Future Generations
Tumblr media
Since I'm currently busy, here's an updated version of my older Earth-15594 piece I did, with this universe's lineup of the Young Avengers and the Champions both gathered here.
Here's the current lineups of both teams.
Young Avengers:
Harley Keener/Iron Lad
Scott Summers/Cyclops
Elijah Bradley/Patriot
Kate Bishop/Hawkeye
J.O.N.A.S./Vision
Champions:
Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel
Vivian Vision
William Kaplan/Asgardian
Cassie Lang/Stinger
Hope you like it!

Okay but what if the Wiccan series and the search for Tommy is a prequel of sorts for the Young Avengers/Champions project and he meets some of them on his way. I mean, Kate and Kamala are already forming the team and live basically next door to him. America has the Kamar-Taj connection and has met his mom (+him from another reality). Riri is going to deal with the supernatural and Mephisto in her show. And Viv is probably going to be introduced in the Vision show and is his half-sister. That's a decent team. Add Cassie and Tommy and you've got yourself an epic lineup.
So yeah, I'm thinking the search for Tommy might set up their team-up.

They opened the MCU TV era with the Young Avengers. Billy and Tommy, then Eli, then Kid Loki, then Yelena, then Kate, then America (even if they did butcher her), then Kamala and Riri from the Champions, then Cassie as a teen (mid as her movie was as well).
But it’s like they’ve given up. The MCU is such a mess, it seems Marvel is shifting towards its 90s mentality—the Avengers are a C-list team at best, and Fantastic Four are the real headliners.
I’m as excited as anyone for Pedro to finally make me like Reed Richards, Matt Shakman (WandaVision) is directing and the movie looks great. From a marketing standpoint, it’s probably a smart move.
But honestly? I’m really sad they didn’t stick the landing.
I have some hope. Jac Schaeffer is still kicking around, Agatha All Along was really popular, Tommy is back officially, and Billy has essentially impenetrable plot armor now (even if they make him swap actors, he canonically can’t die/he’ll just keep body-swapping). Iron Heart looks like it will be really good. Though they decided not to stick with Kang (the Young Avengers’ first big bad in comics) as the MCU’s mainline villain because of Jonathan Majors, Doctor Doom was their antagonist in The Children’s Crusade—which was also a book that revolved around getting Wanda back.
But I worry they’ll cut their losses, and that sucks. YA is one of my favorite teams, certainly Marvel’s queerest, they have such potential, so many charming characters, and those cast thus far have mostly been fantastic. Their books are all about struggling with legacy—the very problem the MCU is steeped in now—and they could breathe fresh life into it while not cutting off these older characters.
Part of me thinks “keep Billy and Tommy’s names out of your mouths” after how bad Multiverse of Madness was. But I don’t want that wonderful little team to get forgotten. Fingers crossed.

@quetzal-animations i am a slave to the 3am art gremlin that demands i doodle whatever is on my mind.
What if...? >:)
Scrolling thro my files for inspiration and i have a screenshot of the champions jumper just sitting in my files lmao.
Tumblr media
I loved drawing that tail sjdfdjdkdhhjdhgs
Idk if the champions comics ever had merch or something, but i seriously want that jumper irl :C i would wear it 24/7.
The blue and yellow combo is my nemesis... it follows me everywhere and i have a love-hate relationship with those 2 colors together, used to hate it because of (insert very long backstory ramble here) but its grown on me overtime.
I even drew sagara wearing the champions jumper a few months back, and it looks so good on her!?

I try to avoid saying this again, but now I feel compelled: Please remember characters and ships often won't be interchangeable with the big screen or alternate versions. 616 Shuri and Riri shouldn't be classified as a romantic ship or 616 Riri embedded in mature posts.
"Shuriri" (Princess Shuri and Riri Williams) in the main comics (Earth-616) is platonic. The original version of Ironheart is 15-year-old Riri Williams. This has been said in even Wakanda Forever material and on Marvel's page.
616 Shuri is an adult well in her 20s and meant to read at least in her early 20s.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since 2022-2023, shippers tried to circulate it has been "canon" or more "food" in 616, citing their moniker in Ironheart Volume 1.
When, goodness no. Ironically, Shuri and Riri disliked the name "shuriri." 😂
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When using comic Riri images in your ship boards and smut headers... You can imagine the juxtaposition comicbook readers or Riri fans feel seeing it in the tags.
Note: Riri is a child protégé. Her comic ages are 12 to 15.
Her peers are Miles Morales, Ms Marvel, Viv Vision... All of which are clearly young teens in school.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shuri, on the other hand, was always a young adult. She even mentors younger generation heroes, like Ironheart and Moon Girl.
Shuri's youngest ages were 18 MCU-wise (now in her 20s) or 20 comics-wise (later resting in her 20s with a mind much older since Black Panther volume 6).
Letitia Wright's BP1 interview and Black Panther 1 and 2 scripts confirming Shuri's MCU age:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
616 Shuri is an adult figure. Even when she was called a "child" back then in much older volumes (where she was younger compared to now), she was in the same sentence confirmed 20:

Another aspect I find uncomfortable is how shippers (or fans in general) disregard the part where 616 Riri deals with trauma to the point of therapy and is on a healing journey. She only just recently feeling able to have friendships (and only friendships).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a big plot point in Ironheart volume 1, but overlooked for shipping or aesthetics...
Look, I get it. Some fans saw Riri and Shuri on the big screen, fell in love with the characters, and read their interactions with romantic lens. Although that wasn't Ryan Coogler's intention, alright.
People ship relating, chemistry-having characters with or without the canon's checkmark. It happens all the time. It's whatever. Atleast unlike the comics, MCU Riri is 19 (taking away half of the sting).
However:
The comics are not the MCU.
Characters have a story and life prior to the films or shipping based on the films.
Please respect and be conscious of that. Especially when sharing fan spaces with comic readers.

The explanation for why totk’s story is so Not Great and how disconnected from its predecessor it feels being that the devs didn’t want to alienate new players who didn’t know anything about botw’s story just falls apart the more I think about it. Nothing from this stupid half a plot works unless the player is familiar with specific details from the better games that came before it.
The believability of Link and Zelda’s connection to each other hinges on you knowing about the nuance of their relationship in botw. The ancient sages fighting with the champions’ arms and divine beast helms will only be impactful to botw/aoc players because totk doesn’t bother to explain the significance of that callback at all. Fi’s cameo is meaningless unless you either got every memory in botw or finished the master trial dlc (and know about her from skyward sword). You’ll only get the full context of Teba being sidelined in favour of a 12-year old if you played a specific chapter of Age of Calamity’s second DLC. Like sorry but I think Nintendo just made a bad story tbh

Kamala's motivation for being leader of her and Kate's currently unnamed team (all in good fun this team is made up of women who wouldn't fight about something like this.):
1. She's besties with Nick Fury the literal founder of the Avengers. She may or may not have stolen intel from him but he shouldn't have been negligent around her so his fault.
2. She's been to SPACE. Kate, America, Riri etc have not been to space (interdimension is diff).
3. She already has a reinforcement roster in the form of Kamran, Nakia, Bruno, Zoe and the Red Daggers that have faced the entire govt.
4. She created the team. She recruited the first member.
5. She also has an army of kittens who might be alien at her disposal.
6. Have you seen her combat skills?? 10/10
7. She's the ultimate fangirl which means she has endless knowledge of the Avengers missions so she's a master strategist.
8. She's the most emotionally stable lmao.

"Do not speak to me of sacrifice, Stephen Strange."
Tumblr media
After all this time, this line still bothers me. A lot. And I find myself wondering if it was simply the writer's outright ignorance of the canon suffering that Stephen repeatedly experienced protecting humanity from Dormammu and during his excruciating search for a way to defeat Thanos--or did Waldr🤢n actually know Stephen's history and decide it wasn't relevant to the script he was writing?
Either way, I'll never get over it. While remaining entirely skeptical of how Stephen will be treated in possible future projects.
