I can finally post this now, my finalized interactive spaces project, Thinking With Portals :)
General Concept
Basically wanted to make the portals from portal 2 irl, since this is my best costume and I've always loved looking at old youtube videos of people making glados in real life and what not. When my professor said we could make literally anything for this project I knew what I had to do. The user walks onto a pressure plate which triggers the portal to open. Looking forward shows the user top down, and looking upwards shows the user facing forwards :)
Software/Hardware used
Processing- Used to take the live feed of 2 webcams and place them behind a masking animation
Arduino- Used to add pressure sensing to the processing sketch
Krita- Used to create each frame of the blue and orange portal opening and closing animations
Mad Mapper- Used to project only half of the processing sketch on each projector, and ties both projectors together
ScreenCaptureSyphon- Used to record the processing sketch and send it to Mad Mapper for projection
Eventually I'll have a github page for both this final project and one of my interim steps, which is a portal that works with your webcam and your keyboard lol I am SO burnt out from finals tho so it may take me a while to figure out how in the world to publish things to github

What's BBA in your world like?
Tumblr media
My... World...? um. Don't quite understand that, but...
Tumblr media
Sure, I can talk about BBA! It's a school focused around Mystery Dungeons and all the professions related to that!
Tumblr media
There's a ton of different tracks! I'm in the Explorer track, which means I'm focused on exploration and rescues within Mystery Dungeons! Most of the people in this track are aiming to be on Rescue Teams!
Tumblr media
I'm... not. Um. Not aiming for a Rescue Team job, that is. Don't get me wrong, I'd - I'd love too! But... that's. just a dream. not realistic for an idiot like me.
Tumblr media
I'm going to be the village guide for Kitakami.
Tumblr media
Which is! A super great job! I'm super honored to have received it! Don't get me wrong!
Tumblr media
Um! Sorry - got - got pretty distracted there. Um, BBA has a bunch of different tracks! Explorers, which I already explained... Mappers - which are people who work on mapping different layouts and notating where Mystery Dungeons are and if they're stable or disappearing; Researchers, those are the people doing all the research on Mystery Dungeons, like how and why they effect space the way they do, the history behind them, all that stuff! Some of that... goes over my head a little. Medics, of course! Super important track, they do all the research for healing and medicine as well as being general doctors and things, but they focus on Mystery-Dungeon based maladies like Dungeon Madness! Plus Item-Crafters, who learn to appraise and make items used or found in Mystery Dungeon! I think there may also be an Economics track, but... I don't know much about that one, actually...

Somebody write a book where a mapper (i dunno the correct term but like a person who draws maps) accidentally spills some ink on their latest map but they can't be bothered to correct their mistakes and so the ink blot stays and when the map circulates everyone thinks it's like a secret island and through some rumors a pirate captain and their crew start to believe that there's a treasure on that island and so they sail off to find the island but turns out it doesn't exist and the pirate captain is so mad that they decide to hunt down the mapper (it's a term now, deal with it) and when they finally meet, the pirate captain bursts into the room, ready to strangle that damned person who sent them on a doomed journey but then their eyes meet and BAM- the captain is in love instantly and from then on it's just a journey where mapper and pirate captain travel across the sea and slowly establish their relationship

Okay!
So second credits additional thoughts since my first credits wrap up:
Orb quest not so bad, kinda neat, but also fails to impress in some ways and that's okay.
I assumed the orb quest would suck entirely and be the grindiest slowest most annoying thing around because everything I had heard was how you HAVE to seek out a True Sage in order to unlock fast travel or else the grind is annoying.
The thing is, that sentiment, is correct!
But!
If you just want to "beat it" that's okay!
What those sentiments are referring to would be the immense amount of backtracking, pointless dungeons, and RNG you must endure if you're trying to max out your caravan by recruiting True caravan members (such as the aforementioned Sage).
That part SUCKS!
It's SO many layers of RNG and requires SO much backtracking that doing so without a True Sage to teleport you to every town every single time you finish a color orb dungeon is MADNESS!
So mad, that I didn't remotely bother lol
What that sentiment is NOT referring to, in my opinion, is the actual orb quest itself which is FAR more reasonable than I thought it would be.
You really do get a ton of orbs every "rotation", with a rotation being "Grab the orbs, do a dungeon (you have to spend at least 1 orb to do that) then grab the orbs again by exploring the world again".
A rotation actually isn't that bad at all. You get Seers and mappers through the main quest and that's all you need to know where the orbs are located. A that point getting around the world to grab them really isn't that bad with the Wings at your disposal.
Now. Doing this without them would suck and if I recall is 100% possible.
But, on my playthrough I got 3 of the wings (didn't get the buff dungeon illusion's until I was already finished) and it made things a complete breeze. A touch annoying using the ports all the time, but it's really not so bad getting to big blinking dots on the map compared to visiting EVERY SINGLE TOWN for SHEER RNG HELL like the caravan grind would have been lol
The orbs themselves are not that bad! And you get so many that you don't have to do too many rotations to completely finish the quest! Assuming you use 4 of the same color etc which I don't recall finding any NPC mentioning that specifically, but hey, I'm telling you- if you use 4 of the same color you guarantee a spirit dungeon which is what you're going for, there ya go.
The spirit fights were reasonable too, literally no complaints there, I really enjoyed going through their little dungeons and fighting them.
The big bad was a little rough but that was mostly my investment slipping away- I can already tell by the fact I could beat him with save states, 1 more breeding session and he was toast, which is honestly reasonable to have considered- after saving the illusions it would make sense to breed for one last team- I just didn't :P
But altogether my thoughts on the color orb quest are "It's WAY better than I thought it would be, I thought it would be garbage though so that's not high praise so much as moderate praise" and "It's still a failure in terms of letting the caravan shine".
As I said in a prior post, the base game doesn't let you play with the caravan recruits worth a damn to the point that it feels like a poorly implemented feature. This second quest is LITERALLY where you get to play with them- it's where new stronger variants spawn and you can farm out a perfect caravan team. And it's ruined by RNG and backtracking lol
Without a true sage it's unreasonably tedious, and even with one the RNG layers involved are OBSCENE, it's just.... stupid.
Why revolve so much focus around this new feature, then skimp on letting the player enjoy it in the base game, and then shyly hide away the potentially rewarding gameplay of actually playing with it in the post game by putting 10 tons of "grind forever" RNG on it?
Bleh.
But yeah.
Orb quest, actually kinda fun. The parts I thought would be tedious were either "Not as bad as I expected" (orbs) or "Were so bad that I stopped trying" (caravan) so my experience was actually mostly orb dungeons and I liked that. Not bad.
My overall opinions on Caravan Hearts remain the same as the first credits.
It's "Mid". It's, as of typing, my least favorite DQM game that I've played, but it's not "dumpster fire" bad.
It's interesting, it's different as all hell, and in my opinion it's heavily flawed and fails to have Fun with the caravan aspect- instead making it a burden.
It's a burden in the early game.
It's pointless in the mid game.
And it's turned into a tedious grind in the post game for no reason.
It's never once allowed to be "fun" when it's the entire Heart of this Caravan Heart title lol
Game is Okay. I would personally recommend pretty much any other DQM title instead to people :)
I am now going to go see if I can access the Dragonlord castle to look at him. I had heard he's far easier than the final boss was, but IDK, after having abused 'time powers' to beat the last guy, I think the 'ol Dragon Quest DL might be allowed to live this time around lol

#51: Solve Et Coagula (2023)
Tumblr media
Download ^^
Nicolas Monti is a mapper I've wanted to cover on here before (Erkatanne is one of my fave sets of all time) and this caught my eye during the Cacoward festivities. Plus we're on a Doom 1 kick right now so why not, right?
If you're not familiar with Monti's works, they feel stuck in a vacuum of 90s wads, yet completely alien and downright inhuman in nature. Not even AI could make something this layered and calculated to destroy you. I thought - prior to playing this - that No End in Sight was one of the only hard Doom 1 WADs out there; well, Solve Et Coagula is quite the nail-biter.
It feels as though you're in a stage play set in the Shores of Hell theme, as maps weave upon each other and you're constantly 1 misstep away from falling back down another level to the prior battleground you were in. Secrets are INCREDIBLY cryptic, progression in general is complex. Some maps are linear, others what I'd call "linear-branching" - nonlinear, yes; but all roads lead to Rome at the end of the day. Take for instance, the penultimate map of the set - E2M7.
It has you going across defunct tram rails inches away from a fiery hurtfloor going mad hunting for keys, your sanity waning and health depleted (resource starvation is a major factor in this WAD's difficulty). You feel cramped and claustrophobic - every new area you reach feels like it's been totally and completely overrun, and in this sense I think "Solve Et" captures its influence all too well. I DID have to cheat in this map, I was short on time and couldn't figure out a certain progression point but I was 25 minutes deep, can you blame me?
Regardless, the rest of this set is treat after treat AFTER treat. It is as abrasive as it is familiar - Monti's gift to modern Doom mapping is by treating the medium as true art and doing his own thing. That's why I love when mappers go outside the norm - sets like Reverie, for instance.
There's more I could say - the fact that it sticks to vanilla resources and compat for the entire thing - the lack of new music sans secret map - any of it really, but I'll cap this off with the set's closer. It's a Cyberdemon gauntlet that is one of the biggest head-twisters on this set that really takes it from one set design philosophy and makes it feel complete.
It's a kick in the balls to play this, but you'll be feeling glad by the end. Caco-worthy fo-sho.

Blog Week 12
Reflection
After reviewing the seamless nature of my project, I addressed the dissimilar elements within my work. The consistent switches in colour made the shifts between shapes more blaring. To combat this I changed the colour hex to #C317DF being purple. Aside from this having white and grey tonal shifts all the elements were within this colour hex, making the project more visually seamless. After this a lot of the workload consisted of creating the seamless transition between the motion graphics, I did them mostly with playing within keyframes of the position, scale and opacity as well as keyframing multiple distortion effects.
Research
Academic
In Naz Kaya’s research piece ‘Relationship between color and emotion: a study of college students’ delves into the emotional relationships people have with certain colours. This piece ensured me of the color to pick when choosing a consistent color palette for my exhilarating abstract video art. Purple was seen within the principal hues and seen to be “stately and dignified”. It was stated that the “ positive aspects of purple are tended to mainly be associated with children and laughing”. As a lot of my previous research discusses the importance of fearful play to create exhilaration in children this quote made me feel drawn to pick the color purple as my primary color in my project.
Creative practice
For my creative practice I have been watching back my project multiple times and really pinpointing the areas that needed polishing. Here are some stills from my after effects composition of my finial motion graphics.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
( some of the comps that are being used)
Technical
This week technically consisted of finalising the master timeline of my project within After Effects and rendering it. My internal RAM seems to be quite full on my laptop which has created some slower processing issues and caused the media encoder to stop working but I was able to troubleshoot these by clearing some other abode disk caches. For the next week forward as I am presenting a version of my project with my triangular shapes of mad mapper I will need to go in on Monday and glue them all together. With the open studio classes and curating the digital exhibitions, I have been post poning putting more of the shapes in the black box until this upcoming Monday.
Progress
Overall as this project comes to a conclusion this week has consisted of final renders and completing the presentation regarding a reflection of the final assignment. Overall I feel happy with my work there are definitely aspects I am not as proud of but overall this process has helped me enormously better understand working in motion graphics, projection mapping and working with music. I tend to get very ambitious about projects at the smart so the slow process of troubleshooting every week allowed me to come to terms with the importance of creating an achievable project within the deadline required.

A Quick Look at all Games on the Kruidvat Famiclone (Part 2)
Cuz I can't get enough of messed up 8-bit sprites.
First of all, I checked Temu for retro consoles for the funny and I kid you not, these handhelds are quite literally one of the first results you'd get. Seems like our stores bought these and it's variations in bulk and slapped their own box together. Intriguing to say the least.
After a bit of research, i've discovered that someone's made a video before of this specific hardware, lemme share that rq
youtube
As it turns out, the first 28 games on this journey are going to be the more complex of the bunch, featuring ROM hacks of games with a mapper chips that isn't just the original one from the early 1980s. Doesn't mean the rest of the games aren't hilarious in themselves, but the games they're based on will be a bit more predictable overall.
With that outta the way, here's the vast majority of those remaining 20 'big' games in my own words! Check the video (and part 2) if you wanna see footage.
#009 - Boy Sport
A ROM hack of another Famicom game, Downtown Nekketsu March Super-Awesome Field Day. What's interesting about this one is that it skips multiple menus to get to the game. The sprite changes come down to everyone having helmets that cover their faces, so that you can only distinguish them by their pants colors.
Still an interesting novelty that it was fully translated into (horrible) English.
#010 - Racing Car
A ROM hack of Race America. Has the most bootleggy menu screens of all times, you wouldn't expect this to be based on a real game by the way it looks initially. Seems like the game is fairly in-depth, but I don't care one bit to actually play it right now.
#011 - Mad Foot Ball - The World Club of Soccer League
A ROM hack Kunio-kun no Nekketsu Soccer League. Don't even get me started on this one. You start with an off-center title screen that reads 'Goal3', cuz it's another bootleg of a bootleg of course.
Then a Teletubby flaps his mouth and says nothing, remarkably close to the real thing. The game itself isn't THAT radically different... except every instance of the game having to translate Japanese text ends up in complete gibberish, including player names. Ever wanted to play as Korean superstars 'Cflu' and 'Morx', disguised as characters from a baby show? There you go, very much worth it.
#012 - Ares
A ROM hack of Captain America and the Avengers. You play as some fat guy cosplaying as the titular superhero as everyone confuses him for the real thing. The music resets every time you kill an enemy, making sure you remember the days of the Intellivision doing that exact thing in Donkey Kong Jr.
...I'm pretty sure the enemies are just Contra soilders.
#013 - Justice
I can hear Vinny's impression of Duke Nukem from a mile away. In fact, the guy on the title screen looks similar to the Dukester himself. Huh. Enter the game annnnd... it's the first game that I can't actually identify?
Yeah, you kinda walk forward at a sluggish pace, while hard-to-identify enemies speed towards you. Their color palettes are all off, while the background looks stripped right from Castlevania. I have no idea what this is. With the title screen being very simple and the way you enter the game extremely quick, something tells me this is one of those games specifically made FOR these Famiclones.
Someone wanna help me out with this one?
#014 - Caesar Captain
Fun quirk, James Bond Jr. exists. This is that game with pukey colors and the protagonist vaguely resembling a captain. Woa
#015 - Dream World
You know a game is good when the logo starts squashed, and then unsquahes itself with FANCY EFFECTS. ...It also has a Cptions menu. How do you pronounce THAT one I wonder?
This is a ROM hack from Kick Master, with someone absolutely destroying the flute in the soundtrack. Apparently, Mario also shows up as an enemy somewhere along the line. Must've been his spotlight taken away if this was originally like, Mario 18 or something.
#016 - Woody Story
Licensed by Nhoooooooooooooooooooooooooden.
Ya like Toy Story so much, you wanna see it on NES? ...Too bad, this is The Jungle Book instead. For some reason, they decided to make the options menu dysfunctional. Everything else is the same as always. No Woody in sight.
Conclusion
Sorry for taking a week for the second part to come out aaaaaa. I'll be more on the case as i'm trying to not obsess over F-Zero 99... *as* much. I'll see you guys soon.

Rassilon's Visionary, Last Mapper of Gallifrey?
I wonder if The Visionary from The End of Time was a Mapper, or some Pythian/Karn equivalent. Obviously the Sisterhood of Karn is already far more mystical than orthodox Gallifreyan society and her alias isn't reeeaaallly a timekeeping pun like we are told most Mappers went with, but there are still some things which make me ponder it.
Tumblr media
Most obviously there's the fact that she spends 90% of her time scribbling and scrawling prophecies in Circular Gallifreyan that are treated with the utmost seriousness by Rassilon & his cronies, which naturally reminds me of the most famous Mapper in the wider Whoniverse, Auteur (if we believe his story, of course)
And while that is mostly an Auteur "thing" specifically it's perfectly possible other Mappers would keep a penchant for using their language of temporal cartography quite...obsessively, as the Visionary does.
Tumblr media
The Visionary also seems to be a few silly collars short of a High Council; we are told that when all the Mappers were plugged into the ancient Gallifreyan Matrix to download their memories and "map" out the new chronology of the Anchored universe, they were first haphazardly drugged with hallucinogens from across the universe in what can only be described as the Time Lord equivalent of MKUltra. It is said explicitly that this process broke the minds of every Mapper to undergo it (aka every Mapper)
The Visionary also has very interesting tattoos, which one could read as similar to the tattooed star chart that adorned the mad Time Lord and (retroactively implied) Mapper Astrolabus, who was eventually skinned for having done so and, well we're not quite sure what happened to him...
Tumblr media
A minor point of note is also that the Visionary was specifically welcomed onto Rassilon's Council; something interesting if we assume her to be a Mapper, a member of the Sisterhood of Karn or even both, due to the history Rassilon has with...well basically everything in Gallifreyan history to be frank with you.
But regardless, Mappers were one of the first generations of loomed Time Lords after the Anchoring of the Thread, created on Rassilon's orders to observe and "map" the new spacetime continuum of the rational universe. If anyone would know that a Mapper, maddened or not, would be useful to him on his council during the Last Great Time War, it's Rassilon.
Tumblr media
(As an aside, the depiction of the Anchoring of the Thread in Doctor Who: Flux and its additions does make me ponder if Mappers were in fact a Division project specifically, but that's a theory for another day)

DBP19: A Doomer Boards Christmas Carol
25 Maps by the Doomer Boards Community
2019
https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/themes/xmas/dbp19xmas2
Tumblr media
MAP01: Christmas Eve Part I by Big Ol' Billy
The first teaser to this new adventure is a small hub that shows us a cozy house that follows a simple Christmas narrative to set the mood. 4/5
Tumblr media
MAP02: Hornaments by Big Ol' Billy
The first actual map with combat, and it is quickly let go. A circular arena with a considerable amount of enemies surrounding us. The dark design and simplistic architecture give it a rather ominous feel. We will also quickly discover one of the new hidden mechanics: shooting the bells. 3/5
Tumblr media
MAP03: Christmas Eve Part II by Big Ol' Billy
All maps will have an intermission that leads to the main hub, which also acts as a progress and rest center for reading Christmas letters. A fantastic idea that generates a unique identity. 4/5
Tumblr media
MAP04: Festive Neighbours by Phobus
Following the tradition of MAP02 but this time in a frame. Enemies are far away and in ambush positions, waiting for the perfect moment to attack. With a claustrophobic design and a bit lost at times (the bells are well hidden) is a map that takes relatively a little more than it should. 3/5
Tumblr media
MAP05: Christmas Eve Part III by Big Ol' Billy
Next intermission, this time we realize that our lovely home is starting to be invaded by bad guys. Oh, Sa(n)tan will be mad. 3/5
Tumblr media
MAP06: The Pilgrim and the Hermit by Gaspe
A large map with a rather intricate and claustrophobic design that leads to a variety of paths with various small puzzles and bloody combat. The cold is felt in the hooves. 4/5
Tumblr media
MAP07: Christmas Eve Part IV by Big Ol' Billy
Haha. Good times. 3/5
Tumblr media
MAP08: Surprise! by glenzinho
A medium-sized Doom-city style map with a surprising design, a multitude of secrets, a small ''bell hunt'' and a progressive combat that changes and varies constantly. Fun and full of Christmas spirit. And demonic spirit too. 4/5
Tumblr media
MAP09: Christmas Eve Part V by Big Ol' Billy
An intermission with a... surprise... ending. 3/5
Tumblr media
MAP10: Winter Wonderland by Phobus
A surprising wonder, dark, cold and with a unique touch that delivers a variety of visual designs on a large map with fun gameplay that flows seamlessly. 4/5
Tumblr media
MAP11: Christmas Eve Part VI by Big Ol' Billy
A hot little adventure. 3/5
Tumblr media
MAP12: The Nut After November by SuperCupcakeTactics and glenzinho
That name is unique. For that alone it deserves an extra point. Anyway, this is a medium-large map with a multitude of interconnected roads and tight combat. Fun and with a good Christmas charisma. Hope you aren’t afraid of spiders. 4/5
Tumblr media
MAP13: Christmas Eve Part VII by Big Ol' Billy
Ah yes, hello. 3/5
Tumblr media
MAP14: Two Sizes Too Small by Doom_RO
A huge adventure that involves hunting different bells and quite aggressive combats through a detailed map with a pleasant and well designed design. Unfortunately, the bell hunting can be a bit irritating due to the simple nature of switch-hunting in its primordial state, but it's still a great map. 4/5
Tumblr media
MAP15: Christmas Eve Part VIII by Big Ol' Billy
Did you know that Xmas in Romania is beautiful? 3/5
Tumblr media
MAP16: Christmas Tree Mountain by Scrangus McBrickdad/Jaxxoon R and glenzinho
A large map with a relatively small population for its size. With an intricate design and variety of scenarios, it has a fun formula but its layout is somewhat slippery and the progression is somewhat affected. 3/5
Tumblr media
MAP17: Christmas Eve Part IX by Big Ol' Billy
Now we explore more and more of the city in these short intermissions. 3/5
Tumblr media
MAP18: Xmasphobia by Thundercunt
A claustrophobic and cramped map with a labyrinthine design vaguely reminiscent of Tricks 'N' Traps meets Fear of Plutonia. Interesting premise with great design. 4/5
Tumblr media
MAP19: Christmas Eve Part X by Big Ol' Billy
Probably the hottest intermission, to the point that it could be considered a tiny map. 3/5
Tumblr media
MAP20: Krampus Anomaly by dmdr
An excellent map with a great flow and exquisite combat, varied and with constant dynamics between the player and the fun, coupled with a good design and understandable layout. 4/5
Tumblr media
MAP21: Christmas Eve Part XI by Big Ol' Billy
An intermission that reveals us beyond the labyrinth. Optional but rewarding exploration. 3/5
Tumblr media
MAP22: Where Cybneezer Hid Christmas by joe-ilya
A small adventure through a kind of infnerla mansion. Secret paths and dense combat make this map a fun mission. 3/5
Tumblr media
MAP23: Christmas Eve Part XII by Big Ol' Billy
The last intermission makes us take a walk through the wintry and dark city to get ready for the last adventure... or maybe not. 3/5
Tumblr media
MAP24: Realm of Christmas Time by Big Ol' Billy
The "fine" map, in quotes, is a great entertaining arena with a kind of dynamic IoS that makes us face a huge variety of enemies in a small circular arena. Fun and frenetic in an expansive Christmas violence. 4/5
Tumblr media
MAP25: Christmas Morning by Big Ol' Billy
The so famous city of the intermissions is finally given its own use in a magnificent slaughter map that will stop us in our tracks. Enormous, large and with an incredible challenge for all players. The ultimate Christmas present goes out with a boom. You're not supposed to win it (it's technically impossible) but it's a fun and crazy way to end this wad. 4/5
Overall:
» DBP19: A Doomer Boards Christmas Carol (2019) By the Doomer Boards Community
We all want to get into the enchanting spirit of the sweet Christmas season as December approaches. Nothing like celebrating the times of peace, love and understanding among all beings as by doing it in the most holy and fantastic way possible: Killing demons. Those infernal sinners are not going to clean themselves and we are here to do it. Thanks to the fantastic criminal minds of the members of the Doomer Boards Community, we have been given a fantastic Christmas installment that has all the necessary requirements to recreate a good Christmas spirit; blood, violence, guns and many, many demons. Ready to celebrate Christmas? Hit it.
A Doomer Boards Christmas Carol is a project created by the famous krew that this time is launched towards the winter celebrations of Christmas, creating a theme focused entirely on the Christmas touch of the game and redesigning textures and skins for almost the entire project, perfectly invoking that Christmas spirit that few can achieve with a game that was practically identified as a form of 3D Satanism (although it was not exactly released at Christmas, it is a Christmas game in my heart) that would launch to the market a re-copied and unique style. That of being gory and disturbing. Well, let's take the core of Doom and now give it a new twist, one that has lots of snow, cookies, warm milk, presents, red socks and some coal for the bad kids. The result? A grandiose 25-map project (half of them small intermissions) that perfectly re-invents the celebratory style into a Christmas mood that successfully recreates the game on, you guessed it, Christmas. Or something like that.
DBP19 is a fascinating project like no other that really manages to reach those standards and deliver white maps full of passion, identity and a lot of fun. Thanks to the new use of textures and the hilarious re-skins, we now have a new paint scheme for the entire game that takes us out of the hellish air and into a cooler and, uh, wholesome kind of hell.
Starting with MAP01 by @Big Ol Billy, the first map actually works as a kind of intermission/hub-styled map that makes us progress the game accompanied by a small Christmas narrative where the different members of the team give us little stories and messages about what awaits us or the story. A little touch that gives it a nice charisma. @Big Ol Billy does practically all the intermissions, as well as a few other independent maps. MAP02 continues the adventure and this time throws us directly into a combat arena that presents us with two important aspects: 1) the visual style and 2) the new mechanic of hunting ''bells'', something like switch-hunting but more simplified. MAP03 is one more intermission made by the same author, and from now on all the maps with odd number are intermissions. MAP04 by @Phobus is a re-interpretation of the first map but with a more painting style and less mercy. Gaspe comes into action with his MAP06 which gives us a great rock fortress in a world of ice full of action and beautiful visuals. MAP08 by @Glenzinho is, as the title says, a violent surprise that shows an excellent Doom-City style. @Phobus returns with MAP10 in an intricate and tight map with dark corners and welcoming demons. MAP12 by @SuperCupcakeTactics and @glenzinho wins the award for most innovative and fun title I've read all year, luckily not all is title but also essence as this is a fascinating map that combines the two styles of mappers under a perfect synergy of emotion and visual sweetness. MAP14 by @Doom_RO is a huge odyssey that makes us look for different bells while we go through different scenarios making our way through rivers of demons, all in an exciting Christmas adventure. Oh yeah. MAP16 by @Scrangus McBrickdad/Jaxxoon R and @glenzinho pits us against a huge map with amazing visuals but a somewhat confusing layout that compensates with a nice touch of detail and variety of scenarios. Thundercunt (hehe) delivers a labyrinthine and different adventure that contains as many goodies as the demons in MAP18. MAP20 by @dmdr is a fascinating ice adventure that takes us on a journey with good flow, fun combat and excellent presentation. @joe-ilya delivers a mysterious and cold mansion in MAP22, full of demons, Masterminds and a few surprises in the basement. Finally, MAP24: Realm of Christmas Time by Big Ol' Billy is an excellent final scene as we face off in a small arena-style map against a variety of enemies and a sort of modified IoS that delivers thrills and excitement. Like the good little kids, we've been. Of course, the final intermission in MAP25 is what we call a total beast that actually works like a credits map but with a twist.
Wow that was a lot of maps! Probably among the biggest (or actually biggest) DBP, quite the gift!
This winter adventure deliberates with solid greece a delivery of 25 maps full of charisma, fun, gifts and everything we need to feel comfortable and accompanied on a lonely Christmas night while the snow crashes against our windows. Not that I can relate to that because where I live it doesn't snow, but at least with this project I have managed to relate the sweet effect of nostalgia with the innocence of yesteryear where we simply wanted to enjoy Doom in its purest form. Well, this is the purest way to enjoy it at Christmas! Or practically any month, after all I'm playing this in the middle of summer. Hehe. Anyway, want some cookies? Come and get them.
