Drugi Polski post:
W zeszłym tygodniu zaczęłam słuchać Rosyjskich piosenek. Najbardziej tych starszych. Ruski to ładny język.
Tumblr media
Moja ulubiona Rosyjska piosenka to 🎵 Александра przez Татьяна Никитина и Сергей Никитин
Angielskie tłumaczenie jest poniżej/The english translation is underneath
Second Polish post:
Last week I started listening to Russian songs. Mostly the older ones. And recently I also watched a Russian movie, "Moscow does not believe in tears" (it was amazing!). About a year ago I wrote down the Russian alphabet in a notebook, but I never even started learning it. Today I learnt the whole alphabet!! I don't know much much I'm planning to learn; I've got exams in April and May, we're planning on going to Italy sometime in the summer again and I'd like to learn some Italian this time. But we'll see! Russian is a nice language.
My favourite Russina song is 🎵 Александра by Татьяна Никитина и Сергей Никитин

Boycotts of Putin's Inauguration and Victory Parade. How Did Victory Fanaticism Appear? Screening of the Film "The Hardest Hour."
You are watching news from the weekly rally at the Russian Embassy in Lisbon. Today is May 11, 2:30 PM.
The ambassadors of the USA, Great Britain, Germany, and many other countries did not participate in the inauguration of Vladimir Putin on May 7. https://apnews.com/article/russia-putin-president-inauguration-ukraine-355bd36a2e833800187af848dc24a7dc
On that day, Yuri Ushakov, an assistant to the Russian President, remarked that the ambassadors from Western countries who did not attend the ceremony had forgotten whom they were accredited to and why they are in Moscow. https://www.vedomosti.ru/politics/articles/2024/05/07/1036019-posli-chetireh-stran-bili
On May 9, the Victory Parade took place on Red Square. Standing with Putin on the podium were the heads of nine countries: Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Cuba, Guinea-Bissau, and Laos. https://www.interfax.ru/moscow/959674
The number of guests at the parade has dwindled over the years. In 1995, representatives from over 50 foreign countries attended the celebrations. By 2005, for the 60th anniversary of the end of the war, representatives from about 30 countries and international organizations were present. https://rtvi.com/news/glavnokomanduyushchiy-i-gosti-kto-nablyudal-za-p0aradami-pobedy-v-noveyshey-istorii-rossii/
In his speech on May 9, Vladimir Putin called Victory Day the most important holiday in Russia. https://www.mk.ru/politics/2024/05/09/putin-nazval-den-pobedy-samym-glavnym-rossiyskim-prazdnikom.html
Previously, this holiday was celebrated "with tears in our eyes," remembering the fallen and wishing for peace.
On May 8, on "The Breakfast Show," anthropologist Alexandra Arkhipova discussed how the "Immortal Regiment" movement has made people romanticize war and how the phrase "Never Again" has turned into a form of victory fanaticism. She explained, "They constantly tell you that somewhere in the West, they don't believe in our victory. So we must increasingly demonstrate our pride together. By portraying soldiers with our bodies, we feel proud… The result is that we are proud of the war." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jI5ukZnNMA
On Thursday, May 23, at 7 PM, in Lisbon at the Sputnik bar on Rua Andrade 41A, there will be a charity screening of the documentary film "The Hardest Hour." This film, created by Ukrainian director and screenwriter Alan Badoev with the 1+1 Ukraine channel, is based on videos sent by 12,000 Ukrainians from their phones and DVRs. https://maps.app.goo.gl/uQseM5w78gyvvvoF7
Journalist Dmitry Gordon, in an interview with Alan Badoev released on March 7, described the film as "very dynamic, very accurate… You made the audience, me in particular, empathize." Alan also shared in the same interview how the screening of this film at NATO went: "I always know what this film does to people because it is honest… They told us, 'You don’t understand what you did—people here are all cynical, they are engaged in war.' And they hugged and asked, 'How do heroes do?'" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6a9DQj1_yuM&t=6591s
I watched this film with friends two weeks ago, and I believe that Russians definitely need to see it. This film is not so much about war, but about life—life as it was before February 24, 2022, and what it became for tens of millions of people. We think we see this war every day, but to truly understand how Ukrainians experience it, you need to communicate with them or see it through their eyes in this film. It even includes scenes from Portugal. Be sure to come. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJN1XLz2Ypo

2024 Reading Goals & Plans
Tumblr media
Welp, I'm late! My ADHD acting up as usual, it seems.
Anyway, I'll be talking about my 2024 plans!
Aaalrighty, the year has started, so let's get right into it!
So basically, I'm doing the 52-a-year challenge (aka, read one VN a week) for all of my reading media (VNs, books, and manga).
I thought about including anime and cinema in general, but it'd be way too much.
Visual Novels
Tumblr media
Phew... That's a lot!
I was already reading Umineko back in 2023, but I want to finish it all by the first week of February. Oh, and Little One is one I need to finish as well; it's more of a stats sim, so I'll have to use my brain orz
They are in weekly order, so with exception of Umineko and The Divine Speaker, just think of me reading through them weekly!
Manga
Tumblr media
In theory, I'd have read Goodnight Punpun (Vol.1) by now but I haven't been so lucky! I'll try to read through half of it today and the other half tomorrow, but oh well.
Books
Tumblr media
Okay, I got lazy and it shows. This grid is a bit different: I'm reading TWO books weekly. One is shorter (less than 300 pages) and the other is a bit longer, but not too long (around 300~400 pages).
You might be asking: but why do they stop midway? Well... I forgot to take into account that I'm reading TWO chonkers this year: Kafka on the Shore and The Old Curiosity Shop. For those two, I'm diving them into weekly quarters. For the rest of the year, I'm reading medium-sized books.
Anime
I haven't made any specific plans for anime... HOWEVER!
I did spend days filling my 2TB HD with all the anime I still want to watch and maybe rewatch. For self-hype, I will list the ones I'd like to (re)watch! 12 picks, one per month.
Ocean Waves
Wolf Children
Tokyo Godfathers
In This Corner of the World
Inuyasha (trying to finish rewatching it)
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Serial Experiments Lain
Trigun (the OG one)
16bit Sensation: Another Layer
Jormungand
Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt
Michiko & Hatchin
Cinema
Same thing: 12 picks, one per month.
Avatar: The Last Airbender
The House
Love, Death & Robots
Adventures from Moominvalley
Summer of 85
A Very English Scandal
The Handmaiden
Funeral Parade of Roses
Carol
Merlin
Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears
Life Is Beautiful
Games
12 picks yada yada yada—
Alicemare (replay)
DELTARUNE
Bayonetta (I need to finish this fr fr)
Moonlight Ghost (replay)
Mistrick
Who’s Lila?
The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe
Inscryption
My Sticker Book
Hades
Faith
Pocket Mirror
Aaaand that's about it! I'm super excited for all of these!!
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧ ✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧ ✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧ ✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧ ✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧ ✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
Thank you for reading it all to the end! Hey, kind stranger! Would you be so kind and consider giving me a little tip? It can be as low as 3 bucks and it’d make a huuuuuge difference!! If you tip 10€ (or higher), you can dictate my next read and be credited (if you’d like) on that review! Have a nice day!!

You've told us that in MAU Yelena takes the job in Russia and she spends that first christmas away but how does that go down? Because theyre probably together for a while before she goes away, right? Do they do long distance? How does it work? How does that coversation go?
“You think she’s gonna want the chocolate or the strawberry, momma?…I really want the strawberry.”
Kate smirks and shakes her head as she juggles the two coffee cups, pastry bags, and keys in her hand while walking down the long hallway leading down to their and Yelena’s doors.
“I’m sure if you tell her that you want the strawberry, she’ll let you have it.”
“But I don’t want her to know I want it.”, Ereka retorts with a whine.
“Then I can’t help you there, Ereka.” Kate gripes back, more than a little frustrated at the five-year-old.
The pair arrive at Yelena’s door and Ereka looks up at Kate expectantly.
“Ri, I’m not going to miraculously grow a third arm. You can see my hands are full. Knock, please.”
“I don’t wanna knock, mommy. You knock.”
“Ereka, you’re really testing the limits of my patience today. Knock on the door, please.” Ereka rolls her eyes and stomps up to the door, then knocks. Faintly. “Harder. Like you actually want her to hear you.” Ereka knocks again. Barely louder this time. “I really wish you could retroactively sue birth control companies.”
Kate whispers as she shuffles the things she’s holding to free a hand and knock on the door herself.
Nothing.
Kate knocks again.
Nothing.
Kate knocks a third time.
A deep voice booms far from inside when Kate is about to strike a fourth time.
“Coming!”
Kate and Ri look at each other confused. Moments later, the apartment door opens and a shirtless, short black man opens the door.
“Hello?”
“Hi? What are you doing in Yelena’s apartment?”
“I’m sorry?” The man responds, confused. “I just checked into this AirBnB this morning. I flew into New York a couple hours ago. I don’t know a Yelena.”
Kate stares blankly, then steps back and smiles politely.
“Sorry. Enjoy your stay.”
Kate’s mind is reeling. She hastily hands the pastry bags to Ereka and moves the few feet down to their apartment door and struggles to open it while still holding the two coffees she’d bought for her and her now seemingly missing girlfriend. Once the door is open, she pushes her daughter inside, rushes to the kitchen, sets the cups down, and digs for her phone in her oversized purse. She quickly dials Yelena’s phone.
“Mom.”
Busy tone.
“Mom.”
Number disconnected.
“Mom.”
All the color drains from Kate’s face.
“Mommy.”
Kate loses it.
“Ereka, I need you to leave me alone for five minutes! Five minutes of peace is all I’m asking for! Please! I need you to go to your room and give me five minutes of quiet!”
Ri’s eyes well up with tears and she runs off.
Kate opens her email and shoots Yelena an email.
“Some man is in your AirBnb. Your phone is disconnected. What the fuck is going on?”
Kate sends it off.
A few hours pass, then Kate gets an email response.
“I’m too much of a coward for this to be a phone call, so I’m typing this from the Moscow airport. I just landed. I had to take the job, Kate. I could write as many paragraphs full of reasons why I had to take it as I can write of reasons why I wish I were in bed between the two of you right now. It’s complicated. It doesn’t mean every word I said to you wasn’t true. It doesn’t mean I don’t love that little girl more than I ever thought possible. I’m sorry. I need you to tell her that for me. Please. I need you to tell her that I’m sorry.
I do love you. I hope you believe that.
Y”
