2. a canon or headcanon hill you will die on about them:

i have two headcanon answers for my best girl, bellatrix:

that her marriage to rodolphus is unhappy

a lot of bellatrix fans - or certainly the ones i follow on tumblr - have the headcanon that her marriage to rodolphus is a strong one, and either reject the idea of bellamort, or think that bellamort takes place with rodolphus’ consent.

i disagree. i much prefer to view bellatrix as someone whose breathless devotion to voldemort isn’t just caused by the deranged sexual energy she projects in the books [which helena bonham carter really took and ran with in the films…], but by the fact that voldemort - tragically - is the first man in her life who actually treats her as a real person.

while i don’t think her marriage to rodolphus was forced [i think it was arranged - and i think the idea that pureblood families practise arranged marriage is implied by canon - but arranged and forced marriages are not synonymous, nor are arranged and loveless ones], i do think that it was a decision she made when she was quite young because she thought she should, and that, if she’d had the chance to actually think properly about it, she wouldn’t have accepted rodolphus’ proposal.

i see them, then, as having very little in common - rodolphus being dour and insubstantial is my preferred way of writing him, while bella is passionate and vibrant - and as living, almost the second the rings are exchanged, entirely separate lives.

i also see bellatrix feeling incredibly constrained by the gendered expectations of her social class - expectations which rodolphus, following the example of his parents [and bella’s own], has for her - and hating being, essentially, trapped in the lestranges’ house, having to play hostess and behave herself like a good pureblood woman. like narcissa.

voldemort - someone who can very much understand the desire to escape the shackles of your father and your class background - is the only man she ever meets who lets her escape this.

but, more than that:

that voldemort genuinely loves her, in his own little way

if you asked him, of course, he’d say otherwise, but i think it’s justifiable in canon that voldemort doesn’t just like having bella around because she strokes his ego.

he clearly misses her while he’s stuck in a tree in albania; he is the happiest he’s been in over a decade the night she’s released from azkaban; he refuses to lose her to azkaban again in the duel at the ministry, even though it means blowing a year-long cover; he allows her to speak frankly to him when they’re in private [she tells him to his face that he’s wrong about snape - for most people, that’s the last thing you ever say to lord voldemort, for bella, all she gets is the silent treatment for a few days]; he is willing to put up with her doing all she can to be physically close to him, even though that alludes to the relationship between them and makes him look like he has a weakness; he is - if you’re a delphini truther [i am! sue me!] - willing to allow her to be seen to be pregnant with his baby, something which makes clear he’s just a man underneath it all; and - of course - he absolutely loses it when she dies.

in contrast to a fanon tendency to turn him into an emotionless automaton, voldemort is someone who clearly has a great desire to be seen and known. his monologues are usually him revealing his secrets, his desire for notoriety is obviously caused by having been such an attention-starved child, his life is hollowed out by the profound grief of his orphanhood. i cannot see any scenario in which bellatrix’s affection for him isn’t something he clings onto like a life-raft. and, despite the series’ belief that the main value of love is as sacrifice, this - pleasure, comfort, solace, understanding - is love too.

🐙 Oceancare is an oceantale/undersail inspired au in which every character is a sea animal of some sort.

🦑 It takes place in the Oceancare Facility which is a secluded and forgotten underwater hospital in the middle of the sea. Unbeknownst to the public, Oceancare conducts cruel treatments on the patients that find themselves at its doors.

🦐 Much like the original sparklecare it follows Barry as he tries to escape the hospital alongside the other patients. Oceancare is much more of an aesthetic change au than a rewrite.

🦞 Currently there are no future plans to make Oceancare a proper comic

I think my tintin s/i would have a very, like... jim hawkins/john silver treasure planet type relationship with haddock (that movie is one of my favourites and those two have SUCH a good familial dynamic and I WILL steal it when applicable). they start out kinda distrusting of eachother - that's just how both of their personalities are, lol - but eventually they grow really close and genuinely view one another as family. my guy has definitely called haddock dad before on accident and haddock ran to his room to cry tears of joy about it for a solid 30 minutes 😭😭😭

calculus takes on a very mentor-y role towards my s/i! not just for fancy scientific stuff (but that's ofcourse part of it - you can't convince me that calculus isn't Very Autistic, science is definitely his special interest), but also just... general life stuff. even though his hearing is far from perfect, calculus does really do his best to sit and listen when my dude needs it :)

So I was thinking about a school AU because of the Ovenbreak update, and one thing I came up with is that all the knight characters (along with probably some others) have a fencing club, since pretty much all of them but Pistachio already use swords

The one thing I’m trying to figure out though is who would be the hypothetical club president. I can imagine Dark Choco being the former club president, but he left so he’s not anymore

Does MC have any other friends then the characters? Like any other student in RAD, demon or succubus?

It’s never mentioned in detail but they are said to be popular.

A few potential friends I can think of

- Asmodeus has introduced MC to people. They may be acquainted with some of them, one of them being Lucifugus.

- Queen Rose, as they really liked MC in the Dames Event but their friendship isn’t elaborated on.

- MC gets acquainted with the butcher in the human world.

- MC has at the very least spoken to other sorcerers in the Sorcerer’s Society.

- Michael could be considered acquainted at this point. They aren’t really friends in Nightbringer but in the OG they seem to get along at least.

- MC has met witches in the game before. In Season one they met the ghost of Griselda whom they got along with.

– Many one time characters from events also seem to love MC.

1. the canon about them you outright reject:

that he’s a sociopath.

not because i don’t think it’s what the text wants us to believe, but because i just think it’s so boring to have a villain whose villainy is caused by genetic factors - and i also think this undermines the series’ central theme, which is the value of choice.

i much prefer voldemort as someone whose evil has much more complex motivations - almost all of which are rooted in the grief and rage of his childhood - and who is still capable of things like love or empathy alongside them, just in strange and quite stunted ways.

2. a canon or headcanon hill you will die on about them:

that it all comes down to his mammy issues.

the voldemort of canon - and, therefore, harry and dumbledore - acts like the path his life took was caused by tom riddle sr., and the twin humiliations of being abandoned by him and finding out he was a muggle [and also, we can presume, finding out he was rich, lived in luxury, and had managed to get out of service in the second world war, while his son was dragged up in an orphanage].

but underneath all the raging about his filthy muggle father’s name, voldemort’s main motivation is his mother. he comforts himself with magical thinking about how she wouldn’t have died if she really mattered; he kills the riddles seconds after discovering his father walked out on her; he frames morfin for the crime because he called merope a slut; he murders hepzibah smith because she suggests merope stole slytherin’s locket; the locket is the only horcrux for which he constructs an incredibly elaborate defence in a place meaningful to him from childhood; he loves to talk about his mother to harry, and he loves to comfort himself by goading harry with his own motherlessness; and bellatrix is, in a sense, the anti-merope, the one woman he feels certain won’t abandon him, which is why he’s in shambles when she dies.

3. an obscure headcanon you have about them:

that he was raised as a catholic. the man very much has the energy of having been told off by a nun or two. and he loves a relic.

Do you feel like Kuki had a point in not liking Sasaki, at least from his career-oriented standpoint? Him saying "fucking Sasaki" as his Kagune goes wild revealed some resentment. I think Sasaki treated the Quinx as "playing house" like Furuta puts it; they really only progressed after he wasn't in charge of them. In my head, I don't think he ever really ends up getting along with Sasaki/Kaneki: he just tolerates him because the Quinx likes him and he ended up getting attached to the Quinx.

From a career-oriented standpoint oh sure, Haise isn't all that much of an effective mentor when it comes to specifically sharpening skills and he deserved criticism, he's just the golden boy's favorite little creature who got assigned to a project so they could keep him alive. However, what he is decent at is keeping up morale, and they they also all fall into various states of mental despair once he leaves, which effects their performances even if they improve physically, because their job and existences are astoundingly bleak, (remember they are literally owned by the company and can be killed without repercussion if they're deemed dangerous and what they get in return is just being a decently effective living weapon and decent pay), they're all barely adults, and really what they could probably have used would be a more proper mentor figure who still holds the capacity for compassion. Akira or someone would've done well in the role of Quix guide but, since Haise is a half-ghoul, it's easy to put him in charge of the basically-half-ghouls and use that as a reason to keep him from the chopping block. Because the Quinx's success is not the priority to the one pulling the strings.

However Kuki likes to deny he needs connection anyways so in short: yes probably, but it's less Sasaki's fault and more Arima's, as usual. That said I do think he gets somewhat attached to Sasaki by sheer factor of having no one but him and the other quinxes to grow particularly bonded to, even if he resents that and his connection is obviously more strained than the rest, ESPECIALLY after that "it's your fault your friend died not mine" talk.

Rise Characterizations Pt. 3!!!

Now that Leo and Raph are done, it's Donnie's turn for character analysis as a writing reference. So without further ado,

Donnie Character Notes

Language Habits:

Straight up talks like a redditor who hasn't touched enough grass (affectionate)

Oscillates between very scientific paper polished, sometimes adding a dazzle of shakespearean for dramatics, or abbreviations/a shorter version of a word with a more fun connotation (i.e. "brekkie" instead of breakfast)

Uses food as surprised exclamations or curses, "oh my peaches and cream", "banana pancakes!"

Emphasizes each syllable of a long word when he's excited or trying to make a point. Conquered becomes con-qu-ered

Either exaggerates his speech or speaks in deadpan

The science terms he uses as battle cries aren't chosen at random, but rather are related to the action/subject at hand, i.e. yelling "fibonacci" when throwing his spinning tech-bo

Will overly describe an item or a situation, and often gets caught up in these observations before processing what just happened

Will repeatedly yell "help!" when he's distressed and/or outnumbered

Refers to Mikey as "Michael"

Refers to his brothers as "brethren" or "gentlemen"

Refers to splinter as either "father", "papa", or "dad" depending on the weight of the situation

Refers to his tech as his "babies"

Answers the phone with, "You're conversing with Donatello"

Personality:

The fixer, he supplies the family with tech and resources. He always has a trinket made for the situation at hand and/or offers his knowledge/data collected. He's always prepared to help. Even with outside resources, he likes to feel useful in solving their problems (i.e., building Todd that dog park)

The theater kid, in a similar vein to leo, Donnie has his own style of dramatics. He often uses shakespeare-like language, is mentioned to regularly recite the jupiter jim musical soundtrack, and has a music mode for his battle shell. He belongs on a stage, or at least thinks he does

Not good at lying, despite the glamour he can put on in the spotlight. This may be due to the side of himself that over explains his thoughts

An over-thinker, who really tends to over-complicate things. His first theory or idea will always be the most extreme buck-wild concept. After some filtering, he still word vomits

A dreamer/big idea guy. He does have big ideas and goals. A lot of these he's able to put into place, although some go a little haywire (see Albearto). He doesn't do things in halves, and puts everything into a project

Meticulous, someone who's very detail oriented. As mentioned before he tends to over-complicates things. This may be impacted by his love for data and collecting information (he does record Everything for a reason)

Always on the edge of violence, which is surprising. Donnie's not known as being the angry archetype of tmnt, but he can get a little violent in his fighting style and does often cite his desire to use lethal force

Low empathy, which is mainly due to his issues processing and recognizing emotions. He's been pegged as unemotional, but in canon he's rather emotional and expressionate, just lacking the skills to process such emotion (he's just like me fr)

Praise motivated, as seen with his interactions with Splinter. Also desires the praise of his brothers, who he doesn't feel understand him with all the teasing that's sent towards his direction. This also pushes him to seek validation and acceptance in other groups (i.e. the purple dragons), to feel a sense of security or belonging

Ignores his own mistakes, and will often pretend like they didn't exist or ever happen. This most likely has to do with his desire for praise, so he feels bad when he fails. If he never made a mistake, he never has to feel bad

Miscellaneous:

Fourth to unlock mystic powers

Uses "Bootyyyshaker9000" as most of his usernames and passwords, with his alt. username being "Alpha-Bootyyyshaker9000"

Has a fear of bees, spiders, and of course beach balls

Breaks the fourth wall the most
