TE AMO MEANS I LOVE YOU. / S.REID / SUMMARY - Spencer doesn’t want you to feel homesick…
PAIRING: brazilian!reader x spencer reid / w/c: 1.3k / fluff
a/n: req so fire I don’t have anything to add😭 anon req here
Tumblr media
You can barely feel your legs by the time you step through the front door. Everything aches—your back, your feet, your head. The combination of a long shift, missed meals, and a pounding homesickness you didn’t even realize had crept up on you leaves you disoriented and dazed. You drop your bag to the floor with a heavy thud and let your shoes fall off wherever they land.
“Spence?” you call out weakly, unsure if he’s even home.
No response.
Your heart dips. It’s silly—you’re not even mad. You just really wanted to collapse into his arms and let him talk about some obscure historical fact you won’t remember while you bury your face in the scent of his cardigan.
Dragging your feet forward, you turn toward the kitchen, hoping he might’ve left a note or something.
But what you see stops you cold.
It’s not just that Spencer is home—he’s in the living room, kneeling in front of the stereo, surrounded by what must be dozens of vinyl records and CDs. Some still in shrink wrap. Others open, their contents splayed out delicately on the rug, like he’s trying to solve a musical puzzle.
He doesn’t notice you at first. His long fingers are carefully placing one of the records into a sleeve. His lips move silently, probably reading the liner notes. You know that face—the one he makes when he’s concentrating too hard to hear anything around him.
You step closer, confused and stunned. “Spencer… what is all this?”
He finally looks up, startled, and then a wide, bashful smile spreads across his face. “You’re home early.”
You scoff, dropping your keys onto the counter and squinting at the organized chaos on the floor. “No, I’m actually late. I had to cover for Clara because her babysitter bailed. What is all this?”
Spencer stands slowly, brushing invisible lint from his pants. There’s a faint smudge of dust on his nose that makes him look boyish. “I was going to surprise you. I wasn’t finished yet.”
You blink. “With what? An entire music store?”
He chuckles and takes your hand, gently tugging you down to sit with him on the floor. “Do you remember a couple weeks ago, you said you missed home? That nothing here really sounded like Brazil?”
You nod slowly, your throat tightening. It had been an offhand comment, murmured into his chest after a stressful day. You hadn’t even realized he’d taken it to heart.
“Well,” he says, excitement flickering behind his soft eyes, “I did some research. A lot, actually. I talked to a Brazilian record collector online, and I found a store that imports vintage and modern music. Some of it’s digital, but I thought it would be more special to have the real thing. Something you can hold and play and… feel.”
He gestures to the piles. “There’s MPB—Chico Buarque, Gal Costa, Caetano Veloso. Some Bossa Nova—João Gilberto, Elis Regina. A few funk carioca and samba records too. And—oh!—I found a Tropicália collection from the ’60s. It was hard to find, but the guy I talked to helped me out.”
You’re frozen, eyes moving from album cover to album cover, tears threatening to blur everything. He says each name so carefully, stumbling a little over the pronunciations but clearly trying.
“I thought maybe we could build a little library,” he continues, a bit shy now, like he’s not sure he’s done the right thing. “A musical version of home. For you.”
Your lip trembles.
“Oh no,” Spencer says, eyes going wide. “I didn’t mean to upset you.”
You launch yourself at him before he can say anything else, arms wrapping tightly around his neck as you press your face into his shoulder.
He immediately holds you back, murmuring, “It’s okay, it’s okay,” even though you’re not crying from sadness.
“I’m not upset,” you whisper, voice thick. “I’m just… I’m so tired. And I missed you. And then I walk in and you’ve done this?”
He chuckles softly into your hair. “You sounded so sad that day. I didn’t know how to fix it. But I thought… maybe music would help.”
You pull back just enough to look at him. “This is the sweetest thing anyone’s ever done for me.”
He blushes, his hands settling on your waist. “I wanted you to feel like you belonged. Even when you’re far away from where you came from.”
Your heart stutters.
You’ve always loved how brilliant Spencer is, how his mind never stops moving. But it’s this—his softness, his attentiveness, the way he listens—that makes you fall in love with him again and again.
“I love you,” you whisper.
His smile deepens. “I love you too.”
You glance at the records again, something bubbling up in your chest. “Did you really get funk carioca?”
He grins. “Yes, and I regret it already. Some of those lyrics…”
You burst out laughing. “It’s not all inappropriate, I swear.”
Spencer raises an eyebrow. “Are you sure? Because one of those songs taught me three Portuguese curse words I didn’t know before.”
You fall back against the couch, giggling uncontrollably. “Now you’re culturally enriched.”
“I’m something, that’s for sure.”
He stands and offers you a hand. “Come on. You haven’t even seen the best part.”
You let him pull you up, and he guides you to the little corner of the living room you’d both half-abandoned for months. It had been your reading nook at one point, but life got busy. The chair became a coat rack. The little table sat empty. But now, it’s glowing with soft light from a string of fairy lights. A portable record player sits on the table, already spinning a vinyl softly through the air.
The opening notes of “Águas de Março” float into the room—gentle, warm, familiar.
Your breath catches. “That’s… my dad used to play this when we were cleaning on Sundays.”
Spencer squeezes your hand. “I hoped it would feel like home.”
You sit down in the chair, letting the music wash over you, and for the first time in what feels like weeks, you relax.
Spencer kneels in front of you again, resting his arms on your knees. “Want to teach me the lyrics?”
You glance down at him, grinning. “You want to sing in Portuguese?”
“I want to impress your grandma next time we video call,” he admits sheepishly.
You laugh. “She already thinks you’re a genius.”
“I’d like her to also think I’m charming.”
You hum thoughtfully. “Okay. Repeat after me: ‘É pau, é pedra, é o fim do caminho…’”
He repeats it, tripping over the accent.
You giggle and gently correct him, pressing a soft kiss to his forehead. “Better.”
“Again?”
“‘É um resto de toco, é um pouco sozinho…’”
He says it again, a little smoother this time.
You don’t even notice how much time passes. You teach him line by line, each repetition followed by laughter and a kiss, until your cheeks hurt from smiling.
Eventually, you end up sprawled together on the rug, your head on his chest, your hand resting over his heart. The music continues to spin, one record after another, creating a bubble of nostalgia and love and safety around you both.
Spencer’s fingers draw soft patterns on your arm. “Do you think it helps?” he murmurs. “The music?”
You nod against him. “It feels like I’m not so far away. Like my past and my present are holding hands.”
He presses a kiss to your temple. “Then it was worth every penny.”
“You’re too good to me.”
He hums. “I think you underestimate how much I love you.”
You smile, eyes fluttering shut.
No one had ever loved you quite like this before—with thoughtfulness, with quiet gestures, with an understanding that homesickness isn’t always loud or obvious, but it’s there. Like a shadow.
And somehow, Spencer had found the perfect way to bring the sun back.
Later that night, as you fall asleep to the soft hum of Caetano Veloso playing from your new collection, Spencer whispers, “I think I’ll start learning Portuguese.”
You’re half-asleep, but you hear him.
“Why?” you murmur, curling closer.
“So I can talk to you in your first language. The way you dream.”
And you think, just before sleep pulls you under:
This man is my home, too.

One Piece characters Headcanons part #1 ✌️
>>>DON'T REPOST MY ART<<<
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Silly little sketches of Shanks' Headcanons that I made during the morning. Just a warning that there will be a lot of text below, feel free to read if you want!!
========
• The famous "ugly charming guy". After all, I never considered Shanks a soap opera heartthrob, why, guys???!? Come on, this guy was a fool before the Time Skip and he gets a Mewing and a huge shape when he's a DRUNKER FULL OF JOKES?!
• Not very evident gray hairs. (He's almost forty, man. Age has caught up with him)
• A thin, unshaven beard (I DOUBT THAT SOMEONE LIKE SHANKS CARE MUCH ABOUT APPEARANCE AND VANITY)
• Very visible body hair (Especially on the forearms and thighs)
• Beer belly (I THINK I DON'T EVEN NEED TO Elaborate, RIGHT PEOPLE??? FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. WHAT'S THE POINT OF A GUY WHO FILLS HIS ASS WITH SAKE AND BEER BEING SO RIPPED?? NOT EVEN A LITTLE BELLY?! Hey Shanks, you're already hacking with that haki of yours, let's take it easy)
• Subtle freckles on his face and body.
• Light sunburn on the face and torso (And we're talking about pirates who spend 12 hours a day in the sun. WHAT'S THE LOGIC WITH PEOPLE BEING WHITE AND ANEMIC, THEN TOEI???)
• He always needs someone to carry his body when the hangover hits hard the next day.
• Sertanejo/Pagode and MPB music lover (OH GUYS, ARE YOU GOING TO TELL ME THAT SHANKS DOESN'T GIVE OFF THE VIBE OF A BRAZILIAN GUY FROM THE CENTRAL WHO EATING A BARBECUE WITH A LITTLE LEMON AND A DIRTY BEER IN HIS HAND IN THE SUNDAYS, JUST ENJOYING THE VIBE BY THE POOL?!)
• Floral underwear with silly, endeavourous prints (This one is the fashion squad's greatest enemy (or ally). As if Christ's sandals from the Roman Empire era weren't enough, this is the average Brazilian kit that has shorts or underwear full of tacky floral prints for a 60-year-old lady who stays at home watching Mexican soap operas on TV)
• And last but not least: THIS MAN HAS A BIG NOSE, THERE'S NOTHING TO SAY. HE HAS A BIG NOSE, PEOPLE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD 😭😭😭
• And he has a noticeable Adam's apple on his neck 👐

Using An Epilator On My Head (Part Two) - The Scalp
Sometimes I get the question how I managed to epilate all of my head, and how I have kept it that way. The short version and my inspiration for doing it the way I did can be found here.
Unlike others who seem to be able to get through the entire process during one weekend, starting from what I'd see as a considerable hair length (half a centimetre maybe), I needed several weeks to complete it. Shaving, then waiting maybe half a day before letting the epilator grab the very first stubble. Waiting more time, epilating again, this time with more stubble being ripped out, and repeating this process till it hurt so much that I shaved again, starting the cycle all over again.
One thing I had to deal with relatively soon were pimples/small ingrown hairs.
Tumblr media
Not the end of the world, but not the best look, either. There are different methods for dealing with this, all of them basically some kind of peeling to enable the newly growing hair to find its way to the surface and stop the pores from clogging. What worked really well for me was a spray against ingrown hairs after epilating - a chemical peeling of some sort. To this day, I tend to apply it once a day, mostly in the evening before going to bed. On the day of a tweezing session applying it can sting, but it is bearable and a good sign that it does its work. Even if a pimple is already there, it will go away much quicker with this extra help.
Another thing I had to live with for a short time was a certain patchiness on my scalp. I'm talking about the small-scale level here, you can see some of it on the picture above. No-one ever commented on it, from a certain distance it wasn't even noticeable, neither was it under little light. Or maybe everyone just thought I hadn't done a good job shaving?
In any case, it went away after having tweezed every hair at least once, which took some time because of the different phases of the growing cycle the individual hairs were in. Once that was done, things got much better very quickly in every respect. The hair that did grow back was finer, which made it a lot less painful to epilate. Since I kept on tweezing twice a week (always in the evening), there was also not that much to remove in an individual session any longer. And regrowth has kept getting less over time.
The MPB zones were the first one where the hair seemed to give up, my natural hairline for example never really returned after going over it with the epilator a couple of times, the same is true for the stretch that goes from there to the crown. The hair more to the sides is also getting less dense now as far as I can tell; to be sure, I would have to stop epilating for a while, and I don't want to do that.
What I still do after every tweezing session on my scalp is a wet shave. Especially in the beginning, and even after having epilated every hair at least once as explained above, just tweezing wouldn't give the totally smooth feeling yet. The shave is extremely quick and effortless, and after that my scalp has almost a glass-like feel to it. Over time, the smoothness I achieve just by tweezing has improved considerably as well. Being consistent in using the epilator definitely has had its rewards.
Tumblr media
(Another photo from last summer, not even a year after starting the scalp tweezing, but the work I had to put into maintenance was already so much less than at the beginning of the process, and while there was some regrowth after one or two days, I was shadow-free one hundred percent of the time.)
For those who consider venturing into this as well, I would like to stress (as Tom did on http://scalptweezing.com) that using the epilator on your scalp is likely to lead to noticeable permanent hair loss pretty soon. So that should be something that you want or at least accept in exchange for the benefits. It can also be part of the thrill to know you are changing your appearance in a way that cannot be undone, at least that was my case. Just don't forget that the point of no return can come really early.

There are two dubbings of this film. The first from 1940 and the second from 1966.
In the cinema releases, the film used the original English title (Pinocchio.) The home media releases re-titled the film (Pinóquio.)
There was a contest before the film's premiere in Brazil to win merchandise from the film. If you would like to learn more about this contest, good friend of the website Leonardo Forli has written an article on his website about it. Link
The 1940 version, along with the Latin Spanish version, were the only foreign language versions of Pinocchio to be released in 1940. This was due to World War II cutting off the European and Asian markets from the USA.
Joracy Camargo only had a short time to translate the movie. He filled the movie with humor and simple for anyone to understand (both kids and adults.) João de Barro also helped translate the script as well by changing some of the wording by Camargo.
After the dialogue was completed at Sonofilms, it was sent to an unknown studio in New York for mixing.
Edmundo Maia was incorrectly credited as Geppetto in a newspaper article. In reality, it was Baptista Júnior that voiced Geppetto. Edmundo Maia did voice the Coachman in the 1940 dub.
There are excerpts from the first dub are available on vinyl records made during the 1940s. Otherwise, the dubbing is lost.
The 1966 dub was first shown in Portugal during the Christmas season of 1966. While in Brazil, it was shown in 1967.
The 1966 dub is the most common dub and is available on all Brazilian home video releases and the first Portugal VHS release.
On the first VHS release, the 1940 technical credits were included as well as the 1966 technical credits.
Selma Lopes was uncredited as Pinocchio's singing voice in the second dubbing. She revealed that she did his singing voice here and here.

Fees for re-recording MPB classics soar amid legal hurdles
Brazilian copyright law requires artists to obtain formal authorization from publishers before re-recording existing songs; producers and performers describe the process as hitting a ‘bizarre point’
Tumblr media
After all, how much is a song worth? On one side of this question are the performers eager to re-record albums featuring Brazilian songs that once topped the charts and became part of the country’s cultural memory. On the other are the music publishers who represent the authors of those very songs. Under Brazil’s copyright law, singers must obtain formal authorization from the authors—through their publishers—before recording a new version of another artist’s work.
What’s shaking the music world now is how this authorization is priced: when granting permission to re-record a track, the fee is determined by the author, who sets their own valuation. Over the past year, these so-called “fixation fees” have surged, prompting many independent artists to abandon plans to record beloved songs from the Brazilian canon. Particularly hard hit is the genre of Música Popular Brasileira (MPB)—a style born in the 1960s that fuses traditional Brazilian rhythms like samba and bossa nova with elements of jazz, folk, and rock and is known for its poetic lyrics and cultural resonance.
Fixation fees, which date back to the vinyl LP era of the 1960s, were never explicitly codified in law but have long been a fixture of Brazil’s music industry. Their existence is not unlawful, nor necessarily unethical—after all, artists have the right to assign value to their intellectual creations.
Yet today’s pricing climate is sending shockwaves through the independent music scene. Singers interviewed by Valor say that fees, once between R$800 and R$1,200, now climb as high as R$20,000 per song. Requests in the R$7,500 to R$15,000 range have become more common, and tracks that cost R$2,000 last year may now demand R$4,000.

Protein Drinks Before Bed: Nighttime Fuel for Fitness Fanatics?
Tumblr media
For fitness enthusiasts, the quest for optimal muscle growth and recovery is a constant pursuit. Every rep, every set, and every meticulously chosen meal plays a role in sculpting that coveted physique. But what happens when the weights are put away and the gym lights are dimmed? Does the muscle-building process cease entirely during those precious hours of sleep? Enter the intriguing concept of protein drinks before bed – a potential nighttime weapon in the fitness fanatic's arsenal.
Unveiling the Nighttime Ritual: Protein Shakes Before Bed
The idea of consuming protein before bed might seem counterintuitive. After all, most meals are relegated to the waking hours. However, dedicated athletes and bodybuilders have long embraced this practice, believing it can provide an edge during sleep. But is there any scientific backing to this nighttime ritual, or is it simply fitness folklore?
Unveiling the Mystery: Can Protein Help You While You Sleep?
The answer lies within the intricate dance of muscle protein synthesis (MPS) and muscle protein breakdown (MPB). MPS is the anabolic process responsible for building and repairing muscle tissue. Conversely, MPB is the body's natural process of breaking down muscle for energy. Ideally, we want to tip the scales in favor of MPS, especially during recovery periods like sleep.
The Science Behind Sleep and Muscle
During sleep, the body enters a fasted state. This can lead to an increase in MPB, potentially hindering muscle growth. Here's where pre-sleep protein shakes come in. By providing a sustained stream of amino acids, the building blocks of protein, they may help elevate MPS rates throughout the night, counteracting the fasted state and promoting a more favorable muscle-building environment.
Athletes, Lifters, and Night Owls: Who Can Benefit Most?
While anyone can potentially benefit from a pre-sleep protein shake, some individuals might see more pronounced effects. Athletes undergoing intense training schedules or those struggling to meet their daily protein requirements can find this practice particularly helpful. Additionally, shift workers with irregular sleep patterns may benefit from the sustained protein delivery during their extended sleep periods.
The Fascinating Dance of MPS and MPB
Understanding MPS and MPB is crucial. Imagine a constant tug-of-war between two teams: the MPS team, striving to build muscle, and the MPB team, intent on breaking it down. Pre-sleep protein shakes act as reinforcements for the MPS team, providing them with the resources needed to continue building muscle even while you slumber.
When Does Muscle Become Vulnerable? The Overnight Fast Explained
During sleep, the body isn't actively ingesting protein. This extended fast can create a protein deficit, tipping the scales in favor of MPB. Pre-sleep protein shakes function as a slow-digesting source of protein, offering a steady supply of amino acids throughout the night to counter this deficit and support MPS.
Can Protein Shakes Help Tip the Scales in Favor of Muscle Growth During Sleep?
Research suggests that pre-sleep protein shakes can indeed be beneficial. Studies have shown an increase in MPS rates, particularly when casein protein, a slow-digesting protein source, is consumed before bed. This sustained release of amino acids provides a longer window for muscle building during sleep.
Exploring the Benefits of Pre-Sleep Protein Shakes
The potential benefits of pre-sleep protein shakes extend beyond just promoting muscle growth. Let's delve deeper into the ways this nighttime ritual can enhance your fitness journey.
Building Bigger and Stronger: Can Protein Shakes Enhance Muscle Mass Gains?
As discussed, pre-sleep protein shakes may elevate MPS rates, leading to increased muscle protein accretion – the fancy term for building muscle mass. This can be particularly advantageous for athletes and lifters seeking to maximize their gains.
Repair and Rebuild: Does Nighttime Protein Support Muscle Recovery?
Exercise creates microscopic tears in muscle fibers. These tears are repaired during recovery, a process that requires ample protein. Pre-sleep protein shakes provide a steady stream of amino acids, which your body can readily use to rebuild and repair muscle tissue after a tough workout.
Nighttime Cravings? How Protein Shakes Can Curb Your Late-Night Hunger Pangs
Protein is known for its satiating properties. Consuming a protein shake before bed can help curb late-night cravings, preventing you from reaching for unhealthy snacks that could sabotage your fitness goals.
Beyond Muscle: Can Protein Shakes Improve Overall Sleep Quality?
Some studies suggest that protein, particularly casein, may have sleep-promoting effects. The slow, steady release of amino acids from casein can trigger the production of tryptophan, a precursor to the sleep hormone melatonin. This could potentially lead to a more restful night's sleep.

The Metabolic Boost: Can Protein Shakes Help You Burn More Calories While You Sleep?
The thermic effect of food (TEF) refers to the energy your body expends digesting and processing food. Protein has a higher TEF compared to carbohydrates and fats. This means your body burns more calories simply by breaking down protein. Consuming a pre-sleep protein shake can elevate your TEF throughout the night, potentially leading to a slight increase in calorie expenditure while you sleep.
Choosing the Right Protein for Your Pre-Sleep Shake
Not all protein sources are created equal when it comes to nighttime consumption. Here's a breakdown of some popular options and why they might be a good fit for your pre-sleep shake.
Slow and Steady Wins the Race: Why Casein Protein Might Be Your Nighttime BFF
As mentioned earlier, casein protein is a slow-digesting protein source. This translates to a sustained release of amino acids into your bloodstream throughout the night. This prolonged delivery perfectly complements the fasted state of sleep, ensuring a steady supply of building blocks for muscle repair and growth.
Whey vs Casein: Breaking Down the Digestion Rates for Optimal Sleep Support
Whey protein, another popular choice, is known for its rapid absorption. While this is beneficial post-workout for quick muscle recovery, its fast-digesting nature might not be ideal before bed. By the time you drift off to sleep, the surge of amino acids from whey might have already subsided. Casein, with its gradual release, offers a more sustained window of muscle support during sleep.
Plant-Based Power: Exploring Vegan Protein Options for Pre-Sleep Shakes
For those following a vegan lifestyle, there are excellent plant-based protein powders available. Look for options derived from pea protein, brown rice protein, or a blend of plant-based sources. While some plant-based proteins might be slightly less digestible than whey or casein, they can still provide a valuable source of amino acids for nighttime muscle support.
Don't Forget the Macros: Balancing Protein with Carbs and Healthy Fats
While protein is the star of the show, don't neglect the importance of a balanced pre-sleep shake. Including a small amount of complex carbs, like fruits or rolled oats, can provide a sustained energy source throughout the night. Additionally, incorporating healthy fats, such as nut butter or avocado, can further enhance satiety and promote better sleep.
Flavorful Function: Making Your Pre-Sleep Protein Shake Delicious and Nutritious
Nighttime shouldn't be a time for bland and boring shakes. Experiment with different flavors and ingredients to create a pre-sleep protein shake you genuinely enjoy. Adding fruits like berries or bananas can provide natural sweetness and additional nutrients. Spices like cinnamon or nutmeg can add a warm and comforting touch. Remember, a delicious shake is more likely to become a consistent part of your nighttime routine.
Crafting the Perfect Pre-Sleep Protein Shake
Now that you're armed with the knowledge of protein sources and additional ingredients, let's explore some sample recipes tailored to specific goals.
Sample Recipes for Different Goals: Muscle Building, Recovery, and Weight Management
Muscle Building: Blend one scoop of casein protein powder with unsweetened almond milk, a banana for sweetness, and a tablespoon of peanut butter for healthy fats.
Recovery: Combine one scoop of whey protein powder with tart cherry juice (known for its anti-inflammatory properties), a handful of spinach for added vitamins, and a dollop of Greek yogurt for extra protein and creaminess.
Weight Management: Mix one scoop of plant-based protein powder with water, a handful of berries for antioxidants, and a sprinkle of chia seeds for added fiber and satiety.
Tumblr media
Beyond the Basics: Superfood Add-Ins to Boost Your Pre-Sleep Shake
For an extra nutritional punch, consider adding some superfood ingredients to your pre-sleep protein shake. Tart cherry juice, as mentioned earlier, can aid in recovery. Ashwagandha, an adaptogenic herb, may promote relaxation and better sleep. For those seeking a natural sleep aid, a sprinkle of tart cherry powder or L-theanine (an amino acid found in green tea) can be beneficial.
Sweet Dreams or Digestive Distress? Avoiding Ingredients That Can Disrupt Your Sleep
While a touch of sweetness can be delightful, avoid using sugary syrups or artificial sweeteners in your pre-sleep shake. These can cause blood sugar spikes and crashes, potentially disrupting your sleep. Additionally, steer clear of ingredients that might cause digestive discomfort, such as highly processed fiber supplements or certain artificial sweeteners.
The All-Important Timing: When to Drink Your Pre-Sleep Protein Shake for Maximum Benefit
Ideally, consume your pre-sleep protein shake 1-2 hours before bedtime. This allows sufficient time for digestion without interfering with sleep onset.
Addressing Common Concerns About Pre-Sleep Protein Shakes
While the potential benefits of pre-sleep protein shakes are enticing, some concerns linger. Let's address some of the most frequently asked questions:
Can Protein Shakes Cause Sleep Disruption? Separating Fact from Fiction
There's a misconception that protein shakes can disrupt sleep due to the digestive process. However, research suggests that consuming a moderate serving of protein, particularly slow-digesting casein, does not negatively impact sleep quality. In fact, some studies indicate protein may even promote better sleep.
Lactose Intolerant? Alternative Protein Options for a Peaceful Night's Sleep
If you're lactose intolerant, casein protein might not be the best choice. Luckily, there are excellent alternatives. Opt for whey protein isolates, which are low in lactose content, or explore plant-based protein powders derived from pea protein, brown rice protein, or a blend of plant-based sources.
Sugar Crash City: Avoiding High-Sugar Protein Powders for Optimal Sleep
Sugary protein powders can cause blood sugar spikes and crashes, leading to disrupted sleep and potential cravings later in the night. Always check the label and choose protein powders with minimal added sugars. You can always add natural sweetness with fruits like berries or a touch of honey.
Budget-Conscious Gains: Affordable Protein Powder Options for Nighttime Support
High-quality protein powders can be expensive. Here are some budget-friendly tips:
Buy in bulk: Purchasing larger quantities of protein powder can be more cost-effective in the long run.
Look for store-brand options: Many retailers offer their own protein powder lines at competitive prices.
Prioritize protein content: Focus on protein content per gram when comparing prices.
Consider plant-based options: Plant-based protein powders can sometimes be more affordable than whey or casein protein.

Beyond the Shake: Optimizing Your Sleep Environment for Muscle Growth
A good night's sleep is crucial for overall health and muscle recovery. Here are some additional tips to create a sleep sanctuary that fosters muscle growth:
Creating a Sleep Sanctuary: Essential Tips for a Restful Night's Sleep
Establish a consistent sleep schedule: Go to bed and wake up at roughly the same time each day, even on weekends, to regulate your body's natural sleep-wake cycle.
Craft a relaxing bedtime routine: Wind down before bed with calming activities like reading, taking a warm bath, or practicing light stretches.
Optimize your sleep environment: Make sure your bedroom is cool, dark, and quiet. Invest in blackout curtains, an earplug mask, and a comfortable mattress.
Limit screen time before bed: The blue light emitted from electronic devices can interfere with sleep. Avoid screens for at least an hour before bedtime.
The Power of Pre-Sleep Routine: Winding Down for Optimal Muscle Recovery
A dedicated pre-sleep routine signals to your body that it's time to transition into sleep mode. This might involve taking a warm bath, reading a book, or practicing light yoga or meditation.
Darkness is Your Friend: Light and Sleep: How to Create a Sleep-Promoting Environment
Light exposure, particularly blue light, can suppress melatonin production, the sleep hormone. Ensure your bedroom is completely dark by using blackout curtains or an eye mask. Invest in dim, amber-colored nightlights if needed.
Temperature Matters: The Ideal Sleeping Temperature for Muscle Growth and Recovery
Studies suggest a cooler bedroom temperature (around 60-67 degrees Fahrenheit) can promote better sleep quality and potentially enhance muscle recovery.
Conclusion
The Final Verdict: Are Protein Shakes Before Bed a Game Changer?
While pre-sleep protein shakes offer a promising strategy for muscle growth and recovery, they are not a magic bullet. They work best when combined with a healthy diet, regular exercise, and a prioritized sleep schedule.
Individuality Matters: Tailoring Your Pre-Sleep Routine to Your Needs
The effectiveness of pre-sleep protein shakes can vary depending on individual factors like activity level, protein intake throughout the day, and sleep quality. Experiment and find what works best for you.
Beyond the Shake: A Holistic Approach to Muscle Growth and Recovery
Remember, muscle growth and recovery are a complex interplay of factors. Prioritize a well-rounded approach that includes proper nutrition, consistent training, adequate sleep, and stress management, alongside your pre-sleep protein shake routine.
A Toast to Rest and Gains: Cheers to a Good Night's Sleep and Reaching Your Fitness Goals
By incorporating these strategies, you can optimize your sleep environment, fuel your body for nighttime recovery, and ultimately reach your fitness goals. So, raise a (protein) glass to restful nights and impressive gains!

Is Cashygo the best option? (on Wattpad) https://www.wattpad.com/1425231600-is-cashygo-the-best-option?utm_source=web&utm_medium=tumblr&utm_content=share_reading&wp_uname=cashygo While Cashygo advertises "top dollar" and "quick cash," it's worth comparing them to other options before making a decision. Here are some things to consider: Price: Research the current market value of your Nikon DSLR on sites like KEH, MPB, and eBay. Compare Cashygo's offer to these prices to see if they are truly competitive. Convenience: Cashygo offers free pickup, which can be convenient. However, other options like selling on your own through online marketplaces might offer higher prices even after factoring in shipping costs. Condition: Cashygo typically buys cameras in "good" or "very good" condition. If your camera has any damage or is in poor condition, they may not offer you much. Reputation: Read reviews of Cashygo and other options online to get a sense of their reputation and customer service. Alternatives to Cashygo: Sell online: You can list your camera on marketplaces like eBay, Craigslist, or Facebook Marketplace. This can be a good option if you want to get the highest possible price, but it requires more effort on your part to take photos, write a description, and deal with potential buyers. Sell to a camera store: Local camera stores often buy used equipment. They may not offer as much as you could get selling online, but it can be a quick and easy option. Trade in: Some camera stores and online retailers offer trade-in programs where you can trade in your old camera for a discount on a new one. This can be a good option if you're planning to upgrade anyway. Ultimately, the best way to sell your Nikon DSLR depends on your priorities. If you want the most money, selling online is the way to go. If you value convenience and speed, Cashygo or a local camera store might be a better option. I hope this information helps you make an informed decision about selling your Nikon DSLR!

[Accidental murder, on the run]
Reigen + Mob | Mob Psycho 100 09-01-2023
[#mp100 Murder and on the run with Reigen and Mob, 1630]
Had this thought for a while but: What would Reigen do if he got called one day by a panicked Mpb who accidentally killed someone?
Like, This was not the outcome Mob had wanted but it happened and now he has a corpse on his hand and doesn't know what to do. Should he call the cops? Should he move the body? Should he run away?
instead, he's panicking and calling Reigen about it.
And of course, Reigen comes to join him.
From the look of it it's some sort of psychic power accident, doesn't look too gruesome but it's not pretty either. Mob shifting not too far from the body, looking about to have a meltdown.
Reigen's brain is rilling really quickly and settles on an option that should cause the least damage if done right.
Hiding the body and any possible evidence.
It's pretty late and he's running on adrenaline too now, worried for Mob.
He instructs Mob to use his power to move the body around (no fingerprints like this). Maybe they use a car to go to the nearest forest to hide the body. Maybe they try to stage an accident where it wouldn't be seen as a murder. Maybe they try hiding the body somewhere in the city.
But they're no good enough at it and the body is found. Reigen is the first to learn of the body being found, growing anxious when police suspect a murder.
something in his guts just tells him their time is counted right now.
So he quickly prepares a getaway bag with important stuff in it and rents a car, he even pulling as much cash out of his bank account as possible.
Luckily it's a weekend and when he pulls out to the Kageyama household he tries to act as normal as possible.
"Ah Mobbu, I had forgotten to tell you I need you for an out-of-town job" he smiles, Ritsu eyeing him suspiciously as he apologises to Mob's parents.
"It's a /really important/ job and we might take the whole weekend, so you should prepare a bag, why don't I help you with your bag".
the Kageyama parents a none the wiser and lets the man in, Mob is a little confused by his shisho's strange behaviour, dread slowly creeping inside of him. Mob starts packing up enough for the weekend, but watches as Reigen adds more and more ("We are never prepared enough!") and even tells him bring some of his valuables.
After all, he's not sure when or if they'll be able to come back.
They say goodbye before getting on the road, Reigen anxiously listening to the radio as they talk about the man being found out. This is when Mob finally ask properly what's going on and Reigen finally says what he knows for now.
Of course, Mob get panicky again.
"Oi Mob, calm down" Reigen calls out when he feels the car doing strange moves, "They just found the body, it doesn't mean they know it's us who did it"
"Then why are we running away?!"
"We are not running away" Reigen assures him, "We are just going out of the city for a little while..." then they can properly run away for real when they confirm whether or not they are suspect.
With luck, they won't ever be suspected and they can go back to living normally. or at least, as normal as it can be when you exorcise spirits for a living.
Luck isn't on their side this time though.  Maybe someone witnessed them trying to move the body, which led police to check surveillance cameras and catch them both.
Now they are officially on the run and Mob is panicking saying they should just surrender, it will make things worse otherwise.
But Reigen tries to reassure him, telling him to trust his shisho and that he'll find a solution to all of this. They just need to lay low for a while.
And laying low means doing some changes.
as they try to drive away from seasoning cities as much as possible while avoiding big cities, Reigen makes some physical changes.
He had bought some hair dye, figuring that his pale hair would be too easy to recognise. He even tries to give himself a haircut.
the shorter haircut could have come out better, but he'll do with it, Mob even fixed it a little bit.
He stops wearing his usual suit and goes for more casual clothing, now trying to figure it out for Mob. He won't force the teenager to change his appearance if he doesn't want to, so he gives him a ballcap and simply tells him to try and not to wear anything too eye-catching.
They live mostly out of the rented car and cheap motels. Inside the car because it's obviously even cheaper but in hotel because sometimes the weather isn't too good.
Maybe they have to give up the car at some point when the rental company realise they rented one to Reigen. Leave them to walk and use the buses.
Maybe the longer they are on the run, the more anxious and fidgety Mob gets and he's also getting frustrated that Reigen doesn't find anything better than being on the run.
But Reigen is still thinking and /doesn't know what to do/!!
He doesn't want Mob's life to be ruined because of an accident like this and he would lie if he said he wasn't also scared of what might happen to him too.
But more importantly, he wants Mob to be fine and have a good life later on, this will not do.
Then one day as he's keeping track of the whole issue in a cyber-café, Mob eating something good for once (he's kinda running out of money and he'll run on coffee for now, Mob is more important).
Then he sees news about the Kageyama family coming forwards, worried that Reigen had taken their son hostage this whole time he has been running out, assuming he had forced him into helping hide the body. This also brings back old news of him being a hack and abusing his employee.
And as Reigen is sitting in the cramped space with Mob, feeling really hungry and tired, knowing his funds are getting lower and lower, something just... clicks inside of him.
This is Mob's way out of this mess.
He obviously doesn't tell Mob what his plan is supposed to be.
He decides to use the last of his money on a nice lunch with Mob, he can't afford anything too fancy, but the young man seems to enjoy his ramen and is easily reassured by Reigen when he tells him it is okay to indulge a little for once. It will probably be one of his last (if not the only last) bowls of ramen he can share with Mob and he decides to enjoy it as much as he can possibly do.
Then they go to a gas station bathroom, Reigen happy that it's empty.
He tells Mob that he has to wait for him here and not to come out until he's back, he has something quick to do. Mob, as confused and unsure as he is about the situation decide to trust him and stays put, barely questioning him when Reigen ties his hands and ankles.
Reigen can't help feeling a little distressed at the idea that Mob is letting him do all this without much questioning, but he assumes the kid is tired of all this running around and whatever his plan is he'll follow it.
then he leaves the bathroom, blocking the way so no one goes in. He finds the nearest payphone and uses the little spare change he has left to call the cop, telling them where he's left Mob saying he doesn't need a hostage anymore.
Poor Mob is scared out of his mind when he hears banging on the door, even more when he hears it police. He can barely let a coherent sentence out as they find him, working on untying him. It takes a moment before Mob catch onto what they are telling him:
not that he's under arrest, but rather reassuring him, telling him that everything will be alright now and that he'll be able to go back home once he answered some questions.
Mob is left extremely confused as to what is happening.
but slowly he realised that people thought he had been kidnapped by his shisho as some sort of hostage he never did any request about. He slowly realised that Reigen had decided to use that to help Mob, taking the whole blame for everything that happened (while even adding "kidnapping" to his changes).
Reigen is caught easily the next day and confesses to everything, easily lying about being the one who killed the man, trying to make a story that works with what Mob had told him had happened.
It's not really hard to convince them he was the one who forced Mob to help him hide the body and that he had kidnapped Mob so he wouldn't go to the police with what he did.
When asked why he let go of Mob, he says he had no more money and felt guilty about keeping Mob like this with him.
Reigen will take the fall and makes sure Mob has a good life after this incident, no matter what.
The police don't believe Mob when he says HE'S the one who killed that man, believing that Reigen forced him to try and take the fall.
Reigen ends up jailed for the murder and kidnapping, successfully taking all the blame away from Mob on this one.
Doesn't stop Mob from feeling guilty about it tho.
Maybe he's allowed to visit reigen in prison, at the start trying to convince him to tell them it was HIM who did it, but slowly gives up as he sees the way his shisho smiles at him. He's made up his mind and he won't go back. Not like he could anyway.
He visits Reigen regularly enough, trying to tell him how things are doing for him, how everyone else is doing too. Reigen doesn't say much about his prison life, seems to prefer hearing how Mob is doing, wants to see Mob grows into a good person despite it all.
dunno if Reigen would ever be able to leave prison, but I feel like Mob would be the one there for him when he does, ready to fully take him back into his life properly again and ready to help. He's just happy to have his shisho back after so long.
and when seeing more properly how much Mob has grown and how far he's gone, reigen knows one thing
He'd make the same choice again if he were back to the night where it all started

Touya Capten Story
In this situation, the agents were equipped with level 3 weapons to confront the level 4 threat posed by MPB-098, a mutant entity. Captain Touya issued orders to his team to utilize the provided level 3 weapons. The team followed the orders and engaged MPB-098 in a firefight.
However, the mutant entity displayed incredible resilience, withstanding the barrage of gunfire launched at it. Despite sustaining hits, the mutant continued to move effortlessly, showcasing exceptional endurance.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, Captain Touya's team remained highly vigilant and worked to overcome the mutant's counterattacks. They were aware they were facing a formidable opponent, but they remained determined to protect themselves and capture MPB-098.
Meanwhile, the agent who was injured and rendered unconscious received immediate assistance from the medical team within Touya's unit. They worked to treat the agent and ensure their safety.
In this challenging situation, the agents persevered with all their might and employed the appropriate strategies to confront the powerful mutant entity. They relied on their skills, expertise, and the level 3 weapons provided to overcome this threat.
After a prolonged firefight, the Mutant entity was successfully incapacitated and captured. "Based on central command's orders, we will transport it back to headquarters. Prepare the transportation!" said Captain Touya. "Yes, sir!" responded the team.
"Captain Touya, it seems there is a device attached to the back of MPB-098's head that appears to be the remnants of heavy weapon projectiles," one of the team members pointed out, showing the device. "Hmm, alright. We will investigate it further at headquarters. Let's go now. Leave it to R.A.V.E.N unit to clean up the area," said Captain Touya. "Understood!"
After exactly 12 hours, Operation "Highway" was successfully executed, but it came at a cost. Eight agents were rendered unconscious, while the rest sustained injuries.
As the team prepared to transport MPB-098, Captain Touya noticed a faint insignia on the device attached to its head. It resembled a symbol he had seen before—an emblem associated with a notorious secret organization known as "The Shadow Syndicate.".

Feliz Carnaval! Today we'll celebrate a song from Brazil, one of the richest musical countries there is!
Clube da Esquina is a legendary album in Brazilian music, a milestone collection of gems that united that land's musical styles with influences from continents up north and across the ocean. Springing from the musical collective and movement the album shares its title with, it features the talents of numerous young musicians and songwriters, yet was spearheaded by two artists: the rising star Lô Borges, still in his teens when making this, and the established singer/multi-instrumentalist Milton Nascimento, Clube being his 5th record. Both have enjoyed long careers after this landmark effort, and after a spin, it's easy to hear why.
The sound is largely made up of música popular brasileira, heavy on samba, pop and folk, but draws also from jazz and psychedelia, and particularly the work of The Beatles (that band's work being an initial unifying interest for the Clube da Esquina fellowship). While the easygoing acid vibes can certainly be traced back to Liverpool, the addition of jazz and Brazilian styles makes for something much more interesting if you ask me. There is not an unworthy moment on this whole album. Every track is thoughtfully and beautifully written, performed and produced, which makes sense given that the collective spent 6 months in a coastal beach house writing and rehearsing the songs before recording them. Nascimento and Borges' names are on the front sleeve, but Clube is a work of collaboration between many skilled artists. Composition duties, plus improvisation, were provided not just by the named duo, but by friends like Fernando Brant, Toninho Horta, Beto Guedes and Lô's brother Márcio. This comradery results in an efficient, breezy chemistry that only really comes from musicians experienced on their own terms and with each other, and is enchanting to listen to.
Clube bursts with highlights, so much so that it's genuinely hard to pick just one for today's purposes. I could have picked Nascimento's mesmerising 'Cravo e Canela' or the politically wounded 'Sans Vicente', or Borges' wistfully fantastical 'Paisagem Da Janela'. My heart's been set on escapism lately though, and to me that calls for the above 'O Trem Azul', co-written and sung by dear Lô. First though, it's worth going into the circumstances of which Clube was born from, for a little context.
Brazil's music is tied heavily to its politics, and has been since before the counter-cultural days of the Clube da Esquina, or its more avant-garde leaning cousin Tropicália. The mid-20th century in Brazilian governments saw power swing between fascist autocrats, social democrats, capitalist developmentalists, and military coups. The latter is most relevant here, as a military junta seized power in 1964 (backed of course by the USA), initiating a 21-year period of brutal political and cultural suppression. As part of the dictatorship's new regime, censorship became the order of the day, affecting everything from leftist organisation to news media to the arts. Specifically here, MPB such as bossa nova, and the later musical efforts of the Clube generation. Strict oversight meant artists could not speak out for fear of reprisal, and rightly so; thousands were arrested and punished for perceived communist and anti-government statements during the junta years, and hundreds were murdered. Despite this terror, many did just that. Overt artistic statements tended to be made by Tropicália rebels, while subtler messages were carried by MPB stars, coded in lyrics, and even the chords in their songs. This want for something beyond this harsh reality is apparent in post-bossa nova music, which embraced rock and pop from overseas, something frowned upon by conservative cultural gatekeepers. This daring, whether bold or subliminal, forged a fierce appreciation by Brazilian audiences for their musicians and performers, which lasts today. Wannabe dictators are still a menace in Brazil, but its people are tenacious, and won't allow such regression without a good fight.
Getting back to music now, it's surely not difficult to see why such yearning and melancholy yet transgressive sounds were a hit. Many songs on Clube hint at wanting better than this state of affairs, through escape or change. The earlier mentioned 'San Vicente' mourns Brazil as a US-backed hellscape. The opening track 'Tudo Que Você Podia Ser' is a haunting depiction of a young man who succumbs to authoritarian conformity (something that nearly happened to Lô Borges, who considered joining the military before being spotted playing guitar by Milton Nascimento, and asked to join the Clube). The fanciful 'O Trem Azul' is one of many standouts, but since I had to pick only one, this is it.
'O Trem Azul' ('The Blue Train', a John Coltrane nod) is a wistful coming of age song, questioning identity and destiny, with hopes and dreams coming and going as easily as the wind. So many classic songs utilise train imagery and metaphors, and this one is assuredly up there, using it as a symbol of delivery from urban stagnation to a freer destination. Borges' lead vocal delivery perfectly encapsulates that craving for something, anything other than the misery surrounding you. Meanwhile, the glorious music, with its glimmering guitars, laidback percussion and soaring organ, exemplifies that miraculous feeling of freedom, which can be taken as spiritual, material and/or chemical, given the stylistic kinship with the best of San Francisco's summer of love. You could pick a favourite song from half this album and be correct, but for what it's worth right here, this is mine. Grata, Lô e Milton 💚
