You know what. I get why Anakin went to the darkside. You're gonna show me the Phantom Menace and hear Qui Gon tell Anakins mother that he isn't there to free the slaves, just pick up her son on a whim. And then to have him go and return Jabbas son, JABBAS SON, back to him? After he was owned by Gardulla? And no one says that that was inappropriate to have him do. And then in the Zygeria arc for Anakin to be upset about slavers, as he should, and Obi Wan tell Ahsoka that Anakin and his mother were sold into slavery so it's a touchy subject for him. He wasn't even sold into slavery. He was born into it! And this was Obi Wan, Anakins supposed brother? Shocking that Anakin would feel so betrayed and undervalued that he would go to the dark side. Anakin shouldn't have ever been a jedi. He should've been in therapy on Naboo with his wife. I love you Obi Wan, but you really did fail and I also hate you, in this essay I will-

This is a lie fabricated by Captain Helix the clone medic (and enthusiastically endorsed by Chief Healer Che) as a convenient excuse to get people to leave his fuckin' general alone for five minutes sometimes. Obi-Wan is touched, except for that no-one will let him have nuts or seafood at parties anymore and the Chancellor keeps trying to feed him shrimp and pistachios for some reason.

I've decided the only valid answer to the question of "Could another Master have trained Anakin better/saved Anakin from Falling" is Jon Antilles.

This has absolutely nothing to do with any sort of personality differences between Jon Antilles and Obi-Wan or any belief that Jon Antilles would be a better teacher or has anything in particular in common with Anakin, and everything to do with the pure rage-fueled aneurysm that being Jon Antilles's Padawan would give to Palpatine as he tries to contact Anakin and is told for the 7th time now that Anakin and his Master were just declared dead again and no one's sure if it's stuck this time.

SW Hades AU June Update

Other monthly updates: May - June - July - August

This month I’ve had some time to organize my notes and plans for my Star Wars meets Hades AU - I have a massive table for all of the characters, which original Hades game character they had been modeled after, and whether they need portraits/tokens/keepsakes/crests/etc. it’s colour coded and everything. (Fennec had to be cut out from the lineup and I’m hopelessly heartbroken about the whole thing* 😭)

Everyone has an icon who needs one (I’m sorry about the Echo and Fives one, okay? But they come as a package deal, and I also wanted to make sure that Echo is easily distinguishable from all the other clone characters and not just the average looking clone guy next to Fives who - by order of elimination - must be Echo), and everyone has a crest who needs one (except for maybe Barriss… I feel like that the Jedi order symbol doesn’t fully fit her, but for now I will keep it as a place holder. I can't come up with anything better for her at the moment T^T. The froggie returned to the “chtonic companions” line (it is exactly the plushie that Echo and Fives would give Grogu), and now there is Batcher too! If you notice any similarities between Batcher and Boba’s old rancor rag doll, it’s mostly because I took that one and modified it to fit the lurca hound, since they have a similar back ridge pattern.

I also think that it could be a cute in-universe thing if the Batcher doll had been modified from the rancor. Timelines are very flexible in this AU anyway, so it could be totally plausible.

Speaking of! I have a character sketch for Omega and Batcher!

It took me a while to settle on which version of Omega I wanted to put into this AU, but I am very happy with what I could come up with in the end. I had some trouble with what to do with her face, since Hades is really lacking in young teenage characters, and even Melinoe and Eris from Hades2 didn’t prove to be of much help, so I allowed a bit more of my own style to slip back in. With everything else I think it hit a nice enough balance. I mixed her s2 and s3 appearance into one outfit and gave her back her hat and old crossbow (I know she got a new one from Echo, but I prefer how this one sticks out over her shoulder).

This seems to be a girls’ update, since the next sketch I want to share concepts Bo-Katan and her Nite Owls! I’ve wanted to add them to this AU for ages, but all that armor and posing had just seemed too much of a hassle up until I had to seriously distract myself from some irl stress. So now I’ve got the trio to stand in for the fury sisters as first bosses. (I'll need to adjust Koska a little, I see it now)

God bless whoever’s decided to make one of those 30 cm action dolls of these guys, they had been so helpful when it came to looking up reference details! (While we are at details: I made Koska left handed (I think? Or opposite handed at the very least) because I had been coming up with their composition under the impression that she had her flame thrower in her right vambrace like Din and Boba do, which, upon further inspection, she does not ^^;)

Some in-universe thoughts regarding them: 1) Din can very much lose the Darksaber to whoever kicks his ass if he runs with is as his weapon of choice, and then has to return to reclaim it from that enemy (he doesn’t want to but they are in his way), and if he loses it either to her or another enemy Bo-Katan will most definitely have an opinion on the matter. 2) Boba is more than happy to swoop in as a “godly call” against Koska. If he has the option to claim the Call boon from Boba, it's a pretty good indicator that it will be Koska waiting for him at the end of the level. 3) After a while and enough encounters Axe starts showing up around and in the arena on this AU’s equivalent of the Elysium level. Paz would do anything not to have to talk about that minor detail. (Din: "Why does Axe Woves keep calling you baby girl?" Paz *steam escaping from the edge of his helmet* "how about we stop talking for a while." <- This meme has been on my mind for months, now you have to suffer it with me XD) After that it’s a boss fight of Din vs Paz and Axe.

This post is getting a bit long, so I will leave my progress with Obi-wan’s background to the next update. I will also make a separate post on the new little portrait icons, but I really liked how cute Rex and Omega looked next to each other in the big lineup Q^Q

*the only thing that made me dedicate myself to this decision with a heavy heart is that Fennec had been in the Bad Batch, and that would give me the ideal excuse to imagine her in a Hades2 inspired AU where she is helping Omega (as a stand in for Melinoe). I’ve thought a lot about this even before the test version of the game came out, and a lot of it would track now that I’ve seen some game play and story and characters but. Let’s not be delusional, I can barely keep up with this project, and the Hades2 art style, while super pretty, has a twist on the first game's art style that makes me want to cry when I think about replicating it ^^; so that just remains a nice little thought experiment.

Ventress went through the same thing, mostly because I think that in a strange way she would fit very well with Hecate's role. Especially after that s3 episode where she had her cameo with her new fancy haircut.

Transpotting obi-wan and life as a house anakin??!! I love your brain, I'm obsessed. Why did they grow apart, what happened?? What were they like when they met each other again?

so it’s like this right, they spent their teenage years together in a tumultuous friendship/relationship and the love was there but they were both also dealing with other things (primarily drug use depression teenage angst, etc) and it was more unhealthy than it was healthy most times - then obi-wan’s family puts him in a treatment center and anakin’s move away and they just. lose touch. It’s probably for the better. Thinking about the other is an itch they scratch every once in a while, but their lives moved on. They got better, they got help, they found different cities to move to, they have careers.

then they just. Run into each other. At the grocery store when they’re in their thirties. Anakin is examining tomatoes and he looks up and there’s obi-wan kenobi except not the obi-wan Kenobi anakin remembers. This one has muscle and hair and this one is wearing a smart outfit and tailored pants and a bright yellow raincoat?

and he’s so struck by him and all his changes that he almost doesn’t say anything until obi-wan is halfway turned away and its just a choked out croak of his name and obi-wan looks at him all confused like “hello do I know you?” because anakin’s also changed so much. lighter hair, no piercing, fucking. khaki pants. two children holding onto his pant legs. suburbia looks good on him. the anakin obi-wan knew would have thrown up at the sight of this future for himself.

(anakin works in middle management now and it’s not his passion but he also isn’t quite sure what that is, and it’s good enough money to support his kids. when their mother died, it was the first and only time anakin ever really tried to look for a way to contact obi-wan, because he just needed to talk to someone who understood the whole of him. he couldn’t find him.)

(obi-wan goes by ben to most people these days. it was an easy way to separate who he was from who he is now. he can’t quite find the words to tell anakin that though because to anakin Skywalker, he’ll always be obi-wan. ben, who is really just obi-wan even though he pretends different, owns a bar/restaurant now. he’s all teeth when he asks anakin if he wants to stop by for a drink later. gives him the address to Ben’s, tells him he’s the owner, forgets to tell anakin he’s also Ben so anakin gets the impression obi-wan and this Ben guy own a bar together so they must be together. when they fuck that night after their drink (inevitable), anakin thinks obi-wan’s cheating on ben but it’s not like he can stop himself. obi-wan’s always had a pull to him, where anakin’s concerned. just goes to show that maybe they do make each other worse, like an addiction they were clean or for so long only to stumble back into it)

The sun was setting.

Luke laid flat on the cliffside, keeping his head down the best he could. He was gripping his binoculars so hard that his fingers were starting to hurt a bit, but he had to keep holding onto them. He couldn't afford to drop them.

Tonight was the night he was going to see it. He could feel it. Tonight.

He had the perfect place. The cliffs were high enough that he could see all the way around him for a good amount, but had sharper edges that he could use as a cover if needed. It was perfect.

Tonight. Tonight, he would see it.

Something moved behind the rocks to his left. Luke hurried to lift the binoculars to his face to see, and he aimed them straight at Uncle Owens irritated face.

"Home, now", Uncle Owen ordered.

"But uncle-" Luke tried, even if he knew that it was in vain. How had his uncle even found him? He couldn't have seen Luke from behind the rocks!

"No buts", Uncle Owen interrupted him. He marched right up to Luke and bend down to grab him by the arm. "It's almost night. It's not safe to be out here when it's dark, and you know that."

He hoisted Luke to his feet in one pull, and Luke really had to keep holding onto his binoculard in order not to drop them.

Luke tried to pout. Uncle Owen did not care.

"Uncle-" he tried again, but Uncle Owen only hissed at him, and so Luke snapped his mouth shut. He kept his mouth shut all the way home, and until he was sat at the dinner table and Aunt Beru had put his plate in front of him.

"Where did you find him?" Aunt Beru asked.

"At the cliffs", Uncle Owen answered. "Looking at the skies again."

"I was going to see it tonight", Luke protested. "I knew I was!"

Uncle Owen frowned at him, but Aunt Beru managed to speak first.

"See what?" She asked Luke.

"The dragon!" Luke answered. "The one that flies over the dunes after sundown!"

Uncle Owen huffed.

"There are no flying dragons here", he said. "And you better pray that you will never see the non-flying ones either."

"There are!" Luke insisted. "I heard it once! I saw it's shadow! I'm sure!"

"Luke." Uncle Owen's tone made Luke to snap his mouth shut again. "There are no flying dragons here. You better keep your fairy tales to yourself. Some unfortunate fool is going to believe you and wander into the desert at night and be killed. Is that what you want?"

Luke shook his head. Uncle Owen huffed again.

"That's what I thought", he said. "Now eat. You need to be up early tomorrow."

Aunt Beru patted him softly on his shoulder.

"It's a long day tomorrow", she said, and Luke picked up his fork and started to shovel is dinner into his mouth quietly. Uncle Owen's face was set in a way that meant serious trouble if he continued to argue, and Luke wasn't stupid.

He did stay up a little longer than he should've that night, keeping his window open. Just in case.

The desert sky stayed silent. Luke waited and waited, his eyes growing unbearably heavy, until he had to close them.

He heard the dragon fly over the desert in his dreams.

There is one rule in the Star Wars universe and its that the more trauma someone goes through, the hotter they become.

I have a vision.

Okay, so, we all love Star Wars time travel fics. They're great, and I've read like, 50 of them in two days.

So. Obi-Wan travels to the future. From the Clone Wars to, oh, 10 years into the Empire era. Directly to Mustafar. Directly to Darth Vader's private chambers. Right in front of Darth Vader, who is currently helplessly floating in a bacta tank.

And the first thing he says is "oh Force, Anakin! What happened to you?"

And the first thing Darth Vader says is "You did this."

From Obi-Wan's perspective... well. Obi-Wan can feel it in the Force that the Jedi are gone. Anakin is grievously injured in every way possible, and he's telling the truth that Obi-Wan was responsible. They are on a remote planet, on which Anakin is obviously hiding.

Obi-Wan puts two and two together and gets twenty-two.

"I Fell. Didn't I, Anakin? I did this. All of this."

Obi-Wan explains away Anakin's obvious Darkness as a result of the trauma of watching his Master, brother and best friend become a Sith Lord. And, because Obi-Wan is duty-driven, selfless and above all a man who loves punishing himself, he immediately agrees to help Anakin hunt down his older self. Actually, he suggests it.

Darth Vader is caught in a conundrum. On one hand, he hates Kenobi almost as much as he hates himself. On the other hand, Kenobi is willingly admitting that this was all his fault and not Vader's (which is what Vader already believes anyways, and it's nice to have validation even if Obi-Wan is, technically speaking, wrong), and if he can just keep Young Obi-Wan on his side, he could overthrow Sidious...

Hilarity ensues. Vader tries to keep Obi-Wan from finding out the real truth while desperately lying to himself and Obi-Wan, and Obi-Wan is too caught up with blaming himself to actually look at the situation they're in, and, of course, if Vader just managed to be honest with Obi-Wan and Obi-Wan was able to return to his time, this whole mess could be averted.
