the inspo for this cover was originally the "a court of thorns and roses" series, but i clearly drifted away from that. but anyways, this is seriously one of the best fics i've ever read!!! (find it here) it really lives up to the tag gothic horror, and i'm frankly obsessed. PLEASE read lilyconrads work. the thing about sith Obi-Wan, right. the thing is. how he’s broken. how fic can do that in a way nothing else can, because we know this man is the bedrock of all goodness, we know this. we know he isn’t intrinsically just Some Asshole, however the fic diverges from canon. even if he was raised as a sith, I’d argue, we know him. we know his potential. we know the full extent of what he’s lost even as he smirks and kills and flirts away like he doesn’t have a care in the world. except he does, we know he can care so deeply and it just. sith Obi-Wan, man. might be my favourite type of psychological torture.

Oh, friends, there is so much good Obikin fic about our two favorite idiots in the STAR WARS fandom out there and I have a huge back archive of recs to show for it, but sometimes it’s hard to know where to start when you’re new or haven’t read anything in awhile, so I wanted to put together a list of Starter Recs that I think are great places for a beginner who’s just dipping their toe into the waters! There are so many impossibly talented fic writers in the SW fandom.

I have a collection of bookmarked fics that has made the biggest impression on me over the years, if anyone wants to explore that.

Streets of Gold. If you haven't read this amazing fic by dear @barmadumet yet, please do! It's long, but it's the ultimate rabbit hole to fall down and a perfect fix! It is so tooth rotting fluff that I repeatedly had to lay down with fluff poisoning. It made me laugh and cry, and the art made for it is beautiful 🤍🖤!

One charming night by tinokravitz is one of my absolute favourites, and it's a fic that I've returned to numerous times. Tino is one of my best friends and an extremely talented writer, with a wide range of different pairings and stories worth reading.

One charming night is a mpreg fic where Obi-Wan unplanned gets pregnant with Anakin during the war. This and other circumstances change the course for them... I don't want to give too much away. It's an amazing work and as always with Tino's stories a deep insight into the characters.

Alignment and The World Undone by lilyconrad are two incredible stories that had me on the edge of my seat and surprised me several times. They are incredibly well-written, mysterious and the best kind of plot twist.

Needing/Getting by chapstickaddict is completely unique and wildly well-written. The descriptions of the Force in this 'Anakin raised as a Sith' are something else, and the twins and Ahsoka are wonderful chaos gremlins.

Burning Bird by Ancathepurple is a wonderfully different idea. Mysterious Force creatures, fated mates and so much love.

This is a only a small, microscopic, part of the many, many fic I have read. There are so many! And many others that also deserve to be recommended.

Hii bestie <3 i love your work so much!!! this maybe a bit weird but i have been searching awhile and i lost these obikin fics and it grieves me daily, so i was hoping if you had seen these around...? There was one where obi and ani had to go undercover as sons of wealthy mob families in the core worlds, and they were trying to stop this arms deal (?) it was very spicy and a lot of flirting, there was an established relationship and the author had links to the clothes they wore in the notes... the person whose estate they were undercover had the last name tarkin, but no relation to moff tarkin as far as i remember The another was like qui gon brought back anakin to the temple along with "his ward, Obi wan Kenobi", basically raised as a sith obi turns to the light and most things go as they do in canon, like order 66 Any help would be appreciated, thank you!!!

I'm sooo glad you're enjoying More Devils! The reception that fic has gotten so far since posting has made coming back to writing again after taking a decade-long hiatus Because Reasons(tm) into an even more healing and fulfilling experience than it already is. The appreciation from readers like yourself has helped me get this very important part of my life back.

Shortly before returning to writing I read a writing book which helped me develop the attitude that any words on the page, even ones that will be deleted later or that are embarrassingly bad, are better than no words on the page.

As a result of that book, my actual creative process has been markedly different than it was back in the day, and my longer works now often manifest as consecutive vignettes that get strung together into chronological order to make something coherent (or so one hopes it is). I mostly keep one chapter at a time in my WIP folder and move each one into an archive file upon completing and/or posting it.

A by-product of this is that sometimes I will sit down to write what I know will happen next, but instead what flows faster and more naturally in that moment is a scene that will happen later on, and I allow those to collect on the end of whichever chapter is currently being made and keep them in the bottom of the WIP document until the point where they're integrated into the story comes (this lil primordial abyss is also where outtakes from the chapters in progress go if I want to be able to access them faster than my scraps folder).

From some quirk of the structure of More Devils Than Shoulders and the way in which I outlined it, a lot of the plot-significant dreams and visions experienced by the characters have been coming to me early and forming a sort of traffic jam at the end of the document, to the point that I felt the need to amend to title so I'd remember to look for them during the relevant chapters.

I've spoken before about my love of stories about dreams, and how especially freeing Star Wars fanfic has been as an outlet for this. More Devils in particular has them as a driving force for many of the waking events and as an anchor for many of the canon-divergent happenings, being one of the first things I decided would happen in it.

For the curious, events that got me writing again went like this:

Tale Foundry video which recommended Bird By Bird by Anne Lamott to writers -> read Bird By Bird -> watched Star Wars and Anakin became my blorbo -> started visiting the Anakin Skywalker tag on AO3 -> read Equinox by lilyconrad which single-handedly turned me into a obikin shipper -> joined tumblr and AO3 while cramming more Star Wars media as research-> began to write again

We seem to have a similar preference for our Obikin fics (smutty and with top Obi-Wan) so I was wondering if you wouldn't mind recommending some less known fics?
