I Know I Felt Like This Before but Now I'm Feeling it Even More...
The final day in Seattle was fun even though I was EXHAUSTED! My feets were pretty sore from so much walking around, but it was my own fault for not wearing the best shoes, haha. The sky was so clear in the morning you could see the snow caps on the mountains. I took a couple of pics before we checked out of the Air BnB.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was a little rainy but that's to be expected in the PNW. We hoofed it over to Mighty O for some mad good doughnuts.
Tumblr media
We made our way down to the International District. I figured we could just wander around there for a while before the train (the station is in that area anyway). We stopped in a cute toy store along the way and I got a mood ring like it's the 90's up in here. Eventually we found the Seattle Pinball Museum. I really wish I'd taken more pictures there, it was really cool and fun. But here's a little video of the cutest little Elton John in one of the cabinets. If I ever were to find myself needing a pinball machine, I'd get this one.
We took a break from pinball and walked up to Loving Hut for lunch. It was okay... I really miss our LH here in Portland though.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Funny Bunny took these pics of me and you can see how tired I was, haha. I barely touched my Magikarp...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm pretty sure I was disassociating...
We went back to the pinball museum and played for a while longer before wandering around Kinokuniya inside the Uwajimaya. I wish ours had such a huge location! But the Beaverton one is super small and doesn't have very much stuff...
The train ride went by really fast and Al picked us up even though it was late when we arrived. But I'm glad we didn't have to walk and take the bus home! The Seattle visit was a lot of fun and I'd like to go back up again sometime soon. Maybe I can convince the girls to have a day trip or something.

Reading a lot of urban fantasy (etc) For Research Purposes, although also because I like the genre, BUT when you read a whole bunch in one gulp you do start to find a lot of lazy common tropes, so offered here without comment (ha ha of COURSE with comment):
1) relentlessly BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE. Where’s the surprise that they fall in instalove when she has purple eyes and “surprisingly full breasts for my slender frame”, and his chiselled abs seem to be his only defining feature? Apart from his mighty aubergine emoji. Sex is also great when you’re NOT attempting to force a bollard into a doughnut
2) the toxicity!! Women seriously find men attractive who call them “little one”, like they can’t be bothered to remember their name, and who basically badger them into sex? I have zero problem with Enemies To Lovers, but put some inventiveness into it. “I loathe you!” “And yet you will be mine, little one! I will kill every man who has ever touched you, possibly even your dentist!” Where’s everyone’s self-esteem? Oh right, the men have it all
3) please o merciful Fortuna, let me never again read a book in which “males” and “females” are the default descriptor, like we’re watching a documentary on fruit flies
4) I appreciate that it’s not necessary to always identify with the protagonist, but spare me a heroine who says Eww Boys and Ugh Kissing. We get it. Only his mighty aubergine emoji can reveal the true glories of yadda yadda yadda, penis vincit omnia
5) MATING BONDS. DESTINY WANTS US TO HAVE SEX AND WE ARE POWERLESS AGAINST IT. I had to go away and make some toast at this point to remind myself that there is simple goodness in this world
6) i may also have cleansed my head with six episodes of Girls 5 Eva, and some Chernobyl for balance
Footnote: ON THE PLUS SIDE, Heartbreak Incorporated by Alex de Campi gets five gold stars for foiling stereotype expectations, and Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo is the best dark academia I’ve read in ages

The Pre-Date
Tumblr media
Word Count: 3,679 Genre: Comedy, fluff
A/N: I usually don’t write a lot as I don’t have the time to do much of this. This blog is also just a blog for everything random that pertains to my interests and not a kpop or any kpop group specific blog. I won’t be receiving requests, but feel free to continue reading! This was inspired by a conversation between me and a fellow Atiny/Monbebe friend and with the help of my Dungeon Master boyfriend, who writes stories all the time for his Pathfinder campaigns.
E A R L Y . E V E N I N G
You come back home to your apartment and find that your roommate had gone out to pick up groceries from the note that was left on the kitchen counter. You laid down your belongings gently before jumping onto the wide sleeper sofa squealing and wriggling uncontrollably.
"AHH!" You hug the closest plush next to you. It happens to be your cat, who is not thrilled and meows in a worrisome high tone. "Ohmigosh! I'm so sorry, Koi!" You let her go before grabbing an actual pillow to squeeze it tight. I can't believe it, you thought. He asked me out! My freaking crush asked me out! Oh, my God, oh, my God, oh, my God! You continue to squeeze the poor pillow, rolling around like a dog in grass gleefully. "Ah, shit," you utter under your breath. You noticed the lipstick stain and mascara smeared on the sandy colored sofa.
N I G H T T I M E
As you wash your face hurriedly before bed, you remember how he asked you out in such a cute way. It was almost too unbearable that you could have made a fool of yourself in front of your crush.
// FLASHBACK // "Y/N!"
You whip your head around to see Seonghwa jogging towards you across the large courtyard on university campus. Maintain composure, you thought. "Hey, what's up, Seonghwa?"
He catches up to you, barely out of breath. To be expected by someone on the dance team. "Y/N, I-I I need to ask you something." He looks away. You think you might have seen a very slight pink undertone just then. You watch him fiddle with a silver engraved ring on his finger.
"Y/N, I..." he takes a deep breathe. "I-really-like-you-and-I-really-promise-to-take-care-of-you-will-you-go-out-with-me!"
Stunned, you unravel each word one by one and realizes that he likes you as well. No, wait. He just asked you out! You stood there, frozen, red in the face as Seonghwa eyes you in worry, his pink tones also becoming redder by the minute. Your scarf covers your mouth just enough to not show how much of your jaw just hit the ground. You slowly come back to reality as his eyes lowered, preparing for a rejecti —
"Yes."
His eyes snap back to look into yours. "What?"
"I said, yes, Seonghwa," you say calmly, trying with all the energy in the world to not quiver your voice with excitement.
"REALLY —" He coughs and clears his throat, changing his demeanor from an excited puppy to that of a cool cat. "I mean, really? You will?"
You nod. Eyes glued to his.
"How about tomorrow afternoon?" he proposes. "I'll take you out to a really nice place."
Again, you nod. "Yes. Let's do that."
// FLASHBACK END //
M O R N I N G
Knock knock knock knock knock.
The faint noise causes you to stir from your sleep. You feel around blindly for your phone, eventually finding it under the pillow you were just sleeping on. Your eyes adjust to the room as light leaks in through the sides of your sun blocking curtains. You squint at the phone bleary-eyed, immediately stunned by the loud light of your device. Through a sliver of what you can see, you turn the brightness down and look at your phone again.
- 9:47 AM -
"Ugh," you groaned. "I bet Sabrina forgot her damn keys again..."
Knock knock knock knock knock.
"Okay!" You shouted. "I'm coming! I'm coming!"
You looked for Sabrina's keys but it wasn't anywhere to be found, so to the door you walk, sleepily.
You lazily unlock the door. "Hey, girl, I can't seem to find your k —" You gasped.
Sabrina's usually neat long blonde locks was basically a bird's nest once you saw her, presumably from attempting to pull her hair out in stress. She storms into the apartment, mumbling to herself.
"I can't believe I walked all the way to the salon just to find I didn't even have my Goddamn keys on me," she hissed. "Again." She rummages through the sofa, with Koi running away from the steam coming from her human’s ears. She sighs exasperatingly.
"Was it not in your usual spot?" You ask, rubbing your eyes.
"No, it wasn't! You couldn't find it either?"
"No..."
You help your incredibly stressed out roommate to find the keys in her room, your room, the kitchen, and the living room. Nothing. Then, an unusual idea popped into your mind. You look at Koi. Then to her cat tree. Then back to her. She mewls innocently. You walk over to the tree, eyeing it suspiciously. You reach above, feeling around the top bed. Nothing. The two middle beds. Nothing either. Then at the bottom-most bed, all the way in the back, far beyond sight, you find the coveted silver treasure.
"I found them!" You exclaimed to Sabrina. "I found them in the cat tree!"
"Oh, thank effing goodness!" She sighs loudly in relief. She smooths her hair out while walking over to you. You drop the keys into her outstretched hand.
"Okay, leaving for real this time, Y/N." She walks to and opens the front door.
"Alright, have a good one," you say wearily, walking back towards your bedroom.
"You too. And — oh! Y/N."
You turn around.
"Have fun... with your date." She winks as she closes the door and locks it from the outside.
The date? You wondered. Oh! The DATE!
"I gotta get ready! WHAT TIME IS IT?"
- 10:23 AM -
You sigh in relief. "I have time."
"Mreoooww!" Koi meows at her disgustingly empty food bowl.
"Okay, okay, I'll feed you, Koi."
- 10:35 AM -
Knock knock knock knock knock.
The sound of unexpected knocking, again, nearly made you choke on your toothpaste. Did she forget something else this time, you thought. You walk out of the bathroom, still brushing your teeth. You open the door and —
"Good morning!"
"Good mor —?!" You stopped brushing your teeth and sees a casual yet stylish Seonghwa at the door, carrying some kind of brown paper bag. He beams at you.
You slam the door on him. He can't see me like this! OH, MY GOD, HE CAN'T SEE ME LIKE THIS! You open the door again. HE'S STILL THERE! You slam it. Then open it again. His smile still shining radiantly, with a touch of confusion. Your toothbrush falls out of your mouth. You would let it land on the floor if you didn't remember that it was an expensive electric toothbrush. "Oh, shit!" You try to catch it while it bounces from one hand to the other. When you finally got it, it happens to bounce off your hand once more and hit Seonghwa's chin, leaving a residue. He flinches a bit.
OH, GOD, NO, you internally scream. Not only is this happening right before the real date, but you're obviously not ready. Your bun is a crazy rat's nest, your over-sized off-white shirt with a pink bunny design is awkwardly resting on one side of your hip and the other, loose. Your permanently stained basketball shorts with elastic that has long since worn out reveals your yet to be shaven legs. You quickly eye him up and down before taking cover behind the door. "Damn, you didn't have to be this punctual," you mutter, looking away from him.
"Oh? I figured," he begins, looking down at the bag he is holding, "that you might want some breakfast with me?"
Breakfast? You look down at the bag as he reaches in and pulls out your favorite kind of twisted doughnut. Two of them, in fact.
"Just for you," he says shyly. You salivate at the sight of the treat you rarely get.
"But what about you?" you ask softly, looking back at him through your bangs.
"Don't worry, I've got some myself too!"
You sigh in defeat. "Well, you're already here. I'll just have let you in." You open the door slightly. Just as he was about to walk in, you stop. "But don't look at me!"
He tilts his head to the side like a puppy. Why are you looking at me like that? Stoooop! You hold your composure to keep yourself from melting and clear your throat. "Okay?" you reaffirm sternly.
He nods.
You open the entryway wider for him to enter, albeit a bit hesitantly since you are just now realizing the state of the living room. "Oh, uh," you stammer, looking at the disheveled sofa cushions. "My roommate — she couldn't find her keys so we looked for them." You laugh nervously while closing the door and locking it. You hurried over to the sofa to fix them up before offering a seat to Seonghwa. Respecting your wishes, he looks down at the floor.
"Do you mind if I eat a little of my breakfast while I wait for you to be ready?" he asks. His stomach growls a mighty one. He scratches the back of his head with embarrassment accompanied by a nervous chuckle.
You giggled. "Of course not! Please eat. I, uh -- it, uh, I'll go get ready, but it'll take a while. I-I'm sorry." Your stammering is getting the best of you as you make your way back to the bathroom. But wait.
"My toothbrush!" you gasped.
"Oh, I set it on the dining table for you," he says, pointing to the standing brush.
"Oh, thank you!" You grab it off the table, almost stopping in your tracks to ask how did he manage to catch it, but decided to push that off to the side. You walk back to the bathroom to do your morning routine.
S E O N G H W A . P O V
Sitting down on the sofa Y/N just fixed, he wiggles his silver ring off and sets it on the glass table in front of him to eat his handheld breakfast. He was starving as he got up very early to practice his choreography with his dance team. Wow, her new place looks nice, he thought. He looks at the collection of eclectic cool hues of artwork between yours and Sabrina's that tie the décor together. His wandering eyes became distracted when he felt something pressing up against his leg. He looks down.
"Oh, hi there!" he says sweetly and softly to the calico creature. Koi rubs her head into his shin aggressively. He puts his sandwich down onto the table and bends over to scratch her chin. Her purr fills the room before being drowned out by the rushing water of the shower being turned on. She snaps her head in the direction of the sound. Her eyes grow big and runs off from his hand while making a short trill. He chuckles as he motions to pick up his sandwich again from the table.
- 11:02 AM -
He balls up the wrapping paper and throws it into the empty paper bag. Y/N's twisted doughnuts were set aside on the table. He leans back on the sofa and takes out his phone from his pocket. He flips through his Engstagram feed until he realizes his finger felt odd. He looks away from his phone and thumbs the barren spot of his ring finger. He leans forward to grab the ring off the table when he notices it missing.
"Wh-whuh, what?!" He frantically whispers. He looks around the table, under, and around the sides. His eyes darts around the sofa. Did it get lost here? He feels around for the shiny cold object. He sticks his hands between the sofa cushions and felt some gross crumbs. "Eugh..." He straightens up again with a calm demeanor — just in case Y/N would come out anytime — as his own mind screams at him. How could you lose the ring, you giant idiot! The only thing you had! He scans the living area with one hand on his hip, exasperated. He sighs as he runs his fingers through his full yet luscious raven locks.
Thud.
He snaps his head over to see Koi on sitting on the woolly carpet, green orbs staring back at Seonghwa inquisitively. She slow blinks at him and busies herself by licking her paw. He plops down on the sofa, defeated, with head in his hands. He gives out a loud, long sigh as the sound of a door opening caught his attention.
Y / N . P O V
You come out of the bathroom, hair very loosely curled with light make up on. You roll up the sleeves of your sweater that has been tucked into your partially pleated skirt. You heard Seonghwa's loud sigh and was surprised to see an unusually startled look on his face.
"Eh? What's wrong?" You ask, as you walk over to chair in the dining area to secure your socks. At this point, he has seen you at your worst, so you're just slightly more relaxed in front of him.
"Ah, it's nothing!" says Seonghwa, waving his left hand dismissively with his right hand stuffed in his jacket pocket.
You notice his voice was just a tinge higher than normal. I mean, why would you notice such a thing? It's not like you listen to his voice every night.
Tumblr media
Your mind begins to stir up stories as to why he was acting strange. Did he hurt himself? Did he steal something from you? Was he looking at indecent things on his phone? No, his phone is on the table. But... wait... is he going to propose?! You couldn't bear the thought of any of that and shake your head vigorously. No, you dumdum! Why would he do that after just asking me out yesterday? You shut your eyes tight and open them again only for them to fall on a calm but with an edge Seonghwa. They narrow at the sight of him.
"Did you..." you begin slowly, "eat my twisted doughnuts?" You smirk.
"Oh!" he exclaimed. "No! They're right here!" He picks them up and briskly walks over to hand them to you. Single-handedly. Your eyebrow raises slightly as he doesn't usually like to give gifts away with one hand, but rather with both hands. Something is indeed amiss. You take the treat out of his hand slowly and decide to yourself that you will do some observational investigation. You look up at him, giving him a thankful smile. His eyes lit up when he sees your face up close and unguarded for the first time today. He blushes and smiles to himself as his eyes fell to the floor, out of shyness.
You sit down in the chair you used earlier to balance yourself while adjusting your socks. The familiar crinkling sound of the wax paper from your favorite bakery makes its way to your ears and instantly, you're hit with nostalgia. You bring up the cinnamon sugar delight to your mouth and take a bite, savoring the taste, with eyes closed. It's been years since you were able to have one of these again. You weren't able to go to the bakery anymore since you moved closer to your university and it was on the other side of the river near your parents' house. Unfortunately, the only transportation you have is your bike.
Your memory lane train derailed when you heard a soft chuckle. You open one eye to look at him. Your cheeks were ballooned with food since you didn't realize you practically inhaled the whole thing.
"Hmmf? Ith thumthing hwunny?" you ask, with mock annoyance.
"You look so cute with your cheeks like that," he points, smiling. "You're like a chipmunk!"
You cross your arms and pout while chewing slowly and carefully. He giggles again and pokes your cheek gently.
"Hmph!" You turned slightly away from him, eyes closed with nose in the air. You continue chewing and swallowing little by little. You covertly open your eye closest to him and see him trying to scan around your living area. He's looking for something. But what? You decided to use the process of elimination.
"Seonghwa," you say flatly.
He snaps his head back to you. Smiling, he replies, "Yes?"
"Are you looking to steal from me?"
"What?!"
"You've been acting strange since I've come out all ready and stuff."
He pauses for a moment, seemingly lost in thought before his eyes meet yours. The lengthy eye contact seems to stretch on for an eternity, growing more and more intense as he brings his face closer to yours. You feel the heat rush in your face along with a tinge of embarrassment since your chipmunk cheeks aren't completely gone yet.
"Yes, I've come to steal from you."
"What the f —!"
"I've come to steal your most precious treasure."
You look at him, befuddled.
"Your..." he points at your chest, whispering, "Heart."
You blankly stare at him. The eternal eye contact returns once again in awkward silence, until he threw his head back in laughter. The look of annoyance spreads across your face as you finally chew and swallow the last bit of doughnut left. You facepalm — while avoiding your eye make up — and stretch your eyes downward as you drag your hand in disgust.
"Ugh!" you groaned. "What the hell was that?!"
Seonghwa continues to laugh heartily. You see him clutching his stomach and leaning so far back in his chair, you almost didn't notice him about to tip over backwards. You frantically get up from your seat and scurry over to him, but it was too late. As he falls, his center of gravity was too low for you to have enough leverage, thus you falling along with him. Your arm is stuck between the floor and his back.
"Are you okay?!" You look down at him only to realize how close his face was to yours once again. Actually, even closer. He looks up at you with a soft gaze that could melt your all worries away. The apartment around you fades and all you see is the two of you. He lifts his arm up next to your head and gently tucks your soft locks behind your ear. His gaze lowers to your lips, then back to your eyes again. You're lost in the world that which his eyes held, slowly leaning in closer to —
"OOF!" A creature has landed on your back and pushed herself off to jump onto the table, which causes you to fall sideways onto the cold tile floor. You turn around to see Koi casually sniffing the wrap the uneaten doughnut is in, turning her head to look at you, slow blinks, then walks away, with tail high in the air. You roll onto your back, feeling a little dizzy, but somewhat defeated.
"You alright?" Seonghwa asks softly next to you.
"Y-yeah... I'm okay." You turn your face away from him to hide your red cheeks when you see something glinting in the shadow at the base of the cat tree. You tilt your head against the hard floor. Ow, that was a bad idea. You rub the slightly sore spot with your free hand. You gently tug your arm underneath Seonghwa and feel the weight being lift off your almost numb limb as you pull away. You get up carefully due to your skirt and walk over to the cat tree. You kneel down in front of it and feel inside the bottom-most bed. A slick yet cold texture grazed your skin. You went over the same area to feel it again and curl your fingers around it to pull it out. You open your hand and wondered, how did this get here? Seonghwa looks at your hand holding the ring and gasps. "It was there?! It was in there?! How—why—"
"Koi is like a magpie," you say while inspecting and cleaning the ring, "she likes to steal shiny things, particularly silver looking items."
You get up from the kneeling position you were in and walk over to him. With the ring in between your index finger and thumb, you place into the palm of his outstretched hand.
"Honestly," you chuckled, "I'm surprised you haven't managed to lose this in a year or so."
"It was..."He blushes. "It's because I've liked you for such a long time and this was the first and only gift you had given me."
"Oh!" You feel your cheeks heat up. "Well, I had given you other gifts too since then!" you pout.
He laughs as you walk over to the entry way to put on your chunky sole shoes. "Yes, but this is the only thing that isn't edible."
"Ha, well, you were practicing so hard, you needed to eat 24/7!" You finished tying up the laces on your shoes. You get up and grab your mini backpack off the sofa, along with your keys. "Let's go."
"Wait!"
You halt and turn to look at him. "Did you lose something else too?" you mused.
He slowly walks over to you and holds your shoulders. He scans over you and stops at your eyes, holding your gaze long enough that your cheeks begin to feel hot again. You’ve been blushing a lot today.
"I've always wanted to say," he begins softly. He leans in to your ear. "You look so beautiful."
Your whole being starts to feel like it's melting upon hearing those sincere words. Even after a couple of years of knowing him, hearing it like this from him, it felt like utopia.
"H-h-haaa, um, look, I swear if it's one of your cringy jokes again," you protest to protect yourself from completely dying. "C'mon, let's go!" You lock arms with him and drag him out of the apartment.
B O N U S × K O I . P O V
Sitting on top of the cat tree, she watches Y/N and that strange man leave, locking the door behind them. She hops down to the floor and makes her way into the kitchen. On her way, she finds a silver hair clip left behind on the floor where her human was just laying. She picks it up by the mouth and continues on. She jumps up on the kitchen counter and to the top of the fridge. She lays her newly acquired precious silver on a small mound of other miscellaneous silver objects. She trills in satisfaction.

Pao, Mighty O's and New Shop Reviewed
I tasted doughnut after doughnut until I finally made it down 6th Street at the time of day Pao was open.
It was a glazed doughnut. I tried to hide my anticipation with all the excitement I felt. It seemed to take much too long for me to pull away from the drive thru window and around the corner.
In the middle of some residential street nearby, I decided to set my vehicle in park just to take a bite. Luscious, yummy, melt in my mouth glaze, puffy, soft and delicious doughnut, the one that made me feel better for that New York all the way to Washington trek. Yes, a mouthful needs that many adjectives and commas.
Taste is something that can take you anywhere. Pao took me back to Kansas. Yes, the Kansas City Lamar’s standard measured the greatness of this doughnut. If each makers’ glazed doughnuts were placed before me, I’d consider biting into both of them at the same time.
Ok. Pao’s is the best doughnut I have tried so far in the Greater Seattle Area.
Although theirs was named best doughnut, thus far, Pao’s had competition.
Mighty O’s gave Pao a run for the winning spot on this list. There’s a little sign at the entrance of the shop with an inclusive message.  A+. I appreciate businesses taking visual steps in social responsibility. One day, we won’t need those messages.
The location is also superb. Here, I could complain about Seattle parking, but I found a space around the block easily enough – still paid parking. Ah, but the simple joys must burn off somehow.
This doughnut’s flavor tasted of test kitchen. The reason I would rank this doughnut shop second on this list is the chocolate frosting. You can taste the quality of ingredients and that quality shows in the price. Still, I felt it was priced too high. But I do take into consideration the vulnerable farmers involved in the farm to service process.
Elephante Angry
Hold up, readers usually high horse it when it comes to my saying anything about ethical sourcing. To set things straight, de Lignes are cousin to the infamous Marie Antoinette for sure, but trying doughnuts isn't quite the level of telling starving citizens to "eat cake".  I'm well aware if you don't have flour you can't make bread, cake, doughnuts etc. My plan to end hunger extends food benefits and makes it easier for businesses to accept those benefits.
Back to reviewing...
Prior to trying love’s first bite and after Mighty O's, I was on the lookout for a better doughnut, as promised.  Spotting a little white elephant while making my way down 23rd Street in Seattle, I felt drawn to the shade of purple paint that coats the building of Raised Doughnuts. It took me a minute to wrap my head around why on earth “Raised” was included in the name. I chose to stop in.
A very cool space that redefines “doughnut shop”, the Elephante felt at home and I took in the genuine aura.  The owner/operator was happy to recommend Raised Doughnuts’ most popular selling item, raspberry covered doughnut holes. I agreed to her suggestion and decided on adding a mochi doughnut to my order.
Bad news first…
I am not a fan of mochi. I’ve sank my teeth into many a variation, of those unhappy experiences, ice cream mochi was the only type I didn’t gag on. But bravely, I tried again. I’d much rather be saying I found a new food that didn’t make me angry, but that’s not the case.
Here is how it went. I took a bite of the mochi doughnut. I couldn’t chew. Half an hour later, I revisited the doughnut after walking my dog. I tried another bite, which I regretted instantly.
The raspberry doughnut holes were good, however. Pricy for doughnut holes, but the uncommon raspberry dusting probably accounts for the price. They are an airy density that pairs better with champagne than coffee.
Pao's hit the spot and satisfied that necessary ache for perfect doughnut taking the Elephante home. My next craving, piroshky.

Cookie Run Ovenbreak Affection Lines Masterpost!
I decided to compile the cookies’ affection lines! Or, well, as many as i could. This list is missing all lines from Pomegranate, Cheesecake, Mint Choco, and Space Doughnut due to me not having them; almost all gift lines; and the chat lines from multiple cookies due to not having  the proper friends statuses yet, but I’ll update this w the lines as i gain more affection points!
(if you have any of lines I’m missing, feel free to let me kno what they r so I can add em to this masterpost! thank you! ^^)
[Google docs version of this here!! Easier to read this on there, imo!!]

I admit I felt something mighty big the last time Link was shown to feel conflicted about his situation. The only thing he could think of was a smiling Allen sharing a doughnut with him. Aw, those 2 spent all their time together 24/7 for months and now they're so far apart. Allen's definitely not the only one who got deeply attached. Makes me feel so much for these traumatized knuckleheads. I hope they get some good moments together at some point (Based on Zhu's incomplete sentence and Lev's -
2 desire to control humanity's fate. I bet Leverrier plans on somehow making Link Nea's new vessel so he doesn't have to worry about Allen's defiance. As far as Lev is concerned Link will be happy to do anything for him. Which means BIG conflict no matter what since Allen is going to protect Nea and try to keep Link safe from his own fate of disappearing).
Oh yeah!! mood mood mood!!
Also i’ve checked a bit and I think (?) the donut eating scene was also supposed to be the one right before the Paris arc kickstart where Allen listens to Cross’s last word/recording and says that he will walk his own path. Link was there during that scene and in that scene we see Allen with a donut in his mouth and it seems they were shared with Links. So it could be likely Link also remembers the conversation that went with the Donut sharing, but th efact he thinks about it specifically in a picture of Allen being smiling (despite a hard time), enjoying a donut and sharing it with him, show also that what he would get from this scene is that Allen is sweet and kind and he wants to believe in him.
And that’s ADORABLE and yeah you’re very right they have spent so much time together and we’ve seen how Allen ended up enjoying it to some extend (with how easily he opened up about Mana around Link, even if he teased that was because Link was now part of the fournitures for him - he’s amazing and poor Link ahah) but it’s so sweet for Link to have it... trescend duty while he’s such a duty inclined person.
And wow for your theory this would be very creepy :O but i wouldn’t leave it past Lveille.... He isn’t exactly the kind to bet on something he doesn’t have a sort of control on. Look at the Third project, he had to inject it to Alma in a coma to be sure everything will be safe. He wouldn’t especially rely on something he has no idea how to control.
Even if it is creepy as hell and part of the dynamic that was imposed on Link all along and this undying loyalty, Lveille believes in Link, he has faith in him, he believes Link is his one ally that will never turn against him, that will always do what he asks. So him asking for this specific sceario wouldn’t be too far fetched to me: it would be the best way for Lveille to try to harnest the 14th in his control.
And yeah if that’s really his plan, I think it will make Allen furious already ahah and yeah Allen would fight already agaisnt the 14th but now also for Link’s sake without second guessing. What I think too though is that Link wouldn’t be too pleased with this on the long  run as an idea. He has lost people he loved because they accepted the dark matter inside of them as a weapon Lveille came to establish. Now that he also sees specifically how the 14th is taking over Allen I do think he might be more warry about it.
It would be.. a mess all around orz but it’s a good mess. I’m soo glad the direction Link’s character is going through. It’s so refreshing!

According to Thomas Fuller, the devil lies brooding in the miser’s chest. Rod Stewart said that a person has to have a burning desire in the chest to succeed. And then there’s Erma Bombeck, who quipped, “What’s with you men? Would hair stop growing on your chest if you asked directions somewhere?”
An overweight man or out-of-shape bodybuilder might have pecs that move and look like flabby breasts. A female stevedore or competitive swimmer might develop a muscular torso that appears more masculine than feminine.
In several areas of this post I created separate headings for chests and breasts. However, you might prefer to apply words differently, sometimes for comedic effect.
When considering descriptors, pay attention to opinion adjectives and how they affect point of view.
Emotion Beats
Before reviewing the following beats, note that he crossed his arms across his chest can be shortened to he crossed his arms.
Many readers will associate a puffed-out chest with aggression or arrogance, but they might not see a clear association with delight or determination. Ensure suitable context for vague emotion beats.
Aggression Puffed-out chest
Aggrievement, distress Shoulders slumped inward over chest Chest, neck, and face flush and feel hot
Agitation, nervousness Clutching papers against chest
Amazement Holding a hand against chest
Anger Thrusting chest forward, fists propped on hips
Anticipation Holding a hand against chest
Anxiety Tightness in the chest

Scents
Exposure to many substances will cause a person’s chest to retain the aroma, often affecting first impressions.
If a woman, who has referred to herself as a “single virgin” in a matchmaking app, arrives with the smells of baby powder and spit-up emanating from her cleavage, her prospective date might suspect she isn’t telling the truth. A CEO whose chest smells like wet dog might trigger a sneezing fit and subsequent avoidance by a prospective investor.

Nouns, Both Chests and Breasts
N to T Nipples, pecs, pectorals, thorax
Refer to the next two sections as well for suitable nouns.
Nouns, Chests Only
You might (usually in poetry or older works) find breast used as a replacement for chest, as in: He beat upon his breast.
Compared to the plethora of slang and vulgar terms coined by authors for breast(s), I discovered a dearth of similar words for chest. Prompt for an opinion editorial, perhaps?
B to T Breast, Chewbacca sweater, gorilla torso, lung carpet, man boobs, manpelt, manssier-stuffer, muscleini, rib cage, thorax, torso, trunk
Find more words by googling slang terms for chest.
Nouns, Breasts Only
If your character is an uncouth jerk, you might be able to get away with using some of the rude words of this section in dialogue. Otherwise, you’ll invite the ire of readers. As Shakespeare’s Falstaff said, “Discretion is the better part of valor.”
If you need more offensive words, google derogatory terms for breasts or offensive names for breasts.
B to F Bazookas, boobs, bosom, bra stuffers, breast-o-raunts, bust, buzzums, casabas, chesticles, chi-chis, cleavage, Daddy’s playground, double-Ds, flotation devices

Fun at the Fair: Eating My Way Through the Iowa State Fair
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It finally happened: My first state fair! And not just any state fair. It was the mighty Iowa State Fair, the single largest event of the Hawkeye State. While most states have their own fair each year, Iowa is usually ranked among the finest of the nation. Notorious for its high-calorie food and famous for its iconic butter cow, the Iowa State Fair has been serving the Midwest since 1886, making it one of America’s oldest state fairs. Running strong for 11 days, the state fair is also one of the nation’s largest with over one million visitors in 2021.
The history of American state fairs starts in 1841 with New York State Fair, the first one of its kind. With a mission to promote farming and agriculture, the state fairs offer visitors a chance to experience competitive exhibitions of livestock and farm products. However, state fairs have expanded to include midways, industrial wonders, car racing, live music, and much more.
The first fair day was a bit overwhelming, reminding me a bit of my first Roskilde Festival back home with all of its many impressions – there’s just so much to do! Where to start, I wondered. But let’s start with the food, as one cannot tell the story of the Iowa State Fair without telling stories of all the wonderful food vendors offering some of the most interesting and tastiest food you’ll find anywhere in the nation.
Welcome to the high-cholesterol world of Midwestern state fairs: With over 200 vendors, more than 60 foods on-a-stick and 53 kinds of new food, I found plenty of variety for my taste. As Iowa is America’s number one pork producing state, I dutifully ordered a pork chop on stick as my first state fair meal. I decided to try all the finalists for this year’s best new fair food contest, which included three innovative masterpieces: 1) The Pork Picnic in a Cup – a cup filled with layers of BBQ pulled pork, baked beans, creamy coleslaw, garnished with brown sugar pork belly, 2) The Finisher – an extra-large russet potato, layered with chopped brisket, smoked pulled pork and bacon brisket mac ‘n’ cheese, 3) The OMG Chicken Sandwich, a chicken breast that is lightly battered and covered in sugar coated corn flakes fried to golden brown and served on a glazed doughnut, topped with bacon, and drizzled with syrup.
Easy to handle and best in taste, my favorite was definitely the pork picnic in a cup. But I also tried some other uniquely American food items such as a deep-fried Twinkies, funnel cake, bacon pecan pie, chicken ‘n’ waffle on a stick, and a puff sundae topped with a giant marshmallow and hot fudge. None is to be found at the top of the food pyramid, but it’s fried food season, so what can you do?
Besides food, a lot of events takes place at the state fair. Competitions, ranging from identifying lawn weeds to cornhole tournament, takes place across the 11 days. As an agricultural state, Iowans also take a lot of pride in their impressive livestock animals. I happened to see some really big animals along my way as I visited all the different animal barns: Swine Barn, Sheep Barn, Horse Barn, Cattle Barn – you name it. This included Pee-Wee the Boar (1,300 pounds) and Albert the Bull (3,042 pounds), who eats almost 100 pounds of feed and drinks about 20 gallons of water a day.
Some of these barns are really remarkable. Take the Swine Barn for an example. It houses 1,100 swine pens, plus seating for 800 persons in its more than four acres of covered space. Furthermore, I experienced an Elvis tribute, tried to milk a cow for the first time, and watched an airbrush demonstration, just to name a few other activities. For the thrill seeker, there’s also carnival rides, however I didn’t want to lose my many meals, so I saved them for another time. The fair also offers a lot of musical entertainment, such as Demi Lovato, Alanis Morissette, Carrie Underwood, but also smaller musicians play for free around the fairgrounds during the day. My favorite was a ukulele group, who played a brilliant version of John Denver’s ‘Country Roads.’
Actually, I also found pleasure in just fairing around, enjoying peoplewatching and being happy about some kind of normalcy since the covid-19 pandemic changed our way of life. This was also how I randomly ran into U.S. senator, Chuck Grassley of Iowa. Having held his seat since 1981, Grassley, a Republican, is an institution in Iowa politics.
Something that really captured my attention was the old farm equipment. As mentioned in an earlier blogpost, I am developing a fascination of tractors, especially the older John Deere models. However, as a fairgoer, you can also witness some pretty remarkable newer farm equipment. To me, some of the stuff looked more like something NASA astronauts would use rather than heartland farmers. Also, it’s just a top-notch transition between the past, present, and future of farming equipment when you stroll around the exhibitions.
Weighing around 600 pounds and standing 5 feet tall, one of the biggest highlights was the holy butter cow in all of her glory. The first butter cow sculpture to appear at a state fair was displayed at the Ohio State Fair in 1903. In Iowa, the butter cow tradition dates back to 1911, when a person named John K. Daniels made the first one. Since then, several different artists have sculpted the Iowa State Fair butter cow. The first female and longest reigning butter cow creator was Norma “The Butter Cow Lady” Lyon. She started in 1960 and continued for more than four decades. During this period, she expanded to creating a variety of butter beauties such as Elvis Presley, John Wayne, and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. In 2006, after 15 years of apprenticing with Duffy, Sarah Pratt, a fellow Iowan sculpture, became the Fair's fifth butter sculptor. And here’s just some funny trivia: A butter cow would butter about 19,200 slices of toast and take an average person two lifetimes to consume, according to the Iowa State Fair’s website.
Anyway, as I stood watching people riding the sky gliders while enjoying my double dipped footlong corndog, I realized what an amazing event the Iowa State Fair is. It feels like I have passed a rite of passage in my Midwestern experience.
Best from Anders Tornsø Jørgensen

Painting A Memory
Hello everyone~ today’s story was an ask by a lovely anon, who wanted to see a Luca x Amelia fic. I’m sorry that it took a little while to upload, but I do hope you enjoy it anon!
Amelia has been waiting for the day when she and Luca could spend some time together on their first date. However when thing leads to another, she begins to wonder if it’ll ever come to pass.
The early morning rays of sunlight mixed with the ringing of an alarm clock, was more than enough to wake Amelia up from her peaceful slumber. Her eyes were still heavy as she began blinking a few times, while attempting to get up from the cozy embrace of bed.
Of course, after a few failed attempts, Amelia had finally found the strength to throw the covers off her body, exposing her skin to the chilly air in the room, while she pushed herself up. Sitting on the edge of her bed, she reached over and hit the alarm clock off, before rubbing at her eyes softly.
Looking right ahead, she saw that her roommate, Nadia, was still fast asleep and in her own little dream world. Giving a soft giggle, Amelia got up off of the bed completely and went over to the dresser, picking out her uniform so that she could start the day.
Quickly showering and then putting on her uniform, Amelia looked in the mirror as she was now applying some of her favorite pink lip gloss, that was given to her by her boyfriend, Luca. The lip gloss also came with matching perfume and body wash set, which included bubble bath.
Amelia had eyed the collection the last time the academy held a field day, and as it turns out, Luca had kept tabs on quite a few things that she had wanted to get, but couldn't at the time. Having applied the lip gloss, she took a look in the mirror, the color was soft and simple, but gave her lips a certain pop which she absolutely loved and couldn't get enough of, plus as an added bonus, it smelled like strawberries.
After having gotten everything ready, she headed out of the bathroom, where her roommate was still in bed, her soft snores could be hear from under the covers as she slept. Putting her hands on her hips, Amelia shook her head softly while smiling and proceeded to walk over to the bed where Nadia still slept.
"Rise and shine Nadia, you'll be late to class if you don't hurry up and get ready." while speaking, Amelia had begun rocking Nadia's shoulders a little, hoping to get some sort of response out of her. Of course, she had gotten her answer moments later, when Nadia groaned softly and kicked the blankets off of herself.
"Is it Saturday yet?"
"No, it's Monday, why do you ask?"
"Because I am sooo ready for the weekend."
"Ohhh, right, you mean the days where all you do is sleep, eat and sleep again?"
"Hey! I do more than just sleep and eat!" "That's right, you go and read sometimes too!"
"Amelia!"
Grabbing the nearby pillow, Nadia threw it at Amelia, hitting her right in the face, this in turn caused Amelia to grab her own pillow and start whacking Nadia. The two of them had started a pillow fight which had ended with a few feathers flying through the air and a fit full of giggles. Most of their mornings started out like this, waking each other up and then somehow leaving their room laughing. The two of them had left their dorm and were now making their way towards the dining hall, for once in a great while the two of them were up early enough to grab something to eat. Normally, Amelia would wake quite early and would have an abundance of time before needing to head to class, time, which could be used to grab a quick bite in the morning. However, she refused to leave Nadia alone and eat without her.
At other times, when Amelia knew that the two of them would wouldn't be able to make it to the hall, she'd slip out of their dorm room and hurriedly grab a few breakfast items for the both of them, while Nadia was still getting ready. She always loved Nadia's face when she reached into her bag and noticed an orange or even a muffin, plus a small juice box, her eyes would widen in surprise and would always ask how on earth those things got in there.
It was a mystery that Amelia had loved to keep, just so she could see her roommate's reactions. Perhaps she would tell her someday that it was her all along, or maybe...she wouldn't. Once they made it to the dining hall, Amelia began eyeing one of the newest breakfast items.
"Oh my gosh! Nadia, look! They have doughnuts!"
"No way, are you serious?!"
With eyes shimmering like those of a kid in a candy store, the two of them each picked out a doughnut. Amelia had picked out a custard one with pink frosting and a vibrant array of sprinkles on top. Nadia on the other had, had opted for a chocolate filled doughnut with chocolate icing and mint sprinkles on top.
"These look absolutely delicious!"
"I know right? I wonder if I should get another one?"
"Huh? Why?"
"Well, if we got doughnuts, than that means the boy dorm got doughnuts too, right?"
"Hmm, I would assume they did as well."
"Well, I wonder if there's any left for Klaus and the others, since Randy is there." At Nadia's comment, the both of them broke out into another fit of laughter.
"Na...Nadia, can you imagine..pfft..Ra-Randy coming and his cloak filled to the brim with them?" trying to catch her breath from laughing Amelia, looked at her best friend, only to see and hear her wheezing with laughter.
"O-or he stuffs his mouth with them, to the point where he looks like Ronny with his acorns!"
"pfft!"
"Hahahaha!"
Their efforts in trying to stop their laughter proved to be very futile, as they may their way down the line, the two of them had each grabbed a water bottle, Amelia grabbed an extra one, and stuffed in her bag. Looking at the large grandfather clock on the right corner of the room, she took note that they had a good fifteen minutes before they would need to leave for class.
Not many people were in the dining hall when they took their seats, which was good. Only the soft chatter among the handful of other girls could be heard within the dining hall, which hadn't included Nadia or Amelia, as they had, for a majority of the time, sat and ate their doughnuts in silence. Only the occasional hums of delight could be heard from the two of them as they had happily enjoyed their now new favorite breakfast item.
"I swear, this has got to be our new Monday routine!"
"What do you mean?"
"I mean waking up and coming down to get some doughnuts for breakfast, I swear, these doughnuts are bringing happiness to the Monday blues!"
"Pfft, but Nadia, I thought that was Klaus' job" Amelia watched in delight as her teasing had resulted in a big bright blush forming on Nadia's cheeks. "Amelia! Stooop!"
"Hahaha! Never!" grabbing her bag, Amelia quickly got up and started running towards the door, making her way outside, she heard a shout from behind her and looked back to see Nadia chasing after her with a smile on her face. However, their fun stopped after Nadia had ran directly into Klaus, almost knocking him over.
Klaus had immediately shouted at her which had made her jump a little at surprise of his booming voice. He then helped her get up off the ground and told her she was going to be excused for a part of the class.Amelia already knew that Nadia was in for one heck of a lecture, especially when she saw her best friend let out a sigh and slump her shoulders before being dragged off by the mighty emperor, leaving Amelia all alone.
This time it was her turn to sigh, she didn't really have anyone to walk to class too, Guy usually showed up right before the bell rang, but most of the time he ended up being late, which resulted in supplementary classes in his case and that was one risk, that Amelia wasn't willing to take. She wished her boyfriend would go to class more often, she would love to walk with him, she could already imagine his cheeky smile and the warmth of his hand in hers.
"Y'know, that face your making doesn't suit you, all sad looking and such."
"L-Luca?! W-when did you get here?"
"The moment you started making that face, did something happen?"
"W-wha? No, everything is fine! I was just thinking about stuff."
"Oh, you mean like holding my hand, by chance?" with a cunning grin, Luca had taken hold of Amelia's hand and gave it a soft squeeze.
"Listen Luca, I can't skip class with you."
"Skip? I'm actually going to class today. Did you really think I was going to skip? Ouch, that hurts y'know."
"You always skip, so it's hard to tell when you'll actually go to class and when you won't. But I have to ask, what's the occasion for you wanting to go to class?"
"I wanted to spend lunch with you today, it seems like it'll be a beautiful day to have lunch with another, right?"
Her heart fluttered at his statement, she and Luca never really had a chance to spend time together, let alone spend lunch together! Most of the time they would write magic notes back and forth or use the magic phone to keep in touch when they weren't able to see each other face to face.
"I would absolutely love to have Lunch with you!"
"Good to hear, in fact, so good, that I asked one of the housemother's to help me prepare our own little lunch."
"Wait...you can cook?"
"I can when I want to."
"I didn't know that!"
"Wow, then there's a lot you have to learn about me, I guess we can talk about those things at lunch today, yeah?"
"Absolutely! Oh I can hardly wait!"
"Hahaha, now there's that smile I love so much." leaning, down, Luca pressed his lips against Amelia's, not caring one bit about the display of their affection in an open, public place.
The two of them now walked towards their classes, hand in hand, while talking the entire way. They had walked slowly for a good amount of time, talking and just wanting to be with one another, however, they knew that if they continued at this pace, then they would both be late for their classes. Luca could care less about being late or not, but Amelia on the other hand couldn't afford to be late.
They hastily made their way inside of the building and up the stairs, where they had to part ways.
Amelia was hesitant to let go of his hand at first, but she knew that she'd see him again in a few hours. That thought alone had brought a smile to her face and  her mind now had thoughts of how the rest of the day would play out. She wished the thoughts could have gone on, but the moment that professor Schuyler stepped into the room, her thoughts and happiness for the day were beginning to crumble.
Even though today's classes were one of her favorite's, she knew that it would become a struggle because of Schuyler. It used to not be that way, but for some odd reason, ever since the day she and Luca started dating, was the day that Schuyler had began to get more strict with her. She never understoood why, maybe he didn't want to see the two of them together? It just never made sense. Class seemed to drag on for an eternity, thankfully it was almost over and soon she would be free to go to lunch, which had been plaguing her mind during a majority of the class time anyways. She let out a soft sigh before smiling at the thoughts that were once again running her mind. Just then, Schuyler's voice rang out in the class.
"Miss Nile!"
Jumping in her seat a little, Amelia quickly mad eye contact with Schuyler, which was a terrible idea by the way. "Y-yes professor?"
"I can imagine your roommate being clueless in class, but you? Seems to me that you'll be spending lunch and a few hours after class in supplementary classes."
"B-but..!"
"No 'buts' miss Nile."
Slumping down in her seat, Amelia so badly wanted to scream out in frustration. I really blew it...now I won't be able to see Luca for lunch. The remainder of class was like hell for her, she was continuously called on to answer questions and when she missed one, she'd hear a tsk come from Schuyler and the occasional snarky comment or two.
"Class is dismissed, remember that at the end of the week, there will be a quiz, so studying for it would be a wise decision on all of your parts." Schuyler had left the class after dismissing the class and Amelia let out a loud groan before slamming her fist on the desk.
"Amelia..?"
"H-huh? Oh..Guy, it's you. Hello."
Taking a seat on the chair next to Amelia, Guy gave a sympathetic look.
"So...supplementary classes, huh?"
Giving another groan, she turned to face him "Guy, you're a good friend and all, but if this is teasing, then please stop. I've ruined my chances to spend time with Luca, I never even get to see him half the time. being in different classes, him skipping classes and now Schuyler has been cracking down on me so hard lately."
As she spilled her worries to her friend, Guy gently began patting her on her back "I wasn't teasing, just so you know. I think me and the rest of the class can see how different class has been for you. But hey, supplementary classes won't be so bad, I'll be there!"
"Is that supposed to make me feel better?"
"Yes, it should!"
Amelia's shoulders started shaking and Guy immediately bgan to freak out, wondering what was going on. "Amelia? Are you alright, are you--" Just as guy was about to finish his sentence, he could hear Amelia trying to hold back her laughter, a few laughs had escaped though, despite her best efforts to conceal them. This in turn caused Guy to start laughing as well. The two of them had picked up their bags and were making their way to supplementary lunch classes, on their way, Amelia had spotted Nadia talking with Klaus,
"Nadia!"
"Huh..? Oh! Amelia!" Nadia quickly turned around with a bright smile on her
face. "On your way to Lunch with Luca?"
"I...no, I actually need you to send a message to Luca."
"Oh, sure. But..why aren't you going to lunch with him? Did something happen between the two of you..?"
"Oh no, nothing like that! See...I..well"
"She got supplementary classes." Guy chimed into the conversation, which was followed by Amelia giving a slap on his arm.
"Oh my gosh, are you serious? What on earth happened in class to make you get that?!"
"I'll tell you later, when we go back to the dorms, but for now could you please tell Luca that I'm sorry, but I can't make it to the lunch date we had planned?"
"Of course., I'll go do that right now."
Nadia waved off Amelia and Guys, while she ran off to go give Luca the message, leaving Klaus to stand there shaking his head and sigh before he too, departed from the area. Guy and Amelia left the area too and made their way to the classroom halfway down the hall, where an empty classroom welcomed them.
"I'm guessing there's not many people that come into supplementary lunch classes?"
"Supplementary classes in general, actually. Sometimes Nadia is in here, but only on a few occasions, but most of the time it's just me."
"Really? then what on earth do you do with your time here?"
"Usually I read, mess up spells, and on the rare occasion, I'll sleep."
The two of them took their seats and had used the time to study, Guy would occasionally crack a joke here and there to help liven the mood, which greatly helped make the time pass by. Lunch passed by rather quickly and soon the two of them had left to go to their remaining classes, which were going to be taught by Merkulova, thankfully.
With Schuyler out of sight, Amelia was able to feel a little more at ease with her classes, which in turn made it easier for her to focus and answer each question and cast each spell, flawlessly. The moment that classes were over for the day, Amelia took her time grabbing her things and was abut to leave, but was stopped by Merkulova's announcement.
"Due to a recent prank spell, Schuyler is unable to attend supplementary classes, so those of you who were meant to go today, will have to wait till tomorrow to go. That is all."
Amelia's heart skipped a beat at the announcement, now she'd be able to see Luca and ask to have a date with him now! Well...assuming she could catch him before it was too late. Hastily grabbing her things, she bolted out of the classroom and made her way to the class he should be in. Upon arriving though, she couldn't find him anywhere, she went to the archives, the library and even the courtyard but there was still no sign of him.
Amelia was about to give up hope, but as she continued to walk around, she caught glimpse of a figure up ahead by the lake, their green was being swept backwards in the breeze. She knew right away who it was and quickly made her way over to the figure.
"Luca..! So this where you've been?"
Turning to face her, he smiled "Yeah, I skipped the rest of my classes to come out here and relax."
"I see...oh?" just then, Amelia noticed the easel in front of him, along with an art pallet, with an array of different colors. "You paint as well?"
"In my free time, it's one of the things I take pride in doing."
"Oh? That's actually really cool. What are the things that you usually draw and paint?"
"Basically anything, you see, the world is basically a painting already, so many colors and details. I use that and make a smaller portrait of it, but in my own view, if that makes any sense?"
"It makes sense. You're basically just taking the things you see in this 'natural portrait' and putting them on a canvas?"
"Pretty much. Hey you know what?'
"What?"
"Why don't you go sit on that log over there, the one in front of the spring, surrounded by the bed of flowers."
"Huh? Why?"
"I want to make your image immortal. I want to paint your portrait and capture your beauty."
The moment Luca finished his sentence, Amelia's heart was beating hard against her chest. Her cheeks were a bright red and try as she may, no words came out of her mouth. All she could do was gently shake her head and slowly move over to the log, where she gently sat down.
"Grab one of those flowers, the daisy. I want you to hold it with both of your hands and kind of hold it to your chest alright? There, right there, perfect!"
After doing as she was told, she tried to stay as still as possible while Luca began scribbling away on the easel. Looking up at her from time to time, he'd always flash a smile, before calling her beautiful, which only caused her cheeks to grow hotter and hotter each time. Amelia began to think that this is what he wanted, to make her all flustered and absolute blushing fool.
Minutes passed by and as it did, she began to squirm a little as the seating was becoming a bit more uncomfortable with each passing moment. "I promise, i'm almost done, just give me a few more minutes." Luca had flashed a grin in her direction and Amelia nodded in response while trying make herself comfortable once again.
About ten minutes had passed and Luca had finally finished, he then motioned for her to come over and take a look. The moment she saw the painting, her heart skipped a beat and she could feel a few tears, threaten to spill down her cheeks. The painting itself was simple, yet elegant and the warm colors made the picture stand out even more. Suddenly, Luca took the painting off the easel and held it out to her.
"This is my gift to you, a gift to commemorate our first date."
"First date.." a soft smile was now upon her face as she spoke those two words. She was about to say more, but a loud rumble in the distance stopped her right in her tracks. "w-what was that..?"
"Looks like a storm is rolling in."
"A storm?! But the headmaster controls the weather, it's always so sunny and warm, why on earth would he make it rain?"
"I guess the old man finally wanted some variety in his life. We should hurry up and go before the rain comes."
"Right...do you think we'll be able to make it the dorms on time?"
"The dorms? We'll go to the greenhouse and take shelter."
Luca quickly gathered up his easel and art pallet in one hand, while his other hand took hold of Amelia's, before running off in the direction of the greenhouse. Amelia wanted to make the complaint of running so fast, as she wasn't able to keep up, however, she grinned and bared it, because she knew that if they stopped or took it slow, then she risked getting the portrait ruined by the rain.
The rain had begun, the moment they had reached the greenhouse, they quickly hurried inside before getting completely soaked.
"I can't believe it's storming...I was wanting to spend more time with you.."
"Then why don't you? Come on, follow me."
Walking forward a little bit, Luca pushed back a few branches, revealing a blanket laid out with a picnic basket, candles and two wine glasses. putting down his easel on the ground he made his way over and sat down, before motioning Amelia to take a seat right next to him.
"How...when did you?"
"I had a while to plan this since you couldn't make it to our lunch."
"yeah..I'm so sorry about that..."
"Don't be, we're here now aren't we? So let us enjoy this time we have."
Amelia gently placed the painting down by Luca's art easel, and went over to take a seat by Luca, who was now reaching into the picnic basket. Amelia watched as he began taking out a few sandwiches, chocolate covered strawberries, and a bottle of white grape wine, which was then elegantly poured into each of the glasses.
Amelia took hold of the glass and looked at the bubbling contents, it gave off a strong grape smell, and the taste was just as strong. She was about to spit it out, but decided that if she did, it would look rude, considering all the time and effort Luca had put into this. Eventually, after having a few more sips, the taste was becoming easier to handle, in fact, she quite like the taste of it. She then took a bite of the cucumber sandwiches that Luca had made, a hum of delight escaped her mouth as she continues to chew.
"Is my cooking that good?"
"Well, it's a sandwich, it's kind of hard to mess up a sandwich."
"Ouch, that hurt." Luca's smirk caused Amelia's cheeks to burn a bright red.
"Still, these have to be one of the best sandwiches, that I've had in quite a while."
"We still have dessert to eat y'know."
"Oh! Right!" Amelia's eyes darted to the little bowl of chocolate covered strawberries, oh how they were so tempting. Finishing the rest of her sandwich, her eyes were still eyeing the strawberries and just when she was about to grab one, Luca stopped her.
"ah-ah, nope."
"Huh? But why not!"
"Because I said so."
Luca's hand then reached out towards the bowl and grabbed on of the strawberries, and leaned over before danngling it over Amelia's mouth "open up."
"W-wh-what?"
"Come on, let a gentleman feed his girl."
Amelia was hesitant, but she soon complied and and opened up her mouth, the moment the strawberry touched her tongue, she hummed in sweet delight. The two of them were feeding one another the chocolate covered strawberries until there were no more. Afterwards, they drank the remaining contents in their glasses before lying down on their backs on the blanket. Their eyes made contact with the top of the see-through dome, flashes of lightning appeared here and there and each time the thunder roared, Amelia scooted over closer to Luca.
"'I'm guessing you don't like storms?"
"N-no, especially when I was younger."
"Don't worry, I won't let the mean storm hurt or scare my girl."
"Luca..." Amelia turned to face him and just like magnets, their faces came closer to one another's before their lips locked into a passionate kiss. Luca pulled away and gave a smile and pulled her into a closer embrace. "today has been wonderful."
"Y-yeah, it really has, despite all the things that happened earlier."
"You know what?"
"What..?"
"We should do this more often."
"You mean...go on dates?"
"Of course, it means I get you all to myself." gently stroking Amelia's cheek, Luca gave another smile, which made Amelia's heart pound hard against her chest.
"I'd love to."
The two of them shared a few more soft kisses, before watching some of species of birds and butterflies that resided in the greenhouse. They also spent a good chunk of time talking about plans for their next date, before falling asleep in each other's embrace, while listening to the rains gentle and soothing pitter patter against the dome.

Mr. Yagi
Cowritten by @aoimikans
Ai worked front desk on the top floor of Might Tower with Hikari for nearly seven years. There were three staples of her usual day: a rabid group of ever-changing media personnel, All Might’s rooftop entrances and disappearances behind the Might Gate and Mr. Toshinori Yagi.
Mr. Yagi was hired after All Might’s vacation following his fight with Toxic Chainsaw. It was rumored Yagi was replacing Sir Nighteye. His uncanny knowledge of every coworker - their birthdays, their favorite foods, the names of their pets - seemed to point to a similar quirk.
The notion was quickly dashed due to Mr. Yagi’s poor health and his own round-about admission that he was Quirkless.
Regardless, the man was a fast friend to everyone in Might Tower.
“Good evening, Ai, Hikari,” Yagi greeted, exiting from his usual staff door. He carried a wide box, and he set it on the front desk with a grin, “Happy International Doughnut Day!”
“Again Mr. Yagi?” Hikari said, giggling, “That’s the third obscure holiday this month!”
“Well, there’s plenty to celebrate,” Yagi chuckled, opening the box and offering the sweets inside, “Besides, you all work so hard. Might as well have fun every now and then.”
Yagi wheezed a laugh at his own joke and coughed, quickly reaching into his breast pocket for his handkerchief.
Ai smiled fondly and nudged a box of tissues his way, “Thank you Mr. Yagi - oh! Is that a s’mores doughnut? Don’t mind if I do.”
Yagi grinned behind his handkerchief and took a few tissues, wiping his mouth and chin.
“Good choice,” he rasped.
“Breaking News in Musutafu!”
Yagi jolted, twisting to look at the large television screen on the lobby wall.
“Off to alert All Might?” Hikari grinned knowingly, munching on her own butterscotch doughnut.
“You know him,” He laughed, shaking his head and edging toward the Staff door, “No room for personal time.”
“A giant villain is making an unwelcome splash at Ushimitsudoki Aquarium and Water Park.”
“No rest for the weary,” Ai said.
“Don’t I know it!” Yagi rushed to the door, pulling on his tie, “Keep the doughnuts!”
Moments later, the Might Gate opened, and All Might rushed out.
“Open the roof! I’m taking off!”
“Yes sir!” Hikari called, pressing the roof release button.
Ai watched as All Might leapt away before biting into her s’more doughnut. Her attention wandered to the Staff door. Yagi didn’t walk through the door again.
She sighed, “Poor man is probably buried in that personal paperwork of his.”
Akira Touma shouldered his bag as he jogged up to Might Tower. His hair was mussed and suit almost haphazardly shrugged on. He’d forgotten his tie.
Brushing his shirt, his left hand felt strange. Lighter. Lacking.
Akira stared at the tan line on his ring finger and frowned, punching the elevator button before shoving his hand into his pocket.
Public Relations Expert in All Relations But His Own! Engagement Broken Off Days Before Anniversary!
Akira sighed, dejected, and slipped into the elevator.
Birthday Botched by Break-Up. Leaning against the mirrored walls of the elevator, Akira stared at his shoes, Local Man Creates Headlines in the Face of Heartbreak - Has He Lost His Mind?
The elevator raced higher, slowing as it reached the twenty-seventh floor. The door opened with a ding!
“Surprise!” The singsong shout rang out, and Akira nearly dropped his bag.
“Happy Birthday!” his coworkers called as he walked through the elevator. His cubicle was covered in red, blue, and yellow streamers and a large cake sat in place of his keyboard.
“Wh-When did all this-?” Akira covered his mouth and laughed, “Thank you!”
He was swept into the center of the room, hands clapping against his back and congratulating him on another year. Small gifts were given him - simple things and joke gifts to decorate his desk. Finally, someone passed him a signed birthday card.
Opening it, the words blurred together as tears dripped down his face.
Happy Birthday to a Mighty Cool Dude! said a cartoonish drawing of All Might, giving him a thumbs up. Beneath it was a genuine All Might signature surrounded by the signatures of everyone in his department and a few outside it, including Mr. Yagi from the top floor.
“Aw! Don’t cry!” his cubicle neighbor, Makoto Tsutai, said and pat his back.
Akira let out a wobbly laugh, “This is amazing. Who planned this?”
Makoto grinned and sneakily pointed across the room.
Mr. Yagi leaned against the far wall, chatting with a couple public relations interns. He glanced up, coughing lightly when he caught them looking. He smiled, excusing himself, and approached.
“Happy Birthday, young Touma,” Yagi said with a wide grin, “Having a good time?”
“You planned all this?” Akira asked.
Yagi stiffened and coughed lightly into his fist, “I did very little, I assure you.”
“He told us it was your birthday today and brought the streamers and the card,” Makoto interjected, “And he made the cake.”
Yagi shot Makoto an uncomfortable look.
“Wh-why?” Akira stuttered, brows furrowed, “I know you are my superior, sir, but I don’t even work in the same department.”
Yagi rubbed the back of his neck, “May I speak with you over there?” He gestured away from the mingling group, leading the way to a quiet corner.
Akira followed, shoulders tensing nervously.
Birthday Party Or Farewell Party? Find Out Next...
“I want to apologize,” Yagi said, a solemn look on his gaunt face.
Here it comes. I’m fired. I don’t know what I did, but I’m fired.
“I understand your fiancé broke things off recently. That’s a very hard thing to deal with,” he continued, pulling a thin box from behind him, “And you looked like you needed cheering up.”
“O-oh!” Akira let out a confused laugh, but took the top off the box. Inside lay a neatly folded blue tie.
He shook his head, smiling, and lifted it from the box.
“Did you know I would forget my tie today too?” he asked.
Yagi chuckled, “No, I did not, but I’m glad it can be of use.”
“Sorry,” Akira held out the box for Yagi to hold, “Do you mind?”
Yagi grinned, taking the box, “Not at all, young man.”
Akira looped and tied the tie in place and fixed his collar, “Thanks.”
“Ah-” Yagi gestured with the box, “There’s one more thing…”
Akira looked down and blinked.
He reached down with a shaky hand and plucked the two baseball tickets from the bottom of the box, “These are…”
Yagi cleared his throat, “Those are from All Might. It’s his understanding that you and your brother are fans of that team.”
“We are! Holy-” he cut himself off with choked noise and hugged Yagi.
Yagi tensed, but gently pat Akira’s back.
Akira quickly pulled away, “Sorry. Thank you.”
“A-ah, well it was All Might…” Yagi murmured, glancing to the side.
“No, Mr. Yagi, thank you.” Akira said.
Yagi coughed, covering his mouth.
“For all of this,” Akira continued, looking out over the party.
“Oh!” Yagi’s shoulders slumped, and he laughed, “My pleasure, young man.”
Rain fell onto the street as Atsuko Morimiya rushed under the closest awning, leaning over and shielding the box in her arms from the downpour. She shivered, blue and orange spotted scales paling with the cold.
A small noise drew her attention to the box.
“Shh, it’s okay babies,” Atsuko cooed to the five kittens in the box. Shivering, she hugged the box closer.
A light pressure fell over her back and shoulders, warm and secure.
A coat? Who- ?
“Tokay Gecko Form makes you cold-blooded, right? Better keep warm.”
Atsuko looked up, “Mr. Yagi! What are you doing here?”
Yagi smiled, bashfully straightening his white t-shirt, “I live not too far from here. I was going to grab some food when I saw you rush for cover.”
“Mew!”
Yagi looked down and smiled warmly at the kittens peeking from the box, “Care to introduce me to your friends?”
“O-oh! Um,” Atsuko held the cardboard box out, “I found them by a dumpster, and I didn’t smell a mama cat anywhere.” She flicked her tongue out over the kittens and shook her head. “They were abandoned.”
“I see,” Yagi nodded, wiggling his finger above the kittens, smiling when they batted at it. “Well, I happen to know a no-kill shelter run by a few heroines. They never turn down new animals and do a great job finding good homes for them.”
Atsuko sighed in relief, looking down at at the five kittens, “Don’t worry. You’ll be somewhere safe soon.”
Yagi nodded, ducking out from under the awning to look at the sky, “Looks like things are clearing up. Let me walk you there. It’s not far.”
Atsuko smiled and followed him back onto the sidewalk, walking quickly to keep up with his long strides.
“So,” she started, “What’s it like working directly under All Might?”
“Hm?” Yagi turned back, brow raised, “Oh … He keeps me busy, but the work is very fulfilling.”
Atsuko flicked her tongue, humming at his odd tone - like she was missing a joke.
“You started interning in the logistics department… Has it been two weeks?” Yagi asked.
“Y-yeah!” Atsuko grinned, “Two and a half weeks now- ah!”
Yagi suddenly moved her away from the road, standing in front of her as a large truck passed and splashed the sidewalk with a wave of dirty water.
“Are you okay?” Yagi asked, coughing and shivering. He was soaked.
“Yes! Yes, I am,” Atsuko glanced down in the box before looked back up at Yagi, “And the kittens are still dr- … Mr. Yagi, are you okay?”
Blood dripped from his chin and landed on his drenched shirt, expanding slowly in pale red clouds.
Atsuko’s eyes widened as she saw a twisting starburst of scar tissue visible through his white shirt, “I-Is that… Are you-?”
Yagi sighed, wiping his lips and covering the scar with his right hand, “Yes, I am alright,” He gave her a thumbs up and grinned, “A little water won’t hurt, though I do wish my socks were dry.”
“No, I mean…” Atsuko pointed to Yagi’s left side.
He looked down, hand twisting in the fabric, “It’s an old injury. It healed as well at expected.”
“As expected?” Atsuko murmured, concern swelling in her chest.
Yagi shrugged, tugging at his shirt to keep it from clinging to his chest “Actually, if you wouldn’t mind, could you please not tell anyone about this? I don’t want people to worry unnecessarily.”
“Of course. If you insist...” She shook her head, adjusting the box in her arms, “If I may speak honestly, sir, during my short internship at Might Tower, everyone who I’ve spoken to… They’ve all mentioned you and appreciate your presence. They care about you, and worrying just comes naturally,” Atsuko laughed, reaching down to pet the kittens, “Nothing you can do about that, I’m afraid.”
Yagi’s cheeks reddened, “I suppose not…”
“And besides,” Atsuko smiled, “You worried about me, someone you’ve known for less than a month. That’s hardly fair of you to tell others not to worry.”
“Alright,” Yagi barked a laugh, “You win young Morimiya.”
“Atsuko.” She corrected.
Yagi bowed his head, “Atsuko.”
He clapped his hands together softly and grinned, “Now. Let’s get these kittens to the shelter. I’ll go ahead and make some calls. I know a few heroes who would adore them.”
“Alright!” Atsuko said with a laugh, “But first… You can take your coat back,” She eyed his clothes, still dripping with water, “I think you’ll need it more than I will.”
Yagi chuckled, rubbing the back of his head, “Sorry about this.”
“Like you said,” Astuko grinned up at him, “‘Don’t worry.’”
“And what do you call a model who remembers every slight?” Hikari asked Mr. Yagi as he fiddled with his rain coat.
“Hmm,” he grinned, chuckling, “Pretty petty.”
Ai snorted, but immediately returned to pretending to read the same page of the visitors log.
Yagi quirked a lopsided smile, “How about this? Some months have 30 days and some have 31. How many have 28?”
Hikari furrowed her brow, “One? February.”
Yagi’s smile widened to a shiteating grin, and he shook his head.
“All of them!” Ai exclaimed, turning from from computer and shooting Yagi a playful look, “That was a trick!”
“Correct!” Yagi barked a laugh, doubling over as he triggered a short coughing fit, “And I didn’t-” He wiped his lips with a tissue, “I didn’t trick you. I just asked how many months have 28 days.”
“Jeez!” Hikari pouted, cheeks red with embarrassment, “You got me!”
Yagi shook his head, smiling, “I didn’t get it the first time either.”
Hikari huffed, “I’ll find a joke you haven’t heard one of these days.”
“A challenge for an old goat like me,” Yagi said with a wink.
“Mr. Yagi!” Hikari snorted, “Stop! You’re not that old.”
“Regardless,” He grinned, “I look forward to it!”
“Hello again, Detective!” Ai called with a polite wave.
Yagi jolted, a startled cough escaping him as he turned, “Ah, Tsukauchi! Sorry, have I kept you waiting?”
The detective waved away his apology, “Not at all. Don’t worry about it.”
“Oh no, be careful Detective,” Hikari shook her head, “He’s wanted for serial homicide. He’s been killing time.”
“Has he? That’s not like him,” Detective Tsukauchi quirked an eyebrow at Yagi.
“Well,” Yagi shrugged, tapping his watch, “I got my work done early today.”
Tsukauchi blinked and laughed, “That’s even less like you. Should I be worried?”
Yagi huffed a tired laugh, “No. This morning was just a bit busy.”
“There was a string of villain attacks all over Hokkaido,” Ai said, “All Might was out all morning.”
“Poor Mr. Yagi probably had to cancel those interviews All Might was scheduled for,” Hikari said.
“Something like that,” Yagi laughed, smiling bashfully. He turned to the detective, “Ready to head out? I still owe you for those files you took care of.”
“I told you, it was no problem,” Detective Tsukauchi huffed with a smile, but he nodded. He turned to the front desk, “Have a good afternoon, ladies.”
Yagi waved briefly, “See you tomorrow.”
“Have a good day, Mr. Yagi!” Ai and Hikari chimed as the two walked toward the elevator, chatting.
“Hey Ai,” Hikari elbowed her coworker when they were out of earshot, “What’s your quirk saying today? I know you were scanning them.”
Ai blushed, shushing Hikari before whispering, “Mr. Yagi’s still head over heels.”
“And his detective friend?” Hikari prodded.
Ai stuck out her lower lip in a pout, shaking her head.
Hikari placed a hand over her heart, “Oh, poor Mr. Yagi…”
“Kidding!” Ai chirped, and she pointed to the retreating pair, “Detective Tsukauchi’s got it bad. I give them two months tops before they figure it out and get together.”
“About time!” Hikari sighed in relief.
With as kind and generous as Mr. Yagi was, he deserved some love and happiness.
Ai sighed, glancing to the Staff door beside the Might Gate.
“How many more days until U.A.’s first semester is over?” she asked, turning to Hikari.
“Eighteen?” Hikari huffed, her pen falling from between her nose and upper lip, “Did Mr. Yagi really have to follow All Might to U.A.?”
“He handles his private affairs,” Ai reminded her, “He has to follow him practically everywhere.”
“Still…” Hikari pouted, “I miss having him around. He really lit up the whole room. And that’s coming from me.” She said, shoulder-length hair glowing briefly.
Ai hummed in agreement.
“I know!” Hikari jumped up, “We should throw Mr. Yagi a party. Maybe get Detective Tsukauchi in on it!”
“That might be a little much,” Ai laughed, “You know how he is when we try to do stuff for him. Always returns the favor in an over-the-top gesture. No wonder All Might likes him.”
Hikari pouted, “I still miss him.”
“I’m sure he’ll find time to visit eventually,” Ai said, “Oh! And his birthday is coming up in the Summer.”
The phones rang off the hook as the Battle of Kamino raged on the lobby television, but no one answered. All Might was not in the building, and every non-combat staffer was glued to the screens.
“Thank God that kid got away,” whispered Ai, flinching as All Might smashed through the Boss Villain’s mask.
“Ah!” The shout and gasps echoed through the lobby as the villain sent All Might flying. Another smaller hero leapt up, grabbed him, and helped him to the ground.
“Does All Might look… tired?” Atsuko whimpered, glancing around nervously.
“He’ll pull through,” Akira said, clutching at his notepad, “He’s All Might.”
“Get him All Might!” Hikari called, nervously punching the air.
“Unbelieveable! A single villain! Destroying the street, and now he is fighting on more than equal terms with the Symbol of Peace!” the helicopter reporter yelled over the sound of the chopper.
The villain on stood, arms spread wide as he strode confidently toward the kneeling All Might. Whatever he said as he fixed his helmet was a mystery, but All Might and the smaller hero stood their ground.
Then the villain’s arm bulged with power.
The smaller hero leapt away.
All Might…
All Might stayed.
Three things happened very quickly.
The smaller hero turned midair and raced down.
The villain struck.
All Might swung his fist.
“Go All Might! Go!”
BOOM!
Debris flew through the air and a dust cloud hung around the battlefield.
Then the smoke cleared, and the Might Tower lobby - and the whole of Japan - went quiet.
“Y… Mr. Yagi?”
Kind, meek, generous Mr. Yagi stood bloodied, fist held out - the vertex where the damage split away. All Might’s costume hung loosely from his frail shoulders.
He coughed, and blood sprayed from between his teeth.
“Mr. Yagi… is All Might?” Ai stared at the screen, hand over her mouth.
“Oh my God…” Akira whispered, mouth agape, “Is that why he hasn’t come in? He’s…”
Then Mr. Yagi’s voice rang over the noise, the chaos, “My spirit remains! I am still the Symbol of Peace! And there is nothing you can do to take away even a fragment of that from me!”
The villain spoke, again muffled by distance and the helicopter’s blades.
Mr. Yagi’s smile fell.
“No…” Hikari shook her head, “Don’t give up…”
Mr. Yagi bowed his head, his pained bellow echoing across the battlefield.
A dreadful silence hung over the lobby.
“Help!”
The camera shifted and zoomed.
A woman was caught under the debris, saved from the blast by All Might’s last swing.
“You can do it, All Might!” Akira called out.
“Mr. Yagi! Keep fighting!” Atsuko cried.
A roar of noise and cheers shook the walls of Might Tower.
“Win, Mr. Yagi! Win!”
Mr. Yagi - All Might - Their hero grinned wide, arm flexed and ready to strike.
“There’s so much… so much we Heroes have to protect! And that’s why we don’t lose!”
Toshinori sighed, scratching at the arm sling strap where it brushed against his neck. Ducking his head, he looked out the window and up at the all too familiar Might Tower.
“How’re you feeling?” Naomasa asked, gently elbowing Toshinori’s arm.
Toshinori grimaced, “As good as expected. Nervous I suppose…” he sat back in his seat and forced a weak laugh, “Everyone here knew both Toshinori Yagi and All Might. And with my retirement… Well, I owe them my thanks for their hard work… and an apology.”
“I’m sure they will understand the situation you were in,” Naomasa said, flashing his I.D. at the parking lot gate attendant.
Toshinori didn’t miss the wide-eyed look the attendant gave him, and he waved bashfully.
Naomasa pulled around the parking lot and turned into his usual guest space. Throwing the car into park, he killed the engine and pocketed his keys.
“Are you sure you’re alright?” he asked, his voice still soft in the abrupt silence of the car - the only noise excluding the quiet clicking of the cooling engine.
“Maybe ask me again after,” Toshinori answered, taking off his seatbelt and pushing himself out of the car.
“Alright,” Naomasa huffed a laugh as he caught up to him and pressed the up button on the nearby elevator, “What floor again?”
“I asked for them to gather in the convention hall. Thirty-second floor,” Toshinori said, shuffling into the elevator. He clicked his tongue, looking to his left and right. A seemingly infinite number of himself looked back. He looked haggard in his too-loose suit, arm in a sling and wrapped in bandages.
He looked to the floor, muttering, “Shouldn’t have installed mirrors…”
“It’ll be fine,” Naomasa said, pocketing his phone as the elevator door closed.
With a small lurch, the elevator rose.
Toshinori watched as the number above the door climbed. At twenty, he nervously pat his side. At twenty-seven, he took a deep breath. At thirty-one, he forced an uneasy smile.
Ding.
The door opened, and Toshinori ducked his head and stepped forward.
“Surprise~!!”
Toshinori jumped with a cough, hand flying to his chest to calm his racing heart.
With two pop-pops! streamers and confetti fluttered down onto Toshinori as he stood, rooted to the floor.
“Wh-” Toshinori looked over the crowd of Might Tower staff and finally up to the large banner hung across the front of the hall.
Happy Retirement, Mr. Yagi!
A lopsided grin split his face, and Toshinori laughed, “What is this?”
“Looks like a retirement party,” Naomasa said with a shiteating grin.
Toshinori looked down at him, mouth opening and closing. Then he punched his shoulder.
“You knew about this!” Toshinori accused, shaking his sore hand.
“I might have,” Naomasa answered.
That got a laugh from a few nearby staff.
Ai and Hikari walked forward, pushing a light rolling table with a large cake on top.
“You’ve done so much for each of us. As Mr. Yagi,” Ai said, approaching and gently laying her hand on Toshinori’s good arm, “And as All Might.”
Toshinori bowed his head and swallowed a surge of emotion and vulnerability.
“If I may say something…” he said quietly.
Ai and Hikari nodded, taking a couple steps back.
Toshinori straightened, looking out over the Might Tower staff - his staff. With a steady breath, he buffed up to his Hero Form and bowed deeply.
“Thank you for taking care of me, all of you! And ghh-!” He deflated with a hacking cough and stumbled. Naomasa grabbed his shoulder, and Toshinori shakily righted himself. He smiled bashfully, rasping, “And I’m sorry I wasn’t completely honest with you.”
“Mr. Yagi…”
Toshinori turned to his right, smiling when he spotted the young logistics intern, Atsuko.
“We’re so glad you’re okay!” she cried out, tears welling in her eyes.
Smile going lopsided, Toshinori walked up to her and knelt. He gently squeezed her shoulder.
“Watching my fight in Kamino must have been scary, huh? But it’s alright now,” he said, grinning, “Why? B-”
“Because you’re here, Mr. Yagi!” Atsuko answered, jumping and wrapping her arms around Toshinori’s neck.
Toshinori grunted, swaying too far to the side-
Multiple pairs of hands rushed to support and right him.
“Careful, Atsuko!”
“Are you alright, Mr. Yagi?”
“Don’t go falling over.”
Toshinori’s brows rose Ai and Hikari helped him to his feet.
“We’re still here to support you, All Might,” Akira said, straightening his blue tie, “Like you’ve always supported us.”
Huffing a laugh, Toshinori ran his good hand through his hair, and he glanced at Naomasa who gave him a thumbs up.
“See? It’s fine.” Naomasa mouthed.
Toshinori rolled his eyes but grinned.
Feeling a soft tug on his arm, Toshinori allowed his peers to direct him further into the room. Their smiles were infectious, and Toshinori’s heart soared as he greeted them one by one.
Thank you. Everyone.
He looked back to Naomasa once more and smiled softly.
“I’m home.”
Just some fluff inspired by the new Vigilantes chapter. :3 @aoimikans and I had a ton of fun writing this.
