NGL despite doodling the love square is already outdated in my brain but the doodles are still cute so i'm posting it anyways. 2nd comic still stands true for now bc theres something about being dismissive of the one's own abilities while being ur besties hypeman and also 14yo's canon events in fandom discourse over their bias has to happen. More infodumping down below

It's still all jumbled in the brain but since this follows through from b4 they both become heroes i like thinking about how the process of being a hero bleeds into their civilian life. Marinette definitely is trying to grow out of her shell but struggles greatly with the anxiety/being bullied and communication. The longer she is Ladybug, the more confident she becomes but the more she fears returning who she used to be. I think control/the lack of it becomes a major issue for her.

In comparison with Felix whose been homeschooled this whole time with high and strict expectations, becoming Chat Noir is a release of all of his responsibilities and who he is. While it is freeing, that fear of losing his safe space and best friend becomes more and more pressing especially as the stakes start getting higher.

They both have attachment issues so (gestures vaguely) ladynoir is sloooooooowburn. They are 2 weirdgirls who are finally able to be cringe, but free and even if it was a little off from the start. It's like both of their first times really being able to bond with someone else without any pretense of who they "are". Felinette starts off, not necessarily antagonistic but strained from clashing personalities and communication issues (marinette special). As they grow more into themselves and learn more about one another, i like to think it becomes a silly rivalry.

Felady is rough for felix bc that's his best friend and he cant say anything bc even if he can admit being a fan, it still has to be within the limitation of "himself". Ladybug, however, enjoys teasing that part out of him. Marichat is closer to canon (from what i know) but a little in reverse? Marinette is honest, but not Ladybug honest, to Chat Noir so it's a different perspective of marinette he get's to see, more passion less flustered or smthn like that

Hi! I finally got around to catching up on The Sidekick Conspiracy! I'm really liking it :) Also, there's plot?! I thought this was just crack! :D And am I picking up hints of Alyanette in this Lovequare (is it still lovequare when they're not the lovesquare?) and DJWifi? I really like your writing! ♡♥️♡

In terms of ships, the 'canon' endgame ships are DJWifi and the lovesquare (or lovetriangle in the au lol), however I'm open to people interpreting the relationships in it however they like. My two editors are fans of aurore/mireille and adrinino so i like to include hints of that for both of them. Knowing my, I probably did include some Alyanette as well lol.

Four episodes until the Season Finale... Impressions from the hiatus so far?

So lets start with my initial impressions:

Lets start with the good:

This season has the best starting Episodes.

Truth and Lies are both great episodes and they deserve to be recognized.

-Gang of Truth has one of the most emotional endings in the series and it is the "Umbrella scene" of Hurt and Comfort. The level of Emotional vulnerability is amazing.

-The Linear story line is more connective than all the other seasons and I actually am fine with it. (but they REALLY should just give the studios the episodes in Order.)

-I am glad that the plot actually feels like its progressing, even if some of the decisions are questionable.

-I think the episodes are more consistently Good/Watchable on the level of season 1

-I Like that Marinette and Adrien are actually developing. The lovequare has developed the most in this season.

-Kagami and Luka have been given more development and I think it is mainly an improvement.

-Choices made in episodes actually impact the story (mostly)

-Felix being a sentimonster is interesting.

-Side characters are getting more personality and often going against the salt interpretation.

-4 episodes of Season 4 made it to my top 10 of all time.

-The upgrade to ladybug's costume is great

-It has had the FUNNIEST episodes in the entire show

-I actually am down with the eventual Ladynoir fallout.

Now for the negative impressions:

-I think the way they justified Mega Akuma and The Akuma charms is one of the dumbest choices in the series.

-Furious Fu showed how incredibly incompetent the order is and it is a miracle they weren't destroyed sooner. And while it does justify Fu's mistakes more, this could have been handled INFINITELY BETTER

-Lila's lack of use this season is indicative of the writers not knowing what to do with her.

-Zoe being a replacement for Chloé was handled incredibly Poorly and it makes the writers look bad. If they had spaced the episodes out more and toned it down more this could have worked.

-Thomas made 3 call out episodes this season. Sole Crusher, Queen Banana and Simpleman. And while Simpleman at least was funny. The first two are the worst episodes this season.

-Shadowmoth's design is REALLY STUPID

-I feel like the episodes should have focused more on Marinette coming to terms with being the guardian. It feels like the first 4 episodes were amazing, Then after episode 6, no issue is raised until episode 13 and 14 and that's the last we really see of Ladybug/Marinette having trouble being guardian. More could have been done with it.

-I still have no idea why Luka knows Marinette and Adrien's identities in wishmaker, and the fact he knows without them knowing still annoys me.

-Marinette's Plan in Ephemeral is bad. I know she was stressed. But its really bad writing for everyone involved.

-I dont care for any of the additional heroes except for Pourpre tigresse

-Adrien might be a sentimonster and honestly if its true, I think there is a good chance Thomas will screw this up so much that it might ruin the series. Because the implications of the peacock miraculous are super f***ed up regardless of how you dress it.

Impressions of the fandom in the hiatus:

-The Marinette and Adrien salt has reached ridiculous levels. But considering the ladynoir fall out, its like the fandom is going through a divorce so they are picking sides

-A lot of fascinating theories and takes from Sentimonster Adrien theory.

-Thomas should delete twitter. He is not doing himself any favors.

-People are very split on Zoe lee, which I understand.

-Kagami is getting a lot more love now, which is good.

Overall despite the negatives, I find myself enjoying season 4. Though it is on a tightrope and it can very easily botch things up. So I am hoping for the best
