With a shy and uncertain expression, Vash hesitantly asks, "Um... K... Kiss... Please?" Wolfwood, without wasting a second, leans in and kisses him and indulges by pressing deeper, eliciting a small noise of surprise from Vash.

Wolfwood moves away from Vash first and with a smile, asks, "What else?" Vash tugs on Wolfwood's left sleeve, wordlessly budging Wolfwood to give him his hand that was still behind his back. In the next panel, Vash utters, "Hold me..?" He's holding Wolfwood's left hand with his own while his right hand is reaching for his waist. Wolfwood complies, moving his left hand to Vash's shoulder and his right hand continues to touch Vash's cheek. Wolfwood asks again, "What else?"

More comfortable now, Vash leans in to kiss Wolfwood. Wolfwood catches him immediately, pressing his thumb against Vash's lips to stop him before demanding, "Hey. Ask." Vash looks back in surprise and Wolfwood meets his eye with a quiet, insistent look. They're quiet for a moment before Vash leans in again and curtly requests, "Kiss. Me." Wolfwood says "Good", smiling as he lifts his hand away, and meets Vash's lips. In the next shot, Wolfwood had adjusted his position, sitting on Vash's thigh. The hand that was once on Vash's cheek has moved its way to Vash's nape, pushing away the collar of his jacket with his pinky. His other hand continues to grip on Vash's shoulder. Still kissing, Wolfwood asks again, "What else?"

In the next shot, Vash is starting to turn, moving Wolfwood with him. Vash asks, "Let me on top of you?" Wolfwood says, "Mhm" before asking again, "What else?" The next panel shows a close look of Vash's face. He's looking down, flushed and shy just as he had been at the beginning, but now, more decisive. Vash asks, "Wolfwood... Let me have you..?" A panel of Wolfwood taking Vash's hand into his, pulling it towards his chest. The next panel shows Wolfwood lying down where Vash had laid him. Vash's hand is on Wolfwood's chest, covering the cross of his rosary while Wolfwood's hand lingers against his, loosely pressing Vash's hand in place. He looks up at Vash with a shy smile of his own, flushed cheeks. He says, "All yours."

A panel shows a close up of Vash's tender gaze before he leans down to be closer to Wolfwood. The final shot is a front view of their positions, Vash's face turned away from the viewer; Vash is leaning over Wolfwood who's lying down with his right leg draped over Vash's legs. Wolfwood's left hand holds onto Vash's left arm. With finality, Vash says, "...Mine." End ID]

[ID: A follow up bonus comic in a looser, sketchier style. They're laying comfortably in bed when Vash asks, "What was that earlier?" referecing to the start of the previous comic. Wolfwood glances away and says, "To get you used to it. Asking. And getting what you ask for. Since you're alwasy hesitant about it." Vash's eyes widen, tight lipped. Wolfwood continues, "Knowing you, it'll be a tough habit to break..." When he says this, Vash can't help but laugh, unable to deny it. Wolfwood slowly brings a hand to Vash's cheek and continues to say, "So I'll keep trying -- whatever ways I can... to get it through your thick skull." Vash takes Wolfwood's hand with his, kissing the the palm gently. Wolfwood's eyes soften and holding onto Vash's cheek, he leans in to try for a kiss. Vash says, "Hey..." before stopping Wolfwood's lips with the back of his hand, a smug look on his face, "Ask." Wolfwood's embarrassed and with little irritation, asks, "Really?" Vash smiles, saying, "You're in need of practice too." They pause for a moment, Wolfwood looking contemplatively, before he's leaning in again, asking, "May I please kiss you?" Vash looks him in the eyes and says, "Yes." The comic ends with a "chu", indicating an off-panel kiss. End ID]

Like as a self-proclaimed fan of romance in video games (including dating sims my beloved), it really feels odd when I hear people say a game isn't worth it because it lacks romantic options. The first Pillars of Eternity game doesn't feel empty when it doesn't allow the Watcher to smooch someone, bc that's not the focus of the game and the depth of the character writing and world building are so rich even with the absence of romance. As a Kaidanmancer ME2 is my favorite Mass Effect even without romancing anyone because the characters are wonderful regardless and the atmosphere is immaculate. Is Fire Emblem Echoes a lesser FE game bc I can't choose who Alm loves? Or are they trying to tell a story of two bound souls connected across a continent?

In my mind when it comes to RPGs, romance options are and always have been a luxury. Role Playing Games have a story to tell, first and foremost, and sometimes romance doesn't always fit with that story. Again, I love romance options in RPGs, but the absence of them shouldn't devalue a game. And trying to force games that aren't focusing on romance to do so, while there are many many dating sim-type games out there explicitly CENTERED on exploring romantic options, is a losing battle with a lesser end.

Hope this doesn't come across as weird or anything but when you draw characters, whether they're swapping spit or just being close in some other way, you're so good at capturing a feeling of, like, intimacy? and it's just one of the many aspects i admire about your art🌸^-^

aww thank you..🥰💛💛💛 i might not be the drawing kisses genius cus i don't even do it all that often but i'll explain a bit of how i go about with closeness between characters and such relying on my prev drawings; aggressive and hatred filled closeness included, because i think it's just as important (to me at least) i hope it makes sense lol

generally it's awesome to just take ideas for these sorts of things from the most random places.. other people's art, movies and stuff u watched, etc etc. i'm usually really quick to pinpoint in my mind what exactly i like in a scene of this variety and how i can flip it and turn it like a pancake. i'm a person that takes all of my thinking capacity to come up with the right expressions to convey a mood and where to place the hands. writing all of that has me feeling like the bald body language guy from youtube

Ahem! It's, by far, Catnap and Dogday. They're the type of couple that's always holding hands, being close to each other and just always touching each other. Catnap patrols the farm and Dogday is a shepherd for the sheep, so it's always a matter of time before one finds the other and they cuddle for a little while. When they're in the living room Dogday uses Catnap as his own personal couch because that's what having a giant cat as a boyfriend/husband is for. They have nicknames for each other and they use it all the time, they're always snuggling, etc etc. Both completely insufferable nerds when it comes to their partner (affectionate). Whenever the critters attent a convention there's ALWAYS a moment in which Dogday proudly says "that's my partner!!!!!" in regards to Catnap and it's the CUTEST THING EVER.

You and Grunk were dating, and he adored that you were a horror movie actor. He loved watching you meticulously do your makeup before heading to the set. Although he wasn't usually allowed on set, you managed to sneak him in a few times so he could silently cheer you on from the sidelines. His favorite part of your job was when you finished a movie or show, and you two could cuddle up on the couch and watch it together. As you watched, he constantly showered you with compliments, saying things like, "You did so good in that part!" and "Look! That's my girlfriend... In a movie!" He would either be very quiet, paying close attention to the movie, or he would be praising you non-stop about your performance.

One of the first days of your career, as you were getting your makeup done on the set of one of your movies, Grunk managed to sneak in again. He watched in awe as the makeup artists transformed you into your character, his eyes filled with admiration and excitement. He couldn't help but whisper encouraging words, making you feel even more confident about your role. As the scenes were shot, he silently cheered you on, feeling proud to be part of this incredible journey with you. The memory of those moments, filled with love and support, made your bond even stronger, and he cherished every second of it. When the movie was released, you were back on the couch together, watching it.

headcanon for Douglas x Oliver. And also, Douglas is so beautiful

Ohhhh yes, Douggie and Oliver, I think I've got at least a few for them! x'D Buckle up, I'm boutta ramble LOLL ~ Headcanons for 10x11 ~ - They were pretty much smitten when they first met; Douglas thought Oliver was incredibly brave, strong and "an enterprising engine", while Oliver, ofc, was extremely grateful to Douglas for his rescue.

(Also cuz I mean look at "Escape", did you see the way they looked at each other? Instantly smitten for sure. xD) - Toad was/is the ultimate wingman (or wingvan?) for them.

-Things were a little rocky at first; Oliver was still unpacking quite a traumatic experience and dealing with a rough-ish start on Sodor. And he struggles with the nagging question of whether or not he liked Douglas because of who he was or just because he rescued him.

-Though it's a little awkward and uncertain, once they overcome the initial bumps and start talking they hit it off very well, easily becoming good friends. After that everything just sort of... falls into place.

-Literally everyone knew they liked each other (there were many a gushing rant from both of them about the other lol). - They don't really use "pet names" for each other. Though Oliver is one of only two engines on the island that's allowed to call Douglas "Douggie".

-Ironically, Oliver is way more protective of Douglas then vice versa, though Douglas does still have his moments.

-They spend whatever time they can get together just... talking. They talk endlessly about anything and everything. They love sharing in each others experiences, both past and present, and enjoy a solid sense of comradery.

-They understand each other better then almost anyone else, especially when it comes to their fears about scrap. They know they can always confide in the other about pretty much anything.

Their favourite things about each other are;

Douglas about Oliver: His determination, his unbreakable spirit, how reliable and trustworthy he is. Plus he's got such an adorable face. (and eyes that are very easy to get lost in xD)

Oliver about Douglas: His husky laugh (especially with the way his eyes crinkle when he smiles), the way he laughs at pretty much anything, how level-headed and patient he is, and especially that softer, sentimental side to him.

-Donald still teases Douglas to no end about "makin' goo-goo eyes at wee Ollie", but he's still incredibly supportive. He's mostly just happy his brother found someone who makes him so happy. uwu

-Donald has also told Oliver exactly what he'd do if he hurts his brother, but they were mostly just jokes... mostly. xD

They can really understand each others traumas and experiences, and I 100% see them as just one of the sweetest, most affectionate, couples. (At least as far as trains can go xD)

well, first off, it's funny.

exaggerating character traits for comedic effect is pretty classic joke behavior. the same way buggy's bitterness towards shanks gets turned into an obsession (derogatory), shanks' fondness for buggy gets turned into an obsession (affectionate).

there's also an impulse in fan spaces to make characters fit a mold so you can meme with them! or incorrect quotes-ify them. you know, people like to take a joke they already know and apply it to characters they already like. it doesn't need to be a perfect, in-character fit to entertain.

i do prefer a teasing shanks over a sappy shanks because, as you say, that's how we've seen the guy interact with buggy in canon. but we've never seen shanks in a romantic relationship (as far we know), so none of us actually know how he'd act in one. all we can do is speculate.
