Morozko from the 1924 russian movie "Morozko" by Yuri Zhelyabuzhskiy.
Morozko (Grandfather Frost) is a spirit of frost or sometimes a wizard of winter. Since the 19th century this character has changed, and now he is a symbol of the New Year holiday. Morozko is similar to Santa Claus in his modern role in russian culture.
Honestly, I made this post only to promote the movie. You must see it, it's good. Morozko of 1924 is a silent movie, you can just read the tale to understand what is happening on the screen. The movie is basically a horror (but not really scary, not in modern sense at least), and the plot of the movie is closer to the fairy tale than the plot of the 1964 version.
Преступление и наказание (Crime and Punishment) (1970)
Georgy Taratorkin and Aleksandr Pavlov as Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov and Dmitry Prokofyich Razumikhin
Aelita, Queen of Mars / Aleksandra Peregonets as Ikhoshka
I think of this as "the bumblebee costume" because of the striped body and the headdress that reminds me of antennae. Ikhoshka is Queen Aelita's favorite servant, and she wears this elaborate framework "skirt" over a pair of baggy pantaloons. She also has ballet slippers, a chunky necklace, and something like a battery pack at her waist.
The costumes for the Martian sequences, designed by Aleksandra Ekster, are outlandish and highly imaginative. This movie was said to be a strong influence on Metropolis. You can find several versions of it free to watch on YouTube.
Welcome to the Russian Period Dramas Bracket everyone! The order of things will look something like this:

Once all polls for a round close, polls for the following round will begin posting within 24-48 hours (depending on mod availability). You may send in asks with “propaganda” if you wish.
Round 1 matches are listed out below for a full text version. Note that titles are listed in the format: English tittle (official/”official”* or translated) | transliterated title. W zeszłym tygodniu zaczęłam słuchać Rosyjskich piosenek. Najbardziej tych starszych. Ruski to ładny język.
Moja ulubiona Rosyjska piosenka to 🎵 Александра przez Татьяна Никитина и Сергей Никитин

Second Polish post:
Last week I started listening to Russian songs. Mostly the older ones. And recently I also watched a Russian movie, "Moscow does not believe in tears" (it was amazing!). About a year ago I wrote down the Russian alphabet in a notebook, but I never even started learning it. Today I learnt the whole alphabet!! I don't know much much I'm planning to learn; I've got exams in April and May, we're planning on going to Italy sometime in the summer again and I'd like to learn some Italian this time. But we'll see! Russian is a nice language.
My favourite Russina song is 🎵 Александра by Татьяна Никитина и Сергей Никитин
Well, the thing is... The whole movie was set up in America and there was a certain club scene with a loud, a bit muffled, oddly familiar song playing.
Oddly familiar, perhaps, because I listen to these a lot...
Catched this one on the flight, and of course it turned out to be a midwest emo band. Fucking midwest emo in a postsoviet russian movie.
INSANE. Also the song has that undeniable vibe, just take a listen.
Despite of CLEARLY being audible in the scene, it never released on "Брат 2" OST CDs alongside some ukrainian music, aside from never releasing on any streaming platforms. Yet, the whole album by Sleeping For Sunrise can be found in the random places of the web, which is pretty odd. :(
Also, I must say that during a huge chunk of a film Danila wears that midwest emo-ass sweater which I appreciate.
