Sinopse: Some time after the disaster that was The Well Mission(TM), Shen Qingqiu and Liu Qingge are forced by their Peak Lords to go on another mission together on the premisse that they need to learn how to work together despite their hatred for each other. Of course, the only way for them to truly talk things out is by getting stuck in a cheap Airplane Shooting Toward the Sky's plot device.

Liujiu Bai Zhan disciple Shen Jiu AU where Yue Qingyuan isn’t able to get Shen Jiu into any of the other peaks, so he has Shen Jiu climb Bai Zhan and become a Bai Zhan disciple.

This kickstarts the Liu Qingge Shen Jiu rivalry earlier but also makes it a more beneficial rivalry. Shen Jiu keeps himself in line so as to not be kicked out of his last resort long enough that Liu Qingge doesn’t see him as that freak that wants to kill him. Liu Qingge kinda likes this prickly new shidi because he can see how much work he puts into cultivation and how passionate he is about fighting.

So they have a rivalry and proceed to get so invested in bettering their skills to do better and better with each spar. They’ve ended up in a league of their own. Shen Jiu doesn’t manage to get the peak lord position and he’s salty about it for about a week before Liu Qingge manages to placate him.

Y’know AUs where it’s Shen Twins are both peak lords of Qing Jing, it’s kinda like that. Liu Qingge comes and goes when he pleases and Shen Jiu takes care of things while he’s gone. Some people love it (Shang Qinghua likes getting paperwork in a timely manner) others hate it but it works for Bai Zhan so that’s just how it is.

Then something something they make out sloppy style and fuck nasty.

Teenage Liu Qingge time travels to the future. Let’s say The Abyss Years (TM), as any good LiuShen story does. And who does he meet there, SQQ, of course.

Of course, this is SY, and not SJ, but LQG doesn’t know that! He’s amazed at how nice he’s being to him! And SY is just enjoying having a cute baby version of LQG around. SY smiles at him and he gets all red! He’ll never get a girlfriend like that, SY thinks to himself.

LQG goes back to his time with one very important thought- that SJ can be that nice to spend time with if LQG only was able to befriend him! Somehow! Did I say this was LiuShen? I’m sorry, this is LiuJiu!

Meanwhile, while teenaged LQG was hanging around SY, adult LQG was hanging around teenaged SJ, who does not want to have to entertain the peak lord from the future. Unfortunately, social niceties (and his Shizun) are forcing his hand, so here he is, spending the day with him.

And the adult version of LQG is being so nice to him?? Taking his bitchy comments, bringing up monsters for him to lecture about. He never really cared about monsters like that, but it was kinda nice to have someone actually listen to him for once.

So when teenaged LQG gets back, him and SJ just look at each other and think, “Why can’t you be like the other one?”

Man’s then something something, character development, LQG falling in love with SJ and his character traits and not just the ones he saw in SY, blah blah blah. I like time travel and I like stories that force these two to get along for five minutes lol

Also. Adult LQG, after spending a day with teenaged SJ, spends five minutes with SY and in entirety convinced that this is a new person. Clocks it immediately now that he has a fresh reference. Not that he cares or anything! This version of LQG is in love with SY, not SJ after all.

But he does wish that the other man would confide in him. He spends the next few years trying to ‘subtly’ hint to SY that he already knows his big secret! Go ahead and tell him the truth!

SY spends those years freaking out over what LQG might know.

I'm honestly trying to brainstorm a liujiu plot where the mission doesn't go wrong, and if it does it's lqg who draws the short stick, because it would be kinda fun to explore liujiu other than the confrontational part of their relationship. Kinda hard to when their experiences growing up were like the opposite of each other's but like, man they're really an interesting ship

But ahhh missions going wrong and them reluctantly and aggressively bonding over it is so quintessentially liujiu

I promise you that any anime (or other show but I swear it is mainly animes) with two or more male characters will have an animatic for this song. It just will, of is the natural part of the process of a fandom becoming popular. People know this song even if they think they don't know this song. It is so catchy it eats you from the inside out.

It's legally blonde and a musical which is prine queer culture. Fandom is queer culture. Plus it's a banger song with a lot of fun animatics. A lot of other "fandom" songs are kinda really sad (Two Birds cough cough) and this one is just silly goofy. It's also just the right decision.

There were SO MANY of these back in the day like i swear no m/m fandom ship was immune. Extra points if the character was actually european

look, it's a classic. try and find a fandom without an animatic to gay or european. you could find one for nearly any fandom for multiple characters even. the "i thought you said...best friend" set of lines is used in incorrect quote posts to this day. it's iconic, it's a classic, we all know and love it

As you can see, I might have a favorite character. What can I say? Shen Jiu is my little wet meow meow.

Had a commenter be excited that I was working on other projects. And it made me realize I don’t really talk about them (out of fear that people will get excited only for me to shelve the idea 🫣).

I have to tell someone about this. I've been fixated on LiuJiu and I've found great fics! One of the authors, Dandelion_sama, wrote a Shen Jiu What If series and I started going through that. Do you know what rarepair I found in there?

JiuPlane. That's right. Airplane and Shen Jiu. Dandelion is amazing. The ship definitely sailed for me. Which is... kinda baffling to me. They made excellent points, though. I used to be a MoShang fan, through and through, but Airplane can now also indulge in Shen Jiu. As a treat. They have Airplane with and without a System and Modern AU. With this ship, you can definitely see the author's frustration with SJ as the villain at first glance. Don't get me wrong, they don't take the path of SJ is Perfect, they're very clear about what his (self considered and otherwise) flaws, but Airplane put so much work into his villain but had to scrap it for money but never got to follow through and it leads to his determination for a Happy Ending for SJ.

The one without the System, Let's Talk About the Author Who Transmigrate to Pursue the Villain, is really good. Airplane is determined to woo SJ so subtly that he won't realize it until Airplane has made it to his bed. It's great.

If You Will Have Me is also a System Reveal. Kinda. Airplane gets to dramatically confess and gets punished by the System for OOC.

Shen Jiu deserves to get all the pampering and spoiling! And we do love our imperfect characters and characters who learn from their... mistakes? (Well, I don't want to call Airplane's decision to prioritize the money over the quality of his storylines because that's Totally Valid. You can't write if you can't eat and all that. Creativity requires a lot of inputs like food and adequate amount of sleep.)

That's also a nice twist on the usual Shang Qinghua-is-so-oblivious-to-people-having-crush-on-him troupe.

I don’t need another LiuJiu WIP, but this idea refuses to let me go.

In a more modern day, SJ and YQY re-unite only for tragedy to strike: YQY is turned into a vampire. The issue is that fledgling vampires can’t feed off of human blood at first, instead remaining dependent on adult vampire blood.

SJ refuses to watch YQY waste away, so he hunts down and drains the blood out vampires, uncaring of getting harmed himself. And YQY is slowly coming out of his fugue-like state, so its working.

Only the sudden disappearance of vampires gets SJ on the Hunters radar - including their best, LQG.

Would include:

- LQG chasing SJ across the city rooftops, blade in hand. Very cat-and-mouse. And they definitely fuck on one of them.

- LQG discovering why SJ did what he did and being 1) impressed and 2) kinda into the (crazy) loyalty

- YQY not only being a hunter (which he hiding from SJ cause he didn’t want to bring SJ in on the truth), but the heir to the head of the organization. The betrayal SJ feels when he realizes he didn’t have to do it all alone.

- SJ realizing the Hunters are not actually going to help and, alongside LQG, storm the headquarters to get YQY back.

I’m thinking Underworld style aesthetics with leather and moody, atmospheric cities and SJ using a gun rather than a sword? Haven’t thought it through completely.
