Day 10 – Food

Zet – Zet is no picky eater at all, she’ll eat anything from stale to spicy. But she found that whatever the Granmeowster cooks for her, she eats with a bit more gusto.

Mei – Mei is an absolute glutton, she looooves eating a lot, but she can’t handle too fatty things, even if she enjoys the taste a lot. Her fav have to be fresh, cool, juicy fruits though. She just associates them with home and her childhood, so they have extra meaning on top of the delicious taste.

Chidori – As good as Yomogi’s dangos are, Chidori doesn’t see them as her favourite food (she will never tell Yomogi that though.) Chidori loves sour foods, so she often purchases sour rock candy from Rondine. And yes, Chidori is the kind to just crunch that kind of candy between her teeth.

Day 11 – Inventory

Zet – Efficiency is the name of the game. Zet’s pouch is almost empty, she only has the essentials for anything. Mega Potions, armour and demon drug, and anything necessary for the specific quest, be that nullberries, antidotes or traps.

Mei – Mei is a bit chaotic when it comes to her inventory, she tries to always carry basics like potions and paint balls with her, but she often gets so excited to get going that she forgets a lot.

Chidori – Girl has no idea what she’s even doing, so she just has everything at hand at all times. Potions? Check. Enhancing potions/berries? Check. Traps? Check. Ammo even though she doesn’t use bowguns? Check.

Day 12 – Symbolism

Zet – The Guild had always stamped Zet as the “bringer of calamity”. While she was the hunter that always brought peace to any community she found herself in, it was always like the monsters flocked to her and made even simple quests a lot more dangerous. In the New World, however, she’d become the Sapphire Star, light shining bright even amongst the most hopeless chaos. Instead of being seen as something that attracts calamity, she’d be the one that brings hope and motivates people to hold up their heads high and fight on.

Mei – If I had to associate anything with Mei, it probably would be the colour red and the sun. Mei has reddish pink hair, she always wears her red Mahana dress and she has to follow in the footsteps of her grandfather Red. She’s also a very passionate and loving person.

As for the sun, I don’t call her sunshine incarnate for nothing. She has a very sunny disposition and a smile as bright as the midday sun. But she also has this small, calm smile that is very disarming and comforting, quiet and calming like the sun setting at dawn.

Chidori – I don’t really have any symbolism for Chidori, which is maybe also cos she’s too young of an OC for now. As said in the monster section, I do associate her with Gargwas, which means she has kind of a danger sense. She feels when something isn’t quite right, like when Narwa fell through the floor or when they beat Malzeno. She has like a Spidey-sense, just MH edition. Gargwa-sense?

Day 13 – Music

Zet – Hmm, I personally just associate the World/Iceborne soundtrack with her, though more the mellow or building music. My fav Monster Hunter song is “Succession of Light” (the Iceborne main theme) and I think it parallels Zet’s character growth in it’s music a lot, so if I had to pick one song for her, it would be this one.

Mei – Man, this music question is really hard, cos I really have never thought beyond the game’s soundtrack if I’m honest XD Though, if just going music based on personality, I’d say upbeat summer music fits her well. Not like, beach party music but just chill, fun music with ocean sounds. Kinda like, beach vibe bossanova. If shit hits the fan though, lets switch to chaotic jazz ahhahaha

Chidori – Again, I associate Chidori with the MH soundtrack, specifically the MH Rise soundtrack. Though, her nervous nature somehow also makes me think of meme music, like, acoustic versions of meme songs. Example would be the acoustic version of All Star by annapantsu, sth in that vein.

Day 14 – Habits

Zet – If she actively listens to you, she will stare directly into your eyes and barely blink. She doesn’t know she does it, but it freaks everyone out. She also has the tendency to knead things with her fingers when she’s concentrated or lost in thought. That mostly shows itself with her petting either Cry or Rev, but if you’re close by you can bet you’re getting some head scratches.

Mei – Personal space is a suggestion. People from Mahana are very touchy-feely, heck, their greeting is grabbing you by the cheeks and rubbing them, so Mei has the tendency to be way too close to people. Growing up so closely with monsties also makes her forget that not everyone is as comfortable being close to monsters, and especially not being chewed on by them, so she has to react quickly when, say, Asparagus keeps trying to gnaw on Kyle’s arm.

Chidori – Chidori has a bit of a hiding instinct. When she’s flustered, she always tugs her collar over her lips, or when she gets berated with someone she tends to hide behind that person. She also hides herself in a ball when she gets too anxious or exhausted. So, knees tucked, arms around and face buried in them, she finds herself a nice corner and doesn’t move for a while. With ppl she's close with she also rubs her face into or against them. Ya know, the kinda person who'd press their face into your shoulder when they're tired.

Day 15 – Half-way Free Space!

Zet – Zet actually underwent heavy character rewriting. Before World I always played as her, i.e. I always designed the same character and named her the same way, but I never really gave her a proper story or nailed down her personality. As you can see in the picture, at the start of world she was way more jovial XDD (btw. I already linked her to Fatalis before Iceborne even came out so the fact it ended with Fatalis was just fucking great on my end)

Mei – It shows that friends have only one braincell, because both @kathuman and I created our MH Stories 2 characters separately and they legit look like sisters, but like, down to a T. So Kitkat and Mei are sisters in some universe XD

Chidori – Her name is kinda a joke. I almost called her Niwa (garden) or Tori (bird), as Niwatori is the Japanese word for chicken, but I already have so many OCs with such short names, so I tried digging a bit more. I tried to find Japanese names that meant “being scared”, “scaredy-cat” or “chicken” or sth along those lines, until it came to mind that hey, I could just look up what Japanese Chicken breeds there are. Many breeds end with -dori or -jidori, and Jidori is just another way to write Chidori (if I understand correctly, it’s the same Japanese symbol and that’s just how it can be written with our alphabet), so I thought Chidori was perfect. It’s also kinda ironic, cos the name itself can mean “thousand birds”, with the first Kanji being “Thousand” or “Many”, and the second Kanji meaning either “Bird”, “Freedom” or even “Intelligence” or “Beauty”. So, people always think she was called that cos her parents wanted her to be a free spirit, and be intelligent, all the while she’s a scaredy cat that doesn’t want to leave her home and she’s dumb as bricks, not to mention she’s just called that cos she’s a chicken.

Doing this with my four main OC's: Marilag, Raem, Agapito and Dayang.

1. What's your favorite restaurant? If you don't have one, what's your favorite food?

Marilag, playwright: Ooh, I love specifically the restaurant by the seaside, they sell ricecakes, my favorite. Riceckes are great whenever you have a hectic work and can't go outside, such as making scripts and other endeavors such as fixing costumes for the plays.

Raem, fisherman: Same with Marilag, but I hated ricecakes. Would prefer sinigang and other soup over anything. I go there especially when the evening strikes before I go out fishing in the sea.

Agapito, healer: O-oh...I don't have one, I am not allowed outside. But I love pastries and bread with meat fillings inside. I always eat them whenever I can, though not always...it isn't in the right diet for healers, as the Church would say.

Dayang, Imperial Princess: A favorite of mine is the restaurant by the capital, near the Church. It is called 'Southern Delicacies'. It is where many noblemen would flock over for other business meetings, but I would say that the view is much more better than the food or the people there.

2. How many languages do you speak? Do you speak English? How many forms of those languages do you speak?

Marilag, playwright: Hmm, I speak three of them. Golangi-La is my main language, a language of the moon eaters (bakunawa) and a form of a language of the fae. However it is banned in the empire so I speak the human tongue. I also speak English, though very broken. I have some audiences from the northern empires who speak those languages...

Raem, fisherman: I speak only two. Butlong was my main language, until I got swept by the capital and so I began to speak the human tongue. You cannot speak the language of the tree dwellers to mortals, you know? And also, English? What's that?

Agapito, healer: Around five. First is the human tongue; then the language of the fae (I speak its two forms) and the sirens. I also speak foreign languages such as English and the language of the eastern empires. It is important to do so the Church is diverse in its followers.

Dayang, Imperial Princess: I speak six languages. I spoke the human tongue; two forms of Uslok, a language of the tree dwellers; English and two foreign languages. I was heavily taught by scholars and the Empress (unfortunately) in order to understand the diplomats that always dwell in our court.

3. What does magic mean for you?

Marilag, playwright: Magic is art. Plain and simple. It is an art of life, a gift of the gods for us to use in the good of everyone and to showcase the beauty of life in every form.

Raem, fisherman: Pretty poetic, sister. Anyways, magic for me is something of an advantage, mostly. It can slap you in the face if you even try to use it for evil, I've seen it. And its entertaining.

Agapito, healer: Well, magic is sort of life itself. A component, you see.

Dayang, Imperial Princess: Magic by definition of the Shamans is a component of life aside from soil, water and air. It is a dangerous weapon, while also a beautiful form of art, as Marilag have said.

1) Is life going the way that you hoped it would?

"As I hoped it would when? Sepo the junior priest would've killed me on sight if he could witness me now. Sepo the inmate would've wept for joy. Life is going how it's going to go - I just hang on and try not to scream."

2) What is in your pocket right now? Why?

"A knife. For persuading people with boorish manners to shape it up."

3) If you could relive a single minute of your past, what minute would you pick?

"I think, if I could relive any single minute, I'd pick singing with Saius. It's been so long, but I could never forget his face. I see his spitting image staring me back in the mirror every day. His voice though... My voice.... I would love to hear both of those again."

4) What type of music do you like to listen to?

"What type of music do I listen to? The Golden Era composers are by far the best thing to come out of the pitchy wails that are considered music above the waves. Their sense of timbre and rhythm were second to none. Indeed, I think it should be mandatory for any aspiring musicians to study their work. It'd certainly cut down on the number of snivling fops who think they're worthy of holding so much as a tambourine. Second to them are traditional dwarven brass arrangements. Though their instrumentality is lacking when performed with the typical ensemble, their sense of harmony-"

5) What's an unpopular opinion you have?

"Purple is a shit color, religion is a scam, neutrality is for cowards, and everyone should own a weapon. Four for one, there you go."

6) What are your thoughts on cheese?

"Whoever first decided to eat milk so curdled it was solid must've been wrong in the head. Such insanity really doesn't help resist the siren case against human sentience, for what sentient beings would invent such a monstrosity?"

7) What’s the worst insult you’ve ever been given?

"That one... that one came from Djek, most shamefully. He didn't even say anything, just pointed to a drawing of a hairless cat wearing a long, brown wig. The others didn't let me live it down for weeks."

8) How would you react if someone catcalled you?

"I'd put a knife in their eye, since they want to look at something sharp."

(This is a lie. Sepo gets catcalled frequently due to his siren looks and he freezes up every time, usually blushing a fluorescent red. If any of his friends are with him, they kindly throw the nearest rock at the catcaller's head.)

9) If you suddenly appeared in an unknown city, what would you do/look for first?

"I'd search for the ocean. It might not be a good option, but if I have an ocean, I have an out."

(Fun fact, I don't think Sepo has ever been to a non-costal city. I'm not sure he knows they exist.)

About Me

When did you first start writing ?

When I was about 6yo. My mom wrote down my first story about a lonely squirrel :D

Are the genres/themes you enjoy reading different from the ones you write?

I write the same genres as I enjoy reading

Is there an author (or just a fellow writer!) you want to emulate, or one to whom you're often compared?

Not emulate really, but I look up to K. J. Charles, Cat Sebastian, and Ginn Hale

Can you tell me a little about your writing space(s)? (Room, coffee shop, desk, etc.)

I'm currently building a new writing nook in a new apartment :D I§m looking forward to having a nice space for my writing because I used to write in my bed which is less than ideal for my back.

What's your most effective way to muster up some muse?

Inspiration usually isn't a problem. Give me some music or a picture and ideas will flow. It's much harder when it comes to finding time, energy, or motivation.

Did the place(s) you grew up in influence the people and places you write about?

Not really.

Are there any recurring themes in your writing, and if so, do they surprise you at all?

Yes there are and yes they do :D I'm surprised how often my characters have to unlearn things and how many of them struggle with self-worth (even though that shouldn't be so surprising when I'm the one writing them)

My Characters

Would you please tell me about your current favorite character?

Right now I'm pretty obsessed with Deril Hendersen. Mostly because he's new and I'm developing him, but also because he's the villain that the hero falls for and I've never written anyone like him.

Which of your characters do you think you'd be friends with in real life?

Definitely with Jan Xiaoli because he's loveable and sees the best in people. Maybe with Ikath because I tend to befriend very girly girls and they seem to be attracted by my gender nonconformity.

Which of your characters would you dislike the most if you met them?

Lothir because he's everything I hate. I'm afraid we would clash with Shi Saxe and Yarren because we have too much in common (we are all stubborn assholes).

Tell me about the process of coming up with of one, all, or any of your characters.

Half of my MCs started with an image of a real person or were inspired by a different character. The other half I created as their love interests.

Do you notice any recurring themes/traits among your characters?

Yes, they are all assholes :D I also tend to pair a slutty one with a virgin.

How do you picture them? (As real people you imagined, as models/actors who exist in real life, as imaginary artwork, as artwork you made or commissioned, anime style, etc

I imagined them as real people (even though some of them start from real-life inspiration they eventually get their own unique appearance) but I also like to make artwork depicting them.

My Writing

What's your reason for writing?

Uh... to shut the voices in my head? Or give them a purpose at least. Also, I think there's still not enough stories where queer people go on adventures or save the world. Especially not adult ones.

Is there a specific comment or type of comment you find particularly motivating coming from your readers?

I love all the comments. But it's especially great when readers pick up on something I thought they wouldn't

How do you want to be thought of by those who read your work? (For example: as a literary genius, or as a writer who "gets" the human condition; as a talented worldbuilder, as a role model, etc.)

I don't really want people to perceive me, I just want them to enjoy my stories :D But if I must choose I'd say I want them to think of me as a queer person who understands and shares queer joy.

What do you feel is your greatest strength as a writer?

I think my greatest strength is dialogue and making characters plausible. And I'm pretty good with pacing.

What have you been frequently told your greatest writing strength is by others?

Telling a lot in a few words, dialogues, strong characters (even the side characters), and interesting worldbuilding.

How do you feel about your own writing? (Answer in whatever way you interpret this question.)

I know it's not very common so I almost feel ashamed to say it, but I'm proud of my writing. I'm good and I work hard to be better.

If you were the last person on earth and knew your writing would never be read by another human, would you still write?

Yes. It would still be a great way to escape reality and entertain myself.

When you write, are you influenced by what others might enjoy reading, or do you write purely what you enjoy? If it's a mix of the two, which holds the most influence?

I write purely what I enjoy and hope that someone else will like it too :D

What's the first part of the WIP that you created?

Uhh... Marril's Character Arc

If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?

I have no fucking idea, I love music but I am BAD at connecting it to stuff - Probably like... uh.... Fuck... You should see me in a Crown by Billie Eilish is the only thing I can think of even though it's NOWHERE near accurate

What are your favourite characters that you made and why?

For TCOT, Definitely Marril, Shyre, Geon, and Viasaki

Marril - He's hot

Shyre - She's very sweet and fun to write

Geon - He's got a cool gimmick and His Blindness will be a fun thing to write in

Viasaki - He and Kila have the most fun shared arc in the whole series

What other pieces of media your fanbase would share?

I assume probably Hunger games, Wings of fire or something? Maybe Percy Jackson?

What has been your biggest struggle with your WIP?

I would say editing, but that's a lie. Pacing and plot are my greatest weaknesses. I have had to cut and reshape SO MUCH shit because of how fast I progress the plot because I just want to get to the fun parts

What did you want to be when you'd grow up? A teacher, a forensic scientist and many other things. Including the job I'm working as now.

Your favourite TV show: The Nanny and watching crime shows with my mum like Murder She Wrote, Twin Peaks, Remington Steele, CSI

How did you spend your summers? Outside. Playing with neighbourhood kids, amusement parks, going swimming, reading

Did you listen to music? If yes, did you have a favourite band/artist? Yes. Rolf Zuckowski was/is my hero. Then I moved on to The Kelly Family and then entered my boyband/Christina Aguilera phases.

WIP Questionaire

Thank you @worldstogetlostin for tagging me here!

Rules: Answer as many (or as few) of the questions about your WIP as you can.

1. What was the first part of your wip that you created?

My ocs, but not all of them. They were part of a separate plotline that I abandoned quickly because it was terrible and cringy. Parts of them changed as they developed, but the core of their characters began here.

The originals are: Annamarie, Rachel, Jacob, Elaine, Jol (the daemon), and Natalie (Anna's mom)

2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?

I imagine it would be like the soundtracks I listen to while writing. These include songs from Narnia, HTTYD, Pirates of the Carribean, etc. I'm no composer, so I'd trust the judgment of the music expert on the case.

3. Who are your favourite characters you've made? Why?

My automatic instinct is to jump to "all of them," but I'll be reasonable here and keep it brief because I could write an essay about each of them. I won't because a) that's ridiculous to do here, and b) a lot of this has to do with spoilers/stuff on the down-low. My Top 3 (these may be surprising or not) in no particular order are:

Seniar- He's more than Anna's dad, he's lived many lives and seen too much. He's a prince who stepped up to protect his people, defied expectations, and fell in love with a human, earned his place as a war hero, and did his best to protect and raise his daughter after everything he had known and cared for was destroyed in front of him. He might not be perfect, but he's dedicated his life to other people and still provides for his daughter despite carrying the burden of his past.

Roselle- The living dead, her existence shakes the very foundation of my other characters. After being introduced to the universe, nothing was the same, and it was all for the better. She also has this strange charm about her, like she demands attention. Her life and her death are quite possibly the 2nd and 3rd most influential factors in my entire plotline- only outdone by the destruction of Ariya. She's also on a team of her own with a willingness to overlook the rulebook, which makes her extremely fun to write.

Jacob- He's caring but distant at the same time, his family is a disaster, and he's a rule follower and a rule breaker all at once. He's an enigma and has been from the start. You think you know him, but do you really? He's always running from something, facing challenges like he's trying to prove something to himself. Him and his siblings are the driving force of a lot of plot lines, and for good reason. You just can't help but wonder whether he is a good person or a bad person, and maybe he's just both.

4. What other pieces of media do you think would share a fan base for your story?

I'm honestly not 100% sure. My inspiration to write this WIP truly started with Percy Jackson, so there could be some crossover there. Really anyone with an interest in fantasy and okay with dark subjects could find it interesting.

5. What has been your biggest struggle with your wip?

Writer's block. Whether it's because a character wasn't connecting with the action the way I wanted them to, or if I'm having a day that everything I write isn't something I'm proud of... I'm in college and work, so there's often a lot on my mind, and stress and creativity don't flow well together in my brain.

6. Are there animals in your story? Talk about them!

Anna(marie) has a cat named Isa(belle) who she picked up while moving around with her father. Isa is a beautiful and sweet black Turkish Angora whose personality is modeled after my childhood cat Belle. She's not a major focus, but she means a lot to Anna as one of the few beings she could connect with outside of her father.

All other animals are wildlife and have to do with worldbuilding, which could go crazy, so I'll stop it there.

7. How do your characters get around? (ex. trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)

While on Earth and involved in traditionally human things, they travel in cars because their goal is to blend in and hide in plain sight.

In the list of natural (magic) Hecathian abilities, one of them is Teleportation. Characters with this ability, or in proximity to someone who is, travel this way. The challenge is it takes more energy the further you are traveling and needs quite a bit of practice and discipline to do it safely and correctly. A couple examples of characters with this power are Seniar, Annamarie (duh), and Jaleya (Cameron's sister).

8. What part of your wip are you working on rn?

Chapter 16- near the middle of book 1.

Not even close to where I want to end this.

9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) of your wip do you think will draw people in?

I suppose the variety of aspects that appear. There is action, adventure, drama, complex characters and relationship dynamics, worldbuilding aspects, and the world and timeline just keeps expanding with different stories to tell. There's a lot to choose from, and it's all interconnected in the same universe.

10. What are your hopes for your wip?

I have a whole series planned, plus spin-offs and expanded stories to supplement it. I hope I have time to get through all of it because I want my main WIP and its world to someday be a complete set and no longer stuck only in my brain and scattered through thousands of notes.

But no Virmire. 8: Favorite Mission ME 1) Ilos: Find the Conduit; the music for Vigil is what sold me on that. 9: Favorite Mission ME 2) Dossier: Archangel. What? I get to find my space, hubby, don't judge, lol. 10: Favorite Mission ME 3) Priority Tuchanka, give the Krogans hope for the future, say good-bye to Mordin, watch Wrex get all mushy over Eve, what's not to cry over... uh, I mean love about this one.

11: Favorite Romance) I am proud Shakarian trash - Garrus and FemShep forever! 12: Romance I wish was in-game) Joker, that would have been a cute one to see. 13: Mako or Hammerhead) Hands down, the Mako. 14: Most Overrated character) That's a tough one, but I would probably say Udina. 15: Most Underrated character) Javick, he had so much potential and it was botched to where he was just some DLC, yet his story was supposed to be so much more than that. 16 and 17 do not apply, as I never got into the multiplayer aspect of ME 3. I am more of a story-driven gamer than anything else. 18: SR-1 or SR-2)

19: Destroy, Control, or Synthesis) Destroy, hands down, every time. I didn't max out all my resources for nothing. 20: Paragon or Renagade) Paragrade leaning more towards Paragon. Tagging @luciferbecons @thefloatingstone and @westernlarch hope you three have fun with this.
