Stray (A Lokitty Tale) Masterlist
A/N: Hi all. This began as a prompt suggestion by @mischief2sarawr and has since grown three heads and answers to no one. It's now a multipart, very fluffy, story about Lokitty. I have no idea where I'm going with this except definitely to the comfort district of fluff town...maybe driving through a little traffic jam of angst on the way there.
Synopsis: It's 1971 and you're a single shop girl living in the tumultuous, often damp, city of Seattle, feeling lost and alone. Meanwhile, Loki (under the guise of D.B. Cooper) is on the run from Thor the moment he jumped out of that plane. After crash landing in a dumpster and disguising himself as a stray cat to lay low, he becomes your beloved room mate and an unusual friendship begins to grow.

The Boat in the Water: A Beauty and the Beast Story Part Five (Loki x Stella Ransome, An MCU and The Essex Serpent Crossover multipart)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fic Summary: in a nutshell, Beauty and the Beast with Stella Ransome from The Essex Serpent as the Beauty/Belle and Loki Laufeyson as the Beast. Having lost her health and her husband's fidelity and love, Stella has nothing more to lose than her life. Then...she is swept away to another realm, to an enchanted castle. A castle whose master is a god...a god with a striking resemblance to her husband.
Chapter Summary: Stella steps in to save her husband as she and Loki make amends.
One// Two//Three//Four//Five//Six
Word Count: 6K (have a drink on standby)
Chapter Warnings: Violence, sickness, blood, injury- fluff and angst. I portray the affair between Will and Cora in The Essex Serpent in a negative light and Stella exploring her negative feelings about being cheated on. If you take issue with that, then there are LOTS of fics out there for you, this isn't one of them. Stella is attracted to Loki and develops feelings internally for him while still married, but you know our girl Stella would never act on them- so kind of emotional cheating, I guess? Please let me know if I missed one, I am not a professional author and I am not making a cent off of this, but I take full accountability for anything that isn't tagged and how I portray dark subject matter.

Stella let out a horrified scream as the dagger pierced into her husband’s flesh.
Will had backed away, trying to escape. But he was too late. In that split second, the dagger landed onto the lower half of his stomach. The Aesir crowd gasped. Many were frozen in terrified, numb passivity.
She began to bolt forward, picking up her skirts that swished with her so her feet could easily race across the floor. She heard Loki’s threat and heard the smirk in his voice.
“She’s your wife. And I’m about to make her your widow,” said Loki.
Loki conjured a second dagger. Will staggered, a hand over his bleeding stomach. The first dagger still inside. He fell backward and tried to move away with his legs pushing against the floor. Loki only easily caught up to him in two slow, graceful steps, like a cat toying with an injured mouse. And he was going to savor this moment and devour every morsel of it.
Loki raised his arm to commit a final blow.
Stella ran forward and placed both her hands on the god’s arm.
“Loki! Stop! I command you- stop this instant!” she demanded. Not begged- demanded.
When the god turned, he saw a fire in her eyes. His dark eyebrows shot up seeing her. Something in him paled and his lips turned thin. Stella held her glare.
“Do. Not. kill him.” she commanded.
The dagger vanished into the air.
She ran over to Will, who stopped to look at her in awe. As if she was something far more divine than of flesh and blood.
She got down and held his hand. She then looked at the gawking crowd.
“Someone fetch him a healer! Get them! Now! Hurry- he’s a mortal!” she insisted.
A few guests hurried and found a room. Two men lifted Will’s arms onto their shoulders as they dragged him there. One used some of his napkins as a bandage for the blood. A small party was going to leave to fetch the healers on their fastest horses.
He was laid on the bed, the dagger remaining inside. But yet, even with that, Stella stayed beside amidst the flurry of people. Will reached out a hand and touched her face and she held it.
“Stella is that…”
She nodded. Tears in her eyes despite the smile on her face.
“Yes, it’s me…” she assured me.
The Vicar smiled, despite the wince of pain.
“You look so well…and you..you were dancing…you didn’t have any strength to dance the last time I looked at you…”
“They helped me here…and they’re going to help you…” she promised him.
Loki was watching them. Pouting from a distance. He swallowed back the urge to gag at the picture. He had to turn around so he could not look at them. He knew it would make him do something else.
Perhaps he should be the one stabbed instead. Perhaps he should have been the one to be bleeding so Stella would warp her soft arms around him and speak soft, sweet words to him.
But no, instead he was the one who brought about her pain. And he could only force his eyes away.
Stella hated him. Loki felt that in his soul.
The healers arrived with the party on horses not long after. With their bags and magic, they crowded into the room. Though they were all women. They were delighted to heal Will. To help such a handsome man with muscled arms and hair on his chest. Stella saw a few greedy smiles on the younger ones as they lifted up his shirt to look at the wound. Not that she could privately blame them. She could only anxiously watch in the corner.
They caught the blood and were working on spells to repatch the area he was hit in. The ball was only half-heartedly continuing outside.
Out of the corner of her eye, Stella found Loki pacing about. His face was severe. Until he looked out at a door where the party was continuing. Guests were chatting and even dancing without a worry in the world. He leaned against the wall with one arm to watch them but with crossed eyebrows and a stubborn frown.
Stella approached him quietly, her eyes angry. She knew how to mother naughty children when they did something they should not have. She had that gleam in her eyes before a scolding that is universal to any mother.
“Loki, you did something horrible,” she began sternly.
The god turned to look at her. But his face had the same sour expression.
“You’re right. I stabbed him in the wrong place. I should have aimed for his cock, it would’ve save us all the trouble,” he replied.
He looked back at the party.
Stella took in a breath to slow her heart, to cool the heat building up in her face. Using Christian virtues of forgiving one’s enemy would not work with a Norse god, she figured. There was no use debating if Will was good or bad, no use debating what he did. They already had this conversation before. Things would only become worse between them than they were.
There was the shameful twinge of herself that felt like he was right yet…it shouldn’t have happened like this…how could she speak to him?
She crossed her arms and looked at him. With another slow inhale, she figured out how.
“Go inside, help the healers, and use your magic to make him stable, please, Loki,” she requested.
He turned around and squinted at her as if she spoke a foreign language.
“I beg your pardon? Why? He deserves it. For the pain he inflicted. For the pain he inflicted on you, might I add. He can bleed his way to this ‘heaven’ plade for all I care,” he argued.
She met his eyes resolutely.
“Loki…if not for his sake, then think of this…”
Touching his arm with a strong grasp, Stella’s eyes never lowered from his.
“ There are three children who need their father alive. They are staying with a couple who use Will’s tithes to take care of them. If he is gone, those children have nothing to support them. They will all be declared orphans and never see their father again, and I could lose them if another claims them. You must heal him. For James’s sake. For Jo’s sake. For Johns…and mine…” she added.
Loki got up from the wall. He looked at her- strong, angry, and as beautiful as ever. Inches close to her face, his voice quiet.
“For your sake. And the children’s sake. Not his,” he replied.
The god turned inside. He magicked away the bucket that had a cloth full of blood and conjured new bandages. He made sure the healers had whatever they needed. Medicinal magic was not his realm of expertise, but it was what he could do. That and back away and lean against the wall to take in the healing of this infamous man.
A healer walked into the hallway with Stella.
“He is stable. There shall be a scar, but there isn’t any bleeding. He will have some pain, but he will live,” she reported.
“Oh, thank you!” Stella replied.
She scurried in and saw the women checking in on Will. His middle was bandaged and clean. The dagger removed with magic. He was drinking a potion that was going to patch up his innards in a golden cup. He was frustratingly handsome as ever with his curls draped against the pillow. He looked up at the room, his face to the side to show his profile.
But her head turned…Loki was speaking to a few healers. Conversing with them. He had done what she asked.
She approached him slowly and smiled.
“Thank you, Loki,” she replied.
She then went over to Will. He handed his cup to the healer beside him. She gave Stella a silent, jealous glare.
“Stella…Stella, dear…” he rasped, his arms open.
She wrapped her arms around him and hugged him. He embraced her back, feeling the rich material of her gown.
The healers trickled out with satisfied smiles painted on their faces. Loki turned and gazed on the wife and husband.
He hesitated, and then he left the room.
He knew he should not overhear the private conversations of a couple, one who had been married for over a decade. Considering Jo’s age, if the girl was conceived on the wedding night, then it meant they were married at least for fourteen years. Fourteen years to know a person, be tied to them, have them at the hip, always with you, around you, called on when needed…what was that like?
Despite himself, he heard bits of their conversation. His adoptive parents were together for centuries. Yet the murmurs that trickled out between the mortals in that room didn’t seem too entirely different.
But if Stella was his…fourteen years did not feel like enough to have her with him.
There were a few words he did pick up on.
“How long until you are better?” asked the husband.
“Only a week or two, they say. There are some symptoms but…I’m not dying. It feels so odd, but…I’m not dying. I’m going to be normal in a fortnight,” Stella answered.
“Normal in a fortnight…why, what does one even say at this!”
“Only that this is a very good place that helps so many people…” she replied. “Wait, Will, wait here…”
Her footsteps, light as dancers, pattered out the door. Loki jumped and turned back to his spot in the hallway. He saw her approach him.
“Could you send him home, please?” she asked.
He complied. After a few happy tears and hugs and promises to write, Will was transported with Loki’s magic from the guest bedroom to his own.
‘Leave it to him to try and explain to his malicious misteress in the seven hels happened to him last night. And good luck making anyone believe him,’ Loki thought.
The party was already coming to a close. An entire one was thrown, yet the hosts were gone and now guests were getting tired and leaving. Even the music was softer, slower.
One by one, they left. Leaving Stella and Loki alone in the ballroom which was littered with flower petals and crumbs of food on the floor. The night was dark and starry. The crackling torches on the wall were dim.
Loki lumbered over and sat on some stone steps on the floor. It would lead out to the circle where musicians would play. But now there was no music, only the guilt burning inside him.
“Thank you, again, for healing him, and taking him home” Stella said.
The god was stiff. His face pale and he held his hands as he surveyed everything, but avoided looking at her.
“Loki, what is it?” she asked.
He looked about the remains of the party. The magic had yet to clean it up, but he still wanted to look.
“I ruined it. I ruined your party. Your party. I...I…I hurt him…that is what I do…I ruin things…no wonder I was left behind as a child. I ruin everything by touching it..” he mourned.
Stella walked forward.
“Don’t say that about yourself. It is not your fault what your parents did.”
She leaned down and touched his arm. He relaxed as her fingers brushed his fine leathers. He then looked at her.
“Loki…everyone does something they regret when their emotions get the better of them But you listened to me. You stopped it. And you took action to fix it…Loki…I forgive you.”
He looked down again at the ground.
“Is this what I always do? Do nice things and then ruin them? Give you even more things you must forgive me for?”
“You’re a god. Not an angel.” she reminded him.
She sat down next to him.
“Let me tell you something. I once became so frustrated at John when he was little. I was so tired- James was just born and he was crying all night and I barely slept a wink for months. John ran in getting mud everywhere one day. It bothered me so that I raised my voice and scolded him for getting mud in the house. He burst into tears and wouldn’t speak to me all night. He wanted to go hide in wardrobes... I never felt such shame. I found myself crying because I was a bad mother…but I told him I was sorry. And he forgave me. Now he always keeps track of his shoes and helps me clean them.”
She reached over and touched his chin so that he turned to her. There was a gentle smile on her face and part of Loki melted on the inside.
“We will always fail. All of our lives. But we learn from them…and try and do better…that is only the way the world works. In Midgard. Or in Asgard.” she replied.
Part of her shivered when she thought of the fact that her husband almost died- and that if she didn’t act, he would have.
“Loki, Promise me you won’t try to end his life, please?” she asked.
He reached his hand up and touched hers. She felt something in her body tighten as he did. He then placed a second large, gentle hand over hers. Pale and smooth compared to the rough, hairy hands of her husband.
“I promise, I won’t try to end his life, Stella…”
“I know why you did it. You were thinking of…of him and Cora, didn’t you?”
“Yes, I was…”
She paused and lowered her head. Her eyes went down to a discarded flower that fell from the wall and lay trampled.
“I must be honest…”
Something about the long night, her tiredness from the events, was bringing about a candor in her. But she could trust Loki. She could tell him anything.
“Sometimes I think…There are times I think of that dance. They were centimeters away from kissing. I should feel happy. I tell myself I brought this to them. To myself. I should feel happy. I know I should…but I don’t feel happy. I feel so…so sad, so angry. I tell everyone all the time I am happy. But I couldn’t be less happy than those days... Loki…I feel as if  could have flown into a rage and taken that knife and stabbed him myself-”
She covered her mouth, shocked at the words that came out of her. Loki looked at her, her figure hunching more.
“It’s horrid! So, horrid! I…I felt so bad about such thoughts I…I made myself push them away. Keep them in a box. I never…never told anyone…”
Loki shifted closer to her. Her shoulders tightened. Her blue skirt like a collapsed tent around her as it seemed to deflate around her legs.
“Him and Cora I…I find, when I’m alone, when it’s only my mind- I bewail it, and I blame myself, I blame him and yet…I keep it away, I tell myself it’s for the best. He loves her. And she him. My family won’t be  alone, I tell myself I don’t feel bad yet I…I’m gonig to be healed…and this means, this was for nothing. I’m going to have my health. I’m going to live but…he’s still…”
Her breathing was fast.
“He write to her. Every night. I would crawl up, before I was sick, and see his office. The light was still on. His sleeves were still up like it was some great labor. And he would be writing furiously, focused by his lamp. He would barely glance at me behind him. So I would turn and leave…but I was well…even when I was well, I knew he was writing to her…And he would lay awake at night. Reading his Bible…not because he was dealing with God. He was…was thinking of her…all that time, all he could think about was her, and not me anymore-and I wasn’t sick then!”
Tears welled up, her face red and getting scrunched and hot. Finally, the water broke and she began to cry.
She went up to Loki and clutched him.
“No one is here but me…you can cry as much as you want…” he assured her.
She wrang out the tears. Her shame, Her guilt. Her secrets. Her pain. Let it ebb and flow. For once, unhappiness did not disturb Stella. It did not feel like she was going to ruin something or hurt someone. The grief itching in the back of her brain could be scratched.
Her crying paused. After that, beneath the tears that streamed down her cheeks. Even as she was broken, melting down into a blank slate of herself.
She cried. Cried in front of someone. And she ruined nothing and hurt no one. No one thought her a weak, foolish person. Loki would never think that about her. But an invisible weight had drifted off her shoulders. She felt…at peace.
Loki put a hand on her face, his long thumb wiping away one of the tear stains. She felt her heart suddenly race against her chest.
“You have done nothing to be ashamed of…you have thought such things yet never acted on them…you’re stronger than I could ever dream. You’ve had such fury, such grief….and you hurt no one…”
He froze for only a moment and then continued.
“You have so much love, so much compassion Stella…but one day you will realize not everyone deserves it…or you…”
She blinked.
“How…how can I…even do that?” she asked.
“Well, I for one, advise on preferably not stabbing someone in the middle of a party in front of his wife.” Loki quipped.
She grinned, a weak laugh escaping her thick, pretty lips.
He escorted her through the hallways and up the stairs to her room. She paused.
“Loki I…please I…” she muttered.
She was blushing, as she held out a hand for him.
“What is it?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.
Her hands went to her sides, bunching up into fists.
“Loki, I am a decent woman. And I want to be a decent woman but…tonight could you-could you-”
The god felt every sense in him strike alight, he tensed, not believing this was happening.
Stella wrung her hands on her side, her eyes lowering and darting about.
“You just…you resemble him, in face and form and…I don’t…I don’t want to feel like I go to bed alone for once. I’ve slept beside someone for years and to feel your bed empty for the first time. I…I…could you just…just hold me as a I go to sleep?”
Loki found he was blinking. His chest seemed still and then rose and fall with breaths he needed to be slow.
“You want me…to hold you…as you sleep?”
“You don’t know what it’s like…to sleep in the arms and next to someone you adore. Feel their warmth and touch and then it..it vanishes…I feel…oh, heavens, I feel like some child needing her doll at night. I just- I haven’t been held when I slept for months, but Loki…I don’t want you to…to…”
She turned red as her eyes went up to his, the confession bursting from her.
“Do anything less than gentlemanly, but I just want to be held. Please!”
Loki stepped forward.
“Yes. I’ll stay here, and hold you as you go to sleep.
She went behind a screen. Loki tried not to let blood rush to his system, his body, knowing she was bare just behind that one layer. But he knew to control himself.
Out Stella emerged. Her soft, silk, white nightgown. Her hair in her favorite braid that draped down her side.
He tilted his head, and his magic turned his clothes from leather to the plain white shirt and soft brown pants.
“Is this how the men of Asgard sleep?”she asks.
“We prefer the…natural form, if you say,” Loki replied with a wink.
“Oh…” Stella replied demurely.
“But I won’t make you uncomfortable.”
“It’s only…he…it’s almost funny, your sleep shirts almost look like his.”
She sat on the bed.
“Would you like me to change to his form?” Loki asked.
Stella shook her head.
“No…just your own, please,” she replied.
Always with manners. It was as if she grew up in a palace like him. He couldn’t help but like her.
They laid down on the bed next to each other. She turned to one side and he wrapped his arms around her from behind. A hug. A reminder that she was cared for, touched. Warm beneath blankets, she fell asleep. Loki drifted off not long after.
When morning arrived, she awoke first. She could feel his arms, but settled into him. Listening to his soft breathing.
When she turned into him, he insintincively held her close.
When he woke up, he was slow in his greetings. And then making sure she was alright, he left the room to give her privacy to dress for the day. His curls were tussled and his cheeks had a slight pinkness to them. He seemed so real, so unfiltered…so human.
“I’ll…I’ll…I’ll see you at dinner, Little Star,” he said.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
The healer in the back room of the cottage had Stella sit up. She was a pretty young woman with dark brown hair and soft brown eyes who held a white bowl in front of Stella's mouth.
“Now, spit,” she instructed.
There was one thing Stella was always advised to do. Every single doctor’s visit, be mortal or Aesir-Spit, Mrs, Ransome, please. Spit. Spit to study the contents. It was unladylike. It was crude. It was something she saw every one of her children do since they were babies. Spittle gurgling down each little chin in a soft bundle.
She was realms away and yet it felt like nothing changed.
She obeyed and spat into the dish. The pretty healer smiled at her and then went to meet her superiors.
Three more women in their long, white dresses came over to examine her. They listened to her lungs. Waved their hands to have magic images float in the sky- and somehow they were able to read what was happening in her body. But there were more smiles this time, a flitter of excitement in the air.
“Have you felt tired?” asked one.
“No…come to think of it, I’ve not felt tired in the day at all.” Stella answered.
“Do you have any pains in your chest lately?” she asked next.
“I…I think it’s been last week since my chest had any pain…” Stella replied.
“Any blood coughed out?”
“I haven’t been coughing and there was no blood.”
The younger one who took the spit returned. She whispered something into the ear of the others. They all turned and smiled kindly at her.
“Lady Stella, we have good news. It seems everything in you shows that between the medicine doses, the rest, and the air here…you have no symptoms of the illness and it is not anywhere in your lungs.” one announced.
The world almost fell out. A sound came out of Stella like a gasp, and she covered her mouth. Hardly believing the words, although the feeling in her body told her otherwise. She had been feeling strong. She wasn’t sweating at night. She had her appetite. She was…normal. Normal and healthy.
“We studied everything, and there is only just a little bit of hte disease. Do not fear, for it will inoculate it. Your body shall likely not catch it again…” continued the healer, the leader of the group.
“I…I…I’m healed?” asked Stella, her hands shaking.
“Yes, you’re healed.”
She smiled wide, tears in her eyes, and hugged them. Thanking all of them.
As she got into the carriage, she was beaming. She couldn’t wait to go home and…
Oh, home. The home wasn’t the white house on the marsh. Home was the enchanted palace. The place of refuge…
Stella walked through the entrance to see if there was a nice spot to have some tea and a sandwich. She was feeling peckish.
But as she walked down, she did not expect Loki there, strolling up with a spring in his step. Handsome and winning as a fairy story.
“Ah, I wanted to find you,” he announced.
“Why, what is this?” she asked.
“We aren’t just going to eat dinner today,” he announced. He stopped before her, a proud grin on his face. “We’re doing what you mortals call luncheon- it’s quite a charming little idea. I found a spot in Asgard. And I want to take you there…I think you’d like it..”
He held his hand opened to her, bowing gallantly.
“Would you accept, my dear lady?” he asked.
Ignoring the fluttering in her stomach, Stella accepted and took his hand.
In a flash of light, they were under the sun. Not a harsh sun, but a gentle one. And there was a cool breeze. The birds singing weren’t distant, but could be heard nearby.
Stella gasped in delight.
She was in a whole field full of blue flowers. Roaming over the long grass. They decked throughout and bent with the wind. She could see where the ground sloped down a hill and made a new one- decorated with the flowers. There was the odd tree, but it seemed it went on for miles.
“Why, this…this place…I…” Stella gasped. The color of peace, of heaven, of beauty all around her.
“The whole place just screams you.” Loki quipped. When she looked at him, his smile had softened.
“I’ve never seen a field full of flowers, much less blue ones! Thank you!” she cried.
“Here…let me show you more of it,” he offered.
He took her hand and led her through. They walked as eagerly and excited and free as children. Loki led her one place and pointed eagerly. She saw a lake and high mountains topped with snow. So high, the clouds above kissed them. How tiny she felt compared to it from a distance. As she breathed in deep to take it all in, her lungs strong again, she could tell the air was cooler, crisper.
“I…I’ve never seen a mountain before!” she exclaimed.
“And now you have, my dear! I accept glasses of wine and time with you and not with my brother as a thank you,” he replied.
She only made a light laugh. Loki had his magic  conjure a picnic blanket and a basket. But Stella was too eagerly picking flowers to eat yet. She bent their green stems to form a necklace and wore it over her.
“Hmm, why do you wear those little beads?” Loki asked as he got out plates and steaming bowls of food.
“Oh, out of habit. For protection!” she answered.
She took it off hers and leaned to Loki. Though he flinched , he let her put the necklace over his head.
“Here, so you can have protection too.” she offered.
Loki let out a sigh, but relaxed, letting himself wear the flowers. It wasn’t befitting and could seem silly for a god and prince to have them, but Stella’s smile when she saw him wearing them was….well, exquisite. Her small giggles at them stirred something inside him.
And they did smell nice, he silently admitted.
They enjoyed their picnic, which consisted of sandwiches with salted meat, soft fruit in delicate little bowls. There was even a small almond cake offered inside which Loki found himself struggling not to shove entirely in his mouth.
Stella eagerly picked up a few flowers and held it up to him.
“I…I think it’s like your Frost Giant skin- could we check?” she asked.
Loki turned his hand blue and his eyebrows shot up in astonishment as he compared.
“It…it is..” he confirmed.
‘Now help me pick which ones to press!” she offered.
They looked around, gathering some in their arms. All full of bouquets of the blue flowers. Stella was planning to put them in vases around the castle to add a bit of her touch to them. But Stella brought out just a few from one bunch.
“Here, have these,” she offered.
Loki tilted his head at them.
“Little star, it’s usually the gentleman who gives the lady flowers,” he commented.
“No- keep them! I want you to press them into a book or anything you wish. So you remember, so you reflect on how beautiful they are, and how beautiful your true form is!” she replied.
Loki accepted the flowers. Looking into her eyes and smiling. He made them float in the air where they drifted into the baskets.
Loki began twitching his hands. Here it was- his chance. Now or never. He was going to say the reason he brought her here, to this field.
“Well…” he began. He wasn’t good at saying it. But hhe wanted to say it. He needed to say it and yet the words couldn’t come up to him. He knew it was futile, but he had to say it, he had to say-
“Loki, I have good news: I’m healed now…” she announced.
He froze. It was a clear, sunny day but it seemed as if a bit of his brother’s thunder had rumbled through and brought lightning down onto him.
“You’re healed?” he asked.
“I am recovered. I am not weak, I cough no blood…”
Loki looked on the ground for a few seconds, then back up. He took both of her hands and placed them in his.
“There’s something you’re thinking of, isn’t there?” he asked.
“It’s only…I miss…I miss my family, my children…if only…I could tell them, see them again, let them know I am better…” she confessed.
A second passed between them. A deep breath came through Loki
“Stella, you should go,” he said.
She blinked.
“You will…let me go, just like that?” she asked.
He nodded.
“Yes…you are the mistress of the palace, not its prisoner. And your children need you- and you are healed. You can go. I will do everything to make sure you are safely returned.”
A smile broke wider on Stella’s face, even a few happy tears. She eagerly embraced Loki and he embraced back. He held her, taking her in, burying himself in her. Trying to memorize how she felt to his touch. Trying to remember her embrace, the feel of her pulse, her scent, the brush of her yellow hair against his skin.
It was going to be one of their last for a long time.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Hurrying to the library, Stella got out paper and pen and scribbled down the letters in excitement. The first to the Ambroses and to Will, to share the good news. To share in her joy, her miracle. She asked that the Ambroses have the children return home at their earliest convenience to be reunited with them.
That made her tear up. Her three little dears, getting about in London in the big city. When they were taken away for fear of their catching it, she sobbed. It was going to be the last time she ever saw her darlings…and she was going to live. She was going to see them again. She was going to see Will again. And the dog, and the church, and the sea, and everyone in that town. The Bates, Martha, Cora, even that old curmudgeon Cracknell still made her laugh in her memories and there was going to be more of him to make her laugh. And that was to name a mere few of the people there!
She was going to have her health back, her family back, her life back…
The pen stopped. She looked over the two letters, the handwriting scribbing from her fast writing in her urgent joy. There was a window that looked about the gardens where the birds sang, flowers bloomed, and now and again, little creatures walked about without fear.
And Loki…Loki who danced with her, spoke with her, looked at her- no, not only looked, who saw her, understood her, listened to her. Loki, Loki, Loki who made her feel…feel…
She was going to miss it…and she was going to miss him if she had to be honest with herself…but…she was here to be healed. And it had happened. Her task was done.
She went over to her room with the chest.
“Send this first one to the Ambroses’ in London, and send this one on the right to my house in Aldwinter.” she requested.
The letters vanished.
In the meantime of the children’s travel, Stella was busy as a bee. She kitted little blue dishcloths from the parlor. She gave one to each healer and to the friends she made in Asgard. She wished she could have seen Thor once again, but there was no time now. And the palace would not let her in as a mortal and a peasant. But she did leave him a note should he come back.
In just a few days, she received word that the children had arrived. And she could return.
Stella was given the dresses and trinkets she wanted to keep. Another brown box with the pebbles and flowers she found would be there. She was allowed to use the chests to write to her Asgardian friends.
The carriage was going to take her back. This time, Loki’s horses would carry it. She stepped out as the god helped her get her new belongings packed safely.  She was bedecked in a traveling gown of a blue jacket and skirt. She was given a small purse and a smart hat with a tiny veil to complete the outfit.
Loki held out his hand, studying the difference in size, her warmth, and her bare skin on his bare skin. But the door was left open.
“Loki…I want to speak to you, please. You have shown me so much. You made me better in every way.  My body…and my spirit. I don’t feel as if I am the same since I met yout…thank you.”
He smiled at her. Though he was a little sad. His hands then conjured something in the air.
From his pocket, he got out a dagger in a small sheath. Stella foudn her eyes got big. He pulled it out to show it had a blue hilt and ancient norse on the blade.
“I would be surprised if you had any practical use for it…but I wanted you to have this gift. So you could use it to remember me.” he offered.
She accepted it preciously. “It’s beautiful…thank you” she marveled, tucking it into a safe corner where it wouldn’t leave its hilt.
“And Stella…”
He paused. She turned her head to him.
The words laid heavy on him. They called him “silvertongue” and yet his tongue felt heavy in his mouth.
“Stella I…I have to tell you…tell you that…”
Her eyes went a little wide, her plump lips barely parted. He got closer. But everything froze. No- it was too much. He knew where and to who she was returning to. It would ruin all things good between them.
He couldn’t …no, he never could tell her.
“Stella, I hope…when you return…that you are happy.” Loki finished.
She relaxed and smiled at him.
“I will be. And I hope you see your family again too…and that you are the happiest god in all the realms.”
She cupped his cheek with her lovely smile. Then she released and settled in.
With a deep breath, Loki lifted his hand and twirled one finger. A portal appeared at the end of the path. The driver from the palace nodded- a stout, somber man who said nothing and minded his business. He clicked the reigns.
The carriage went through the glowing, golden portal. Once it vanished through, it closed. Gradual and sudden as a dying firework.
Loki stood there. Half hoping it would return any second…
It did not.
He found himself blinking, a quiet tear going down his face.
He wanted her to stay. If he had his way with all things, she’d stay with him in that palace for…for as much time would let them. Haunting him in every corner. Hearing her footsteps, her voice, a flick of blue that he knew for sure was her. Only this time it wouldn’t be her.
But internally, he would never forget Stella. And she would always be there, at least in his mind.
He loved her.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Aldwinter was astonished when on its muddy streets, there emerged a grand carriage. They all gasped and huddled out of doors or smashed their faces into windows to see it. Such finery down here in this humble place! They could practically see the mud sticking to the wheels already.
When they caught who was inside, there was even more tittering about them.
“Why…is that…Mrs. Ransome? Alive! And looking quite well if I dare say! Going through the towns paraded like a princess! What is she doing?”
The carriage arrived before the white house on the field.
Jo was outside, swinging about a stick, imagining it a sword. Her little kerchief on her head slipped and she pulled it up. Then she turned and dropped her stick as it headed right to her.
Inside the window, she saw a blonde head and a kind smile.
Jo opened the door and the dog began to bark from inside. Her brown braid flipping in the air as she was running about.
“Mama! Mama is home! Everyone! Hurry!”
The three children darted out first. The grand carriage stopped and out from the door was a fine lady in a blue travel suit.
She lifted her veil and they gasped.
She smiled, tears in her eyes.
“Darlings- my beautiful darlings!” she said.
“Mama!” they all gasped,.
They all ran forward and she knelt down to embrace them and ksis their heads, their joy glowring. The dog was barking and there were heavy, masculine footsteps from a study hurrying down the stairs to follow them.
All in that house beaming with the light of joy.
And the lonely god realms away knew it was happening, as he stood in his castle and smiled with tears in his eyes.

Hiya, it's Lottie! I asked for the Loki story. Anyway, I was wondering if you would write an arranged marriage story where the reader is forced into a marriage that she doesn't want to be in. It's not a bad marriage at all, in fact, her husband (a character of your choice) respects her but there isn't any love. Her husband is having a very obvious affair with someone and she doesn't mind since he is so respectful and nice to her. They fall in love and there's a moment where he overhears her saying something like she believes people can learn to love or something. You can add whatever you want or take anyway anything. Can it be someone either from criminal minds or marvel?
Sorry again for the long request
A Love We Learned || L. Alvez
₊˚⊹♡————— ♡ —————♡⊹˚₊
Hey, Lottie. So I chose Luke Alvez from Criminal Minds and decided to make this into a multipart story, I hope that's ok! I think I told you this before but you never have to apologize for long requests, I love when people have ideas on what they want.
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, etc.
Summary: Baron Luke Alvez has been engaged twice before, both of them dying only weeks after moving into his estate. Y/N Falkner is worried about her fate once she is wed and how she will navigate her new life.
cw: use of Y/N, predetermined last name (Falkner until she is married then Alvez), inaccurate descriptions of royal times because I'm not that knowledgeable on the topic, more specific warnings in each part.
₊˚ ‿︵‿︵‿︵୨୧ · · ♡ · · ୨୧‿︵‿︵‿︵ ˚₊
Like this idea but don't want to commit to a possibly unfinished multipart story? Check out my masterlist

LOKI LAUFEYSON STORY
I need help finding an older story (multipart, like 20+ chapters) about Loki and reader, where she helps him escape imprisonment from the Avengers and they travel together through the dimensions with help of the tesseract to fight an evil creature who keeps prisoners and let's them fight. Through the story the reader (it was a woman) kinda becomes one with the tesseract and is able to travel through the universe without Lokis help. She was like the adopted daughter of Captain America. Towards the end she and Loki get together and fight with the Avengers/Inhumans to save the earth from the bad guy.
It's an older story, like 2020/2021. I can't remember the name anymore but it was really popular back then. No TVA or Endgame storyline.
All help is appreciated, thank you very much.

Not Him (1)
This was going to be a one shot but it’s unfolding a bit different than intended so I think two or three parts should do the trick.
Tumblr media
Summary: The reader has a little crush on Bucky but it’s not as much a secret as she thinks.
You had tried to fight it. Tried to resist the inevitable. So long spent in the presence of another either led to incurable yearning or unyielding detest. You couldn’t quite believe which had overtaken you. His blue eyes made you look away, his gaze made you blush, every word held you in awe. Why did he make you feel so...bubbly?
You tore your eyes away from Bucky before he could catch you in the act of staring. He would think you plotting his murder if he saw. You hadn’t actually been drooling, had you? You cleared your throat and sat back recalling the dozen other people in the room; the drone of Tony’s voice, the interjections of his audience, the incessant buzzing of an unseen phone.
No one seemed to have noticed your momentary lapse. You exhaled slowly, your breath catching halfway as you met an unexpected pair of green irises. Loki was watching you, his forehead wrinkled in thought. You couldn’t help the telling twitch of your eyebrows at being caught. You tried to play it off, catching the dawning of a smirk at the corner of his lips before you could turn away.
He didn’t know. He couldn’t. Even he knew of your deeply harboured feelings for the former Winter Soldier, what could he do? You had grown use to cutting quips. His nonchalance; every word, every step carried an air of superiority. Why he was a god merely trapped on Midgard until he found another planet worthy of his indulgence.
You rested your chin in your hand, trying to hide your face from the trickster. Surely his attention was long gone. You rolled your eyes and shrugged to yourself. You were imagining things. You were paranoid due to your stupid crush. It was nothing, you reminded yourself. It had become your mantra since you had first notice the breathtaking blue which coloured Bucky’s eyes. How could you not as you stood so close to him?
As of late, you had found yourself reconfiguring his arm far too often, but his missions had left him with decalibrated fingers and broken sensors. You had warned him to be more careful as you had other work to do in the lab. The only reason you were the one tending to his damage was because Stark refused to have more to do with him than was required and Banner used his usual excuses that he was much too busy himself.
It was awkward at first. You barely knew Bucky and he was the naturally silent and brooding type. From what you did know of him, it was expected. But then, as you were working on his hand, you had caused it to pinch you quite painfully. You had caught him chuckling at your whispered curses over your own mistake and you had found the grace to laugh too.
Then, conversation followed. He had found his voice and you yours. You would ask him about his last mission, or what he could disclose about it. And he would ask about your latest project or whatever menial task Stark had assigned you. Soon enough, he was staying beyond the time it took your to complete your repairs and the two of you were chatting about everything and anything. And then you had noticed. Your heart had skipped a beat as your mind remarked on the oceanic quality of his eyes. You had choked, covering it with a cough and turned away to neaten your work space.
It was nothing.
The memory caused a blush to warm your cheeks. You rubbed your jaw and tried not to think about it; tried not to glance across the table at Bucky. He wouldn’t know if you did, you highly doubted he thought so often of you. If you peeked, he wouldn’t even know it. Don’t, you warned yourself. Don’t give in. Don’t make this complicated.
Your eyes wouldn’t listen to you though and you leaned more heavily on your arm, turning subtly to look across the table. Bucky was half-asleep as he leaned against the back of his chair and the heat of another gaze quickly drew your own. Why was he staring at you again? You frowned and swiveled your attention back to the front, trying not to let Loki bother you. Him and his irksome smirk.
The rest of the meeting you spent desperately trying to ignoring your guilty thoughts and the constant shadow of Loki’s gaze looming over you. You were too embarrassed to peek and see if he was still looking. A third glance would be far too much. You furrowed your brow, trying to discern Stark’s words through the clutter of your own mind and finally, you were dismissed.
You stood slowly, pushing yourself to your feet with the table. You subconsciously looked across the table as Steve jabbed Bucky’s shoulder, waking him from the cat nap he had succumbed to. You smiled to yourself but it quickly died as a blur of green once more distracted you. Loki was still sitting, leaning back smugly with arms crossed as he observed you. This time, you openly scowled back at him and turned away. You stomped from the room before his grin could grow any bigger. You wanted no part in his mischief.
In the hallway, you waited for others to pass in the rush to get away from the stuffy conference room. You pressed yourself against the wall as Vision swept by with Wanda at his side. You were jolted as you felt a warmth against your arm. You looked over as Bucky leaned next to you, his blue eyes following the train of Avengers departing for their respective duties.
“You awake?” You kidded as you looked up at him.
“Not really,” He yawned into his metal hand. “You?”
“Barely,” You smiled, pushing yourself further into the wall as Loki appeared in the doorway, thankfully following his brother in the other direction.
“Guess I won’t be seeing you for a couple weeks,” He said, “You’ll be happy for that. Actually get some work done.”
“Why’s that?” You asked, trying to conceal your disappointment.
“I may have been sleeping but I was listening, Y/N,” He reproached, “Me, Steve, and Nat are off to a yet to be disclosed location for a while. Some warlord or another is stirring up trouble.”
“Right,” You knew you should have paid better attention. “Well, at least come back with that thing,” You pointed to his arm, “Intact.”
“No promises,” He kicked himself away from the wall and stood straight, “But, be it irreparable or otherwise, I’ll be coming to see you.”
“Oh?” Your brows drew together as you gaped like a fish.
“If that’s okay?” He said, suddenly doubtful, “Thought maybe, I don’t know, you’d want to get together outside the lab? Um,” He rubbed his neck and looked down the hallway shyly, “I’m bad at this. I used to be kinda smooth but yeah, are you...interested?”
“Uhhhhhhh,” You were half-dazed as you tried to decipher his offer. Was it a date? Or was it just a friendly hangout? You were just as bad as he was at this. “Sure, we can, uh, watch a movie or something?”
“Yeah, a movie,” He chimed, “Great idea.”
“So I guess that’s a...plan,” You clapped your hands together awkwardly, trying to contain yourself.
“Sure, we’ll figure out the details when I get back then,” He smiled, exhaling as if relieved, “So, uh, see you, um, then.”
He awkwardly clapped your shoulder before stutter stepping past you. You tilted your head as you watched him go. You couldn’t tell if the tension between you was the right kind. You shook your head at yourself as you went over the exchange once more. Could have been any more oblivious? It was almost painful to be you.
You cringed and forced yourself away from the wall. You were just going to crawl back to the lab and mull in the maelstrom of embarrassment and elation. You were going to watch a movie with Bucky and yet, you couldn’t imagine it going much better than your last interaction. You were suddenly and entirely under-prepared.
“Well, that was thoroughly entertaining,” Loki’s voice cemented your fears as he stepped out from behind the next corner.
You sighed and growled at him. You rolled your eyes and made to pass by him. As you did he chuckled, his green eyes a weight on your shoulders. “You Midgardians are so simple.”
“Would you fuck off,” You stopped and turned on him. “I didn’t ask your opinion and I surely didn’t ask you to eavesdrop. Why exactly would you be so interested anyhow?”
“This planet is rather boring so I must find ways to amuse myself,” He slithered, “In Asgard, we had fools at court none so delightful as you, dear.”
You stone-faced him, shaking your head as you swiveled back to your path. It wasn’t worth to argue with him. All Loki ever wanted to do was torture others. He revelled in the little ways he could make others squirm. Once Thor had grown ambivalent to his antics, he had been searching for a new mark. It seemed you were the latest to catch his eye. At least it might keep you distracted from Bucky’s upcoming absence, though you would have preferred a more enjoyable diversion.
It had been two and half weeks since Bucky had left. You hadn’t meant to count but life was a little emptier in the absence of not only him but Steve and Nat as well. Steve often visited the lab to speak with Stark and Nat bothered you every now and again for girl talk. She liked to complain about Wanda’s lovesickness and the overpopulation of males among her team. It was a welcome respite from long hours of work. But now, all you did was work.
It was late and both Banner and Stark had already left for the night. It was unusual for you to be the last in laboratory but you hadn’t been sleeping well as of late. You couldn’t place it but it was as if there was a presence in your room; something hiding in the dark. It was those old childhood ghosts come back to haunt you. That there was a monster unseen, lurking just beyond your vision.
Alas, it was nothing.
At least, when you turned on the lights, your room was vacant and all was as it should be. You tried not to think about it you rearranged the microscopic fuses beneath the lens, aligning them so that they could be fit into a simple locket. Stark only ever wanted his gadgets smaller and smaller. It was starting to give you a headache squinting day in and day out.
A sudden knock on the glass behind you caused your tweezers to clatter to the table and you swore as you pulled away from the microscope. Your heart was racing and you spun around in your chair, ready to sight the beast who had been hiding in your closet. It was only Bucky.
Wait, it was Bucky! You jumped up from your chair and waved at him, a smile blooming against your will. He smiled back and went to the door. You were still in disbelief as he entered; as unexpected as a storybook monster beneath your bed.
“You’re back?” You asked.
“I am,” He answered smugly, “Early. Or late, depending on how you look at it.” He glanced around the empty lab.
“Yeah, uh,” You followed his gaze, “Just trying to get caught up on some stuff.”
“Does that mean you’re too busy for that movie?” He wondered.
“Aren’t you tired?” You asked, “You’ve been on the road for almost three weeks--”
“You counting the days?” He interjected. His uncharacteristic hubris was off-putting.
“N-no,” You stammered, “I guess I could call it a day.”
“Great,” He was rather close to you.
You hadn’t noticed him inching so near to you. You turned to tidy up your work space before you could think too much of it. You tucked your toolkit away and shut down your computer as Bucky leaned against the table beside you, metal fingers tapping on the edge as he waited.
“Alright,” You fought back a yawn, “Do you know what you want to watch?”
“Not really. I don’t watch much these days,” He said as you led him to the door. He reached around you to hold the door for you. “Lady’s choice.”
“Okay,” You nodded, “Uh, where exactly were we watching this movie?”
“Hadn’t really thought about it. We could use the lounge or maybe...your room?”
“Well, I guess my room is closer,” You offered, “But the seating is limited.”
“That’s fine with me,” He smiled over at you, “All I desire is your company.”
“Alrighty,” You agreed, sounding like an idiot as all you could blurt out was the cartoonish remark.
You walked the rest of the way searching for something to say but your mind was blank. You kept peeking out the corner of your eye at Bucky and trying to stifle the thunder in your chest. You opened your door and waved him inside. You searched for your remote, hidden behind your television as you listened to his soft footsteps. He was rather stealthy for his size. You turned back to find him sat on one side of your bed, his arm across the headboard. “Lots of room,” He gestured to the empty space beside him.
You gave a half-smile and slowly crossed to him, your nerves flurrying like a blizzard as you settled in on the bed. You pressed the power button and instinctively searched out Netflix. Oh my god, were going to Netflix and Chill with Bucky Barnes or had you fallen asleep in the lab? This had to be a dream, right?
“Um, here’s a new movie,” You said, your voice shriller than usual. “Do you like comedies?”
“Sure, I’ll watch whatever,” His voice was low and you could sense him watching you. You hoped he couldn’t see you sweat because you were feeling the heat.
“Okay,” You clicked on the suggestion and set aside the remote.
The opening credits began and you tried to focus on the screen. Bucky’s arm slipped down onto your shoulder as the first scene began and even subtitles couldn’t have helped you keep track of the dialogue. You couldn’t help but relish the feeling of his arm around you and you leaned into him without thinking. It was barely twenty minutes in before you felt his breath rustle your hair and you looked up to find his eyes intent on you.
“I have no idea what this movie is about,” He rasped as he leaned closer.
“Me either,” You admitted as you watched him get closer, his lips brushing against yours before the gap was finally closed.
His kiss was firm and grew deeper as you returned it in kind. You couldn’t help but let the long-harboured yearning take over you. This felt all too real to be a dream. This was real and it felt exactly as you had imagined it. You finally forced yourself to part from his lips to take a breath but as you pulled away, you were shocked to find that Bucky’s blue eyes had turned emerald.
You sat up so sharply you found yourself falling off the edge of the bed. Loki was sat on your bed in place of Bucky. His dark hair was tousled from your embrace and a triumphant grin curled his lips. You were shaking as you stared up at him in shock and humiliation. This wasn’t real, it was all a cruel trick.
“Out,” You whispered, struggling to find your voice. “Get out,” You spoke louder as you got to your feet, your entire body trembling. “Loki, how could you?”
You raced to the en suite bathroom before your tears could fall, before the trickster could rise from the bed and stop you. You slammed the door and locked it, leaning against it as you hid your face in your hands. You were such an idiot. You had wanted Bucky to like you so much that you would have believed anything. You should have known it wasn’t him; he had been too nonchalant; too adamant.
“Y/N,” You heard Loki’s voice through the door; close enough that he was likely right on the other side. “I--”
“You achieved what you wanted,” You spat, “Okay? I’m thoroughly humiliated. You can go now.”
“No, I didn’t mean--Y/N, you misunderstand, this isn’t meant to be...that,” He was the most uncertain you had heard him. Almost vulnerable.
“What was it then? You pretend to be him,” You hissed. Your eyes were burning and your throat was tight.
Silence followed and you listened for Loki’s departure but no footsteps sounded. You could sense him still, just outside the door. You heard him sigh and felt the door shift as he leaned against it.
“I didn’t know how else to talk to you,” His voice was softer, repentant, “And I saw you talking to that super soldier and I thought...Well, you never look at me that way.”
“Why would I?” You snapped. “You’re...you. You do shit like this for kicks.”
“No, no, it’s not a trick. I just…wanted to be close to you.”
“I thought you were Bucky, Loki,” You balled your hand into a fist as you spoke through gritted teeth, “Otherwise, I would never be alone in the same room as you. You’re despicable!”
“I’m…” He paused and you felt the tears pricking. “...Sorry.”
“No, you’re not,” You said, struggling not to let your hurt show through in your voice, “Go away.”
His reply was another prolonged silence. This time, however, it was followed by his footsteps. As you heard your bedroom door open and close, you slid down to the floor and pulled your knees to your chest. You hung your head and let the salty drops trickle down your cheeks. It would be another sleepless night.

A Potential Loophole To Exploit (5/? - A “Just Pieces On The Board” Story)
So apparently I decided not to abandon this fic when I was doing my last round of drops for WIPBB, and I’m just now getting time to sit and work on it, just in time to finish it tonight, hopefully, and post on Saturday. So fingers crossed? But this chapter is a fun bit of Thor deciding to play matchmaker with so so so many people.
A Potential Loophole To Exploit - After Thor and Loki leave a meeting with their mother, they start to talk about what can be done to stave off the foretold arrival of their sister, Hela, and begin to make plans.
READ CHAPTER 1 | READ CHAPTER 5 | SERIES PAGE | HELP ME SURVIVE? | COMMISSION ME? | BUY ME A KOFI? | MY PATREON
“Well, brother, this seems to be going well,” Thor said as he and Loki stood near the throne as their mother was greeting the delegates from Earth. He knew their mother was known as “The Beloved” by many in the kingdom, and it seemed she was much beloved by even the delegates with the hardest of shells; for instance, he had heard that Mycroft was a very staid individual from the doctor who helped run S.H.I.E.L.D. in England, but he seemed to be hanging on her every word. Then he noticed Loki had not made a comment, either a sarcastic one or not. He turned and saw Loki’s attention was on the very beautiful, though not his type, companion of Jane, Darcy Lewis. “Loki.”
“What?” Loki said, or rather snapped, as he turned to look at his brother.
“She would make a good companion for you, as long as she doesn’t use her taser on you. Those dastardly machines hurt.”
“Pain isn’t always a bad thing,” Loki mused.
Thor grinned and shook his head slightly. “You’re smitten.”
“What? No,” he said. “I could have any woman in Asgard, aside from Sif. Her intentions have always been towards you.”
Thor cast a glance at Sif, who was standing near their mother, a polite smile on her face. “She does not want to leave Asgard, but she is putting on a face for the good of us all.”
“A conversation with Heimdall changed her mind, as did a trip,” Loki said. “She went to that Son of Coul you’ve talked about and asked to join their organization. I take it they have a history.”
“So she will not remain with us?”
“I don’t know,” he said, pursing his lips together. “She may stay wherever we relocate and only go when SHIELD needs her. The Warriors Three will probably follow her lead, as they all tend to stick together.”
“Then that is good for the Son of Coul,” Thor said. “I will be staying with the Asgardians for a time to make sure things are well, but then I will be going to New York again, to stay in the tower that Stark built.” He smirked a bit when Loki made a face. He had admitted, on one of the rare occasions since their father’s death that he allowed himself to imbibe too much, that the Hulk had nearly broken his body by slamming him on the floor of the penthouse over and over. The mental image it had conjured in Thor’s mind made up for many of the childhood stabbings and mayhem he had lived through with his brother.
“I know I will remain with the Asgardians and Mother,” he said, turning back to look at Darcy again.
“You do not need to. I know Jane trusts you begrudgingly, as do the others. Allow yourself to remain under my supervision for a time. Stay in New York with me and prove you have turned over the leaf you say you have.”
Loki pulled his gaze away and tilted his head to the side as he thought about it. “Perhaps,” he said. “Though what will there be there for me to do?”
“I’m unsure for now, but you are, in some ways, more powerful than I am. You inherited powers from Laufey, and you learned magic from Mother and trained with some of the best Asgardians in battle techniques. And you are a strategist; you almost won the battle in New York.”
“Yes, but that was under the influence of the scepter,” Loki said as he frowned.
“Do not let what I am about to say go to your head, but Loki, you are a genius. You’ll find a way to fit in with the Avengers.” Thor clapped a hand on his brother’s shoulder and then turned him to Darcy’s direction, where she was talking with two of the people who worked with the Son of Coul, Skye and the man who asked to be called Tripp. “Go ask to speak to her. Make conversation again. I can stay if Mother needs one of us.”
Loki nodded and then made his way over to them. He looked awkward at first, Thor noted, but then Darcy’s eyes widened and she grabbed his arm and dragged him over to something that interested her as her former conversationalists looked on in amusement. Thor debated staying where he was and then moved to the two of them. Sif had more history with Skye than he did, and she spoke highly of the girl.
“Have you seen anything that has impressed you?” he asked the two of them.
“I’d kill to see if I can adapt some of this technology to SHIELD,” Skye said with a grin. “Not that I’m going to, but I would.”
Thor chuckled at that. “It will be interesting to see how what we consider magic will blend with your science,” he said. “I know Jane has many plans and my mother is choosing to let her have free reign over whatever she wants to use.”
“Kind of helps to be dating the next king,” Tripp said.
“Our relationship does give her some advantages, yes. But I am sure similar advantages can be worked out for those of you at SHIELD. Sif has vouched for most of you.”
“That’s good,” Skye said. “I like her. I think she’ll be a good addition to the team when we need her.”
Thor let out a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding. Perhaps things between him and Sif wouldn’t change so drastically and they could still spend time as the friends he considered them. He almost missed the conversation Tripp was continuing.
“...and I think May likes him too,” he said.
Skye made a scoffing sound. “Nope. May and Coulson are like Mom and Dad. They’ll end up together. I’ll bet you twenty bucks.”
“You’re on,” Tripp said, extending his hand. Skye shook it and then they were called over to some of the other members of their team. “I think this is all going to work out,” he said to Thor as Skye walked off. “Tell Sif we want to talk later? I mean, you and the Warriors Three and even Loki can come. But we thought we’d hit a pub while we were in London that Molly recommended.”
“Of course,” Thor said, trying not to frown. Who was it that they thought their colleague fancied aside from the Son of Coul? No. She had eyes only for his friend, it was obvious. And he’d do what he could to make sure they both knew it. “We’ll be most honoured to join you there.”
Tripp grinned and gave him a thumbs up and then went to join Skye. As he watched them walk, he had the feeling if there were any rules regarding interpersonal relationships between colleagues, they would be broken into smithereens at least thrice by those SHIELD agents. He already knew the duo as Fitzsimmons were joined at the hip, and the attraction between the older duo in charge was apparent, but there was something between Tripp and Skye. He grinned at that, forgetting his earlier confusion. It would be good to see appropriate matches made amongst his newfound friends...

So, despite not having an active account just yet, I’ve started writing on some one shots, and well my second one kind of expanded and now its out of control and a multi-part. But I am writing a big bulk of content to put on here slowly just so I don't fall behind.

If you’re up for something fluffy and/or lighthearted fun - like a month ago I gave another writer I’m following this idea but she‘s been gone since then and I would still love it 🥺
I was in the mood for a Lokitty Fic because it’s been a while and for whatever reason I’min the mood:D If it’s gonna be more fluffy, funny or even angsty is up to you 🫶
Basic idea was Loki disguised as a cat 🐈‍⬛ has been hiding from something/someone in our home. Without him realizing until he’s already in too deep, he starts to fall for us and the way we care for him. Not part of his plan. He hadn’t intended to reveal his identity and surely couldn’t do it now after basically misleading us the whole time.
But what’s been escaping him since as well - we absolutely know. 🤭
A/N: Hey friend! Thanks for this very sweet and fluffy prompt. I accidentally seemed to have made it a multiparter and I have no idea where this is going except definitely to fluff town, and the comfort district. I guess stay tuned? WTF am I even doing??
Much love,
Peb

Stray: Part 1
Masterlist link
The rain was tumbling down in heavy sheets as you made your way from the train to your apartment. By now you'd just about memorized how many steps were left from the soaked platform to your door.
The thought depressed you a little, realizing how long you've felt stuck in this life; just another shop girl in the city, a uniform and an apron with a tired person behind it. As the cold water continued to hit you, you were glad to realize the number of steps to the lobby door was finally reaching single digits and picked up your pace in one last jolt of momentum.
Then you heard it; an almost imperceptible mewling under the incessant drumming of the storm. You turned, following the faint noise until you reached the alley and the giant dumpsters housed there. The stench was awful. You held your soaked apron over your nose as you peaked into the crevice. Two of the biggest, most beautiful, aquamarine eyes stared back at you from a void of soaked black fur. It was a cat, and it was absolutely screaming now, realizing it had someone's attention.
It's not like you'd never seen an alley cat before. There were swarms of them around, but there was just something about this one, something so desperately in need of love. The little guy seemed almost confused to be in this position whereas the other strays seemed to resign themselves to their shitty fate.
You braced yourself; tried to talk yourself out of what you knew you were about to do and had never ever done before. It would be incredibly stupid. You weren't even allowed to have pets. You didn't even know if he was sick and you would never have the money to take him to the vet. Regardless, you sighed and scooped the pathetic little creature up, swaddling him in your apron, as you hurried toward the front door. Huffing, you warned him, “Okay buddy, but I swear to god, you better not have rabies.”
-----
Loki was glad to finally be out of the rain and stench, even if it was in a less than ideal form. Several hours earlier he had landed with a crash, cushioned by the heaps of debris. He scoffed realizing his neat black suit and tie and the crisp white shirt were now utterly ruined. His sunglasses were nowhere to be found. The money; all that money that came with him as he dove out of the plane was now safely magicked away, at least.
He groaned pitifully. A fall like that coupled with a mid-air tussle with Thor was enough to floor the younger god, though he hated to admit it. And who was Thor to come after him anyway? This whole D.B. Cooper heist was his fault...all because of that idiotic bet. Loki probably would have laid there feeling very sorry for himself a good deal longer, but he heard the lonely patter of someone running toward him through the downpour. He had to admit he needed help, and it was time for some quick scheming to get it. Good thing this was always his forte.
He had barely accustomed himself to his new feline form and begun mewling loudly when he heard your footfalls slow and watched your shadow move down the alley.
Come on. He thought, imbuing it with the hint of an enchantment. Come find me, mortal.
Loki was incredibly pleased with himself and, frankly, a bit surprised that his ploy worked so easily. Such dull creatures, mortals...such soft hearts., he mused as he dozed in your arms. He was already barely conscious when he heard you quip, “Okay buddy, but I swear to god, you better not have rabies.”
Hey! Rude, he thought, attempting to give a menacing, insulted glare, but it only came out as a grimacing twitch of his whiskers and whining, grumpy, growl.
The human smiled a reluctant little grin and tussled his fur saying, “It's a good thing you're adorable.”
I'm not adorable! I am a god, you dull creature! , he screamed in his mind, but it only left his mouth as another pathetically cute whine.
---
In your bathroom you clipped your wet hair up one-handed and kept the little creature bundled against your chest. Once your hand was free you tested temperature of the bath with a wiggle of your fingers.
Satisfied, you said, “Alright friend,” holding the cat under his armpits and meeting his eyes, as if you could appeal to his sense of logic. “You stink. I have to give you a bath. You can either except your fate with dignity or you can be a little shit and claw my eyes out. I beg you to accept your fate.”
He thought to himself, Why wouldn't I want a bath? I love baths, you idiot. Now clean me, mortal. I tire of....
“Mrewwoooow!” he screamed as soon as his paw hit the warm water. He surprised you and himself as you both flinched violently. Apparently Loki was unable to resist his new feline aversion to water. Okay...okay...this is new. He mused.
“Okay....Christ! Listen here, you little shit! You can either deal with this while I scrub you down with some Herbal Essences, or you can smell like dumpster juice.”
“Meow”
“Yeah. I know...I know it's not the right thing for cats. I know I should take you to the vet first. I know this is not fucking ideal. I'm...I'm doing my best,” you said, with an unexpected hitch in your throat and slightly-welling eyes, as suddenly you both realized you weren't just talking about the bath anymore.
Loki felt an emotion he couldn't quite categorize; one he seldom felt, one others might call sympathy. So he fought his instinct with all his might and remained quiet and while you carefully washed and rinsed his fur. You smiled as your careful hands cleaned every last patch. “Thank you,” you said softly.
My pleasure, he thought, and meant it. It actually did feel very nice to be clean, and if felt even better when you dried him, and wrapped him in a warm towel in front of the space heater, with one bowl of water, and one of tuna. By the time you had showered and settled next to him on the floor in your pajamas, he already had a full belly and was drifting off again in the pleasant warmth. You sipped your tea and stroked his now very glossy and soft black fur.
“See! You're such a handsome boy now that you don't look and smell like wet trash bag. That wasn't so bad, was it?”
From where his head rested on his delicately crossed paws he lazily opened one stunning eye to glare at you menacingly, but it only made you chuckle.
As you laughed and smiled down at him, stroking his fur, he felt something else he couldn't quite name; gratitude, certainly, but also something else...something like wanting desperately to see you smile as much as possible...something like hoping that sorrow he saw a glimpse of before wouldn't eat you alive...something like just wanting you to be okay regardless of the benefit to himself.
The next time he half-awoke in the night, you were gone and the lights were out, though you had left the space-heater on for him. With his now-amplified hearing, he listened for you, anxious to know you were still there. Only once he heard the gentle undulation of your sleeping breath could he relax into dreams again and wonder what tomorrow would bring.

Sorry I've taken so long to update this fic, I was on vacation and then I was in the hospital twice since I've been home
Smut Request by @leahlovestwd: The original request was deleted in the tumblr-verse so this will be a completely new formatted oneshot about Daryl where he and the reader have had a sort of sexual tension for a while and it finally becomes too much when Daryl sees another man flirting with the reader.

Smut Request by @honey-on-my-lips: Spencer Reid x Reader "Part 2 to this fic".
Flirty/Fluff Request by @sleepless-lies; Elliot x Reader; Summary: "can you please do prompt 25 and 26 where he’s trying to apologize for something stupid he did (flirt with her friend or something)."
Fluff Request by @what-muses; Summary: "May I request a Jonathan Byers x female reader where they play “never have I ever?” And somehow end up kissing?"
Fluff Request by @steezysimfinds; Summary: "Y/N calling Loki “My King”."
Fluff Request by @steezysimfinds; Summary: "Y/N (or another hero) has a perfect opportunity to capture Loki, but Y/N stops it so Loki can escape."
Fluff Request by @steezysimfinds; Summary: "'Why are you here?' and 'I didn’t have anywhere else to go'. Maybe Enemies to Lovers?"
Angst Request by @tearsaura; Summary: "Can I request something angsty with the prompts 11 and 15 for Aaron Hotchner?"

Oneshot Request by @bringinsexybackk69: Daryl Dixon x Wife!Reader Summary: Daryl and his wife were separated at the fall of the prison bit the Reader manages to escape with Glenn. When they end up upon Abe and his crew, reuniting, they form a group looking for the rest of their family. At Terminus, once all the fighting is over, Daryl and Reader reunite.
'Him + I' Multipart Series: Bodyguard!Daryl x Mafia!Reader Summary: Daryl is entrusted with protecting his bosses daughter which, in all of his years of working, is proving to be one of the most difficult jobs he's been given. Not because the job is difficult but because she is difficult.
'Breathe Me' Multipart Series: Bucky Barnes x Therapist!Reader Summary: Bucky's difficult part and sharp attitude makes their sessions difficult but his therapist gets right through to him with some 'unconventional' methods.
'Cruel Summer' Oneshot: JJ Maybank x Reader Summary: JJ Maybank makes it his personal job to see that Topper's older cousin is given the full tour of all that the Outer-banks has to offer, including his way of life.
'Daddy Dearest' Oneshot: Negan Smith x Reader AU Summary: Strictly for the pleasure of @ncllywrites, this lengthy oneshot is about the situationship between Negan Smith, a CEO in New York City, and one of his many assistants. Of course he goes after the one girl who doesn't fall at his feet, making it his personal effort to win her over by any means necessary.
'Lights, Cameras, Action' Oneshot: Rafe Cameron x Camgirl!Reader Summary; Rafe falls in love with his most recent camgirl that he's been going to when he craves human (electronic) interaction and affection. Simple as that.
'The Chain' Multipart Series: Summary; The Mandalorian is tasked to take on a high risk, high priced bounty, an escort, who he later realizes isn't wanted for the right reasons and takes it on himself to see that she's handled properly.
Unnamed Oneshot; Spencer Reid x agent!reader; Summary: "After Reid gets out of prison and they're interrogating Cat, it comes out that she's pregnant with Reid's child. Following a big blow up, the reader has some words with Spencer but also with Cat."
Unnamed Oneshot; Aaron Hotcher x teacher!reader; Summary: "The reader meets Aaron at Jack's parents teacher conferences and he's heard all about Jack's 'cute teacher' through Penelope who's done snooping and also through Jack who's completely infatuated with her. When he gives her his personal number to reach out to him regarding Jack when he's off on a case, does she take it as an invitation to reach out to him or does she not?"

Pairing;  Loki x Reader, Steve x Reader, Bucky, Natasha, Nick Fury, Thor and Valkyrie round out of cast! Summary:  Picking up where Part 3 ended:  You’re on the run with Loki, who wants answers.  Steve comes clean to an old friend, Natasha and Fury make a plan. Warnings:  References to violence, smut, intergalactic travel, and some kissing!
Tumblr media
From his vantage point at Steve’s grill Bucky noticed the almost frantic vibration coming off his oldest friend from all the way across the lawn.  And Steve wasn't carrying any champagne.  In fact, he was whispering furiously to Natasha, shaking his head.
Looking to the skies, Bucky smelled the electricity in the air.  It made the hairs on his human arm rise, antenna to trouble, tuning into the wrecked wavelength his friend was putting out.  It was about you, of that Bucky was certain, and with your own strange behavior tonight, he knew trouble was en route. He had let you sneak away, sensing your breaking point, knowing your need for a minute alone.  It was the reason you were such great drinking buddies.  You let Bucky be himself and he returned the favor.   Besides, something in Steve was different these days, something Bucky didn't exactly like.  His friend, Captain America, hero to the weak, was pushy.  Aggressive.  Angry.
And when Steve looked at you, there was a gleam, a spark of possessiveness that gave Bucky pause.  Sure, you were amazing.  Funny, smart, undeniably sexy in a way all your own.  Bucky understood wanting you, he even got the need to have you, hold you, lock you down with a ring.   If only Steve could see how unhappy you were.   Each time Bucky saw you, the strain had pulled more of your joy away.  Sure, you baked pies, smiling the whole way, chirping platitudes and teasing Steve.  That happiness, though, it never reached your eyes.   Telling Steve that an engagement ring was too much, too soon, Bucky had tried in his very stoic way to prove that you weren't ready.  Never fully able to give his buddy his blessing, Bucky had opted instead to provide you a shoulder to lean on.  And lean you did. Slugging back vodka shots at all these parties, in the quiet and seldom used spaces of kitchens and dining rooms, you had talked easily with Bucky.  No topic was too wild or off limits, with the exception of Steve.  Anytime the name of your new love came up, the subject would change.  You'd deflect and Bucky let you. Maybe he should have pushed harder, he thought as Steve stomped his way.  Maybe Bucky should have forced you to talk about whatever issues you and Steve faced, tried his hand at advice, or offered excuses for his best friend’s erratic behavior.  If Bucky had done that, then perhaps the stifling stench of trouble wouldn't be pooling around the party, pulsing through all the high energy people gathered together.  “Buck… come here, would ya?”  Sure, Steve sounded like himself.  Jovial, a little concerned in that serious way he had, but not mad.  For some reason, it reminded Bucky of the way Steve’s father would talk, just before he’d beat the ever loving hell out of Sarah… or Steve.  It soured the stomach of battle tested Sergeant Barnes.  War was coming. “Sure thing, punk.”  Cocking his head, Steve couldn’t quite look his friend in the face, opting instead to focus on the open back door of his farm house.  Would you come strutting out of it, unaware and un-phased?  Steve prayed for that, even if his gut told him otherwise, “Bucky, you said my girl was in the ladies’ room?” Tucking his hands in his pockets, nodding solemnly, “Yea, Stevie.  Yea.  She had to piss.  It happens.”  Waiting for the battle was exhausting and Bucky just didn’t have the patience to stew in the slow burn of Steve’s anger. Clapping a broad hand along the neck of the Winter Soldier, Steve pulled his friend close.  To anyone looking, the embrace would seem brotherly, kind.  What they couldn’t see was the tight grip used to keep Bucky contained, or hear Steve’s heated harsh whisper, “Where the fuck is she, Buck?  I know you know.  So tell me.” Reacting instinctively, pulling against the restraining hook of Steve’s palm, “I don’t know what you’re talking about… she went to the bathroom, I came out here.” “Well she’s gone now and so is Loki-” Stepping back out of Steve’s reach, “Wait.  Loki was here?  I thought you said he left.  Opened the Bi-Frost or whatever.  Disappeared.” Almost growling, Steve ran desperate hands through his blonde hair, ignoring Bucky and turning to Natasha, “We need to let Fury know.  Set a perimeter.  Loki won’t be able to get off the planet, not without help anyway.” “Fury’s involved?  Steve, what is going on?” Jabbing a finger into the chest of his best friend, Steve spun, spitting, “You let Loki kidnap my fiance, that’s what’s going on!  And now I have to find her and rescue her before that greasy alien asshole does something else to the woman I love!” Rearing back, Bucky inhaled, lifting his shoulders.  If you have to fight a friend, fight fair, he thought.  Already Bucky could read violence in Steve’s muscle movement.  The graceful way Steve bounced on his toes to build momentum into his fierce throw was minute but effective.  Dropping his right arm, just a touch before stepping into his swing, Steve's eyes screamed murder and they were locked onto James Buchanan Barnes. A swish of air brushed at Buck's dark hair as the blow missed.  Bucky easily blocked the punch, grabbing his pal at the wrist and twisting until his chest was pressed into Steve’s back.  It was as fluid as the ballet you had forced them to attend a few months back, quick and clean movements, executed flawlessly. Bucky felt Steve spin in his grasp, planting his feet, preparing to toss the Winter Soldier on his ass.  His counter maneuver was a leg sweep, one Bucky was ready to use, when Steve went limp in his grip.  Natasha had sucker punched her mission partner in order to get his attention, “Steve.  You gotta relax.  Bucky didn’t know and you’re drawing attention.  Too many eyes around here, ya know?”   Natasha waved to Tony, a gesture that said, no worries, everything is ok over here.  It was enough to satisfy the playboy, who turned back to his cocktail and conversation with Rhodes. “I'm fine.  It's fine.  I’m just…” unable to find the right word, spiraling, Steve sagged towards the ground. Catching him at the waist Bucky steadied his woozy friend as Natasha brushed off help from the other guests.  Returning to the pair of soldiers out of time, The Black Widow, barely containing her disgust, “Bucky, get him inside.  Steve, I'm sending everyone home, then I’m going to make a call.”   True to her word, Natasha whispered something to Tony and Pepper, Bucky clocking their reaction of concern for both you and Steve.  It was very clear to the Sergeant that The Avengers were not in on this mission.  None of them were permitted to hang around the farm house with Nat going so far as to walk out with Clint and Rhodes.   Bustling Steve into the kitchen, Bucky kicked a chair free from the table, dropping his buddy on his ass.  Still a little amped up from the almost altercation outside, Bucky decided to put a bit of distance between him and his childhood friend, resting his hip against the counter, "What the hell was that, Steve?" "Stay out of it, Bucky." "It's too late for that, punk.  Either you start talking or we take this back outside." Side eyeing the super soldier with a metal arm, Steve tugged at the corner of a pretty place mat sullenly, "Fuck you." "Language!" "You think I give a shit about bad words?  Now?  No… things are too far gone." Waving his hand, begging for more, "Care to elaborate, Cap?" Steve had a second to consider his options.  He could let Bucky in, tell him what was going on, hear his opinions on the situation at hand.  Or… not.   "You don't need to be involved.  Once Nat gets back, it's best if you go." Thunking into the opposite seat, Bucky leveled his grey gaze on his pal, "And if I say no?" "Look, it's an off the record thing.  Tony, the rest of them?  They know nothing.  I don’t need you sticking your nose in-" That was all it took for the dam of Bucky’s own outrage to burst.  With a wood rattling slap to the custom built dining table, open palm connecting enough to make Steve jump, "Damn it, Rogers!  My nose is in this already.  Hell, you were ready to half kill me over this… over her, not fifteen minutes ago!" Sighing, hard and heavy, Captain America pressed back in the wooden chair.  He saw the questions in Bucky's look, the need to unravel this mystery, the desire to find a way out for his friends.  And Steve realized that to accept his buddy's help, Bucky would need the full story. The truth hurts and Buck's words stung Steve.  Bucky was right and in the end, he reasoned, they might need him to help bring down Loki.  After a second of consideration, a rough hand sliding through his blonde locks, "Fine.  FUCK!  Fine.  What do you know?" Crossing his arms over his chest, stern voiced but curious, Bucky started, "Just you and Nat reporting to Fury?  Small team." "Small mission.  At least, at first."  Trying not to give anything away, making Bucky work for it felt good, almost like a return to his life before Loki, before you.   Tapping his metallic finger on the table, Bucky resumed his questions, "So, how does Loki figure into this?" Leaning forward, Steve lowered his voice, “Weapons tech.  Power.  More than when he attacked New York.  He’s been off world gaining followers, an army, and a throne.” “So the plan was to keep Loki away, right?” Nodding, Steve’s inflection solemn, “By any means necessary.” Rocking his head back, as if slapped, Bucky’s eyes widened.  Just the implication of those words, by any means necessary, used by Nick Fury meant that this mission was crossing a line from mundane into murderous.   "And she was your way in."  It started to take shape, the whole sorted plan, Natasha’s involvement and Steve’s role in it all.  Bucky felt that prickly sensation again. Bowing his golden head, Steve shook it yes, "Only… I wasn't brought in… I… volunteered." "Ok, but why?"  Inching closer to the truth, waiting out the Captain, Bucky nodded for him to continue.  When Steve wasn't forthcoming, Bucky nudged his foot with a sharp kick, eager to accelerate the story. For a second that frantic, frenzied energy flashed through the room again, pulling on Bucky's sixth sense, "Because I wanted what Loki had… who Loki had.  I wanted her, so bad Bucky.  So bad."  “Steve… come on, man.  There are other girls out there-” Cutting his friend off with a shout, “Why should that asshole have her?  He doesn’t deserve her.  Before he left, she was always so sweet, so cute… then he… abandoned her!  Left her!  Man, that was… just so hard to see.” “Yea… I know.  I mean, I remember when she and Loki were together.  And I know his leaving was hard on her.” “Hard on her?  She… she stopped eating, stopped sleeping.  God, I could hear her crying all night.  Know how hard it was to keep away?  To know that Loki had forgotten her?”   Steve kept talking, about you, about loving you, and the lengths he went to in an effort to court you.  He followed up with all the ways you denied him, over and over, until Natasha intervened.  That all of it played into Fury’s plan was a convenient cross-point, coincidence, until things had gone wrong this afternoon. Bucky let him tell his story, knowing full well it was merely a version, a fairy tale wrapped around the rotten apple of truth. In Steve’s world he was the hero, wronged by fate, Fury and Loki Odinson.  His path had been paved with good intentions and pure hearted motives.  It was everyone else who misunderstood, miscalculated and mistook his actions.  Could Steve be blamed for that?   Of course, this edition of Steve’s tale didn't include beating up a cuffed prisoner.  It also omitted the fact that Steve had been pursuing you while actively lying about Loki's whereabouts.  Glossing over the details allowed Steve to paint a picture highlighting the best of him, but Bucky had known the little punk a long time.   During a long pause that found Steve with his head in his hands, Bucky took a deep breath and asked, “And how did you and Fury know what Loki was up to?” “He was sending mission reports weekly.  Loki had been tasked with helping promote peace across the Nine Realms.  That he gained so much was the tipping point.  Fury felt like a return to Earth would be 2012 all over again, only this time… total annihilation.” Something was still nagging at Bucky, “Had Loki made any threats?” A guilty look passed over the face of Captain America and his normally solid voice wavered, “Not that I was told about.” “So, Fury...?” “Fury needed… no, that’s not right.  He wanted to keep close tabs on Loki, monitor his return, his mood, his movements, if he ever came back.” “And since she was his lover, she was a potential point of contact… the entry point?” “A possible one.” “If you were dating her and Nat was posing as her friend, then you’d know if Loki reached out, spilling the details on his plans, and be able to head him off at the pass.” “Exactly!”  Oddly proud, Steve was almost happy that he no longer carried the burden by himself.  Sure, Natasha knew, had even engineered some of it, but having a friend on his side made Steve feel better. “But Loki didn’t do that?  He surprised you today?” Blowing out a frustrated snort, “Natasha went to meet him at the base.  Apparently, the high and mighty Prince expected to be greeted by Fury and his forgotten lover.” “That didn’t sit well with the God of Mischief?” “Nope.  Somehow he froze Nat.  Confined her, I don’t know… Anyway, he came here and…”  Trailing off, Steve could still picture his lady’s body, your body bent under his own, your eyes pressed shut in ecstasy.  How you ground against what looked like his own sculpted skin, moaning through an orgasm that appeared amazing, and left you with shaky legs. Going silent, Bucky didn’t push, not this time, but he did feel the moment Steve surrendered fully.  His shoulders let go with a deep inhale, his voice sounding like that scrawny kid from Brooklyn after a bad scrape,  "She loves him, man.  And I fucked up.  Loki’s got my girl and I don't have any way to find her or fight him." Tears?  Sighs?  This wasn't Steve.  No, Captain America was an unstoppable, unflappable hero.  Spinning out was Bucky's move, not Steve’s.  Putting his fleshy hand on Steve’s shoulder, trying to console the broken man in front of him, "Come on, kid.  There's always a way to win.  It's what you and I have been doing for over a century." “Not this time, man.” "Why not?  Did you come clean?  That’s why she left, isn’t it?  You told her what was going on and she went after Loki."    Shame filled Steve’s heart, his cheeks burning, "I… I didn’t get the chance.  She left here, but not alone." "She'll be back."  Words, pathetic platitudes, were all Bucky could offer.  He had seen you tonight, skittish and jumpy.  He saw Steve’s reaction to your disappearance, angry and hurt.  Bucky thought that a snowball in hell stood a better chance than you're returning. "Not happening.  I lost it on her, Buck.  Smashed up mom's dresser, yelled… It was like being outside myself, watching myself do and say these terrible things.  And it wasn't her fault.  Not really.  I mean, yea, she fucked him but he was me, so-" "Whoa.  Stop.  Say that again?" Steeling himself to relieve this afternoon’s nightmare again, Steve swallowed hard, "Loki, you know how he can… shape shift?  Well, he came here as me and I walked in on myself screwing my girl!" Bucky's eyebrows lifted, his full lips curling into a cockeyed grin, "Wait.  You're telling me that you came home and saw yourself banging your future fiancé?" Pausing, catching Bucky barely holding back a smirk, "Yea… why?" And for some reason, after all the incredible things Steve had shared tonight, it was the idea of Steve catching himself balls deep in your naughty bits that made Bucky laugh.  Once he started, Bucky couldn't control the mad giggles from overtaking him, much to Steve’s astonishment.  But then Steve laughed, too, "I guess it is pretty funny, when you think about it." "I mean, your face must have been priceless!"  Clutching his stomach as the laughter grew stronger, Bucky had tears running down his cheeks at the image Steve described.  Sure, it was a horrible thing, but who could say that they watched themselves having sex like that without being in porno?   It took them both a minute to calm down, with Steve settling enough to counter, "Shit, Buck!  I was pissed!  I probably looked crazy." "That I do believe.  What did you say to her?  Them?" Now his face flushed scarlet, burning with embarrassment.  The lie was just easier to get out, "Um… I don't really remember.  I know I surprised Loki and well, my girl fainted from being used by him.  The shock of it not being me, ya know?" Bucky didn't buy it, but he let his friend sell the story anyway, "Must have been scary for her.  And that's when you secured Loki in the locked shed?  And set Nat as your watchdog?" "Yup."  Unable to meet his friend’s stormy stare, knowing that it would undo him completely, Steve focused on the edge of the table, running his fingers back and forth along the rough wood.  If this were an interrogation and Bucky were sitting across from a suspect and not his best friend, he’d have no problem beating the guilty man into submission.  But Steve was his strongest connection to this world, this time, and it was hard to walk away from family, even if they didn’t deserve the benefit of your doubt.  To that end, one thing still bothered Bucky, "Why not cancel the party, man?" "Because I still want to marry her."  Pulling the small black box from his front pocket, Steve toyed with the thing, his vision of a future with you still so close to realized. Whistling at the size of the sparkly rock enshrined in white gold, "Fancy.  What do you think your chances are?  Think she'll say yes?" "My chances went down to zero the second Loki dropped down to Earth.  As for her answer… Dunno.  I… I hope so, but now…", Steve faded off, knowing there was little hope for your romantic reunion if he didn’t have a clear idea of where you were at the moment. "Now Loki’s back." "Right." “And they’re gone, together.” “Right.” “And Fury’s on his way.”  Striding in on impossibly high heels, Natasha folded her arms over her chest, eyeing the two gossiping men in front of her.  It was going to be a long night. --- Somehow you had made it to the treeline undetected, using the orchard as a shield, ducking behind trunks as you and Loki scrambled toward the edge of the property.  You couldn't help looking over your shoulder, checking for pursuit, worrying that Steve or Natasha were going to find the pair of you.  There was no possible way they would let you get away, not after today, not with Loki. It was a bit treacherous, though.  There was only natural light to guide you through twisted branches and raised roots, so your progress was slower than you wanted, but Loki was with you.  Even beaten and bruised, he radiated calm, a soothing balm for your frayed nerves.  Something about that made this whole situation seem better, manageable.  You were no longer alone, Loki was here, holding your hand, not directing you but consulting.  "Pet… the roadway is up ahead.  Stay here, tucked out of sight." Pulling your long lost lover close, a small kiss passed between you, a passionate promise to sit still.  Stepping tentatively out onto the gravel filled shoulder, Loki surveyed the highway quickly.  When he was satisfied that the coast was clear, Loki waved at you, motioning you forward.   Striding confidently at your side, Loki stopped in the dead center of the yellow lines, his grounding arm around your waist.  A car, low, black, expensive, came racing round the bend, barreling towards you.  Tucking your chin to Loki's chest, you gripped him tight, readying for the car's impact.   A roar of wind swirled around you, grabbing at your skirt, whipping around your legs.  For a second you thought you'd been struck.  Breathless, your lungs emptied.    There was nothing solid under you, just the feeling of Loki and a current of warm air.  Next, you felt the impact of hard earth under your feet, vibrating through your shins, then Loki's grip loosening a touch, "Ok, darling?" Peeking from under his arm you saw lights everywhere.  A bar was to your left, filled with noisy drinkers, barely discernible from the traffic around you.  Honking horns made you jump, "Where the hell are we?" "Cleveland.  I can't yet take us off world.  I'm still a bit weak, I'm afraid… but at least we have a bit of a head start on Rogers and Fury." People pushed past you on their way to dinner, chirping happily, not seeing you in their tunnel vision.  Being anonymous was a nice change, welcome even, as your personal life had been lost to Steve's intergalactic presence.  On the busy streets of Ohio no one took notice of the two well dressed people standing on the damp sidewalk. "Um, you changed?", no longer sporting his battle gear, Loki was dapper in a black suit with an ebony tie.  Leaning closer you straightened it, not because it was crooked, but because you needed to feel it… him.  The whole look was just shy of too much, but that was the space Loki filled best and honestly, looking at him made your heart swell. Loki was back, and yours.  After more than two years, having him close again felt natural, easy.  In so many ways, the opposite of your life with Steve.  As if somehow sensing your tug into nostalgia, Loki knuckled your chin up, "Just keeping up with you, love." His nose brushed against your own, so weirdly intimate and innocent for a man who had slapped your ass red only hours ago.  Resting his forehead to yours, you inhaled that magical combination of burning sparklers, broken in leather with just a hint of honeyed citrus, "God, I forgot how great you smell." "Hmm… dove, there is nothing on Asgard that smells or tastes as wonderful as you.  Believe me.  I looked." "Careful Loki… people will say we're in love."  At your cheekiness, Loki claimed your lips, his hands sliding over the soft fabric of your dress.  Clinging to him, unwilling to let go now that he had returned, you puffed out a pouty sigh as Loki withdrew. “Norns.  You know how badly I want you again?  I can barely think straight for wanting you.” Oblivious to everything around you, lost in the sweeping pools of Loki’s desire filled expression, you toyed with his collar, “We have a lot of catching up to do, for sure.” “I’d love to get reacquainted-” here he paused to lick over his full lower lip, hunger for you dripping from every word, “-but we are on the run from the Earth’s mightiest heroes.”  Snickering, you rolled your eyes at the thought of the Avengers, hours away eating charcuterie in Steve’s backyard.  Stepping back, you sighed, “You’re right.  So, have you got a plan?” Hanging in the air, your sentence had just left your mouth, your tongue still savoring the syllables when a sizzling crack snapped next to your ear.  Swinging you away, forcing you to the sidewalk, Loki spun in a blaze of green.  Crouched over you, snarling, “Fury!  Always a pleasure to see you.” Stepping from the blazing golden circle supplied by Dr. Strange, Fury crossed onto the Cleveland sidewalk from your now empty garden party, weapon trained on Loki’s broad chest.  “Wish I could say the same, Loki.  You know it’s time to end this.  Let’s take our… deliberations back to the office.  Talk about this man to man.” A barking laugh left your lover, “Man to man?  I am a GOD!  And you… you are pathetic.  Your attempts to keep me off Earth, imprisoned, away from my woman have all failed.” “Where are you going to go?  You can’t get off the planet without help.  My help.  And it’s yours, Loki, if-” “If I come quietly?  Tail between my legs, submissive and compliant?”  As the words left his mouth, you watched, focused on the way Loki was shifting closer to you.  The long fingers of his right hand were visible, reaching back for you, a silent signal of his escape plan. Fed up and furious, Nick Fury’s voice was flat with frustration, “Loki.  Enough.  Let’s do this somewhere people aren’t.” “Oh, I don’t know, this seems as good a place as any!”  Circling Loki, edging nearer, Fury tried reasoning, “Endangering civilians isn’t going to make things easier.  You know that.” “You know, I’d love to talk about how you betrayed me.  How you stonewalled my lady… how you put Captain America in my place, as if he could ever be worthy of her.  But, I’m a little busy at the moment.”  Snapping his fingers, you jumped to your feet, grabbing for Loki’s outstretched hand.   The second your palm connected that feeling of floating overcame you once more.  This time you were ready for the roar of traveling through space by Loki’s magic, the push of meeting the ground, the curl of Loki’s body against yours.  Blinking, you opened your eyes on new scenery, the chill of a beautiful sea soaked morning breaking around you. Straightening the coat of his pristine suit, Loki smiled at you as his fingers wove between your own, “New Asgard.  My brother’s realm, now ruled by Valkyrie, by his abdication.  We need to find him.  He has a lot to answer for.” --- "Just what in the hell happened?  I thought I was very clear about avoiding this exact problem."   Pacing, hands firmly on his leather belted waist, Nick Fury growled at the bent head of Steve Rogers.  "Now Loki’s on the run, dragging your… Well, what is she exactly Captain?  Girlfriend?  Fiancé?  Mark? along for the ride." At those harsh words, Steve started, ready to focus his own anguish somewhere, anywhere.  Fury was as good a target as any, as far as Steve was concerned.  Pushing off the paving stones, he was stalled from rising by Natasha's firm hand and quiet words, "We have an idea-" "I don't want ideas.  Not from you two.  What I want are answers, Romanoff, and I want them now." Sitting on the emptied bench of the picnic table, still covered with your pretty tablecloth and jars of peonies, Natasha sighed, "I didn't have time to alert Steve.  Loki made it here first and… reconnected-" "Is that what we're calling it?"  Snapping, Nick glared from his good eye, his last name never more appropriate. Exhaling deeply, Natasha Romanoff squared her shoulders, "Sir, Loki… manipulated the circumstances." "Just what in the hell does that mean?" All three available eyes locked onto Steve, “What it means, Fury-” lifting his golden head with a jaw clenched tight, “- what it means, is that the son of a bitch showed up here and had his way with my woman. “After Loki… took advantage of her, I had him.  He was contained, here, in my shed.  It was modified with the restraints Tony provided with Thor’s direction.” “And still, he got away?”  Disbelief clouded every syllable from Fury.  That his two top agents had failed and so badly, had the normally stoic director steaming. Standing now, Steve was almost chest to chest with the man who’d been pulling the strings of this entire operation.  Natasha, watching closely, knowing that she would only be able to subdue one of them if it came to it, gently palmed the dagger concealed in her waist band.  Steve thrust forward, brushing past Fury before facing him once more, “Yea, Nick.  He did.  He got away.” “Do you know how?”  Fury’s fingers were curled around his pocket taser, just in case Captain America needed a jolt, reminding him of who was calling the shots here.  It wouldn’t do much except give Nick a head start, but with the Captain looking so rough and so raw, the SHIELD director would take any advantage available. “We believe that… he was set free.”  Natasha didn’t want to say the words.  You had let Loki go, that much she knew to be true, and she supposed that it made some sort of sense. Steve had been right all along.  You and Loki did have some cosmic connection that even time and distance couldn’t eliminate.  Intervening for the sake of Fury’s mission and Steve’s pining heart, Natasha had no qualms about why she’d guided you into a relationship, in fact, she still believed that he was a better man for you than Loki. But no.  No matter what Rogers did, you had never let go with him like you had with the younger son of Odin.  Not that you complained.  You had taken all of Natasha’s words of praise, her seemingly well intentioned advice, her flat out advocating for Steve in stride.   Sure, your friendship suffered for it.  Natasha, never having been one for close ties to anyone, had enjoyed the talking and gossiping.  It was nice to have a girl around the tower.  One who understood period cramps and cravings.  A person who would put on high heels and makeup for a night of dancing then suggest hoodies and shorts for watching Pride and Prejudice.  That was over now.  When she had been, well, frankly, overpowered by Loki and his new paralyzing weaponry, Natasha knew the plan for a peaceful capture of the prince was over.  Having seen the aftermath of your reunion with the space god, having seen Steve’s seething anger, the Black Widow felt her own ire spike. Didn’t you know how hard she had worked?  How tireless her efforts had been to keep you and Loki apart?  Just how invested she was in joining you and Steve together?  It was like you wanted to throw all of that away, squandering those bonding moments where you had become something more than a mission, those times when you were Natasha’s only real friend. Couldn’t you just go along with the plan, unknowing, quietly?  She knew you couldn’t, wouldn’t.  It wasn’t in your nature.  So, channeling that frustration into the cold facade that so many had seen just before they met their end, Natasha had to compartmentalize the “you” she cared about away from the “you” she was responsible for trailing.  Both had pissed her off. Now, hearing the gruff grumble of Director Fury bearing down on her, Natasha could only accept the berating tone of his hard words.  He wasn’t wrong.  She and Steve had fucked up royally, the whole mission was blown, and while Bucky had certainly aided in your escape, he was blameless collateral damage.  The consequences fell to you and the Captain.  Killing you was going to be hard for them both, but if it had to be done, so be it. Shrugging, Natasha started again, “Nick, we have a tracker on her.  We know that she and Loki made it to Cleveland, but he can’t get away from Earth without some aid.” “Well, that’s good to know, if only it was some new intelligence.  You’re tracking her?  Great!  Where is she now?  Don't know huh?  Well, she and Loki tele-ported from a city sidewalk, in front of me and hundreds of civilians, with no word on their next destination.  “And make no mistake.  Loki will find a way off of this planet and when that happens, there’ll be nothing else we can do.” “So what?  Let him go!  He’s won, Nick.  It’s over.”  Throwing himself down onto the bench, Steve’s dejected voice breaking, he slumped over his feet. “That’s not an option Cap.  Loki is more powerful now than he’s ever been.  You both read the reports.  He wasn’t just hanging around on Asgard.  No, Loki was negotiating peace between his native realm of Jotunheim and his adoptive home.  He was gifted with tools and technology that no human could hope to wield.  Earth ending stuff, Captain.” “Whatever plans you had of making peace are over now.  There’s no way Loki gives us any help… and why would he after all this?” “Rogers, I’ll do whatever I must to keep this planet and the creatures on it safe.  Loki is a threat to that, just by existing.  With his new powers, high placed connections and intergalactic royal title, he had the potential to be unstoppable.” Seething breath puffed out the chests of the two men standing toe to toe.  Machismo made Natasha want to vomit.  Men. “Look, I’ll go after them.  Steve, stay here, in case she reaches out.  I’ll take the quinjet and trace their path.”  Standing now herself, Natasha turned to the depressed super soldier, patting his arm, “Bucky’s still here.  I’ll let you know when I’ve found anything.” “No.  Nat, I can’t let you go alone.  It’s my fault, too.”  “You’re no good to me like this, Rogers.” “But, She’s-” Cutting him off, Natasha stepped closer to Nick, “I know, but you’re too involved.  If tough choices need to be made, can you?” Gulping hard, passing a rough hand over his face, Steve frowned, “I can do my duty, if that’s what you’re asking.” “Steve.”  Her tone said it all the words she wouldn't vocalize.  I don’t trust you, not now, not like this.  I don’t believe you will have my back at the cost of the woman you claim to love.  I don’t think you can do the job. Fury didn't allow her the chance to elaborate, jumping in with his definitive voice, “Natasha’s right, Rogers.  You’re staying right where you are, on the bench.  Romanoff and I are going to resolve this issue without any further problems.”  Half hearted, strength sapped, Steve raised his eyes to the leather clad figures before him, “Please.  Please, Nick… Nat.  Don’t hurt her.” “I promise, Steve.  I won’t.”  And in the second, all three knew she was lying.
--- Finding Thor’s shanty was easier than you expected.  A friendly fisherman was only too happy to point you in the right direction.  What you saw upon arrival was not entirely what you had expected when visiting Loki’s brother. It was a beat up looking cottage, surrounded by empty cases of cheap Midgardian beer, crumpled take out containers, and a collection of well fed seagulls situated near the edge of the village, “Ugh.  What a pig.” “Loki!  It’s… charming?”  Your admonishing whisper turned the statement into a question at the sight of Loki’s disgusted face.  For a second you just stood at Loki’s side, staring at the weather beaten front door, your hand clasped in his strong one. “It’s disgusting.” Agreeing with a small nod, “Um, yes.  Yes, it is.  But, this is your brother’s house and you said we needed to talk to him.  Step one is ringing his bell.” “No.  I won’t do it.” You had forgotten about this side of Loki.  Fastidious, precise and obstinate, Loki could cop an attitude that had the ability to drive someone crazy.  Someone like you. Over the last two years it had been easy to forget all the little things that made Loki prickly.  It was even easier to forgive him.  Since he’d left, you had looked at your life together through rose glasses, through a gentle fog of missing him, and those elements of your relationship that were less than perfect had been abandoned. Now, standing outside the hovel that Thor called a home, as a fresh day dawned over New Asgard, you were reminded of all those imperfect things that came with loving Loki.  A wave of need, love, and longing for him rolled over you.  All of those imperfections made you perfect for each other. Rising up on your toes you pressed a small kiss to Loki’s pout, taking the tall God by surprise, “What was that for?” Shyly grinning, you bit into your bottom lip, “I missed you… missed kissing you.” “Then perhaps you should come over here again?”  That was all the invitation you needed.  Stepping into Loki’s space, your chest resting against his own, you savored the nearness of him, as himself.  He wasn’t playing at being Steve.  Loki was here, he was with you, and if you weren’t mistaken his hands were drifting down your backside.  The rush of it, well, it was familiar and new at the same time.  How Loki seemed to inhale your breath, inhale you, as his mouth opened to accept your lips.  His gentle exhale, a moan, as his tongue licked over your own.  It was overwhelming.  It was wonderful. Stepping back, you started to pull away, only for Loki to wrap his arms around your waist, “Not so fast, darling.” Losing yourself, you focused solely on the firmness of his body, the weight of his hands on your hips, the intensity of Loki’s desire.  Intoxicating, heady, you leaned into those feelings.  Kissing Loki back, you tangled his hair in your hand, earning another one of those sultry sounds that made your legs weak.  How had you lived without the passion and pleasure he provided for so long? A smashing crash broke the quiet morning causing you to jump in Loki’s embrace, “What the hell was that?” Immediately on the defense, Loki pushed you behind him, crouching into a protective stance.  From over his broad shoulder you watched, worried about the new danger coming your way, unsure how to help your reactive lover.  Another rattle had Loki palming his dagger, anticipating an attack.  That’s when a raccoon, bigger than your childhood terrier, scuttled from under an overturned trash can carrying what looked like a half eaten slice of pizza in its mouth. “Appalling!  Mother would be modified!” Loki cursed as he offered you his hand, kicking away an empty glass bottle, "Why is he living like a dirty animal, surrounded by trash?  One would think they were back on Sakaar!"  “I don’t know what’s going on with Thor, but we came here for a reason.  Let’s get it over with, ok?” Loki shook his head, refusing to step any closer, “He’ll have to come out here.  I won’t go inside this… dilapidated shit box.” Sighing, “Fine.  Fine, I’ll do it.”   Stepping around a pile of broken electronics, you carefully picked your way to the front door, gracefully knocking on the splintering wood.  After an answerless few seconds, you tried again, rapping lightly with your knuckles before turning to flash Loki a small smile.  That’s when you noticed the striking woman striding towards you and your returned lover. “My, my… is that pretty Prince Loki I see?”  Even her voice was sexy, you thought, as the sarcastic words dripped from her full lips.  The swaggering stranger radiated cool, calm, sensual energy.  Otherworldly energy that made you feel mortal and boring.  You couldn’t help tugging your skirt straight and fluffing your hair as she got closer. “Ah… Valkyrie!  How are you?” Hugging her tightly when she opened her arms, Loki found that he was genuinely happy to see the fierce, battle tested warrior. Smirking at your man, she countered, “That’s King Valkyrie to you.  Your brother crowned me, or have you forgotten?” “On the contrary.  It seems like he finally realized what I’ve known all our lives.” “Which is what, exactly?” “He’s not fit to be the ruler of Asgard, obviously.” Drawing right up to Loki, hands on her hips, Valkyrie leveled her dark eyes at his, “What would you know about ruling, Mischief?” “Enough to know that you’re good at it.  Enough to know that I no longer want to be the King of Asgard.” “Is that so?  And what’s changed your mind?” At those skeptical words, Loki wound an arm around your waist, tugging you close, “I’ve got more… important concerns these days.” Looking you over with her shrewd, searching gaze, but speaking to Loki, “And she likes you?  Are you sure?” Laughing, the sound deep and rich, “As much as you like fighting and drinking.” “I hardly drink anymore.  As King I have mead only on important occasions, I have to keep my wits about me the rest of the time.” Sharing a laugh, the two shared another small hug before Valkyrie turned to you directly, “Alright.  Who’s this then?” Loki started to respond but you cut him off, extending a hard towards the newly crowned King of Asgard, “Uh, I can answer for myself, thank you, Loki.  Valkyrie is it?  Nice to meet you.  And, yes, I love Loki.” Making a face that was part disgust, part pride, Valkyrie smirked, “Love?  Oh no.  Hasn’t anyone told you yet?  Loving the Odinson boys is hard on a girl.” Pulling Loki in for a small kiss, taking him by surprise, “I’ll take my chances.” Shrugging nonchalantly, “Suit yourself.”  Focusing on Loki once more, Valkyrie shifted on her feet, “Listen, if you’re looking for Thor, he’s not here.” “Oh?  And where exactly is the lovable oaf?” Hitching a thumb over her shoulder, pointing up the hill, “At the palace… the new palace, that is.  You can come and, please, don’t forget your girlfriend.” Falling in line behind the King, Loki couldn’t help but add, “You know Val, I think I liked you better when you were drunk.” Snorting in response, “And I know I liked you better when I was drunk, weird right?” Bringing up the rear, your own sarcastic comment dying on your throat when the Palace of New Asgard came into view.  Banners of gold shimmered in the light of the rising sun, flapping in the breeze of the young morning, beckoning you closer.  You hugged Loki’s arm tighter, excited and exhilarated by the sight before you. “Home is a people, not a place.  Those were some of my father’s last words to Thor and I… and while I can never take you to the place where I grew up, this… this is the home of my people.” “Loki… it’s beautiful!” Valkyrie, stopping so you could both catch up, “It’s getting there.  Thor’s been a huge help.  Come on, let's show you around the palace and let your brother know you’re here.” ---To Be Continued!
