I’m such a big fan of the Minyard-Josten Rivalry fic you wrote!!! How’s the writing going?

It has slowed down due to Adult Life™️

I've gotten engaged, bought a house, got a puppy, rescued some cats, changed jobs and got promotions...recently bought a horse to train, so writing has been strongly delayed.

However, that being said, I do tap away at MJR every now and again, and the project hasn't been abandoned. I do want to finish it, and I do believe I still will, even if people have stopped reading it by then 😅

During the Michigan trip, I visited two former employers of mine - Meijer and MJR. I reference both places heavily in my short stories.

I didn't go inside MJR (had no time), but I did go inside the Meijer. It had been renovated since the last time I've been in Michigan. I hardly recognized the store. I did spot a few familiar faces.

Drove by my childhood house (talk about a memory-trip), and finally saw, in-person, the infamous Sterling Heights butthole.

I wish I had more time in Sterling Heights. Friends and childhood landmarks I wanted to catch up with. Perhaps, another time...

I had a dream that my high school sweetheart came back to visit. He texted me to hang out and we went to Starbucks and we planned on watching Doctor Who together. He was the same goofy guy he was in high school, but a touch more mature. It was like all the drama around us back then never happened. He was hanging out with me as a friend, and I was thinking of ways to let him know that I wanted more.

It makes me wonder what it would be like if he came back. Obviously it would never work, we’re two completely different people now than we were back then. I’ve changed so much, I doubt he would even recognise me if he saw me. Still, if he matured and changed into someone I could love now, and who could love me now, what would that be like? What if things were as simple as they were in my dream?

I’ll never know what could have happened between us if we had stuck it out. Maybe that’s a good thing. But it makes me wonder. What if he ever did come back? What would we be like now, as adults?

94 year-old Sgt Mjr Suleiman Juamis from the Galilee Bedouin town of Zarzir is the oldest reservist in the IDF. 

He is also the father of seven combat soldiers and his thirty five grandsons are following the family tradition.  One of his sons founded the first Bedouin pre-army study programme. 

Since October 7th he has been helping to organise other veteran reservists to patrol the area around their town and neighbouring towns, Jewish and Bedouin.

Sandhurst-trained Captain Stuart Kaye, equerry to Princess Anne, has drawn more than a few admiring glances over the years – and recently accompanied his royal mistress to Namibia, where she was attending the funeral of the late president.

Now in his early thirties, Captain Kaye attended King's School Bruton in Somerset before studying politics and modern history at Cardiff University. He went on to do a Master's degree at University College London, starting his career as an intern at the Association of British Insurers, before joining the military in 2018.

The dashing officer has served as Squadron Second-in-Command at Bulford Barracks and Mounted Troop Leader for The Household Cavalry, before being appointed to his equerry role in September 2022.

Princess Anne hand-picked him for his professionalism and aptitude in public duties – though royal watchers have pointed out that he doesn't look half-bad in his ceremonial uniform, complete with silver-plumed helmet, gold tassels and sword, either.
