I'm having a Moment, huh?
#curled up under my weighted blanket. homesick#rediscovering a realisation that never really left#I don't think those two know just how deeply I trust them#like... berry is definitely as deeply loyal. if not more so.#while I think bee has never really understood how much they mean to me#but. I just. they mean so much to me. I'm not an unconditional love type of person but they challenge that#god. I'm going to get my fucking degree and go back home and never leave them again.#I don't tend to talk about them much on here but they've been with me through literally everthing#unfortunately it was kind of a given I'd go to uni. I'm not cut out for trades or for customer service or whatever#so I had to leave. I went further away than I had to though#at the time I guess I thought I'd make connections that were just as strong down here#and that's almost true for my flatmates#but I think everything has really solidified that all I want out of life is to be near my family and berry and bee#berry's probably not going to be able to work anytime soon. and bee will take a long time to get their degree#but if I could. I would live with them. split the rent three ways.#(or more if berry and bee's partners lived with us as well)#just. fuck. I miss them.#my flatmates are amazing but they can't replace my best friends of over 8 years#I keep thinking of the song Sudafed. it's one of Kuma's songs but I like it too#because it makes me think of berry and bee#'I loved a boy enough I tried to waste away for him / and I'd kill him if ever you said'#just. yeah. I would. it's not even a question

Pokemon Scarlet DLC: Teal Mask review
(This will contain spoilers for the Teal Mask DLC for Pokemon Scarlet. So if you don't want to be spoiled, do not read this! Also, warning: This will be long.)
I've been playing for a few days now, and I couldn't wait any longer to share my thoughts. (I've never been a patient person.)
Overall, I loved it! I think the scenery was cool, the town was cool, and I really loved the Pokémon you could find there, and I enjoyed the characters and the storyline of the game. Not everything was perfect, and I will point out what I thought were weak points, but overall, it's still fun to play.
So many great Pokémon from previous were there, and I really like the designs of the new ones in the game. I really like Poltchageist and I think its evolution looks cool too and I cannot wait to catch, evolve, and learn more about it. Though, I will admit I'm not too impressed with Dipplin, I feel like it could've been better as a regional form or a regional fake. I heard there's supposed to be another evolution for it that comes out in the second half of the DLC, I hope its true. And, as mentioned before, I really like the Pokémon that returned for the DLC, makes me really wanna catch all.
Ogerpon was so cute! And those masks are awesome! I want an Ogerpon plushie now! The 'Loyal' Three designs were cool (still don't like them), and I was actually surprised they were part Poison, I thought they would be Dark Types.
However, I will admit, I don't really care much for that little berry collecting minigame, didn't really enjoy it. So, I don't imagine playing more of it anytime soon.
I really enjoyed exploring Kitakami, the scenes were beautiful, and I always find something interesting when I explored. Seriously, wherever I go, there is something to find on the ground, it got to the point where I had to stop myself from collecting everything I noticed on the ground.
I also like the new bags and hairstyles that style card grants me. Not really my real life hairstyle, but I might give one of them a try. I really enjoyed the new hairstyle and bag were given when we change into that green festival outfit.
The characters were definitely interesting to me. I enjoyed spending time with Kieran and found myself able to relate to the shy little guy, and throughout the journey, I genuinely felt bad keeping secrets from him and beating him in battles. And I really felt bad when Ogerpon wanted to go with me instead of him. And the way it ended, gave me major future antagonist vibes, hopefully he'll just still be a friend that motivated to get stronger. I don't want him as an enemy.
Carmine was honestly frustrating to deal with, at first. I found her a bit frustrating to deal with and enjoyed beating her in battle if it meant knocking her insufferable ego down. But by the end, I found myself liking her a bit more. She's not my favorite character, but I felt I understood her better and I don't dislike her so much now.
As for Briar, I am honestly suspicious of her. She seems nice and its cool that she is the descendant of Heath, the guy who wrote the Scarlet/Violet book, but something about her screams secret villain/antagonist to me and while she claims to want to prove Heath's theories true, I feel like she has less than benevolent ulterior motives. Guess we'll just have to see in Part 2.
Overall, the story was great, but it kind of reminded me of the Team Star story, where the innocent party is treated as a villain while the true villains are treated as heroes. When I learned the truth, I was deeply frustrated how the people were treating those three villains like heroes and shared Carmine's frustration. I was glad the truth came out, but I feel like it was resolved too quickly and easily, where Kieran just tells people and they automatically believe him, I feel like they should've seen how evil the 'Loyal' Three truly were and see for themselves how Ogerpon is not bad. But I was happy that the truth is out. I knew Ogerpon would go with me, but I still felt a bit bad, since Kieran wanted nothing more than to befriend the Pokémon and I felt like I robbed him of that. I might bring Ogerpon to Blueberry Academy when the second part comes out.
Overall, I'd give this a 9/10 score.

(Prev anon asking for lore) BITING YOUR LOREDUMP SM!!!!/pos It's so interesting!! I absolutely love how you wrote it, it like, in an way started picturing an painting in my mind of how part of the stories went down. Like with Groda and the way she wanted to be a leader with all the revolts then sending herself and her loyal followers into the underground and what was describe with the people above. And how she seemingly got even worse(?) down there while now sesrching for that enternal life. And the way Herobrine finds it!!(and how hes trying to keep himself alive D:!!) Your writing for it is intriguing to me and I can say you definitely got me into it.
THANK YOU!!!!!! Legit it is SO nice to finally be able to talk about universe building stuff with someone that isnt my partner (NOT THAT I MIND TALKING TO HER AT ALL but its just nice to get it OUT THERE) and its always so hard for me to just lay out stuff unless someone asks about specific stuff which usually people dont!! and i cant just talk about the ENTIRE thing all at once because i wouldnt even know where to start or where to end!!! or what to detail!!! my brain is exploding at all times because of all the fucking writing in it. i want to talk about EVERYTHING!!! and i want people to ENJOY CONSUMPTION OF MEDIA!!!! I am incapable of being normal but people engaging with my content and asking questions brings me indescribable amount of joy ANYWAY enough about me, im glad u liked it!!! I am by no means a professional writer but getting ideas out there is so satisfying, even if it isnt really in a professional formatting. And my MC au is something im REALLY passionate about bc it brings me a lot of comfort so i just have so many ideas and things in my head and im glad they come out cohesive and actually kind of cool sounding!! And u are right Groda got VERY worse she is so up in her head about being better than everyone else and ensuring her own success that she kind of lost sight of what she was actually fighting for and now even that is gone. Like congrats bitch!! Ur a ruler of an empire that collapsed under your own fucking reign!! What now!!! Don't worry when she comes around to finding that humans exist once more in the modern time she's gonna make it everyone's problem AGAIN. Or at least the main four players. SPEAKING OF THE PLAYERS Herobrine is genuinely so fun to just do anything with. Dude literally spawned in and weeks later dedicated a majority of the next years of his life to chasing some mystery. He, at the time, is far more obsessed with the past than caring about the present where he's just this scrawny twig of a man who's barely managing to keep himself on two feet. The spider bites on his leg are IMMENSE and he even has scaring on his arm from his encounter with the Warden. As well as that facial scarring from improper use of magic
Tumblr media
he is a CAVE RAT and i love him deeply. most ppl make Herobrine some paranormal entity thing which can be really cool!!! but i really did say hey what if i just made him some weird fucking guy. Would u believe he first met the other main players properly through Rana finding him having tripped over face first in a berry bush after trying not to be seen by them. I would. And as I put it on Discord:

I’m so sorry this took so long!!!
Someone You Loved
Rating: Mature for some themes
Pairing: fuckin’ Lukanette boi
Word count: 4,665
Prompt: (40) “I wasn’t lying when I said that I loved you.”
Description:
Well, Luka sings a song and I pissed @macaknight off with this when I asked her to beta read the start of it. It helps if you listen to the song in the story, Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi. Enjoy lmao
She was around by his side long enough to engrave the little things into his mind.
He knew how it felt to have the soft strands of midnight blues through his fingers as he tangled them in her hair. To have her legs settle on either side of his as he trailed his hand up her small back and waist under her soft cotton shirts. The cheeky grin he grew to love baring up at him when his arms bracketed with her in between he picked her up at home.
How he didn't care for sweets but loved the way blueberry muffins tasted on her tongue and the taste of her mixed with raspberry jelly when it leaked from the corner of her pouty lips.
How the Liberty swayed under his feet against the small currents the wind brought on as they danced in the rain. The feel of his converse bracing both their weights as her drenched skirt blew in harsh waves between them. The first lightning strike reflecting off an anchor necklace he gave her on their first date.
When she kissed his cheek when he started humming absently with frustration as he tried to figure out the melody he wrote. Her small fingers pulling the pencil out of his death grip as she lent her forehead against his to calm him and decipher the jumbled notes he had in his head.
The way her face lit up when he played it back to her.
The way her face fell when she told him she loved him but they couldn't be together.
How her arms stiffly pulled away from his hug and the red of her eyes she showed up with.
How the airy taste of salt from the water didn't compare to the salt of his tears that trailed to his lips as he grounded the palm of his hands to his eyes roughy as sobs racked through his body when he collapsed to the wood of the ship.
The way it left him numb with hurt and he became too compliant with his happenings, too accepting.
Defeated.
Music was harder to hear and enjoy, he couldn't compose anything more than a haunting melody that brought any stranger to tears.
He wasn't sure he even felt the burn to his tongue when he drank his hot coffee as soon as it was handed to him. Or the rough jerk of his shoulder to turn him around as his guitar bounced off his back.
"Hey man, you look worse for wear." Théo, a former classmate of his that now ran the coffee shop, spoke as he eyed him critically. Luka shifted his thick blacks squared rimmed sunglasses up higher to cover his dark circles better. "I'd say it's great to see you, but..."
“Yeah, I’m just tired.” He offered the excuse at the ready, hating how well lying came with sadness.
“Ah, life of a famous rockstar.” Théo teased with a smirk. “No wondering you’re wearing a hat like that backwards to cover your hair and shades for those ‘oh so sexy’ blue eyes of yours.”
“Not famous,” Luka cringed at Théo’s words. “Just well known on the internet I guess.”
“Sorry for overplaying your popular cover videos man.” His old school mate laughed.
"It's fine. What's up?" He forced a smile that came across as genuine despite what he felt.
Théo crossed his arms and made a jerk with his head in the direction of the shop across the street, "New place has been stealing some of our loyal customers." Luka scratched under the brim of his black baseball cap he had on backwards as he followed the movement. "Lunch hour is about to hit and you know much we moved to stop by this part of town for break."
"Yeah, your aunt made good scones." He supplied.
He grunted in response, "Yeah. Well, girls frequent here more from school, and they keep going there," he roughly jerked his chin to the place again, "Just because there's an older guy who takes their order who is attractive, I guess. Or so I'm told."
Luka blinked at the shop before turning to his old friend, "What do you need from me then?"
"Observant as always, Couffaine." He snorted with a shake of his head. "I wanted to see if you -an attractive older guy- would give a small performance just as the girls come."
"What? Why?"
"Are you dense? With your face and body, and that 'sinful voice' of yours the girls cooed about back then and from your YouTube covers, I'm guaranteed to bring in more customers for today."
Luka tossed his half full coffee cup to the trash next to him. His own arms crossing as he wished he was in his cabin instead, laying on his bed while he stared up at the ceiling and trying to not feel the clench of his arm when he smelled Marinette's hibiscus shampoo and berry scented perfume on his pillows.
"I don't know."
His friend clasped onto his shoulder again, "Please man, you can keep 40% of the money you help bring in, I don't care. That shop is a dick and acting like we're not its competition."
“Man, you really don’t have to, I’ll just take a free coffee if you really need this.” Anything seemed better than just wallowing at home at this point, despite the incredible want to do so that swelled within him as he stood on the block he and Ladybug often frequented to patrol. “I mean it.”
Théo smiled, guiding him to a spot that he started clearing out near the cafe’s short fence that caged the outdoor tables and chairs.
“That’s okay, I feel bad to make you work without pay.” He straightened his back that had been bent forwards as he pushed tables, “Consider it repayment for that time you paid for my lunch.”
Luka stopped, “Lunch? When did I-,” he grunted. “Théo, that was four years ago.”
“Well, last Saturday had me thinking about all my debts and regrets when I thought I was gonna die. You came up.”
He flinched at mention of Saturday.
Saturday, the final fight against Hawkmoth who showed up in person with a struggling Mayura and an akumatized sentimonster of Lila. The combination of their powers as well as the wickedness that resided in the girl proving to be a difficult fight for them all when Ladybug and Chat pulled the entire team in.
Including a Chloé Bourgeois who was more than ready to help.
He could’ve sworn he heard Marinette screaming his name in worry when Hawkmoth closed in on him and hit into his side with his cane full force. But that was ridiculous. Because Marinette was Ladybug and Ladybug was Marinette. And Marinette wanted nothing to do with Luka since they had broken up without reason beyond her excuse of not being able to be with him.
He was a bit bitter about the whole ordeal.
Okay, he was more so lovesick and depressed, but his negative energy still stood.
“Yeah,” he flinched again when he heard his voice crack and he thumbed his bracelet -once silver, now a metallic black to hide better, “At least they finally caught Hawkmoth for good.”
“No kidding, now we can just focus on the heroes and the gossip your little girlfriend’s bestie posts.”
A knife. Through his heart. Twisting and gutting.
“Gossip?” He chose the safer option of the sentence, ignoring the onslaught of pitying questions and half-assed supportive promises that correcting Théo would bring.
“Yeah, like how that Ryuuko dragon girl and Chat are definitely dating and that Viperion and Ladybug totally have the hots for one another and the soft looks they give during patrols.”
A chainsaw. Just shredding his heart to pieces.
Luka Couffaine once thought he was a smart kid who made the right decisions.
How wrong he had been.
“Right.” He bit out, gripping the strap of his guitar case and scratching his baseball cap.
Théo shot up and loudly clapped with a whoop, “There we go! Now, I should grab the mic stand from open mic nights and just plug that in and some speakers, then we’ll be good to go.” Maybe Luka should’ve just left. “I’ll get ‘er done in five minutes, tops.”
Luka only nodded, watching as he ran around and set things up, then proudly presented Luka with the lone table he left set up to sit on.
He eyed his skeptically behind his sunglasses before hopping up, testing his weight on the surface before he crossed one ankle across his thigh and took his guitar from Théo who unzipped it for him. Théo pushed the mic stand closer to Luka and adjusted when he peered up at him.
“What do you want me to sing?”
His old friend shrugged with an easy smile, “Anything that comes to mind and draws that big crowd of hungry girls over.” Luka bobbed his head in response and tuned his acoustic guitar as Théo began backing up to inside the store and cheered, “Show off that sinful voice of yours, man! Woo!”
He let out a short chuckle and emptied his mind completely as he shut down, letting his fingers strum a few notes to a song that he began to resonate deeply with.
“I'm going under and this time I fear there's no one to save me,” he closed his eyes and mentally chastised himself for being so open with his feelings as they poured out of him through a popular song. “This all or nothing really got a way of driving me crazy.”
He could see Théo looking at him carefully when he opened before squeezing his eyes shut in pain. He hated that look of pity, but he already started singing this song and he knew he would have to see it through given that the customers at the shop had already turned their attention to him.
“I need somebody to heal
Somebody to know
Somebody to have
Somebody to hold,”
Did he growl at the end of that last line? He wasn’t sure but the audience seemed moved by it and how he didn’t go weak on the verbs. Maybe he could please someone for once by just following with what worked for him.
“It's easy to say
But it's never the same
I guess I kinda liked the way you numbed all the pain.”
He thought he saw the familiar flash of black with red accents that everyone knew as Ladybug’s new suit for a second up on the rooftops. The rooftops that she danced with Viperion on and let her laugh rang over the quiet town under the stars. He wasn’t sure if he was just hopelessly imagining her or if she was there, but he felt the pain bite all at once and his voice became wobbly in a way that the crowd seemed touched by. You’re kidding me.
“Now the day bleeds
Into nightfall
And you're not here
To get me through it all
I let my guard down
And then you pulled the rug
I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved.”
Weak. He felt weak and it wasn’t the kind where he felt weak at the knees like when Marinette smiled up at him or her nose scrunched in thought.
He always thought he could be emotionally strong to handle whatever came his way. He was so sure of it.
“I'm going under and this time I fear there's no one to turn to,” Guess he was weak for Marinette in every way possible after all, “This all or nothing way of loving got me sleeping without you.
“Now, I need somebody to know
Somebody to heal
Somebody to have
Just to know how it feels
It's easy to say but it's never the same
I guess I kinda liked the way you helped me escape.”
There was no blame to place, he knew that. It didn’t make it better or let him throw his anger at her to get it out, but he couldn’t keep punishing himself either.
He felt his eyes sting, shutting them as one tear slipped through and feeling grateful for both his dark shades and the sun beating down on his face past the patio table umbrella, hiding the evidence of his heartbreak.
“Now the day bleeds
Into nightfall
And you're not here
To get me through it all
I let my guard down,”
Who was he kidding? The heartbreak was the clearest part about him as he let the rough notes chip away at his throat and the growls making his voice artistically raw that he would have to worry about later.
His heart stopped painfully when he remembered the way Marinette’s face flushed all smitten like with a wondering look when Luka growled while singing and shot her winks, knowing how flustered it made her to see her calm and collective boyfriend with a soft and careful voice sounding so tortured for certain songs.
“And then you pulled the rug
I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved.
How that came back to bite him in the ass.
He glanced up to blink away the tears and avoid the view of the large growing audience he couldn’t see from the sun.
He could’ve sworn he saw a flash of black and flecks of red again.
Fingers strummed harder and with more purpose and he let his soft voice fall back as the pain ripped through him and out in his voice.
“And I tend to close my eyes when it hurts sometimes
I fall into your arms
I'll be safe in your sound 'til I come back around.”
Fuck. He missed her. He missed her a fuck ton and wanted to hold her again and hear her whisper his nicknames of “Love”, “baby”, “handsome”, “Vipey”, whatever the hell she wanted to call him.
Even his damn name would be enough to sedate him for a year.
“For now the day bleeds
Into nightfall”
Dancing with her into the beginnings of a bad storm on the deck of the Liberty as they belted Cheap Thrills amist her giggles and his laughs he choked down to keep her beautiful voice going with his.
“And you're not here
To get me through it all”
Being curled up on her living room couch the next day with her cuddled into his side. Both sick with the cold, but unable to wipe the weak grins from their faces as Sabine amusingly disapproved of their actions the night before.
“I let my guard down
And then you pulled the rug”
Their first kiss when she got flustered at their first date and told him she wouldn’t read too much into it despite wanting to, and him effectively shutting her up for the first time ever with the crash of his lips to hers and hands tilting her head up to meet him in reassurance.
“I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved.”
The first time she called him her boyfriend and the pleased giggle she let out when he gave a startled and flustered noise, his snack flying out of the package he ripped open before he blinked and asked her to repeat what she said as a toothy grin broke his shocked face.
“But now the day bleeds
Into nightfall
And you're not here
To get me through it all”
Did a camera just flash at him? Hard to tell with the sun in his eyes and the dark lenses of his shades. He couldn’t find himself to care either.
“I let my guard down
And then you pulled the rug
I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved.”
He tried not to think about the fact that he forced himself to change his phone backgrounds to black, tried not to think if she deleted her phone screens of them napping together or the wallpaper of them dancing in the rain Juleka got of them as Luka dipped her over the edge of the stage they always practiced on.
The complete trust in her eyes and smile always made him melt in that picture. Her hands loosely holding her arms as her head titled back in a deep bellied laugh while he held onto her waist tightly with one arm and had the other behind him, the biggest smile that was only found on his face when Marinette was around.
“I let my guard down
And then you pulled the rug
I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved.”
Luka still fucking loved her more than anything.
His drive, his inspiration, his happiness and safe space. His melody that always rang loudly in his ears.
Now it sounded just as it did when they were younger.
The numbness took over as he looked up, face contorted into a forced happy expression as he dipped his head in gratitude to see the very big crowd that gathered and was clapping with tears in their eyes. He excused himself to find Théo who ignored how exposed the song made his old friend, conversing with him briefly as he counted the amount of customers before Luka left and promised to give him the 40% the next visit he came and a free coffee.
He put up his guitar, tugging the case back over his shoulder as he headed back to the Liberty and tossed the faux leather casing to the bed, tossing his sunglasses to the the bed as well before heading to the deck and off to take a lap to clear his break up riddled mind.
The third block was a close achievement, before he felt the petite body rush into him and the all too familiar wrap of small and strong legs wrap about his waist with a black latex suit arm winding around his neck. He subconsciously fell back into habit as one of his own dropped to hold under her thighs and one around her own waist as black fielded his vision.
He barely got a curse out before the all too telling sound of a spiritually powered string to the famous yo-yo pinned against restraint and shot them upwards, his unmasked face burying itself in the crook of her neck from the force rush of air to his eyes.
His chest tightened to the smell of hibiscus flowers and berries, clutching her tighter for the first time in a long while. Half aware he shifted her higher against him to have her bring them closer.
Well fuck if he wasn’t the most touch starved and needy ex ever.
The familiar sound of a specific metal railing being bounded by the yo-yo was the only warning he got before the touched surface with his feet and she loosened her grip.
He barely heard the words of her detransformation before he could see the flash of pink through black and pulled back from her neck.
Terror shook through him, and his hands and body trembled against her as he couldn’t force himself to look up. Staring intently at the silver anchor necklace he gave her, bounded in a rope of small teal jewels.
Luka couldn’t look at her face, couldn’t look away from the necklace she still wore. He couldn’t let her go or put her down either.
“Breathe love,” her quiet voice spoke, soft and hesitant, breaking Luka as he dropped them to his knees and brought her closer than before.
An audible sob he hadn’t heard since she walked away from him escaped his lips and heaved for air as his chin rested over her head and he looked frantically in front of him. At her balcony, the plants that littered the space and the wood paneling they rested on, the little ladybug statue he bought her as a cute joke.
Seeing none of it through blurry eyes, forcing himself to drop his head to her shoulder as she quaked with tears and ran a soothing hand through his hair.
“I’m so sorry, love.” He couldn’t get words out as he just grounded his face into her. “I thought I was protecting you, I didn’t realize how wrong I was.”
She pulled his face up, ceruleans magnified as his pupils dilated to the sight of her in front of him once again and the tips of his ears flaring just by her touch for the first time in forever. She caught a steam of tears with her thumb, giving him a tight smile.
“My miraculous gave me the intuition that Hawkmoth would make his final move.” She paused for a second, closing her eyes and she breathed deeply. “I thought for sure I would die when he did. Either by his winning, or ours but I would end up a casualty or sacrifice. You guys weren’t even supposed to be there, but Adrien insisted for backup and I just...”
“You left me because you thought you were going to be killed?” Voice gravelly and sore from the coffee shop, he pressed on, fingers twitching at her back. “Why didn’t you tell me? Even if you had to strap me down just to bench me from the fight, you should’ve told me.”
“You’re right,” she rushed. “Absolutely right, and it was pure hell to leave to that day or say what I did. I’ve never been more miserable with my life than I’ve been since we’ve broke up. I hate it, I hate being away from you so much, Luka.”
“Be mine again.”
“What?” She blinked, choking on air.
He squeezed his eyes shut, leaning into her touch when she held his face. “I don’t, I don’t fucking care if I’m being selfish anymore. It’s so hard not to be when it comes to you, Marinette. All these small details engraved to my mind, committed to memory and nothing to do with it.
“I keep leaving hoodies I casually wear on my amp for you to take, I keep putting that soft blanket you’re obsessed with folded on the edge of my bed for you to yank off and curl into as soon as you step into my room.” He forced his eyes not to open as he kept going, following the rhythm she provided and he struggled to find words for. “The minute I wake up, before I even open my eyes to see for the first time of the day, my phone is already in my hand with your contact open and a good morning text at the ready for you. Even good night texts when I reset my alarms. I keep leaving your spot open on my bed in case you visit while I’m asleep. Your favorite part on the couch for you. The last cherry popsicle of the package, and the cookie dough ice cream I bought out of habit are still in the freezer waiting for you to find them.
“I’m fucking broken without you.” He rasped, ceruleans meeting baby blues, “I’m missing you emotionally, figuratively, mentally, physically. How the hell am I supposed to be okay when you’ve become such a big part of me? When you’re my literal other half?”
She nudged his button nose with her small one, “I,” she gave a dark laugh that he felt in his core. “I keep airing out my room whenever my sewing machine leaves behind that electrical smell your nose scrunches at so much.” She giggled when she felt him do it at the mention of the scent. “I let the popcorn cook for half a minute longer to get it a little burnt like how you like. I sleep in your hoodies to leave behind the smell of my perfume and shampoo the way you said you like your hoodies to smell when I give them back. I play with my necklace when I grow nervous and can’t talk to you. I can’t go more than five hours without hovering over your contact name or looking at our pictures.”
He sat back on his knees, letting her adjust herself out of habit and moving her hair away from her face. The smile he gave was tight but reassuring.
“I missed you, doll.”
“I missed you too, Luka.” She paused for a second, “Hey,” she started cautiously.
“Hm,”
“Luka, you know I wasn’t lying when I said that I loved you, right?”
The glint that quickly came to his eyes didn’t waver like his abused voice did, “I kinda figured from all the times you’ve blushed and stuttered. The times you tripped when I caught you off guard with a flirtatious comment or wink. And the times you kissed me like it was the end of the world.”
He looked up to see her set a false murderous glare above him as he ran his thumb over the teal gems in the rope around the anchor of her necklace, a smirk he hadn’t felt making way to his face as one of his naturally slightly pointer canines became visible to express his pure happiness.
“I forgot how much of a jerk you could be,” she huffed, looking away and sniffing.
“I’m sorry, doll.” He made her look at him, eyes still shining with unshed tears as the stared into hers. His grin was pure radiance, “I love you.”
She let him pull her down to a kiss, feeling those soft pouty lips he loved so much back on his again. “I know,” she replied between kisses, causing him to huff and pull away with his own pout. She held alone his jawline, “I’m kidding, kinda. But, I love you too.”
Her giggle when he let out a happy and short hum was pure music to his ears as her melody finally fell back into the correct time signature and key. Even as he parted with a pant and hugged her close, stroking her hair.
“Just, don’t leave me in the dark again.” He started, seeing her phone that fell out of her back pocket light up with a text from Alya.
Alya: So did you kiss and makeup, or not? I have Nino on the edge of his seat.
Alya: no really, he keeps asking and refuses to do ANYTHING until he finds out.
Alya: for fuck’s sake, answer and let me get laid
He hid his smile in her shoulder from the texts and the fact that she never changed her screens from them. Letting him see her cheek smushed up against his chest and her arm lazily thrown around his waist while his held her close.
“Never, not again. I’m not stupid enough to make the same mistake twice like I once was.” He snorted at the reference to her old crush on Adrien years ago. “But we do have something to talk about.”
He pulled back, eyeing her cautiously. “Did I do something?”
“Yes,” his heart fell and he was ready to beg for her forgiveness. “You know how many girls have your picture now? Videos of you singing a song in such a beautifully tortured way with those growls, and the rough notes and the, stop laughing Couffaine!”
“I’m sorry,” he muffled his laughs behind his hand. “I forgot how much fun I had just by talking with you and your small bouts of jealousy.”
“Oh, I’m bad? Says the boy who sang a song that people keep covering for heartbreak.”
“I’m getting paid for doing it.”
“How much?”
“40% of the customers I brought in by drawing a crowd and a coffee on the house,” he let a smile spread across his face. “You know, I might be able to change it. Can I treat you to a free mint hot chocolate, a date as well maybe?”
She considered him for a second.
“With whipped cream,” he added for extra measure to his small sweet’s addict. He dimpled up at her with a scrunch when she kissed his button nose.
“God, I love you, Luka.”
“I love you too,” he kissed her slowly, “Mari, just don’t let me sing like that again, my voice is killing me.”
“Got it, never leave you again.”
“Pretty much.”
“Hey, you look cute with your baseball cap backwards like this.” She winked, pulling his black hat from the balcony floor where it fell off and back on his head.
“I’d respond with a witty comment, but it hurts to talk now.”
She grinned, “Hm, I love you.”
Luka still smiled despite flinching from the rawness of his throat, “I love you.”

I would love to request a partner! While I'm a bit of an anxious mess, when I find a passion for something, I go all in. I enjoy doodling and painting, as well as playing video games in my spare time. But my real interest is in various animals, specifically birds. I would one day love to go into video game design or falconeering. I can find it a bit hard to open up to people, and I have trouble communicating, but when I do make friends I'm super loyal and will support you 100%!
Thank you very much for waiting. I’m so sorry it took such a long time and I hope this makes up for it.
SOMETHING NEW: I’m going to be adding a short little story (I guess you can call it that) on how you meet your partner! If you want to request a story instead of a partner request, I’d be happy to do that too. EX: “Can you do a story on how me and my Bulbasaur become partners?”  but you tell me what you like, what things you’re interested in and I’ll try to piece everything together.
I have the perfect partner for you! Let me introduce you to...
Tumblr media
Ponyta! I think Ponyta would be perfect for you because...
(1) Unlike its Alolan counterpart, Kanto Ponyta is very reserved and appreciates its privacy.  It enjoys relaxing, napping and strolling at its own pace. Ponyta is not the kind of Pokemon that seeks strenuous activities as it prefers environments that are quiet and calm. Your love for art is one that will be shared by Ponyta as it’s an activity that doesn’t exert energy. When Ponyta doesn’t want to join, you can find your pal sleeping by your feet. Your love for birds will also be a great addition to Ponyta’s life! Keeping up with bird Pokemon is a task that can be physically straining. You’ll need a partner that can run through the forests at high speeds and stay quiet while doing so-oh wait you can have! Blisters and sore muscles won’t be something you have to worry about anymore with Ponyta by your side. Hitch a ride on your pals back and glide through the forest like birds through the clouds. Time spent together is something Ponyta treasures very deeply and only wants to share with you.
(2) Just like you, Ponyta can be very nervous and distrustful of others. It really only bonds with one person for the entirety of its life. The first thing it will do is run when it feels scared. The world can be scary especially when our brains aren’t cooperating with us, but having someone to share this fear and empathize with can make life a little bit easier. Wanting to do good by Ponyta means stepping out of your comfort zone and setting an example for your pal. As long as you make an effort, Ponyta will too. Having Ponyta’s love and affection all to yourself is nice but sharing the immense love Ponyta has in its heart will definitely benefit the world. Your own growth both as an individual and a trainer will be reflected when you see Ponyta flinching less around others and no longer hiding behind you during social gatherings. To see your pal’s confidence grow overtime will ignite your spirit.
(3) I really recommend you and Ponyta work as park rangers on your days off! Your guys’ love for Pokemon, nature and peace will really do the wild some good. You might even find your voice and bravery when you have to educate people on conservation and how to live alongside Pokemon. It’ll even help Ponyta become more confident as well! Children and other trainers will be amazed by Ponyta’s speed and power.
HOW YOU AND PONYTA WILL MEET:
You and Ponyta will meet for the first time on a warm summer day. You’ll be writing down notes about a wild Staravia you’ve been watching from afar when you hear some bushes rustling behind you. Thinking it’s just a wild Pokemon walking around, you don’t worry too much and take off your backpack to minimize the chances of making noise as you approach the Staravia. After you gather all the information you need you walk back to your backpack only to find that your bag has been rummaged through and all your food is gone. Whoever the culprit is isn’t the smartest as they left a trail of crumbs for you to follow. The crumb trail leads you to a giant tree with a large opening in its trunk. Inside, you find a small Ponyta curled up and licking what looks like a gash on its leg. The crumbs on its snout and chocolate smears all over its face is all the evidence you need to know that you’re looking at your snack thief. Worry and fear replace the anger you felt earlier and you go towards the wild Ponyta without hesitation. The Ponyta jumps up in fear at your presence and charges at you head on. Before it could make contact, you’ve already ran out and kept running until you feel safe.
As the day goes by, you keep thinking about the Ponyta and how fragile it looked. Your chocolate bars do not provide any nutritional value and will be of no help to its injury.
The next day, you visit the Pokemon Centre and tell Nurse Joy about the wild Ponyta you found. She gives you medicine in the form of a powder and tells you to mix the medicine in with some mashed berries in a bowl. With trembling legs, you approach the same den as yesterday and find no Pokemon there. Thinking that Ponyta went out to find food, you work as quickly as possible before it returns. You leave your medicine mixture in the middle along with a chocolate bar. You take shelter behind another tree and watch the den just to make sure no other wild Pokemon come by and steal Ponyta’s food. As if luck was on your own, Ponyta appears after a few minutes and limps towards the den. You watch with a heavy hurt as Ponyta struggles to crouch down in order to reach the food you’ve set out for it. A pained whimper was what broke the straw for you. Mustering up all the courage inside of you, you count to three and emerge from your hiding spot. Ponyta hears you and gets into a fighting stance. You put your hands up and explain to the Ponyta that you only want to help and that you brought the bowl of food. Not having any strength to fight, Ponyta remains in its stance as you reach for the bowl and bring it up to its mouth. It sniffs the berries and turns its head away. You explain that it smells that way because of the medicine and that the medicine will heal its wound. Fumbling, you reach for the chocolate bar and show it to the wild Pokemon.  “This will cancel out the bitter taste but only after you finish the whole bowl of medicine!” you try to coax it. Hungry and tired, the Ponyta abides and eats the mix of berries and medicine, grimacing with every bitter bite. Before you leave, you instruct Ponyta to rest for the rest of the day and to take it easy.
After a week of your encounter with the wild Ponyta, you’re excitedly hurrying back to the same forest as a pack of Talonflame was spotted there by other bird watchers. Finding a perfect spot, you plop down and take out your binoculars. There’s rustling behind you but you’re too engrossed by the wild birds to care. It isn’t until your back begins to feel particularly warm that you finally turn around and come face to face with a long snout. After the initial shock, you realize it’s that wild Ponyta from last week and your eye immediately go towards its fully healed wound. You congratulate it and reach out to pet the Ponyta but hesitate as its flames could easily burn you when it suddenly rubs its head against your hand and greets you with delight. The flames don’t burn at all.
Other Pokemon considered: Spinda, Breloom, Leafeon

Bittersweet meetings pt9
I’m sorry...What did you ask?”
Lapis rested her elbows on the table top with her hands interlaced, her blazing blue eyes steeled and aimed directly at Steven. “Have you ever considered dating one of us?”
Steven couldn’t find anything to say, completely sideswiped by the question. He knew them all for a long time and,the answer was not easy for multiple reasons. Garnet and Pearl was basically raised with him and his sisters; Amethyst, Rose and Nora. His affection for them was deeply familial. Plus Pearl is a lesbian and Garnet is asexual and possibly aromantic, so no. Jasper is his cousin so that was also a no.
There was Peridot, who he never really felt anything more than friendship for but, Steven has  her found to be attractive due to her energetic and nerdy attitude and she was very cute in her own right. He’d be lying if he said he never thought about it once and again with her.
Lapis..Well she was a looker thanks to all her swimming. Sometimes she can be direct, blunt, sarcastic (but hell they all could be, given the right circumstances.), and a bit withdrawn. That being said she can also a very deep minded person, very fun, and quite loyal; It goes without saying that she had a lot of romantic admirers and for a quick moment in time he thought he was one of them. The more he got to know her though, the easier it was able to identify his feeling as a deep friendship.
Finally, there was Connie and really what can be said about his view of her, of ‘them’? They excite and calm each other better than anyone else. They share jokes, glances, and gestures that reserved for them alone. They see through each others lies, know each other idiosyncrasies, and at times are the reason for their darker behavior traits.
It's always been strange to him, despite not knowing her as long as she knew Jasper, They always seemed to have a certain chemistry and endearment towards each other. It was natural for them to fall into each other...Even when he was gunning for Stevonnie’s affection and Connie was with Jasper, they still held each other as a top priority. They are each other partners in crime, confidants.. She’s his berry to his biscuit.
Steven stared at Lapis who felt anxious, despite never changing form or position. It was her eyes that gave it away, they were a bit misty. “Why you ask that? What you heard something?”“Beside the common gossip about me and Con-”
Lapis annoyed growl put him on edge..more so than the question in general, he was hoping his little tease would make her smile.
“Can you not and answer the question, Steven?”
Steven sighed, scratching his head. “I don’t know..I have had glancing thoughts..Nothing solid or to make a move on.”  Despite telling the truth, it felt like a lie to him; more-so, it felt like he was lying to himself.
Lapis eyes widen at his answer and a sly smile formed on her face. “Really, Who?”
“Lapis, what with this interrogation?” Steven smirked as he continued. “ Trying to get something out of this?”
Lapis gave him a stone faced glare before snickering a bit. “Maybe if this happened a few years back, like the seventh grade.” .
Steven blinked “Wait what? You saying you had a crush on me?”
Lapis shrugged “Not saying I had a crush on you...but I did consider approaching you. .”
“Why you never said anything?”
Lapis sighed and turned her gaze to the ceiling. “ Reasons.  For one I thought you still held a flame for Stevonnie, at the time.”
“Granted, but I had already moved on from them by then.”
“Still...Second I don’t know if you noticed, but you were a hot topic in school. A lot of people admire and crush on you..you don’t know how much I have heard girls and some guys whisper about you.”
Steven chuckled a bit. “You didn’t want to get lumped in with those types. I get you.”
“Exactly, exactly” Lapis gave him an impish grin before continuing. “Beside I know you and you ain’t that great..”
Steven shook head, chuckling “That’s why you had a crush on me huh, Lappy?”
“Oh, deflate that ego of yours, Universe.”
Steven  held his hand up in mock surrender. “Ok.. Ok.. So Stevonnie, public status, what else?”
Lapis chuckle taking a sip of her root beer. She placed the cup before giving Steven an accusing look, she shook her head with a smirk leaning back. “Nah. you don’t need to know, at least not for free.
Steven nodded his head left to right in consideration, not noticing the minuscule lick of Lapis lips as she watched amusingly. “What you wanna know?”
“You know; what I want to know. Those dreams.’
“Never said dreams, said thoughts, passing thoughts at that”
Lapis sat up with her arms crossed and leaned across the table, pressing her breasts against her arms slightly, getting closer to Steven “.Between us, how much of those thoughts catered to me.”
“Umm-hmm-hmm.”
Steven, rose quartz pink,  raised his left index and tried to speak but nothing came out. He just kept looking at Lapis who was now looking back at him with a slightly  seductive glint in her blue eyes.
“I just wanna know how much times you thought about me. Not like I’m gonna get mad.”
‘No, you might think something equally as bad though!’ Steven mentally screamed as he remained silent. “I don’t know Laps, things might change if we continue.”
He hoped his joking demeanor would dissuade her from prying especially with how deeply she been looking at him ..
“Pssh, really? I just told you that I crushed on you and it not like were all of a sudden an item.or is it you never thought about me that way;  afraid to hurt my pride, Steven..”
“OH! So you did crush on me!”
“This isn’t about past Lapis,  this about you.”
Steven shook his head cockily as he took a sip of his drink, and leaned back. “ Sure, so we just gonna gloss over the fact that you had a crush on me back when.”
“Oh whatever, Universe....Beside not like I never caught you checking me out around the pool. ”
Steven took a gulp of his durian soda . “Pleading the fifth.”
Lapis smiled victoriously before pinching his cheeks “ I’m a sexy thing, you can admit it.”
“Yeah-yeah, objectively.”
Lapis let go with a smug smirk before sitting down.“Oh i’m sure you’re being objective. Which is why the three of us caught you gaze wandering, a multiple of times.. You ain't that subtle. You have your own little garden of beauties and you know it.”
.Steven groaned as he pointed a finger at the bluenette  ”It’s not like y’all haven’t done the same to me!”
Lapis arched an eyebrow and shrug. “I still do when you dress up. Can’t say for the Peridot and well..you'd know better than i would about the third one.”
He ignored the bite ate the end of her statement with a cocky grin. "Scandalous, Laps. didn’t know I had your eye.” Steven took a bite of the last slice of pizza.
Lapis allowed a bashful smile to envelope on her face. “Well, it’s not like you’re the only person and it’s not a lust filled gaze or anything...It’s totally innocent and observatory.”
Steven smiled gently at his ‘date’ placing the pizza down on his plate. “Aww, that kind of sweet Lapis. Like a nice little water guardian.”
Lapis took the half eaten slice and bit into it crust first .“You got a nice ass though.”.
Steven aghast face imitated a tomato as he try to find the words to respond to Lapis nonchalant admission. “Don’t talk with your mouth full, give me my pizza and what the fuck!?”
Lapis shrugged as she took a larger bite through the remaining pizza before putting back on Stevens plate, who quickly ate the rest. She gave  him a jester's smirk after swallowing the slice. “Ey, that’s the consensus of a number of girls..and some boys.”
Steven shook his head, while laughing gently and expressively raised his arms in surrender. “ My family wears weight well...Still didn’t expect that from you.”
“Which is why I said it…” Lapis paused and arched her eyebrows before pointing at her friend. “Who else told you this, cause that was way more calmer than I expected.”
“I’m not deaf and our student body haven’t exactly master stealth and subtly.”
“True enough.” Lapis sat up and stretched the arch of her back with a grunt and sighed when she relaxed, throwing herself on top of the table face down. “Meow”
“Pfft! I approve the prostration Lazuli.”
"Ha! Not even in your wildest..” The bluenette turned to face him a bit of an amorous light in her blues. “Or maybe I'm wrong about that, huh?”
Steven didn’t say anything but he did give her a playful smile. Feeling a bit relaxed as he turned to the window feeling a bit jolly and a bit tired. His eyes widen as he saw Connie walking pass across the street with Stevonnie and Jeff. He couldn't help the bloom of his cheeks, when he saw her in an old jacket of his he left at her place a few weeks ago.
While Stevonnie and Jeff was in conversation, Connie was a few steps behind them listening to music from the portable music player he got her. A gentle smile graced his lips as he saw the Strawberry and biscuit buds in her ears, and the red smile on her face as she held the the player close to her chest; hugging it. He chuckled a bit as Stevonnie gave their sister a teasing smile and despite not knowing what would said..It made the president speed up her pace to catch up with Jeff..Though she never did put the player away.
He couldn't help the felling of adoration within looking at Connie actions. The pride in his heart knowing it was his actions that caused her to act so bashful, blissful and a bit air headed. ‘Have you ever considered seriously dating one of us?’
His eyes widen at the thought or Stevonnie's side glance towards him before following the two. He didn’t know.
“Ready to go?”
Steven turned to the swimmer quickly red faced as he looked into her prying eyes the color of her namesake. ’Have you ever considered seriously dating one of us?’ Lapis question hit him harder than he expected and god damn it..
He now has a definite answer.
“Yes.”
He just hopes that the ‘signs’ he caught on were him misreading...or that Lapis won’t hate him after tonight.

Dreaming On Your Feet: Chapter 26
Read on Ao3!
Summary: Aelin Galathynius is one of the newest company members of the Rifthold Ballet Theatre, and she is eager to make all of her dreams a reality. She has the talent, the ambition, the walls no one can get past, and the thick skin that no one can get under. Except for new principal dancer Rowan Whitethorn. He’s arrogant, talented, and infuriating - and they just might have more in common than they think.
Previous Chapter / Next Chapter
Chapter 26: Movie Day
Aelin had been looking at the door for what felt like a lifetime.
She was there on time, as she always was for anything. But this wasn’t just anything.
This was a day with Rowan. Just him, just her. No one else.
Does that make it a date?
No. Just a day with my . . . best friend?
Sure. Let’s call it that.
Oh, who am I kidding? It’s a day off to have fun, so let’s make it one.
Aelin adjusted her bag on her shoulder, using her other hand to knock on Rowan’s door.
It was only half a heartbeat before it opened.
As always, she had to lift her head to meet his gaze. The edges of his eyes crinkled as he smiled down at her. “Morning!” she chirped with a grin.
“Good morning, sunshine,” Rowan said, opening the door wider for her to enter his apartment. “Are you ready to do absolutely nothing today?”
“I feel like this is going to be a lot harder than it sounds,” Aelin said with a laugh. “I’m not very good at sitting still for very long.”
“Well, that’s why I’m here, isn’t it?”
“Oh, we both know you can’t make me do anything I don’t want to do myself,” Aelin countered.
Rowan barked a laugh as he took her bag from off her shoulder. “This is going to be quite a great day.”
----------
Rowan settled on the couch as Aelin popped her first movie into his TV. “What’ve you got there?” he asked.
She padded back around the coffee table, plopping down next to him. “The Two Towers,” she replied with a grin.
“Not the first or the third movies?” he asked curiously.
Aelin shrugged. “Two Towers has always been my favorite,” she said, picking up the remote as the main menu appeared. “Gandalf’s return, Merry and Pippin and the Ents, everything that happens in Rohan, the Battle of Helm’s Deep . . . I feel like you learn the most about the characters in this one.”
Rowan was inclined to agree with her. “That’s fair.”
“Oh! I almost forgot.” Aelin reached for her bag, pulling out a heating pad. “If today is about taking care of ourselves, then for the love of the gods, please use a heating pad on your shoulder.”
“Why do I need –”
“You hold most of your tension in your left shoulder, just like me,” she observed with a knowing smile. “You’re not going to make it through Romeo if you let it get worse.”
Romeo.
She knows. She figured it out.
His heart thundered in his chest. “So. . . now you know, huh?” Oh, gods, oh, gods –
Aelin turned her turquoise gaze to him. “I have no idea what you’re talking about,” she said with a wink, lifting the ice pack he had provided her onto her foot. “Now shut up and watch the movie.”
Rowan let his eyes linger on her for a few extra moments before turning his attention to the movie.
Gods, I’m in so much trouble, aren’t I?
----------
It wasn’t long before Aelin had drifted closer to Rowan on the couch. And it wasn’t long after that before his arm rested on the couch behind her. Everything about him, with him, just felt so. . . right.
She watched Aragorn and Eowyn conversing as the scene shifted to a flashback of Aragorn with Arwen, returning the jewel to his love and telling her to move on from him.
Her chest tightened. She knew what it was to feel unworthy of someone, to believe that they would be better off without you.
Her eyes burned as she looked at Arwen, whose own eyes shone with tears.
As if he read her thoughts, Rowan’s arm circled her shoulder, gently tugging her to rest her head on his shoulder. “What is it?” he asked quietly.
Aelin opted for a change of subject instead. “Is there a Lord of the Rings character you think you’re the most like?”
He looked down at her, a hint of amusement in his eyes. “Is there one that you think I’m most like?”
“Hmm.” Aelin studied him for a moment, then looked back to the movie at Aragorn. “The first and obvious instinct would be Aragorn. The broodiness, the self-imposed expectations, the –”
“Okay, I get it,” Rowan chuckled.
“And you’re definitely as stubborn as Gimli.”
“Hey!”
“When it comes to looks, though, you’re closest to Legolas, minus the pointy ears.”
Rowan laughed. “Okay, fine. Two can play at that game.”
“Oh?” Aelin looked up at him again. “Think you have me pegged, Whitethorn?”
His eyes flashed at that. “You’re as stubborn as Sam.”
Interesting. . . “And?”
“And as loyal.” When she was silent, he continued. “And you’re as noble as Arwen. As intelligent as Legolas.”
She felt the color rise to her cheeks as he spoke, working up her courage to tell him the truth. He always deserved the truth. “I think you’re the most like Faramir though,” she said with a deep breath, turning her eyes back to the screen. Bracing herself for him to ask –
“Why do you say that?” he asked quietly.
“You’ve lost a lot,” she began tentatively. “You’re always striving to be better. To be more. Just like him. But the thing is. . . Faramir shouldn’t have to. He doesn’t have to.” She reached for his other hand, slowly lacing her fingers with his. “Because whether he knows it or not, he’s already the kind of person that the people around him need.”
Rowan was still.
Aelin held her breath, waiting for him to say something.
Then she felt his head rest lightly on hers, his lips pressing a gentle kiss to her hair. She felt him exhale, a bit shakily. Is he . . .
He muttered something into her hair, something she couldn’t understand.
She didn’t say anything, choosing instead to nestle closer to him. To the man who deserved to have all the happiness in the world.
She didn’t deserve him. There was no way the world would give her something like this, someone like him.
She just hoped that maybe, just maybe. . . she was enough.
----------
The rest of the movie was spent in silence, with some occasional chuckles at Gimli or Merry and Pippin. It had been a long time since Rowan had watched it, and he forgot how much he loved the series. It had always struck him deeply, how much the characters – and their struggles – resonated with him.
As the credits began to roll, he felt Aelin shift beside him. “I love that movie,” she sighed.
“Excellent way to start the day,” he agreed. He moved to stand up from the couch, heading to the TV and taking out the disc.
“So what do you have now?” she asked.
“How about something a little more lighthearted?” He made his way back towards the kitchen, taking a bowl of berries out of the fridge. “I’ve got a snack, too.” He set the bowl on the coffee table in front of Aelin, along with a smaller bowl of sugar.
She looked up at him in surprise. Okay, so maybe he had asked Lysandra what Aelin liked to munch on. . .
He gave her a wink and shrugged, sitting back down next to her as Pirates of the Caribbean began.
“Good choice, Whitethorn,” she said, nodding in approval.
“The first one’s still the best,” he replied with a smile. Then he noticed that the blue ice pack was lying on the coffee table – and there was no way it was still frozen. He immediately stood up again and picked it up.
“Hey, I can get it –”
“I’m making sure you’re not doing anything, remember?” he called from the kitchen. He always kept two ice packs in the freezer, so after he put the un-frozen one back, he took out the other.
“I can take care of myself, you know,” Aelin huffed when he came back, handing her the frozen pack as he plopped back on the couch.
“I know you can, Aelin. Gods above, I know you can.” Rowan ran a hand through his hair. “But that doesn’t mean that you have to all the time.”
Her eyes softened. Rowan took her hand again, this time lifting it to his lips briefly before they lapsed into comfortable silence again.
“Do I get to help with dinner at least?” Aelin asked after a while.
Rowan chuckled. “Maybe.”
----------
Aelin did get to help with dinner after all.
Turns out Rowan had planned to make chicken parmesan, her favorite Italian dish. So naturally, Aelin had to make sure he got everything right.
She showed him how to season the tomatoes, how to fry the chicken just right so it wouldn’t burn. He took it all in, studying every movement she made when she was cooking. Of course, she let him do some of the work, too.
And they ended up with some of the best chicken parmesan Aelin had ever had.
Now, they were back on the couch – and the Disney movies had come out. The Emperor’s New Groove was followed by The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and they decided they’d watch one more before calling it a night.
“Here’s what I’ve got left,” Aelin said, holding up her bag for Rowan to browse. “You can pick the last one.”
Rowan rifled through the movies before pulling one out. “One of my favorites,” he admitted, gesturing to her copy of Hercules that he now held.
“Rowan Whitethorn is admitting to liking Disney movies?” Aelin drew back in mock surprise. “I’ve felt terrible for picking the last two, and here you were, secretly enjoying both!”
Rowan chuckled. “Okay, yes, I do enjoy Disney movies. Some infinitely more than others.” He moved to put it into the TV. “I could totally see you as Meg. For all the good reasons,” he clarified, coming back to sit by her.
“I take that as an absolute compliment,” Aelin said. “I could totally see you as awkward teenage Hercules, too.”
Rowan barked a laugh. “Well, you wouldn’t be far off, to be honest.”
“I can’t wait to hear all about awkard teenage Rowan.”
Rowan settled in beside her, opening his arm for her to nestle into again. Her hand found his automatically as the Muses began to sing on the screen. “Someday I’ll tell you all about him.”
----------
Hercules was, in all seriousness, one of Rowan’s favorite animated movies. It was one of the ones he had grown up with, one that had always given young Rowan something to strive for.
“Remember that whole training montage scene?” Rowan asked. “There was a rope swing by a lake near where I grew up. I may or may not have pretended to be Hercules when I swung into the lake as a kid.” He smiled at the memory.
But Aelin was quiet.
“What, no smart remarks? No comments about imagining little me pretending to be Hercules?” he asked. Still, she didn’t respond. He shifted to get a look at her face.
Her eyes were closed, her breathing soft and steady.
Aelin was asleep.
Rowan smiled. “I know you can’t hear me right now, but I just want to tell you that today was one of the most fun days I’ve ever had,” he whispered. He looked back at the screen, where Hercules was diving into the river of Death to retrieve Meg’s soul. “What is it Zeus says? ‘A true hero is defined by the strength of his heart,’ or something like that.”
Rowan brushed a stray lock of golden hair out of Aelin’s face, his fingers combing through the ends. “Have I ever told you how much I love your hair?” he said softly. “It reminds me of the color of the sun in the fall. Or that night that you were in the studio and you told me about Sam . . . your hair looked like the embers of a fire when you walked away.” He swallowed the lump in his throat at the memory. He looked down at the woman sleeping in his arms – this beautiful, brave, incredible woman. “And I remember going home that night and thinking that letting you walk away was the craziest, stupidest thing I had ever done.”
“People always do crazy things – when they’re in love.”
Rowan’s head shot up to look at the screen. He sighed, lightly resting his head on Aelin’s.
“Gods, they sure do, don’t they?”

You may have discussed this, but what are your thoughts on Brittana's horoscope signs? In canon and/or Mouseverse. Thank you!
Hey, @gaylati!
Full disclosure: I know very little about horoscopes, and it seems like there’s a lot of conflicting information out there about what the common traits are for each sign and which signs are compatible with each other and whatnot, so if anything I say here doesn’t fit, I apologize.
Discussion after the cut.
________
So.
The truth is that, in canon, we really don’t get any concrete information about when Brittana’s respective birthdays might be, though we can infer based on the fact that they were both originally set to graduate in 2012 that—barring either one of them having been held back or skipped forward prior to Brittany’s second senior year—they were both likely born sometime between September 1993 and September 1994 (since September is the “cut-off month” to begin kindergarten in Ohio).
Brittany does mention in episode 3x01 that she is a “water sign,” and while it’s entirely possible given the context for the scene that she is just joking, if we take her statement literally, then that means she is either a Scorpio, Pisces, or Cancer, meaning that she could have been born between
October 23rd and November 21st, 1993 (Scorpio)
February 18th and March 20th, 1994 (Pisces)
June 20th and July 22nd, 1994 (Cancer)
We get no information in canon about what Santana’s sign may be.
My personal headcanon, based on my very limited understanding, is that Brittany is a Scorpio (and that’s what she is in the Mouseverse).
Having nothing else to base it on, and once again bearing in mind my very limited understanding of horoscopes, my personal headcanon is that Santana is a Leo (and that’s what she is in the Mouseverse).
I like the idea of Brittana’s signs being “complementary opposites,” water and fire.
Here’s my reasoning:
Brittany
Scorpios are known for having magnetic personalities, though they tend to conceal parts of themselves depending on the company. When making plans, Scorpios can be secretive. They are typically focused and intuitive in their approaches to problem-solving; loyal to friends and vengeful to enemies in their social relationships; manipulative when they want or need something; and protective when it comes to the people they love.
To me, Brittany possesses a lot of the above-mentioned Scorpio traits.
Brittany’s personality is most definitely magnetic. She’s the most popular girl in school, and, as we see during her senior class president campaign, people are drawn to her, even though they may not always understand what she’s talking about. Brittany can be funny, confident, outgoing, whimsical, etc., all of which are traits that attract people to her. She’s the kind of electric personality lots of people want to be and lots more people—including Santana, Artie, Rory, and Sam—want to be with.
Brittany can be secretive about her plans—like when she hides her relationship with Santana during early S3 and conceals from everyone her initial acceptance to MIT in S4—and chameleonlike in her approach to dealing with people, putting forward a different face, depending on with whom she’s dealing. To some, she’s silly and aloof. To others, she’s wise and philosophical. To many, she’s a riddle wrapped in an enigma. Very few people except for Santana ever get full access to “the real her.”
When Brittany sets her mind to solving a problem, she isn’t easily disuaded, as per what we see when she comes up with Project Unicorn to combat bullying at WMHS and goes to very elaborate lengths to reconcile Alma and Santana prior to the wedding. While she isn’t as plan-reliant as Santana is on the whole, she is singularly focused on the occasions when she does put plans into motion.
She is also highly intuitive. Though many people misread Brittany as someone with immature emotions, the truth is that Brittany is very emotionally mature and possesses a high degree of emotional intelligence. She understands what makes people tick—and especially Santana. That’s why she’s able to be patient when Santana emotionally flails throughout S2. That’s also why Brittany is able to respond so well to Santana’s emotional needs (“If you want me, I’m here”). Though Brittany also has the propensity to be logical—hello, big, beautiful math brain!—she most frequently operates in response to what feels right. She senses and perceives a lot more than people realize.
The “loyal to friends and vengeful to enemies” thing? That’s Brittany to a T. If you treat her and hers well, then she’s got your back. (See her relationship with Mercedes.) But if you treat her and hers poorly, then you’ve got another thing coming to you. (See her relationship with Rachel.) Though she has a reputation for being kind and friendly, make no mistake: Baby Girl can be petty af to those who cross her, making their lives hell in ways they don’t even see coming.
When it comes to being manipulative to get what she wants, I have two words for you: Sneaky!Brittany. Brittany uses people’s low expectations for her against them, conning and conniving her way to the top as it serves her purposes.
When it comes to being protective of those she loves, well, just look to her entire relationship with Santana but especially to the speech she makes to Alma in episode 6x06. Though Brittany often avoids direct conflict, she isn’t afraid to step into the ring when it comes to defending Santana and keeping her heart safe.
Santana
Leos are known for having a dramatic flare and deep-seated need for self-expression; occasionally being overbearing and stepping on the toes of those around them; and constantly seeking for love and approval. They are said to wear their hearts on their sleeves and be somewhat reactive. They are also known for being hopeless romantics and for their courage, kindness, generosity, protectiveness, and brutal honesty.
—which is pretty Santana, tbqh.
Aside from Rachel Berry, Santana is probably the most Extra™ person to ever Extra™. She loves performing—“Glee club is the best part of my day, okay?”—and shines when she’s on stage. One of her big motivations throughout the show is to “be seen as the star that [she is].” Baby Girl is happiest when she’s singing and dancing her heart out.
Self-expression is a huge thing with Santana. She’s “just gotta be [her].” As she tells her grandmother in episode 3x07, having to pretend to be someone she’s not drains her. Her arc on the show is all about learning to first accept and then express herself—and once she starts being honest about who she is, she never looks back.
When it comes to being potentially overbearing and stepping on others’ toes, look no further than to her relationships within the glee club: Santana is constantly giving “tough love” and saying more than she should, overstepping personal boundaries (like when she ransacks Hummelberry’s belongings after she moves into the Loft), going overboard in her schemes to influence those around her (like when she engineers a sting operation to take down Sebastian Smythe to avenge Blaine’s eye injury), etc. She can be A Lot™ sometimes, which is part of why she encounters so much relational friction with the New Directions over the years.
Seeking for love and approval? That is Santana’s main motivation throughout the show. Baby Girl just wants so much to love and be loved. It’s her be all and end all.
Santana definitely wears her heart on her sleeve and has a reactive temperament. She cries at the drop of a hat and also can’t help but break into the biggest, dimple-deep smile whenever she’s truly happy. Even when she pretends not to, the truth is that she feels a lot and feels deeply in spite of herself.
Hopeless romantic? Check.
Courage, kindness, generosity, and protectiveness? Check.
Brutal honesty? “I keep it real, and I’m hilarious.” Check.
Brittana
In terms of their compatibility, Scorpio/Leo unions are said to be built on intense connections, with both partners being extremely loyal to and protective of each other. Their dynamics typically have a strong sexual component. While early on, poor communication and a lack of emotional openness can cause problems, if both partners work through these issues and learn to disclose to each other, they can form a strong, healthy “us against the world” bond.
—which is a pretty good summation of Brittana, imo.
Intense connection? As they state numerous times throughout the show, Brittany and Santana consider their bond to be a once-in-a-lifetime, infinite, soulmate-level one true love. They both love each other more than anyone else in the world.
As discussed above, both of them are individually highly loyal to and protective of each other. They’re also both protective of their relationship. When faced with opposition, they join hands and form ranks, as is apparent when they both separately confront Kurt for disparaging their engagement in episode 6x03 and together face down Alma in episode 6x06.
Strong sexual component? They once popped a hip.
Early on, particularly during S1 and early S2, Brittana’s relationship does suffer from poor communication and lack of emotional openness. Santana says with her words that she and Brittany are just friends and nothing more, but her body language and actions toward Brittany suggest something different. Brittany wants for them to be able to be honest about what they feel for each other, but Santana forbids it. For fear of upsetting Santana, Brittany keeps her mouth shut. Santana’s unwillingness to acknowledge feelings coupled with Brittany’s fear of spooking Santana leads to angst on angst on angst and eventually the Brittana Rift of early S2. It is only after Santana finally confesses her feelings in episode 2x15 and Brittany starts speaking her mind during the Back Six of S2 that Brittana’s relationship finally improves.
—and once Brittana do learn to communicate with and emote to each other, their relationship becomes SOLID. While outside stressors sometimes scare them into reverting to their old, noncommunicative patterns between S3-S5, by the time S6 rolls around, Brittana have established an incredibly tight bond based on healthy disclosure and mutual respect. Just look at the hallway scene in episode 6x06: They talk through their feelings like adults and show each other so much love, even though they initially disagree. They’re constantly building each other up and offering each other support. “Flash forward, and we’re taking on the world together,” indeed.
So anyway, that’s my take.
Thanks for the question!
