Now that the Grand Fest has officially come to an end and the winners announced, I would like to give a few words.

To Team Past: Congratulations big time for your win! You put in the good fight and prevailed despite, quite frankly, overwhelming odds (and out of our two opponents, you were the ones I would've wanted to win, if it wasn't us)! Well well done! 👏👏👏

And to my fellow folks on Team Future: Well done! We faced the same overwhelming odds as Team Past, combined with Past's odds stacked against us, and although we came in a very, very dead last, by Joe we didn't go down without a fight, and the effort alone, the drive to never give up, deserves praise enough. That just makes us underdogs, just like the dear idols that represented us! And unlike the Past or the Present, there is no way of escaping the Future, it'll come whether you like it or not! Be it tomorrow, next week, or next year, we will, eventually, prevail! Because we're the Future, and the Future is the marching passage of Time! Well done, guys! Well done indeed! 👏👏👏

so, most obvious question first: do you think that the octoling in the dlc teaser is agent 8, or is it somebody new? (btw i appreciate and adore your contributions to the splatoon community. your videos and posts have fed the Obsession Bugs that have plagued me so since splatoon 3's release, so thank you very kindly for that)

to me it looks like all signs point to 8. ive seen some people say marina but... no same hair and skintone as 8 in the OE trailer and in promo materials. playable character in the trailer is actually taller than the usual playable characters, which, with how 8 should be at least 19 by the time the dlc comes out vs the usual player characters are 14ish, makes sense. also pearl and marina, friends of 8, appearing in the trailer...itd be weird if it wasnt 8

Im currently writing this at like 12am so bare with me for a moment. This is gonna be a vent post so if you don't wish to see it then by all means ignore this and move on!!!!!! I'm just gonna vent about my Callie rambles and analyses and what I think about them. This is not anything too serious don't worry.

I wanna ask, do you guys find me annoying? I wanna know. Like. Are my rambles just too much? Because, I've been thinking to myself, "are my Callie rambles bullshit? Is my analysis of the character just wrong? Am I wrong about the Hypnoshades and callie was just brainwashed? Am I just trying so hard to say she was hypnotised because I dont wanna accept that a comfort character of mine was in significant mental pain and I wanna soften the blow by saying she had some form of agency?"

Everywhere I turn I'm told that I'm wrong in some way. Either via official sources and other people. I feel like I'm not making any resemblance of a difference in the community. I still see the same stuff being said. I still feel like the odd man out.

I know that inkipedia has a discord server and that I could chat in there and show my many callie analyses to make some change but like... I'm too much of a pussy to do that you know? I don't wanna get put down by THE people who run the splatoon wiki. That would devastate me. Absolutely ruin me. Destroyed by the experts of Splatoon. I can't. I genuinely would not be able to cope with their criticisms and I might just stop being a Splatoon fan after that point honestly. If you wanna send them my analyses and rambles then feel free to, idc. If they change the wording to brainwashing to hypnosis I think i could die a happy man lmao. But I'm too fucking scared.

I dont know why I feel this way about this character. I wish I never discovered this franchise because it has impacted my mental health. It's gotten better but still not great. I wish my brain would just not obsess over her and just follow what others say and say she was brainwashed and move on. But no, I can't. I just can't accept it. I'm too stubborn lmao.

I don't feel the same when it comes to someone like Marina and Agent 3, characters I've known for years and they go under a simliar "affliction" yet I don't get chest pain, I don't feel sad. I feel nothing. Why is it Callie? Why her... why can't I just be normal?... I feel like I'm actually insane and spurring out nonsense to people.

I know that I have received a lot of support and that people are 99% positive as to what I have to say about Callie. I truly TRULY appreciate that. But when a single person or two says that I'm wrong? That shit stings. Maybe it's because I'm autistic or I'm just really sensitive but, idk. I might regret this post in the morning idk.

So if you remember the pink vs green → octoling vs inkling post on my page, buckle up because we're back into this theorizing and what Side Order plays into that theory. If you haven't seen that post, I'd recommend checking it out for better comprehension.

! WARNING ! This post contains Side Order spoilers

So. We're back in Inkopolis Square. Splatoon 2's main theme, as I've discussed it, was octoling vs inkling. We had Off the Hook, the game's colors were green and pink, and we got to play as an octoling, who managed to change how former agent 3 viewed octarians, from their agent formation. Splatoon 2 ended with a proof that you can change, and you can actually learn if you're not hostile. It also ended with showing that defeat doesn't mean we have to be in bad terms, with the Finalfest.

Now let's look at our spire of order. It takes place in Inkopolis Square, but every color has been lost. Inkopolis Square doesn't represent green vs pink anymore, it's every color vs black, nothingness quite literally. And in order to win against Order (lol), you combine EVERY color together, and that's what Marina's talking about. Sometimes it creates a beautiful rainbow, as in !!!! Anarchy Rainbow, an inkling, an octoling, and a non inkfish. It is an absolute harmony that chaos brought, and she changed her ways. Octolings are no longer the enemy, and we can finally rest from fighting. Octavio found peace at heart and became our ally, and now Marina's speech fully concludes what Return of the Mammalians started. I think that's a great ending for that storyline that were those three games.

Also this has nothing to do with pink vs green, but to theorize about the next game (I'm half sure there'll be one), there's still those mysteries about Lil Judd, and ??? I still think we need to know what happened of Agent 4, and I truly think Side Order hugely teased that (Pearl not knowing who that is, Smollusk under appreciating them etc). Also maybe less important but I can't be the only one curious about Eight memory lmao.

Hello! I just wanted to mention that whenever I see your posts or reblogs, I smile. It's always wonderful hearing (reading?) your thoughts on random stuff, and the TAGS!! I'm relatively new to Tumblr, but something that I really love about it is the tags. You can put anything! It's like a little farewell message with bonus stuff for people who bother to read the whole thing (like me)! Especially on your posts, the little comments in them make me laugh.

More Halloween costumes with a bit of a twist! You see, Colonel Hicks couldn't participate himself as his restaurant has some specials around this time. But thankfully the recent release of a...rather bizarre dating sim featuring a young attractive version of himself gave him an excuse to send his most attractive male employee dressed as this version of him instead! Listen, I'm never gonna pass up an opportunity to remind y'all that I Love You Colonel Sanders is a Thing, it's even wilder than the premise suggests. And of course we've got Gina as Marina here as well, hehe :3 Decided to make her lipstick and nails aqua green to match too, at the very least the nails work as an interpretation of Marina's finger gradient, I imagine that'd be a bit harder to pull off without making a mess tbh.

okay since i finally beat side order half a year late in the span of a day, here is my personal thoughts on it, and what i liked vs what i didnt like:

it was. okay. but nowhere near as good as octo expansion. my main problem is that i feel like they didnt do enough with it. like the story is so minimal. it's like…. that's it?

i was hoping they would go more into eight's history and trauma and all that. and they did reference that a little bit, but only ever in hints. but then again i havent beaten the post-game yet so i could be wrong

also i kept hearing people talking about how hard it was, but for me personally it didnt feel nearly as hard as octo expansion but maybe thats just because ive been playing splatoon for a long time so i've gotten better at the game since i played octo expansion

i did love the visuals though. so pretty. and ngl one of my fave parts of the game was asynchronous rondo. because it seems that that boss is supposed to represent tartar. and also its design and song that plays during it was SO fucking cool

i just think the game has a great concept, but the story did not deliver. also the gameplay is too repetitive after a while. maybe im just biased and have too high expectations though because octo expansion is my favorite game of all time (yes im counting it as its own standalone game because it basically is)

at least this made me appreciate splatoon 3's main campaign better. because at least that one had fun story, lore, and banter, even if the ending and villain being a blatant octo expansion ripoff was disappointing

what i liked about the game: -the visuals -the concept -the designs of the enemies and bosses (especially asynchronous rondo; i love the callbacks to tartar in its design. it feels like the closest we're getting in the game to addressing 8's trauma) -def1sh finally appearing in the games wahoo -pearldrone is so cute -pearl and marina flirting lol -is fun the first few tries, before it starts to get boring and repetitive

what i disliked about the game: -poor writing, not enough story -it just feels so… hollow. there isn't the emotional investment in it that was present in octo expansion -wished it delved more into 8's and marina's psychology instead of only doing that in hints and implications -while there is some funny and unique dialougue like in octo expansion, it feels like there isn't that much. i kinda ended up skipping through most conversations because they were pretty bland, and weren't nearly as entertaining as the banter in octo expansion -it kinds gets really repetitive and boring after a while, especially compared to octo expansion where every level is super different. it needs more level variety and types of objectives imo -the ones where you gotta kill all those sunfish things are WAY too easy. all you need to do is speedrun getting enough points for a special and then you can just one-shot them all lol -i wish there were more bosses, because going against the same ones over and over gets tedious really quickly -why isn't there an infinite mode? i want to challenge myself to see how high a floor i can get :{ -wish it went more into dedf1sh, because it feels like they're just kinda. there. doing nothing. for the entire story. kinda wasted potential. you could remove them from the game and nothing would change -when will tartar (my fave character) return from the war it's one of my fave villains of all time oughhh.. the closest we got was asynchronous rondo. and also the main villain which is yet again an obvious tartar expy
