tiny little cornelia promo interview has me severely compromised
this one
at no point does she say anything she hasn't said before (& that i haven't documented before somewhere in the bookshop Q&A translations) but STILL. her summary of what she can tell us about the story made me Unwell (putting the translation beneath a cut just to be safe)
"Well, the way I write is that I don't want to know anything… don't want to know too much about the labyrinth I'm entering. For me, the excitement of writing is about not knowing what the story will eventually reveal to me. So I'm not going to spoil the adventure the readers hopefully have waiting for them too much. It's about revenge. The title says as much. Orpheus' revenge on Dustfinger. And you could say the revenge of a reader on a character he once loved very much. For that character not loving him back. It is also about the question whether words are more powerful than images. It's also about being young and getting older. It's about a thousand - hopefully - themes so every reader can pick something out that speaks to their own life. Something they never thought about before. I hope it will be a journey from which you can bring back plenty of images and many places you might like to travel to."

oh i've started listening to nona btw, my audiobook hold went thru at the library after many weeks of waiting. i also realized part of why i'd been putting it off was because i know i'm gonna miss a lot of important details and characterization and implications and have no idea what's going on during the first read and embarrass myself, which is silly. not knowing wtf is happening is a Vital Feature of these stories. i do not need to retain every single page of a book with perfect clarity or absorb every single thematic implication as i read it in order to enjoy it. <-desperately chanting this sentence while gripping the sink staring wild-eyed into the mirror
SO the plan is to just casually let it play through once so i get the vague shape of the story & then, if i have enough time left on the hold, to do a second listen wherein my brain will Actually Pay Attention. we'll see.

ANOTHER BOUND FIC! I’ve wanted to bind House with Lily’s fanart for ages. Next time I bind a book of this length (~40 sheets of paper) I’m going to try a single book, just to see how a thicker book looks and feels…

Like possibly hot take but I find the Thing with Fitz and. The Fiol, one could say, to be much MORE interesting held within a context that respects Fitzs historical social attitude and sexual politics. Im sorry if the guy that got lynched to death at 15 is a little weird about the idea of being contexualized as a homosexual in Medeval Public. And anyways treating their Unrequited Requited deal as the crazy one sided situation it is makes everything about Little Mx Gayboy Moth To The Flame Mount Rushmore Behavior 'Yeah I guess if i expected you to call me beloved I really am a fool' soo much more interesting. Honey I know you quite literally have to be here but for sure you can do this without hurting yourself so much. Right. Right. Wait not like that.
