Fun Fact
Kazakhstan’s Minister of Communications and Informatics has blocked the Tumblr site because it contained 60 sites of terrorism, extremism, and pornography in 2015.
oooo you've been painting/you're looking to get into painting? tell me more about it!
Oh, yeah!!!
I've seen so many of those cool acrylic paintings, and I am just in LOVE with the textures, like particularly the way the clouds and stuff look with the swirl-like pattern in the last painting I reblogged. I FINALLY looked up acrylic paint texture techniques (as in I JUST got back from watching YouTube videos on how to do cool textures in acrylic paintings lmfaoo) I learned I'm going to need a palette knife and some type of modeling paste, so that's a start!!!
I've taken a few painting classes with my uncle (by a few I mean 2 lmao), and we've been doing watercolors, which is nice, but the art I love is always acrylics, so I'm going to have to pivot I think.
And it's funny because literally last night he said he's trying to get into digital art and so he gifted me all of his watercolor stuff and now I want to do acrylics! Ah, well. I'll still be able to put the materials to good use I'm sure.
So, I'm not very well versed in painting, actually. This is pretty much the beginning of my journey, but I'm excited for it!
Are you much of a painter, Andrea? Or do you mostly stick to other types of artistic ventures like textile crafting and drawing? I know you sew and I know you've done (still do?) digital art. If you do paint, what's your favorite medium? If you don't paint you can disregard that question lmfaoooooooooo
AU where Katara & Toph both set up premier waterbending & earthbending academies in Republic City; the two schools are dedicated to teaching holistic, unified forms of their respective elements, bringing together previously disparate styles. Katara's school teaches Southern style, Northern style, & Foggy Swamp style waterbending, without any gender-based segregation between self-defense or healing classes (no, bloodbending wouldn't be taught because Katara don't like that shit). Toph's school teaches her personal seismic style of earthbending, metalbending, & more classical forms of earthbending. Katara's academy is on the coast of Yue Bay, in sight of both Aang's memorial statue & Air Temple Island; Toph's academy is far inland, to the east.
Rather than Toph, Suki is the one who establishes a police/security force. Suki's police academy could have a special program with Toph's, so you'd still get those cool metalbending officers. But the school prioritizes non-bending combat first & foremost. Ty Lee's chi-blocking technique is taught there as a required course.
With shaky hands he crushes the chunks of still-too-cold butter into the sugar, impatient for the taste of it. It’s a gift, his mom’s chocolate chip cookie recipe that has no recipe. He can’t write it down, it’s made of handfuls and feelings. It tastes just right. Tastes just like the memories of tall kitchen counters and the smell of cheap vanilla extract. Of the excitement of creation, and the sweet reward of the work.
His mom is still here, in the other room. But today he’s letting the grief creep in as he mashes a fork through the slowly melting butter. He knows he doesn’t have the memory like her, to keep this recipe alive. He knows he has no one to pass it down to, no one to teach by showing the handfuls and speaking the feelings. He knows there isn’t a lot of time before she can’t correct his mistakes with it anymore.
The words “pregame grief” pop into his head, and he laughs a little as he cracks the eggs. His whole life has been pregame grief, one batch of cookies at a time. He knew what the threat of death was when he was five, knew there was an inevitable end to the familiar. To the safe and comfort of old, green sweaters and chocolate chip cookies. Predictable as the sliver of eggshell that always makes its way into the dough.
Maybe it’s a gift. Learning early on that that one and only person could be gone at any moment. Maybe it steadies the hands when you get the news that the end is predictable, written down like everyone else’s recipes. Maybe it keeps you up at night, trying to find ways to re-write the measurements. Ways to avoid burning when you have to bake them. Trying to find ways to let it go, and let the science and time do their work.
But letting it go is hard. Measuring with your heart when your brain tells you that’s too many chocolate chips. Letting go says the whole bag, why not? Life is short. Life is short, but it’s coming together now and forming something cohesive. The wet and the dry. The whole bag of chips, she says from the other room. It’s a gift.
just need the person who sent me the kinktober idea of Bikini Barista Bucky twwwoooooo years ago that i think of him daily and still desire to finish that fic, it's such a killer fucking idea 🥵
question: how did you discover/get into scooby doo?
this is something i'm always so interested to hear, being that there are few people who don't have at least some small tie to the franchise. whether you would consider it one of your biggest current interests or it's just something nostalgic from your childhood, i'd love to know how you found scooby and what it means to you!
One thing about disco elysium is that I wish it let u feed ur guy. He’s really going thru it you know? He lost his memory, I’m forcing him to be TOTALLY sober and also to question the moral basis of his career. Everyone he talks to is either hates him cause he’s a cop (correctly) OR only respects him because he’s a cop (embarrassingly). I should be able to buy him a chocolate bar!!! there are random pills scattered around the streets but not a bag of crisps??? Why can I ask ppl for a cigarette but not order a sandwich from the hostel im staying in. WHERE is the apple of +1 health.
I have been silent on here for quite some time, mostly due in part to real life and other interests and even then — my muse for writing here has been all but dead and while this blog does hold sentimental value to me, as I have met many a great friends during my more active days — I think it’s time for me to say farewell and officially retire this blog.
I had a good run with Light, I had so much fun exploring and expanding on his character that so many people have come to appreciate him just because of their interactions with me that it filled me with immense joy and love. But all good things must come to an end.
So I want to thank you again to all those here and gone for making my time here wonderful — I shall remember you all fondly 💕
Yknow I think one of the saddest parts about Malorn being a professor is that his social circle in particular must have taken a hit. Idk if he had any homies before his promotion but with that Teacher and Student relationship having to be almost strictly professional, I can't imagine it would be smiled upon to have Malorn acting buddy buddy with some of his peers anymore. And like that's really sad that one of the many aspects of his childhood is essentially taken from him because he's in this awkward spot of mentally, physically, and emotionally at par with his students but has to be different than that in order to be their teacher
Like imagine how lonely that is bro. He can't be a kid with his students anymore but he's not an adult that can necessarily relate to other adults either so he's just in this separate space all by himself because there are no others like him (except The Wizard who has at least some similarities)
Thinking about how Malorn's former friends just slowly drifting away from him not because they hate him, but because they have to regard him as a teacher FIRST above all else is super sad and once again I'm crying for Malorn in the evening
I passed my exam and can finally show you what I've been working on!!!! 🥺🥺🥺
I drew sprites, backgrounds and interface for a visual novel called "The Black Night" based on my own setting.

Below you can see all the developments:
The plot revolves around a pair of detectives who arrive in the city to investigate mysterious disappearances according to the classics associated with an unknown cult that is trying to summon the Outer God to this world. Here are the main characters:
Constable Fabian Felt
Detective Saul Dreyfus
Inquisitor of the Congregation Mavro ar Sarada
Felt is the main character and a junior detective, young and purposeful, it is on his behalf that the player follows the plot. Dreyfus is his mentor and is not very willing to participate in the investigation, as he considers it a dead-end case, but later changes his mind. Mavro is a classic aristocratic bureaucrat who, despite his connections with the Congregation, does not look religious. He slows down the investigation in every possible way, oversees the detectives and has his own secrets, the disclosure of which should affect the further development of the plot ;)
here are some screenshots of the interface and backgrounds!
