I made these sketches last night

Let me break this down

I think most people remember Oliver’s backstory but I just wanted to give a refresher lol

Born on September 18th as Kelsea Maria Thompson, she was orphaned at a very early age and was taken to an orphanage somewhere out in the countryside of Oklahoma where she would stay until the age of six when she gets taken away by scientists to be experimented on in a lab

Over time, the scientists noticed that Experiment 189KT4 was growing more hostile towards staff in the laboratory and most other experiments save for another child who gotten similar treatment to her (that will be explained in a later post). Enough was enough and she found a way out of the lab when she was 17, taking Experiment 64A18 along with her (more on that soon)

After escaping the lab, Kelsea gave the experiment she saved an actual name; Abigail. She didn’t know the first thing about taking care of a child but little Abbie still seen her as an older sister figure who brought her to safety but she understood that Kelsea wouldn’t be the one who would be her new adoptive parent (more on this will be revealed in another post). Kelsea would spend the next year saving up enough money to get her and Abigail away from their past for good by taking the first flight they could afford to make their way to Toronto, Canada. This was when she was Kelsea no longer as she had her name legally changed to Oliver soon after she moved. She cut her hair short and dyed a streak in her hair. A couple years later, Oliver is invited to a party at Julie’s house which also caught Abigail’s interest. Oliver noticed this and had Abbie tag along. She would stay close to Abigail at the party until she noticed a familiar face across the room. The girl of or from her dreams. Oliver went up to her while Abbie went to get a drink and decided to talk this girl who caught her attention. Oliver was terrible at talking to new people since she had spent much of her life confined in a lab so she started awkwardly talking about Sonic the Hedgehog of all things and that seemed to be enough to catch the other girl’s attention. It was when Oliver asked her if she was real that she would’ve became skeptical which would lead to Oliver leaving to find Abigail again. When she eventually found Abbie, Oliver happened to run into Julie and asked her about the one girl she talked to earlier. Oliver later learned that the girl’s name was Ramona Flowers. Ramona was from New York City, she moved to Toronto after a bad breakup, and she delivered DVDs for Netflix. Julie warned Oliver not to date Ramona but Oliver ultimately ignored this and went back to her apartment with Abigail in tow. Oliver later when to her computer and ordered a movie that both her and Abbie would like before sitting at the front door. Abigail questioned why Oliver chose to sit and wait for the DVD to arrive but Oliver assured that it shouldn’t take that long. Oliver later heard the doorbell ringing and went to answer the door, surely seeing Ramona standing there. Oliver spoke with Ramona and questioned how she had seen her in her dreams as Ramona explained that there was a subspace highway in Oliver’s mind. Oliver was still slightly confused but understood the logic behind it as she later asked Ramona out and Ramona eventually agreed

Blah, blah, blah… This part is about the same at canon and I think I should jump to the more interesting part

Oliver grows quite attached to Ramona as well as a boy that the two grew found of named Thomas and the three settled down together and they would eventually have their daughter Anova. Oliver and Abigail still keep in touch with each other even after Abbie found her forever family (that will be revealed once I get a reference for her done). Abigail still views Oliver as her older sister and she visits often, growing a close bond with Anova

And hey, I’ve leaked a bit of information about a new character I thought of on a whim while I was asleep last night too

I’ll work on a reference later on and patch up some of the bits of lore that I personally decided to leave out as to not completely spoil the surprise before I make the reference sheet

I didn't expect these to take off so much!

There were some things that didn't fit on the first sketch page (and I had *a lot* of people asking for the extras) so I wanted to try and get some of these out before I moved on to other headcanons about teens/adults.

I also kinda wanna toss up some for other races too :eyes:

Howdy Train Your Dragon??

HEAVILY INSPIRED from @tragisbawls western AU and also I believe that one “Howdy Train Your Dragon” post by @wardenofdragons

please let me know if I’ve made any mistakes in crediting but these guy’s posts were my main inspiration fr

enjoy some WIPs, currently I’m making them for reference so I can draw the gang doing some scenes

might have gone a bit insane over the festive season and fallen head first into this western AU. basically everything is the same but instead of Vikings it’s cowboys! I’m gonna colour these all and want to do more art/drawings of this too bc it has been occupying my thoughts lol

- set in a fictional Old West, similar to how the canon treats Viking lore and accuracy, assume this is the same 😂

- in this AU, Hiccup loses his leg before he meets Toothless in some sort of stampede/horse-related accident, which makes Stoic, the cheif of the town, more protective of him/not want him to go near them

- Hiccup finds Toothless as a wild mustang, trapped in a gorge. Hijinx ensue, Hiccup saves him, and they bond.

-Hiccup and Fishlegs live in the same town. Astrid, Lout, Ruff and Tuff are part of a group of travelling cowboys from out of town or somethin lol. Something happens and Legs and Hic have to travel with them for a bit. Haven’t worked everything out yet but if people have ideas feel free to let me know!

- Ruff and Tuff are in charge of the supplies wagon and they often confuse Barf & Belch with their arguing. The poor horses go in different directions or one of them might stop while the other keeps going 😭

- Meatlug is usually seen pulling a little wagon with extra supplies/Fishlegs rides in the wagon sometimes when they go on adventures so she ends up being the slowest in the group, similar to how she is the slowest of the gang’s dragons

- Hookfang is an Arabian horse and he has a really firey temper and has a similar relationship to Snotlout as in the canon. Snotlout made Hookfang rear up on his hind legs once, but Snotlout fell off and Hookfang left him in the dust 💀

- Astrid is the leader of the cowboys. Stormfly has little braids in her mane as that’s Astrid’s way of showing affection.
