The Radiant Circle
Tumblr media
The Radiant Circle is a work-in-progress contemporary fantasy interactive novel with elemental magic, a heavy hand of romance, and a salt-sprinkle of mystery. The story is rated 18+ and may contain triggering content for some.
↪ introduction (updated 7/22/24) ⟢ demo (upcoming fall/winter)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were born without any magic into a long lineage of sorcerers who serve the Night Circle—a division of the Radiant Circle, the central governing body that maintains order among sorcerers. Even now when you live outside of the magical community, you’re still required to report to the local leadership about the magic you still don’t have.
Of course, only after having accepted a life without magic, you awaken a latent magical power too great to be yours. Myths speak of such a sorcerer, a Resonant Soul capable of mastering all four elements, reincarnated throughout history to bring balance to the magic community. So little is truly known, but that can’t be you.
But what if it is?
Thankfully, as an investigative journalist, what you do best is hunt for the truth. To unravel the secrets of your soul, you’re forced back into the world of sorcery to navigate ancient rivalries and contend with those who may fear your newfound power and seek to bury it for good.
Because while most didn't believe the myths to be true, others have been preparing for your return. Most of all? You four souls bonded to yours for eternity.

Play as the main character ⟢
Choose your name, appearance, gender, and sexuality.
Develop your personality as a harmonizer or disruptor—will you bring unity or will you bring destruction?
Gain mastery over elemental magic as the Resonant Soul—how much mastery in each element is up to you.
Travel the world while earning or losing influence through your decisions—will your reputation precede you or will you remain unknown?
Five romance options ⟢
Two pansexual men, one lesbian, and two gender-selectable romance options... and a hidden sixth romance option... with the potential for more to unlock later.
Four soulmates who will be revealed over the course of the story—your bonds, whether platonic or romantic, are yours to develop.
And if you don’t like romance, you can improve your friendships instead.
Or if you’re a misanthrope, deteriorate all your relationships to your liking.
Good endings? Check. Bad endings? Also check.

You ✦ 26-year-old journalist from Seattle, USA (ℹ) Rejected by the magical community because your magic never awakened, you once sought to understand why before later turning to a career of journalism to attempt to uncover truths that don’t have to do with magic. Your dissertation was titled “Unveiling the Hidden: A Comparative Study of Secret Societies and Their Influence on Modern Media." After landing your dream job as an investigative journalist, you're returning home to Seattle for your assignment.
⟡ tropes include main character (surprise! you're the main character), insider/outsider, the most wanted (because you are a…), person of mass destruction, (possible) living legend, (possible) lust object, (seemingly) cosmic plaything…
Arseau Nassiet ⟡ High Justicar 31-year-old water sorcerer (he/him) from Seattle, USA (ℹ) A talented water sorcerer, your older brother Arseau is well loved within the Night Circle's upper echelons, but he'd never brag about it. He has been away from home for over a decade, raising ranks within the circle alongside his best friend. He coordinates his visit home with yours during the holidays so he can see his favorite younger sibling (never mind that he has only one sibling—you).
⟡ tropes include protective older brother, brainless beauty (yeah, he's a himbo), the caregiver/caretaker, the confidant (if you want), the informant, nice guy (someone has to keep the peace between the Pico brothers), the reliable one...
César Pico (RO) ⟡ Archumbricar 31-year-old earth sorcerer (he/him) from Tijuana, MX (ℹ) One of the highest ranking earth sorcerers in the world, César is seen as the unofficial heir of the current Night Luminary—and he takes the role seriously. As your brother's best friend, he has been a permanent fixture in your life as far as you remember—another persistent reminder of the magic that has remained inaccessible to you and the community that left you behind. He's at least an attractive reminder, even if it's unfortunate that his rare smirk proves that he knows it.
⟡ tropes include the hero, the cold & brooding heir, older brother's best friend/forbidden love, age gap, opposites attract, danger deadpan, glory hound, tall dark & handsome (obviously) ⟡ solo-route (with a possible rivalry with his brother), borderline enemies to lovers, (possible first love), forced proximity, maybe the slowest burn
Rafa Pico (RO) ⟡ High Justicar 27-year-old fire sorcerer (he/him) from Tijuana, MX (ℹ) The younger brother of César....and also his left hand man even though he doesn't take his position within the Night Circle very seriously. He doesn't take anything very seriously except his freedom. Especially his freedom to flirt his way into anyone's good graces.
⟡ tropes include the explorer, the charming playboy, childhood/long time friend, (his) unrequited crush (on you), the (horny) bard, speed demon, hell seeker, elegant classical musician... ⟡ solo-route (with a possible rivalry with his brother), friends to lovers but he never really saw you as a friend, forced proximity, slow burn
Tumblr media
Gazi Gharib (RO) ⟡ Photojournalist 28-year-old (she/her or he/him) from New York City, USA (ℹ) Your roommate and best friend ever since you moved to NYC, they're always ready to help you investigate something new and dangerous.
⟡ tropes include the innocent, the best friend, the encouraging charmer, the serial romeo, the casanova, agent mulder (the believer), empathetic communicator, spirited competitor, the klutz ⟡ solo-route or poly-route with Deniz, besties to lovers (and you can start at the lover bit if you'd like cause this one is a...), faaaaaast burn
Deniz Yılmaz (RO) ⟡ Private Investigator 26-year-old (he/him or she/her) from Istanbul, TR (ℹ) Your next-door-neighbor and childhood best friend. You haven't kept in close contact, but they're the first person you think of seeing when you visit home.
⟡ tropes include the jester, agent scully (the skeptic), street-smart investigator, hardboiled detective, erudite stoner, literal-minded/snark knight combo, childhood friends, loyal supporter, gadgeteer genius ⟡ solo-route or poly-route with Gazi, childhood friends (or was it more?) to lovers, (possible second chance romance...), somewhere between slow and fast burn
Dr. Noel Sung (RO) ⟡ Journalist 41-year-old (she/her) from London, UK (ℹ) Your graduate school mentor who you credit for preparing you to land a job at The New York Times as prestigious as it is. She's now your direct supervisor, and she has quite the assignment for you.
⟡ tropes include the magician, high-powered career woman, absent-minded professor(/former forbidden love?), age gap, charismatic intellectual, intuitive leader, pragmatic idealist, deadpan snarker, determinator, shrinking violet, (your possible unrequited crush on her goes here)… ⟡ solo-route, workplace romance (technically; she's your boss now), slow burn

An ancient, hidden society of sorcerers ⟢
The Radiant Circle is the central governing body that maintains harmony and order among sorcerers, as well as keep their community secret. It was originally formed and led by the Resonant Soul (called the High Guardian—this is you) and the most powerful elemental sorcerers of the time (called the Founding Guardians—these are the four souls bonded to you) as an alliance of sorcerers from across the New Kingdom of Egypt.
After its formation, the magical community grew, and eventually, the Radiant Circle was divided into four smaller regional circles called the Ephemeral Circles: the Night Circle (you know the most about this one), the Dawn Circle, the Day Circle, and the Dusk Circle. These four circles, also called luminariates, are the main governing bodies of the current world of sorcery. Every known family of sorcerers lives under the eye of the Radiant Circle and one of the four Ephemeral Circles.
Only the Resonant Soul can be the High Guardian of the Radiant Circle. Only the four souls bonded with Resonant Soul can be the Founding Guardians. During periods where the Resonant Soul or the Guardians aren’t alive, these positions are left vacant and the Ephemeral Circles meet as the Radiant Council annually instead. Unfortunately, it's been so long since there has been a Resonant Soul that there aren't many people left who remember who sits at the top of the hierarchy.
You live as a Threshold—an uninitiated sorcerer, typically a child who can't use magic yet—within the luminariate called the Night Circle. You sit at the bottom of the hierarchy, but every other sorcerer you know? César is an Archumbricar, the right hand of the Night Luminary and leader of the Night Circle. Arseau and Rafa are César's High Justicars, his right and left hands. Your dads even play a role, advising the Luminary from their position in the Night Weave.
A single soul that can control all four elements, reincarnated once again—you ⟢
Before you became the Resonant Soul, you were a child born without magic to two prominent sorcerers sometime before recorded human history begins. Back then, it was common to put the child of every sorcerer through a resonance ritual, even children of sorcerers born without magic who always died in the process. But where there's a will, there's a way, and someone really wanted you to live and created circumstances that bound your souls together—one into endless reincarnation and the other into endless immortality.
You meet the four original Guardians over the course of hundreds of years. Your bonds are unique and have chained the fate of their souls with yours so that they are reincarnated in an endless cycle by your side. Even so, you've lived more lives without them than with them, lived more lives without magic than with it. Almost as if you're fighting a losing battle against knowing your true soul.
Only the Resonant Soul can resonate with all four types of elemental magic, but your magic remains locked away until you regain your memories (how're you supposed to regain memories you don't remember you need to regain? then again, how safe would it be to give you all that power and no recollection of all the mistakes you've made?). The Guardians are known for their extraordinary abilities in one element; their magic isn't sealed away, only their memories (which still isn't convenient—how are you supposed to know who they are if they don't know who they are?).

Guess who worked out a routine/ACTUAL study plan
As much as I love just listening to Disney songs in my target language, it wasn't doing much for actually learning.
I've also added two new target languages??? I know, I can't believe it either! Anyway, here's my current plan that's been working fairly well.
I aim to hit 7 areas in each language every day: Consume media, listen to speech, Read while listening, Speak, write, study and review.
The idea is to touch each item every day, not spend forever on it. Build consistency first and then spend more time on it if you want to.
An Example from my journal today:
(Italian)
Consume: Listened to Disney songs on the way to work (Resource: Spotify)
Listen: Italian pod 101 unit 1 listening videos (about 7 minutes total) (Resource: Youtube)
Read: Lingo Mastery Read along video, Elena and Catalina (Resource: Youtube)
Speak: Busuu Community challenges - counting lemons and talking about family (Resource: Busuu)
Write: One sentence in my planner. Buongiorno. Io sono cosi-cosi. (Resource: pen and paper)
Study: Chapter 4/A1 on Busuu: Pronouns, the verb "to be", talking about people. (Resource: Busuu)
Review: Busuu flashcards: formal and informal greetings (Resource: Busuu, Anki Droid flashcard system)
I also just installed Language Reactor! I can't believe I ignored it for so long. I like that it searches for shows in your target language for you, especially on Netflix who seem to randomly take Russian dubs down. I also like the customizeable color coding for words you know, words you want to know, and words that you probably don't need to learn right now based on your current skill level and how relevant the word tends to be in real life. It even has an auto-pause feature that will wait after each line so you can replay it or assign categories to words if you want.

What is Tangled Blessings???
Tangled Blessings is a solo journaling or 2-player RPG inspired by dark academia media, ghost stories, and graduate school.
Featuring a wizarding college, wandering specters, assigned houses, curses, devils’ bargains and more supernatural flavor, Tangled Blessings blends horror and the fantastical to help players craft a story that spans their time at the academy — culminating in one final showdown against their academic Rival.
Your Rival can be your best friend, a family member, a stranger, an enemy, a romantic interest or a combination of relations, and they're present in most of your memories at the academy.
How your relationship evolves with your Rival is up to you, but at the end of four years, you’ll still stand against each other in one final test of academic and magical mastery.
The game only requires a deck of tarot cards and a way to record the story.

Last week was a lot, which is why I did not post. I was exhausted. I am still less energized than usual, but I think that came from this weekend. It was a long weekend but also so much fun! I enjoyed every second of it! For my next book, I am choosing a book for a reading challenge I am doing. They have themes and one of the themes is a whale. The only whale I could think of in a book was Moby Dick, so despite the fact that my e-reader shows it has over 700 pages, my goal is to finish it by the end of the month which means about 65 pages per day starting tomorrow. Is it doable? Sure. Will I accomplish my goal? That's a little more uncertain considering that would be nearly an hour of reading per day, possibly more given the style of the book. Fitting that in will be rough, but if I read while on the road to and from dance, then maybe I can fit it in. If I finish school work early, then I could read then too. Why did I choose such a gigantic book to start in the middle of the shortest month of the year when I have to finish it by the end of the month to get challenge credit? (It's a library thing).
I have one month until spring break! I'll be traveling out of the country with friends and our moms for a nice relaxing (hopefully) ski trip. I cannot wait for that break!🦄

Death of the Author by Roland Barthes
translation by Richard Howard
In his story Sarrasine, Balzac, speaking of a castrato disguised as a woman, writes this sentence: "It was Woman, with her sudden fears, her irrational whims, her instinctive fears, her unprovoked bravado, her daring and her delicious delicacy of feeling" Who is speaking in this way? Is it the story's hero, concerned to ignore the castrato concealed beneath the woman? Is it the man Balzac, endowed by his personal experience with a philosophy of Woman? Is it the author Balzac, professing certain "literary" ideas of femininity? Is it universal wisdom? or romantic psychology? It will always be impossible to know, for the good reason that all writing is itself this special voice, consisting of several indiscernible voices, and that literature is precisely the invention of this voice, to which we cannot assign a specific origin: literature is that neuter, that composite, that oblique into which every subject escapes, the trap where all identity is lost, beginning with the very identity of the body that writes.
Probably this has always been the case: once an action is recounted, for intransitive ends, and no longer in order to act directly upon reality — that is, finally external to any function but the very exercise of the symbol — this disjunction occurs, the voice loses its origin, the author enters his own death, writing begins. Nevertheless, the feeling about this phenomenon has been variable; in primitive societies, narrative is never undertaken by a person, but by a mediator, shaman or speaker, whose "performance" may be admired (that is, his mastery of the narrative code), but not his "genius" The author is a modern figure, produced no doubt by our society insofar as, at the end of the middle ages, with English empiricism, French rationalism and the personal faith of the Reformation, it discovered the prestige of the individual, or, to put it more nobly, of the "human person" Hence it is logical that with regard to literature it should be positivism, resume and the result of capitalist ideology, which has accorded the greatest importance to the author's "person" The author still rules in manuals of literary history, in biographies of writers, in magazine interviews, and even in the awareness of literary men, anxious to unite, by their private journals, their person and their work; the image of literature to be found in contemporary culture is tyrannically centered on the author, his person, his history, his tastes, his passions; criticism still consists, most of the time, in saying that Baudelaire's work is the failure of the man Baudelaire, Van Gogh's work his madness, Tchaikovsky's his vice: the explanation of the work is always sought in the man who has produced it, as if, through the more or less transparent allegory of fiction, it was always finally the voice of one and the same person, the author, which delivered his "confidence."
Though the Author's empire is still very powerful (recent criticism has often merely consolidated it), it is evident that for a long time now certain writers have attempted to topple it. In France, Mallarme was doubtless the first to see and foresee in its full extent the necessity of substituting language itself for the man who hitherto was supposed to own it; for Mallarme, as for us, it is language which speaks, not the author: to write is to reach, through a preexisting impersonality — never to be confused with the castrating objectivity of the realistic novelist — that point where language alone acts, "performs," and not "oneself": Mallarme's entire poetics consists in suppressing the author for the sake of the writing (which is, as we shall see, to restore the status of the reader.) Valery, encumbered with a psychology of the Self, greatly edulcorated Mallarme's theory, but, turning in a preference for classicism to the lessons of rhetoric, he unceasingly questioned and mocked the Author, emphasized the linguistic and almost "chance" nature of his activity, and throughout his prose works championed the essentially verbal condition of literature, in the face of which any recourse to the writer's inferiority seemed to him pure superstition. It is clear that Proust himself, despite the apparent psychological character of what is called his analyses, undertook the responsibility of inexorably blurring, by an extreme subtilization, the relation of the writer and his characters: by making the narrator not the person who has seen or felt, nor even the person who writes, but the person who will write (the young man of the novel — but, in fact, how old is he, and who is he? — wants to write but cannot, and the novel ends when at last the writing becomes possible), Proust has given modern writing its epic: by a radical reversal, instead of putting his life into his novel, as we say so often, he makes his very life into a work for which his own book was in a sense the model, so that it is quite obvious to us that it is not Charlus who imitates Montesquiou, but that Montesquiou in his anecdotal, historical reality is merely a secondary fragment, derived from Charlus. Surrealism lastly — to remain on the level of this prehistory of modernity — surrealism doubtless could not accord language a sovereign place, since language is a system and since what the movement sought was, romantically, a direct subversion of all codes — an illusory subversion, moreover, for a code cannot be destroyed, it can only be "played with"; but by abruptly violating expected meanings (this was the famous surrealist "jolt"), by entrusting to the hand the responsibility of writing as fast as possible what the head itself ignores (this was automatic writing), by accepting the principle and the experience of a collective writing, surrealism helped secularize the image of the Author. Finally, outside of literature itself (actually, these distinctions are being superseded), linguistics has just furnished the destruction of the Author with a precious analytic instrument by showing that utterance in its entirety is a void process, which functions perfectly without requiring to be filled by the person of the interlocutors: linguistically, the author is never anything more than the man who writes, just as I is no more than the man who says I: language knows a "subject," not a "person," end this subject, void outside of the very utterance which defines it, suffices to make language "work," that is, to exhaust it.
The absence of the Author (with Brecht, we might speak here of a real "alienation:' the Author diminishing like a tiny figure at the far end of the literary stage) is not only a historical fact or an act of writing: it utterly transforms the modern text (or — what is the same thing — the text is henceforth written and read so that in it, on every level, the Author absents himself). Time, first of all, is no longer the same. The Author, when we believe in him, is always conceived as the past of his own book: the book and the author take their places of their own accord on the same line, cast as a before and an after: the Author is supposed to feed the book — that is, he pre-exists it, thinks, suffers, lives for it; he maintains with his work the same relation of antecedence a father maintains with his child. Quite the contrary, the modern writer (scriptor) is born simultaneously with his text; he is in no way supplied with a being which precedes or transcends his writing, he is in no way the subject of which his book is the predicate; there is no other time than that of the utterance, and every text is eternally written here and now. This is because (or: it follows that) to write can no longer designate an operation of recording, of observing, of representing, of "painting" (as the Classic writers put it), but rather what the linguisticians, following the vocabulary of the Oxford school, call a performative, a rare verbal form (exclusively given to the first person and to the present), in which utterance has no other content than the act by which it is uttered: something like the / Command of kings or the I Sing of the early bards; the modern writer, having buried the Author, can therefore no longer believe, according to the "pathos" of his predecessors, that his hand is too slow for his thought or his passion, and that in consequence, making a law out of necessity, he must accentuate this gap and endlessly "elaborate" his form; for him, on the contrary, his hand, detached from any voice, borne by a pure gesture of inscription (and not of expression), traces a field without origin — or which, at least, has no other origin than language itself, that is, the very thing which ceaselessly questions any origin.
We know that a text does not consist of a line of words, releasing a single "theological" meaning (the "message" of the Author-God), but is a space of many dimensions, in which are wedded and contested various kinds of writing, no one of which is original: the text is a tissue of citations, resulting from the thousand sources of culture. Like Bouvard and Pecuchet, those eternal copyists, both sublime and comical and whose profound absurdity precisely designates the truth of writing, the writer can only imitate a gesture forever anterior, never original; his only power is to combine the different kinds of writing, to oppose some by others, so as never to sustain himself by just one of them; if he wants to express himself, at least he should know that the internal "thing" he claims to "translate" is itself only a readymade dictionary whose words can be explained (defined) only by other words, and so on ad infinitum: an experience which occurred in an exemplary fashion to the young De Quincey, so gifted in Greek that in order to translate into that dead language certain absolutely modern ideas and images, Baudelaire tells us, "he created for it a standing dictionary much more complex and extensive than the one which results from the vulgar patience of purely literary themes" (Paradis Artificiels). succeeding the Author, the writer no longer contains within himself passions, humors, sentiments, impressions, but that enormous dictionary, from which he derives a writing which can know no end or halt: life can only imitate the book, and the book itself is only a tissue of signs, a lost, infinitely remote imitation.
Once the Author is gone, the claim to "decipher" a text becomes quite useless. To give an Author to a text is to impose upon that text a stop clause, to furnish it with a final signification, to close the writing. This conception perfectly suits criticism, which can then take as its major task the discovery of the Author (or his hypostases: society, history, the psyche, freedom) beneath the work: once the Author is discovered, the text is "explained:' the critic has conquered; hence it is scarcely surprising not only that, historically, the reign of the Author should also have been that of the Critic, but that criticism (even "new criticism") should be overthrown along with the Author. In a multiple writing, indeed, everything is to be distinguished, but nothing deciphered; structure can be followed, "threaded" (like a stocking that has run) in all its recurrences and all its stages, but there is no underlying ground; the space of the writing is to be traversed, not penetrated: writing ceaselessly posits meaning but always in order to evaporate it: it proceeds to a systematic exemption of meaning. Thus literature (it would be better, henceforth, to say writing), by refusing to assign to the text (and to the world as text) a "secret:' that is, an ultimate meaning, liberates an activity which we might call counter-theological, properly revolutionary, for to refuse to arrest meaning is finally to refuse God and his hypostases, reason, science, the law.
Let us return to Balzac's sentence: no one (that is, no "person") utters it: its source, its voice is not to be located; and yet it is perfectly read; this is because the true locus of writing is reading. Another very specific example can make this understood: recent investigations (J. P. Vernant) have shed light upon the constitutively ambiguous nature of Greek tragedy, the text of which is woven with words that have double meanings, each character understanding them unilaterally (this perpetual misunderstanding is precisely what is meant by "the tragic"); yet there is someone who understands each word in its duplicity, and understands further, one might say, the very deafness of the characters speaking in front of him: this someone is precisely the reader (or here the spectator). In this way is revealed the whole being of writing: a text consists of multiple writings, issuing from several cultures and entering into dialogue with each other, into parody, into contestation; but there is one place where this multiplicity is collected, united, and this place is not the author, as we have hitherto said it was, but the reader: the reader is the very space in which are inscribed, without any being lost, all the citations a writing consists of; the unity of a text is not in its origin, it is in its destination; but this destination can no longer be personal: the reader is a man without history, without biography, without psychology; he is only that someone who holds gathered into a single field all the paths of which the text is constituted. This is why it is absurd to hear the new writing condemned in the name of a humanism which hypocritically appoints itself the champion of the reader's rights. The reader has never been the concern of classical criticism; for it, there is no other man in literature but the one who writes. We are now beginning to be the dupes no longer of such antiphrases, by which our society proudly champions precisely what it dismisses, ignores, smothers or destroys; we know that to restore to writing its future, we must reverse its myth: the birth of the reader must be ransomed by the death of the Author.

Mastery Journal Entry: Reflecting on Business Venture Research Class
Going into m Business Venture Research class, my main goal was to get the understanding of how to properly do research and learn the different research methods while learning and evaluating how to launch a successful business. I was using this class as a way to develop the skills I needed to be in marketing, and how to learn about the trends within my writing industry. I also wanted to learn about the structure of my own business idea with using real data from people who already did the research, and I just had to find it to see how well I would pair off in my field.
Needless to say, this course met my expectation because it equipped me with the tools on how to conduct research with valid resources on different aspects of my writing business. I looked at many different case studies, I read different articles, and the assignments I did helped me assess the market demand and how I should refine my business model to make it better, and how to make it stand out above the others.
The key takeaway from this course would be how important it is to actually do research and make sure its thorough before putting your business out there. You want to make sure you stay on top trends and that there is a demand in the market for your business. Some of the readings I found extremely useful would be:
The Five Cs of Opportunity Identification: The five Cs would be Customer needs, competition, context, and capabilities. These principles had given me a structured format to visualize when creating my business idea.
Business Research Methods by Naval Bajpai: Specifically I want to talk about chapter 1. The chapter went over the differences between basic and applied research. The purpose of these two types of research is to help you decide to develop or contribute your knowledge. It went over the importance of the techniques and procedures for doing the research.
Startup Opportunities by Brad Feld and Sean Wise: This is another noteworthy resource I found helpful. In Chapter 3 it talks about the criteria for an opportunity. An idea but be durable, timely, attractive and it has to add value to the buyer. If it doesn't meet these four criteria's then there is no opportunity, and it won't be successful.
The Lean Startup by Eric Ries: This reading had given me an understanding about the methodology of the Lean Startup. It had focused on creating products and get feedback from customers so that we could better our business and products. This approach would be essential or me simply because with my content creation I want to create content people want, and in order to do that I would need to gather my reader's and clients feedback. It's essential to my success.
In my business, I would utilize the skills I learned in this class and apply al of the research methods and evaluations so that I can make my freelance business better and more appealing to my clients. More importantly, I would utilize the Five Cs of Opportunity Identification so I can better understand the market, trends, clients, and my readers. This would help strengthen my confidence in my ability to do proper research but also help me gain the knowledge for my writing. This class has helped me make better decisions and gave me the kills I needed to help me during my decision-making process and how to properly find opportunities for my business.

(IEMS) BUSINESS MODEL PRESENTATION AND THESIS - MASTERY JOURNAL ASSIGNMENT:
The title of this course quickly gave away the main objective of what we would be working on and completing this month. There has been a lot of work and preparation that has led up to this point, and there has not been anything that went to waste and was not put to good use leading up to the final presentation and thesis. It used to feel like this course would never come, and it seemed to be so far away when I first began and started the program. All I have to say is that this course by far was the most rewarding.
My original goal for the course was to complete my written thesis and provide a solid presentation that accurately reflected my work and displayed my passion for the healing work I do. These goals were met by working diligently throughout the program to allow me a solid and smooth transition into writing a well-written, detailed, and thorough thesis paper outlining my business model and plan moving forward. My presentation goal was already met when I was able to practice it through twice with my advisor, Dr. Paul. I felt confident and a sense of accomplishment for all the work I had and have done and completed throughout the course, and the feeling of success that overwhelmingly came over me when I was able to look at everything I have and had achieved, worked on, and created was and is indescribable. There truly are not words to describe and explain what it feels like to finish a program like this with a 4.0 GPA and a business model that shows and details my passions, goals, visions, aspirations, and dreams.
I have learned a lot from this course. One of the most important and memorable things from the course that I learned did not necessarily come from any of the material, but from what I gained within myself internally. I noticed how much I was allowing others to hold me back from what I was truly capable of and what I wanted not only for my professional business career moving forward but also for my life as well. I will apply the presentation skills I learned and practiced from this course to my future endeavors when I hold possible seminars to obtain new potential customers and clients. Public speaking is something that made me shy and nervous. Even though I initially have to overcome that fear and those feelings while presenting, this course has given and provided me with the practice to not experience those emotions and feelings as intensely as I once did.

So far so good on the book. I had some extra time to spare today anyway, so that worked out well. I suppose I'll take it day by day and see what I can do with it. This also includes reading out loud to my mom as she drives me to or from dance. That's the condition for being allowed to read in the car. Normally this isn't a thing, but my mom is a lit professor, so why am I not surprised when she asks me what I'm reading next and I tell her the name of a literary classic? The book is on my phone which comes in handy when it starts getting dark.
I'm strongly thinking about not volunteering on Friday at the mission, so I can get some extra rest, but that would mean no volunteering at all this week since I have a Girl Scout thing on Saturday (World Thinking Day) and due to President's Day on Monday, I didn't have the usual program at the library I volunteer with. It would only be three extra hours in my day, nearly four given the time to get there and get back home, but it's still time I could use to have a mental or creative break. It's not like there's a schedule of volunteers either. I show up and they put me to work, but they know I'm usually there on Fridays. I'll make a decision day of whether I'm going to take a break or not.
May or may not post tomorrow. Depends on the time. Adieu!🦄

Mastery Journal Entry
(Full Sail University – Entertainment Business Mastery Course on Publication and Distribution)
Original Goal for the Course: At the beginning of this course, my original Mastery goal was to deepen my understanding of publication and distribution in the entertainment industry. I aimed to learn how to effectively manage and distribute creative content, with a specific focus on publishing my book He Heard Me, a faith-filled coming-of-age story. Additionally, I wanted to develop a strategic framework for growing my business, Color Purpose Media, and apply these lessons to managing and distributing both creative content and services.
How the Goal Was Met: This course met my goal by providing key insights into the processes of publishing, distribution, and marketing, particularly in the context of both traditional and digital media. The course offered a comprehensive overview of the various stages involved in the publishing process, from securing a literary agent and crafting a compelling query letter to navigating distribution channels and building a robust audience. These elements are directly applicable to my work on He Heard Me as I prepare to seek a traditional publishing deal for the book.
Through case studies and assignments, I gained valuable tools for evaluating the best publishing and distribution strategies for my content. The course's focus on branding, marketing strategies, and social media outreach also aligns perfectly with my goals for Color Purpose Media and my plans to promote He Heard Me. I learned how to build a platform and audience ahead of a book's release, which will be crucial for generating early buzz and ensuring a successful launch.
What I Learned from the Course: One of the most impactful lessons I learned was the importance of understanding the different distribution models in publishing. Whether through traditional or self-publishing routes, each distribution channel has its strengths and challenges, and understanding these is crucial for making informed decisions about how to release my work. The course also emphasized the significance of marketing and promotion in the success of any published content, which is something I can directly apply to He Heard Me.
I also learned how to develop and implement a distribution plan that balances both physical and digital formats, ensuring that my content reaches a wide audience. The knowledge I gained about securing distribution deals, working with platforms like Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and leveraging social media to create momentum before the official launch is invaluable for my upcoming book release.
How I Will Apply the Material: Professionally, the insights from this course will help me navigate the publishing and distribution process for He Heard Me more effectively. From preparing my book proposal to securing a literary agent and understanding the distribution channels available to me, I now feel better equipped to make strategic decisions that will maximize the book's reach. Additionally, I plan to apply the marketing strategies I learned to build anticipation for He Heard Me in advance of its release, including through social media campaigns, content teasers, and partnerships with influencers.
For Color Purpose Media, the lessons on distribution and marketing will inform my approach to not only promoting my own creative projects but also managing client content. Understanding the intricacies of both traditional and digital distribution will be instrumental as I offer services to brands and talent looking to navigate similar challenges. The course has reinforced the importance of both planning and flexibility when it comes to managing creative content and ensuring it reaches the right audience at the right time.

Deborah's Full Sail Mastery Journal
Class: Writing for Interactive Media
I have gained several valuable insights throughout this course which will prove to be directly applicable to my work in the media marketing and public relations industry. First, I learned how to effectively appeal to a target audience that resonate and drive engagement. Understanding the distinctions of a target audience allows me to create messaging that speaks directly to their needs and interests, ultimately increasing engagement.
Second, I learned the importance of developing and adhering to a content schedule for websites and social media platforms, as consistency and strategic content distribution not only helps maintain visibility but also builds trust with an audience. A well-planned content calendar ensures alignment with broader marketing goals and sustains audience engagement.
Third, I learned how the proper story angle can shape, strengthen and provide clarity. In public relations and marketing, identifying the most compelling angle is key to gaining media coverage and capturing attention.
Lastly, the post for Week 3 Story 2 was my favorite post as all the previous lesson regarding developing a story, resources and interview came to life. This assignment taught me the value of thoroughly detailing sources, which builds credibility and integrity in storytelling. It also reinforced the importance of remaining committed to a chosen story angle throughout the narrative.
Overall, this class sharpened my skills and deepened my understanding of how to create strategic, credible, and engaging content that supports both marketing objectives and public relations efforts.
I have a better grasp on how a strategic approach to creating a story comes from understanding how to plan and distribute content in ways that maximize reach and engagement across platforms. This class also shed light on the fact that the engaging element concerning a story is in knowing how to present information in a way that resonates emotionally while still serving a clear purpose.

Journal Entry 37 - [CLASSIFIED TRANSMISSION — EYES ONLY]
Authority: The Crimson Throne Level 3 Clearance Required Timestamp: 2201.05.22 | Origin: Umbrion High Conclave Subject: Directive on the Yastun Proto-Civilization
“They do not yet look to the stars. That is why we must look for them.” — High Chaplain Rhest Volucine, Homily of the First Gate
To: All Divisional Overseers, Ecclesiarchs of the Silent Choir, and the Office of Planetary Affairs Re: Beht’Ukosis – Cultural Observation and Ethical Protocol
The discovery of the Yastun people on Beht’Ukosis presents both a sanctified opportunity and a theological dilemma. Though primitive, these beings have demonstrated fire mastery and rudimentary speech—embers of sentience waiting to be coaxed toward flame. Yet, no metal, no scripture, no signal. Their sky remains a mystery to them.
It shall not remain so.
Effective immediately, the Office of Orbital Sanctity is authorized to draft the architectural schema for an Observation Post in stationary orbit above Beht’Ukosis. This station, codenamed Watchtower Threnody, will operate under the following guidelines:
Directive 1: Non-Intervention Mandate No contact is to be made until sanctioned by the Hierophant Council. We will watch, we will listen—but we shall remain unseen. They must believe the stars are still silent.
Directive 2: Catalog and Codify Every gesture, every myth, every whispered prayer of the Yastun shall be recorded. They are a mirror of our earliest selves. Through them, we glimpse our genesis.
Directive 3: Liturgy of Patience Sister Aethyra has been assigned to Watchtower Threnody. Her sacred canticles shall accompany the observation cycles, maintaining spiritual vigilance and harmonic sanctity.
Directive 4: Prophetic Threshold If the Yastun breach orbital physics, demonstrate structured theological systems, or produce symbolic metallurgy, initiation protocols may be reviewed. Until then—they are to remain unknowing.
This is not conquest. This is guardianship of a lesser fire. Let no voice speak of domination. Let no hand reach out in haste. We are not gods. We are custodians of awakening.
May the Hollow Stars bear witness.
