Ayyyyy someone else who blocks x reader fics!!
EYYYYYYYY! GOOD TO SEE YA! yeah it really is nothing personal, they just clog the tags with miles-long poorly-written hyperspecific smut or endless fawning fanart three steps removed from the original character that I'm not even interested in lmao. and the closer you get to "modern"/normie fandoms the worse the infestation gets... god I've gotta have thousands of blogs and tags blocked at this point. but I can (mostly) safely browse the tags of my special interests, so the sacrifices are worth it ( ⁎ᵕᴗᵕ⁎ )

not to keep dragging the topic, but the "you should care about others" and "the worth of human lives" kind of responses when it's about literal billionaires......... not the response you would be expecting from the "kys" and "monarch down" website

Australia’s Indian diaspora struggles to break glass ceiling in politics
Despite individual efforts like Joshi’s to bridge communities and advocate for immigrants’ rights, a recent Victoria State survey revealed significant under-representation of the Indian diaspora in Australian politics and leadership roles. This gap, underscored by the survey’s findings that most of the state’s residents are unaware of Indian leaders in these spheres, points to systemic challenges…

There's a lot of anti-Romani racism in Dracula, and today's entry marks the start of it.
So I thought it might be a good opportunity to highlight some organisations that are working to promote Roma rights, and some ways, alongside donating, that you might be able to support them.
The European Roma Rights Centre carries out strategic litigation to support Roma rights, as well as doing advocacy and research. You can sign up to volunteer for them here; one volunteer-run project currently live is called Challenging Digital Antigypsyism, and focuses on identifying and reporting hate speech on social media platforms.
On a similar theme, Minority Rights Group International has a campaign toolkit on countering cyberhate against Roma. The focus of the campaign is Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia.
In the UK, Friends, Families and Travellers works to end racism and discrimination against Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people and to protect the right to pursue a nomadic way of life. If you're in the UK, you can ask your MP to sign their pledge card. And if you witness discriminatory comments in politics, you can report that here.
The Roma Support Group, based in London, works with Eastern European Roma refugees and migrants. They have a number of volunteer roles for people with regular time to offer.

US Americans have got to stop the "go back to New York" "settlers = Brooklyn landlords" thing. Are there American Jewish settlers in Palestine? Absolutely. Are there Israeli Jews in the U.S. who are still reservists? Absolutely.
The problem is that they are a small minority of settlers and Israelis. There are about 30,000 Israelis in the entire state of New York, including Palestinians with Israeli citizenship. [x] There are 1,600,000 Jews just in New York City. [x]
500,000 Israelis have U.S. passports, including Palestinian citizens of Israel. [x] There are 9,174,520 Israelis, again including Palestinians with citizenship. [x]
Saying this does not diminish what's happening in Palestine or the absolute U.S. government support for colonialism and genocide. Settlers do not need to be American or have direct ties to the U.S. to be settlers. Settlers do not need to be American for their colony to be a proxy state for imperial interests, as has also been seen in, say, South Africa.
When you do this shit you're also erasing millions of Arab, Persian, Amazigh, Kurdish, Ethiopian, Indian, Bukharan, and other Jews from outside of Europe who have largely ended up in Palestine as settlers due to colonial and imperial destabilisation of Asia and Africa and a racist "Western" agenda to keep African and Asian refugees of all religious backgrounds outside of "Western" countries as much as possible.
You're also erasing how much xenophobic anti-migrant policies contributed to "Allied" countries after WWII using Palestine as a means of removing Holocaust surviving refugees from mainland Europe without also themselves taking large numbers of refugees into their own countries.
Palestine has been at the centre of displacement of Jews from around the world through a process of ongoing genocide of Palestinian people. This is backed by "Western" not only to create or maintain white Christian hegemonic authority in their own countries, but also as part of a Cold War agenda to destabilise Asia and Africa and eliminate anti-imperial and communist movements.
Israel is a genocidal, fascist country propped up by the US, the UK, and other "Western" imperial powers while its settlers are largely from continental Europe, Asia, and Africa.

You don't have to love Biden to know Trump is a much worse person who will impose much worse policies.
Women will suffer. Pregnant people will suffer. Minorities will suffer. LGBTQ will suffer. Immigrants/migrants will suffer. Children will suffer. Dreamers will suffer. Human rights will suffer. Civil rights will suffer. Ukraine will suffer. NATO will suffer. The environment will suffer.
Any issue you are picking as 'your issue' will be worse under Trump. Jared Kushner wants to build hotels on the Gaza coast. Hello?
Do you get that Trump and his cronies will empower every crooked strongman around the world? Putin? MbS in Saudi Arabia? Viktor Orbán?
Don't let your first election be your last election.

President Biden fought on Friday to save a bipartisan immigration deal from collapse in Congress, vowing to shut down the border if the plan became law even as the Republican speaker pronounced it dead on arrival in the House.
In a written statement that came as Senate negotiators scrambled to finalize a deal that former President Donald J. Trump is pressuring Republicans to oppose, Mr. Biden used his most stringent language yet about the border, declaring it “broken” and in “crisis” and promising to halt migration immediately if Congress sends him the proposal.
“What’s been negotiated would — if passed into law — be the toughest and fairest set of reforms to secure the border we’ve ever had in our country,” he said. “It would give me, as president, a new emergency authority to shut down the border when it becomes overwhelmed. And if given that authority, I would use it the day I sign the bill into law."[...]
Under the emerging deal, the administration would be required to shut down the border to migrants attempting to enter without prior authorization if encounters rise above 5,000 on any given day[...]
As the immigration plan teeters on Capitol Hill, the fate of additional aid for Ukraine also hangs in the balance[...]
Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the minority leader, told fellow Republicans behind closed doors this week that Mr. Trump’s hostility to the plan and his growing dominance in the primary had put them “in a quandary.”
Mr. McConnell, a chief Republican proponent of sending more aid to Ukraine, has been a vocal supporter of the border deal that members of his party have insisted upon as the price of their backing for continued assistance for Kyiv.[...]
The bipartisan team of senators that has been working for months to strike a compromise to crack down on [...] migration and drug trafficking across the southern border with Mexico has come to an agreement in recent days on a set of policy changes. They include measures to make it more difficult to secure asylum, increase detention facilities, and force the administration to turn away migrants without visas if more than 5,000 people attempt to cross into the country unlawfully on any given day.

The faces of Aeta peoples. Photos by Ophelia Persson, from “DNA study reveals evidence for the presence of Islander Denisovans in the Philippines” (2021) by Larena Lab, Uppsala University.
Aeta is often used as an umbrella term referring to specific ethnic groups in the Philippines distinguished by their much darker complexions and often curly- to kinky-textured hair, such as the Batak of Palawan and Mamanwa of Mindanao. Due to their distinct physical appearances they are commonly misidentified as modern-day descendants of prehistoric Africans who managed to find their way to the Philippine archipelago in Southeast Asia. In reality, they are descended from the same major populations non-Aeta Filipinos are also descended from, i.e., First Sundaland People and later Austronesian migrants.
Today, Aeta peoples are a recognized albeit underserved minority alongside other (non-Aeta) Indigenous Peoples of the Philippines.
