Bats don't know what to do as The Mockingbird and Time Mock them
That Edward Nygma wasn't a real person in the database or that the riddler actually got won one battle over Batman. Batman had tried to snoop through the apartment, but there was mostly always a person there alongside children.
Then there was a trigger of other rogues break out when there actually nobody in the apartment.
Not mentioning the real person behind riddler
Eddie Mockingbird Walker was born out of a 6 year affair between Edwin Walker, strict borderline insane Prisoner Warden, and beautiful red haired Judy Mockingbird, a former cleaning lady who was fired by the wife of Walker after finding out the affair.
Three years later, Judy Mockingbird was later a victim of a break-in and homicide, the only witness being a 3 year old traumatized Eddie hiding in a toy chest doodle with hand drawn puzzle murals, unfortunately that case was later put in the cold case files with not enough suspects.
Eddie was thrown through the wringer of several orphanages for 4 years, only to be refound by his grandmother Grethen Mockingbird, a former retired pianist who was unable to play anymore due a severe case of tendonitis.
A bright Prodigy to music and puzzles boxes made by his grandmother, a rare talent in school to the point the music teacher begged his grandmother Grethen to signed him in a tournament which later led to Eddie into the spotlight with the youngest pianist to make he audience weep with joy that catapult him all the way through several tournaments, winning each one, talkshows, interviews from age 9 to 22 year old.
He was known as Rose Thief of Hearts in the music community, the next living Beethoven they cried out, especially on how many ladies and guys fallen for his sweet, obvious charms and bright red hair that flow down his waist.
Becoming best friends with his half-sister, Madeline Walker, that he rarely met.
Tragedy struck when on The Chopin Competition, Gretchen Mockingbird died from cardiac arrest in the middle of her grandson's performance.
Eddie disappeared, being dragged off by Edwin Walker during the private funeral, which led many people to the theory of the whereabouts of the music Prodigy.
Then, the rest of the data file went missing until a year ago when Eddie Mockingbird appeared once more during a shocking news of adopting his niece and nephews who will stay anonymous after explaining a rather shocking tale with enough explanation on why he was away from media was extremely popular in the music culture.
Batman could only stare at the photo capture by Red Robin on the Batcomputer, tired bag eyed soft smiling Eddie Mockingbird at family diner. His black hair and eyebrow were gone, revealing a natural red hair that had grown down to his neck, wearing casual clothes with his niece, Jasmine Fenton, a teenage red-haired girl speaking with a soft look
A large massive man, named Jack Fenton that looks too alike to Bruce clumsily and failing feeding a little 2 year old baby girl in a toddler chocolates banana fudge ice cream with green bitd, while trying to stopping her twin brother flinging soft sweet peas at a giggling 5 year old toddler trying to air bite the peas.
A disgusted looking young entrepreneur who discoverered a much better energy source for phones that went world-wide, Tucker Foley, who was gagging at a Sam Manson, had a beyond burger and a salad, her middle finger pointing at him saying something to him.
Batman couldn't get near someone like him, or get a hint of his music albums that were also sold out even from 10 year ago to now with new albums that not even Jim Gordon would help him that Riddler is the famous pianist that he had a collection of his music, and he wouldn't let him 'borrow' them.
Jason had just started dating Jasmine, but he wouldn't tell them about what the riddler's plans were to the point of disconnecting and disabling all the trackers on his phones, even the backup ones with Cass and Babs!
He tried booking for Mockingbird concerts only to find out they were all booked to 20XX for the past 6 months after The Chopin Competition, not even attempting bribes, would shorten a 15 mile long waiting list.
This was driving Bruce a little mad as if time itself was mocking him!!

A Marvellous Light promotional art, part of a series for Freya Marske/@fahye's stunning The Last Binding trilogy. See the ones for book 2 and 3 here!
My intend was 'how can I pour as much of my love for the arts and crafts movement in one painting'. It's what Robin would have wanted.
(Please also check out this perfect Edwin song that I listened to for weeks while painting.)
my The Last Binding tag for more of these two softies, and my art tag.

Robin meeting Jack and immediately monologuing about how Hot he is is so funny. like
Tumblr media
Robin’s busy ogling him and going on about fairytale knights. meanwhile what did that paragraph look like outside of Robin’s head?
is Jack standing there like "...hm. my ex showed up unannounced in my bedroom with a hunky beefcake of a man, and the beefcake is standing there unsubtly checking me out. this is a more forthright threesome offer than I'd expect from Edwin." truly what is a slut like jack alston supposed to think.
Tumblr media
“I wouldn't kiss him” yeah okay but you still clearly thought about it, Robin. “he’s a 10 but unfortunately a dick” still means you think he’s a 10
meanwhile a couple chapters ago Robin looked at Edwin and was like “who is this ugly man. why is his face so bad.”

DontOffendTheBees' DBDA Fic Masterpost
Or, essentially, my 2024 Ao3 Wrapped because this show is all I've posted on main all year 😅 But it's nice to be back in the swing of writing and it's been such a rough year, so I'm gonna take a minute now to bask in the glow of my accomplishments 💛
(please note fic links are to Ao3, and fics are locked to be visible to registered users only!)
Ongoing Fics:
Oh, Lonely Bones, Have You Forgotten? (M, 31.9k, ch. 3/4, Charles/Edwin)
A haunting little odyssey of Edwin finding his earthly remains, and figuring out where the hell to go from there. Was hoping to finish this off before the year was out but pain and other projects sadly got in the way! Don't worry, she will be complete one day, I swear!
Somewhere Beyond the Sea (T, 7k, ch 1/5, Charles/Edwin)
A sweet and magical Payneland Ponyo AU, written originally as a Secret Santa gift and then ballooning WAY out of proportion! I'm so, so excited for how this one turns out!
One-shots:
The Kind of Light That Means Just Love (When My Baby Smiles at Me) (T, 1.4k, Charles/Edwin)
Where it all began, a little ficlet I wrote based on a writing group prompt which made me realised how much fun the character voices were to play with. Short and sweet, Charles takes photos of Edwin and finds ways to be cheerful about it even when he doesn't show up in them.
Outside Looking In (T, 3.6k, Charles/Edwin)
Outsider POV fic in which Charles and Edwin are overhead having a very strange but sweet conversation while in their older disguises. While this was an early fic and there's probably some stuff I'd change about the dialogue if I wrote it now, I'm so fond of it and I'm touched by the response to it - ESPECIALLY in the form of Robin's incredible gifset! (this gifset MUST be reblogged by everyone, btw.)
Tumblr media
The Scenic Route (T, 2.1k, Charles/Edwin)
A short, sweet little agency outing and Payneland get-together, written in large part to daydream of a better world of public transportation while I was stuck standing on a cross-country train for two hours.
No Rehearsing It, No Reversing It (T, 9.3k, Charles/Edwin)
Mandatory 'Charles massively overthinks getting together with Edwin' fic, a comedy of errors, featuring foiled kissing schemes, party games, flimsy excuses, and my first fateful foray into discovering how fun Cat King is to write.
’Cause You Cut Through All the Noise (M, 5.3k, Charles/Edwin)
First day of Payneland week, what a time! Edwin helps Charles calm down from a panic spiral with a healthy application of sweet, gently non-sexual dom/sub play, featuring sweet words and soothing games of cat's cradle.
Though We're Strangers 'Til Now (T, 4.7k, Charles/Edwin)
Payneland week day 2. One of my more out-there concepts; in the campy tradition of Saturday night British fantasy telly a la Merlin or Atlantis, Charles and Edwin take the mythological roles of Theseus and Ariadne. This fic exists in large part due to @every-moment-a-different-sound making me aware of Payneland week and asking me to collaborate, and once again, it is COMPULSORY that you go and reblog their GORGEOUS SHOWSTOPPING INCREDIBLE GIFS.
Tumblr media
I Got Sunshine in a Bag (T, 1.2k, Charles/Edwin)
Payneland week day 3. The little script-format fic where (spoiler alert) Charles confesses his feelings to Edwin in the safe haven of his own magical bag of tricks. Sweet and silly!
Something I Can Turn To (T, 2.4k, Charles/Edwin)
Payneland week day 4. The AU where Charles and Edwin are alive in the same era, and helped each other survive the brutality of their teenage years. This one was so lovely to write and there's a little bittersweet hollow in my heart carved out for it. This fic also spawned this absolutely lovely art by @yasartmeme (GO REBLOG, GIVE IT LOVE) and a collection of related stories by several wonderful authors. Every time someone else dips their toe into this universe it warms my chilly little heart.
Tumblr media
If the Shoe Fits, Then I Won’t Try It On (T, 2k, Charles/Edwin)
Payneland week day 5. Another outing with the disguises; pre-canon, Charles and Edwin on a case, getting used to their new magic disguises and constructing dubious backstories.
Spinning on That Dizzy Edge (M, 1k, Charles/Edwin)
Payneland week day 6. Short little flirty, steamy, fun date night with Charles and Edwin in a haunted pub, with a piano <3
Lived My Whole Life Before the First Light (M, 7.3k, Charles/Edwin)
Payneland week day 7. AKA the attic scene, as told in a soulmate AU. A few people who don't generally like soulmate AU's have told me this one plays with the concept in a way they found interesting and refreshing! Suffice it to say there's a happy ending, but not of the sort generally associated with the genre. And this one comes with yet another mandatory-reblog gifset, this one by @mellxncollie, which is SO beautiful and should be in an art gallery and truly such an honour to bestow upon my little words 💛
Tumblr media
We Glimpse Each Other Out of Phase (T, 3.7k, Charles/Edwin)
Another little instalment in the Alive AU of Something I Can Turn To, this time a bittersweet domestic scene on a sleepless night in the kitchen.
Wise Men Build Their Houses on Rocks While the Rest of Us Settle for Skeletons (M, 2.2k, Cat King/Edwin)
First foray into Catwin! (or at least first on the main account 😉) Edwin digs through the Cat King's magical artifacts; and finds an ominous relic of his past lives.
Sink Your Teeth Right Through My Bones, Baby (M, 0.6k, Charles/Edwin)
First of the spotify wrapped inspired ficlets! A little glimpse into Edwin's mind as he and Charles cautiously approach a new dynamic in the bedroom.
Looks Like We’re In for Nasty Weather (T, 0.6k, Charles/Edwin)
Wrapped ficlet. Edwin and Charles brace themselves in the face of an ominous supernatural storm brewing.
Keep Me Warm, Love Me Long, Be My Sunlight (T, 1k, Cat King/Edwin/Charles)
Wrapped ficlet, and preview of the Ghostcat 1920s AU currently in the works by myself, @dear-monday and @tw0-ravens! In a sun-drenched loft in the last days of summer, Thomas contemplates what he has, and when he'll lose it.
Should I Cool It, or Should I Blow? (M, 1.9k, Cat King/Charles)
Wrapped ficlet. The Cat King confronts Charles after another little enemies-with-benefits hook-up for a little clarification on what, exactly, he's doing with his life.
And that about wraps it up for 2024! But I'll keep adding underneath this post when I inevitably write more -- so I'll be seeing you guys in '25! 🥰 Thank you thank you THANK YOU everyone who's shown me such incredible support over this year, this has been such an unbelievably fun fandom experience and I'm excited to sink my teeth into even more and longer fics next year 💛💛💛
My 2024 Writing Stats:
Works Published: 19 Word Count: 89,859 Top 3 fics (by kudos): 1. Outside Looking In 2. No Rehearsing It, No Reversing It 3. The Scenic Route
2025 One-Shots:
Third Contact of a Brief, yet Significant Eclipse (M, 4.2k, Cat King/Edwin)
A spin-off/prequel fic set in the universe of Wunderkammer by dear_monday and two_ravens! A bittersweet little scene at the tail end of museum curator!Edwin's dalliance with the Cat King; a torrid affair which lasted the duration of the 1960s.
Bet Was Made, I Kneeled and Prayed (and Went Off Like a Shotgun) (M, 2.5k, Cat King/Charles)
Wrapped fic, the last of them. Charles and the Cat King enjoy a bit of fun, fighty, no-strings messing around; and the Cat King comes away with more feelings than he bargained for.
Now featuring gorgeous and heartbreaking gifs courtesy of Olly, who simply never misses 💛💛💛💛💛
Tumblr media
Darling, This Place is a Lover's Oasis
(M, 1.4k, Cat King/Edwin)
Valentine's fic; Edwin gets some much-deserved pampering courtesy of Cat King and his ridiculous 1970s oversized bathtub.
Ain't That a Kick in the Head?
(T, 2.3k, Charles/Edwin)
Anniversary fic, getting together: Edwin and Charles have some banter and a thumb war to decide the fate of the tiny office sofa.

okay, don’t get me wrong, the romance in TLB books is absolutely top-tier, but I am also absolutely in love with the dynamic between Robin and Maud.
The Blyth siblings are some of my favourite characters of all time, because they are just so bloody great.
I would say that they were made for each other, but that would not be right. Rather, I think they made themselves perfect for the other.
their parents did nothing but lie, and so they themselves have decided to only tell the truth (especially to each other), even if it is hard.
they were not given regard by their parents unless they could force themselves to be noticed through rebellion (at least in Maud’s case) and so they love and care for each other even when they are apart. Maud goes to Edwin’s family home to see Robin, even though it took effort and she was scared and confused. Robin gave Maud transcriptions of his visions so she would not be alone on the boat, even if he could not be present.
their parents did not love them or think of them as anything worth much love, and so they love each other more than anything.
Continually, they make the conscious choice to be good to each other, because they are determined to be better than their parents. And I love them for it

Queer Adult SFF Books Bracket: Round 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Book summaries and submitted endorsements below:
The Last Binding trilogy (A Marvellous Light, A Restless Truth, A Power Unbound) by Freya Marske
Endorsement from submitter #1: "A trilogy of books set in a magical Edwardian England, the Last Binding series focuses on three queer couples who come together in order to solve a conspiracy threatening all magic. It’s a masterful blending of fantasy, historical fiction, and romance, with a splash of mystery and Wodehousian romp. Expect magical manor house parties with beautiful wallpaper, as well as explorations of power, trust, and what we owe the land. The prose is absolutely gorgeous and evocative. The characters and their emotional arcs form the beating heart of the story, intertwined with beautifully crafted romance. The worldbuilding feels organic and deeply rooted within this hidden magical society. These books are thoughtful, tender, scorching, and fun all at once."
Endorsement from submitter #2: "Utterly fantastic historical fantasy. Each book focuses on a subset of a larger character set. There is an overarching high stake magical plot, as well as different queer romances explored in each individual book."
Robin Blyth has more than enough bother in his life. He’s struggling to be a good older brother, a responsible employer, and the harried baronet of a seat gutted by his late parents’ excesses. When an administrative mistake sees him named the civil service liaison to a hidden magical society, he discovers what’s been operating beneath the unextraordinary reality he’s always known.
Now Robin must contend with the beauty and danger of magic, an excruciating deadly curse, and the alarming visions of the future that come with it—not to mention Edwin Courcey, his cold and prickly counterpart in the magical bureaucracy, who clearly wishes Robin were anyone and anywhere else.
Robin’s predecessor has disappeared, and the mystery of what happened to him reveals unsettling truths about the very oldest stories they’ve been told about the land they live on and what binds it. Thrown together and facing unexpected dangers, Robin and Edwin discover a plot that threatens every magician in the British Isles—and a secret that more than one person has already died to keep.
Fantasy, historical fiction, romance, magic, Edwardian, series, adult
Winter's Orbit by Everina Maxwell
Endorsement from submitter: "Gay princes in space"
While the Iskat Empire has long dominated the system through treaties and political alliances, several planets, including Thea, have begun to chafe under Iskat's rule. When tragedy befalls Imperial Prince Taam, his Thean widower, Jainan, is rushed into an arranged marriage with Taam's cousin, the disreputable Kiem, in a bid to keep the rising hostilities between the two worlds under control.
But when it comes to light that Prince Taam's death may not have been an accident, and that Jainan himself may be a suspect, the unlikely pair must overcome their misgivings and learn to trust one another as they navigate the perils of the Iskat court, try to solve a murder, and prevent an interplanetary war... all while dealing with their growing feelings for each other.

Runaway Royalty 1
Read on AO3
Omegaverse; Prince Stephen is betrothed to Prince Edwin. But as the dawn of their wedding approaches, he takes his life into his own hands and runs away, right into the hands of a band of thieves. A band led by the enigmatic Eddie.
Steve could remember the day his fate had been sealed. It had been when he presented. The moment he was free from the throes of his initial heat, his father told him, although everyone else in the castle had already known. It had been what they were waiting for.
His parents looked elated. Their subjects cheered at the announcement. That in five years time, Prince Stephen would be wed to Prince Edwin.
At first, Steve didn’t know how to feel. He had known his parents were selecting matches from him, from all designations. They were simply awaiting his own to see who would match. And Prince Edwin, who had presented as an alpha just the year before, was perfect. At least in the eyes of the king and queen.
The week of the announcement, he and his twin sister Robin had a time, talking about what the other prince must be like. It wasn’t long after that when a letter came from Steve, addressed from Prince Edwin. It was a very impersonal letter, simply congratulating him on his first heat and saying what an honor it was to be betrothed.
It wasn’t very romantic. But it was just the first letter. And the prince was only a year older than him. So Steve replied, thanking him and expressing anticipation for the day they were to be wed. He waited for months for a response, but there was nothing.
Seasons changed, and Prince Edwin hadn’t another word to say to him. In desperation, Steve had sent one letter during the changing of the seasons, commenting on how the weather was in his kingdom and inquiring how it might be in his own. Steve had more fulfilling conversations talking to the birds he fed.
All Steve was left with were rumors about the prince. Whispers among his own court that got louder as he got older and was allowed to mingle for much later in the evening.
Prince Edwin was a rogue of sorts. He was said to be irresponsible, lazy, and unambitious. It was said that he shirked his duties so often that he was rather useless as a prince. It made Steve less than eager to officially tie their futures together.
“He’s an absolute bore.”
“That is when he’s not talking your ear off. It’s nearly impossible to hold a conversation.”
“And he talks about utter nothingness. It’s as if you’re trying to hold a conversation with a child.”
Years and years of tawdry gossip and yet nothing from his intended, Steve had had enough. He sat in front of his vanity, trying to strengthen his resolve. He would miss his sister. And he was under no illusion that going from cushy palace life to that of an unknown traveler would be easy. But he had no other choice. He would rather be a commoner with freedom than a caged prince.
He couldn’t marry Prince Edwin.
Steve ran a brush through his hair, the locks free and tumbling down his back. If he was going to do this, he had to change his appearance. Steve took a breath as he grabbed the scissors. He breathed in fast about three times.
“Okay, on three”, he said to himself, scissors in one hand, a bunch of hair in the other. He had been growing his hair for as long as he could remember. Whenever his looks got compared to the beauty of his mother, he preened with pride. Now he had to cut that part of himself away.
Snip
After the first cut, the rest went with ease. He cleaned the hair up from the floor, changed into plainer clothes, and then snuck out under cover of night. He and Robin used to sneak out of the castle when they were kids. So getting out was the easy part. The hard part would be never coming back. When he was a good distance away, at the tree and Robin used to climb, he took a final look.
His forlorn sigh turned into a shriek when something dropped down from the tree.
“Stifle yourself!”, Robin hissed, covering his mouth.
He licked her hand, getting her off as she wretched and took a step back. Both were confused to their roots.
“What are you doing here?”, he asked.
“Leaving with you”, Robin said after wiping her hand on her pants. “What did you do to your hair?”, she reached out and touched it.
“I had to look unrecognizable. But you can’t just leave.” Robin’s rut had started pretty much right after his heat did. As an alpha, she was the heir to the throne. His parents would send out entire armies to search for her.
“You’re insane if you think I’m letting you leave without me. You need me.”
Steve didn’t doubt that. But he also couldn’t let his sister throw her life away just for him. “Robin, Our parents will-”
“They’ll either figure something out or they won’t. But this is our lives. Yours and mine. And I choose to live mine with you, wherever you go. Besides, you need your big sister, you can’t even handle your own hair without me.”
“I am older than you by five whole minutes, don’t start trying to rewrite history now”, Steve argued.
“Well, technically Prince Stephen is five minutes older than Princess Robin. We’ve gotta change our story if we’re going to blend in”, she said as she started on the trail away from the castle.
Steve followed, knowing he wouldn’t be able to change her mind and not wanting to anyway. He had been afraid of leaving a part of himself in that place to carry his half of the burden of royalty. But she came, able to read him and know his thoughts sometimes even before himself.
They had come into this world together and now they were going into the next together.
Little did they know, that their paths would soon cross with a band of robbers…

Not my usual kind of post but I just finished A Marvellous Light and I need to rant a little because, honestly, it is now one of my favourite books and I really want more people to read it!
Edwin and Robin -and all the characters in general- are the highlight of this story: they are as lovable as they are tredimensional and well written protagonists and I really enjoyed how their interests define their POVs (Ex. You can really see Robin's artistic side in the way he describes things without the constant, explicit, reminder of art being one of his passions)
I loved the intimate scenes because, apart from being really well written, they give the reader so much information about the characters' personalities and their past traumas (I'm looking at you, Edwin 👀 -ILY)
I found the book really well paced: no unnecessary drama or scenes dragged for pages and pages without purpose and all the explanations fit perfectly into the dialogues without "breaking" the narration
I want more Jack Alston. He's a asshole, but I really want to see his ✨bad attitude✨ used for good
I can't wait to read the second book (why does the hardcover version cost so much?!) and I really hope I'll get to know more about the magic system because it's still a little confusing to me😅
PS. I love how well Robin and Edwin match each other's freak
PS.2. English is not my first language so... apologies for any mistake

not a single person cares but unfortunately I’m hyperfixated so that won’t stop me posting the last binding writing <33
basically I wanted to draw this concept, did not have the ability and remembered I’m also a writer and should write smaller things more <3
There’s an old house, out in the English countryside. It’s surrounded by sprawling land, dominated by creeping vines that infest cracks and dust that has settled into the air itself. There’s a beehive and a garden and a tree on a hill and something about those three things hangs in the air like a myth fighting desperately to not be forgotten.
The house belongs to someone. Someone who inherited it from someone else, who tries to look after it like it was looked after in days gone by but the house is large and the time for such manors long past. It’s a memory, a creature trapped in amber and if you listen closely, sometimes you can hear it’s heartbeat still.
The house has stories, like every good house does. Stories about frozen lakes and the way magic used to be and about faeries and bizarre things that can’t possibly be true. Names are attached to the stories, but they’re impersonal. Dusty words with nothing but the ghost of a breath and a laugh, if you’re still listening close enough.
The house has an attic. The attic holds life, the way it used to be. There’s a walking stick and some journals, books with faded scribbles down the margin, old waistcoats and shirts that have managed to survive for so long untouched. There’s a box in that attic too. A box that holds photographs and the someone who owns the house know will find them someday, sitting back on their heels in the old attic of an old house and maybe they’ll smile at what they see.
The first photograph might have been black and white once, but it’s faded to a sickly sort of yellow, edged with the brown of a bruise. It shows two young women in the middle of four men. It’s as impersonal as the names given to the stories. On turning it over, the someone will find a note written in a carefully swooping hand.
Sir R. Blyth, Mr E. Courcey, Miss M. Maud, Miss V. Debenham, Lord J. Hawthorn, Mr A. Ross, 1910
The names won’t mean very much. Each individual looks hardly different than the last, though the man identified as Sir R. Blyth has the same round face and twinkling eyes as the Miss M. Maud. Siblings perhaps, though it’s hard to think of such a thing existing so long ago. The man on the left - Mr A. Ross, according to the note - is an odd one out, with the way his clothes are patched and his grin slants. Mr E. Courcey is faded of colour, the Lord so stern he must not be a real person.
These aren’t real people, the someone will think as they brush their thumb over the faded image. Too stiff, too emotionless. They didn’t live and breath here, did they? They can’t have. Nothing but letters that form names and ink that forms faces.
The second photograph is different. It’s tucked into the bottom of the box, almost like it wants to remain unnoticed. It’s not different at first glance; still faded and bruised, taken at the same time as the first image but it’s different nonetheless.
The colourless man has more of a smile, the Sir R. Blyth gazing at him like he’s forgotten about the camera entirely. One arm loops around his waist where before a distinct gap existed between them. Next to them, Miss M. Blyth is pressing a kiss to the cheek of the other young woman, who’s mouth is open not in a smile but in a laugh, a hand fluttering over her chest. Next comes the unpleasant looking Lord, who’s mouth has been pulled up as though on a string. One of his hands rests on the shoulder of the Mr A. Ross - he in return is scowling up, arm raised mid swat but something about it lacks venom.
There’s writing on the back of this photograph too:
Robin and Edwin, Maud and Violet, Alan and Jack, 1910
Maybe they’re smiling at whoever took the picture. At a comment made or face pulled, the way you might encourage a smile from a child. There’s comfort in this image, trust, care and it breathes life into the coolness of the attic. It makes the someone think. About arms around waists and kisses on cheeks and the stories that got lost instead of told, hidden in the bottom of boxes at the back of attics.
There’s something sad about that, in a poetic way. Something close to tragic, but the stories don’t have just have names anymore. They have faces, have the hints of lives and if they can only be seen this way, in light filtered through a dusty attic window then the someone will hope that that’s good enough for them.
For the man called Robin, who must see the stars themselves in the one called Edwin. For the dimpled young Maud and the way the woman called Violet is laughing like she’s made up of scraps of the sun. For Alan - the odd one out - who scowls like he’s trying to decipher the way the moon is shining through the Lord with such a boyish name as Jack.
They’ll tuck the picture into their pocket and hope against hope that it’s good enough for them.

the way ‘the last binding’ series portrays queer relationships is so beautiful and i need to read more books like them— more books where the characters being queer isn’t the main highlight, they’re just in love as anyone else would be.
i need a robin to my edwin (though i am no where near as smart as edwin is). </3

Crack Fic Poll
So the school year is over and I discovered rather than a long vacation I am unemployeed due to budget cuts.
Need to drown my focus in crack fanfiction. Which of these werid little crossovers/AU does anyone want to see
Options are:
Power Ranger Multi Cross - Zordon needs five overbearing and overemotional individuals. And sure the grid could grab the people right there in Angel Grove. Or it could maximize the good done by pulling from the multiverse of people who would benefit from a second chance at life (in most cases literally). Red Ranger Charles Rowland, Blue Ranger Edwin Payne, (Dead Boy Detectives) Black Range Danny Fenton (Danny Phantom), Yellow Ranger Adam (Frankenstein), Pick Ranger Grace Garlond (Shadow Hearts: From the New World) (And her +1, the souls of her murderous boyfriend she dragged along with her) and future Green Ranger Jason Todd, fresh from the lazarus pit, has not had time to confirm what Talia said about his Dad replacing him, and has to figure out his moral compass on his own.
WeirdWolf (Batman)- Jason Todd aka the Red Hood has borken into Titan's Tower to teach a little birdy a lesson. Except Tim Drake is almost completely feral, not Robin, and oh yeah the real Jason Todd is here and some kind of werewolf? What the Hell is going on?
Of Fire and Dragons(Avatar the Last Airbender/Overwatch)-A weird dimensional glitch switched Zuko and Genji. And in this strange Spirit-touched place with talking gorillas, and new eyes that glow red, Zuko has never felt more out of his depth. But the longer he stays, the more he questions if he truly wants to go home. Meanwhile former Overwatch Black Ops member, Genji, thought taking out Firelord Ozai would end this war without children needing blood on their hands but he might have just escalated things. Oops.
Side Effects Include (Splatter House)- Rick has saved Jennifer from the Corrupted, detached from the Terror Mask, and returned to normal. He...has returned to normal, right? Yeah it turns out turning into a combat monster was Masks doing, but beefing himself up by feeding on necrotic energy? Yeah that was a Rick choice and some side effects may occur.
When Cousins Come Calling(Danny Phantom/Superman/Freakazoid) - Danny can keep his secret from his parents no problem. But when his Dad's brother and his wife go on a vacation and leave their sons Duncan and Dexter and at the same time his Mom's younger sister asks if cousin Jimmy can stay with them for a while because Metropolis is getting too dangerous, the full house might make it a little difficult.
A Dangerous Mind (Power Rangers/The Shadow)- Billy Cranston didn't think much about the cousin he hadn't known about coming to visit. He certainly doesn't think he'd about to uncover multiple generations worth of family trauma, including that he's far from the first Cranston to be a superhero.
Vagabonds(My Hero Academia/Sentinels of the Multiverse)- The Mistgates pulled all manner of heroes and villains though it in an attept to save the Multiverse by destroying Oblivaeon. But as Fey Diamond died to her power, they destabilized and dragged in those with the potential to become such. In which Izuku, Todoroki, and Toga get zapped across the multiverse by an errant mistgate at a young age and are raised by Darkwatch, with occasional uncle Ansel G. Moreau
Of Soulstone and Spiders (Malifaux/Into the Spiderverse)- Miles Morales took a wrong turn somewhere and ended up lost in the multiverse, in some weird eldritch horror Wild West place. Taken in by a performing troupe who operate as smugglers, he needs to figure out who are his allies, where he stands, and hopefully how to get back.

Green Rider by Kristen Britain (1998-present)
On her long journey home from school after a fight which will surely lead to her expulsion, Karigan G'ladheon ponders her future as she trudges through the immense forest called Green Cloak. But her thoughts are interrupted by the clattering of hooves as a galloping horse bursts from the woods, the rider slumped over his mount's neck, impaled by two black-shafted arrows. As the young man lies dying on the road, he tells Karigan that he is a Green Rider, one of the legendary messengers of the king, and that he bears a "life and death" message for King Zachary. He begs Karigan to carry his message, warning her not to read it, and when she reluctantly agrees, he makes her swear on his sword to complete his mission "for love of country." As he bestows upon her the golden winged-horse brooch which is the symbol of his office, he whispers on his dying breath, "Beware the shadow man..."
Karigan's promise changes her life forever. Pursued by unknown assassins, following a path only her horse seems to know, and accompanied by the silent specter of the original messenger, she herself becomes a legendary Green Rider. Caught up in a world of deadly danger and complex magic, compelled by forces she cannot understand, Karigan is hounded by dark beings bent on seeing that the message, and its reluctant carrier, never reach their destination.

The Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton (1936-1985)

The Last Binding by Freya Marske (2021-2023)

The day that Ash meets Kaisa, the King's Huntress, her heart begins to change. Instead of chasing fairies, Ash learns to hunt with Kaisa. Though their friendship is as delicate as a new bloom, it reawakens Ash's capacity for love-and her desire to live. But Sidhean has already claimed Ash for his own, and she must make a choice between fairy tale dreams and true love.

The Deep by Rivers Solomon with Daveed Diggs, William Hutson, and Jonathan Snipes (2019)
Yetu holds the memories for her people—water-dwelling descendants of pregnant African slave women thrown overboard by slave owners—who live idyllic lives in the deep. Their past, too traumatic to be remembered regularly, is forgotten by everyone, save one—the historian. This demanding role has been bestowed on Yetu.
Yetu remembers for everyone, and the memories, painful and wonderful, traumatic and terrible and miraculous, are destroying her. And so, she flees to the surface, escaping the memories, the expectations, and the responsibilities—and discovers a world her people left behind long ago.
Yetu will learn more than she ever expected to about her own past—and about the future of her people. If they are all to survive, they’ll need to reclaim the memories, reclaim their identity—and own who they really are.
