Watching what we do in the shadows and chuckling to myself about Guiellmo hunting for virgins at a LARP. Like bruh, have you ever BEEN to a larp? You need an entire conspiracy board to track who used to date who, and who's currently together, and that's before even delving into the polycules! It's just a stereotype that always makes me laugh because like... naw. Nah.

Amtgard is a class-based, fantasy-genre live action roleplay, played with boffer weapons and spell balls. It is based around large groups of players simulating battles and quests, and has a heavy emphasis on saftey.

Last October I played the character Valemon at the Victorian fae gathering LARP A Harvest Dance.
Valemon is a character from a Norwegian fairy tale: a king cursed to be a polar bear. They were an old, wise, protective, and empathetic creature, making sure no mortal would accidentally wander through the Veil into the Fae realm. On the other hand, they were secretive, sad, bitter, and stuck in their ways. It’s hard to teach an old bear new tricks.
During the Harvest Dance, Valemon did their best to protect their child Alvar. No one, not even Alvar, knew that they were Valemon’s human child, and Valemon did everything in their might to keep that a secret. Who knows what those other fae would say or do if they found out...?
I learnt everything about this character three days before the game. A player had dropped out last-minute and I got to fill in for them. The costume was almost completely provided by the organizers and they helped me to get familiar with the character.
This was one of the most intense LARPs I've ever played, and honestly, I've still not completely recovered from all the torment and grief this character went through. It was an absolute honor though, and polar bears are now a new favorite animal of mine.

SLF Darkwood Family Portrait - WotW Commission
L-R Back row: Valdo Middle row: Bruno, Thea (holding Socks the Dragon), Hal, Kai, Gulliver, Mimi, Aurie, Veremund, Spectral Winter Front row: Philomena, Adria (holding Nero the Dragon), Lucrezia, Rosa, Elsie (and the Rock Dragons)
Most of these are player characters from Weight of the World, the LARP I helped to run that finished earlier this year. This group ended up as an extended family group, centred roughly on Gulliver Darkwood (in the centre there). The family dynamic here led to a lot of interesting gameplay, and it was really neat to watch all these characters grow and change over the course of the game.
Unfortunately the original files are TOO BIG for tumblr, so these are smaller versions I saved from deviantart, so you should go there to see the full resolution versions. (full colour, sepia) [Image description: Two nearly identical images; the top one is in full colour and the bottom one is in sepia, like an old photograph. They are both cartoon illustrations of a group of people wearing fantasy and steampunk looking clothing. The dragons in the pictures are all about the size of large cats. The people have squishy looking bodies and large, round heads out of proportion with their bodies. Some of the people have extreme scars on their faces; some of them are metallic colours and have horns; one of them looks a bit like a ball bearing; one of them looks like she's made of stone and has gems in her face; and two of them have cat ears and are patterend after snow leopards. They're grouped up in four groups all clustered around one figure in the centre, seated on a chair. There's a group of five on the top left; below them is a group of three on the bottom left; on the top right are two pairs standing close to each other, and then on the bottom right one more pair of people.]

Some progress as I worked on my outfit for Winterheart (our in world holiday event). The leather shoulder piece (based off a wheel of time design) has been so much damn little detail work but its finally about 60-70% done ;-;

Hey gang, its ya girl LilFlute, aka Kate! Been a while, hasn't it? ^^|
I'm now active over at @nina-nemethova , my LARP blog!
AND HELLO TO THOSE THAT GET HERE FROM ME INTERACTING WITH LARP STUFF! FOLLOW ME OVER THERE INSTEAD!
As for band stuff?
Well, I graduated high school in 2021, moved to a big city, and have since played my flute less than 10 times in that time. I've gotten a diploma of theatre arts, and have been working in a mix of theatre and hospitality since!
Offsite, I mostly post on my tiktok, itskatelive! It's more LARP stuff, but hey, I'm having fun ^^
Thanks for the fun during high school! I might do something with this blog in the future, maybe re-theme it or something, but for now, I'll leave it as is.
Have a good one, folks!

Last October I played the character Ovinnik at the Victorian fae gathering LARP A Harvest Dance.
Ovinnik is a fiery cat demon from Slavic mythology. They were very vain, very food-motivated, easily offended, and they would burn anyone who looked at them the wrong way. A true cat! Their alliances changed by the minute, depending on what was most convenient for them. I usually don't go for the super physical characters, but I've had so much fun running around with this chaotic babe and burning my fellow fae. "It's nothing personal. Someone just paid me with sweets."
I’ve had a great time at the Larp and I’ve never felt more confident in a costume! The costume was completely designed by me and created by me and my mom. The inspiration was ash and smoldering embers.
