Papas As Overrated Restaurants
*Disclaimer: I love 3 of the places listed and I understand why they’re so hyped. Don’t crucify me for putting your favorite restaurant here.
I've disappeared into the nether of dark times and needed something to distract me. Please enjoy these HCs and if you want more comparison posts, let me know via likes or comments! Doing these kinds of posts is fun, especially reading the comments and reblogs. Seeing the interaction literally makes my day.

Papa Nihil - Raising Cane's
Tumblr media
This man gets on my fucking nerves and so do people who claim that “Raising Cane’s has the best chicken.” You have a beautiful assortment of places like KFC, Popeyes, and Jolibees, but no. Nihil can’t appreciate nice things like a sweet n’ spicy wing combo OR a gorgeous, psychotic blond. Nah, brother, you get so lost in the sauce, where’s the chicken? Where’s Imperator? She left.
Papa Emeritus I - Panera Bread
Tumblr media
Okay, don’t get me wrong, brother is a classic goth grandpa out of his robes and I live for it. However, sitting in a Panera to drink coffee and read an occult novel is retirement spent doing the most basic shit. He’d order that basic shit too: can I get a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup with a baguette? Not until you take your blood pressure meds like the rest of the Panera population.
Papa Emeritus II - Chick-Fil-A
Tumblr media
He’s a dick - we know this. He'll order inside just to scare the Christian white women after their Bible book club. He sits in the middle of the dining area and prays to Satan loud enough to be heard by everyone, even by the children in the filthy playground tunnels. Then, he leaves half of the food behind because fuck homophobes, he's got rituals to commence and dicks to suck.
Papa Emeritus III - Starbucks
Tumblr media
"Si, I'll take a venti caramel crunch frappuccino with extra caramel drizzle, extra whip, extra ice, extra cinnamon dolce top, 7 pumps of the dark caramel sauce, 1 pump of the honey blend, 5 pumps frappuccino roast coffee, 7 add frappuccino chips, heavy cream, and double blended - I can fucking tell if you didn't double blend."
Papa Emeritus IV - Chipotle
Tumblr media
Poor man tries to be hip and trendy, but his success rate isn't incredibly high. He always gets overwhelmed standing in that damn line trying to figure out what he wants. Most of the time, he will look up a TikTok suggestion video on what to get at Chipotle because decision-making hurts his rat brain. Copia will eat what he is given, however, he won't be able to tell what's in it half of the time.

-attempted to take a nap. wasn’t super successful but the rest time to reset was definitely nice
-wrote what I feel is a very solid cover letter first draft
-made a zucchini, leek, and chickpea stew with a parsley and pepitas pesto which altogether fucking slapped (inspo from smitten kitchen but per usual we changed a bunch of shit)
-am now after dinner going to fully peruse the influencer cookbook I impulsively ordered for myself last week 🤣 (Big Vegan Flavor by Nisha Vora…it’s absolutely massive and genuinely looks really good)

One of my new projects in 2024 is making cards to donate to my church's hospitality ministry. This is by far the busiest group in our church--always cooking and gathering and taking food/clothes/etc. to those in need. Sometimes it's a family who is trying to scrape by, sometimes it's an elderly church member who can't get out anymore. They were really happy with the idea of including handmade cards to include in their packages.
I ordered two rubber stamps from TheStampMaker.com to use for these cards. The drawing is a hand-drawn sketch done by a church member decades ago and I just made up the sentiment stamp. The real challenge is trying to include both in a card (though I certainly don't need the sketch stamp for every card design). So far this is what I have and I'm really enjoying it :)

For the Life of the World (John 6:1-21)
There is provision of needs for the life of the world, that is, if we have eyes to see it.
The Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes, by James Tissot, 1886 After this Jesus went to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, also called the Sea of Tiberias. A large crowd kept following him because they saw the signs that he was doing for the sick. Jesus went up the mountain and sat down there with his disciples.  Now the Passover, the festival of the Jews, was near. When he looked up and saw a…

ITALY- World Wetlands Day Celebration organized by FAO.
Tumblr media
Wetlands offer vital freshwater, hosting over 100,000 species. They sustain humanity, exemplified by rice grown on wetland paddies, a staple for three billion people, contributing to 20% of global food. Additionally, wetlands act as natural shock absorbers, mitigating rainfall impacts and lowering flood and storm surge risks. Recognizing the importance of wetlands, FAO is actively involved in supporting the conservation, restoration, and sustainable management of wetlands from the perspective of food security and agriculture, including crop and livestock production, forestry, fisheries and aquaculture, while promoting integrated land and water resources management, and addressing the challenges posed by climate change, biodiversity, and the competing demands from different sectors.

More than 100 Palestinians have been killed and some 700 others wounded after Israeli troops opened fire on hundreds waiting for food aid southwest of Gaza City, health officials say, as the besieged enclave faces an unprecedented hunger crisis. The Gaza Ministry of Health said on Thursday that at least 104 people were killed and more than 750 wounded, with the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemning what it said was a cold-blooded “massacre”. [...] People had congregated at al-Rashid Street, where aid trucks carrying flour were believed to be on the way. Al Jazeera verified footage showing the bodies of dozens of killed and wounded Palestinians being carried onto trucks as no ambulances could reach the area. “We went to get flour. The Israeli army shot at us. There are many martyrs on the ground and until this moment we are withdrawing them. There is no first aid,” said one witness. Reporting from the scene, Al Jazeera’s Ismail al-Ghoul said that after opening fire, Israeli tanks advanced and ran over many of the dead and injured bodies. “It is a massacre, on top of the starvation threatening citizens in Gaza,” he said. The dead and wounded had been taken to four medical centres: al-Shifa, Kamal Adwan, Ahli and the Jordanian hospitals. Ambulances could not reach the area as the roads had been “totally destroyed”, said al-Ghoul. “The numbers will rise. Hospitals are no longer able to accommodate the huge number of patients because they lack fuel, let alone medicine. Hospitals have also run out of blood.” Reporting from occupied East Jerusalem, Al Jazeera’s Bernard Smith said the Israeli military “initially tried to pin the blame on the crowd” saying that dozens were hurt as a consequence of being crushed and trampled when aid trucks arrived. “And then, after some pushing the Israelis went on to say that their troops felt threatened, that hundreds of troops approached their troops in a way they posed a threat to them so they responded by opening fire,” Smith added.
