straight up came to CHALLENGE GOD, started an undoubtedly huge rebellion AGAINST HIS OWN RULER, has formed a lot of people to rebel by his side and not to mention it should take MONTHS, and if not, YEARS to form a plan so revolutionary and a rebellion so tightly-knit and strong to take down a god.

Because for some reason these people (whom I’d rather not specify,) clearly write him like they have not read his lore. If you’d seriously tried to understand him and put yourself in his shoes, we should be taking consideration to what he must’ve gone through to form a revolution this big, and how the hell he kept it secret from his ruler so discreetly.

Imagine the amount of doubt he went through when trying to convince people to aid in his cause.

Imagine the amount of remarks and praises he receive from different kinds of people with different opinions on the matter.

Imagine how many times he’s heard that he should not do it,

Imagine how many times he heard that he will be punished by Decarabian,

Imagine how many times he was told by different people that his plan will not work or it would eventually fail,

Imagine how many offended, scornful, and disgusted looks he received from loyalists.

Imagine the amount of challenge this put him through.

Imagine how many looks he received from people from all different kinds of emotions. Fear, suspicion, apprehension, disgust, anger, and uncertainty.

So basing from the story, do you think this stopped him from reaching his goal? No.

He dedicated himself to reforming the once barren world of Old Mondstadt just to see his beloved sky, and the birds would finally soar. He completed something so big with immense mental fortitude that we did not witness in-person because he is a character who died BEFORE the events of the game, and has many IMPLIED, but OFF-SCREEN details hat weren’t even explicitly mentioned about him.

Old Mondstadt’s story cutscene is a story that forces you to use your perception and details to look deep enough into the history in order to fully understand it. Just using your visual perception isn’t enough. It isn’t “oh there’s a ruined city and some guy died 🤷‍♀️” ITS NOT.

Back on topic, a single accomplishment so big and took so much time like freeing a nation and its residents from its sick, delusional ruler whilst fighting for his own dreams of seeing the sky beyond is nothing compared from simply standing up for himself when people would back him down. In case you’re blind, he isn’t who he is without a reason.

You've tried many ways to fall asleep, but only one helps you. I have to go to the pier every time before going to bed to breathe in the sea air, listen to the beating of the waves on the wooden beams of the pier. In a word, to enjoy. And it helped. After 15-20 minutes of being on the pier, you were easily thrown into a dream.

And so, you're back on the pier. Walking to the edge, sitting down and dangling your legs, you begin to relax. After a hard day's work, it helps the best. From the noise of the waves, you inadvertently withdraw into yourself, which is actually a regular action. You often get lost in different thoughts and try to find some answers for yourself. And here again, you need to thank Pierce, because usually you don't have enough time to think.

It doesn't occur to you at such moments that you might be being watched. And not just from where, but actually from the water.

Your thoughts today were the legends of this city, or rather the main one - the mermaids. Yes, the residents of the city really claimed that there is a hybrid of a human and a marine inhabitant in the sea.

But they were fairy tales for you. In your unprofessional opinion, mermaids were a kind of way to scare children away from the water. That's right. No one wants their child to drown or get hurt in any way..

Your feet were hanging off the edge of the pier, almost touching the water, while you were deep in thought.

Suddenly, you feel something wrapping around your ankle. It was something cold, wet, and damn strong. You were sure of that. Quickly raising your head, you saw something unthinkable in front of you.

A rather large hand, compared to yours, holds your ankle in an almost death grip. If you look closely, you can see the webbing between your fingers. Your eyes widen when your head appears out of the water, and then a small part of your guest's very large body.

Or rather, you were the guest. After all, this creature was a mermaid, and the sea was his home.

You managed to look at it a little, fortunately there was a lantern nearby that illuminated at least some part of the pier.

A giant mermaid appeared before your eyes. From his fin on his back, his coloring, as well as the sharp teeth that you saw from his slightly open mouth, it became clear that he was a shark. His body was coming out of the water and it seemed to be huge, maybe 5-6 meters. And oh my God, what stood out most about him were the red eyes watching you through wet, ashen hair.

The shark man was looking at you, holding your ankle and smiling.

"Hi," he said, still looking at you. Something in his gaze hinted to you that he was evaluating you and maybe planning to eat you.

"Good evening, sir," you mumbled, trying to stay calm. You were a little scared that you might become the dinner of a giant fish.

The merman tilted his head at your feet, making you tense up. He was still holding your ankle.

- "Shh, don't be nervous, little one."- He whispered and jumped back.

Did he call you a little one? It was logical according to his concepts. The shark Man was bigger than you and he had every right to call you tiny compared to him.

- "Tell me, what is such a tiny human girl doing here at night, huh?"- his gaze slides over your body while he waits for an answer.

- "Oh, I have insomnia, and the noise of the sea and the sea air help to cope with it. That's why I come here before going to bed."

You're being honest with him, hoping he'll think it's a good answer.

- "Mmm, does such a sweet treat come to me by itself? How wonderful.." He's smiling, showing you his sharp teeth.

You're getting nervous. He's probably being honest with you about his desires, too. The mermaid rests on the part of the tail where, according to your assumption, people should have knees, and pulls himself up onto the pier. He quickly pulls you to him, laying you on your back. Your pupils constrict when he hunches over to lean towards you. Despite the cold of his body, his breath is hotter. You begin to breathe shallowly and raggedly while salt water drips from his body onto you.

Does he seem to notice this and start purring? Maybe the merman is trying to calm you down, just a little bit, but the realization that he wants to eat you makes it creepy.

- "Don't be afraid. I'm not going to eat you, little one. Definitely not in that sense..." He says the latter almost silently.

It makes you calm down a bit, but it's still not enough.

- "Then what do you want?"

His pupils are narrowing like a predator's, which is exactly what he is. He smiles at you again, leaning closer.

- "Just to get to know each other." He continues to make a low purr. He looks extremely curious and interested in you.

- "What's your name, little one?"- he gently releases your ankle and puts his big hand on your head, knowing that you are ready to move. He strokes the top of your head, enjoying the softness of your hair. With his other hand, he leans on the planks of the pier so as not to crush you.

- "Y/n, sir..."- you answer him with a little hesitation. All this makes you feel embarrassed.

- "Y/n..."- the mermaid repeats your name several times, memorizing it.

He's looking at you, obviously happy that you're interested in him.

But one thing is bothering you. Is he interested in you? Oh, it seems more than just interested. You're sure he wanted to take you right on the pier. You once studied shark behavior out of curiosity. The Trainee Ep 5 Initial Reaction

Oh thank god, Episode 5 is exactly what I wanted! Episode 4 was a bit dry and boring, but thankfully Episode 5 totally makes up for it. but factoring kristen into gorgug’s whole mashed potatoes and gravy deal??? kristen, the person he shares an unbreakable and completely unique bond with? kristen, his best friend, who was ALSO hypersexual for most of her last relationship? kristen who went through a breakup at the same time as gorgug, who has the same uncertainty about how her family Wanted her to be versus who she became? (and gorgug, whose parents love him but told him to try to keep the rage under control for so long, who also put him into a box he was never meant for, who on day one died and came back wrong next to a girl who was chosen, died, and also came back wrong, endured relentlessly, walked into a forest even though he thought she was dead and told all of his friends it’s gorgug, keep going?)

what was the point of this. queer platonic but sexual but not platonic but still sexual relationship. gorgug and kristen love each other more than anything and they’ll do anything for each other and they’ll do anything to make the other person happy with no strings attached and they died together okay

Okay I did @vyo96’s HWS Japan map thingy and this is a perfect time to roughly explain my characterization of my baby girl

Now look imma admit he fucks, he can fuck and will fuck but thats a story for another day, preferably December 20th 2024 but we’ll get there when we get there. In short just give him his viagra hes still got it in him

Anyway i like to say he’s a little fucked up in the head and just so done with everything around him that he can only put on a plain face and keep trudging through till he kicks the bucket. The curse of immortality has left him a little fucked up, wondering when it’ll all be over, sometimes wishing he was just plain mortal and not stuck waiting for his country to fall apart. He loves his people but sometimes wishes he didn’t have to be a personified country and just a normal human along side them cause he feels lile he can do more for them as human since him and all the other countries are under the thumb of their governments half the time

I want to say that he wants people to think he’s more in up in the “just a little fella” section cause like he doesn’t want people to know he’s popping his pills, that’s embarrassing!! He just buries his feelings deep down so no one can see them until his friends pull up and hold him down and operate the feelings out of him.

His personality isnt that much different from his canon version but i like to think he is definitely more expressive and idk but emotional??? When he’s by himself like, in the comfort of his own home he’ll let out a big loud laugh over a meme but in public he’ll just smile and say “that was funny”. He thinks way too much about how he looks he looks in public its a problem. He actually has some wit and really sarcastic when he wants to be. He can also be really scary but he doesn’t like showing that side too much so he just kinda keeps it in the back burner.

He’s definitely very self sufficient i mean he’s had like 2000ish years to live and grow bro practically picked up everything as a hobby at least once. He’s made a schedule which he has been keeping pretty much the same throughout the years, only really changes if big like advancements are made like he used to go to the store once a month to rent VHS and had planned days to go return them all but now he just either streams it or has bought all the VHS and DVD he wanted and plays them at home.

He can be very affectionate if he wants to but feels cringe when he does it in public so mostly keeps it all in. But if he had his way he would smother his s/o in gifts and kisses and loving pets and be at their knees wondering if they need anything. Thats mostly at home though in public he just holds pinkies. With his close friends (mostly just Italy, Germany and Prussia) he opens up more a little baby bit, he actually shows some emotion and lets out more of his personality!! Oh my god!!!! He actually…shares his actual opinion/concern?!? He feels more comfortable with letting them see his real feelings and they like seeing it too cause they were getting concerned that he just nodded along to almost everything when it was smth they definitely should not have been doing.

Anyway best character deserves more respect he is the light of my life and i hold him very dear to me. I wish i could like talk about him more but trying to write this was hard as hell cause i cant always express my feelings with words im better at talking than writing. I tried to get some of my like speaking and form of talking into this but some areas could use work.

If any other hetalia japan lovers wanna speak their truth speak it and we can come together and have a meeting and talk about him

THE LAST EPISODE? opinions about the episode?

OH MY GOD!!!

I AM HEARTBROKEN!!! I was crying during the entire end scene!!!! Legitimately sobbing sitting on the edge of my, mouth hanging open in shock!

But it's like a good heartbroken? Okay so first of all I fucking love angst. I think that's pretty obvious here lol. So watching all the angst between the two of them in last few minutes was a delicious kind of heartbreaking! And I fully plan on making gifs especially of Aziraphale's angsty face. Cause god its beautiful.

And David Tennant and Michael Sheen are just so so amazing at their jobs and their acting during that scene was PHENOMENAL. They had me on the edge of my seat, crying like a heartbroken teenager. It takes a lot to get me to react like that to a show especially lately but David and Michael destroyed me.

And I personally think this is AMAZING writing/plotting. Of course this will on depend on Amazon giving us season 3 so everyone better watch the crap out of this season okay! Because season 2 focused a lot on Crowley and his realizations of feelings so I'm expecting season 3 will see Aziraphale let go of this picture of Heaven = Good and Hell = Bad thing and realize he loves Crowley and wants to be with him forever and the teo of them will talk and apologize and work things out and end up in the cottage in South Downs. That's the ending I'm sure we'll get. But we need to get there and there was bound to be angst on the way. This kind of angst feels so in character to me and feels right. Not all things are happy all the time and sometimes angst is good for plot development. This is GOOD ANGST! This will further the plot, create a viable route for character development that will inevitably give us our happy ending!

I know a lot of people are upset by it in like an angry why kind of way but I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT A LOT!

And a few random thoughts:

I never pictured Crowley being the first to make a move and I was so proud of him for putting himself out there and asking Aziraphale to stay with him and they can just be an us and then going further and showing his feelings by kissing him! It was beautiful and deep and scary and wonderful and I DIED! And his face and body language after Aziraphale did the thing was SO HEARTBREAKING! DAVID AND MICHAEL ARE SO GOOD AT THEIR JOBS!

And Aziraphale! Oh my god this angel is killing me! All he wants is to be with Crowley! He didn't give a shit about the Metatrons offer until he said Aziraphale could make Crowley an angel again and they could be together. Look at his smile in that scene! That made him so happy! He could be with Crowley and they could go home and be good angels again! In his head thats the perfect ending! They would be home together, doing good work and Crowley could make things again and ask his questions without fear of retaliation. Aziraphale remembers how happy Crowley was at the beginning, making his stars and galaxies, and believes Crowley wants that again. He also always believed in Crowley's goodness AND Aziraphale is still stuck in the belief of Heaven and angels being inherently good and the good guys while Hell and Demons are inherently evil and the bad guys. So he still believes that they should both be up in Heaven.

But Crowley knows the truth! Crowley sees that both sides are toxic and that for the two of them to be happy they need to be just the two of them like they have been these past few years. And they were happy! So he tries to get that through Aziraphale but Aziraphale isn't ready to hear that.

THEN THE KISS HAPPENS AND AZIRAPHALE ISN'T READY FOR IT AND HE ENDS UP BREAKING CROWLEYS HEART EVEN THOUGH AZIRAPHALE DOES LOVE HIM AND YOU CAN SEE HIS HEARTBROKEN CONFUSED AND IN LOVE FACE AFTER CROWLEY LEAVES AND AZIRAPHALE TOUCHES HIS OWN LIPS!!!

I AM FUCKING DYING NONNY!!! I'M DYING!!! IM LOSOMG MY MIND AND I KNOW THERE ARE OTHERS THINGS I WANTED TO TALK ABOUT. IT I CANNOT THINK STRAIGHT!!!
