Milk White Steed by Michael D. Kennedy
Milk White Steed is an amazing work that we heartily recommend to one and all.
Kennedy’s strategies in representing the quality and character of Black British lives and times often employ and/or rely upon the figure of the duppy, a concept involving a spirit or ghost that originated in central Africa and later evolved to figure prominently in West Indian folklore, where it can be used to connect generations and also, in some respects, be seen as a device through which the past can be made manifest in the present. These employments can veer unexpectedly, yet nonetheless aptly, into the surreal – both visually in the artwork and also narratively, as automatic writing, free association and dream states, as well via incursions from the realms of science fiction and the supernatural into the quotidian.
Kennedy’s comics have broken new ground and his adaptation of the duppy to the world of comics is quite successful, revealing it to be ideally suited to the form.   Milk White Steed is a signal work that has the potential to open a new chapter in the history of comics.

Made a masterwork! Will denote that the design was traced as I was focused on the coloring techniques specifically (couldn’t find the original artist as this was found on Pinterest but the reference is right after my drawing!). Had a lot of fun with this and plan on experimenting more later

Love Bug - The Wreck-it Ralph Sequel we Deserved
Full disclosure, I am NOT the author/illustrator of this fanfic! I am not planning to post the fanfic & associated pictures here because A) I’m not the author/illustrator, B) it’s up to the original author to post their own work wherever they want at their discretion, and C) with all the AI BS going on, I don’t want to contribute by having some algorithm steal the author’s original pieces for “learning purposes.”
I am only sharing the link for this fanfic because it completely took over my brain after I saw the original Wreck-it Ralph and set a bar that no sequel could EVER hope to clear! And I’m desperate for more folks to talk to about how AMAZING this fanfic is! It has EVERYTHING we wanted for the Wreck-it Ralph sequel!
Ralph & Vanellope being THE daddy-daughter duo!
Felix & Calhoun not just being lovey-dovey or background comic relief, but being legit Couple Goals as they listen to each other, support each other, and trust each other to get stuff done. And, you know, being IN THE STORY for more than 5 minutes!
Felix & Ralph talking about the first 30 years of their existence & Felix taking some accountability for how Ralph was ostracized by the other Nicelanders.
Ralph & Calhoun chatting and being awkward in-laws.
More game-jumping to classic games like DDR, Mortal Kombat, and Mrs. PAC-Man.
Ralph staying in Bad-Anon
Remembering that Ralph was alone for 30 years, NOT 27 (seriously, Disney - how do you mess that up?)
Keeping Vanellope as the PRESIDENT of Sugar Rush, NOT the Princess!
When Ralph & Vanellope have a falling-out & “break up” for a tic, it comes from their miscommunication, their inexperience at friendship, and BOTH being afraid to lose the first & most significant relationship they’ve ever had as opposed to one being SUPER OOC & doing something impressively stupid & risky to keep the other close.
But it also has new material, like Ralph getting his very own love interest! And UNLIKE. A bunch of weird fanfics that shipped him with variations on Vanellope (either a new Bad Guy adult Vanellope or the original Vanellope magically aged up), his love interest is a completely original character!
Please, go forth, read, admire the pretty pictures, then message me so there can be a dialogue about this amazing sequel!

Hi folks, i'm Lupin of The Adventurer's Emporium, and I make fantastic cloaks! This one, Cloak of Dreams: Shattered, is my third in the Cloak of Dreams line, and they're high-end one-of-a-kind pieces, but I keep most of my cloaks basic with just everything a modern adventurer needs: water resistant, machine washable, pockets, more storage, heavy duty, comfortable, soft and huge so you can use it as a blanket, and a sturdy pewter clasp from TreasureCast, the best clasp folks in the US. On top of all those standard features of all my cloaks, Shattered has TWENTY NINE hidden pockets (and three visible ones). some of them are hidden inside other pockets! All the embroidery is manual zigzag embroidery, and in between nature themes and other common sigils are the alchemical symbols for gold, lead, combine, pulverize, brass, earth, and pluto (my boiiii, plutoooo, never forget ✌️). It's lining is fractured and shattered into 15 different fabrics, among which are loads of invisible pockets, but many of the hidden pockets are nestled among the stunning patches. Truly, no one is doing it like me!

2944. The Gladiator
This is "The Gladiator." Doesn't have to happen but should.
Tumblr media
Another rainy night in New York. The long, Nosferatu-ish shadow of autumn slowly creeping in.
Who out there is angry enough? To pack their bags? Buy a dog?
I could never stand to be imperfectly praised. Only panned. There's only true, hard masterwork in being panned.
But now I must grow a scraggly beard and drink bat's milk...
My name will be Caleb. Or Bracken. I will know about gladiators and leather-making. Please just love me when I ask you to!

One of the finest pieces of hand drawn animation ever done. Truly a masterpiece, a feast for the eye this years in production animated feature had more development and research done for it at great expense for a Disney feature since maybe FANTASIA.
One of the most (if not the most) expensive animated feature in Disney history and sadly one of the biggest box office disappointments ever for the studio.
Opinions? So much box office depends on the climate of the American people at the time of a picture's release, the political climate, the economy at the time and whatever dominates the news at the week of release.
Not to mention what is being released by competing studios for that same release date. It all impacts how a film does. Yes if a film is good and resonates with audiences it does well —unless people don't see it.
Due to advertising campaigns...?
The masterpiece THE IRON GIANT died at the box office because of one of the worst ad campaigns I can remember, including a poster that absolutely misrepresented this terrific piece of work.
But I digress why did this amazing Disney feature lose money for the studio? Is SLEEPING BEAUTY lacking something in its magnificent visual storytelling?
Something that just didn't resonate with Disney's movie going public?

Y’know I bet among demons Mobei Jun had a reputation of being a legendary romantic. All of the overtures he makes to his human are some public, so loud. He’s like demon Gomez Adams. On the other hand the demons see Shang Qinghua as the icy beauty, as capable as he is cruel. He ignores every gesture, plays at being pathetic to put their king off. He even plays with their king’s heart, stealing him away only for him to come back unmarried and without child.

[ID: A reply by @/kawaiipinkbunny that "OP I hate you SO MUCH". End ID]
Cinderella rewrite where Cinderella’s father is an unusually successful fisherman due to his secret friendships with the shy and mysterious mermaids, successful enough to attract a moderately wealthy and ambitious bride with two daughters. Once he dies, her stepmother, determined to make sure her daughters inherit the fishing business as dowries by marrying before Cinderella, forbids her from going out on the fishing boats or into town and makes sure she spends as much of her time as possible doing drudgework, hauling offal and cleaning fish. When the Prince’s ball comes around, an important occasion for young women to make good connections, the stepmother forbids her from going, telling her that she needs to get the latest salmon catch gutted and ready for sale instead.
Cinderella’s mermaid godmother calls upon her people to clean the fish and gifts her a dress and shoes of shimmering fish scales that wreathe her in rainbows under the moonlight. She makes an impression on the Prince at the ball so strong that he immediately falls in love with her, and when she’s forced to flee before her stepmother notices her (no masquerade mask or dancing rainbows will disguise her from her own family at close range), the Prince is left with only a delicate fish leather slipper left on the front steps to try to find her again.
He goes around the houses, seeking the owner of the slipper, but Cinderella is once again working in the fish sheds. He stepmother, desperate and determined and having found Cinderella’s other shoe that very morning, realises what has happened and takes a knife to the feet of her prettiest daughter, telling the prince that she suffered an injury that very morning but those are definitely her shoes, see, here’s the other one, and they still fit.
The daughter is pretty and witty and charming, and while the Prince doesn’t feel the same spark and instant sense of connection that he did at the party, he reasons that she’s overwhelmed and in pain and once she’s healed, all will be well. There are no birds to whisper of blood in the shoe – the Prince has seen the bandaged feet already – and the daughter slips on the shoes (the only shoes she has that will fit her, now,) and accompanies him to the palace.
But the stepmother is no doctor, and by the time the Prince gets her to the palace doctors, it’s too late – his beloved has contracted an infection in her feet from the shoe leather, made unclean in its travels. She will survive – it is an infection of a common filth of fish and birds, one that the doctors have potions for for the occasions where dangerously cooked food causes outbreaks – but in her raving, she confesses the whole scheme to the Prince who, furious, returns to the village to find the girl he truly fell in love with, the girl hidden from him.
“Oh, yeah, the fish cleaner,” the villagers shrug. “We don’t see her around very much, she’s probably in the sheds. Her family calls her Salmonella.”
