genuinely all you need to know to truly understand homura is that she was raised catholic. that’s it. im so serious. that’s why she hates herself. calls herself a devil and a sinner and takes the blame for everything. kneeling at madoka’s feet worshipping her statue and leaving stains on her legs because she’s tainted. her catholicism is also fundamental from a narrative perspective because madoka could ONLY ascend to godhood because of homura’s religious-like devotion for her. because gods are kept alive through veneration and rituals which is essentially what homura does in her loops (put madoka on a pedestal and perform rituals by doing it all over and over again). and the only way for homura to undo making madoka a god is to act like the catholic (but also islamic tbh) version of lucifer. anyway they needa have a yuri conclave in walpurgis rising

One of my fav authors just said in their authors note that Sam and Dean retire from hunting like Hayao Miyazaki retires from film making. Which is literally soooo perfect…

Like they are DONE. They are OVER IT. Dean gets a job at a garage and watches too much Food Network. Sam’s working on a dissertation on American folklore. And then he’s conducting an oral history section of his thesis and the “Sasquatch” sighting his subject is describing is REALLY starting to sound like a wendigo….

And of course there are other hunters and they could pass it off. But they’re so close and they basically did all the research already and the undergrad Sam hired for help w interview transcription is just gonna keep poking her nose in it if it doesn’t get taken care of soon.

Anyways, this is the last one. After this, they’re DONE. For real this time.

something to be said abt the dimension added by the allusions to greek myth in severance. us all thinking that mark and gemma are orpheus and eurydice and that by reintegrating mark has looked back and therefore ensured that eurydice cannot return--that cold harbour will never be completed. and that we will have to brace ourselves for another tragedy in the end. but then we get gemma's pov and she's not eurydice, she's odysseus fighting to return to mark's penelope, and the cold harbour file is not the passage that must be crossed without turning but the shroud that must remain unwoven to buy odysseus time to come home. and, suddenly, terribly, there is hope again.
