Jamie "He must be a proud father."
Shay "Atty's never seen this many dogs before, at once... and these look like him, too. He's a little confused, I think."
Jamie "Oh, I understand completely. I was a little confused too when Will got pregnant."
Tumblr media
Felix "You know, since they're Atty's... if you'd want to adopt one of them-"
Shay "Oh, uh. I kind of smuggled Atty to Cedric's house, back when I moved here. He took it well, but I probably shouldn't push my luck more... sorry."
Felix "Yeah, I get it. Just thought to offer."
Tumblr media
Hugo "-Emil is coming to see them tomorrow, actually! He said your parents might join, too."
Sara "Damn, just when I have my first shift. I bet my moms will love them!! I'll message Emil that if he finds any of my old plushies, he can bring them along-"
Tumblr media
William "How about you, Luke? Now that you live alone, maybe a dog would be a welcome companion?"
Luke "I... I admit they're weirdly cute—but you know my concert schedule is full, Will. I can't sacrifice the little time I have left for creating for dog walks and, uh... you could even try to remember that I'm allergic!!"

Stars pay tribute to 'force of nature' Doherty12 hours agoBy Ian Youngs, Culture reporter, BBC NewsGetty ImagesJason Priestley was "shocked and saddened" by Shannen Doherty's deathShannen Doherty has been remembered as a "beloved" actress with "heart, courage and kindness", following her death from cancer at the age of 53.Doherty was known for roles in 1990s teen drama Beverly Hills, 90210 and supernatural series Charmed.Jason Priestley, who played her twin brother on 90210, wrote on Instagram he was "shocked and saddened" by the news."She was a force of nature and I will miss her," he said. "Sending love and light to her family in this dark time."Getty ImagesJennie Garth wrote about her "tremendous grief"Jennie Garth, who played Kelly, the sometime love rival of Doherty's character Brenda, said she was "still processing my tremendous grief over the loss of my long-time friend Shannen, the woman I have often described as one of the strongest people I have ever known"."We were so often pitted against each other - but none of that reflected the truth of our real relationship, which was one built on mutual respect and admiration," Garth wrote."She was courageous, passionate, determined and very loving and generous. I will miss her and will always honour her deeply in my heart and in my memories. My heart breaks for her family and [her dog] Bowie and all the people who loved her."Getty ImagesSarah Michelle Gellar recalled how Doherty loved animals, "especially dogs"Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar, a good friend, posted: "How do you possibly find the right words to sum up 30 years of friendship?"I keep reminding myself it only hurts this much because, there was so much love. Thank you, for all your kind words and support."Recalling Doherty's love of pets, Gellar asked well-wishers to donate to an animal charity in her memory. "I know that would make our girl happy."Doherty's death comes five years after that of her fellow Beverly Hills, 90210 star, Luke Perry.Gabrielle Carteris, who played Andrea in the hit series, paid tribute to Doherty, writing: "So young - so sad. May you RIP Shannon. I know Luke is there with open arms to love you."Tori Spelling, who played Donna, posted a photo of herself and Doherty, alongside a string of broken-heart emojis and the message: "I don't have outwards words yet... but we knew and that's what matters."Another Beverly Hills 90210 co-star, Brian Austin Green, addressed his tribute to "Shan, my sister"."You loved me through everything. You were a big part of my understanding of love," he wrote. "I'll miss you more than I know how to process right now. Thank you for the gift of you."
Carol Potter, who played Brenda's mother, Cindy, wrote Doherty had "gone too soon".
"Throughout, she stayed true to herself and gave us an example of courage and perseverance in facing her own death," Potter said. "May she rest in peace."
On Charmed, Doherty played one of three sisters who were witches.
Rose McGowan, who replaced Doherty in the show, as half-sister Paige, wrote she "had the heart of a lion".
"My head bows to this warrior on her journey home," McGowan wrote. "Her intense will to live places in her in the hall of legends. Forever our sister."
Alyssa Milano, who played sister Phoebe, acknowledged the pair's "complicated relationship", with reports they had fallen out on set, leading to Doherty's departure.
"But at its core was someone I deeply respected and was in awe of," Milano added in a statement.
"She was a talented actress, beloved by many, and the world is less without her. My condolences to all who loved her."
'Shared battle'
Another Charmed co-star, Brian Krause, wrote: "You showed me what strength is. You taught me to be fearless and live with purpose, to know your value and stick to your determination. Forever loved. Truly heartbroken."
Others paying tribute included actress Olivia Munn, herself diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, who was "absolutely heartbroken".
"We bonded through a shared battle and a desire to help other women," she wrote. "Looking back on the last text she sent me, just a couple months ago, she asked how I was doing and if she could do anything for me.
"True to form, Shannen was offering her support even though she was in the final stage of fighting this horrific disease."
Doherty had faced the disease with "such dignity, strength and grace", Munn added.
Actress Kate Beckinsale said on Instagram: "Love you. Fly high lovely kind sweetheart woman. This hits hard. Your heart, courage and kindness will be so missed."
And Oscar winner Viola Davis wrote: "Your bravery and ability to share your cancer journey left something 'in' people. Rest well. God bless your loved ones."

First Lines Tag Game
I was tagged by @otterandterrierwrites — thank you kindly for the tag!
Rules: share the first lines of your ten most recent fanfics and tag ten people. If you have written fewer than ten, don’t be shy, share anyway! ❤️
If we survived the great war: “Luke took a sip of his kaffe and made a face. He wasn’t generally much of a kaffe person, but the erratic sleep schedule of a Rebel squadron commander / aspiring Jedi knight and the unrelenting cold of their current base made it something of a necessity.”
One Half Won’t Do: “Carlist Rieekan’s head was still reeling. What the hell happened? When did I lose control?”
There’s promise in the air: “The celebrations were still going strong, Rebels greeting each other with relieved hugs and joyful shouts, inquiring after friends, warning each other about the Ewoks’ wickedly strong brew. Someone, somewhere had found fireworks and set them off; there were bonfires and impromptu concerts and tearful reunions. The tension and fear that had lain beneath their careful plans and daring escapes had given way to the overwhelming sense of relief that followed a major victory.”
All of the ghouls come out to play: “Nobody was really certain how and when the doll had first arrived. It was one of the steady stream of gifts from diplomats and well-wishers from around the galaxy that had flooded Leia’s office and the Alderaanian embassy as soon as news had broken of an Organa-Solo baby on the way.“
Better than anything else that I’ve tried: “Leia wasn’t exactly sure what had first inspired the idea—was it the memory of the last bits of ice cream she’d savored last night, retaining that cool sweetness on her tongue as her lips closed over the spoon? Was it the arc of that little dip in his throat, seen as he’d swallowed his last bit of kaffe this morning? His lean body tangled in the sheets? The heat she’d briefly felt leaning over him for a kiss before she’d left the apartment? The sound, something between a growl and a purr, he’d put into his intonation of Sweetheart?”
See if you can work me the way you say: “‘A word, Captain?’”
A Girl in Trouble (Is a Temporary Thing): “Silence met Wedge’s story for a good minute, until Han finally spoke. ‘That’s the most fucked up thing I’ve ever heard.’”
Tiny Umbrellas: “Working up a sweat alongside Han was certainly a fair part of how Leia had expected to spend her first real vacation in several years, but this was not exactly what she’d had in mind.“
Our stained glass means nothing without light: “Leia was drinking tea at the dejarik table when he appeared. One moment she was alone, and the next, there was a faint blue glow and a sort of…presence.”
What they could do: “Nobody was supposed to talk about their younglings, the ones who had left. The little ones, mostly toddlers and preschoolers, who had been offered a place, a calling with the Jedi Order. The ones they’d sent off to be with others who shared their gifts, to be in a place where their strange beauty would be understood. Where they could spend their lives in service to the galaxy.”
***
Tagging: @keys2thefalcon @diplomaticprincess @inelegantprose @yoyomarules @theorganasolo and anyone else would like to play!

Unconventional Conventions
Chapter 16
Kai liked children and, as it happened, children liked them back. This was a fact that served them well on Sunday morning. With Meredith having to go into work to deal with some administrative issues and Amelia feeling a little under the weather, they had been glad to oblige by taking on babysitting duties.
It was actually familiar territory for them. Their brother Luke and their sister Jennifer both had kids. Kai had always been a reliable and able aunt. They were quite adept at entertaining and protecting them. However, they also always liked handing them back to their parents at the end of the day.
Taking care of Scout and Meredith’s kids wasn’t any big problem for Kai. They were currently entertaining the youngsters with silly songs and jokes while making them waffles for breakfast. The house was filled with the sounds of laughter and the atmosphere within it was light and calm. The kids sat at the dining table to eat. Scout was in his high chair, tucked beside the table with his cousins. He laughed along with them, despite not being old enough to understand what he was laughing about.
Sipping a coffee, Kai was more than happy to spend the morning goofing out with the kids. They hoped that Meredith would be home by noon so that they could spend the rest of their final day off with their lovely fiancé and son. Their face broke into a bright smile as these thoughts washed over them. They, Kai Bartley, had a fiancé and a child. It was still a little unreal.
They had been genuinely amazed by the sheer volume of good will, support and love that they had received from the hospital community as news of their engagement had filtered through it. They had never felt so accepted before. Of course, most of the well wishers knew Amelia rather than them, but that didn’t change anything. When people had congratulated Amelia, wishing her a happy marriage, Kai had felt their approval of them and it was a joyous feeling.
Bailey bounced up to Kai. “Unctie Kai. Did you hear about the magic tractor?” Kai gave the boy a feigned look of ignorance, inviting him to reveal his punchline. “Well, you see. It drove down the road before turning into a field! Do you get it?” He laughed and grinned at his joke, his body almost visibly vibrating with glee. “Man, that’s a good one. High five, nibling.” Kai laughed along with the boy and accepted his palm slap appreciatively.
Ellis wanted to hear Kai sing another song. They retrieved their guitar from the couch, where it had been left earlier as they had prepared the food. Kai sat back down and began to strum the instruments strings. Scout was utterly delighted and began to clap. “Unctie Kai hasn’t even gotten started. Silly Billy.” The little girl rolled her eyes dramatically and frowned at the blonde toddler. He didn’t care and kept clapping and babbling.
Kai taught the kids the words to Jeremiah was a bullfrog and soon the Shepherd kids, including Zola, were singing and giggling their way through a rather animated rendition of the tune.
Amelia, having been curious about the laughter going on downstairs, got herself up and down the stairs. She stood back, away from the group and took in the sight. Kai looked so relaxed and at ease as they sang with the children. They had them in the palm of their hand.
She clapped as the singing ended. Under Kai’s instruction, they bowed and curtsied their aunt. “Bravo! That was great munchkins. Kai, you weren’t so bad either.” She smiled mischievously and stepped into the dining room. “Thank you. Much appreciated, pretty lady,” Kai replied playfully. They propped their guitar against the wall, freeing their arms so that they could embrace her. “Morning you. Sorry we woke you. How’s your headache?”
Amelia kissed Kai’s forehead. “The paracetamol worked and I feel better. Tired but better.” Kai smiled. “Good. I don’t want you to be unwell. Ever.” This earned them another little kiss. “Any waffles left for your hungry fiancé?” “Always, Shepherd. Sit your beautiful self down and I will take care of it.”
They got another coffee cup from the cupboard and poured a cup for Amelia. She flashed them a look of thanks as she accepted the hot drink. “Unctie Kai is the best! They are my bestest friend and I really like them”, little Ellis told the brown-haired woman. “I like them too. They are pretty great. I got an idea.” The little girl was suddenly laser focused on her aunt. “Why don’t you and Bailey show Kai how good you are at drawing. You could draw them some pictures, make them feel really welcome.”
The two kids sprinted for their art supplies, both declaring that their pictures would be the best. Zola wandered away, one of her grandmother’s medical notebooks tucked under her arm. She settled herself on the couch to read her granny’s notes on how to perform a whipple procedure.
“Meredith got called in, huh? Sorry you got landed minding the kids. I would have helped you if you had called me. Although, seems like they had it all in hand, eh Scout?” Scout, now restless without his cousins, stretched out his arms, asking his mom to lift him. She did so and spent a second taking in his smell.
Kai smiled as they plated up Amelia’s breakfast. “It was my pleasure, sweetheart. I like children. They are easy and so much less complicated than adults. They rarely have a hidden agenda. Let me take him while you eat.” Amelia kissed Scout’s head before letting Kai gently lift him from her arms.
Scout had been picking up words and names lately but hadn’t as yet been able to say theirs. This despite their very best efforts. They dropped a tender kiss on Amelia’s cheek and checking the kids were okay drawing on the living room floor, began to work on Scout again. “Come on little dude. I know you can do it. Kai. Kai.”
Scout was running his little fingers over the fabric of Kai’s soft cotton button up. He didn’t appear to be really listening to his new parent. “Kai.” They tried again. Scout continued his rubbing of their shirt as he lifted his eyes to their face. “Ai!” Kai stopped and froze. “ Ai!” He repeated. Kai’s face lit up. “You clever boy. Kai. Yes, I’m Kai.”
The toddler was delighted by this praise. He grinned up at Kai and clapped for his own achievements. “Mama. Ai.” His mother beamed and smiled. “Yes Kiddo, that’s Kai.” Kai was utterly enchanted. They hugged him to themself and rubbed their long fingers up and down his back. Scout responded by wrapping his little arms around Kai’s neck and snuggling in.
Amelia was struck by their natural ability with children again. Her heart was filled with joy just watching them interacting with Scout. She felt sure that they couldn’t love him anymore if he was their biological child. And she couldn’t love them anymore for this. Every time she thought that there weren’t any more things to love about Kai Bartley, they up and presented her with more reasons.
Kai caught her looking, noticing the softness of her gaze and the love it held. They smiled to her, still enjoying their cuddle with Scout. Ensuring they had a good hold of the boy, they opened a inviting arm. Amelia stepped into their embrace, slipping one arm around their waist and resting the other hand on Scout’s back. “Family cuddles,” she said proudly and softly. “Family cuddles”, Kai replied.
The morning passed in comfortable chaos. Bailey and Ellis drew pictures and presented them to Kai, asking them to pick a winner. Kai declared that they were all brilliant and they couldn’t possibly pick a best one. They helped them hang the colorful images on the fridge. After that, the pair dashed into the living room and watched cartoons.
Amelia got Scout down for a nap shortly before noon and helped Kai clean up the breakfast things. Zola wandered up to the adults to ask about medical terms she didn’t understand but otherwise, entertained herself.
The house was relatively calm then as Meredith walked through the door. Her children immediately jumped up to greet her. They bombarded her with news of their adventures with Kai. Meredith listened attentively and laughed as Ellis told her about the new song she had learned. The children soon returned to their activities, leaving her to join the adults in the kitchen.
She squeezed Kai’s shoulder and thanked them for looking after the kids. They assured her that it had been no trouble. Kai insisted that she sit and they got her a coffee.
Meredith’s expression changed then. “You two are so happy right now so l hate having to be the bearer of bad news. Its Link, he’s on the warpath”.
Amelia and Kai looked at each other, their faces both bore signs of anxiety. “He came bounding in to my office, demanding that I fire you Kai. When I made it clear that I wasn’t going to do that, he started in with the most hateful homophobic rant that I have ever heard. The stuff he was saying was really vile. He was saying that had seen a lawyer. Amelia, he’s going to challenge you for custody of Scout.”
There was a shocked silence as the couple absorbed what Meredith had said. Kai’s face paled while Amelia’s reflected her anger. “He’ll take my son, our son, from us over our dead bodies . There’s no way in hell he’s taking Scout.” Hearing her own words, Amelia’s anger gave way to fear. “Right Kai? I mean, I’m right, aren’t I? He won’t take our baby, will he?”
Kai exhaled a shaky breath. They centered themself and took her hand in theirs. “We’ll fight him tooth and nail. He won’t destroy our family. Not without a fight.” Meredith took her other hand. “I will help you. So will Maggie. We all will. No homophobic fool is taking my nephew. You two can take tomorrow off. Get yourself a good lawyer and prepare yourselves for what’s to come.”

@talesofshadowandlight said: "Ben knows everything now." Obi-Wan confessed to Luke. "I told him about your father. He'll be alright. He just needs some time alone, like a certain young Jedi I know when he learned the truth. Don't say tell me that I should have been different with you and Leia. I know I made a lot of mistakes. But the difference is I was trying to protect you and Leia from the Empire. What are Leia and Han trying to protect Ben from?" (an au where Obi-Wan just keeps on living and helps Luke rebuild the Jedi Order).
Tumblr media
At first, Luke was ready to be angry with Obi-Wan for this act, but quickly changed his mind. Obi-Wan was right. It's better for Ben to find out about everything from them than to find out the truth the way it happened to him and Leia. It would be terrible if someone else told him, who would twist the truth, putting everything in the worst light.
"I don't understand them either. No, I can understand Leia. She still hasn't forgiven our father and she's afraid that the truth will one day come out and destroy her career. This is ridiculous."
He smiled wearily.
"You're right. Better be you than some 'well-wisher'. At least we can control the situation."

*
Barbatos had never been one to put much stock into surprise birthday parties. In his experience, birthdays tended to fall by the wayside--at least until the student exchange program began and such things began having more weight. For most immortal creatures, a single year was a fleeting interval of time; yet it seemed a density of events could make it feel much longer.
And in regards to the 'surprise' part, regretfully, while he himself could be the spirit of discretion, he was surrounded by individuals who had neither the subtlety nor the social grace to be able to hide when they were organizing such things.
So it was with no small amount of stunned disbelief that Barbatos walked into one of the rooms of the castle to have every close acquaintance shout 'Happy Birthday!' at him.
He hadn't had a clue. He'd noticed nothing. He'd forgotten his birthday was even coming up, true, but he forgot all about it most years. This was the first time someone had actually gotten the drop on him and surprised him with a birthday party without him noticing.
Lord Diavolo's laugh boomed at the look on Barbatos' face, and he patted the butler's shoulder with sympathy.
"You really didn't guess this time, did you?" Lord Diavolo asked, grinning from ear to ear.
"Young Master, I am stunned. You've stunned me," Barbatos replied quite sincerely. Lord Diavolo laughed again, but he did not elaborate on how he accomplished it, only wished Barbatos a happy birthday again and wandered off.
Well-wishers followed after that, and then the cake: three-tiered with turquoise frosting, and decorated to delicately that he couldn't have done a better job himself. The candles he was instructed to blow out were numbering the same as the millennia of his life, and he had to wonder who'd sat down and made that calculation.
Luke proceeded to cut the cake into slices that he painstakingly made sure were equal--except for Beelzebub, who'd been given an entire tier of the cake simply so he'd leave something for the other guests to eat. Barbatos was handed the first slice, and instructed to sit down and eat it, which may have been a transparent ploy of dealing with Barbatos' instinct to serve the cake for all the others.
As Barbatos was ushered off to the table, however, he sat next to the one he suspected to be the mastermind behind this whole thing. The human exchange student looked at him and grinned, wishing him happy birthday with such a devious look on their face, that it left no doubt as to his conclusion. Oh yes, the human had been the one to pull this off.
"I don't suppose you'll tell me how you did it?" Barbatos asked, genuinely curious. When he took a small bite of the cake, the flavor was quite to his liking. If this was something Luke made, then the angel had improved his baking beyond what Barbatos expected. If it was not Luke's doing, Barbatos couldn't imagine who else knew his tastes so well.
"Oh, I definitely will," they said, "but only if you do a good enough job of enjoying yourself first."
Barbatos laughed, surprising even himself as he did, but he had no opportunity to continue the conversation. The human hadn't crowded around the table to receive a piece of cake, and now it was obvious why: at least three of the demon brothers were coming to offer them a slice, and jostling each other to be the first to do so.
As a demon of great integrity, Barbatos enjoyed himself, just as the human said. And after the party was over, he stayed to clean up, because he'd been firmly forbidden from doing anything of the like during the party itself, and now he felt his hands itching for some kind of activity.
The human exchange student stayed, either out of a real desire to help, or because they wanted to keep up their end of the bargain.
"Did you like it?" they asked.
"It was an experience I won't soon forget," Barbatos said.
"Okay, then, about the thing you asked... I'll tell you tomorrow. You should bask in that feeling for a bit longer."
"Tomorrow, then. I really must insist you come for tea."
The rest of the cleaning was done in companionable silence.
* The next day came the answers Barbatos was so curious about, and he burst out laughing when he got them.
"You used my own powers to surprise me?" he surmised from their explanation, as the human nodded sheepishly. "What a notion. I am constantly astounded at the ideas you come up with."
"So you'll help me with the time-travel birthday surprise then?"
"Naturally I must," Barbatos agreed. "We shouldn't create a paradox."
The human hummed in agreement, and nodded, but then their brow furrowed.
"That wouldn't actually happen, would it?" they checked, a bit nervous.
"I wonder," was Barbatos' cryptic reply, as he took a sip of his tea.

I'd be sorry that the puppy mayhem stole the spotlight but really, five dogs on the lot absolutely is this man's kind of party.
Happy birthday, Jamie ❤️

TW: death, grief, depression, death of a child
Unsure if anyone has done something similar before, but here are some of my HCs regarding the boys' parents after their deaths. I’m going to start with Luke:
Luke's parents, as we already know, stayed in their home. While many instances of a child dying tears parents apart, Luke's death caused his parents to cling to one another for support and comfort.
At the funeral, Luke’s dad stayed at the head of the coffin, and he never took his eyes off of his son’s face even when well-wishers and mourners offered condolences. Luke’s mom kept brushing the back of her hand against her son’s cold cheek, half expecting him to spring up out of the coffin with that infectious laugh on his lips and to wrap her in a hug. She prayed that would happen.
Luke’s mom broke down completely when it was her turn to scoop the first shovelful of rich, dark dirt onto the casket. The thought of her baby in the ground, covered with dirt, was too much for her. Luke’s dad scooped the dirt instead, his shoulders squared, jaw set. Later, he shut himself up in his office and cried, doubled over on himself, raw, howling sobs racking his thin body.
They avoided Luke’s room for a year after he died. He hadn’t slept in it for months, but it still hurt too much to be surrounded by all these memories of him. Once they finally did step through the threshold, it was like a switch was flipped. Luke’s mom would sit on the floor cross-legged and drink in the memorabilia, all that was left of the son she wished she had tried to understand more. She knew the boys’ instruments were in storage somewhere, but she didn’t bother claiming them. She felt weak, but she just… couldn’t look at them. They were a reminder of her own failure as a mother, and a mockery of all she’d lost.
Luke's mom hasn't slept a full night without medication in 25 years. Guilt and what ifs plague her constantly, especially in those quiet hours when her husband has fallen asleep and her mind won't stop. What if I had been stronger? What if I'd never given him that guitar? What if I'd supported him more, gone to his shows, pursued him as he left? We could have had a nice celebratory dinner out before his show. I could have given him flowers. He would still be alive.
Luke's dad has never been a talkative person, but now he rarely speaks. When he does, he's hesitant, afraid. He never said the right things to Luke when he was alive. All those things he felt but couldn’t find words for – things like I love you, son, and I’m proud of you – have been lodged in his throat decades, and it’s hard to speak past them. So he doesn’t.
At first, Luke’s parents tried to reach out to and connect with Reggie and Alex’s parents, but the empty spaces where their boys should be hurt too much, and Luke’s mom swears to this day that there was blame in the other moms’ eyes. Your son started this band, and you couldn’t control him. It’s your fault they’re dead. She knows deep down that it was probably just her own self-loathing and guilt that made her think the other parents blamed her. She hasn’t spoken to Alex’s mom in twenty-four years. She saw on Facebook that Reggie’s youngest sibling graduated from med school, and she sent a card with a twenty dollar bill.
They saw Bobby at the funeral. He was pale, sickly. They tried to talk to him, but he brushed them off. Shortly after, he moved out of state, and they didn’t hear from him again. If they’d followed the music industry, they might have noticed that rising star Trevor Wilson looked very familiar. But they stopped listening to music. They still avoid it, preferring silence, the ecchoing, indulgent, quiet clamor of their own guilt. They take extra precautions to avoid guitars.
The hardest thing for Luke’s parents is the lack of closure. They imagine Luke’s last moments, and wonder if he thought of them. Wonder if he died hating them, or, worse, thinking that they hated him. At least he didn’t die alone, they console themselves. They learned that all three boys died in the ambulance on their way to the hospital. The time of death for Luke was 8:07 p.m. They don’t know when the other boys went, but they hope that Luke wasn’t the last to go. They hate the idea of the other boys suffering alone, but they can’t stand the thought of Luke, estranged from his family, dying alone and afraid. They wonder if he was in pain. They wonder if he tried to be strong for his friends. They wonder if he’s still out there, somewhere. They wonder a lot of things.
But mostly, they regret.
Let me know if you want to see more of these for Reggie’s and Alex’s parents. I have some ideas swirling around in my head already. And, in case you’re wondering, I absolutely have some fanfics planned out to tackle some (or all) of these ideas.
Gosh, this was one of the hardest things I’ve written in a while. I just can’t stop thinking about the trauma these poor parents suffered after losing their children. It’s unthinkable.

DAY 13: ANGSTOBER: Traitor @angstober
This is a sequel to this ficlet from yesterday, bc I had an idea for it. Also, the allusion to Luke’s scar and the mention of his usual white uniform is a reference to @coralnoodle‘s art here; I love that art so much, and one day I will write a proper AU of it, bc it gives me so many ideas.
Luke was in and out of bacta for days, weeks, his father hovering by his side the whole time and reassuring him, reiterating how proud he was. Luke received datapads of reports, if he was interested in them; baskets of (thoroughly vetted) goods from Imperial well-wishers wanting to kiss up to the new prince; smaller, more personal gifts from the troopers and officers he’d been around his whole life, who wanted to congratulate him and let him know how proud they were too. It was sweet, heart-warming, everything he’d ever wanted… until he thought too hard on what he’d actually done.
And that was when the doubt set it.
He was out of bacta for the last time, drifting in and out of consciousness, lying with his leg propped up in a medbay bed. His father sat in a heavy chair on his right, with the makeshift desk he’d had moved next to Luke’s bed so he could keep up with work while he kept his son company, and—with those unpleasant thoughts crowding his mind—Luke croaked out, “What are you doing?”
Vader’s stylus stilled on the datapad. “Necessary bureaucracy,” he said dismissively. “Why, would you like me to do something for you?” The eagerness in his voice was not faked—Luke had to wonder how much his father had missed him, in the years he’d been infiltrating the Rebellion, and if that played as much a part in his insistence to constantly be around Luke as his worry did.
Luke shook his head. “No. I’m just… curious.”
“Well.” He could hear the soft smile in his voice. “This particular piece of bureaucracy is what to do with the Rebel leaders’ home planets. Naturally, Alderaan is already destroyed by Tarkin and Palpatine’s arrogance, so Organa, Dodonna and Rieekan, and several others, need fear no repercussions. But Chandrila was edging toward rebellion before the Rebels’ defeat, so we could easily make an example of them; that, or Mon Cala…”
He trailed off. “Luke, are you alright?”
Ah.
Luke wasn’t as good at hiding his flinch as he thought.
“My arm and leg still really hurt,” he lied. “I just… shifted, slightly, for a moment, and it aggravated them.”
Vader said, “Luke, it has been a long time. But I am still able to tell when you are lying.”
Luke let out a breath. “Oh.”
“What is it that is truly troubling you? You cried on the day of our victory—I remember. It was not wholly to do with your injury, was it?”
Luke swallowed.
Then he admitted, “No. It wasn’t.”
Vader put his datapad aside. “Tell me what is wrong.”
Luke opened his mouth.
Closed it again.
Hesitated.
Did— did he want to admit this to his father? Did he want to do this?
Yes, he finally decided.
He had no secrets from his father.
None at all.
“I…” he got out. “While I was with the Rebels… I learned something,” he said. “And I…”
“I see.” Vader fixed him with a look. “You grew to have sympathy for them.”
Luke cringed, but nodded. “I— I love you, I’m not a traitor, I did everything you told me—”
“I know, Luke,” Vader said calmly. “I know that you are no traitor. I love you too.”
Luke took a deep breath and bowed his head. “I don’t want you to destroy Chandrila,” he whispered. “Or impose sanctions, or bombard them. I— Leia was my friend, in the end, and I had to betray her, but—”
“You would consider her a friend? Son, she is a terrorist.”
“I know that!” Luke automatically made to rake his hands through his hair and cried out when one of his arms was still in pain. “I know, but— but—”
“But you have a heart the size of your mother’s,” Vader finished, lifting a hand to his face to trace the scar there, “and about as much common sense as your father.”
Luke, at last, nodded meekly. A weight rolled off his shoulders.
He’d told his father of his doubts. He’d confessed to it—and his father did not hate him. Did not think he was a traitor at all.
“Of course you are no traitor, Luke,” Vader reassured him. “You are loyal to the Empire. I would never want a son who follows orders blindly, obeys without question. You will doubt the Empire, you will consider the Rebellion’s merit, and then you will understand why what we do is just. This will only make you stronger.” He reached over to squeeze Luke’s shoulder; Luke leaned into the touch. “Have no fear, my son.”
Luke swallowed, and closed his eyes so that the tears didn’t fall.
“Take this time to think over it,” he said. “Remind yourself what the Empire does, the good we perpetuate, rather than what we do to our deserving enemies. You have spent so long receiving Rebel propaganda, and still you remained loyal, with only a few doubts; I am sure you will consolidate your beliefs soon.” He patted his hand. “Use your recovery to peruse the datapads I sent you, familiarise yourself with the new Empire we have built. You will be able to wear your white uniform again soon, and take the command you were born for.”
“And…” Luke didn’t dare to hope, so he just said, “Thank you, Father.”
But Vader knew what he’d been about to ask. “I will not punish Chandrila or Mon Cala,” he agreed. “I will use it as a threat, but I will not act on it. For you.”
Luke relaxed, and smiled.
“When you have come around to the idea again, you can do it yourself,” Vader promised. “It will be a fitting act for the new prince.”
And suddenly Luke felt even colder than before.

#Jophelia Over?!
Tumblr media
Last night at a party celebrating King Victor and Queen Agathe's wedding anniversary, Prince Jonas surprised everyone by getting down on one knee...
Tumblr media
...but the Crown Princess' reaction was not what the public expected! HIH Crown Princess Ophelia, who only hours before was smiling and waving at the crowd of well-wishers outside the party hand-in-hand with the Prince, rejected Jonas' heartfelt proposal in front of everyone, and then ran away into the maze behind the estate where the party was being held. The photographer who was there to capture the special moment, instead shared with us photos of Ophelia's heartbreaking departure from the party, as well as Jonas' reaction to it all:
"HRH had a beautiful speech full of love and promises to the Crown Princess, who only seemed at a loss for words. The only thing she actually said was 'I can't' before she pushed through the party and out into the darkness. I followed as far as I could before HIM the Tsarina followed after her daughter, and Prince Matthew blocked my way, asking me to give them privacy."
Many are criticizing the Crown Princess for her lack of commitment, saying that she left her high school boyfriend, Mr. Luke Marin, overnight for the Prince, and now she's leaving the Prince without warning as well! Some are worried for the future of the Empire, if our Crown Princess can't seem to keep her man! Is she the right person to take over as Tsarina? Or should we be looking to the more stable, younger Princess, Rosalind, for the future? Whatever comes next, the Empire is grieving for Prince Jonas, who must be just as confused about all of this as we are!

Here Comes The Bride!
Tumblr media
Lady Katherine Raines has arrived at St. Luke’s church for her marriage to Prince Felix! She is escorted by her father, Lord Howard, Baron of Raines. She is wearing a large strapless gown with a lace top and the Raines Tiara. Around her neck is the Queen Cressida choker, adorned with diamonds and pearls.
Tumblr media
The soon-to-be Duchess of Clifton paused on the steps of the church to wave at the well-wishers outside.
Tumblr media
Due to privacy requests from the royal family, the ceremony will not be broadcast or photographed. For now, Royal fans eagerly wait outside St. Luke's for a glimpse of the Duke and Duchess of Clifton leaving their wedding.
