Thinking about Dewdrop and Rain tonight, but in a very specific kind of way. Let's go.

-Dew is a chunky skater shoes type of person, whereas Rain is a converse hightops in all kinds of weather type of person.

I don't wholly know how to elaborate on this other than to say that they both would fall into the category of "punk", but on different ends of the spectrum, albeit not too far apart.

Rain gives off more of the classic shy boy with flippy hair who wears t-shirts over long sleeved shirts, but Dew is the "I'm going to wear a shirt that is three sizes too big with tripp pants." sort, ya know?

Skater boy meet sweater paws emo boy kind of energy.

...but transfer that into grow adults without the haze of teenage angst and drama anddd... they'd still dress like that if they could, and sometimes still do.

-For no reason whatsoever, I think Dew could name almost every Sanrio character correctly, but somehow forgets what Hello Kitty's name is.

He called her "Goodbye Doggy" once, but that was on purpose to baffle the others.

On the topic of Sanrio characters, Rain forgot the names of the Star Twins one time and Dew got offended like, "YOU DON'T KNOW KIKI AND LALA???" sources say he did this purely to pick a fight.

-Dew is either the "I carry everything I own in my pockets." type of person or the person who carries a backpack everywhere, because you never know when you're going to need -insert anything really- in your day to day life.

Rain is a "I will bring a bag if it matches my outfit." person or "Someone else will carry my things for me." person.

Dew carries it... and like forty other bits and bobs including, but not limited to, any other bullshit the other ghouls have left behind.

And lastly;

-Dew has kits, but nobody really knows he does, because he doesn't really bring them around the other ghouls a lot, not because he doesn't trust them/think they'd be good influences on them, but because his kits would probably be bored out of their minds in a room full of adults.

He's very good at keeping them out of the public eye, and wants them to live normal lives.

He's a good dad, despite others assuming he can't take care of himself at times, let alone a couple of tiny ghouls.

Rain doesn't have kits, but he does have a betta fish named Frank.

Frank is a dick.

Rain loves him.

Gabriella Headcanons in Nanny

Gabriella is very vocal around her friends. She's loud and sometimes accidentally interrupts her friends when they're in the middle of saying something, but she gets too excited she can't help herself. She likes talking about her interests and can ramble on for hours

When she's older, her interest space out. So instead of just princesses and soccer, it turns to: kpop, sanrio, warrior cats, kirby, monster high, and possibly wants to do another sport but she loves soccer too much

Loves the color purple. Absolutely adores it. (I love the color purple too it's literally the best color ever). I've pictured her quince and her dress is a large, flowing purple dress with rhinestones (like my quince dress was teehee)

Gabriella is very attached to reader. After finding out about their relationship, she feels like its okay to view her officially as a mom. She snuggles her more, holds her hand, follows her around-basically the same thing she's always done but with more confidence ahaha

She doesn't plan on getting another lizard after Butterscotch. She doesn't mind getting a cat or dog, but never a lizard. Butterscotch will probably die around like 20 (maybe longer since Butterscotch isn't a normal lizard), and Gabriella will have her cremated. Getting another lizard would feel like replacing the pet that she basically grew up with and she refuses to do that.

Her dream job is to become a princess warrior, but she'll eventually find the passion of animals (more exotic animals) and become a veterinarian. She'll probably specialize in reptiles or even work at a zoo. Either a veterinarian or a dog trainer or anything relating to animals.

Gabriella is very passionate about her interests or the people she cares about. She likes to go on and on about, say for example, Twice. Her favorite members, whose photo cards she collects the most, etc. For the people she loves, she enjoys spending time with them and either buying them presents (when she's older and has a job. just because miguel is rich doesn't mean he'll keep handing everything to gabi) or making handmade gifts straight from the heart

Reader influenced her a lot. She looks up to her so much. Her kindness, how she takes the time to explain things to her, how she allows her to be upset and express herself. She helps her learn a lot of things about life, like how to handle certain situations at school or to listen to her body about food. Reader allows Gabriella to think for herself so she can be more independent (parenting the same way as Miguel)

Gabriella might be spoiled, but she's taught to be independent and how to speak for herself. If she wants something, she may ask but can get things for herself (she can ask for help if she can't do it). She helps learn how to cook, do her own laundry, etc. Basic life skills. When she's older and wanting expensive things (like an ipad) she does have to work for it. So she does chores, focuses on keeping her grades up, and understands that there's rules in owning an ipad (miguel and reader don't want her to become an ipad kid or leave her unsupervised to things that could potentially harm her, so parental controls are put in place and such)

Dana might've hurt her emotionally, but Reader is the one who eventually heals her. She filled the absence and more. Gabriella sees her more as a mom than Dana. She trusts her and follows her advice. Reader basically shapes her into the person she'll grow up to be.

Gabriella gets attached very easily, which means she can get hurt very easily. Her therapist managed to figure this out and helped her on her attachment issues.

Gabriella overall is a sweet kid with a big heart. She's loved and cared for and she has a bright future ahead of her.

I'm the oldest of the band. I'm a bit of a self-proclaimed older sister to the others and I feel super protective of them. When I'm not making music with the band you can usually find me working on my comic or some other artistic pursuit. I'm a chronically exhausted college student. You can tell what songs I wrote by them having a more jazzy or melancholy tone to them or just being bat-shit off the walls insane. heeseung is very creative, he knows how to make a situation turn around and knows how to pull out something completely unexpected. that is definitely a trait for a poison type pokemon. he also seems to be very hard headed, he is confident but sometimes it is too much, so he may be a poison-dragon type!

by process of elimination, heeseung is totally eternatus! not to mention, his moves would definitely be very unpredictable and dangerous. since eternatus is an alien that can make holes in spacetime, this is pretty fitting!

ace of swords, the hermit, nine of wands rx., the hanged man

jay is a very intelligent and secure person, he is extremely mature and seems to balance his head and his heart well. jay is also in tune with the world around him and seems to be able to connect with people very easily. which i think it very fitting for a psychic pokemon! it also seems that jay as a pokemon is extremely protective.

deoxys is a great fit given these conditions. deoxys is incredibly smart, being able to change form depending on what it needs. a lot of jay's moves could be something underneath the surface, which fits deoxys' telepathy shown in the anime!

jake is someone who cannot be held down, he is independent and jumps towards change and his own rules. suffice to say, he may be a little, if not a lot, mischevious. since i also got the emperor he is most likely only darkness, there is no need for him to have another type if he is already strong with one.

the only legendary pokemon that is strictly dark is darkrai! as i mentioned before, there really is no need for darkrai, or jake in this scenario, to have a dual type if he is already strong with one. darkrai is frequently described as the strongest dark type pokemon.

the wheel of fortune, the fool, the emperor

sunghoon is very stubborn about tradition, most of his decisions are based on his past and romanticizing the past. from this i believe that sunghoon would most likely be a dragon type. he would most likely be a dual type dragon-steel, as he can be resilient to what does not align with his beliefs, it can seem lik denial.

the only dragon-steel legendary is dialga, a member of the creation trio. dialga is very strong, being able to control time which fits nicely if sunghoon is heavily influenced by time related themes such as the past, present, and future.

sunoo is very hasty, it feel impatient but he seems to think or at least have a good idea about what is happening. sunoo also seems to be someone who moves very fast, but still, it seems to work out for him in the end. this best suits a water type pokemon. as for dual types, he most likely does not have one.

unlike the other members, there are a few pokemon that meet these conditions. to narrow it down, the background behind sunoo as a pokemon has something to do with fresh beginnings after a painful end. based on this suicune is the best option, since it is said to purify water!

jungwon seems to be someone who is very determined to work and fight towards what he thinks is right, he works for his own morals. he is also very aggressive when he does want something. his main type would probably be fighting. he can also seem to be a little stagnant and not want to change or back down, so his other type could be steel.

although zamazenta also meets these conditions, cobalion is described to radiate the airs of a leader and it is also categorized as an iron will pokemon. therefore, jungwon is most similar to cobalion.

the way niki speaks may be a little dark, in a playful way. not to mean he is automatically a dark type, but it can be very sarcastic. he is a very intense and smart person, he follow his own ideas even if it can seem off-putting to some people. overall, he is independent without any shame. without a doubt niki is a ghost type, he can also be a dragon type since he trusts himself very well.

this automatically narrows niki down as giratina. similar to dialga, giratina is also another member of the creation trio. giratina lives in distortion world, somewhere that is foreign and warps everything we may commonly know. giratina also can control antimatter.

what were the biggest influences on your art style?

Oh goodness, this is a easy one for my answer to become 8 different tangents

Art style is just an artist's comfort zone so the answer is really just, other artists. whether that was Little Bowties looking at speedpaints and tutorials (My old blog had a whole stash of resources ways to draw hands, perspectives, comic framing, anything I thought I may ever need in the future) or me just looking at someone's art and going "hey I wanna try something like this". I'd attempt something new and it sometimes affect my art going forward and sometimes it doesn't.

You could probably ask me about a specific part of my art and I'd be able to answer where I got it from, though some I'd rather not say due to the artist behind them turning out to not be very good people, a lot of those from my early days too...

The stuff I played and watched also influenced me in the sense that it's the source of my big catalogue of little design traits, especially for monsters and faces, some are series I still regularly check (Kirby, Pokemon, Sanrio..) some are stuff I haven't thought of much lately but still exist in my subconscious (Adventure Time, Monica and Friends, Cookie Run...) and then there's the ones that simply are very niche. even if I saw it in passing or in a video, it's in the sandbox now

It can get hard to recollect stuff sometimes, like, for a while I couldn't think of any examples for rabbit mouths being stylized as ('x') despite knowing it's a thing (now I have Miffy)

So, Day 24 of Unitober calls for a Unikitty OC, huh?

I’ve got plenty of that up my sleeve!

Here, you see all of my, um… “main” OCs, plus some guys I haven’t introduced on my Big Bright World side blog yet. They’re all happily doing what they love.

These guys mean so much to me, and they’ve been with me for a long time. Some of them have gone through BIG changes over the years. Others haven’t changed all that much.

A few of them are influenced by characters from Minecraft Story Mode (a game series that’s also very near and dear to my heart) because I was hyperfixating on it before Unikitty premiered.

Germafrost was actually my first Unikitty OC. I created him before the show officially premiered. I think he was my first because in late 2017, it snowed in Louisiana for the first time in, like, 12 years or so. (Yeah, it doesn’t snow down here. We went outside to play in it, but then we caught the flu.) He and his family have gone through HUGE changes that are too long to describe here. In the bottom right corner, you’ll see his little brother, Neapolitan.

When I started writing Broken and Frozen, Swanna, Lee, Val, Ribbon and Sgt. Wolf were created. I took inspiration from Jack, Nurm, StacyPlays, Stampy Cat and Stella from MC:SM respectively.

Swanna was, you know, designed to be this brave adventurer, and Lee was her closest friend. I decided to give Swanna a taste in fashion not too long ago because I wanted her to be this stylish, graceful, elegant type of adventurer. I’ve always considered her to become an official part of the gang after the events of B&F. Dr. Fox is Unikitty’s resident scientist, Hawkodile is her bodyguard, Richard is her royal advisor, and Puppycorn is her charming little bro. Swanna will be Unikitty’s tourism agent.

Sgt. Wolf’s knight troop originally started out as an army with their own military base, but I felt a LOT better making them a knight brigade instead.

Val and Ribbon were inspired by this one scene in the first episode of MC:SM Season 2, where Stampy Cat and StacyPlays (yes, them! did I stutter?) are selling sweets for Founding Day. They get in a debate of cake vs. pumpkin pie, and you as Jesse can help them decide which to pick. Val and Ribbon did something similar to this in B&F, where they sold ice cream or sherbet for Unikitty’s summer festival. Recently, because I thought it was too similar to that part of MC:SM, I changed it so that Ribbon and Val run a gift box shop. I mean, they themselves are a sibling pair of gift boxes, so…

In March of 2018, I created Pepper. In my very first idea for her, her name was Batty, but there’s already a Unikingdom citizen with that name. Pepper is my persona for Unikitty, meaning that she’s the OC who represents me. I’d seen somebody on DeviantArt make a persona for themself, so I was inspired to make one of my own. Pepper’s real name used to be Jackie, but I changed it to Jessica later on. Her nickname comes from the character in Annie.

I don’t remember exactly when I created Imogen or Piano, but it was sometime in 2018. Imogen was going to be a Doom Lord named Master Daze, whose job was to spread confusion. But, I then decided that Master Frown and Brock needed a friend. Imogen’s twin sister, Estelle (the girl in the sailboat), was originally named Sarah. Eventually, I made Master Cupid. And the reason her name is Master Cupid is because “Master Amatonormativity” is a mouthful and too long of a name. (That was a joke.)

Piano is named after the Sanrio character (in memory of my Sanrio obsession in first grade), and she was going to be from a kingdom that my friend created. But, she’s part ice cream, so it would make more sense if she were from Ice Cream Land. I’d planned for Germafrost to hire her as his advisor, but in current canon, she’s been serving his family for a long time.

Kira was created in July 2018. She and the other fairies were going to live in Ice Cream Land, but I decided it would be a better idea if they lived in Botania instead. (Botania and Marevi parallel each other. They both value the life that exists in the world. One place is on land, and the other is under the sea. They’re strong allies, too. So, it would make sense for Kira and the fairies to parallel the mermaids in Marevi.)

Pheasala (the pheasant/salamander hybrid shouting into the megaphone) was inspired by one of my closest internet friends. Her name was at first Mishi and then Misyanta. I eventually decided to base her name on what she is, like some characters in the show. I forgot when I first made her, but I do remember that Dusty (the horse examining a fossil) was made in August of 2018. She was Dr. Fox’s best friend in school, but now, she’s just some girl that Dr. Fox and Dr. Bunny knew in their classes.

In late 2018, Maya (the flower girl doing math), Annie (the squirrel doing volunteer work) and Ringo (the tap-dancing lemur) were created. I made them up as, like, a friend group for Puppycorn ‘cause I was inspired by Rock Friend. These days, they’re kids that Pepper hangs around. Annie was gonna love cooking, but I later gave that passion to Cream. So, what she loves doing is helping others and solving problems. She’s also named after the protagonist of Annie.

In January 2019, my favorite Unikitty OCs I’ve ever made, the Seagang, were created. Cream wasn’t gonna be a part of their group, but I didn’t want him to feel left out. In past versions, he looked like a realistic seahorse.

Spike had this whole thing of him being a half-kraken demon, but that backstory basically made him a male version of Raven from Teen Titans. (In his earliest version, he was.) Plus, him being part sea urchin fits his name better. He’s always had a talent for singing his entire time in existence.

Marcella, or Butterpearl, had this phase where she was gonna be Brazilian-coded, but she’s not. She looked similar to the gold nugget pleco, a fish that lives in the Amazon river system. But, gold nugget plecos are Amazon river fish that bottom-feed, and I didn’t do my research on Brazil or the Portuguese language properly. Her real name wasn’t gonna be Marcella. It was gonna be the Portuguese word for butter, while her last name was going to be the Portuguese word for pearl. Also, Marevi wasn’t originally called Marevi, and I don’t want to talk about what it used to be.

Iris and Lotus are here to represent all of the Petalstones. All of them except for Marigold were created in, like, April of 2019. Marigold was created about a month or two later.

Trey was also made sometime in 2019, and he’s inspired by an old friend of mine. He was gonna be an alien named Drei before I changed him into an elf named Trey.

Snowfox, the arctic fox in the mask going on a nature walk at the bottom, is a collaboration between me and my Wattpad friend. She, too, dates back to 2019.

And there you have it, folks- the evolution of my Unikitty OCs! There were some other characters who I tried to make, but they eventually were deleted because they weren’t working for me. But I don’t think I’m ever gonna get rid of the guys you saw above. I love them all so much. ❤️

♡ My 2023 retrospective: egl version ♡ PART 5/9

September

The first lolita-related thing that happened was that I received by Taobao order!

I was really happy with the lavender and white wristcuffs, ring and candy hair accessories: they look good together, are well or decently made, and they match my AP jsk perfectly. You'll see it very soon. I was disappointed in the bloomers, which are of a really thin material, not stretchy, and very small. I can wear them but they're uncomfortable. I will probably give them to someone else and buy a new pair. The socks, necklace and eyelashes were okay. You probably already know them. The white bows were a gift from a seller. Oh, and you can barely see it but I also got a ice cream ring that I plan to use with my Milky Planet skirt or some other sweet coord.

Talking about Milky Planet, I also received the Milky Planet headbow and I regretted choosing to buy it in sax (I wanted to use it with my Sugary Carnival OP that you can see in the picture, which is, in fact, sax, but a lot lighter and less saturated). I should have got the yellow one like a normal personal (my skirt is yellow).

It was still incredibly hot in September, though, so I definitely couldn't wear a blouse. I did end up wearing lolita anyway, because it was time to attend the local con, as I wanted to meet my friends and the guest of honor Igarashi Yumiko (she made Candy Candy, Anne of Green Gables, and other extremely important shoujo manga that influenced lolita fashion too).

This is the coord that I wore. It was inspired by her work. The JSK I'm wearing is Sweet Ribbon Strawberry Switching JSK by Angelic Pretty.

And she said I was cute and wanted to take a photo with me!!!

These are the things that I got:

I missed the second day of the con because I went to a job interview which was, funnily enough, held at the same space where the con was happening (I didn't get the job though).

On the third day I wore this super cute coord (with the accessories I bought from taobao) and went back again! The JSK is Angelic Pretty's Dream Drop JSK.

It ended up being one of my favorite coords of the year, even though it's nothing special. But I felt good and even pretty in it and it's now eternally tied to this pleasant feeling. I think that us lolitas tend to forget that clothes are supposed to not only look good, or to help us forget about how ugly our life can be, but we're also supposed to actually wear them and feel good while wearing them. If we always wear clothes that are too tight and uncomfortable we will connect those things to lolita and in the end that's what lolita will mean for us. I want to remember the joy and the physical sensation of wearing cute clothes and walking around in them having fun and being myself, and cherish them forever. Also I like how I edited this pics (but they're not heavily edited, so that's another plus for me).

Look at her, she's definitely one of us.

Also during this month I celebrated Talk Like a Pirate Day by wearing a pirate-inspired outfit. Though it wasn't a lolita one, I was wearing some lolita accessories and I liked how he looked with my bow.

October

In October I received my first ever order from Akatako, and one of the things I got is this Tama key holder (on the right). Even though the girl in this artwork is not wearing lolita, Tama is one of the most well-known artists that consistently draws lolitas. Sorry about the postcard on the left, I don't have a photo of just the key holder. It's still cute and consistent with what I post on my blog though.

It was the warmest October of my life and we even risked wearing short sleeves for Halloween.

I went to one of our local meets at the beginning of the month. @puredeathwish was there too! The theme was Sanrio characters and I obviously picked Cinnamoroll. As you can see, I was wearing Sugary Carnival. I have a love/hate relationship to this dress, as I bought it on preorder when it first released back in the day (I was like 15 then and I'm 31 now) and it was my favorite lolita piece ever for many years. Eventually I wore it too much and I started hating it. I think it faded over time and I don't know if I still like it or not, but it has too much sentimental value to let it go.

I'm a little bit of a Cinnamoroll fangirl, sorry.

so bc i complain abt hating the series my faves are from im trying to think of why. so i can try and handle these problems

-dv: everything is so samey. the cafes always have the same characters, thats when i realized it. its what sells for the game too. angsty backstories where the mothers can never do wrong (even when they do), the attractive characters are always sexyman/sympathetic, and "ugly"er characters are always less sympathetic or villified. its so fucking boring. its like, if antonio and ricky weren't there it wouldn't be a thing id consume. itd be like, if i saw someone like geisha or wu chang on my feed id be like "oh neat" but nothing more than that. not to mention the fandom, their obsession with shipping and superficial things, and just their really like. "if you dont fit into xyz group i will harass you nonstop" nasty attitudes

g o: this one hurts the most but i feel like its just lost its magic to me. i skip events now more than not, i barely play except for logins. heck, like a "oh somewhat interesting" i will cling to bc its fucking hard to get invested in any character in this game. heck, this universe. they added a chaldean doctor character in the latest story and i just couldnt help thinking "why is her design so much more glitzy and showy than others and never given an in universe explanation". it just feels like it was a different game than i started playing. i played and followed this game for a fun, shenanigans story, but one that takes its characters, no matter who they are, seriously and its illustrators are allowed to give them love. now it just feels like a washed-up cash grab with no care for its characters except to generate more hype from a very selective audience. like i miss the funny sanrio collabs, the themed cafes with recent story characters, the lawson collabs? its just really....depressing i guess

g-f: i think the problem i have with this game is the same problem i have w a certain movie, the creators have too much of a bias against certain characters. like the fucking description will say "x smiled eeeevilly, theyre a villain, you cant like them wahhh" and its fucking pathetic. but its clearly whats making the big bucks and fan acclaim so theyre just doing more of it. that + the "oh player character you're so op" that happens in every event. esp the crossovers. i just feel bad for them bc they are such a bad representation of the actual series (coughcoughonepiececougcough). on ig a more serious note theres also the "funny character actually is funny bc of x trauma inserted to make them sexy" which is just despicable and disgusting on so many levels. i dont think it needs an explanation for why its awful but for some reason the fans love it

f-h: honestly this game is a really middle of the road meh one. i think its just meh. i dont like a lot of the "protagonist aligned" characters bc i find their actions really scummy and despicable (theres too many to name) but at the same time its still in bite sized enough pieces, and that kinda thing of supposedly sympathetic characters being nasty and uninteresting/uncompelling is mostly par for course for f-h tbh. i think if theres any big flaw its the fandom, but thats not necessarily the game itself. it is very influenced by the fandom unfortunately and "meme" interpretations unfortunately end up becoming canon (we dont talk abt the b2 retcon that was awful)

Do you have any specific artistic influences?

This question is actually difficult because I have MANY artistic influences! I'm always interested in trying out techniques that I see in others' art to see what sticks to my own. As far as specific artists go, I really look up to Kylee Henke, Chikuto, MasaeAnela...the list goes on and on! :>

Most usually I'm pretty heavily influenced by my favorite series at the time: so right now it's TWGOK, but in the past it's been Detective Conan, Tales Games, Inuyasha, etc.

For style influence, chibi work and cute anime is usually a go to. Sanrio, Animal Crossing, Paper Mario, TWGOK (again, it's very cute) - though if I'm looking for a different feel, I can look at other sources too like Professor Layton, pixel art, Tim Burton, etc.

Any favourite childhood books?

I actually didn't read too much as a kid @v@ I do remember one book series though that I've never seen ANYONE talk about and that's Chris d'Lacey's The Fire Within books. I got the first few at the good ol' Scholastic Book Fair and then bought the rest up to The Fire Eternal (apparently there's a Fire World book too but I don't recall reading that??). I don't remember much about it other than the characters craft little dragons from clay and if they have uhhhh a pure heart (or something?) the dragons actually come to life and are kinda like little familiars. The main dragon I remember is Gadzooks. I also remember reading all of the third book, Fire Star, in one day in bed and CRYING my eyes out at the end of it xD

What's your favourite ice cream flavour?

Gosh, that's a hard one. I really like orange creamsicles but idk if that counts as a flavor of basic ice cream :x Honestly I may have to go with just Vanilla. I don't like a lot of stuff loaded in my sweets nowadays - plain and simple is my go to :>

It was entirely by chance that you had met this volleyball star. A case of right place right time. You had decided to visit Argentina for a while, wanting to visit different places throughout the world.

Oikawa had just finished his practice session with the rest of the Argentinian team, wanting nothing more than to visit the local shop before heading to his apartment and sleeping. After all, it had been a long few hours that have left him exhausted. It was as he was reaching for a bottle of water that he accidentally touched your hand that was reaching for the drink next to it.

The male apologised for the awkward moment. He was about to carry on with his day until he noticed how attractive you were. Black hair with dyed blue strands at the front, tattoos peaking through your clothes, and piercings. You may have not been the type the setter would usually go for but now he was questioning whether he actually liked alternative girls.

You waved off the apology before trying your hardest to reply in fluent Spanish. Toru noticed that you were struggling and so had moved his language to English to make it easier on you. He was thankful that he had to learn English as well as Spanish, because it now meant he could talk to you more efficiently.

You were surprised when the male had started speaking English but appreciated it. After all, you wanted to talk to this boy more. So by the drinks of the shop, you both talked about anything that came to mind. At the end, Oikawa had asked you out on a date for the next day and had gained your number. It was a good day.

The first date was spent at a lovely cafe that Oikawa would visit often when he had free time. The whole experience was perfect and you had agreed to go on a second date.

2 months later, you were both in a relationship and everything was perfect. You had moved to Argentina to be with Oikawa and you couldn't be happier.

This relationship was probably the most fun out of the other relationships you had seen. Oikawa would pick you up for surprise trips on his free days, he would even make sure to have your favourite drinks and snacks ready if it will be a long drive.

You both would bond more over your shared love of aliens and sci-fi movies. Movie nights would probably feature films including aliens in some way or another but you don't mind.

Try and convince me that you both wouldn't get matching alien tattoos. I feel like he would want to get it done for ages but you were the one to give him that figurative push that he needed. You had suggested it one morning since you wanted to get tattooed and were a little surprised when he was as excited about an alien tattoo as you were. He would get his on his chest so that his shirt would cover it during games but he could also see it.

His love languages would be gift giving and words of affirmation. Oikawa would love buying you gifts when he travelled for matches, mainly figures he would find in small shops he would pass. The way your eyes would light up when it was presented to you would be enough for his heart to flutter. But he especially adored how you sounded when you told him you loved him. This boy could die happy from that moment!

At the end of the day, this is probably the most fun relationship. Lots of sudden trips and good times! You would support this boy at every volleyball match he had and he would treat you to a date afterwards.

About the case of the Precure anon--the only reason I haven't said more about the situation is because I'm literally getting paid to teach kids proper online etiquette, and I'm not about to put mine at risk for a fandom rivalry.

But let me just say this--people who like both light and dark entertainment exist. I've known people who are all about the cute aesthetic but still love horror movies, and also people who love death metal and Sanrio (which is likely why Aggretsuko is even a thing). And in my opinion, people don't have the right to judge someone else liking two wildly different things. I saw this Precure/PMMM rivalry as a Tumblr lurker in 2014, and I was tired of it then.

When I first developed migraines in high school, those were the two anime I latched onto for escapism. PMMM earlier into my diagnosis, because I wanted to wish my headaches away and if it had consequences, at least it'd burn out into a full-out Shakespearean tragedy, the sort of thing my extra teen self loved. Precure later, because I was getting closer to college and just wanted something fluffy to get me away from the world.

Both views were valid in my eyes, because both influenced me equally. PMMM got me out of my Sayaka-like black and white view of the world, and Precure showed me not only does character development not depend on suffering, but in some cases, shouldn't. (Hence why you will never see me bitching about character treatment in the original PMMM, but I am always here for bitching about how Cure Moonlight deserved better.). Anyway, both shows together have helped me cope more than just about anything else, and I hate the idea that a fan of one can't be a fan of the other.

More importantly, this line of thought kills content creators. While watching Madoka for the first time, I was inspired to start working on a magical girl dystopian series. Yes, it was very likely me trying to mash my two big interests at the time (PMMM and the Hunger Games) together, but it became so much more. I had never been so passionate about anything before, but the first time I saw these sorts of arguments on Tumblr, I almost stopped.

We don't need darker magical girl series. The only people who want them are horny men who want to see little girls suffer.

Do you have any idea how someone like me, a girl who'd loved magical girl stories all my life and genuinely wanted to put their own spin on the genre, felt reading that? For years, I was convinced no one would read my WIP because of these stereotypes. Sometimes, deep down, I'm still afraid this is true.

And here's the thing--I get where these people are coming from. A lot of the post-Madoka series are too edgy for their own good, and I'd love to see a light magical girl series that isn't Precure. One of the reasons I came up with my WIP was me thinking as a kid reading Tokyo Mew Mew, "it's a good thing the bad guys can't engineer people like this," and I am pumped for the reboot. But they can't keep assuming we're a hivemind. A lot of us hate the same MagiReco costumes they hate, and have similar complaints. Some of us even want to take what Madoka did and apply it to our own work, showing how magical girl series can talk about issues of trauma and mental health in mature ways. I know this isn't going to change anyone's mind, and I'm not trying to, but the last thing I want is for this fandom war to blow up again after so long.

TL;DR--l'll let you criticize Madoka all you want if you let me be a joint PMMM/Precure fan, all right?
