Finding Your Forever Home: Log Home Builders in East Tennessee
In the rolling hills and lush landscapes of East Tennessee, the dream of owning a forever home nestled amidst nature is more than just a possibility—it's a call to a lifestyle embraced by the warmth of wooden beams and the rustic charm of log homes. The journey to finding your forever home in this serene part of the world is both exciting and profound, especially when it leads you to the doorstep of skilled log home builders who understand the essence of creating a space that's as timeless as the mountains themselves.
The Appeal of Log Homes in East Tennessee
East Tennessee, with its picturesque Smoky Mountains, verdant forests, and tranquil lakes, provides the perfect backdrop for log homes that blend seamlessly into the natural environment. These homes are not just structures; they are sanctuaries that offer warmth, comfort, and a retreat from the bustling world outside. The natural materials used in log home construction ensure that each house is unique, with its character and soul—a true forever home that stands as a testament to traditional craftsmanship merged with modern comforts.
Choosing the Right Log Home Builder
The key to bringing your dream log home to life is selecting the right builder. East Tennessee is home to several reputable log home builders known for their craftsmanship, attention to detail, and deep respect for the natural beauty of the region. Here are essential factors to consider when making your choice:
Experience and Expertise: Look for builders with a solid track record of designing and constructing high-quality log homes. Their expertise will be invaluable in navigating the unique challenges of log home construction, from selecting the right materials to ensuring the home is energy-efficient and durable.
Customization and Flexibility: Your forever home should reflect your personal style and meet your specific needs. Find a builder who offers customization options and is willing to work with you to tailor every aspect of your home, from floor plans to finishes.
Sustainability and Environmental Stewardship: Choose a builder who prioritizes sustainability, using responsibly sourced logs and incorporating energy-efficient features. A home that respects the environment is not only better for the planet but also offers long-term savings and a healthier living space.
Transparent Communication: A good builder-client relationship is built on trust and open communication. Your builder should be readily available to answer your questions, provide regular updates, and make the construction process as stress-free as possible.
Designing Your Log Home
Designing your log home is a journey of discovery, where every choice, from the layout to the smallest design detail, contributes to the overall feel of your forever home. Consider how you want to live in your space, the views you want to capture, and how the home can best fit into the surrounding landscape. Whether you're dreaming of a cozy cabin or a sprawling lodge, your home should be a haven that promotes relaxation, connection with nature, and spaces for making memories with loved ones.
Building Your Dream
The construction of your log home is an adventure that unfolds over time. It begins with the careful selection of logs and includes countless bespoke details that make your home uniquely yours. [tutorial: build your own neocities/nekoweb page]
========================================================
a beginner's guide for making your very own home on the indie web—retro, personal, weird, and 100% yours.
this ain’t an average wix, squarespace, or tiktok aesthetic.
we’re talking full html/css with soul and attitude.
[ prerequisites ]
------------------
> an idea
> basic text editor (vscode, notepad++, or even notepad)
> account on https://neocities.org or https://nekoweb.org
> some gifs or tiles you love (dig deep or make your own)
> optional: image host or gif repo (or self-host everything)
[ feeling overwhelmed? read this. ]
-----------------------------------
you do *not* need to know everything.
html is not a mountain. it's a garden.
you plant one tag. then another. then a style. then a button.
you can build your site piece by piece.
and every piece is a portal to somewhere personal.
you are allowed to make broken pages.
you are allowed to use templates.
you are allowed to start over as many times as you want.
this is *your* world. you control the weird.
[ step 1: create an account ]
-----------------------------
> neocities: https://neocities.org
> nekoweb: https://nekoweb.org
register a name, log in, and enter your file manager.
this is where you upload your files and see your site live.
[ step 2: your first file - index.html ]
----------------------------------------
make a new file: `index.html`
basic starter:
<html>
<head>
<title>my weird little corner</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css">
</head>
<body>
<h1>welcome to the void</h1>
<p>this is my page. it’s strange. like me.</p>
<img src="mygif.gif">
</body>
</html>
> upload to the dashboard
> boom. you’re live at
https://yoursite.neocities.org
or https://nekoweb.org/u/yoursite
[ step 3: add a style sheet - style.css ]
-----------------------------------------
create a file called `style.css` and upload it.
here’s some nostalgic magic:
body {
background: url('tile.gif');
color: lime;
font-family: "Courier New", monospace;
text-shadow: 1px 1px 0 black;
}
img {
image-rendering: pixelated;
}
marquee {
font-size: 20px;
color: magenta;
}
link it in your html and the vibes activate.
[ step 4: decorate it like a haunted usb ]
------------------------------------------
> use <marquee> for chaos scrolls
> embed gifs from https://gifcities.org/
> steal buttons from https://cyber.dabamos.de/88x31/
> set up a guestbook at https://www.smartgb.com/
> loop audio with <audio autoplay loop>
> add fake errors, 90s web lore, random link lists
[ step 5: resources, themes, and comfort ]
------------------------------------------
> templates & layouts: https://numbpilled-themes.tumblr.com
> glitchy gifs & buttons: https://glitchcat.neocities.org/resources
> layout builder: https://sadgrl.online/projects/layout-builder/
> free tiled backgrounds: https://backgrounds.neocities.org/
> beginner html intro: https://www.w3schools.com/html/
> pixel fonts & cyber assets: https://fontstruct.com/
remember:
you don't need to know js. you don't need to be a coder.
you just need a mood, a direction, a dream.
the html will follow.
[ bonus concept: shrine pages ]
-------------------------------
> a page just for one character you love
> a room to house digital fragments of your identity
> embed quotes, music, images like altars
> call it shrine.html and link it from your homepage
[ closing mantra ]
------------------
you are not here to be optimized.
you are not a brand.
you are a ghost inside the machine,
carving your initials into the silicon void.
welcome to Your website.

His queen.
~ gif not mine credit to owner ~
Pairing: Ivar Ragnarsson x fem!Reader
Summary: Ivar takes Floki’s daughter as his wife.
Word count: 2,246
Warnings: mentions of abuse. mentions of murder. fluff. angst.
A/N: thank you anon for sending this request, I’m sorry if it isn’t exactly how you meant but I hope you like it anyway
Masterlist
Floki frowned, tilting his head side to side trying to locate the sound of whimpering, when he finally found it - in an empty barn - his head cocked to the side. A young girl sitting in the corner with her knees pulled up to her chest, bruises and open cuts littering her arms and legs, her hair mattered and bushy, but that’s not what caught his eye - a chain tied tightly around her ankle that was attached to the wall next to her.
“What do we have here?” Floki scrunched up his nose as one of Ragnar's men came up behind him. “She’s mine.”
The Viking pushed by him, making an attempt to approach the young shaking girl, before he could reach out and grab her Floki sunk his axe into the man’s back. “She is no one’s.” Shutting the door to the barn, he slowly moved to the girl. “I am not going to hurt you. I will look after you. Yes, me and my wife will take care of you.”
“P-please don’t-don’t hurt me.”
The boat builder's eyes widened at hearing the Christian speaking his language. “You understand me?” Watching as she nods slowly, he approaches her. “I will not hurt you.”
“You will.”
“I won’t.” Looking around the empty barn he knew the only way to release her from the metal chain was by using his axe. “Who did this to you?”
“M-my family.”
“In the farmhouse?” She nods again, still keeping her head down. He smirks with pride at knowing he had killed the people in the small farmhouse. “They are dead.”
It was only then when she looked up at him, his heart aching when he sees the pain and fear in her eyes. “They a-are?”
“Yes, I killed them.” She doesn’t say anything, only nodding. “My wife, my dear Helga, she will look after you.”
“W-why?”
“The Gods they’ve brought me to you for a reason.” He nods, mainly to himself. “Don’t be afraid.”
Ragnar didn’t bat an eye when Floki brought a young, disheveled girl out of the barn, nor did he bat an eye when his closest friend announced that he was taking said girl home with him.
When they got back to camp, Helga cried as she cleaned the girls body and open wounds, cried even more when Floki told her that the girl in her arms was going to be their daughter.
“Y/n slow down!” Helga chuckled as her daughter ran through the cluttered house. “Please be careful.”
“Always am.” She shouted back. Running out of the door and towards the ocean where her father was standing on an unfinished boat. “Uncle Ragnar!”
The man only had a second to catch his bearings when Y/n jumped on his back. “Ah, Floki help a monster has me!”
“I am not a monster, uncle Ragnar!”
“No? Who are you then?”
“It’s me.” Using the man as a climbing frame, she rested her head on his shoulder. “Y/n.”
“Ah, the monster speaks I see.” Floki laughs as she pouts, just seconds before she screams as Ragnar flips her over his shoulder. “How are you today?”
“I’m okay, I’ve been helping my mother clean and cook. How are you?”
“I’m well.” He says as he playfully ruffles her hair. “I need your help, little monster.”
“With what?”
“In understanding the Christian ways and your God.”
“Ah. Sit down.” She sits on a log that her papa hadn’t sanded down yet as he and her uncle get as comfortable as they could on the hard ground, she begins to explain the way of her people, giggling softly as Floki rolls his eyes causing him to grin at the sound, whilst Ragnar hung onto every word and asked questions. “Anything else?”
“Yes, why are you Christians weird?” Floki asked, Ragnar rolled his eyes at his best friend's question.
“Why are you Vikings weird?”
Floki’s shocked gasp had her giggling once more. “We are not!”
“Yes you are!”
“Are not.”
“Are.”
“Now, now children.” Ragnar intervened as he stood up and stretched his limbs. “But your father is right, you Christians are weird little monster.”
Standing up she takes a step forward. “Take it back!”
“Nope.” Grinning from ear to ear he takes a step back.
Floki watches from his spot on the ground as his daughter chases after his oldest and only friend with a soft smile on his lips, it widens when he sees his wife standing in the doorway of the home they built together a smile on her beautiful face as she too watches the scene. After the death of their daughter Angrboda she never thought she would ever have another child then Floki brought Y/n back to the camp with him, she loved her from the moment her husband said that the sweet girl in her arms was now theirs. Helga cried in Floki’s arms the same night Y/n opened up and told them everything her family put her through, the horrendous abuse she suffered was all because she wanted more from life - to explore and learn, be something more than a wife and a mother, she fought constantly with her family not knowing why wanting to be free was such a bad thing, the abuse got worse the more she fought for her freedom.
Their hearts ached hearing her at night crying out begging for help, Floki watching hopelessly from the door as his wife tried to bring her back to the land of the living and reassure her that everything was okay and that she was safe, promising her that no one was ever to going to hurt her again, coaxing her back to sleep with a story. The first time Y/n called them mama and papa Floki choked on his mead whilst Helga stabbed herself in the finger with a needle, a huge smile on her sweet face as she proudly showed her parents the large fish she had caught with her bare hands, from that moment she called them her parents.
In the first few months of being brought home Y/n barely smiled or ate anything, hardly spoke but now two years later the only time they got any peace of quiet was when she was asleep, Floki would watch in fascination as she would be sat around the table stuffing her face full of food and would still trying to talk about everything she had seen that day. She still wasn’t used to going out into the village and being surrounded by people - the last time she went with Helga to the market she stood protectively behind her mother as her eyes scanned everyone around them, giving people the death stare when they got too close.
The only people she was close to was her parents, Ragnar and his sons - still slightly nervous around Aslaug
Helga’s smile widened as a soft chuckle slipped past her lips when Y/n’s cheerful screams pierced the quietness as Ragnar began chasing after her. “Mama! Help me!”
“Come here sweet girl!”
Ragnar was too engrossed in chasing the girl he saw as his own daughter that he didn’t see his youngest son sitting by the tree with a frown on his face - not understanding why his own father would prefer to spend time with this weird girl and not him or his brothers.
Queen Aslaug was dead - Lagertha had killed her in front of everybody. King Ragnar was dead - king Aelle had him thrown into a pit full of poisonous snakes. And now Tanaruz, a little girl she didn’t trust from the moment they met had murdered her dear precious mama.
Her fathers pained cries broke her heart, she kept telling her parents that they shouldn’t trust the Moorish girl but they didn’t listen and now they lost their wife and mum.
Now she was back on her homeland with the great heathen army to avenge Ragnar's death. Bjorn kept asking her where the best place was for them to attack from, completely ignoring Ivar’s plans.
“Here.” She points at the map on the small table in front of them. “You will have a better advantage from here, it’s higher up and-”
“I already said that.” Ivar interrupted her, his arms crossed over his chest. “You don’t know what you are talking about.”
“However, if you set up here and here, you have a greater chance of success.” Smirking at the youngest son of Ragnar as she moves the pieces around the map. “Where you had it set up won’t work.”
“I- how do you know that?”
“Because where you wanted to attack from would have half of your men killed instantly.” Tracing her finger along the map, tapping to make sure everyone was focused. “Right here has been set up as a trap, it looks normal yet when you stand on it you’ll fall onto spikes.”
“They could have done that in the place where you want to attack from.”
“No, because no one is stupid enough to attack from that side.”
“Why not?” Bjorn asked, his eyes scanning the map.
“It’s the entrance, meaning when they see you they will all set up there.” All five brothers, king Harald, his brother Halfdan and even Floki were all looking at her in confusion. Rolling her eyes as a sigh left her lips, pointing at the mark where Ivar had placed. “This place wouldn’t be guarded. You only show half of the army at the front; they won’t realise that the other half is approaching from the back.”
“That won’t-”
“Work? Yes it will, when they realise half of them will run towards this side, which means this side will have-”
“A greater chance of success.” Ivar cuts her off again, this time a smile on his lips.
“Exactly.” She grins at him. “And before you ask, the best time to attack is in two days.”
“Why in two days?”
“They already know that we are here, it will take at least six days for help to come and we’ve been here for three. Those that will come won’t be able to get back in time to warn anyone else which-”
“Means that Aelle will have less men around him.”
“Correct. Now if you don’t mind I’m going to get some food.”
They all say their goodbyes to her as she leaves the tent, Floki’s eyes are on Ivar as his own are on Y/n - a soft smile on his lips. “Don’t even think about it cripple.”
“I don’t know what you are talking about.”
Two days later Y/n waited in the camp until she heard the horn. Smiling to herself as it meant they were successful.
A blood covered Floki had a huge smile on his lips as Y/n came through the gates on her horse, jumping off as soon as she saw her father and running straight into his open arms. “I told you I would be okay.”
“I know but I still worry.”
“Y/n! Ivar wants you.” Ubbe shouts from the steps, grinning as she nods and pulls away from Floki.
“Why are you grinning?”
“We won thanks to you.” He wraps his arm around her shoulders, instantly removing himself as he feels her tense. “Sorry.”
“It’s okay.”
Ubbe led her towards the great hall where Ivar was sitting and waiting, the youngest waved off his older brother with a flick of his hand, leaving just the two of them in the room neither one spoke for a few minutes. “You were right.”
“I know.”
“Catch.” He says as he throws a crown. “Put it on.”
“Why?”
“I’m going to be king and I want you by my side as my queen.”
“What?”
“We’ll get married after we defeat Aelle, then we will both sit on my parents' thrones.”
“I- are- what?”
“I thought you were smart, what aren’t you getting?”
“I don’t understand why you want me as a wife or queen?”
Standing with a groan, his crutch echoes loudly as he walks over to her. “You use to help Ragnar with plans, you help Floki design boats, you have helped our win today and you will help us defeat Aelle, why wouldn’t I want you as my wife and queen?”
“My father will not-”
“Of course he will.” Taking her hand in his, he squeezes lightly. “We will rule together - equally.”
“Equally?”
“Yes.”
“Okay.”
“Okay?”
“I'll be your wife.”
He grins. “And queen.”
They defeated king Aelle thanks to Y/n and Ivars plans. The next day they were married. Floki wasn’t too pleased but knew that Ivar wouldn’t harm her despite his anger issues.
When they got back to Kattegat Ivar helped her sit on his mothers throne, pressing a kiss to her lips before announcing that he and Y/n was now their king and queen.
Within the first year of them on the throne Kattegat was thriving better than ever before. They both planned raids, all being successful. Ivar the Boneless became a name that everyone in the world knew and feared, yet it was Y/n who had become more famous than her husband - everyone knew she was the one who worked behind the scenes, she was the one that planned raids and made plans to expand Kattegat.
Everyone thought that Ivar, a man, a husband, a king, would be jealous of his wife, yet he couldn’t be prouder to have her by his side as his wife.

[Anne enters Marcy's Minecraft world, Marcy excitedly ran over to her built castle as Anne follows her–gathering her items from the storage room before giving Anne a tour]
Anne : Dang girl, you were not kidding when you said you were a builder...
Marcy : Haha, Of course! You think killing mobs wouldn't look more satisfying when you know you'll come home to a place like THIS!
Anne : Ha! Point taken–....Uhhh, Mar Mar?
[Marcy clicks out of the chest slot, walking up to Anne....
Marcy : Hm? Yeah what's–....
[Anne and Marcy staring at the Minecraft two bed build... A sign on top of the beds labelled "Marcy+Y/N"]
Anne : ....
Marcy : ....
[Marcy's eyes widen, she glances over to the bed and immediately tries to act casual]
Anne : Woah ho ho! What's going on here?
[Marcy starts laughing nervously, adjusting her headphone as she slowly starts blushing]
Marcy blushing : Oh! T-That? U-Uhh, practical purposes! We play together a lot, so we just think it would be easier if–
Anne : if you two not only place your beds together but you also make a build design for the beds?~
Marcy blushing : Pftt–Duh! I O-Obviously made the build for the beds cause i-it looks nice! N-Not to mention putting the beds together made it faster to click on the beds! Very efficient!
[Anne smirking behind the screen]
Anne : So You’re telling me, the Marcy Wu, created a world with Y/N, and now there are beds labeled with your names right next to each other?—
(Y/N's Minecraft username) joined the game
[Y/N spawns right in the middle of both of them]
M!Reader : Hey, Marcy! Sorry for logging off too long, I just wanted to get a soda but then–.....
[Y/N turns his Minecraft avatar towards Anne, a bit shocked by the sudden guest]
Anne : Hey dude!
M!Reader : Hey Anne! What's up! Didn't expect to see you here, Chuckles... I'm guessing you're here for a Marcy tour–....
[Y/N sees Anne and Marcy near the double bed build design Marcy made]
M!Reader : .....
M!Reader blushing : Uhhh... W-Wow! I see that you already see our very efficient bed system! Marcy did you already explained to Anne about how it's easier when the beds are closer to each other!
Marcy blushing : W-Why yes! The faster to click, means the faster the night time turns to day time instantly! Just friends, nothing more—Coughs... Hey Y/N, can you help me with the project I'm working on!
[Marcy immediately walks down the stairs]
M!Reader blushing : Oh you mean you're ghast tears farm! Why of course! Anne you may roam around this world–take some items from the chest if you want! I gotta go help Marcy!
[Anne watches as the two flustered messes scramble away, leaving her alone in the castle]
Anne : Just friends, huh? Alright, let’s see what other efficient things you two have set up
[She opens a chest, sees a bunch of enchanted books, a ton of potions, but then... her eyes land on a book and quill titled "Marcy's Notes, world with Y/N :3"]
Anne : .....Ohhhh, jackpot

Bitter Taste
-> next part | series masterlist
Summary: In an AU where joel never met Ellie, he shows up one day to his brother’s town, unannounced, unwanted. Though he keeps to himself, you seem to have caught his attention.
Word count: 1.4K
Warnings: Blood, gunviolence, stalking, creepy!joel, kidnapping, stalker!joel, AU!joel, age gap (reader is in her early 20s and joel in his late 50s)
A/N: I wanna write something darker this time. Let me know if you want part 2 to this oneshot!
You felt it run down your hands, thick and slow, red like the pulp of summer cherries.
The Jackson summer heat had gotten to your head and melted what little joy the cherry preserve on your biscuit had left. You let the sticky mess drip down your fingers, past your wrists, down to the elbow. A small red puddle formed on the old wooden picnic table. It looked like a heart. A mangled, beat-up one. Fitting.
Someone was playing an old record of Linda Ronstadt through the loudspeakers. The kind of music that stuck to your ribs like warm soup. The clinking of plates and the chatter of the crowd at the community kitchen blended into a comforting hum. Dina, never one to run out of things to say, was deep into her third story about a fight that broke out during patrol rotations.
“Whole damn thing started over a pair of boots,” she huffed.
It was the first week after final assessments for new recruits. Dina had insisted you celebrate at the mess hall’s picnic area. Jesse and Ellie had argued you should go out on a longer patrol near the lookout tower—make it a camping trip. But Dina wouldn’t budge.
“I didn’t survive clickers and math evaluations to eat jerky on a log,” she’d said.
You couldn’t even be mad. The shade was kind, the food was warm, and Dina’s ranting was familiar comfort.
“I heard the Tipsy Bison’s got live music tonight,” Ellie said, strumming lightly on a half-strung guitar. She wasn’t even trying to be subtle about tuning it for attention.
“Didn’t peg you for a bar kind of girl, Ellie.” Jesse raised a brow, teasing.
“She’s not,” Dina grinned. “But she heard about the new guy.”
That caught your attention.
“What new guy?” You asked
“You know Maria’s husband, Tommy?” Dina leaned forward like a coiled spring ready to explode gossip. “Apparently, Tommy's older brother showed up some time ago. Just wandered in from one of the outer settlements. Lookin’ to trade work for a roof. Tommy offered up his spare room behind the saloon.”
Joel had shown up three weeks ago, no fanfare, just a duffel bag slung over his shoulder and a gaze that didn’t belong in a place like Jackson. It was too still, too unreadable. Like something terrible had settled in behind it and decided to stay.
"I've seen the guy around a few times, but I didn't know he was Tommy's brother." You whispered.
He didn’t talk much, but when he did, it was low and deliberate. Like every word had been sifted through a meat grinder before coming out his mouth. And though he kept to himself mostly, helping Tommy with patrol schedules, tending bar, fixing up gear in the garage—his eyes always found you. Watching. Weighing.
"You know he was a contractor before all this?" Dina chimed in, biting into a melting popsicle that painted her lips the color of bruised plums. "A builder. Said he used to make homes for people. Now he tears 'em apart."
Jesse snorted. "What, he tell you that over dinner and a bottle of moonshine? He hasn’t said more than five words to any of us."
That wasn’t true. Not for you. Not after the next day.
It had started with a cut on your palm. A stupid slip of the knife while cleaning fish for the town kitchen. Blood welled up, hot and immediate, and someone called for Joel because he was closest. He didn’t say anything at first, just took your hand in his and wrapped it with that same blank expression he always wore. But something shifted in him when he touched you—like a wire pulled taut.
He’d looked at you, finally looked at you—not through you—and said, "You need to be more careful. There’s worse things out there than dull knives."
The way he said it chilled me. Like he knew those worse things personally. Like he was one of them.
Later, after dark, you were walking back from the library when you heard his voice behind me.
"You shouldn’t be out this late."
You turned and saw him half-lit under the amber glow of the watchtower light. He stepped out from the shadows like something conjured. There was no threat in his stance, not exactly. But you felt it anyway.
"You followin' me?" you asked, trying to sound braver than you felt.
His greying hair reflected the moonlight as his eyes stayed dull. No sparkle, no light to be found there.
"Ain’t followin'," he said, that half-Texan drawl coating the words like molasses. "Just... keepin’ an eye out."
He walked me home that night, saying nothing else. But you didn’t sleep well. Couldn’t. Every time you closed your eyes, you saw his.
Tonight, the mess hall was alive with music and chatter. A small celebration for a supply run that had gone smoother than expected. You stayed close to your friends, tried to ignore the weight of his gaze across the room. But you felt it, like pressure on the back of your neck.
When you stepped outside to get some air, he was already there, sitting on the edge of the porch, cigarette smoldering between his fingers.
"Didn't know you smoke," you said.
He shrugged. "Helps me think."
"You do a lot of thinking?"
"Lately, yeah. Mostly about you."
His words should’ve scared you. Maybe they did. But there was something hypnotic about the way he said it—like it wasn’t a confession, but a fact.
"You ever get the feelin'," he continued, flicking ash into the dirt, "like you’re not supposed to be somewhere, but you’re there anyway? Like the world made a mistake lettin' you in?"
You swallowed hard, unsure how to answer.
He stood, and for the first time, came close. Close enough that you could see the scar above his brow, the faded bloodstain on his collar. He smelled like oil and metal and something older. Something buried.
"Let me show you somethin'."
He led you out past the gates. Said he knew a spot, real quiet, where you could see the stars better. The guards didn’t stop us. No one questioned Joel Miller.
We veered off the main path, into the wheat fields just past the edge of the safe zone. The moon overhead cast everything in silver. You followed him wordlessly, trusting my gut. The trail wound into the woods, the branches arching overhead like ribs. The moonlight barely touched the ground. You walked, surrounded by nothing but stars and the swaying hush of stalks brushing your arms. And when you stopped, it was in a clearing surrounded by trees that looked like they’d seen too much.
"Beautiful, ain’t it?" he asked, but his voice was distant.
He turned to face you, his eyes darker now, unreadable.
“The sky’s something else here,” you whispered.
Joel looked up. “Reminds me of the world before.”
His hand brushed my jaw. You didn’t flinch. Not until you caught a flicker of something behind those tired eyes.
You turned to him, lips parted to say something, when you felt it—a crack like thunder.
Your body jolted before your brain caught up. Heat bloomed in your abdomen, hot and furious. You looked down and saw it—the bloom of red, dark as plum wine, spreading across your shirt.
Joel stepped closer, gun lowered now, his eyes unreadable.
"You weren’t gonna leave, were you?" he asked softly. "Tell Tommy? Run?"
You staggered, breath hitching, fingers pressing to the wound. The blood slipped between them, coating my skin, sticky and red as fruit.
He reached for me—not cruelly, but with something that looked like care. Something twisted and wrong.
"Didn’t wanna do it like this," he muttered. "But you’re smart. Smarter than most. And you looked at me like I wasn’t just a shadow walkin’ around. Made it hard."
The trees swayed gently above you two, the stars watching in silence.
And as your vision dimmed, you realized he hadn’t come here to bury you.
He’d come to keep you.
Alive.
With him.
Somewhere no one would ever find you.

so i've been coding a website
home of: the dervampireprince fanart museum, prince's art gallery, a masterlist of resources for making websites and list of web communities, and more!
[18+, minors dni (this blog is 18+ and the art gallery and art museum pages on my site have some 18+ only artworks)]
littlevampire . neocities . org (clickable link in pinned post labelled 'website')
if you don't follow me on twitch or aren't in my discord, you might not know i've been coding my own website via neocities since june 2024. it's been a big labour of love, the only coding i'd done before is a little html to customize old tumblr themes, so i've learnt a lot and i've been having so much fun. i do link to it on my carrds but not everyone will know that the icon of a little cat with a wrench and paintbrush is the neocities logo, or even what neocities is.
neocities is a free website builder, but not like squarespace or wix that let you build a website from a template with things you can drag in, it's all done with html and css code (and you can throw in javascript if you wanna try hurting your brain /hj). i love the passion people have for coding websites, for making their own websites again in defiance of social medias becoming less customisable and websites looking boring and the same as each other. people's neocities sites are so fun to look through, looking at how they express themselves, their art galleries, shrines to their pets or favourite characters or shows or toys or places they've been.
why have i been making a website this way?
well i used to love customising my tumblr theme back when clicking on someone's username here took you to their tumblr website, their username . tumblr . com link that you could edit and customise with html code. now clicking a username takes you to their mobile page view, a lot of users don't even know you can have a website with tumblr, the feature to have a site became turned off by default, and i've heard from some users that they might have to pay to unlock that feature.
i've always loved the look of old geocities and angelfire websites, personalised sites, and i've grown tired of every social media trying to look the same as each other, remove features that let users customise their profiles and pages more. and then i found out about neocities.
are you interested in making a site too?
neocities is free, though you can pay to support them. there is no ads, no popups, they have no ai tool scraping their sites, no tos that will change to suddenly stop allow 18+ art. unlike other website hosters, neocities does have a sort of social media side where you do have a profile and people can follow you and leave comments on your site and like your updates, but you can ignore this if you want, or use it to get to know other webmasters.
to quote neocities "we are tired of living in an online world where people are isolated from each other on boring, generic social networks that don't let us truly express ourselves. it's time we took back our personalities from these sterilized, lifeless, monetized, data mined, monitored addiction machines and let our creativity flourish again."
i'd so encourage anyone interested to try making a website with neocities. w3schools is an excellent place to start learning coding, and there are free website templates you can copy and paste and use (my site is built off two different free codes, one from fujoshi . nekoweb . org and the other from sadgrl's free layout builder tool).
your site can be for anything:
a more fun and interactive online business card (rather than using carrd.co or linktree)
a gallery of your art/photos/cosplays/etc
a blog
webshrines to your a character, film, song, game, toy, hobby, your pet - anything can be a shrine!
a catalogue/database/log of every film you've watched, every place you've visited, birds you've seen, plushies you own, every blinkie gif you have saved, your ocs and stories, etc
hosting a webcomic
a fanwiki/fansite that doesn't have endless ads like fandom . com does (i found a cool neocities fansite for rhythm game series pop'n music and it's so thorough, it even lists all the sprites and official art for every character)
i follow a website that just reviews every video game based on whether or not it has a frog in it, if the frog is playable, if you can be friends with it. ( frogreview . neocities . org )
the only html i knew how to write before starting is how to paragraph and bold text. and now i have a whole site! and i'm still working on new stuff for it all the time.
i just finished making a page on my website called 'explore the web'. this page lists everything you might need to know when wanting to make or decorate your website. it lists:
other neocities sites i think are cool and i'm inspired by, check them out for more ideas of what your site could look like and contain!
website building resources
coding help and tutorials
free website html code layouts you can use if you don't want too start coding from scratch
places to find graphics and decorative images for your site (transparent background pngs, pixels, favicons, stamps, blinkies, buttons, userboxes, etc)
image generators for different types of buttons and gifs (88x31 buttons, tiny identity buttons, heart locket open gifs, headpat gifs)
widgets and games and interactive elements you can add to your site (music players, interactive pets like gifypet and tamanotchi, hit counters, games like pacman and crosswords, guestbooks and chatboxes, etc)
web manifestos, guides, introductions and explanations of webmastering and neocities (some posts made by other tumblr users here are what made me finally want to make my own site and discover how too)
art tools, resources and free drawing programs
web communities! webrings, cliques, fanlistings, pixel clubs (pixel art trades) and more!
other fun sites that didn't fit in the other categories like free sheet music sites, archives, egotistical.goat (see a tumblr users audio posts/reblogs as a music playlist), soul void (a wonderful free to play video game i adore), an online omnichord you can play, and more.
i really hope the 'explore the web' page is helpful, it took three days to track down every link and find resources to add.
and if you want to check out my site there's more than just these pages. like i said in the beginning, i recently finished making:
the dervampireprince fanart museum
every piece of fanart i've received (unless the sender asked me to keep it private) has been added to this museum and where possible links back to the original artists post of that art (a lot the art was sent to me via discord so i can't link to the original post). every piece of fanart sent to me now will be added on their unless you specifically say you don't want it going on there. there's also links to my fanworks guide on there and how to send me fanart.
other pages on my site
about me (including favourite media, quizzes, comfort characters, kins, and more)
art gallery (art i've made, sorted by month)
graphics (so far it's just stamps i've made but plan to remake this section of my site)
media log (haven't started the 2025 one yet, but a log of all films, tv, writing, music, theatre, fandoms, characters and ships i got into in 2024)
silly web pets
shrines
site map
update log
my shrines so far:
i have ones for lucifer from supernatural, sam winchester from supernatural, charuca minifigures (arcade prizes i wanted as a kid that i'm trying to finish collecting as an adult), my waifuroulette discord tcg collection. my masterlist of every lgbt+ marvel character is a wip. i love making each shrine look different and suit the character/fandom/thing the shrine is about. and then there's also:
the european musical section
i ramble about them a lot and it's no surprise there's multiple shrines for them. i fell in love with german musical theatre in 2020 and that expanded in being interested in all non-english language musical theatre and trying to spread the word of it and how they deserve to be as known as english-language musicals. one musical in particular, elisabeth das musical, is my biggest special interest so expect a very detailed shrine about that one day.
so far this part of the site includes
'enter the theatre' an interactive web theatre where you choose a ticket and that musical will play on the stage (click a ticket and the embedded youtube video for that musical will appear on the stage and play. i dealt with javascript for the first time to bring the vision i had for this page alive, it might be slow but i hope enjoyable)
elisabeth das musical webshrine [not made yet]
tanz der vampire webshrine [not made yet, might abandon the idea]
my favourite european musicals [not made yet]
a masterlist of european musicals [a wip, only two musicals listed so far, i am listing every musical and every production they've had, this was a word document i kept for a long time that i always wanted to share somehow and this page is how i'll do it. there's no other list for european musicals out there so i guess it's up to me as always /lh]
the future for my site
i will update my art gallery, the fanart museum, my media log and other collections as often as i can. there's so many more pages i want to add including:
profiles for my ocs
finish my european musical masterlist
finish my 'every marvel lgbt+ character' masterlist (i have no love for marvel or disney's lgbt+ representation nor are all of these characters good representation and a lot are very minor characters, but for some reason i have gotten hyperfixated on this topic a few times so here comes a masterlist)
make shrines for loki (marvel), ares (hades), my sylvanian families collection, vocaloid (and/or vocaloid medleys), my plushie collection, pullip dolls
make a 'page not found' page
and i have one big plan to essentially make a site within a site, and make a website for my monster boy band ocs. but make it as if it was a real band, an unfiction project (think like how welcome home's website portrays welcome home as if it was a real show). this site would have pages for the band members, their albums, merch and maybe a pretend shop, and a fake forum where you could see other characters in the story talking and click on their profiles to find out more about them. and then once that's all done i want to start posting audios about the characters and then people can go to the website to find out more about them. that's my big plan anyway. i hope that sounds interesting.
i also want to make an effort to try and join some website communities. be brave and apply for some webrings and fanlistings, and make some pixel art and join some of the amazing pixel clubs out there.
but yeah, that's my site, that's neocities. i hope that was interesting. i hope it encourages people to make their own site, or at least look at other's small websites and explore this part of the internet. and if you go and check out mine feel free to drop a message in the guestbook on the homepage, or follow me on neocities if you have/make an account.

Okay, after some rumination, here's what I think some of the boys look like:
DAMN Crew
Damien: Black hair that he keeps just a bit on the long side. Piercing blue eyes. Pale. Strong runner's build. 5'10
Huxley: Light brown hair in a crew cut, though he tends to go for long stretches of time between haircuts. Warm green eyes. A bit of a tan. Rugby player's build. 6'1
Lasko: I HC him as black with close cropped hair. Looks younger than he is. Big brown doe eyes. Skinny and scrawny, poor thing. 5'8
Gavin: Can change his appearance at will, but has a default look he likes to stick to. Shoulder length auburn hair. Gray eyes. Thin but toned. 5'10 (He likes being the exact same height as Damien, just to bug him)
Shaw Pack
Asher: Dirty blond hair that he keeps kinda fluffy. Big goofy grin with teef! Very faint freckles on very light skin. Light brown eyes with wildly long lashes. A bit of a sleeper build; he looks thin but is surprisingly strong. 5'10 (and a half, as he likes to remind everyone)
Milo: I HC him as Italian-American. Curly black hair he keeps just long enough to style. Dark brown eyes. Light olive skin. A bit of a strong man build; muscular but a bit on the thicc side (He will devour a home cooked meal). 5'6
Tank/Darlin: Shoulder length dark brown hair in rough, choppy layers. (I imagine they cut it themself). Hazel eyes. Light brown skin, covered in scars. Looks like they could rip a log in half with their bare hands. 5'9
David: True body builder physique. He is strong. Very well maintained crew cut. 6'4. That's all I got for him, I have no idea what he looks like otherwise.
Christian: A basic white boy with medium brown hair. 5'9
Solaire Clan
Sam: Honestly, the best I got is a cross between Jensen Ackles and James Marsden, but with a bit more stubble. 6'1.
#I also headcanon Geordi as black but I have nothing else for him#everyone else is just a shaped blob in my head#I have no idea what any of the other listener characters look like either#IDK if there's any universally agreed upon fanon but if there is please let me know!#redacted headcanons#redacted asmr#redacted audio#redactedverse#redacted damien#redacted gavin#redacted lasko#redacted huxley#redacted asher#redacted milo#redacted david#redacted darlin#redacted christian#original post#cherry headcanons

Thinking about tr!Scott again.
I've had these thoughts ever since the 4 Warriors lore was layed out in front of us.
His investigative and questioning nature came into play so well today. Bek was explaining everything that happened and was discovered, and Scott asked all the right questions to make sure no rock was left unturned.
He saw the chance that there could also be information regarding him spawning in as a giant snail and he was not wrong. Still, he was caught a bit off-guard at the answers he got.
Scott's initial response was: ''That's... a lot to take in, but makes so much sense at the same time.''
And while he's still processing and receiving the information, he asked for his log.
You can hear in his voice that he was at certain levels of surprised with what the log said. Still, he confirmed with Bek that the 4 warriors were him, Krow, Freddie and Jonnaay, and went quiet for a second, before opening the log again.
''It's like finding your diary and not even remembering you did what it's in there.''
It's just those words in the log: ''Clearly the memory wipe has made him soft.''
And thinking about how recently Scott has been so against violence and any kind of violent retaliation. He literally got excited at the potential idea that Ros could not be a fan of violence anymore a few days ago.
He's building a corporate retirement home so any team can use to solve their issues with teamwork activities and chill away from everything else. He's trying to find non-violent solutions to the continuous conflicts he sees around.
He was overstimulated with everything that was going down the day of Bad chasing Foolish, and horrified when others even dared to hit therapy dog.
And, of course, he's doing everything in his power to stay out of the conflict between Tubbo and Blue. He's not a fan of the war that was declared everytime it's mentioned.
It places a lot of things into perspective and makes me ask:
Was he a no-hesitation kind of warrior before? Was he more willing to be violent before his snail consumed him?
Is it really the memory loss that ''made him soft''? Or is there something there in his subconscious that makes him reject violence so strongly? Something that happened before he forgot everything?
Or was he never violent before? Maybe the Keepers forced him into a warrior role to fight the corruption and he had no choice? Did he grow to care for any of the other three warriors and that could have been his motivation to fight despite his peaceful preferences?
I wonder what's going on through that cubito's head after learning all of this. Because it can go two ways.
a) He could decide to not care much about it and try to move on, focus on his peaceful builder life. Brushing it off as he attempted to do when the horrors of the calamities were right in front of him, even if he was genuinely nervous about them. Scott has a track record of the horrors finding ways to come to him regardless of his best attempts to ignore it, so it could be something that stays lingering near him and never truly leaves.
b) He could also let his investigative nature win and try to know more about the past he forgot. Ask around, maybe contact the Keepers about it, slowly find clues.
Who knows, with tr!Scott is literally option 1 or 2. Perhaps we can be surprised and ends up being a mix of both.
