a while back i started making my own teen titans reboot after watching the show because i just wanted to for fun. and was planning to redesign them all and made some of their character arcs a little better and made gave them slightly different dynamics with each other n everything but i only got dick and raven done. ive drawn starfire’s but it’s uncolored

#rayman #artists on tumblr #these were made over the course of like two months or so #you can see that i was messing with his design a bit #kind of adjusting the way i drew him as i went along #uhhh anyways yeah i just think he's neat #he's fun to draw #its because he doesn't have limbs #drawing limbs is my least favorite part of drawing any humanoid character #so him not having any takes away a lot of the frustration i often have in drawing certain dynamic poses #he's also very cartoony which is up my alley. very expressive and fun #he has helped me push drawing exaggerated expressions more #he has good shapes!! its good character design!!!#and drawing him is comforting #i'll draw something else eventually but for now i'm just having fun #i have no idea how i'm going to format this post on twitter without it getting cropped to hell #i will worry about that later

Rendering practice. Cooler shades just happens to be easier for me to work with, that and I figured out how to do it in black and white first then play with layer filters.

This really allowed me to focus on shades rather than color, so getting in those extra details that I would've missed is refreshing.

Leif was also a good subject since I was already in the mood to draw bugs, he has a nice mixture of textures.

#That crystal tutorial I came across was very good. "Only in the darkest depths of fear can true courage shine" is obviously about Mob but I keep thinking about it in reference to Dimple's actions in Mogami arc. He was so scared! He started shaking like a leaf as soon as he recognized Mogami and he begged Mob & Reigen to leave, but he STILL faced Mogami head-on in Mob's body as a distraction and voluntarily entered Mogami's mindscape to get Mob out! The trust conversation hits even harder when you remember that this isn't an abstract danger they're up against; it's an entity that Dimple has very specific trauma about!

#mp100 #also. like.#when they see all the spirits in Mogamiland i think a lot about how #a) some of those are spirits that Dimple knows bc they were his former henchmen!#and b) he came so close to ending up as one of them himself!#the shared backstory is so. interesting.#and the fact that like. i don't think that dimple and his henchspirits were all buddy-buddy bffs #but just thinking about how in the past he did have companions #and Mogami killed them all #and how that ties in to how he worries about Mob & Reigen in this arc #'if you die we can be friends again down here' says local spirit who otherwise refuses to admit that he wants friends #anyway these tags are a mess but: *holds up dimple like a scruffed kitten*#i just think his deep-seated emotional issues are neat
