i’m sure someone talked about this when jatp first came out but i just rewatched it in years. (not because i forgot about it, not because i didn’t like it, but because it hurt so much to know this show wasn’t getting renewed and i had to avoid it in order to protect myself)
something i just love about the show is how they never bash on any other types of music. and each character has more than one genre of music to like.
yes, Sunset Curve was a rock band and Julie and the Phantoms are more rock indie/alternative rock band.
but that doesn’t stop Reggie from liking country music, “I shred on the banjo,” and Jeremy Shada later on actually writing and performing “Home Is Where My Horse Is” (which I recommend heavily).
that doesn’t stop Alex from getting into Dirty Candi’s bubblegum pop music and dancing alongside Carrie on stage, (and how hard it must be for Carrie, who’s father is a rock musician, and how his fans must hate that his daughter is a fem bubblegum pop musician)
that doesn’t stop Luke from absolutely going insane over Caleb’s first performance, “The Other Side of Hollywood” with it’s 20’s era vibe and Broadway level intensity. (he was also into more classic rock as shown when he tried playing a song that Bobby/Trevor stole for Julie) (and lets not forget that he can also make the most emotional ballad of alternative rock)
and that doesn’t stop Julie from alternating between piano, rock music, pop verses, love ballads, and indie rock. and she and Flynn never once talk badly about Carrie’s music genre.
everyone can have more than one type of music they’re interested in or just show appreciation for instead of bashing it or disregarding it and i love that this show did this.

So recently I made this poll, and in typical fashion, I didn't quite think it through. As a result, I made it way too easy to choose. 😅💦 That's my B. So in an attempt to make something a little bit less unbalanced, I'm redoing the poll with some changes.
Same scenario: Two job offers, can't have a second job or a side hustle.
The first offer is still your dream job, but this time you make enough to support yourself. And nothing else. Your bills are paid, and there's food on your table and gas in your car, but there is no room in your budget for anything beyond that. You are only making just enough money to keep your head above water. God help you if you have an emergency.
The second job is essentially the same as last time: Naked in an empty room for eight hours a day, Monday through Friday, with a lunch break, and you're allowed to bring your own entertainment. Whatever you bring in the room with you has to leave with you at the end of the day, you can't bring other people with you, and you are being recorded and livestreamed for the whole eight hours barring your lunch break. You're not allowed to cover yourself. The job pays six million a year.
I'm curious how much the answers will change compared to the first time around. And if you voted in the last poll, tell me if your answer changed and why. 😃

Calling All Ad-Free Subscribers
if you hate the new dashboard layout and find it unusable, and/or hate Tumblr Live and want it gone forever
CANCEL YOUR AD-FREE SUBSCRIPTION RIGHT NOW
and send Tumblr Support a POLITE message telling them you have done so and why.
The ONLY chance of getting Tumblr execs to pay attention to existing user feedback rather than whatever the marketing department is telling them about new users, is to hit them in the wallet.
You'll still get the remaining time on your subscription before they start shoving ads down your throat, and if they haven't fixed shit by then, there's always adblockers.
This is the wording I used:
Hi Support,
I have just canceled my ad-free subscription due to the unusuable dashboard layout and the inability to permanently disable/remove Tumblr Live. In addition, I will no longer purchase merchandise or gifts. I am not willing to give money to a company which has made clear that it does not care about or listen to its userbase, especially the loyal ones who've been around for a decade or more.
If Tumblr reverts the layout changes or otherwise makes the dashboard usable again, AND provides the ability to permanently disable Tumblr Live (both at no cost to users), I will reconsider my decision.
Tumblr has made clear they only care about money. Let's speak their language.

Finally my youtube channel is eligible for monetization, which means I get to decide how many ads there are, which means NO midroll ads because I hate them!!
I hate them so much and it's very scummy of youtube to have been putting them on my videos without paying me anything, just because I hadn't met their arbitrary requirements for watchtime.

This is what I mean when I say the average fandom legit treats artists like content machines instead of people. We're not allowed to ask for support of any kind, we just have to shut the fuck up and give you whatever you want for free no matter if it means we have to live in poverty or we're selfish, greedy monsters. Real "I can't believe this handmade crochet blanket costs $500 you're so selfish don't you know I'm too poor to buy that?" type energy. Clown shit of the highest degree.
You're not fans, you're entitled assholes who have no idea how the world works and got their understanding of class politics from oppression olympics type dipshits on twitter who think anyone who isn't so poor they live in their car and can't afford food is part of the 1% and it's so fucking obnoxious.
