Look, I get why people are upset, but uh, as someone whose BEEN the First Queer Partner™ before, Tommy's break up with Buck here does actually make sense.

I've kinda been of the opinion that Tommy shouldn't be End Game for Buck, even tho personally I really enjoyed their relationship (same way I felt about Abby coincidentally lmao) because like. I'm so tired of the whole character A stays forever and madly in love with the first queer person they end up with. And I feel like, especially when done with a bi character, can kind of end up weird, like they're just saying they're basically gay or worse, only gay for character B.

And because I think they both deserve better in the longterm (and that if they were really invested in keeping Tommy around long term his racism should've been addressed, I get it had been a long time but it had literally personally affected 2 of the most important people in Buck's life).

But like, there's an awkward imbalance when you're in a relationship like that, where one of you is settling into your queerness and the other's queerness is already well rooted. And for the Buck, it's exciting! It's thrilling! You're learning all of these new things about yourself and doing it without someone you didn't even know you could have!

And for the Tommy, it's fun and it's hot, and there's something endearing and nostalgic about getting to help someone you care about along that journey, and it's really stressful. Because you're the first. And you know how important that First relationship was for you and how much damage and/or beauty it brought into your life, and how much it changed you. It feels like a lot of responsibility. And ultimately, you know it's going to end, because most of the time, you just don't get it right the first try.

So yeah, I think Tommy probably made the right call for himself. He saw Buck rushing in too fast, because he's excited and impulsive, and not because he's actually In Love with him, and said "Oh wait, I know where this is going".

And on Buck's end, he was literally about to make the same mistake he did with Abby. I mean. That feels like a pretty explicit parallel from the writing team.

We were watching the glass blowing competition show on netflix because it's really cool to see those talented artists do their thing...

But I will NEVER forgive the judges for eliminating an amazing artist who's concept was that plastic hamster tubes are actually dangerous for hamsters yet they are normalized in our society so they made a beautiful glass rendition of an endless loop of colorful hamster tubes as an expression of how we can be trapped by society in a loop of behavior that is normalized but actually killing us

And the judges were like "this isnt DEEP ENOUGH" because they dont care enough about hamsters to learn and interpret the artist's statement at the level it was meant for.

They literally saw the glass renditions of colorful tubes that represent suffering and being trapped in a glossy predesigned hell and went "this is too normal and isnt saying anything important actually" Fuck them!!!!

Anyways Gemma should have won and I'm so happy to see that she didn't let it stop her amazing concept and she continued with it outside of the time constraints of the show. Fuck yes Gemma

Watching Star Wars in chronological order is so funny.

Honestly, I love it when characters relapse. When someone who’s gotten over their anger issues falls into a situation so out of their depth they fall back on their old habits. When someone who’s learned to open up becomes a recluse again in order to cope with something outside their control.

There’s just something so horrible, so toxic, about watching a character grow and then slip back into their old selves in order to cope, bc you know they still care, that they’re the same inside, but watching them hurt so hard they don’t know what else to do brings a sense of catharsis.

My favourite underrated thing about Louis de Point du Lac is that he truly is the least curious vampire to ever be made and he does not give fuck about vampires despite being one.

Its Claudia who goes to libraries, reads the folklore, tries to learn as much as she can and pushes Lestat for answers about who made him and where the others are. Claudia says Vampire Pride and Louis says hmmm Vampire Tolerance.

And Louis...truly does not care about vampire history,law, culture. He's never even thought to ask. There are vampire laws?...ok...Lestat never cared about them and he's not going to either, lol. He's broken a few and he will continue to do so. Oh you have a coven? he's not gonna join it, he's gonna do his own thing. but good for you good for you.
