Adelaide, Dowager Princess of the Isle

Princess Adelaide of Brichester was born in 1847 to Prince Willem-Maurits of Brichester and Infanta Antonia of Selvadorada. Her father was the second son of the reigning King of Brichester and her mother was a niece of King Felipe III of Selvadorada. Adelaide grew up at Emden Castle, a country estate of the Brichester Royal Family. Adelaide's father valued a high education, and thus had all of his daughters educated by tutors from the University of Brichester. Her mother Antonia was an affectionate mother who deeply cared for her children. However, she also had high ambitions, aiming to see her daughters become queens. Adelaide's sisters would become the Queen of Brichester and the Crown Princess of Brindleton through advantageous marriages. Adelaide and her sisters were often referred to as the Brichester Set, beautiful young princesses who became the most sought after brides in the continent.

Adelaide met her mother's cousins, the King and Queen of Selvadorada multiple times throughout her childhood. Before the Selvadoradian Royal Family traveled to San Myshuno for the wedding of Maria Christina to the Prince of the Isle, they visited Antonia and her daughters in Brichester. Maria Christina remarked that her cousin Antonia was "pleasant, but plain" and compared having 9 children to a "living hell". Adelaide was briefly courted by Maria Christina's older brother, Infante Fernando of Selvadorada in 1869, but he died later that year ending the courtship. That same year Maria Christina died in labor, leaving her husband a widower.

Queen Mary II believed that her granddaughters needed a mother figure in their life, and expected her son to give her a grandson who could inherit the throne of Windenburg and San Myshuno. Mary II employed her daughters to look for a bride for her widowed son. Mary's second daughter, Ophelia had met Adelaide at the wedding of her sister to Ophelia's step-son, the Crown Prince of Brindleton. Ophelia suggested to Queen Mary that Adelaide was very beautiful and kind, and being kin to Maria Christina, would make a wonderful mother to her children. Adelaide was invited to Statford Castle in 1870 along with her parents where they were introduced to the Queen and Prince Charles. Prince Charles was pleasant and kind to Princess Adelaide, however she was unimpressed. Prince Charles did not speak much and remained rather quiet, with his mother Queen Mary speaking for him. Adelaide initially wanted to reject Prince Charles, but her mother Antonia had other plans. Antonia manipulated her daughter into accepting the proposal by emphasizing the "shame" that would be brought on the family if she rejected him.

After two more meetings, Adelaide accepted the proposal and the couple became engaged. The wedding was a small intimate affair held at the San Myshuno Palace Chapel, with only close family in attendance. Charles and Adelaide's marriage broke down rapidly after the honeymoon. Charles left Honey House and never returned; instead, he stayed at his hunting lodge in Dunkeld. Adelaide was forced to become the sole parent in the lives of Princess Alexandra and Princess Charlotte, her two infant stepdaughters.

ROYAL WEDDING: WHICH TIARA WILL ANYA WEAR?

Aside from guessing which designer has been tapped to make Anya's dress, people are also taking bets on which tiara she'll wear on her big day!

The recent banquet only intensified people's curiosity over which tiara Anya will be wearing for her wedding. That's not exactly an easy decision to make, considering HRH has quite a lot of tiaras at her disposal. So here's a quick look at some of the sparklers that we *might* see atop HRH's head come her much-awaited wedding day. We split the tiaras under four categories: The Favourites, The Diamonds, The Necklaces, and The Emeralds, plus a bonus category!

THE FAVOURITES

The Brindleton Foliage Tiara

The diamond and ruby piece was given a rebirth by Queen Emilia when she dusted it off and had it repaired and slightly altered. The tiara, considered a blood princess tiara, can only be worn by blood princesses. It's been a hot minute since Her Majesty has worn the piece, and it's now perhaps more associated with The Crown Princess.

The Stafford Tiara

The impressive tiara, which features a graduating scroll motif, is an 18th birthday present by the Stafford Royal Family to the Crown Princess. Personally dubbed as "her favourite," HRH has worn it through the years, and she even wore it for her official portrait a few years ago. We won't be surprised if HRH picks this stunner for her royal wedding!

THE DIAMONDS

The Brindleton Comb Tiara

The Brindleton Comb Tiara is one of the most unique and versatile pieces in the royal collection. The all-diamond diadem is composed of three individual combs. Each can be worn individually, or they can be locked into place to form the tiara. HRH has worn it a couple of times, and she seems to prefer to wear all three combs in one go, making it seem like she has a halo of diamonds that goes all around her head.

Brindleton-Rennaux Tiara

Speaking of versatile, the latest tiara to join HRH's collection is also quite customisable, thanks to its removable central diamond, which can be replaced with accompanying "extra" stones. The piece has garnered the nickname "Brindleton-Rennaux Tiara." It was commissioned by Prince Jacques for Anya's thirtieth birthday. The diamonds used for the piece were derived from the private collection of Prince Jacques' mother, the late Queen Theodora of Rennaux.

THE NECKLACES

The Queen Astrid Necklace Tiara

This all-diamond tiara was an anniversary present to Queen Astrid (Anya's maternal great-grandmother) from her husband, King Frederik. It was originally meant to be a necklace, however, the late Queen commissioned the royal jewellers to transform it in such a way that it could be worn as a headpiece, too. The Crown Princess has worn the tiara twice - at Princess Katrine of Arendahl's wedding, and more recently during last week's Selvadoradan Banquet.

The Debonne Tiara

Another necklace-cum-tiara Anya seems to love is the Debonne Tiara. The piece was a present from Lady Amarie Debonne to the late Queen Astrid. It features a dainty floral motif, which includes diamonds and pearls. The headpiece is set in yellow gold and it matches Anya's engagement ring perfectly! HRH has also worn this tiara twice - first during her state visit to Tartosa, and she also wore it for her engagement photoshoot.

THE EMERALDS

Queen Ophelia’s Birthday Tiara 

This now-iconic tiara was a birthday present from King Leopold to his wife, Queen Ophelia. The piece is also very flexible, and can be worn with emerald pendants, pearl pendants, worn with just the diamond hoops. The Crown Princess has donned it a handful of times, and should she wear it for her wedding, it would be a wonderful way to honour her grandmother.

Brindleton Lace Tiara

According to Brindleton customs, brides are encouraged to wear emeralds on her wedding day for good luck, so The Brindleton Lace Tiara definitely fits the bill! It forms part of the Brindleton Emerald Parure, and most people probably remember it as the tiara that Anya "stole" from her sister Eleanore during the latter's wedding a couple of years ago. Whether or not Anya will be petty enough to wear it to her own wedding, guess we're going to have to wait and see!

Queen Emilia's Birthday Tiara

This meaningful diadem that features a large central emerald was an 18th birthday present from King Leopold to his daughter, then Crown Princess Emilia. Through the years, many royal heads have worn the tiara including Crown Princes Anya herself. There's a chance Anya might choose this as her wedding tiara given its relevance and history, and of course, as a way to honour her mum.

BONUS CATEGORY: THE HONOURABLE MENTIONS

While some say that brides should not wear pearls because their tear-shaped appearance symbolises tears to be shed due to a sad marriage, others claim that pearls are good luck and signify a fruitful and successful union. Some pearl tiaras that could be worn by Anya include The Queen Astrid Diamond and Pearl Tiara (L), which she wore to her visit to Selvadorada; The Brindleton Bow Pearl and Diamond Tiara (C) which features an array of suspended teardrop pearls; and the Brindleton Clam Tiara (R), which HRH once wore in an official portrait.

Of course, Anya could surprise us all and pull out a long-unseen tiara from deep within the royal vaults, or even a newly-commissioned piece for her wedding day! Either way, we're quite certain it'll be a stunner, just like all the other tiaras HRH has worn in the past.

One thing's certain, though. All this tiara talk has us desperate for more royal wedding updates!

This was actually Plan B—Plan A involved adopting them all into her own family, which Luna didn’t allow for… obvious reasons.

💜 Rarely ever wears her “princess” crown—the status makes her a tad uncomfortable—and chooses to appear as down to earth to the public as she can. Sometimes she even wishes she was never made into an alicorn in the first place... Having an entire nation’s eyes on you at all times certainly does a number on a pony’s mental stability, that’s for sure. Though she wouldn’t trade her fate for all the bits in Equestria, Twilight never truly got used to the role, even after years of training and practice.

💜 Started crushing on her future wife, Princess Luna, around the time of S2:E4, “Luna Eclipsed”. This quickly subsided after getting together with her first wife, Tempest Shadow, though after her passing the grieving widow slowly rekindled her love for the Princess of the Night.

I need to talk about Ophelia Ella before she became Cinderella.

Ophelia was not like other princesses even thou she had a happily ever after like others. She likes cooking, cleaning, gardening and sewing her own clothes. Everything other royals would call "servant work", but she took great pride in her own hard work.

She also had a lot of fears regarding her destiny, but she couldn't tell anyone because even her close friends praised it and couldn't wait for them to start. Was she really ready for it? Was she really ready to lose her mother? What kind of prince will hers be? What if he doesn't like her hobbies and her interests? What if he is a traditional prince and would stop her from cooking, cleaning and gardening because that's 'not what proper princess do"? What if he doesn't love her and only marries her for destiny and crown? Could she live in a loveless marriage? And what about her future child? Is she willing to die and not watch them live their life past teenage years?

Louis Charming. That was her destined prince. From some minor Charming family. They didn't know each other before legacy day, but they both agreed to take it slow, first being friends.

First, they would have short conversations about general things at lunch and between classes. Then they would from time to time go together for a coffee, to get to know each other better. After that, they started going to the library together to do homework and study. Sometimes they would just be in the garden together not saying a word, Ophelia doing her gardening, and Louis reading a book. Just feeling the presence of each other was enough. Nothing romantic yet, just platonic for start.

Then he started bringing her gifts. Nothing big, just some simple thing things she liked. Her favorite flowers, favorite chocolate, new tools for the garden, and a pretty embroidery set. Small things that she appreciated. And she started giving him some small gifts. Books he liked, his favorite childhood dish, embroidering his new cape and gloves with things he likes. They started spending more time together. Having breakfast together in the garden, walking trought woods, going horse riding, dancing together at night knowing they're alone.

They were falling in love slowly but deeply. Their love was simple and quiet. They understand each other the way no one else could. And Ophelia wasn't scared anymore.

That's until she held her daughter crying in her arms about how she rebelled and fell in love with a boy named Hunter Huntsman, who was not her destined prince, and how she was scared of destiny. That's when she remembered her scared and lonely teenage self.

She couldn't put her daughter through that, she loves her little girl too much for that. Ophelia knows that many of her friends would not approve of her choice, especially a certain queen. But she's ready to burn all bridges with Snow White for her daughter.

Time for the first one that everyone has been waiting for- Prince Jonas Lofton on the stand

Tsarina Ekaterina: "You know why you're here, today, Jonas, right." Prince Jonas: "Yes, Ma'am. It's time to let the cat out of the bag." Tsarina Ekaterina: "A lot of people have been waiting for your trial. You're the only legitimate son of a very hated man, high up in the ranks of a corrupt government, the person whom this war was allegedly started over. I'm sure many of those watching today are waiting to see a harsh punishment handed down to you for everything you've done. So why don't you confess to the people right here, right now?"

Prince Jonas: "Here is my confession- I have been working as a spy for the Tsarina since the beginning of the war." Members of the Public: *loud gasps and mumers of shock* Tsarina Ekaterina: "Can we have order please? Continue, Jonas." Prince Jonas: "Crown Princess Ophelia and I have remained friends, after our break up, despite what my father would have you believe, and it was I who learnt about my father's plans to start a war in my name, and I immediately notified the Crown Princess so she could warn her mother, the Tsarina. From then on I worked closely with my father in his war room, becoming one of his most trusted officers, and diligently passing on every single piece of information I had to the Tsarina, allowing her to formulate plans to cut my father's forces off where they could. When I was posted to Tartosa, I continued to pass on any information from my father that I had to the Allied Forces, as well as working closely with King Petros Kalogera to undermine my father's efforts there where possible."

(Crown Princess Ophelia watches from the sidelines, her friendship with her ex a shock to the world! Emperor Victor also watches from the defendants box, furious with the discovery that his son was a spy for the Empress the whole time.)

Prince Jonas: "When my engagement was arranged to Lady Johanna Albrecht against either of our wills, I formulated a plan with the Tsarina to liberate Tartosa at the earliest possibility. When I was then located at the Imperial Palace, I worked as a member of the Allied Forces War Council, as an advisor on potential plans my father may make. I recieved information from my niece, Princess Emma Lofton-Strauss, on the occupation in Newcrest and worked with the council to create a plan of invasion there as well. I have worked as the Tsarina's liason with the 'guests' also staying at the imperial palace- such as Lady Johanna Albrecht, Mrs. Felicity Castellano, and my family after their removal from Sulani. I confess that I have been a terrible Windenburgian, if the characteristsics of a Windenburgian are what my father dictates, but hopefully a decent human being." Members of the Public: *jump to their feet, standing ovation. Jonas, is moved to tears* Tsarina Ekaterina: "Order please, order. Thank you. And thank you, Prince Jonas. For everything you have done, everything you have sacrificed, for the peaceful end to this war. Without you, this war would've gone on for much longer, with many more lives lost. This court commends you."

Prince Jonas: "It was an honor to serve you, Ma'am." Tsarina Ekaterina: " There's more we have to say to you, Prince Jonas, but we'd like to save it for the end of the trials if we may. Please return to your seat, we'll bring you back up later."

Holy Cow!! One of the most hated men in the world has turned out to be the most honorable man in the world! The person who everyone blamed for the start of this war has turned out to have been working as a high level undercover spy for the Allied Forces this whole time! For the entire war the internet has dragged his name through the mud, blaming him for throwing a fit that he got broken up with, when it turns out, he and the Crown Princess were friends this whole time, and despite being mercilessly attacked in the media, he was working tirelessly to undermine his father's efforts and bring and end to the war! We just cannot believe it! It's too crazy! All we have to say is, we're sincerely sorry for any slander against your good name we may have spread during the war, Prince Jonas, you're one of the good ones.

Princess Ophelia, Queen of Brindleton (1823-1903)

Princess Ophelia was the second eldest child of Queen Mary II and her husband Prince Charles, the Earl of Statford. The Princess grew up in the shadow of her older and "prettier" sister. Despite this, her intelligence and wit attracted many suitors including the widowed Crown Prince Paul of Brindleton whom she would later marry in 1842. Princess Ophelia was an affectionate mother to her stepchildren and two daughters whom she loved equally. As queen consort of Brindleton, she devoted her time to funding hospitals and organizing charities for her people. When the Brindleton Monarchy was deposed for the first time in 1892, during the reign of her stepson, she traveled with the royal family into exile in Brichester. The former Queen split her time between Windenburg and Brichester, she would never see Brindleton again. Instead, Ophelia would face a series of hardships including the death of her daughter, Princess Irene, and the execution of her grandson, Prince Heinrich of Mannheim. The Queen died in 1903 at the San Myshuno Palace, a year before the Brindleton Monarchy was reinstated.

ROYAL WEDDING VENUE REVEALED!

After much speculation, the Palace announced today that The Crown Princess Anya and Gus have selected the venue for their upcoming wedding.

The royal wedding will take place at the grand and historic Brindleton Abbey, it has been confirmed.

The Palace released a statement earlier today, which reads;

"Her Royal Highness The Crown Princess and Mr. Aslan have chosen to be married at Brindleton Abbey later this Autumn.

The Abbey has played a huge part in the Royal Family’s history. Throughout its 300-year legacy, Brindleton Abbey has witnessed over a dozen royal weddings, and numerous coronations, including HM The Queen’s, and her late father’s, King Leopold."

Brindleton Abbey was also the site for King Leopold and Queen Ophelia's wedding. Although it was first speculated that Anya and Gus will marry at St. Patrick's Abbey like The Queen and Prince Jacques, the couple ultimately decided to pick the far larger and grander Abbey.

As it turns out, The Queen and Prince Jacques were also set to wed at Brindleton Abbey, however, due to massive restoration works being conducted at that time, they were forced to reconsider and pick a completely different venue, later "settling" for the equally beautiful St. Patrick's Abbey in Central Brindleton.

The announcement also included a brief message of thanks from the newly-engaged couple:

"The Crown Princess and Mr. Aslan wish to convey their gratitude for all the well-wishes and wonderful messages they have received on the occasion of their engagement; they are also very much looking forward to celebrating their union at the Abbey, with their family, friends, and the people of Brindleton."

The wedding is all systems go, it seems! Now we're left to wonder what dress and tiara Anya will be wearing down the aisle! We really can't wait!

D&D hivemind I need help again

What are some reasons why a crown prince (and his wife) would choose to keep the existence of their child a secret/pretend that the child was by his younger brother (and his wife) instead

Out of wedlock is an obvious choice, but it doesn't quite feel right for the story in my campaign.... OR there could be a super convoluted political reason as to why...

A little extra context;

The child Ophelia is now 18, and grew up believing that her father was the younger prince. The crown prince, Emory, passed away approximately 2 years before my campaign takes place

Green = the actual familial relation between the princess and her parents

Red = the current line of succession, where Woodrow is the newly crowned king

Yellow stars = the line of Southern Lords implanting themselves and their influence into the royal family to eventually overthrow the family line so they gain control of the continent

I'm just having trouble thinking of an interesting and plausible reason why Emory and Loretta gave their child to Woodrow, who was probably only like 18 years old himself when he was given the baby

Did they simply know that Loretta's father wanted his heir on the throne? Or was Loretta in on her father and grandfather's scheme and Emory just didn't want to be a father?

Emory's death, in my mind, was from natural causes, but perhaps it was an assassination? In that case, why did it take sixteen years after the birth of the princess for him to die?

Meanwhile, King Soren and Lord Kane were, for all intents and purposes, best friends, which is why they arranged the partnership between Emory and Loretta. Kane was Soren's chief advisor, so he was already well on his way to influencing the king's decisions in his and his family's favour

I feel like all the threads are there, I'm just unsure how to tie them together
