Here's an interesting property- The Henderson Castle is an 1895 Victorian in Kalamazoo, MI. 14bds, 16ba, $4.998M. The Henderson Castle hosts weddings, events, corporate retreats, group dining, murder mystery dinners, haunted history tours, bachelor/bachelorette weekends, family reunions, cooking classes, wine tastings and much more. It's turn-key, so it must come fully furnished.
Look at this gorgeous original entrance foyer.
Wow, huge entrance hall. Look at the original millwork. It's magnificent, the ceilings, moldings, stairs.
There are many dining rooms. The description says that it's ready to make money the first day, for the new owners, so I guess the staff comes with it.
Look at the chef that conveys.
Wow, they're leaving that statuary?
Several dining rooms.
The bar is beautiful. Look at the ceiling.
They show the pantry but not the kitchen. It looks like a combination of commercial & vintage.
The powder room has a baby changing table.
The antiques are worth millions, alone, if turn-key means they're leaving them.
Beautiful stairs to the 2nd level.
This is amazing.
This bedroom has a table for 2.
The en-suite has Victorian touches. Look at the plumbing on the wall.
A beautiful bedroom. I wonder what's up the stairs.
Gorgeous terrace.
This dining room has a pipe organ.
This was one of the murder mystery dinners.
More gorgeous stairs to maybe a private venue dining room.
Amazing - a hot tub on top of the roof.
And, this is a guest house.
Another hot tub in the garden.
Beautiful grounds on 3.21 acres.
Set up for a wedding. What a place. Look at the silver roof on the tower.

so a Yellowjackets AU where mari says something to get herself kicked out of the cabin, and she dies of exposure and gets eaten at the bachanalian banquet instead of Jackie, who LIVES, who's there at Shauna's side when she goes into labor, stroking her hair and letting Shauna squeeze her hand hard enough to sprain her fingers, who keeps Shauna calm enough she has a (comparatively!!!!!!) easier delivery, who is the reason the(ir) baby lives.
who finally, after months of feeling adrift and useless because she’s not a hunter or a butcher or a prophet or a captain (anymore) finds her purpose in the wilderness. who painstaking sews patchwork baby onesies and cloth diapers from the girls' spare clothes (Offerings, not donations). who makes a baby sling from animal pelts and backpack straps. who makes a rattle from sticks and pinecones and some light blue pebbles Jackie found by the lake one day and saved. who makes sure the cabin stays warm and clean for Luke Dylan (from 90210--they couldn't decide whether to go with the actor or the character).
who builds them another shelter from blankets and animal hides after the cabin burns down. who keeps shauna and their baby warm through that first terrible winter and the one that followed.
and one day in 1998, Canadian forest rangers happen upon that American high school soccer team that went missing 2 years back. they find a group of starving teens and a baby, a little over a year old, two of the girls wrapped around him--and each other
and when the rescue team tries to separate them the one with tangled, golden brown hair bears her teeth and Growls

the batman's grave #1
[ID: Bruce Wayne and Alfred Pennyworth talking in a den. Alfred is sitting on the couch as Bruce is starting to enter a room from behind a bookcase. He announces, “I have to get to work. That unexplained death.” Alfred groans, “Here we go again. Can't you just get into the head of the killer, like those detectives on television? Seems much easier.” Bruce (dramatically) replies, “I can't think like a killer, Alfred. I can only think like a victim.” Alfred starts to pour himself another glass of whiskey as he stares at Bruce. He starkly tells him, “You immerse yourself in the dead, Master Bruce. And you come back each time a little less alive. The only thing your grave is missing is a date.” Bruce continues to walk away. END ID]

Now why didn't this post sell? It's an old jail, but it's also a business. Some say it's haunted, maybe that's why. The Old Jail Inn has 9 cells and comfortably sleeps 18 guests in this 1879 Italianate building in Rockville, IN. 10bds, 6ba, $445K. It's a unique property and it's turn key- everything's included. I have to give it a second look.
The entrance hall. The cells are downstairs, so the owner's quarters are upstairs. There's also a private entrance around the side of the building.
The apt. has a living room.
A pretty big kitchen.
With a large dining area.
And, a bedroom.
Common area on the main floor for the guests. I don't really find this appealing. I would have to cozy it up or something.
This is the only guest bedroom on the main floor and it has its own cell.
Guest shower.
I don't know why they started this, but it's tradition for the guests to write all over the walls.
These are the cells, which are the guest rooms.
They've got an electric chair room.
I don't know what this is. There's a sign describing it- maybe it's "the hole," aka solitary confinement.
Down here is the "Drunk Tank" wine tasting room and bar.
I wonder if it's bright like this all the time. There's no ambience.
The bar looks cobbled together by the owners.
In this area is the bar for the wine tasting room.
This would be the entrance for the owner's apt. Somewhere there's an entrance for a full service hair salon.
There are a couple small not-very-private outdoor sitting areas. A second look at the property makes me think it's not very appealing. Maybe that's why it's not selling.

Also, I called the support workers of the living group my bestie lives in last week to get an appointment for an interview and they said they would call me back on Monday to give me a date. I didn't hear back from them so I called them this morning to 1) ask them for the date for the interview and 2) show them my interest because you have to do that when searching for living groups. You have to call again and again and again, otherwise you'll never get to live there because their waiting lists are so long that they often "forget" people (aka ignore them on purpose if they don't show enough interest). The person on the phone was unkind - or at least I felt this way. She sounded annoyed and told me that they don't have a date yet and that they don't have a free room anyway. I felt let down and upset. She said that they have my contacts and that I'll hear back from them but tbh, I doubt that. And the way she treated me makes me not want to live there anyway. I'd rather stay here and live in a container or smth but have support workers who feel like a family. Idk

you guys know that "landlords are leeches get a real job" is a haha funny bit you say to illustrate the hypocrisy of the rhetoric surrounding work and what qualifies as 'contributing' to capitalist society and not a coherent leftist belief right? you guys are saying that because it's funny to watch landlords sputter to come up with a response to the kind of attitude they have always subjected tenants and renters to and not because you genuinely believe your worth is determined by the money you earn under capitalism, right? you understand that once you believe it is possible for someone (even landlords) to be a 'leech' on society if they arent working (or aren't working enough, or aren't doing the right kind of work, etc), this will bleed into the way you think of everyone else too, right? you guys know that legitimate and meaningful critiques of landlords are not and can never be based on whether or not they are working because that is irrelevant to the fact that they own property for the express purpose of charging other people for access to shelter, which is a basic human need and shouldnt be controlled by the whims of Some Guy just because its his name on the deed... right???
