For the fic ask game: 🎈Describe your style as a writer; Is it fixed? Does it change? And 🍭 Why did you start writing?

🎈Hum... tbh I'm not quite sure what would describe my style but I would say that I'm more character driven than plot driven. I tend to focus on the emotional journey a lot and I'm a huge fan of banter. Which is not very literary. I feel like saying my style is fixed wouldn't be exactly true. There's always room to improve while keeping the little things that make my writing well, mine. Recently I've tried to put more effort in describing settings, adding more details to give context. I feel like the more I write the more I learn and therefore the more my writing changes.

🍭Oooh the honest answer is loneliness. I was a shy kid who didn't make friends easily but I also happen to have a rampant imagination and a lot of things I wanted to say. So, I started to put them on paper. Years later it's still my favorite way to express my thoughts and feelings. It really is a big part of my life that I'm happy to share now on AO3.

(Yeah, I still haven’t made much progress with this one. But time to share it anyway.)

So, we open with a ceremony, specifically the day Azula is getting her bending removed.

Aang still needs to unbendable to manage it, certain. Except he isn’t certain. And everyone gets to see what happens when an Avatar fails to energybend someone and gets corrupted. 

Azula goes unconscious, with her eyes open and glowing. Her spirit invades Aang’s body, which from the outside looks like the Azula colored light seeping into Aang.

Inside Aang’s body, Aang’s psyche is fractured, Azula is stranded in there, and Raava is pissed. She views Azula’s presence as something like an infection and is relentlessly hunting Azula down within the mind scape trying to destroy her. This first time, Azula is saved by Roku.

And after a conversation with great grandpa, Azula learns that while Aang’s psyche in fragmented it’s possible to piece him back together and (hopefully) calm Raava down. At which point, Aang should be able to return her spirit to her body.

Unfortunately, while this is going on “inside”of Aang, in the outside world, Aang’s body is perpetually in the Avatar State and still moving around… as in, alternating between wandering around at seemingly random and destroying things.

Then I’ve been going back and forth on where to go from there.

I’m so glad you asked and I’m about to be so extra.

This fandom is beyond talented and I have many favourites. So I might as well make this an official Prefer-to-be-vilified Wenclair Fic Rec Masterlist… post (name could use some work but you get the idea).

I’m going to try to remember/link all my favourites but I’ll probably (definitely) forget some. the nature of idiosyncrasies by bogteats - One of the fics I managed to catch early on and I was OBSESSED, AU, future fic, they weren’t friends at Nevermore but Enid had a crush, Omegaverse, their dynamic in this is to die for, angsty, smutty, a real and honest portrayal of not only Wenclair but people and love in general, read it, that was a threat, if you already have read it again.

raven in the den, wolf in the nest by Barbara_Lazuli - Canon divergence, fake dating to annoy Esther Sinclair, full honesty I read this awhile ago so I’m not 100% certain what happens but I remember enjoying it, might need to do a re-read.

black marked sun by chasinghours - AU college/university, Wednesday’s Yoko and Bianca’s roommate and Enid becomes infatuated, very cute, a little angsty but nothing crazy, shy Wednesday??? if I remember correctly, gay pining, we love to see it.

Purgatory Would Be Beautiful With You by EmilyWritesStuff - In universe, WEREWOLF MATES (aka the best Wenclair trope), fun and easy read, each chapter is like a slice of their life as mates.

Dance With Wolves by wolfwars - Fake dating BUT Wednesday doesn’t realise that it’s fake (because Enid was vague af), Enid’s pining, Wednesday’s confused, great idea and really well executed.

You Are my Moon by Bee-nut - Fake dating except Wednesday commits to the bit so hard she ends up facing off against Enid’s family aka a pack of werewolves in various dangerous challenges in order to win Enid’s hand, great idea, loved every minute of it.

Old Wounds by Sharpen_your_hatchet - Wenclair reunite years after graduation, less falling in love more realising they were always in love and coming to terms with that, sweet and easy read.

Vortex by ALotOfConfusion - Need a refresher but childhood friends to lovers, little Wednesday wants to study werewolves and I remember enjoying it.

I might try to squeeze in another chapter later today actually 👀 (I didn’t read the OG so no spoilers!)

Whatever This Is… by CautiouslyPessimistic - A NEW FAKE DATING AU! In universe, takes place at Nevermore, only 2 chapters so far, but well written and I’m excited to see more.

Well… That’s Knew by Chaos_of_the_valkyries - Post season 1, Enid presents as a werewolf alpha and your honour they’re mates, protective Enid, Wednesday going soft, apparently I’ve missed the last two updates??? A crime, I will be rectifying that asap.

The Bite that Binds, the Gift that Gives by TieDyeKing - Historical Fantasy-ish AU, Wenclair arranged marriage, immediate connection but they’re being cautious/don’t trust each other, beautiful imagery/world building, an intriguing plot, Esther Sinclair being Esther Sinclair (aka causing problems), only a few chapters but one of my favourites since forever ago, in love with this fic and you should be too.

Symbiotic Relationship by SquishiestRose - AU future fic/they don’t meet at Nevermore, Enid gets kicked out of her pack and ends up desperate enough that she accepts a job working as the live in servant of a woman she’s pretty sure is going to kill her (hint: it’s just Wednesday being her normal off putting self), I’m a sucker for future fics with a very isolated and lonely Wednesday learning to fall in love and this is that.

I've got 4 works total.

2. What's your total AO3 word count?

73,030 words.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Seeing as how I only have 4 works, I'll just mention the fic with the most kudos - my Wenclair fic "At the End of One's Woe" with 760 kudos.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do! I love it when writers respond to my comments (as inane as they are), so I thought I should do the same.

Not only that, but sometimes I'll reply to a comment when there's a new chapter of that work just to kind of nudge them to read it.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

"To Know Yourself."

It's a Chasefield fic and it's the first thing I started writing when I got back into the fanfic space. It's currently sitting at 6 chapters unfinished, but where I left it off is probably the angstiest thing I've explored publicly on my account.

32,000 words, and the poor girls don't even like each other yet.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Either the aforementioned Wenclair fic or my Chasefield smutfic "One and Then the Other." I mean, what's a happier ending then getting to bang the girl you like?

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I've not.

9. Do you write smut?

Yes!

I was very nervous to publish that first smutfic, but I wasn't a stranger to writing things of an explicit nature.

I used to ERP on Gaia ALL THE TIME when I was younger, but it definitely was a different thing to write stuff like that and know it would be going out for everyone to see.

But I had a blast writing it and I don't see myself straying away from smut anytime soon. The only thing I don't like is how I find it very difficult to write smut without tons of preamble beforehand, so that's kind of the one thing holding me back.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've ever written?

I've not.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I'm aware of.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

I've not, though I wouldn't be against it.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I've not, just the casual headcanon talks with friends and mutuals.

14. What's your all time favorite ship?

I love all the Life is Strange ships, but Chasefield holds a very special place in my heart for getting me back into fandom/fanfic as a whole.

Wenclair is also up there - it was very fun to write for an active/ongoing fandom and it was kind of crazy to see how different the response was in that.

For ships that I love, but haven't written for, I'm enamored with Ava/Beatrice from Warrior Nun and Kara/Lena from CW's Supergirl.

I do think a lot of that is that those characters and stories are closer to where I am in age/place in life, while Life is Strange/Wednesday occupies a place where I reminisce on highschool didn'ts and wish-I-would'ves.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

There's a part of me where I see myself never finishing "To Know Yourself." I had originally planned it to be this 30+ chapter thing that takes place over the entire school year, and though I do have an outline of that, it's a huge prospect - especially seeing as how I do have other stories outlined in the LiS world that are significantly shorter.

I do think about it and go back to it, but it's a reality that's possible for sure.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

It's cool if it works. It's all relative on the perspective of the story and whether we are supposed to know what's being said and stuff.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

My first fandom was Inu-yasha and I was writing Sesshomaru/Miroku slashfics on fanfiction.net.

So yeah. I'm old.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

"A Common Cold."

I wrote this fic for a mutual who was sick at the time and it was because of this that we became friends. She's actually one of the people that tagged me to do this, so here's to you Zoey!!

I was not a friend of modern au's until I read this "long-shot" xD. The whole concept is very interesting. I especially like how Sokka is portrayed in this one. His personality and actions make sense and doesn't get influenced by other's. His relationship with Azula is very cute. The families are described very well too.

(IMPORTANT; Since questions might arise: (see above), I change factors for myself. For me, in stories I like, Sokka is only with Azula. He has nothing with anyone else throughout the storytelling. It's the right thing for me. I change/ignore/rewrite it like this for reasons. Otherwise it’s not acceptable for me:) So in this one Sokka does not sleep with anyone in chapter 28 and goes straight to Azula. The rest of the story works perfectly well and same this way too. It fits Sokka‘s character more since he has a high moral. And this way I like him and respect him).

Three Ships: I’m gonna go with three recent ones too cause I’ve had too many throughout my life. Wenclair from Wednesday, Mileven from Stranger Things, and Ben/Addison from Quantum Leap (I don’t think they even have a ship name cause no one’s talking about the new show 😭).

First Ever Ship: If we’re going back to my childhood I think it would be Lizzie/Gordo from Lizzie McGuire, though I wouldn’t have known it was “shipping” then. The first ship I was in a fandom for, I think would be Faberry from Glee. Or maybe Bella/Jacob from Twilight, lol.

Last song: Ditto by New Jeans. Am I still obsessed with this song? Yes. Girl groups have taken over my life no regrets.

Favourite colour: White, but also pink and black are pretty rad.

Last movie/TV show: Went to watch Napoleon with my sister last week! Some of it was filmed in my country so I had to. Not my usual type of movie, but it was pretty decent.

Sweet/spicy/savoury: sweet 100%. I love my desserts and tea with sugar a bit too much.

Last thing you googled: My local bookstore (I went to 3 of their outlets the other day and I couldn't find the book I wanted, so I had to get it online. For anyone curious it's Chain of Thorns by Cassandra Clare, the last book in The Last Hours trilogy. Cannot even express how obsessed I am with this series).

Current obsession: The Last Hours Trilogy by Cassandra Clare. I am in an actual reading slump because I can't get my hands on the last book of the series fast enough. Someone send help!

Bite The Hand - How did you discover boygenius?

(previously asked so copy/paste) Mostly through Phoebe Bridgers! when i discovered her I went through her discography and stumbled upon their music. Upon hearing i thought i heard a familiar voice and turns out that Julien Baker who i already listened to was in the same trio! basically starting at two different ends and meeting in the middle with the wonderful lucy haha!

Idk if you're the right person to ask, but I like your fics and was wondering if you know any other good Azula fics?

I highly recommend the works of @ultranos, @bellatrixobsessed1, who does some of the best modern AUs I've read, AspenRoman and EmberCartwright on AO3, with EmberCartwright having some 110+ Ty Lee + Azula stories that are some of the best in that ship. There's also @momochizoey, and the work "White Lotus Gambit" by Theo on AO3 which is one of my favorite non-Bending AUs.

These are good places to start. :)
