This was such a great year for books! My TBR pile never once came close to empty and I always had a plethora of choices to choose from. I had a hard choice trying to decide what my top favs would be but ultimately decided on books that I know I would love to read again and again. All of these books were stories I couldn't put down and sacrificed sleep over - all extremely well worth it!

That Self-Same Metal (Forge & Fracture Sage #1) by Brittany N. Williams

A key headcanon for Phlox and Gale's story is the fact that they knew each other as children. Morena Dekarios had a great relationship with her parents, Ophelia and Elas Nanadi, and would often take trips to the village of Deergarde for business, bringing a young Gale along with her. The young human and elf were practically inseparable and shared great adventures together - one of her favorites was when he would read her stories of magical kingdoms and quests full of kings and queens and knights on fantastical beasts.

Once he became the prodigal wizard and Mystra's Chosen, those adventures in the woodlands of Deergarde faded away. Morena assured her that he was okay, but she then slowly made less frequent trips to visit. Phlox took up research of Mystra on the side, to learn more about the Goddess of Magic and wondered what her friend's life was like now in the palm of Her hand.

The pair were reunited from the Nautiloid kidnappings, but Gale was.. different. All those memories he shared of her? Gone. Similarly to Shadowheart, it seemed, he remembered a majority of his life up until the time he became Her Chosen. But why not her? What had happened during all those years apart? But Phlox remembered. She remembered the shy and bright boy he once was. She remembered the adventures, the laughter, the comfort. She remembered Gale Dekarios.

So imagine her shock and pain in hearing about his relationship with the Goddess and the demise She was knowingly leading him towards. About the orb he harbors and the catastrophic power it wields; one that he's willing to face and die alone to in the name of a Goddess who never loved him like he loved her.

Things I Want For Frozen 3 ((And A Little Bit Of What I could See Happening))

First things first. I’m just putting my personal thoughts & feelings out into to void. If you don’t like/agree with some of the things I put here, that’s fine. Just please be respectful.

- I want a redemption arc for Hans. Yes, I’m starting off with what is probably one of my most controversial opinions in the Frozen fandom. As for why I want a redemption arc...there’s a few reasons for that. For starters, seeing as Hans didn’t actually kill anyone, I could see it as being a bit easier to redeem him, as opposed to how Disney has been trying to redeem/victimise their other villians in the recent movies we’ve been getting ((Especially if the info I’ve heard about A Frozen Heart is meant to be taken as canon)) 2. Disney has made it pretty clear that they want to tell more complex stories & I think redeeming the man who betrayed Anna in the first film could be a bit more of a complex story to tell 3. I just like Hans & want to see more of him. ;-; 

All that being said, I’m aware this most likely won’t happen, due to the fact that it’s probably going to be viewed as too difficult of a task & Hans isn’t loved as much by both the Disney company & by fans. 

- I want Elsa to remain single. There, I’ve said it! I’m not really sure if I feel like Elsa is aro/ace or not but either way, I just don’t really see Elsa having an active interest in romance. Also I feel like if she does get hooked up with someone, fans of any of the other ships involving her will get pissed & the whole fandom will become a shit show.

- I want to see Elsa & Anna actively work twards solving a problem together. It’s gotten pretty annoying for me that the movies we’ve gotten so far love to have these two sisters get split up & come up with their own separate plans, one thing leads to another & somehow the day is magically saved! Can I please just have one time, where Elas & Anna both work out a plan by talking to eachother & working things out as a team?!?

- I want Olaf, Kristoff & Sven to have a narrative reason to actually be in the plot. Seriously, Frozen II did these boys dirty. by having them just be there, but not really serve any purpose to the main plot. Also, Olaf was annoying in F2 & that crime needs to be fixed.

- Last but not least, I want F3 to have memorable songs. I’m sorry but, the songs in F2 didn’t really do anything for me & I can maybe only remember one or two of them, at most. For me F1 did a much better job with the songs. And yeah, I know it became this whole thing for people to hate F1 because of how stupid popular Let It Go was but, just because something is popular & played to death, doesn’t mean it’s bad.

As for what I can actually see happening in Frozen 3... this is pretty one is pretty obvious. A wedding for Kristoff & Anna. Not really shocking since, a good portion of F2 had Kristoff trying & failing to propse to Anna right up until the end. That being said, I think the wedding will most likely happen at the begining of the movie, giving Kristoff a bit of his own story line where he’s just wed the queen of Arendelle & now has to face a very real future as the soon-to-be-crowned-king-of-Arendelle. Which I can only imagine will be a bit of a nightmare for our “Reindeer King.”

Fathoms Below - MUSE é aquela pessoa que geralmente consegue por algum juízo na cabeça de ATLAS, mesmo que por um curto período de tempo. MUSE, que está sempre de prontidão pra tirar o/a amigo/a de problemas, é como se fosse o anjo no ombro dele.

Kiss the Girl - Sabe aquela relação em que todo mundo sabe que um gosta do outro, menos eles próprios? Os amigos de ATLAS e de PEONY (  @pecny​ ) sempre fazem comentários sobre os dois, mas nenhum deles percebe que é ambos tem interesse mútuo um pelo outro. No entanto, os dois costumam sentir ciúmes demais para que seja somente amizade, mas nenhum deles se dá conta.

Part of Your World - HENRI (  @henleblanc​ ) tem um crush (não) correspondido em ATLAS. Ele pode desconfiar, saber ou, também, não ter a menor ideia.

Poor Unfortunate Souls - Por algum motivo STEFAN (  @stefiehub​ ) viu uma oportunidade ou necessitou dos poderes de ATLAS e decidiu por livre espontânea vontade (ou pressão e necessidade) assinar um contrato com ele ou pensa em assinar. O Mortimer não poderia estar mais feliz com isso e, ainda, é quase um demônio no ombro de MUSE para que o acordo seja feito.

Vanessa’s Trick - De alguma forma, ATLAS acabou vendo uma oprotunidade em usar os poderes dela e também criou algum interesse em NEMAYA ( @nemeunemaya​ ) . Por isso, ele não mede esforços para ter essa nova carta em sua manga, seja fazendo um contrato e atrapalhando os esforços para que ele seja quebrado ou a seduzindo para ter essa pessoa sobre seu controle sem que ela desconfie.

Wild Uncharted Waters - Em meio ao caos causado na corrida dos dragões, Atlas acabou perdendo o colar que fazia ele respirar embaixo d'água e caindo em um dos lagos da academia. Em desespero e coberto com as memórias de quando foi resgatado pela mãe, ele se afogou ou teria, se  NARCISA ( @gravcyard​​  ) não tivesse o resgatado desse incidente. Desde então ATLAS possui um crush que esconde há sete palmos abaixo do oceano mais fundo nela. Mesmo que tente disfarçar, é inevitável que, quando estão no mesmo ambiente, haja alguns olhares com duplo significado e que ele se sinta atraído por ela quase como se tivesse em um feitiço de sereia.

Druken Sailor - Não diriam que são exatamente amigos, mas podem ter certeza que isso não importa quando MUSE e EVITA ( @teevitando​ ) se juntam para beber. Em meio ao álcool, quem sabe, até cheguem um pouco perto disso, mas, sem ele, são quase como dois estranhos.

Cake by the Ocean, DNCE - ATLAS, quando encontra NIKOLAI ( @kaiunomeupapin​ ), se torna dez vezes mais imprudente do que já é - e o contrário também ocorre. Quando estão juntos, ninguém consegue contê-los.

Cold Water, Major Lazer - O contexto que se conheceram é variável, mas o importante é que BELLADONNA ( @bolladonnas​ ) são os melhores amigos de ATLAS, os quais não conseguem viver sem. Conversam sobre absolutamente tudo e são muito íntimos - de uma forma que não se constrangem por praticamente nada.

Fuck It- Fanwalker Time!

Alright y'all- finally nailing down this little fucker's Magic AU story! Gonna put the longer details under a cut, but for now:

Details under the cut- Avery's story in any universe isn't pretty, so proceed wisely. And note- this doesn't follow canon. It's my canon now, and we've stretched the timeline and said "fuck you" to a lot of shit.

Born on the Plane of Urae under the name Miri Tallstag to well-off parents, Pavel and Fauna Tallstag. Fauna, an ex-pat from the heavily religious nation of Elas, was less than pleased with her firstborn daughter being a teifling, and Pavel did most of the work to raise Avery. When Avery was four, Fauna and Pavel had a second child named Auveri, a perfectly normal human boy. Avery and her little brother were glued at the hip- his first word was "Miri", and Avery was every bit the doting older sister.

When Avery was 10, Fauna snapped when Avery disobeyed her and started pawing through the household spellbooks. Fauna tried to kill her daughter, stabbing her with a kitchen knife- only to end up killing her son as he put himself between them, trying to save his beloved older sister. He was six years old. The pain and terror were too much, and Avery sparked on the spot, hurtling through the Blind Eternities and landing among the highest concentration of Sparks that she could find- the Infinite Consortium. The leader, Tezzeret, patched her up and sent her home- but he had something Avery wanted.

Avery, after moving to the city of Fairgold with her father and adopting the name Avery to memorialize her little brother, started planeswalking in earnest, quickly finding her way back to the Consortium and demanding that Tezzeret take her on and teach her to fight and kill. He agreed, seeing a young and impressionable Planeswalker that he could mold to his own designs. Avery started learning fast, keen to take her revenge on her mother in the future, but she ended up more loyal to the Consortium, and closer to her employer, than she anticipated. Pavel killed himself when Avery was 15, and she started spending more time off Urae and dove head-first into assassination work for the Consortium.

Avery remained with the Consortium until she was 18, at which point she and Tezzeret had a falling out over his treatment of her acquaintance, a young man named Jace. The two fled to Urae for a time, and then back to Ravnica where they settled into a routine.

I incorporate SparkBonds into Avery's story, if any of y'all saw that post I made about them, and they're one of a few Planeswalkers at the center of the Post-Mending SparkBond boom. They have, at the time of writing this, three confirmed. Tezzeret, the ultimate "It's complicated but I think I wanna punch him", Jace "best friends and also we flirt???" and one broken bond- Gideon, a comrade in arms and a friend (gotta go maximum angst, right?).

IDK if I'll ever really flesh out all of Avery's story- it's changed so many times, and a lot of it is still in motion. Hell, idk if I want to go with her getting Compleated and rebelling or her dying at Jace's hand before the ONE story is over and her lovely benefactor, God-King Behlel, collecting what he's owed and turning her into his Emissary. I've mostly been having fun tossing the Best Whore in Fairgold around the multiverse, watching them get into messes and seeing how many people they can bang and/or piss off on every plane.

Hey hi hello, I’m Ela, Ela Maxima or Ela Bambust (my real name isn’t a secret). I’m a refugee from twitter, though I was technically on twitter ten years ago. The passwords to those accounts have been lost, like tears in rain.

I’m a writer of queer and trans fiction, often with a very heavy emphasis on affirmation, leaving “queer suffering” narratives for others to tell. I’m here for the trans superheroes, the lesbian witches and nonbinary monsterfuckers. I try to keep the genres in which I write broad, because I like to pretend that it keeps me sharp or something, so I’ve written stuff from children’s picture books and YA novels to explicit erotica and hardcore body horror.

Other than that: I’m a European national, spent some time in the US, I use she/they if you know me and she/her if I don’t, I currently live with two clingy cats, my biggest literary influences are <modem dialup noise>* and I’m a sucker for Food, both in practice and in concept. Oh, and I’ve written 18 novels and novellas, which I’m all gradually getting published to amazon.

Current WIPs

On Verdant Wings: Part two of the commissioned Verdant trilogy and sequel to Through Verdant Mirrors, Wings is the story of an orphaned “boy” become princess become queen. In the five years since she’s ascended the throne, Vera has become nigh obsessed with magic and the idea of finding others, those trapped in the wrong bodies, like her. The fact that there is a nymph living in her head who can do actual magic makes this a lot more manageable. But when she and her lovely husband Clarus go on a political visit to the neighbouring nation of Raasland, things start going spectacularly wrong. This one has a dragon in it.

Penumbra Redshift: Also a sequel (and also about someone with a creature in their head. It’s a running theme), Redshift is the sequel to Penumbra. In the first one, the Symbiote Penumbra (Penny to their friends) bonded with the incredibly depressed Maxine Powers, gradually teaching her that asking for help is allowed. It was an examination of depression and self-worth that just happened to star a transgender superhero. Redshift, then, is a spin-off featuring a new protagonist (Eric McCarthy) and a new Symbiote, Amaranth (Amy, of course). Together they will discover the meaning of antifascist action through the power of friendship and rioting.

Flipping Out: 6 kids all grow up together in Fuckoff Nowhere, Who Cares, all trapped in their own way. When one day they find a coin that lets them turn into anyone they can think of, the possibilities for hijinks and nonsense are endless. When fifteen years later they meet again at a swanky wedding, the six take a long hard look back at the road behind them, and the various adventures and betrayals that led them down that path.

Parasite: What if Penumbra (or Venom, if you like) was unrepentantly evil and cruel. An exploration of body horror and extreme discomfort. This one is not for publication nor is it really for a specific audience. This is the literary equivalent of picking at a mental scar and seeing what’s under there.

impossivel diferenciar mitos e verdades sobres os skassen. boatos remetem muito antes do declínio, com bruxas sendo queimadas em fogueiras e enforcadas nas árvores mais altas. amaldiçoadas, as mulheres da família pareciam trazer azar e má sorte a todos por perto, mas isso não era verdade para os homens, que sempre se destacavam com seus conselhos sábios e ótimos palpites para o futuro. muitos foram os reis agraciados pela sabedoria de um skassen, mas como tudo na vida, os deuses pareciam gostar de jogar com seu pequeno grupo de veneficus alemães. alguns enlouqueciam logo quando estavam tão perto alcançar glória e fama que tanto desejavam e então, até o mais brilhante conselheiro se via obrigado a voltar para uma colonia de veneficus escondidos nas montanhas, temerosos demais para acreditar em uma só palavra do que um humano diga. desconfiados e supersticiosos, esse clã reune feiticeiros que não se encaixam nas normas servis de um veneficu, selvagens e arredios demais para servir um senhor ou uma guerra. 

Foi desse clã que Holt Skassen saiu, um dos mais espertos e intrigantes membros que a Rosis já vira. o príncipe columbiano parecia adorar a ambição, a pompa e as histórias selvagens do feitceiro e se tornaram amigos. bebiam juntos, comiam juntos e juraram governar a colombia juntos. claro que promessas adolescentes quase nunca se tornam realidades, mas holt assumiu a posição como oráculo do rei por muitos anos, e por mais que a ambição de seu amigo jamais parecia ser saciada, a do feiticeiro se contentava com as mulheres, com o vinho e com a música, se tornando uma espécie de celebridade, sempre entretendo a corte com pequenas profecias, um tanto quanto genéricas, como “um mal pode acontecer com você, envolvendo o número quatro” o que assombrava a nobreza por dias até que o lustre de quatro velas cai causando uma grande sujeira, e todos podem voltar a respirar aliviados, apenas esperando a próxima profecia. ocorre que muitas vezes, suas visões podiam não ser sempre bem vistas. quando ele dizia a verdade, ou apenas observações muito fiéis a realidade, como ganhar alguns quilos, perder o cabelo ou a morte de um animal de estimação, seus profecias não eram mais divertidas, eram infames, perturbadoras e sombrias. 

mas nada podiam fazer, enquanto holt ainda fosse útil para as batalhas e planos ambiciosos do rei ele ficaria. a popularidade do, um dia tão adorado veneficu passou a se tornar um peso, homens haviam se cansado de dividir suas mulheres com ele, os senhorios dos bares irritados com a frequente baderna e o escasso pagamento pelos serviços prestados. assim como seus antepassados, holt parecia estar próximo de antigir a sargeta quando, de repente. sumiu.

entre os bastardos do homem, apenas uma foi levada para a alemanha para ser criada com suas tias. briar era filha de uma senhora de grande fortuna e umas das ultimas verdadeiras adoradoras de holt e queria que a filha fosse uma feiticeira tão grandiosa quanto o pai. a menina, no entanto, cresceu longe dos ensinamentos tradicionais sobre magia, já que suas tias corporalkis entendiam mais sobre plantas, curas, poções, o que a ruivinha não tinha o menor talento, ela havia aprendido, no entanto, a sempre jogar sal para trás do ombro esquerdo, sempre plantar alecrim perto da entrada e carregar flor de lavanda para boa sorte. quando as visões começaram a surgir, tentaram as cartas, a bola de cristal então o tarô mas ela não era particularmente notável em nenhuma delas. o sangue ruim da mestiçagem havia corrompido o poder dos skassen, era o que diziam os mais velhos, mas as irmãs de seu pai viam nela grande futuro. conseguiam ver, em seus mapas astrais, quiromancia e folhas de chá que ela seria grande, maior do que qualquer outro skassen, ela teria a chance de limpar o nome de sua família mas nunca seria feliz no amor, pois, se beijasse o seu amor verdadeiro, ele certamente morreria.

pertecente ao coven do oráculo e tendo como pai um vidente famoso, era de se esperar grandes coisas da skassen, no entanto, ela é mediocre na maioria das leituras com tarô, astrologia, quiromancia e previsões em geral, tenta compensar com esforço e dedicação, decorando constelações, padrões na borra de chá e significado nas cartas, porém, sua habilidade mais notável é uma sensível percepção a objetos. principalmente aos que tem significado para seu dono ou que esteve em sua posse a pouco tempo. podem fazer observações quase tão boas quanto a de um cão farejador ou de um observador atento. no entanto, quanto mais sua habilidades vão se aprimorando mais intensa sua conexão vai se estabelecendo e talvez alguns segredos guardados entre muros e paredes sejam por fim descobertos.

𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐕𝐈𝐀…

briar sempre usa luvas para evitar ter visões ao tocar objetos que, desavisadamente, sejam importantes para alguém. a coleção de luvas da garota é notável. desde lã pesadas e tricotadas pelas tias ou delicadas e de renda para a corte.

apesar da curiosidade que tem em relação a figura materna, sabe muito pouco sobre a colombia e o passado de sua família, que ela supõe ser nobre, de todo caso, teme conhecê-la ao mesmo tempo que deseja saber mais sobre o passado.

é muito superticiosa, sempre carregando louro, sais, velas e incensos. é um tanto excentrica, mas não é fanática, apenas preserva rituais antigos e ervas e chás para todas as ocasiões possíveis.
