I know i’ve said it before. But this discourse about the ethics regarding taylor swift being a billionaire are so disingenuous. She doesn’t have a makeup line, clothing line, brand endorsements.

The bulk of her income is entirely from her own talent as a musician. She has not exploited anyone. She’s also not even close to being a cash billionaire when you look at the numbers it’s like half of that ( bc it’s hard to become a billionaire without shady shit) . Taylor is known to pay her employees well. By percentage what she gives away to charity and compensates her team with is unheard of. She gave 10% of her net worth away in bonuses to everyone who worked on her tour. That’s just what we know of.

I’m not even saying this as a fan, but you cannot look at someone like her and how she moves and compare that to other billionaires and oligarchs.

I’m all for wealthy people paying their fair share. I hate capitalism and the current system but I do think she’s a good example of doing the best to be ethical within the current system

one of my least favorite facts about food is that over 80% of quinoa is grown in the Andes. and that’s a genuine problem for MANY reasons.

terrace farming techniques on hill/mountainsides were pioneered by people that switched between crops year after year. excess planting of quinoa is ruining soils that do not naturally regenerate easily.

climate change is forcing farmers higher and higher up in elevation as previous terraces lose productivity for a variety of factors

very very few places in the world are suitable to grow quinoa in general, and there are literally over 3000 varieties of potato/oca native and adapted to that region that should be prioritized instead

locals are unable to maintain the food standards their culture existed for millennia with. in order to survive and make money they turn from crops that enriched the soil and fed their families, to cash crops such as quinoa that DO NOT benefit their community much if at all.

there are very few varieties of quinoa grown en masse and as people want more and more of it, the plant’s natural defenses against disease/fungus are traded for increased production. same thing that happened to wheat and rice.

all of these also apply to potato crops grown in the andes. they went from growing 1500 varieties to growing like 2 “different” yellow potatoes

anyways, this ISNT an attempt to tell y’all that a plant based diet ain’t the way, but—

eating native/sustainable/adapted plants, growing your own food, and sourcing products locally are ALWAYS better options than maintaining a diet based on what the internet tells you is better for the environment. your “sustainable and good-for-the-environment” food shouldn’t be shipped across 3+ country borders to get to you.

You know for all that the Fenton's are seen by the fandom as A+ parents, I really don't think anyone has really put any though into WHY they are like that.

Because its VERY clear that Butch bitchman has parent issues, if the Fenton's ACTUALLY acted based on their trauma with how they lost Vlad then they would be almost OBSESSIVE with how safe they are in the lab. They lost their best friend to a lab accident that nearly killed him and unknown chemicals/elements, you're telling me that wouldn't fundamentally scar 20 somethings actively prosuing beings that they see as dangerous? You're telling me they wouldn't look at the destruction of the lab and suddenly ask themselves how could this have happened? How could've they prevented this?

And if you REALLY like the Angst of the Fentons, imagine what it would do to them to realize the ONE time, ONE TIME, they didn't double and triple check the safety of their portal it cost them their son's life.

Anyway I really think it would've been more interesting if the Fentons were obsessed with lab safety and the inherent tragedy of their lives related to that.

Regulations are written in blood and the Fentons have learned this lesson twice over.
