Mr Queen fic masterlist
Noticing an influx of comments on my Mr. Queen fics now that it’s on Netflix, so here gentle readers is a masterlist. I spent the better part of a year writing these stories, most of which are novel-length!
Are you a cheolbong truther, and wish the show would have committed to the wacky queer love story of our dreams? Or does your heart beat for the silenced Kim Soyong, who got pushed out of her own narrative? I’m here to fulfill all your fix-it needs! ❤
Tumblr media
Mrs. Queen
Summary: She has always been good at hide and seek. A retelling of Mr. Queen from Kim Soyong's point of view.
This was my first MQ retelling where Soyong and Bong-hwan are both awake and bickering inside their mind, wrestling for control. Soyong/Cheoljong endgame; Bong-hwan is mostly around to matchmake and cause trouble like the gremlin he is.
Tumblr media
And I, and Silence
Summary: Jang Bong-hwan can feel his mind disintegrating, and he is looking for a way back to Seoul. Suddenly Kim Soyong is back. And, as it turns out, she is already married.
The last thing Kim Soyong remembers is jumping into the lake. Now she’s back mid-story and forced to fend for herself without any memory of what has happened in the past few months. Lots of angsty pining, gratuitous Emily Dickinson references, and the birth of my most beloved crackship ByeongJin (Jo Hwa-jin/Kim Byeong-in).
Tumblr media
The Raw Ingredients
Summary: After a miserable year in Seoul, Bong-hwan finds a way back to Joseon. When she returns everything is very different from how she left it.
We’ve got magical trans girl Bong-hwan returning to Joseon, only this time in the body of a lowly palace maid. How ever will she get to her king? Well, with a little help of cunning minister Kim Soyong, of course.
Tumblr media
Patchwork
Summary: Sobong returns to her king.
A ficlet with the same basic premise as The Raw Ingredients but much shorter.
Tumblr media
The White Grass
Summary: Kim Soyong discovers the hard way that her clan would do anything to ensure that the next royal heir comes from the Kim bloodline, no matter who they have to hurt to do it. To survive in the palace she makes a deal with the king. AU where Jang Bong-hwan never came to Joseon. This one has some dark and gritty dubcon sex! It’s also got a Kim Soyong who girlbosses, gaslights, and gatekeeps her way to power in a patriarchal government, and accidentally falls in love with her husband along the way.
Tumblr media
Whatever Souls Are Made Of
Summary: Kim Soyong and Jang Bong-hwan are the same soul reincarnated. On the same night, 170 years apart, they both drown. That’s when things get weird.
In this story Sobong is just one (1) person, but with two sets of memories from two points in time. There’s some multiverse theory, library sex, and a journey of self-discovery for our dear genderfluid queen! This is my personal favorite of the bunch.

Isabelle Adjani on Perfume
Her first emotional experience
"I am certainly not the only one to be bewitched by the famous N°5 by Chanel, which must have marked a whole generation of girls. It has such a strength that it has made me aware of scents for life, and it is certainly thanks to it that I can't go a day without wearing perfume. It is also and especially the perfume of my mother... The one who wears it becomes a little bit my mother, that is to say! As a little girl, I was forbidden to touch it, and before I dared to wear it myself, I got drunk on Cristalle and N°19, such pretty young girl perfumes! Now I sometimes wear N°5 when I miss my mother... "
Her memory box
"Like Marilyn's beloved elixir, Guerlain's L'Heure Bleue is another magical fragrance. I was 17 years old and making my theater debut at the Comédie-Française. I liked fine boutiques, so with my first money I went to Guerlain, at 68, avenue des Champs-Elysées, their mythical address. I remember first trying Vol de Nuit and Mitsouko, then Après l'Ondée (of which I kept a bottle) to adopt L'Heure Bleue. I wore it to play a few years later in L'histoire d'Adèle H. by François Truffaut. It followed me, it is a sensor of "moments" and a source of memories. It symbolizes my roles in the theater and is essential for my films in costume. It is a perfume that I rediscover all the time, I fall in love with it each time, without any feeling of use or wear, it is an absolute for me.
Her adrenaline triggers
"Between the ages of 25 and 30, I discovered Passion and Heure Exquise by Annick Goutal. By always wearing them together, without separating them, a crazy alchemy occurs, it is the love equation par excellence. Each time, it's amazing and ecstatic, as if I hadn't been looking for them but they had found me. It's amazing that fragrances like this exist and overwhelm me every time."
Her other self
"Aromatics Elixir by Clinique: I smelled it one day on a friend and it was a shock, something crazy, intimate and irrational. I like it when it's strong, it doesn't scare me. A bit like Tom Ford's Jardin Noir collection, right now it's Café Rose, a singular statement to the Damask rose, captured in its black-clad bottle. I wear them when I want to surprise myself, to have that feeling of an unusual other self. It's as powerful for me as changing my haircut."
Her eternal obsession
"Since I was a teenager, I have been fascinated by Eau Sauvage by Dior, my father's perfume. Although it is impossible for me to wear it, I have several secret weapons that bring me back to him, such as Escale à Portofino, still by Dior, Eaux 1, 2 and 3 by Sisley, and the very successful Jardins du Sud by Fouquet's. Some smells act on me like spells and confuse me without me being able to explain it. Whoever wears Dior Homme, for example, is bound to be irresistible!"
Her troublemakers
"I love layering scents. There was a time when I would stop by Comptoir Sud Pacifique and mix currant and vanilla, cocoa and grapefruit... I think I contributed to their inspiration! For the same reason, I have a thing for Jo Malone who has reinvented the art of combination. I am a fan of Blue Agava & Cacao and Jasmine & Mint. I love that incongruous side of the mix, I love that people are a little confused about how I perfume myself and wonder what I'm wearing."
Her mystical trips
"I had a long period of Angel by Thierry Mugler, an incredible fragrance where sugar was treated in a new way, and another under the seal of Serge Lutens, especially for his Daim Blond and his Rahät Loukoum, a concentrate of sweetness. His creations intoxicated me, they are like mystical ointments that come from afar. I often go to Jovoy, a store where everything makes me dream, and I found Misiones de Fueguia 1833. Beyond the incense scent that I look for everywhere, there is the refined bottle, the wooden box... A pleasure found for more than ten years at Frédéric Malle, I have a soft spot for his Lipstick Rose, a delicious interpretation of the powdery smell of a lipstick.
Her recent conquests
"I wear my perfumes in cycles but I keep them all in very strong cases where nothing breaks, I don't throw anything away. Always on the lookout for a new olfactory coup de foudre, I'm like a little girl in the luxury boutiques. In the duty free shops, I try absolutely everything I don't know on my skin and when I get on the plane, it's all over! I read all the articles on perfumes and I do some scouting. I recognize myself in the world of Terry de Gunzburg and particularly in his Ombre Mercure, but also in Diptyque's Eau Duelle which echoes my preferences. I don't understand women who don't wear perfume, it's impossible for me and it depresses me for them!"

Something Wicked This Way Comes: Chapter 5
“Favorite movie of all time?” Oh, that was diabolical of him to ask, but that’s how we passed our lunchtime, with questions that helped us navigate the tense little bubble we seemed to fall into if we were too quiet.
I contemplated the question with more seriousness than it required - for everyone else.  Kai knew I loved movies, so he knew he was mentally torturing me, but he didn’t look as gung ho about it as he would if I were Jo sitting across from him.
Just as I was weighing the options between “The Monster Squad” and “Howard the Duck” being at least in the top ten, he shifted across from me and I refocused on Kai. “We could always just go to the drive in and catch a new one,” I blinked at him, not because I was against the idea of us doing something more private - although a movie at a drive in wasn’t exactly super private - but because we’re the grand old age of thirteen and neither of us could drive, so unless Eve, Elias, or his lovely parents were going to take us and chaperone the entire thing, I didn’t see - “You can buy tickets and sit on blankets, there’s some cheat they do so we can hear the audio,” mind reading was a cheap trick that he shouldn’t be able to do, and since he adhered to the three foot rule Elias insisted on when Jo tattled about our lunchtime routine, I knew he wasn’t sneaking “sips” from my magic.
“You can’t know what I’m thinking,” I muttered, but his smile was worth the mild annoyance at how well he’d learned to read me. “Do you honestly think that your dad and Elias are going to be excited to let the two of us just go to the movies alone? Together, I mean.” I was stumbling over my words, which only seemed to happen when I was with him.
His smile grew with my stumbling words and he leaned slightly across the table, marginally closer, but not nearly as close as I wanted him - “They will if you’re going with Josette.” Blinking at him, I knew there had to be more - he asked me, he wanted me to go, so why would I tell them I’m going with his sister?  “Jo wants to go to the movie playing this weekend, one of the last for the season, and I’m sure she’s going to ask you and a few of the other girls that hang onto her like the shining star she is.” OK, so he wants me to go with Jo, still missing some detail. “I’ll make my way there, and since there’s so much room on the property, they won’t notice if you go to the bathroom and -” Disappear onto a blanket with him, the shrug he gave me implied.
“And you think no one will notice?” He waited while I made my choice. “I wouldn’t just have to go to the bathroom, I’d have to get sick enough to tell them all I was leaving - and make sure that I convinced them that I didn’t want any of them to give up their fun for me.” His smile seemed brighter as I plotted with him.
Eve folded a soft, yet sturdy blanket while she beamed at me in a way that seemed to scream that she knew precisely who I’d be sharing it with while Elias was trying to get me to take more and more cash -
“It’s the last weekend for the season,” he badgered, folding a wad of bills into my palm and giving me a mock glare when my mouth opened to argue with him. “If you don’t try to experience every single snack that concessions offers, you have to wait until spring.” Every snack? How much did he think I could eat? “Plus, you should share with your friends,” right, with Josette Parker, the beloved daughter of his best friend and leader extraordinaire and my closest friend - even if she did have a tendency to tattle about any moment I dared to spend with her own twin.
Pocketing the cash, I started for the door - after all, it would be easier if I met the other girls along the way, that way I could begin the plan to seem like I might not feel as up for the evening as I’d hoped. Painting misery across my features would be hell of a lot easier if I did it outside of Elias’ watchful presence.  Eve stopped me long enough to hand me the blanket and kiss my temple - I could swear I felt a whisper of air that rushed over me, like a spell, but then she was telling me to have fun and Elias was beside her beaming at how well I was adjusting to my new life with them.
The drive-in wasn’t far, Jo and I had met close to her house, and she could tell I wasn’t feeling myself - at least she seemed worried that I might not feel well, which was strange since I hadn’t really started putting “fake sickness to go home” plan A yet.
“Are you sure -” but then we were surrounded by the other girls from school, and my ears did start to hurt from all the squealing. I must be doing a better job of projecting illness than I thought I’d be able to manage because the others were soon fearful of how bad I looked - gee thanks, guys - and whether or not I should stay.
“Let me see how I feel during the dancing concession intro,” I offered, fearful that one of them would find a payphone and call Elias or Eve to come fetch me. “If I feel worse by then, I’ll head home,” whatever they heard in my voice seemed to convince them, and soon we were seated on Jo’s blanket - larger than mine and a little sturdier - with mine folded on my lap while they gossiped about boys and classes and I waited.  And waited.
The sun had finally begun to set, the screen flickered to life and the girls’ excitement grew as the speakers that they’d pulled from the poles we sat between scratchily came to life.  Restlessness came off of me in waves, and they stopped chatting to check on me again - and this time their eyes were wide and they told me that one of them should probably walk me home.
“No,” I staggered to my feet, my legs had gotten stiff from sitting so long so I didn’t have to fake it, and shook my head at their worried faces.  “It’s still light enough that I can get there on my own -” they all started to fuss, but I gave them what I hoped was a weak smile. “Just because I can’t enjoy the last movie of the season, doesn’t mean I want you to miss it.”  Their mouths opened again, but I was already moving. “I’ll call you tomorrow,” my gaze was on Jo and she nodded, brow furrowed at my retreat, but I could tell it was simply worry and not suspicion that created it. “Have fun and tell me everything I miss -”
Turning as they all promised me they would, I strode away and focused on part two of plan a - making them see me walk completely away and out of sight - and then a glamor that would make me not me, at least to the people who I’d be expecting to spend the evening with - hopefully Kai would see me still.
Craning my neck, I searched for the incline he’d told me about and when I spotted the most likely area started walking toward it only to have the wind leave my lungs when arms wrapped around me from behind - my mouth opened to scream, but then lips were close to my ear, hot breath that rushed out as a voice I knew far better than Elias ever hoped me to told me to calm down.
“It’s me,” and as I relaxed, my mind processed the fact that he might have his arms around me, but not a hint of his skin was touching any of mine - even his mouth was far enough away from my ear that I could only feel the warmth of him, not a hint of skin on skin contact. The realization that even now he was being so careful made my heart throb uncomfortably in my chest.
“I wasn’t sure you’d be able to tell I’m me,” he hadn’t released me so I held myself incredibly still so I could have him wrapped around me for as long as he’d stay that way.  “I mean -”
“I’d know you anywhere,” the throbbing in my heart turned into a full on flip and thud. “You just got here before me,” and then he pulled away and gestured for me to follow him to a small peak just above where he’d found me.  There was only one of the poles with the speaker on it here, and as he tugged the blanket from my arms, I gave myself an internal shake so I could focus on grabbing a side of it and help him spread it out on the ground.  “Are you hungry? Thirsty?”  He wasn’t sitting, and neither was I - suddenly everything felt so private and - “Eli?”
Right, he was asking if I wanted some snacks and - “Elias gave me money to splurge,” pulling the wad of bills from my pocket, I shook my head as he started to give me his standard answer when he asked me to join him for anything that needed cash. “He wanted me to try anything and everything that sounded good at the stand -” shrugging, I thought Kai would understand that there was no way I could eat my way through that much alone. “Besides,” leaning forward a bit, even with the blanket laying between us like a divider, I gave him a smirk. “It kind of serves him right for us to spend it since he’s so hellbent on keeping us apart, right?”
That did the trick, once Kai swore that my glamor was so heavy that he was sure no one would recognize me - I closed my eyes and when I opened them my smile grew. “What?” He raised his eyebrow and stared at how I was studying my magic work.  “What are you staring at?”
Laughing lightly, I waved my arm at him. “If my glamor worked so well on me,” his eyes widened and he glanced down. “I thought it might seem suspect if you were suddenly here, with another girl, getting snacks.”  I could still see HIM, but the haze of my spell was like a thin sheet covering him - and I felt certain that no one would be able to see through it.  “Come on, I can literally taste those nachos already.”

Power Rangers: Once & Always
My husband and I watched this last weekend because we have shared childhood nostalgia for the OG series, which was extremely fun, and now I have thoughts! A random list of thoughts!
Thoughts Like:
Me literally every second Kat was onscreen: screaming, crying, hearts streaming out of my eyes, etc. MY GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are an equal-opportunity Red/Pink Ranger shipper in this house so as clumsy and awkward as I found most of the reminders that he and Kat are married*, I ate them up with a soup ladle.
(*were? idk feels uncomfortably like you could read this equally well as them being co-parenting divorcees on friendly terms, perhaps to appease the rabid OG shippers without pissing off canon purists, but in the absence of Amy Jo, NOT TODAY SATAN).
I was...Not expecting Trini to die on screen, even just by being hit with a blast and dropping out of sight. YIKE.
Although I did appreciate how much that made this movie feel like a fanfic that magically got filmed.
Uncle Zack just rolling up to move in and guardianship Trini’s daughter full time, SURE!!!!!
Was her name always pronounce Tree-nee?? I know I didn’t watch as much of the original lineup compared to Zeo and Turbo, but it’s always been in my head as “Trinny.” It was so jarring, every time. Is my memory that bad or is this like a Modern Day Fix where they got schooled by actual Vietnamese people.
I still require more explanation as to why they have ranger powers at this age. I thought Passing Them On was sort of...a key part of being rangers? I mean I don’t know that much about the mythology because this was strictly a teen drama to me and I fast-forwarded most of the fight scenes and battles but...
Trini’s daughter is
adorable
and I would almost commit to watching a season she was part of. The 2017 reboot film wants what this character’s energy has.
IMMENSELY hilarious to me every time Zack acted like it was unreasonable for a teenager with homework to want to be a ranger, btw.
I will say that her fight against the putties all alone really drove home how young the characters were always supposed to be. Wild visualizing rangers being actual minors.
I was never very attached to Billy and even less attached to Zack (truly the only person who was a greater non-entity to me than the latter was Rocky or perhaps Jason), so kudos to this movie making me care about them. Especially Billy. Oh my god I loved that final forgiveness convo so much.
Husband, howling with laughter at the cringe-worthy single DIVERSITY! moment: “Would you commit vehicular manslaughter for gay rights?? Only true allies need apply.”
I LOVE THE MONSTER DUDES. Especially the snakey guy, my beloved. It was very hard to root for them to be defeated, let alone straight-up murdered. (which, for all Zack kept scolding about, sure looks like revenge to me!! my husband kept trying to explain to me that it was justice and there is a difference, but everyone who claims that is wrong)
Robo Rita is also most excellent.
This movie was way more stabby than I remember the tv show being. did they always have daggers??
I know I said that I mostly skipped the fight scenes/battles, but sometimes I made exceptions for the OG series because the animal zords were actually pretty cool, unlike the later cars. Until they become a giant robot, at least, I kind of love them, so that was fun to see. I also really like the power disks w/ the animals etched on them.
...MEMORY BLAST we used to have a bunch of those from McDonald’s happy meals, I think when the OG movie came out? Now I am weirdly sad they’re all long gone.
I don’t actually remember the episode they used the nostalgic clips from at the end but oh my god that was a perfect choice. Moderately hilarious that after a whole movie of reminding us that Tommy has a kid with Kat, the clip is clearly as much Tommy Makes Heart Eyes At Kimberly as anything else, but again, equal-opportunity shipper here so it’s cool and I appreciate the gift. Also a good reminder I need to go listen to her music again, her voice is so pretty.
In conclusion: basically we got a bonus 3-part episode 30 years later and I think that is very special and my heart is very full. No complaints. :*)

WHERE IS TINA GOLDSTEIN?
first of all, katherine waterston is 100% in the movie. you can check imdb, but apart from that, she was interviewed about this more than once. so, since she is not in any of the two trailers, nor in the cover of the movie magic book, i believe that she will play a minor role this time around. i don’t think bunty is actually tina who drank some polyjuice (i saw this theory on youtube) because victoria yeates told herself bunty is more important now, and we get to see more of her personality. with dumbledore gathering the crew, it’s possible that tina, being bold and headstrong, decided to go on her own on a mission to get queenie back. this would also explain newt’s sad face, maybe they confronted over this (???). when in the first movie, tina was about to be executed, queenie heard her scream even if they were far away. they could have developed a telepathy channel, and for this tina knows she is the only one that can save her sister. anyway, it wouldn’t surprise me if tina had a solo mission, just like in crimes of grindelwald; after all, this is her speciality. imagine her showing up in the last crucial scenes and saving everyone’s ass!! there’s another option we can consider tho, actually the first theory that came to my mind when i noticed she was not in the trailer. i thought that tina may be pregnant. tina and newt grew closer in crimes of grindelwald, some time has passed in between that movie and the secrets of dumbledore, we know they end up together and that they have at least one kid. i did not like the idea of pregnant tina at all, i love her so much as a character, i wanted her to be involved in the plot and see some new amazing moments of her. but thinking about it now, it could be great all the same, if not kind of revolutionary. one of tina’s first priorities is her job, we got to know how much it means to her, how much she is passionate about it. she’s a woman of action, responsible and dedicated. in dark moments like grindelwald’s rise, i clearly see her fighting with her head up. and when her job is taken away from her because she is…’indisposed’. that’s what could be interesting to see: a phase of her being cut off from saving her sister, combat next to his beloved ones, purse her ideals in hard times like this, during which everyone has to pick a side…because of being a woman. maternity is not an easy time for every woman, it can really change you as a person, even if you love your baby immensely already, it’s not about that. having a child and starting a family is a very important step to make, especially when you’re a career girl. moreover, i feel like jo rowling loves to talk about all of these female conditions, if that makes sense. it would be absolutely fantastic to see this kind of introspection, exploring this side of her character. fantastic beasts characters have never been granted, but rich of an extraordinary humanity and complexity. it’s rare to see a situation like this well portrayed in commercial movies. just a single scene in which we can feel tina’s feelings would be astonishing if well written. waterston has recently become a mother herself, and i saw some kind of continuity in her recent films as well, regarding this side of female characters. she would snap the role!! please let it be!! tina goldstein heroine of blockbusters!!

Absolute Favorite Books I’d Recommend to Anyone
This is a list of my top-tier favorite books that I would recommend/talk about endlessly to pretty much anyone (in no particular order). I know people probably don’t care but I just like talking about books I love so here we are.
Beloved - Toni Morrison
~ Based off the real story of Margaret Garner, a slave woman who escaped slavery and when captured killed her child in order to prevent them from ever being enslaved again, Beloved tells the story of a mother named Sethe, born in slavery who eventually escaped and is haunted by the figurative demons of her trauma and the literal (arguably) ghost of her dead daughter, who she herself killed. It is an excellent exploration of the horrors of slavery and of the haunting legacy of the institution for those who were subjected to it.
Lolita - Vladimir Nabokov
~ If you’ve been on Tumblr for a while, you probably know what Lolita is. The story of the predatory Humbert Humbert who lusts after, rapes, and kidnaps the “nymphet” Dolores Haze. An excellent construction of how predators, unreliable narrators in their own right, hide behind fabrications, almost-believable excuses, and pretty words to make their actions seem maybe not so bad. In the words of the book itself, “You can always count on a murderer for a fancy prose style.”
Ulysses - James Joyce
~ Notoriously one of the most difficult books in the English language, Ulysses lifts its structure from Homer’s Odyssey to tell the story of a common man, Leopold Bloom, as he goes about his day. Yes, this book takes place over the course of only one day. We follow Bloom as well as Joyce’s literary counterpart Stephen Daedalus through their thoughts and actions, gathering details of their lives previous throughout. It’s a book that, in my own words, “is life”. It is sad, funny, strange, vulgar, disgusting, beautiful, revelatory, sensual, and nonsensical all at once. Joyce aimed to create a reflection of life through his stream-of-consciousness style which some people might find confusing, but I personally find absolutely beautiful and honest and realistic. The prose is also gorgeous, but that could be applied to everything Joyce wrote.
Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte
~ The classic gothic book that tells the tale of Heathcliff and his ultimately destructive love of Catherine Earnshaw, whose eventual marriage to someone else and the general mistreatment of him by her family drives Heathcliff insane and he spends the rest of his life trying to take revenge by abusing and torturing the next Earnshaw and Linton (the family into which Catherine marries) generations. If I’m being honest, I like this book mostly because of how wild and dark it is, but the writing is also genius and beautiful. I think the book also carries an interesting view of the destructive nature of revenge, overzealous love, and othering.
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn - Betty Smith
~ A coming-of-age story at the turn of the century that tells the story of Francie Nolan, a young bookish girl growing up in a lower class family in New York City. It tells about her father’s struggles with alcoholism as well as her mother’s struggles to deal with that and at the same time raise Francie and her brother. Francie is confronted with a strange, uncertain world as a young girl, but tries to face it with bravery throughout childhood
Little Women - Louisa May Alcott
~ Another coming-of-age story, this time about four young sisters: Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy March. You are probably familiar with this book already; it’s had more movie adaptations then I can possibly remember off the top of my head. It’s the story of four sisters as they try to navigate growing up, love, and loss during the mid to late 1800s.
The Color Purple - Alice Walker
~ A novel that tells the story of Celie, a young black woman who is raped and then married young to a man who will go on to use and abuse her, through her letters to God. Throughout the novel she meets Shug Avery, a woman with whom she eventually falls in love and begins a relationship with. Through this and her eventual freedom from her abusive husband, she is able to gain at last her own sense of self and take back control over her life, a life no longer ruled by the abusive men around her.
The Bluest Eye - Toni Morrison
~ The tragic story of young black girl Pecola Breedlove, who wants nothing more than to have blonde hair and blue eyes just like the women she sees in the movies. Both a deconstruction of the whiteness of beauty standards as well as how these standards can utterly destroy vulnerable young girls, it is also an exploration of the people who allow these sorts of things to happen, including Pecola’s mother and father. The Bluest Eye, I think, showcases one of the aspects of Toni Morrison that I like the most, that I aspire to the most: her ability to enter the minds of all people, even people who you might despise at first. Her characters, especially Cholly in The Bluest Eye, are ones you might not entirely sympathize with, but they will always be ones you understand.
The Bell Jar - Sylvia Plath
~ Based off of the author’s own experiences as a young college student, The Bell Jar tells the story of Esther Greenwood, whose depression over her place as a woman in a patriarchal society as well as her inability to choose a life path for herself leads to a suicide attempt and a subsequent stay in a mental hospital. A very nuanced portrayal of mental illness, especially anxiety and depression, The Bell Jar is an extremely moving and relatable story for me and clearly is as well for others. It is a classic for a reason.
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings - Maya Angelou
~ A memoir of Angelou’s childhood, this book tells the story of her experiences living as a black girl in the south with her grandmother and brother as well as her later years living with her mother. It also tells of how she was raped by her mother’s boyfriend when she was around eight or nine, and how she struggled to live with that and find her voice, both literally and figuratively. A wonderful book about overcoming struggles and the power of words and literature in such times.
Invisible Man - Ralph Ellison
~ Ellison’s novel tells the story of a young black man, never getting a name in the text, and his feelings of invisibility and his struggles to find a place in society to belong. His struggles only lead him further into despair, until he decides to “become invisible” as people seem not to see him as a person anyway. Invisible Man is an exploration of American mid-century racism and the isolation it causes to those subjected to it. Not only that, but it is surprisingly relevant to our times now, especially on the subject of police violence. (Personal anecdote: When I first read this book, when I got to the aforementioned police violence part it was right in the middle of the BLM resurgence last summer and I cried for a good twenty minutes while reading that chapter over how nothing had changed and it still hurts me to think about it. Embarrassingly, my dad walked in on me while I was crying, and I had to quickly explain it away.)
A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man - James Joyce
~ The title basically says it all lol. This book tells of the coming-of-age of Stephen Daedalus (the same one from the later-written Ulysses). His sensitive childhood, his awkward and lustful adolescence, his feelings of Irish nationality and Catholic guilt, and his struggles to fully realize himself, both as an artist and a human being. It is a very hopeful story, and one that I love mostly because I relate so much to Stephen Daedalus as an artist and as a person.
One Hundred Years of Solitude - Gabriel Garcia Marquez
~ A magical-realist intergenerational family drama, Marquez’s book traces the various lives and loves of the Buendia family over the course of (you guessed it!) one hundred years. A beautifully written, at times extremely emotionally moving and chilling masterpiece, Marquez in a way retells the history of Colombia, of its colonization and exploitation.
Anna Karenina - Leo Tolstoy
~ A classic Russian novel of society and love, Tolstoy tells the story of Anna Karenina, married, wealthy woman with a child she adores. However, she falls in love with another man, Count Vronsky, and comes to a tragic end for her love. The parallel story of the novel is that of Konstantin Levin, a wealthy landowner who also struggles to find fulfillment in his life and understand his place in society.
The Sound and the Fury - William Faulkner
~ A novel that features an entire family of unreliable narrators, The Sound and the Fury details the fall of a once-prominent southern Compson family and always-present place of the past. There are four different narratives: Benjy Compson, a mentally disabled man who is unsure of his surroundings and of time and only knows that he misses his older sister Caddy; Quintin Compson, the eldest son and a Harvard man both obsessed with his sister retaining her “purity” and the fact that she failed to do so and had a baby out of wedlock, going as far to claim it is his baby in an attempt to preserve something of the family reputation; Jason Compson, who is the caretaker of Caddy’s daughter and believes her to be going down her mother’s “sinful” path; and Dilsey, the black maid of the Compson’s who unlike the people she cares for is not weighed down by their history. The narratives take place in different time periods and is in a stream-of-consciousness style. It’s a deeply dark and disturbing novel about the haunting nature of the past, a common theme in Faulkner’s work (see Absalom, Absalom! for more of this).
Song of Solomon - Toni Morrison
~ It is the story of Milkman Dead, a young black man growing up in the south and his relationship with his very complicated family. To say anymore would be to spoil the novel, but I will say that it is an excellent book about family, self-fulfillment in a world that tries to deny you that, and, like The Bluest Eye, exhibits Morrison’s excellent character work.
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof - Tennessee Williams
~ A play which takes place on the patriarch of a family’s birthday in the oppressive heat of the midsummer south, Williams’ play explores lies, secrets, and how repression only results in anger, frustration, and sadness. It’s a tragic but brilliant play that I think was very ahead of its time. If you’ve read it (or do read it) then you know what I mean.
Giovanni’s Room - James Baldwin
~ This book tells the story of a young man and his love of another man named Giovanni while he is in Paris. It is a book about love, queer guilt, and has what I would call an ambiguous ending. There is uncertainty at the end, but there does seem to be some kind of acceptance. It is a bit of a coming-out story, but more than that it is a story of personal acceptance and at the same time a sad, tragic love story.
HERmione - H.D.
~ An underrated modernist masterpiece, HERmione is a somewhat fictionalized account of the author, Hilda Doolittle’s, experience as a young aspiring poet dating another poet (in real life Ezra Pound in this book named George Lowndes) who is a threat to her both physically and emotionally. It explores her own mental state, as she considers herself a failure and falls in love with a woman for the first time (Fayne Rabb in the book, Frances Gregg in real life).
To the Lighthouse - Virginia Woolf
~ People think about going to a lighthouse. They do not. A couple years and a war passes then they do. That may seem like a boring plot, and you may be right. However, To the Lighthouse is not much about plot. It is more about the inner lives of its characters, a family and their friends, on two different occasions of their lives: one before WWI and one after WWI. Woolf explores in this novel the trauma that results from such a massive loss of life and security. Not only that, she also explores the nature of art (especially in female artists) in the character of Lily Briscoe and her struggles to complete a painting. It’s a short novel, but it contains so much about life, love, and loss within these few pages.
The Heart is a Lonely Hunter - Carson McCullers
~ A southern gothic novel about isolation and loneliness in a small town. Every character has something to separate them from wider society, and often find solace and companionship in a deaf man, John Singer, who himself experiences a loneliness that they cannot understand. There are various forms of social isolation explored in this novel: by race, disability, age, gender, etc. A wonderful, heart-wrenching book about loneliness and the depths it can potentially drag people to.
The Waste Land - T.S. Eliot
~ A modernist masterpiece of a poem, Eliot describes feeling emptiness and isolation. The brilliance of it can only be shown by an excerpt:
“Your arms full, and your hair wet, I could not Speak, and my eyes failed, I was neither Living nor dead, and I knew nothing, Looking into the heart of light, the silence.”
“The river’s tent is broken: the last fingers of leaf Clutch and sink into the wet bank. The wind Crosses the brown land, unheard. The nymphs are departed. Sweet Thames, run softly, till I end my song. The river bears no empty bottles, sandwich papers, Silk handkerchiefs, cardboard boxes, cigarette ends Or other testimony of summer nights. The nymphs are departed. And their friends, the loitering heirs of city directors; Departed, have left no addresses. By the waters of Leman I sat down and wept . . . Sweet Thames, run softly till I end my song, Sweet Thames, run softly, for I speak not loud or long. But at my back in a cold blast I hear The rattle of the bones, and chuckle spread from ear to ear. “
(My personal favorite line from this poem is, “I will show you fear in a handful of dust.”)
The Trial - Franz Kafka
~ The protagonist of the novel, Josef K., wakes up one morning to find that he has been placed under arrest for reasons that are kept from him. Kafka creates throughout the novel a scathing satire of bureaucracy, as K. tries to find out more about his case, more about his trial, but only becomes more confused as he digs deeper. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the world he lives in, and the more tries to explain it the further the more that proves to be the case. An excellently constructed novel and a great one to read if you would like to be depressed about the state of the world because, though Kafka’s work is a satire, like a lot of his other work, it manages to strike a strangely real note.
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead - Tom Stoppard
~ An absurdist play that is a retelling of Shakespeare’s Hamlet from the perspective of minor characters, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, who in the broad overview of the original play, do not matter. Throughout the play, they question their existence and the purpose of it and through that Stoppard dissects not only the absurdity of life, but how fiction and theater reflect that absurdity inadvertently.
As I Lay Dying - William Faulkner
~ The novel details the journey the Bundren family makes after the death of the family matriarch, Addie, to bury her. Each chapter offers a different narrative from the family members and those who surround them, revealing some ulterior motives to them “going to town” to bury Addie. The patriarch Anse desires a pair of false teeth, and the daughter Dewey Dell is pregnant and needs an abortion, as there is no way for her or her family to support it. It’s about the powerlessness of people in the impoverished south. The Bundrens are constantly subject to forces beyond their control, struggles which would be easily solved if they had the money to spare for it. There is more to the book, but that is my favorite reading of it, that of class. Faulkner’s ability to create distinct voices for every one of his characters shines through here.
And, last but not least:
The Collected Poems - Sylvia Plath
~ All the poems Plath wrote during her tragically short lifetime. The best way to demonstrate or summarize the book’s brilliance is just to show you. This is her poem “Edge”, which appears in the book:
“The woman is perfected.   Her dead Body wears the smile of accomplishment,   The illusion of a Greek necessity Flows in the scrolls of her toga,   Her bare Feet seem to be saying: We have come so far, it is over. Each dead child coiled, a white serpent,   One at each little Pitcher of milk, now empty.   She has folded Them back into her body as petals   Of a rose close when the garden Stiffens and odors bleed From the sweet, deep throats of the night flower. The moon has nothing to be sad about,   Staring from her hood of bone. She is used to this sort of thing. Her blacks crackle and drag.”
HOPE YOU ENJOYED! HAPPY READING TO ALL!

Julie’s incredibly aesthetic incredibly autumny list of movies that she maybe recommends (part 2)
Oh sweet joy! It turns out that there are many more great, fantastic, cosy movies (and tv-series!) just absolutely perfect for autumn. By popular demand, I return with even MORE autumny recommendations, and this time, there might even be spell-checking. (Looking at you, “Silence of the Lamps”) (I won’t edit that, because that’s just funny.)
Thank you for reading the previous one, and I hope you’ll enjoy this one too! We have some GREAT ones coming up. I hope! Maybe! But what I believe will really perfect this second list, is the fact, that autumn is close to being at its peak right now, with it being October! Woohoo!
Tumblr media
Pumpkins, Jack’o’lanterns, spooky movies, Halloween, tricks and treats, fog, rain, candles lit in the dark, delicious tea, and scarves, because the chill is back in the air! Amazing! The aesthetics are to die for!
Tumblr media
I’m on a small break from university, and have actually been having some allowed free time, to do autumny stuff. By this I mean I can do autumny stuff with my family and friends, and not feel guilty, because this time I’m not procrastinating. Well, I’m a little behind on some books, but it’s not that bad. You’re allowed free time on breaks! They’re supposed to be mostly free time, anyone knows that. I refuse to be a good student on breaks!
This free time means that I have actually had time to watch some of these movies and tv-shows myself, and so I can feel a little better about recommending most of them, since I’ve actually seen them. Hehe. Still. I do have other, boring stuff to do, like reading for uni, emptying the dishwasher, cooking, vacuuming, etc., so there will be some of these I’m including, I have not watched, and those will be, again, backed by the power of optimism. Yay! Anyway! You’ve read enough not-halloween recommendationing, and is getting bored - Let’s get to it! (Also, these are still in random order, and I will put warnings at the end, again <3)

Coraline
Tumblr media
I remember watching Coraline when it came out in theaters, years ago. I also remember that we had a little closet-thing in the wall, small and closed-up, but still very similar to the one she goes into, in the movie. Needless to say, this was not a favorite for little Julie, who was absolutely scared shit-less by this movie. I remember button-eyes, decaying puppets, and a very scary mom. Now, I have not watched the full movie since, but from bits and pieces through the years, I can wholeheartedly recommend this one. It’s stop-motion, the details are incredible, and wow, this movie is great. If you, like me, are no longer 9 years old, watch it! It’s wonderful, and surprisingly, very feel-good in the family aspect. A great movie!
Tumblr media
Official synopsis:
An adventurous 11-year-old girl finds another world that is a strangely idealized version of her frustrating home, but it has sinister secrets.
//Warning: do not watch this, if you are around nine years old. It will absolutely traumatize you about small closets in old houses. If you are not nine years old, I think you’re good! Just the right amount of spookyness, I believe!
Sense and Sensibility
Tumblr media
I watched this with a good friend in february, I think. So I’m not sure why I think this has to go on an autumny list, but I stand by it! Maybe it’s the beige and brown, beautiful clothing, the many shots of nature, and the relationships between these characters, that fits very well with the cold and chilling air, we find ourselves in, here in lovely October. I don’t know. Food for thought. But this is a great movie, and I really think you should try watching it under a blanket, with tea and a good friend. We didn’t know the story before we saw it, and it had us guessing! And there is a part my other friend Sif told me, always makes her dad cry, and I think that should be taken as a compliment to this movie! It’s great! Love, sisters, crisis and period drama (and great clothes), this movie has it all! (also - Emma Thompson!)
Tumblr media
Official synopsis:
Rich Mr. Dashwood dies, leaving his second wife and her three daughters poor by the rules of inheritance. The two eldest daughters are the title opposites.
//Warning: It might make you cry. But I promise, it will be a good experience, in the end. It’s not scary, though.
Over the Garden Wall (animated series)
Tumblr media
Well, this one, I’ve been dreading to add to my list. Now, you must not misunderstand, it’s not because I don’t like it. It’s because this series is so great, so weird, so beautifully drawn and made, that I’m afraid I could write a whole blog post dedicated only to Otgw, and still not feel that I have done it justice. It's just so good. It’s like the someone just decided one day, to make a series, that absolutely, perfectly encompasses autumn and halloween, and then did just that. The storyline is good, the art is good, the soundtrack is good. God, the soundtrack. I’ve also made sure to listen to this show’s soundtrack, since we left summer behind, and it’s just so good. There’s a reason tumblr went wild, when this show was first released. But since this is an AUTUMNY list, let me focus on those aspects. Big dark woods, scary noises in the dark, red and golden leaves, fantastical beings - this show has it all, and trust me, it WILL get you in the mood for autumn. I almost started puking leaves and pumpkins when I watched this with my friends, that’s how pumped it got me. This show has a special place in my heart, and if you promise not to tell all the other movies and shows on the list, I’ll admit something: this might be a favorite of mine. Maybe THE autumny favorite.
Tumblr media
Official synopsis:
Two brothers find themselves lost in a mysterious land and try to find their way home.
Warning: May be a little spooky, but I have it on good authority from a friend that is a true scaredy-cat, with nerves of whipped cream, that’s it’s fine. She  could handle it, watches it every year, and she’s fine. Good levels of scary.
Corpse Bride
Tumblr media
Believe it or not, that same scaredy-cat of a friend, I just mentioned, actually instructed a musical, based on this story. Is she a horror-fan or not? I have no idea, but her show was so well-done, that it actually made me like this movie a bit better. I have seen it before, but she convinced me, by telling me the original story behind this movie, that it’s pretty great. And by association, this movie became pretty great, too. It’s been some years since I saw this, but it’s a pretty good halloween movie, I think. Dead people tormenting the living. Classic autumn stuff, I would say. And it’s pretty well-made, I think, stop-motion again! I like the aesthetic of a corpse bride, though you have to admit the actual thing is pretty sad. The premise is haunting and scary, but it’s more morose, melancholic and depressing, I think. Poor Emily. But a good movie! Sorry, maybe that wasn’t a very enticing description, but I promise, it will do you more good than bad, to watch it. And then go google the original story, the movie is based on!
Tumblr media
Official synopsis:
When a shy groom practices his wedding vows in the inadvertent presence of a deceased young woman, she rises from the grave assuming he has married her.
//Oops, nearly forgot a warning! Warning: some people are dead, and therefore rotting a bit. If you’re squeamish, don’t watch. If you love sad love stories, definitely watch!
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
Tumblr media
Yeah, I’m not sure why this has to go on my Autumny List either, sorry. It just has to. I know it takes place over an entire year, but in my head, it jut fits very well with the whole magic, supernatural, foggy halloween times we find ourselves in. I mean, look at the cover! Maybe it’s the iconic scene, right before the troll is discovered in the girls’ bathroom (sorry, spoiler), with the floating jack’o’lanterns, and tables almost crashing undet the weight of candy and cakes, that convinced my brain, that this is a halloween movie. I don’t know. Just trust me on this, and watch the first Harry Potter movie. It’s pretty good.
Tumblr media
Official synopsis:
An orphaned boy enrolls in a school of wizardry, where he learns the truth about himself, his family and the terrible evil that haunts the magical world.
//Warning: Nah, you’re good ;-)
Little Women (Important: 2019 edition)
Tumblr media
Alright girls, we’re hopping genres again! This is another period-drama (sort of), about sisters, and wow, I cried to this. I bawled, I sobbed, I choked on snot, and was a little inconsolable, when I watched it with friends, at the cinema. One of the best experiences this year, and one of the greatest movies I have watched in a long time. I love everything about this movie: the family-bonds, the clothing, the many nature-shots, the developments of characters, (almost) all the characters, and just, wow. No good way to end that sentence, because I want to just keep describing all the good parts of this movie, because it's everything. It’s amazing, and yes, i’m exaggerating, but I can’t help it. I forgot to eat my popcorn or drink my water, when we watched this, that’s how mesmerized I was by this movie. I love Jo, I think I can empathize a lot with her, and if I could talk to her, if she was real, I would thank her for telling her story. This movie is great, you should watch it, because it makes you feel so warm inside.
Tumblr media
Official synopsis:
Jo March reflects back and forth on her life, telling the beloved story of the March sisters - four young women, each determined to live life on her own terms.
//Warning: Might make you break down crying. But in a good way. Very cathartic, actually.
Alien
Tumblr media
I watched this for the first time last year, when I decided I was going to watch the classic older horror movies, and not freak the fuck out. I mostly succeed. And this movie was a joy to watch. That’s maybe weird to say about an alien horror movie, but wow I just love Sigourney Weaver, and the aesthetics of this movie. The story is thrilling, and I really did not like most of the characters, I thought they were hysteric and annoying, but I still rooted for them. It’s a different kind of horror movie, that’s for sure! But when I watched it, I totally understood why it has become such a classic.
Tumblr media
Official synopsis:
After a space merchant vessel receives an unknown transmission as a distress call, one of the crew is attacked by a mysterious life form and they soon realize that its life cycle has merely begun.
//Warning: Uh, yeah, Sif, this is not one for you. It’s gross and scary. Malin, I think you’ll like this one! Go ahead! Maybe we should see it together?
Edward Scissorhands
Tumblr media
Haven’t seen this one! I want to, though. I think I’ve seen one scene, where this man accidentally pokes a water-bed, and younger me felt that was a very tragic thing, on more levels. Johnny Depp yet again, so it has to be good, right? I know this poor guy, Edward, has it rough, and was given some really not that practical hands. Man, he looks sad, huh? So maybe more sad than scary, yet again. Dont know! But I really do want to watch it. Winona Ryder is in this, too, so really, it’s a no-brainer!
Tumblr media
Official synopsis:
An artificial man, who was incompletely constructed and has scissors for hands, leads a solitary life. Then one day, a suburban lady meets him and introduces him to her world.
//Warning: I don’t know? Maybe not that spooky? I think it’s more sad, to be honest.
Pride + Prejudice + Zombies
Tumblr media
I mean, why the hell not - right? I love Jane Austen. I love Pride and Prejudice. And I really like halloween, so OF COURSE, I’m including this one. I’ve seen it, too. My friend Malin and I watched it a couple of years ago, and yeah, it’s good. It’s not high cinema, no, but I don’t need that. It was a fun, weird twist, and sometimes, that’s all you need. There is a very interesting scene with a corset, that was NOT in the book, and I think it really added something to this story. And Lily James. Whew. Great movie. Great for autumn. I will be watching this one again.
Tumblr media
Official synopsis:
Five sisters in 19th century England must cope with the pressures to marry while protecting themselves from a growing population of zombies.
//Warning: I can’t really remember, but I think there’s some pretty gross scenes with zombies. Rotting flesh is NOT pretty. But just close your eyes for that, and  you’ll be good!
The Haunting of Hill House
Tumblr media
I first watched this series when i came out some time ago. I never finished it, I don’t think my heart was in it, but by no fault of the show. Now, that the same creator has made another show, which my mom and I are hooked by, and almost through, I think I’ll be returning to this one - it deserves another chance! A great old house, ghosts, family secrets and INCREDIBLE aesthetics, mean there must be something here! Also, I think it’s based on a novel by Shirley Jackson, and it’s supposed to a classic horror novel, and Stephen King tweeted that he liked it, so yeah, it’s promising! The series I’m watching with my mom is spooky, but tumblr says the Haunting of Hill House is supposed to be much more spooky, terrifying, even, and I really want to find out if that’s true!
Tumblr media
Official synopsis:
Flashing between past and present, a fractured family confronts haunting memories of their old home and the terrifying events that drove them from it.
//Warning: Very Scary! Faint of heart - Beware! Just enjoy this beautiful gif of Nell dancing by herself, and move on <3
Psycho
Tumblr media
Another old classic! Woo! Have not watched, but really, I feel like that’s almost a crime by now. I HAVE to watch it. Soon, I’m planning to. Sadly, It’s old, and I grew up with the internet, so I’ve been spoiled oh so dreadfully, and knows all the bloody details and plottwists of this oldie but goldie. But I still want to watch it! It must be a classic for a reason - right? Also, I’ve never seen the full version of the famous shower scene, and that’s just embarrassing. Shame on me.
Tumblr media
Official synopsis:
A Phoenix secretary embezzles $40,000 from her employer's client, goes on the run, and checks into a remote motel run by a young man under the domination of his mother.
//Warning: It’s a horror classic! It’s gotta be scary. Then again, it DID come out in 1960. Be careful about this one! Sorry, I have no idea, have never watched it.
Hannibal (the TV series)
Tumblr media
It’s gross, it’s scary, it’s aesthetic, there is a danish elegant man eating people in snowy Baltimore, and you really shouldn’t pay him to be your psychiatrist. Hannibal! I first watched this as a young, edgy teenager, and all the blood and gore didn't get to me at all - I just enjoyed the cat-and-mouse game between Will Graham, our main character, very mentally unstable, and a dog-lover, and Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a renowned psychiatrist, elegant, high-society - and also, he talks like a mixture of the bible and an old greek sonet. What I'm trying to get at is that this show is weird. Good weird. But also, now no longer an edgy teenager myself, it’s really gross. A man’s leg is cut off and served to himself. That’s gross. I didn’t like that, and I definitely covered my eyes. Other than that, it’s a very vivid show, with great focus on presentation and symbolism. I would love for someone to analyse each episode, because there's so much attention to detail. It’s honestly impressive. And after having watched many, many shows about crime and murders, I must say, this show has THE most buckwild, creative, never seen before ways of killing people. How the hell do you come up with a murderer using people’s different skin colors to make a mural? I don’t know. It’s disgusting, but man is it different. I’m halfway through season two, and there is a lot to unpack! Also, have to mention, very homoerotic - that’s a plus. Don’t think I could’ve stomached all the blood, otherwise. I hate blood, and wow is there blood in this show.
Tumblr media
Official synopsis:
Explores the early relationship between renowned psychiatrist, Hannibal Lecter, and his patient, a young FBI criminal profiler, who is haunted by his ability to empathize with serial killers.
//Warning: Yeah. You read how many times I wrote ‘gross’. Just trust me on this one, it’s gross. It’s good, but maybe don’t watch it. You don’t need to introduce your brain to this.
The Haunting of Bly Manor
Tumblr media
Ooh boy. Ooooh boy. This series is very good. VERY good. I’m watching it with my mom right now, I think we’re at episode 7, and wow are we hooked. It’s spooky, it’s haunting, it’s thrilling, it’s mysterious, and wow is it scary. We both agreed to go together, the first night we watched this, and our dog had to be taken out on his night-walk. She didn’t want to go alone, and i didn’t want to stay back at the house, alone. So we went together, and I was so freaked out that I nearly peed my pants, when some kids screamed in our neighborhood. It’s so very much what I want a ghost-story to be, but it’s also a lot more, and much greater for it. I love all the characters, they’re all so well-rounded, and most of them are good. The big manor is spooky, and the woods surrounding it are foggy and dark, and yes, this is really a great series for autumn and halloween. It’s the second series made by Mike Flanagan. There are some similarities between the two shows, and surprisingly, some of the same actors! I think that’s very interesting, and it also made me very confused, as I watched the first episodes of the Haunting of Bly Manor, and could not, for the life of me, figure out where the hell I had seen these people before. It made it even more eerie in a way, and I appreciate that. I love this show, and I think I’ll be very sad when we’re through with it. I guess the natural thing to do, will be to follow up with Flanagan’s previous horror series, The Haunting of Hill House! Also, there’s lesbians in this one. Very nice. I appreciate that. Also, surprisingly - I love the children! They’re so cool and brave, and it would be very nice if especially Flora could go with me, the next time I’m going to a haunted house. Such a badass.
Tumblr media
Official synopsis:
After an au pair’s tragic death, Henry hires a young American nanny to care for his orphaned niece and nephew who reside at Bly Manor with the chef Owen, groundskeeper Jamie and housekeeper, Mrs. Grose.
Warning: It’s spooky. It’s the perfect halloween series, so of course it’s very spooky! This gif I chose is spooky, and I promise the show itself is worse. But if you can handle dead people creepily staring in the background, and maybe has someone to watch it with, I think you’ll be fine!
Tumblr media
Alright! We made it! Another spooky, aesthetic, autumny list, for us to enjoy this crispy season! Woohoo! Also, I’m sorry if there’s any spelling mistakes or whatelse, I hope you enjoyed reading anyway! Thank you! Now go drink some tea and relax, you’ve earned it. I recently tried chili-tea, and damn, that’s another recommendation from me! It was amazing!
Tumblr media
Hope you have a great Halloween, it’s close now. Watch out for the cold weather, remember to bundle up, and don’t let the impending darkness get you down. Light some candles! And also, watch some of these spooky tv-series and movies with your family and friends! And have a great fall! <3
Love, Julie

And They Were Oar-Mates
The Second Part of My Fic About The Oars by omni-scient-pan-da
For @burntuakrisp @wh33z @reaping-mae @jo-the-nerd @emo-bi-mess @taurianskies7 @the-dumbass-multishipper @pictures-that-are-kinda-cool and that one anon that left an ask that made me actually finish writing this thing (Edit: Find All Parts HERE)
It wasn’t often that Rowan got upset. For the most part, he was an angel, everyone he met loved him. Even when dealing with the nastiest of people, he met them with a smile and a bounce of his step, never letting anyone or anything get to him.
But of course, most people he interacted with had never hurt Killian.
After a raid on their villiage, Killian had made a deal with an evil warlock in order to save both his and Rowan’s life. The warlock helped the two of them escape and live to see another day, and in return, one day the warlock would call on Killian to be his faithful servant for the rest of time.
Over a decade passsed, and the two all but forgot about the deal Killian had made with the warlock. Until one day, the warlock came calling, and Killian disappeared. And now, Rowan was out to find the warlock and get his beloved husband back.
Rowan knew the task wouldn't be easy. First of all, he had no clue where Killian had gone, or where to find him, or how he was going to get him back from the warlock, or even if Killian wanted to be found in the first place.
Rowan shook his head. No, that was just the spell that made him want to leave... Killian would never just abandon me like that, not if he could help it... I just have to find a way to break the spell and then everything can go back to normal Rowan thought to himself.
He'd packed up as much supplies as he could carry, ready to journey for however long it took in order to find his husband.
Sorcery or not, nothing was going to stand in his way. Either he'd return home with Killian or he wouldn't come back home at all.
Rowan teared up as he looked around their home. It didn't really even feel like a home without Killian there with him. After all they'd been through together, Rowan refused to let some evil warlock stand in the way of his marriage.
With a shaky breath in, and one last look around the quiet empty house that had fallen silent since Killian's sudden disappearance, Rowan stepped out of the house, shutting the door behind him as he set out to find his lost husband.
First things first, he had to figure out where the warlock was hiding.
This shouldn't be too hard Rowan thought to himself. How many green flamed evil warlocks could there possibly be?
Apparently the answer was a lot.
Rowan started off by asking around town, trying to figure out if people had heard of the warlock that had taken his husband before. He couldn't remember much about the man, other than the fact that he had given his younger self a case of the heebie jeebies and had green fire-like magic.
One would've thought that with witches and wizards and warlocks having the ability to do literal magic, they would've picked a wider range of colors for their magic to appear in. But not only was green the most popular color, it also was the only lead Rowan had in regards to finding his husband. The warlock hadn’t exactly left a name after saving them from the raid on their village and leaving putting a curse on his husband.
A pang of remorse shot through Rowan’s heart. He should’ve done something more to save him. He should’ve worked harder, done something to get Ian to stay, held onto him and never let go, found some way to undo the curse, something. Anything would’ve been better than letting him disappear.
But Rowan couldn’t focus on that now. Right now all he could do was focus on moving forward. The past was in the past and no matter how much it hurt, there was nothing he could do to undo it. The most important thing was that he tried to fix his mistakes from the past and pray that Killian would forgive him when he finally found him again.
After spending nearly an entire day walking around asking about warlocks with green magic, Rowan set out to the next town to try and find out if anyone there knew the answer. It was longer than he thought it would’ve been, he hadn’t realized how little he and Killian had actually travelled after getting married. They had liked the idea of settling down, maybe adopting a little girl in a year or so if they could...
Rowan sighed softly to himself. “I’ll get you back Ian... I don’t care how long it takes me, I’ll find you again.”
As the sun began to set, Rowan walked to the nearest inn to find a place to stay for the night. No matter how much he wanted to keep searching, he would be no good to Killian if he froze to death setting out on the cold roads at night. And he’d be even less help if he tried to push forward sleep deprived and hungry.
After booking a room and setting down his belongings he headed down to the tavern at the base floor of the inn. He didn’t want anything to drink, neither him or Killian cared for it, but right now, Rowan just needed to be around people. The thought of being alone with his thoughts at the moment... It was just too much for him to handle.
He sat in one of the booths in the back, just watching the people go by and twisting the wedding ring on his finger. Somehow he had to find someone that knew the warlock. And then he’d be able to get his husband back.
~
Meanwhile, across the land, the matching ring was being twisted around another’s finger.
“It can’t stay on forever boy,” The warlock scowled as he glared at his mortal bodyguard. “The metal will interfere with the magic.”
“I still don’t see why it’s necessary for me to learn magic in the first place,” Killian shot back, continuing to twist the ring around his finger. “Wouldn’t that just make it easier for me to escape from here?”
The warlock laughed. “Like I would teach you anything useful enough to help you escape.”
Killian glared at the ground, twisting the ring around his finger a little faster, as if to remind himself that it was still actually there.
“Besides, you entered a magical contract when you shook my hand all those years ago child. And no matter how powerful you may get, there’s no way to break a magical contract. You swore to be my faithful bodyguard for the rest of your mortal life in exchange for helping you and your little boyfriend-”
“Husband,” Killian intergected, though the warlock just continued on like he hadn’t said anything at all.
“-out of that burning village.”
“That you were attacking.”
“I never said magical contracts were always fair, or that the circumstances under which they were formed was always perfect, just that there’s no way to break them,” The warlock smirked, and it took nearly all of Killian’s willpower not to step forward and punch him square across the jaw.
Not that it would actually do any damage to the warlock himself of course. There were safe guards against that. Any physical harm Killian tried to enact on the warlock would end up rebounding back on him, whether he tried to physically attack him or poison his food. Killian had had to learn that one the hard way.
“What does any of this have to do with me needing to learn magic?” Killian asked.
“You can’t be my bodyguard and not know how to protect me against magical attacks as well as physical ones. Otherwise you’d just be a little human flesh shield and you’d be dead after a few hits, and that’s really not fun for anyone involved.”
Killian glanced down at the ring on his finger once again. He had no idea where he was, or where Rowan was, if there was any hope of seeing him again, or even if Rowan would want to see him after all this. It was possible that Rowan would want nothing to do with him after all was said and done. After all, he was the one that had left him. Killian couldn’t blame him if Rowan had wanted to move on. To find a less cursed husband. He had said from the beginning that accepting the warlock’s deal was a bad idea and yet he had taken him up on it anyways.
The warlock scowled, impatient. “Look boy, either you can take the ring off now, or I can take it off for you, and since you can still learn counterspells with nine fingers, I’d suggest you take it off of your own violition that way you can keep all your fingers and that stupid metal band.”
Killian hesitated for a moment before slipping the ring off his finger and slipping it into his pocket. He felt as if he was betraying Rowan somehow, dishonoring his husband by taking off his wedding ring, especially under the circumstances. But he didn’t have much of a choice. It was either take the ring off or let the warlock take it from him forever, and at least this way he’d still be able to hang onto it.
“Alright fine then, teach me your countercurses or whatever, I’ll bite,” Killian said, his voice unwavering despite the way he felt inside.
The warlock smiled. “That wasn’t so hard now was it?” his hands lit up, green glowing orbs floating in each one. “Now it’s time for the real work to begin.”
Author's Note: Haha, okay, so funny story, I was writing this because of this one anon and as I got to this point I realized it was a pretty good stopping point and since people are actually still interested in this I figured I'd finish the story and then lo and behold I realized that I should probably break the story up a little more, so there WILL BE a part three which I will link HERE when I find it and potentially a part four depending on how part three goes. I promise it will eventually have a happy ending and I'll tag the same people I did for this part in part 3 as well as anyone that reblogs or comments on either part one or part 2 (unless you don't want me to, then I totally get it, just lmk I won't be offended) Anyways, thanks for reading this far and hopefully part 3 will come out soon!

Multiple choice challenge for you while you recover from your annoying cold: Jo Wilson or Izzie Stevens? Joey Potter or Rory Gilmore? Piper Halliwell or Phoebe Halliwell? Luke Danes or Jess Mariano? Lorelai Gilmore or Caroline Forbes? And why?!?! I know these are tough, so good luck :)
Ahhhh! These are really hard!
Also, I feel like a lot of these answers would be or could be different depending on my mood?? Why I say that is because sometimes I lean heavier into the morally gray or flawed characters, or those I’m relating to more or less at the moment, and that usually has to do with my headspace at a particular time. You know, like if I’m paralleling some of their issues, working through stuff, grappling with similar conflicts in my own life, kind of thing.
Anyway, here goes!
Jo Wilson or Izzie Stevens?
Honestly, I think this choice has to do more with the fact that I prefer the earlier seasons of Grey’s to the latter ones. Probably a cop out but whatever haha. Everything was spunky and innovative then. Plus, there were better storylines and character arcs. Izzie gets a lot of hate in the fandom at large. Makes me want to fight for her a little. Even so, I thought she was an interesting character overall. I liked how her empathy and compassion had a tendency to muddy the waters for her as a surgeon. I’ve always wondered what specialty she’d wind up pursuing, what successes she’d accrue, the mark she’d make in her field as well as in her patients’ lives.
Joey Potter or Rory Gilmore?
Oh, my beloved introverted nerds! This one was tough because naturally I adore them both but I’m going with Rory today because I relate to her sense of awe and wonder where books are concerned. She’s so alive, stimulated really, in all things academia. She and I are also introverted in much the same way. Our friend circle is not large, but it’s constant, it’s trusted. We prefer to make deep, lasting bonds with people rather than superficial ones. We both are notorious list-makers, too, which, when there is a big decision to be made, we rush to them to flush out pros and cons. There’s lots of deliberation amongst ourselves and among those we trust. We also have similar BFF energy with our moms. (I tell mine all the time she’s “the Lorelai to my Rory.”)
Piper Halliwell or Phoebe Halliwell?
I’ve never been able to choose a favorite between these two. I always oscillate. One day, it’s Piper; the next it’s Phoebe. I’m selecting Phoebe today because of her passion and zest for life. I love how she jumps into things with her whole heart, how empathy guides her in magic, in relationships, in life. She’s always so ready and willing to try new things, too. It’s inspiring. I want to be more like that. Be less afraid to put myself out there and take more chances.
Luke Danes or Jess Mariano?
Not to be dramatic but this choice cut my soul into a Horcrux! I have so much love for these two emotionally repressed men! They actually have quite a few similarities between them. (Which makes sense if you think about it since they’re uncle and nephew. Genetics, man! Never know what’s going to pop up or where. Sheesh!) That said, there’s something so tragic to me about Jess and his upbringing with Liz and how he views love as something he’s almost not worthy enough to receive. That’s a terrible thing to think! To feel about yourself! I mean, he wasn’t getting the love he needed from his mother or from Jimmy. They ignored him, or worse, abandoned him. It’s not until he goes to Stars Hollow to live with Luke does he slowly come to know, to accept, that there are people in this world he CAN count on. People who will have his back no matter how many times he screws up. People who would always be there for him. Idk, I just really love the arc of that. It’s moving.
Lorelai Gilmore or Caroline Forbes?
Gilmore Girls is my favorite show and Lorelai is one of my favorite female characters of all time so I feel a little guilty about this one, but Caroline and I are cut from so much of the same cloth that it feels remiss not to pick her. Sometimes I think of her as being my fictional shadow self. She’s Type A organized and compulsive, as am I because there are so many things about my health and body I cannot control, so why not control everything else that I can? She’s focused, determined, ambitious, compassionate, and always sees the good in people, which is something I try to do myself. We share the “if you want something done right, do it yourself” attitude as well. She’s also next level insecure to the point that she thinks “I will never be the one.” That sentiment hits so close to home I could cry. 😂

Hi, lovely friend! If you had to choose just five all-time favorite books to take with you to a desert island, what would they be? (You already know Pride & Prejudice would be one of mine!)
To quote the beloved Mr. Knightley, hello there “my darling, wonderful friend!” :) :)
But oh gosh, to pick only five favorite books to take with me to a deserted island is rough! It’s like asking me to choose between fictional children. Are we talking mere standalones? Or can a whole series or collection count as one choice, too?
You know what—to cover my book-loving behind, I’m just going to do a list of both.
Standalones:
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (I mean, obviously. No deserted island of mine would be complete without it!)
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott (Because I am convinced Jo March is my tomboyish and awkward, writes novels in the attic, spirit animal)
The Guernsey Literary and Potatoe Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer (It’s literally the best epistolary novel I’ve ever read. Also - Dawsey and Juliet *swoons*)
The Hating Game by Sally Thorne (Let’s face it, it’s basically a modern day P&P AU with an office romance twist. Her nickname is Shortcake; he coordinates shirt colors with his mood and days of the week. What’s not to love?)
Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier (Because I need at least one exquisite gothic tale in my life or I’ll die)
**I also might try to sneak in Becoming by Michelle Obama because the former First Lady inspires!
Series/Collections:
Anne of Green Gables series by L.M. Montgomery (I am an Anne and Gilbert stan for life. There’s no denying! Not only that, but it houses one of my favorite literary quotes of all time)
All of Jane Austen’s novels (Predictable? Totally)
Pablo Neruda’s entire poetry collection (That man has a way with words. I weep! Bonus points if I get one that has his poems in the original Spanish as well as in the translated English)
The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling (My love for Hogwarts, the Golden Trio, and the rest of this magically crafted world of witchcraft and wizardry knows no bounds!)
The Folk of the Air trilogy by Holly Black (Never thought I’d be the girl who was nuts about faeries, but here we are. Jude and Cardan bring me to my knees.)
**I’d try to sneak in the The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins because I’m all about my Girl On Fire and my Boy With The Bread
You probably got more than you bargained for when you sent this to me, but thanks so much for the ask, lovely! ❤️
(Also re: I’m curious to hear your choices as well!)

10 Hottest Looks of Khushi Kumari Gupta [1-6]
- Kamlesh Khabri
Brothers and sisters (of others), welcome to the first story covered in the news segment Kabhi Kamlesh, Kabhi Khabri. I hope you haven’t forgotten me - here’s my first post.
Khushi, undoubtedly, is one of the most beautiful women in Indian television. And she just simply takes our breaths away - even in the simplest of outfits/makeup. Contrary to popular opinion, I pretty much love Khushi when she’s at her simple best. You see, even a particular Raizada fell in love with her in her initial days then I am just a simple, easily pleased human being.
Ok, enough chatter, here are my top 10 *cue dramatic music* looks of Khushi before she was married to sullen-face-who-doesn’t-let-me-interview-Anjali-you-know-who Singh Raizada.
Tumblr media
#1 The First Look
Pehli Nazar Main, Kaisa Jadoo Kar Diya Tera Ban Baitha Hai Mera Jiya
It was a strange magic, at first sight. My heart and soul have become yours
Okay, we all know this was an angsty, tension filled moment but can we pause and appreciate the perfect beauty of Khushi Kumari Gupta? The hazel eyes? The second glance? The perfect, slight makeup and damn, the combination of green, gold and pearls?
Forget Raizada, she pretty much had all of us half in love with her with the slow gaze.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
#2 Red
Aisa dekha nahi khoobsurat koi, jism jaise Ajanta ki murat koi
Jism jaise nigahon pe jadoo koi, jism nagma koi jism khushboo koi
Jism jaise mehakti hui chandni, jism jaise machalti hui ragini
Jism jaise ke khilta hua ik chaman, jism jaise ke suraj ki pehli kiran
Jism tarsha hua dilkasho dilnashin, sandli sandli marmari marmari
Husan-e-jaana ki tareef mumkin nahi
Afreen afreen afreen afreen
We have never seen one with such beauty as she. Hers is the beauty of the sculptured idols of Ajanta. Her beauty has bewitched our gaze. Her beauty is an alluring song, the a heady fragrance, the beauty of scented moonlight, the beauty of a haunting melody, a blossoming garden, the first light of dawn. Her beauty is as fragrant as the sandalwood, as pure and delicate as marble  It is impossible to describe that beautiful beloved. Praise to her Creator!
Red saree. Dark eyes. Nude lips. Open hair. No jewelry apart from her nose ring and massive earrings. Sweet Lord!
I don’t know about you, but I’m dead - just like the staring Raizada at the other end.
Tumblr media
#3 Thunder
Aankhein teri, kitni haseen
Ke inkaa aashiq, mein ban gayaa hoon
Mujhko basaa le, inn mein tu..
Zulfein teri, itni ghani
Dekh ke inko, yeh sochtaa hoon
Saaye mein, inn ke main jiyoon
Your eyes, so beautiful that I have fallen in love with you. Hold me in your gaze. Your hair, so thick and beautiful, that I want to live in their shade.
We all know that night lightning didn’t strike the skies, it struck a particular Raizada’s heart. And with all that hair flying, she looks like an absolute Goddess. Hands down one of my personal favorites when it comes to Khushi cause this is a physical description of her - innocent, sensual, sans makeup, enchanting and almost... divine.
Tumblr media
#4 The Gaze
Teri jhuki nazar, teri har ada
Mujhe keh rahi hai ye dastaan
Koi shaqs hai jo ki in dinon
Tere zehan-o-dil pe hai chha gaya
Your downcast gaze, your every grace, tells me the tale that there’s someone these days who has conquered your mind and heart.
Doesn’t she look like a painting? By Jove! I am dying to see this level of simplistic makeup and outfits return in the world of television (which seems to be hacked by a fashion and makeup monster). Her curiosity, innocence and beauty spills beyond the screens!
The power in her gaze is unparalleled! No wonder Raizada fell flat and couldn’t stop thinking about her, none of us could either!
Tumblr media
#5 A Bride
Ek ladki ko dekha toh aisa laga
When I saw a girl I felt...
*remains as speechless as the Raizada staring at her*
She is running. In a bridal attire.
It’s as if the Lords themselves are intervening to show a particular Raizada here, look at your bride running towards you, isn’t she the most beautiful, perfect, innocent creature walking on this planet - come on say you love her you diabetic fool! STOP STARING DO SOMETHING.
When will the Lords send me a sign of my beloved running to me? Or maybe I should try the running?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
#6 The Melody of Silence
Surili akhiyon wale, suna hai teri akhiyon se
Behti hai neendein aur neendon mein sapne
The one with melodious eyes, I've heard that from your eyes. Sleep flows and in that sleep there are dreams. Why don’t you land up on the shore and enter my dreams? Descend on the earth and meet me somewhere. Meet me someplace where there’s no time. Please listen to my eyes through yours.
I went fancy with that title, didn’t I?
But oh I’ve never been more enamored by a pair of pretty eyes. The smudged kohl is doing all the trick, along with the few strands of her fringe. Khushi is positively glowing and I think it’s impossible to look away and not have that face imprinted in your minds.
Like a certain Raizada’s (totally digging the eye blowing sexy Rabba Ve vibe here).
- Read #7,#8, #9, #10
Reported by,
Kamlesh Khabri
Next week’s issue: Top 10 Hottest Looks of Arnav Singh Raizada & Top 10 Looks of KKGSR. Also, if you have any farmaish/request - feel free to ask (kinda begging you to ask but I have my pride).

“Chicken...” : Ben Hardy! Roger Taylor Imagine: Plus Size Reader: BoRhap Imagine
Tumblr media
Ben Hardy! Roger Taylor Imagine Roger Taylor x Reader Reader: PS Reader, Plus Size Reader BoRhap Imagine
Roger Maddows Taylor was a lovely person.
And you loved this person with all your heart.
Roger was kind and sweet.
He was a lovely partner.
And he was also very beautiful which was an added bonus.
However, it would seem....he did not like chickens.
Which as highly bothersome to you because you DID like chickens.
You loved them actually.
They were your favorite animals of all.
He was curious and you damn well knew it ...but one literally shook a foot at him one time and now he's scared.
However, there were baby chicks to be had and you would be damned if you didn't have some.
Which was leads you to now.
You've sat in the back of your yard on the huge estate that Roger insisted on having.
For all the lush and grandious of his lifestyle, you were just a simple person who enjoyed simple things.
And one of those things...were chickens.
You'd built a chicken coop which was more like a glorified play house and a huge fenced in area for your little feathered friends to roam free.
Rog didn't mess with the chickens.
That was your thing and he just didn't bother.
One landed on his chest one day while he was by the pool and he nearly had a fucking heart attack.
They'd grown now and now....NOW....there were new baby chicks.
From your favorite.
I mean, you don't pick favorites because you love them all but you do have one chicken that you sometimes sneak into the house.
You may have named her Rogerina.
Rog may take personal offense to that.
But the day had come and her eggs had hatched.
As with all things, some make it and some don't but there are six precious little babies to be loved.
Freddie, who you had called instantly, was beside you ready to spoil his feathered godchildren.
Just as you did with your furry godchildren.
Together you named one, Beatrice Luxamonique ....the third.
Nickname Bee.
Brian who had been dragged into such a production and pressured into naming one of them chose a simple but elegant name.
Josephine to be called Jo - just in case it was a boy.  Trust Brian to be reason.
Deaky, fucking Deaky, he named his Maddows...to spite Roger.
Rog always knew the two of you were in it together.
Always working against him.
And last you left the ity bity one for Roger to name.
He shook his head.
"You name it." he said.
"I already named one." you argued, holding the precious little fluff out to him.
"No, that was Fred." he said, easing away from the innocent floof.
"It was a joint effort." you said. "Just like our marriage, Taylor.  So stop being a fucking chicken and hold the fucking chicken."
He took one look at you and heaved a sigh before he held out his hands.
You held the baby up to him and it happily - and clumsily- tumbled into his hands.
Damn near went over the edge and he scrambled to catch it.
"Honestly." he chastised it, "Just like your mum.  Can't leave you be for 1 second without you tumbling your death."
He glanced up to find a smile crawling onto your face.
"Shut it." he warned and you just smiled.
Your head titled to the side and your eyes damn near sparkled and you turned into a pile goo at the sight of Roger lightly scolding the baby chick for being clumsy...and him calling you it's mum.
"So....what about the name?" you asked softly.
The boys rolling their eyes at you in the background.
Anytime Roger did anything remotely soft...you were a pile of goo afterwards.
Eyes basically full of hearts and your insides like marshmallow cream.
You'd be on him like white on rice tonight and everyone knew it.
It's like the time he picked a stray dog up in the rain so it wouldn't get wet.
Everyone just fucking left the tour bus to get away from you two.
He sighed and the little chicken nestled into his hands.
An odd little noise came out of it as he cradled her and smoothed a finger over her soft, downy feather.
"I could be really evil here and pay you back for naming you pet chicken Rogerina." he commented.
You stared at him defiantly, "I would love nothing more than to have a chicken named after me."
"However, that's an unescessary punishment for the chicken....to share a name with such a horrid creature as yourself." he teased and you held back from socking him in the arm....because he had the chick.
He smirked wickedly, "Ah, have I discovered the secret to your protection?"
You narrowed your eyes and flared your nostrils.
"If I'd have known chickens provided protection I'd have got one sooner." he teased.
"Your chicken naming priviledges have been revoked!" You declared. "Give me back my baby! I'll name it!"
"Her, darling." he said pointedly.
"You don't know the sex yet, Roger." you said.
"Yes, I do." he said. "It's a girl.   And even if it isn't- it doesn't matter. "
"Oh?" I asked. "And what's this name then?"
"Floof." he said matter of factly.
You just stared at him.
"Floof?" you said.
"Floof." he nodded. "She's daddy's little girl now.   Or boy if she decides otherwise later in life."
You stared at him for a second longer.
You didn't break eye contact as you spoke to the three men behind you.
"Good bye, darlings." you said.
The laughed slightly behind you.
"Don't kill him, love. Please.  We kind of need him." Brian teased as he patted Roger's shoulder as he walked away.
"At least put the chickens up first." Deaky teased.
"Shall I inform your neighbors that you are not killing Rog and that he's willing and ready?" Freddie teased.
That earned a smirk and he kissed your cheek before leaving.
"Didn't realize bonding with your fuzzy demons would produce such a fire, darling." Roger teased as he gently herded the chickens back into the enclosure with Rogerina.
"Roger?" you asked.
He looked over his shoulder at you, "Yes?"
"Put Floof down." you said calmly.
"What? Why?" he asked and you damn near melted on the spot at his closeness to your beloved chickens.
"Because our feathered children are not allowed to see  Mommy and Daddy howl like wild beasts." you said.
A wicked grin overtook him and he snatched you up and ran off into the house with you.
Turns out, chickens are now Rog's favorite animal ever.
Also, Rogerina is his new wing man....er Wing-woman...chicken?
Whatever, you get the point.
Cock-a-doodle- damn-doo.
