Be Careful What You Wish For

Tucker could make fun of him for not reading comics all he wanted, but Danny really did enjoy reading them. He just didn't have much time to after the Accident, with all of the ghost attacks.

He had the time now, he supposed. There were no ghost attacks anymore, not with Vlad "taking care of them".

He was almost scared to find out what the Fruit Loop meant by that.

Danny sighed, staring up at the bare white ceiling of his bedroom. He missed the stars he'd had stuck to the ceiling of his room back home. Because Vlad's mansion wasn't home, was it? It wasn't ever going to be, no matter what.

Again, he began to think of the heroes he'd always admired, the ones that he had always fantasized about when he was younger, as if they would fly out of the comic books and take him and Jazz away, take them to parents that would actually pay attention to them. Now, Danny would take his parents not paying attention to him over them being dead.

Danny sighed, his eyes slipping closed. He wasn't tired, but he wanted to pretend that he was somewhere warm and safe, anywhere but here.

"Man, I wish superheroes were real... I could really use one right now."

Then came a gentle whisper in his ear, one that promised the safety and warmth he was desperate for. "Your wish is my command, little Prince."

Danny jolted upright, but it was too late. One moment, he was sitting in a bed that wasn't his own, could never be, no matter how hard he tried to pretend it was, and the next, he was sitting in a field, cornstalks swaying gently in the warm breeze.

Where... was he?

I thought that it was stupid that Brandon Sanderson had the narrator of Tress of the Emerald Sea call all the unnamed sailors "Dougs" when he could have just called them, you know, sailors. But then I started using the term. Turns out having a word for "yes, we know that realistically all these individuals have unique identities and personalities, but they're not the focus of this story so we're going to treat them as faceless background characters" is surprisingly useful.

#random thought of the day #because i was thinking way too deep into the portrayal of the nurses in artful dodger #and getting a bit worked up at how they're shoved aside (as usual for medical dramas) and not treated as real people #and then i was like 'calm down they're just dougs in this story it's okay'#(and then the next ep had one of the nurses call the girl a witch and i was like 'oh they remembered they have feelings. good work')#(and i felt even better)#incidentally despite my one and only post about that show being an angry nursing rant i am enjoying it #the girl's stupidly modern face and extreme entitlement are annoying #and i did skip part of ep ii because i'd just prefer not to watch relics be the butt of the joke #(even though they looked to be heading a slightly-less-offensive route than expected)#and ep 3 is going more soapy and melodramatic and less fun #but i do like that they have a 'young idealist versus experienced fatalist' dynamic going #soundtrack is fun #anachronism stays mostly on the fun side of the scale #fagin is shockingly amusing (i had expected more of a 'creepy blackmailer holding the past over his head' instead of 'chaotic criminal dad'#and i like that they're showing some restraint #(the deciding factor in watching it was my extreme surprise that a historical original was tv-14 instead of ma)#so we'll see how long it lasts but for now i'm not regretting the decision to watch

i'm so goddamn frustrated, i'm trying to replace the film in my polaroid for literally the first time ever and it's just refusing to work. i followed the instructions exactly for how to refill it and eject the film cover and it just doesn't fucking do anything. i replaced the batteries, i even got out a second case of film in case the first one was damaged or something and probably wasted both of them because this damn camera just won't do anything. why does everything i get excited about immediately fail??

#not to mention how i was so excited about my trip up to MA to see sub-radio and now my mom keeps changing the plan #and making the trip shorter and shorter because she can't trust her fucking manchild husband to be in charge of the house for a couple days #i was really really looking forward to having a couple days away from my stupid apartment and my stupid roommates #but at the last second she decided we're gonna drive up in the middle of the fucking night on sunday #and leave as soon as possible after my concert #even though that much driving (it's a six hour trip both ways) in that span of time is absolutely going to leave me miserably sick #this is why i need to learn to drive. because she cant be fucking trusted #when i was in high school and needed her to drive me places a lot i would literally have to tell her that #events started a half hour or more earlier than they actually did because that was the ONLY way she would EVER get me there on time.#vent post #i'm just so disappointed. everything i get excited for always turns out like this.

i really hope they expand on how ahsoka training sabine worked prior to the show. like, since when did sabine want to be a jedi? sure she respected kanan and ezra, and they taught her how to swing the darksaber, but i wouldn't think she'd be too eager to pick up jedi culture, even after the events of rebels. what can ahsoka teach her, beyond the philosophy and martial skills?

besides that, during rebels, didn't ahsoka point out that she didn't super consider herself a jedi, since she walked away from the order? why did she want to mentor sabine in the first place? so far she seems very... stoic in this series, which i'm not in love with
