Fandom Creator's Self-Rec Game!
Choose five favourites from your own creations (and tell me why, if you like!), then pass on to at least five other people. I'd love to hear what you're proudest of.
Thank you @aemelia for the tag haha 🫶🫶 Okay let's go:
Upcoming (harringrove, 11k, french, finished)
5 fois que Billy a essayé de faire en sorte que Steve couche avec lui avant qu’il n’ait 18 ans + 1 fois où Billy n'a rien eu à faire pour le convaincre.
I wrote this in a few days and it was so much fun, I loved it. It's also the fic that actually cured my two-year writer's block so, yep, kudos for that. It's also one of my rare finished projects and I learned a lot writing it: start smaller, don't take yourself too seriously and have fun.
(Don't) Fall Like Icarus (jjpope, 19k, french, ongoing)
Non. Non. Pas lui. Pitié."
I keep coming back to this fic from time to time haha the (season 1!) summer gays who helped me survive through quarantine are just very dear to me + who doesn't love a good X-Men AU with a winged main character?
Intoxication (Morgana x Gwaine, 1,5k words, english, finished)
"It’s been a week. A week of red lingerie, teasing hands and snogging for hours. Gwaine thinks his tongue could fall from all the cunnilinguses he has given this week. It gets him even harder though, hearing Morgana let out satisfied sigh after satisfied sigh while his balls get bluer by the second – he hates it. He loves it."
I think that's one of the hottest things I wrote for Kinkalot lmao (but also I might be biased bc I love pegging and Morgana x Gwaine are just the hottest straight ship ever - but also idc these two together need more love).
Waiting For You To Wear Me Down (merthur, 10k, english, ongoing)
"Every Friday morning, Merlin sat his arse down next to Arthur, greeting him with a shit-eating grin or a big yawn that made Arthur groan and roll his eyes, and they spent the next best three hours of their week. Not that either of them would ever admit it." o-o-o I just wanted to write about Merlin in messy eyeliner and big combat boots and Arthur in posh pastel jumpers, and, as usual, like in any universe, they fight, bicker and fall in love.
!! This is my first actual fic in English haha (I had another but it doesn't really count because it was a translation)! It was so much fun writing this first part - I learned so much British slang writing it :') I need to continue it, I have a whole part from Arthur's POV planned.
Okay last one is hard bc I either want to share a old but loved unfinished (BIG) project of mine or the 1,5k words fic about Draconic!Merlin fucking Arthur lmao
Let's go with the merthur fic because I actually don't know if I will ever finish the big project:
Draconian Diet (merthur, 1,5k words, english, finished)
"One thing he could not quite get used to though was the sheer possessiveness Merlin could exhibit sometimes (not that he had any room to talk but, still). It started small; just harsh stares at people who dared touch him in front of Merlin, then hands sparkling with magic on his shoulders, at the small of his back, pushing, tugging. Grabbing. Barely perceptible growls and blue eyes heavy on him."
OKAY DONE.
Tag : @lai-ah my beloved. @shizuumi151 I have read your kny fics (and loved them) so please feel free to do this thing haha, and well, anyone who sees this and wants to do it! 👍👍 I just don't know enough people here to tag anyone lmao

20 Fic Questions
This seems fun. Thanks to @aleheartilly for tagging me in this one. Tagging some usual suspects and anyone else who wants to give it a go - @gardengalwrites @suleikashideaway @sevlinop @mathiwrites @lenorelovesmax
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 14.
2. What's your total AO3 word count? 109,028.
3. What fandoms do you write for? Mainly FFVIII. I've written one Hazbin Hotel fic. I'd really like to branch out.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
The Winner Takes it All (Hazbin Hotel) (75)
Chaos Theory (47)
Silver Anniversary (11)
Balamb Harbor Playhouse (10)
Heavenly Bodies (9)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I do respond to comments, mostly because I really appreciate what my readers have to say and I want to make sure they know that! Writing is so much better with community around it.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I don't know if I can classify any of my fic endings as angry. Maybe Heavenly Bodies? Shit, I need to stop ending on a hopeful note all the time...
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Most of my fics have happy endings, or if not happy, at least hopeful or heartwarming. The happiest might be the Ballad of Ma Dincht but it's a toss-up.
8. Do you get hate on fics? Back in my youth, writing on FFN, I got hate from time to time, and I got hate in my college writing program, haha. BUT since I returned to writing fanfiction this year, there has only been love and it makes my soul sing.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? The closest I've come to smut is Heavenly Bodies and I am not even sure if that qualifies. I'd like to keep trying at it but I think I'll have to keep things steeped in metaphor. My asexual ass likes the choreography of it but the actual hardware makes me uncomfortable.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? I haven't yet but I am not opposed. Someday I'd like to write an FFVIII-Star Wars crossover but I am scared of publishing anything Star Wars.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? As far as I know, no.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? No, but I am definitely open to it with the right project and partner!
14. What's your all-time favourite ship? Squinoa forever and for always.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? Don't Be Afraid - if I do finish it I think it needs to become something else.
16. What are your writing strengths? I have been told that I am very good at writing things in-universe and making dialogue sound like something that character would actually say. I think, weirdly enough, I am good at this because I spent so many years working in marketing and comms - I know how to pick up on voice and create something in that tone.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? I noticed that I rarely physically describe characters, which isn't a huge deal in fanfiction, but something I need to be mindful of. Then spelling, syntax, grammar, etc. I know I have more flaws as a writer but I am having a day where I cannot focus on my weaknesses too long haha.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? As a reader, if your character speaks another language, it's important that they use it, even if I have to translate it or deal with not understanding the line. As a writer, I don't know any other language well enough to write a line of dialogue in it. I wouldn't want to use Google Translate for something like that so I would only do this if I had another way to verify that the dialogue made sense.
19. First fandom you wrote for? My first published fanfic was for FFVIII when I was 13. But before that, I rewrote the ending of Because of Winn Dixie when I was 11.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written? I think my favorite overall is Silver Anniversary. At this Moment has the best concept behind it. And then I hope you love the flowers as much as I do has the prettiest prose.

20 Questions For Fic Writers
thank you @wilmonsfolklore for the tag 💜
disclosure to start with: i have 2 ao3 accounts and the other one has been very much abandoned for reasons.
How many works do you have on Ao3?
eight.
What's your total Ao3 word count?
right now 43,384.
What fandoms do you write for?
currently, only young royals.
Top five fics by kudos
(i am going to be annoying and not share links because, again, there is a reason that other account has been abandoned.)
always losing to win
thank you
need somebody to knock me out
keep your eyes peeled
tied between the moment before and 1000 miles
Do you respond to comments?
yes! it might take me a while, but i do. (i am, however, the absolutely worst at leaving comments myself.)
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
i think the right answer is a fic i wrote for a friend that only exists in her birthday card. of the ones i've published, it might be need somebody to knock me out.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
what if i haven't written it yet? (in other words, wilmon endgame in every universe.)
Do you get hate on fics?
no.
Do you write smut?
yes.
Craziest crossover:
haven't written crossovers.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
no. the perks of being in a tiny fandom before i guess.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
no.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
i was going to say no, but there might have been a thing we started with a friend but never published, so maybe yes.
All time favourite ship?
gotta say wilmon. (but also in a very iykyk manner - and aging myself - against all odds i loved sernando back in the day.)
What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
there is a doc sitting on the desktop of my old laptop that i started in 2017, i think. it sat there while i did a whole degree and i opened it like once a year, thinking i'd do something with it. i didn't, even though i sort of still like the premise.
What are your writing strengths?
i feel like someone else should answer this for me. in a way the fact that i'm writing at all? oh, actually! i love to do my research and hope that shows.
What are your writing weaknesses?
when things get out of hand, they truly get out of hand. (i write quite a lot for work but have character/word limits, so the fact that i can write without those is so liberating.) also, the fact that i don't describe surroundings/what things look like etc. i like it when others do, but it's not something that comes naturally to me. plus maybe the fact that since english isn't my first language, my vocabulary is somewhat limited.
Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
love it. however, i'm a very all or nothing person, so i don't do it myself. (unless you want all dialogue in swedish, which i'm sure no one does.)
First fandom you wrote in?
i have roots in sports rpf and i'm not ashamed of it.
Favourite fic you've written?
since always losing to win is still very much a wip, i'm going to say 1000 miles. i just loved doing research for it and may have spent hours looking up different cars, photography techniques and hotels in california that have the right kind of pool.
no tags, but if someone wants to do this, i'm going to love reading the answers.

thanks for the tag @thelastplantagenet <3
for the sake of this tag game i'll only be using my main/current ao3 account to answer with. otherwise it'll get far too messy
1. How many fics do you have on AO3?
53, and i only made this account and started posting on it in january of this year. i'm very normal
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
144,946
3. What fandoms do you write for?
mostly just mat fandoms to be honest, although i've got like... 4? non-mat fics on this account. i will be disregarding those 4 fics from now on (because obviously bigger fandoms get more recognition and this is a Mat Account)
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
- Cold Turkey - 24 kudos, pat/thomas
- Performance - 22 kudos, thomas/julian, thomas/getting bukkaked by all the ghosts
- Follow Through - 22 kudos, alison/thomas
- Simon Says - 20 kudos, mat/simon
- Permanently - 16 kudos, julian/thomas
obviously since ghosts is the biggest mat show, it makes sense (not really anyone reading fics for ymata, spy, the wrong mans, etc)
5. Do you respond to comments?
i'm a lazy shit, and usually forget. when my friends comment they also tend to message me about it in the mat discord (if you're 18+ and want to join hmu it's a lot of fun) where i post all my fics too, so i tend to reply to them over there to be honest, but sometimes when i remember or am particularly touched by a comment i will go and reply
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
definitely "tell me what you imagine, when you think of me." rip ariel. literally
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
okay well it's not actually finished yet, though i have a good idea of where i'm taking it when i get around to writing more, but i'd say Fixer-Upper probably. chris waltzes into joe's life, improves it, then starts giving him lots of kinky sex while they also dance around ~actually dating~ (which they will end up doing properly. when i get around to writing it)
8. Do you get hate on fics?
generally, no. i make it clear what my fics contain, whether that's kinks, rpf, dubcon/noncon, etc, so most people know not to click if they're not interested. i did have a hate comment on simon says a while back, i remember because it was genuinely funny
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
yes, lol. and all kinds, ranging from sweet to kinky as sin
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
i write many crossovers, i mean. i write a lot of mat character/mat character so like chris x joe (spy x reluctant persuaders), ariel x chris (ymata x spy), but yeah they're only really crossovers in the sense that i'm like hmm this mat character should fuck/date this mat character. the only ones i *properly* create a believable crossover world for are my chris x joe fics, because i'm very normal about them
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
don't see why anyone would bother stealing mine, the mat fandom is so tiny there's not much to steal. emma @toomanyfandomsneverenoughtime has written a few fics based on my favourite chris x joe crossover world i created, though, which isn't stealing but the greatest gift ever <3
12. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
no, actually! i would 1000000% cowrite with emma though. if she wanted to :3
13. What's your all time favourite ship?
look. look.l ook. i can't choose between ariel x jamie and chris x joe but if i had to. chris x joe lol
14. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?
i fully intend to finish my wips! i have the next chapter and a half written for Paid in Trade, i just haven't published it, and i've also got further plans for Fixer-Upper, and those are my only wips. most of my fics just tend to be smutty oneshots tbh
15. What are your writing strengths?
i write pretty good smut when i actually put in the effort, as opposed to being like oh god i have this smutty idea and i need to get it out of my head so i'm just gonna write it all in two hours and then post it because why not
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
having patience. i'm trying to write a longer sam/marat fic at the moment but i just keep wanting to rush ahead to the good bit rather than drag out the slow burn, even though i really want to. i'm impatient af tbh
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
i only speak english and would probably definitely butcher another language. however if i ever have a need for a character to speak another language, i would probably make it czech so i could get @the-illuminated-one to provide me with actual sensical sentences as opposed to google translating it
18. First fandom you wrote for?
ohhhh wow kingdom hearts lol. but those are all wiped from the internet. there's still some ancient glee fics i wrote out there though, which came right after the kh era
19. Favourite fic you've written?
keeping it within the mat fandoms once again (otherwise i will just talk about my jopper fake dating fic which i am still so fucking proud of lol), probably come closer (ariel x jamie), but there's also a few fics i'm working on that are completely unpublished atm that i am very very attached to haha
and now for tagging. i tag @toomanyfandomsneverenoughtime, @sonnet-of-anarchy, @kore538, @goodonecap. no pressure, i just love u guys and know u all write. xo

Tagged by @wondrouswendy! Thanks for the tag!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Just 9 fics so far.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
70,681
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Alan Wake. In the past I've written for Leverage and a few others, but not consistently.
4. Top five fics by kudos
I Know A Few People - Peter Burke & Eliot Spencer, a White Collar/Leverage crossover fic
Definitely Unusual - Nathan Ford/Eliot Spencer, a Leverage fic
Ichabod vs. the Government Shutdown - Ichabod Crane & Abbie Mills, a Sleepy Hollow fic
Ragnarök - Odin Anderson/Thomas Zane, an Alan Wake fic
Letting Go - Nathan Ford, a Leverage fic
5. Do you respond to comments?
I didn't in the past because I have awful social anxiety, but I do now because I know how hard it is to leave comments and I want to be sure readers know how much I appreciate them.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Ragnarök, by far. That ending was incredibly difficult and emotional to write.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Gods in Disguise, my latest Odin/Zane one-shot has a pretty happy ending despite the tragedy that awaits those characters in the future.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No, I don't think I've published enough yet.
9. Do you write smut?
Absolutely. I'm not sure I could write an Odin/Zane fic at this point that didn't contain smut.
10. Craziest crossover?
Probably one of the first fics I ever wrote, a dumb The X-Files/Dark Tower series by Stephen King crossover. Not my proudest moment but we all have to start somewhere.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
lol, no. I haven't published enough and my work isn't popular enough.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope
14. All time favourite ship?
If we're talking ships I actually write, then by far Odin/Zane. All-time favorite ship though is probably tied between Mulder/Scully and House/Wilson.
15. What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I don't have any WIPs other than Ragnarök's sequel, and I'm most definitely finishing that one.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Descriptions and character development. I'm currently writing characters with little canon development, so I've essentially turned them into OCs and it's been a lot of fun to develop their voices. Hopefully I'm good at writing smut, because I quite enjoy writing it!
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Reusing imagery. When I find something I like, it's hard to resist using it again. I also put way too much stock in external validation, which is... tough when you're writing an extreme rarepair. Writing really brings out a lot of my mental health demons and it's difficult to stay positive and motivated sometimes.
18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
If it fits the character.
19. First fandom you wrote in?
The X-Files - that crossover fic I mentioned above.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
Ragnarök. I took what was supposed to be a simple exploration into a sparsely-detailed canon event and turned it into an intense tragic love story. While I've written smut before, I'd never written romance and it was challenging and extremely rewarding. I'm now working on the sequel to that fic, and have plans for a third longfic and several other one-shots. It's also the first longfic I've completed, so it will always be special for that reason.
I'll tag @autisticwriterblog and @annachibi (if you've been tagged already, sorry for the spam!)❤️

@kritischetheologie tagged me for the 20 questions for writers game, thank you c!!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
twenty!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
76,628. it's kinda insane that i wrote 51k under just six months last year.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
currently only writing for f1, but i've published works for star wars, peaky blinders, the old guard and batman. on another account that has been liquidated many years ago i had footy rpf and teen wolf fics.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
carry each other (hal jordan/bruce wayne), worked the blade (seb/mick), to the finnish line (seb/charles/kimi), spoils of war (seb/mick) and a favour returned (seb/lewis).
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
i do, unless it only says "please write more of this", because i don't have anything polite to reply. but i love getting replies from authors too, so only fair to return the favor. there are definitely times when i just re-read a bunch of comments and they can really help to lift my mood or feel better about my writing.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
lmao that would be the prince au break up sex fic, someday to say out loud. making george ask alex to tell him he loves him even if it isn't true and ensuring that he can't and won't believe him... partly why it's hard for me to go back to writing prince au is because it was very easy for me to project my unmedicated depression onto george, and (thank god) i'm not in that place anymore.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
mmhh my star wars fic maybe? i'm not overly fond of happy endings, the best i deal out is a hopeful but kinda open ending. out of my f1 fic it's a favour returned, i guess -- there's some talk about longer term commitment and trying and failing to say that they like like each other, or consolation prize, where mick admits twice that he's been thinking about seb.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
not in the classical sense i guess or not that i've seen.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
boy do i. i mostly write smut and use it as a catalyst to nudge a relationship to another level. i don't really get the what kind? question. what kinds are there? wholegrain?
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
haven't written one yet, but i've been toying with the idea of an f1 and the expendables crossover.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
if i had a nickel for every time someone pulled entire lines from a fic of mine and barely paraphrased them, i would have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
on my old ao3 account, yes! i haven't been approached on the new one and i don't think i'd give permission now.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
prince au aka the myth of devotion with gabby @prettydangrotten. sorry to be sappy on main but galex truly one of the best things on the internet that's happened to me just for the friends i've made because of them :)))
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
all time? propably stiles/derek or eames/arthur from inception. also it was sterek that first got me to tumblr, back in like 2012 or something.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
ugh right now it feels like i'll never finish anything again. but i have a long star wars wip that's like 75% done but i haven't touched for three years. there's a roc sebmick fic i started and i actually know how it should go from start to finish, but i've been struggling with writing this year, so, i don't know.
16. What are your writing strengths?
i've been told the internal struggle/tension that narrator is facing is pretty tight and i do agree :) i also think the porn i write is nicely physical and pretty hot.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
longfic. like. i wish i could do it -- i had a 54k wip on my old ao3 account -- but i don't have the energy or the commitment. this is also why i struggle with WTB and SOW -- i want to write more to both but i feel like they are snappy and valuable as they are and i'm worried i'll ruin that if i add more.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
english isn't my first langauge so all dialogue is in another language in fic for me. i'm not super fond of adding another language on top pf that.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
teen wolf!
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
spoils of war or prince au. prince au has probably the most of me and gabby is incredible and one of the best writers and kindest persons i know and i feel incredibly fortunate to have created something with her. spoils of war was a challenge on a lot of fronts but i'm proud of the storyline and it has some of the best lines i have ever written i think. and it got @antimonyandthyme and me very close :))
aaaand i'm gonna tag @prettydangrotten @des-iderate @grideon @antimonyandthyme and @husbono.

20 QUESTIONS FOR FIC WRITERS
thanks @commanderfoxdeservesbetter for the tag!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
105! hit 100 over febuwhump.
2. What is your total AO3 word count?
167,182!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
star wars: the clone wars is the main fandom, but i've also written some stuff for alex rider! and a few gift fics for jedi fallen order, marvel, and doctor who.
4. What are you top five fics by kudos?
no. 1 is 'connection is what saves us' (which makes me happy, because it only recently overtook second place and i like to see a fox-centric whump fic on top).
no. 2 is 'the food's too sweet'.
no. 3 is 'an acceptable loss'.
no. 4 is 'no stranger to guilt'.
no. 5 is 'dead men feel no guilt for dying'.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
yes! sometimes it might take a few days, but i always love the opportunity to ramble about my fics some more!
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
given that 99% of what i write is whump, this one is a tricky one. if you hate major character death then i recently started writing a few fics for the 'kill a character bingo' prompts. but if you, like me, believe in fates worse than death, then i would probably say 'cut abruptly short' had the angstiest ending (lining up with canon in terms of the tragedy of order 66, with an added element of angst from the theme that i used for the fic - "force sensitivity as horror").
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
another tricky one! because despite everything, i've realised that i've actually been pretty good with at least writing a hopeful ending into my fics. so with that in mind i'm going to take the opportunity to plug my favourite (only slightly angsty at the start) crack fic of all time, 'follow the leader'. perhaps the happy ending is more implied than explored, but still, :D
8. Do you get hate on fics?
nope!
9. Do you write smut?
not at the minute, i suck ass at writing romance so it would probably only ever be part of some depraved angst bs.
10. Do you write crossovers?
not yet, but i have a few that i'd like to take a stab at one day, if the inspiration strikes. bioshock, batman, doctor who... many possibilities.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
luckily, not that i'm aware of!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
nope!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic?
i am currently co-writing a fic, but it is a long way off from being published! really really looking forward to sharing it, though, it's going to be a beautiful combination of angst, crack, and time travel :D
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
i don't really ever ship anyone! it just isn't my cup of tea, usually, unless the ship is dangling the carrot of angst in front of me. the only ship i'd say that i ever enjoyed exploring was thoschei (the doctor/the master) from doctor who. lots of potential for a supremely fucked up or fun dynamic, haha. i suppose i should also mention shadowgast from cr2, i was rooting for that throughout the part of that campaign i watched live.
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
well if you want the nice answer, i'll say the isolation au as a whole, but that's because i don't think i'm going to run out of ideas for it any time soon! if you want the less nice answer, then i have been struggling with the long fic sequel to 'dead men feel no guilt for dying' for over a year now. i have loads of cool scenes outlined and fun ideas, but still haven't been able to settle on an overarching plot that i like! it's very annoying. massive kudos to multichapter fic writers!
16. What's your writing strengths?
i think i do well with structuring my fics. i enjoy figuring out how to write things that flow together, or mirror other scenes. one of my favourite fics to write was 'reiterate, relearn', which i think is a prime example of this!
17. What's your writing weaknesses?
hate writing dialogue! very rarely does it come naturally, which i think is because i characterise everyone sliiiiightly different in most of the fics i write, depending on the au that they're in. most of these guys also don't have much in the way of canon dialogue to go by!
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
hahaha, mando'a is really something i should have tried to incorporate more of! i like it as a fandom/legends trait for the clones, but it would require me putting actually thought and planning into my fics.... and alas!
19. First fandom you wrote for?
if we're counting before i knew fanfic was a thing, i guess it would be pokemon mystery dungeon oc fics in a notebook when i was like, 8. if you're talking fic that i've intentionally written, is was for the jse ego fandom; a bit of a niche community surrounding certain arg-like videos by jacksepticeye!
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
oh boy.... too many choices. as a i say above, i think 'follow the leader' was definitely one of my favourites to write, but i think my favourite as a whole has to be 'in thanks they will keep him forever'. not putting something from the isolation au here was a tough call, because those first three fics were genuinely a blast to write, but 'in thanks' was such fun to plot out, and so self indulgent - wait! that means i totally have done a crossover fic, technically! but i won't count it, because 'in thanks' only contains a single monster from doctor who, adapted to star wars for coruscant guard horror purposes. as i say, very niche, very self-indulgent, and i definitely i want to write more stuff like it in the future!
----------------
okay, this was a bunch of fun, i always like the excuse to read back through old fics! if @stardustloki, or @amberskyyking want to do this, or anyone else who thinks this looks fun, then here you go!

20 questions for fic writers
I was tagged by a couple of people and I can't remember who, but thank you guys!!!
1. How many works do you have on A03?
18
2. What's your total A03 word count?
165,660 and 140k of that is from just this year!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Legend of Zelda and Linked Universe, although I do have one Ao No Exorcist/Blue Exorcist manga fic that isn't finished yet and I plan to finish at some point. I have a Sonic the Hedgehog AU too but that isn't published and is only for me.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Recharge
For the Want of a Breath (surprised this one is so high on the list)
Hyrule and Wild Have a Hard Time (My personal Fave)
LU Whump Dump
Secret of the Sea Cave (Beats out Yukio Turn on the Light by 1 kudos)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Most of them yes. I tend to save up comments and answer like 20 of them in a day to save time/energy.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
That's gotta be Yukio Turn on the Light for sure (it's a story about a suicidal boy being talked back from the brink by his dead dad in order to prevent Satan from taking over the world), although Ghost Story will have a very angsty ending too (story about nine ghosts that need help making peace with their regrets so they can pass into the afterlife).
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Mmmm... that would be my FMA:B fic Actually I'm Not Sorry which is an epilogue to the manga/anime
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not really hate but I've gotten a couple critical comments here or there. On Recharge I've gotten quite a few "Where's the rest of this fic? Hurry up and write it B(&%^" or variations of that. That's why I abandoned it.
9. Do you write smut?
🤢🤮oh heck no
10. Do you write crossovers?
Never. I don't like the foods on my plate to touch so to speak.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of. I probably wouldn't know if it was.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but I've podficed one.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No. When I was a kid I used to co-write original stories with my sister though.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Merthur (Arthur and Merlin from the Merlin TV show). Also Sam & Jack from Stargate SG1
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
The Sign of the Wolf is an unpublished hibernating WIP that is a long and meandering story about a depressed post LU Wild making peace with the loss of his 8 brothers after their adventure together ended. The main premise is that each of the other Links hid care packages around his Hyrule and Wild has to go on a scavenger hunt to find them.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue comes easily to me and characterizations as long as I can figure out what makes each character think.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Dialogue tags are annoying. So are boring scenes and transition scenes. And I'm terrible about knowing what things to shorten/cut out of the story.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Uhhh I have no thoughts? This hasn't really come up much except for sign language.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Well if you count my very first story ever I wrote at age 9 which was a Lord of the Rings superhero AU, then LotR. Otherwise, it was Sonic the Hedgehog.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
I gotta say: Skulltula and Thunder.

20 Questions For Fic Writers
tagged by @jesse-is-spiralling thank you it was lots of fun!
How many works do you have on ao3?
20
What's your total ao3 word count?
105,809
What fandoms do you write for?
Tgcf, genshin impact, kny and no home are the fandoms I have more than 1 published works in, but I have wips for witch hat atelier, svsss, mdzs, harry potter, hsr, jjba and bg3
Top five fics by kudos:
Aniki is Getting Married?! (ayaitto)
I See The Crystal Raindrops Fall (inotan)
The Night Breeze Carries Something Sweet (inotan)
Raccoon Dianxia Finds Treasure! (hualian)
Confession (Eunyung/Haejoon)
Do you respond to comments?
Mostly yes!:) I'm not always sure what to say, but comments mean a lot to me, and I respond whenever I can:)
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I don't really write sad endings, but maybe To Darken Fading Summer Skies. It's pretty short, though, and I actually have a sequel outlined (will it see the light of the day?) with a happy ending, so none, hehe.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I'm not sure! 95% that are finished are happy:)
Do you get hate on fics?
People have always been very sweet:)
Do you write smut?
I've written smut before, but I wouldn't consider it my main genre at all. I love reading smut though, and I have great respect for those who write it well! It's hard! It's a skill! Tell me your secret!
Craziest crossover:
I have never written a crazy crossover (I dream of the day I will be able to write a fic like how many old gods does it take to end a war (marvel x tgcf) by unfortunategay. I'm still obsessed).
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No, I don't think so.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes, twice, it's the greatest honor!:) I have one fic translated into Italian and one into Russian.
Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
No. It sounds a little scary, but I'm sure it's probably lots of fun! One day, I'd love to try!
All time favourite ship?
Hualian, all the way. They're everything I like in a ship; opposites who are more similar than how they first appear, outcasts who find a meaning and a home in the other, people who suffered too much but still get to have a happy ending. They're tragic but happy, they're obsessive but healthy, and the best thing is that they can't even be separated by death.
What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
There's a wolfstar canon-divergence fic I really want to write where an accident happens during The Prank and it changes everything, even the war. Writing long stories scares me though, but I still hope I'll push through one day. Oh, and there's also a very smutty omegaverse-like durgetash fic I want to write with the original Dark Urge, but well, smut isn't my strength hehe.
What are your writing strengths?
Semi-good ideas, maybe? Also, somehow I feel like I write animals well. It's probably because of Gerald Durrell books.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Actually writing. I'm so bad at finishing stuff. I struggle to get the descriptions to flow well, I overanalyze everything, and as someone whose first language isn't english, I'm always very scared that my sentences end up very awkward and strange without me having the faintest idea, but I suppose these are all things that should get better with practice. Still, it's a struggle.
Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
I haven't been in a spot yet where I had to write dialogue in another language like that. I love when other authors do it, especially when it's latin or french or a language I have no idea about (google translate go brr).
First fandom you wrote in?
Miraculous Ladybug, and I wrote smut(!) in my mother language when I was like 13-14? Thankfully it is lost to time (or is probably in my old friend's dms, but I won't go digging). Those superheroes had a chokehold on me and so many of my classmates.
Favourite fic you've written?
Right now it's probably Next time, bring a napkin; I think it turned out funny.
Consider yourself tagged and invited to do this challenge if it appears on your dash and you're in any way interested!:)

20 questions for fic writers
Just because i saw it and wanted to 😂
How many works do you have on ao3?
138
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
2,336,801
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Started with Warehouse 13 and bering and wells, then wandered into OUAT and Swanqueen, then DWP and Mirandy, then a stint in Pitch Perfect 2 specifically for Becommissar because mmm Kommissar, a blip into Supergirl some for Supercat, more for General Danvers (tangentially also Supercorp but that's more for the fact that I run the chirstmas exchange than anything, love those kids, not my usual ship), and a crossover or two with Legends of Tomorrow with Supercanaary in there too in that same era, two seconds in ot3 shipping in The Greatest Showman because Jenny Lind mhm, one fic in Steven Universe because poly!diamonds, then into Harry Potter for anything to do with the Black Sisters and Hermione and occasionally Lucius which is still on going, but a bit backburnered because I've also fallen into writing fic for The Librarians this year centered around some pairing of Cassandra, Eve and Jenkins for the most part. Basically. It's a lot, and a lot of bouncing around between larger eras in specific fandoms lol.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Ask me No Questions (I'll Tell You No Lies) [HP Hermione/Narcissa/Anathema], Heaven When We're Home [HP Hermione/Narcissa], By All Accounts [Supergirl, Supercorp (apprciate you guys but I'm still confused by that😂)], Coffee Shops and Vigilantes [Supergirl/Legends of Tomorrow, Supercanary], Sincerely Yours [HP Hermione scores a hat trick]
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to as much as possible, especially in smaller fandoms. Sometimes I get a bit overwhelmed at it falls by the wayside, but I come back eventually.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Uhhhhhh there's usually one in every fandom I stay in for long enough where I just go full nuclear angst and no happy ending. Probably the worst of the worst Offenders is "I Hate to Kill You (I Hate to Die)" for obvious reasons if you've read it, but "of all the things I never told you" and "Halfway Through the Woods" are also up there and in probably last place but still *very* angsty is "Better This Way"
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hard to pick. Save for those fics I'm a happy ending hoe. Probably the most rewarding happy ending will be for "The Sun Must Set to Rise" but that isn't published yet. I'm actually procrastinating the wrap up that story right now by doing this 😂😅
8. Do you get hate on fic?
Out right "you suck" hate? Once or twice. But there has been whining in the past on my stories about how I never finish anything or that I update too slow and why am I like this. *Those comments get responded to with some lessons in manners*
9. Do you write smut?
*looks at the tab beside Sun Must Set to Rise* I have no idea what you're talking about. But yeah, some pwp but a lot of smut as the pay off in long fics to put that cherry on top of them.
10. Do you write crossovers?
Have before, though they aren't my main thing, and unclear if Supergirl/Legends counts since like. The shows actually did that themselves once a season 😂
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I think I ended up on a scraping website that people posted about on tumblr all of once. Not mad about not having to fight that lol.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I've had people ask before, but they're on different databases than ao3 so I haven't really checked on how that went for them.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Several! Two of my closest fandom friends have cowritten with me and one IRL friend. Some of them got finished, others did not, but it was fun along the way.
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
??????? I know there are people out there who have stuck in one fandom and only one fandom for longer than I've been writing and they definitely have the answer to this, but I have ADHD and doooooo not. If I had to pick at gunpoint, I'd probably say Harry Potter Hat Trick, but unless you point a gun at me I'm not answering.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but probably won’t?
Probably "Sometimes it's Soft Hands and Mailing Envelopes" it was a big part of my life in 2015 and I obsessed over it and wrote it and its sequel at such a fast pace, especially for going into my senior year of college. But I've reread the prequel and it's cute and I started reading it over again and just went 'I know where I wanted this to go, I can see how I would get there, I don't want to do that though' because it's a very slice of life story about moving in with your girlfriend and both you and your girlfriend navigating a new job/grad school and I've lived both of those experiences now, and especially I do not want to relive grad school, but also I don't usually write long slice of life things anymore. Sci-fi/fantasy and plot heavy for lyfe lol. But I do wish I had finished it at the time.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think over arching plot, like I'm good at fitting the pieces together where they need to go to make a believable story, which is good when you tend towards writing more mystery-esque 'solve a problem' fic. Also dialogue as a secondary. There is no struggle here to make these bitches say words.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I have DEBILITATING wordy bitch disease. This could be managed if I edited stories before posting them, but I don't. I'm doing well to edit my original work, thanks. So it leads to a lot of fics that are probably 20-50k too long and drag on the point for a bit. I *have* gotten better at it though. The White Queen is probably 100k too long oh my god, I try to forget she exists, even if it's one of the most popular fics I've written.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I have before, mostly in Pitch Perfect since Kommissar is German. It was a good experience. I probably wouldn't do it again unless I either knew the language or it was made up. In text notes so the reader gets what was said are the most awkward thing to deal with in the history of ever.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Warehouse 13. I hadn't known about fic for that long before starting to write for it. I also hadn't realized that I was a big ole homo, which in the late 00s/early 10s fanfic was the only fucking way I was going to see two ladies kiss and by god I was going to leverage the award winning writing skills I had gained writing terrible, original, teenager ficition to do it.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
I think for a long, long time it was Of Cats, Giraffes, and Mice. It's just so very soft and caring and for a long while I could just feel that care and sink right into it and it just felt like the best thing I'd ever written. Rereading it now, it's still a very good fic, but I'm starting to see the little holes here and there as I grow as a writer. It's still good! I love it to death, and to talk about favorites without it would be incomplete, but I think that it's important to mention that even your best work eventually loses a bit of shine, no less dear, a huge stepping stone in the right direction, just not the top one anymore.
I think now my favorite is Heaven When We're Home. It has all of those hallmarks that Of Cats, Giraffes, and Mice did, if shorter, and there's a lyrical note to the writing and word choice in it that I have NO idea how I did (not being sober when writing probably didn't hurt) and I'm still chasing that sort of writing even now 2 years later.

Thanks to @tleeaves for the tag, here is my answer:
When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💖
They're all TLH/TID fandom, and this isn't a ranking from my most favourite to the least favourite, the order is random.
1. How (not) to end a feud
49,011 words, complete. It's a Grace/Christopher that starts with the premise that thr Clave is tired from the 25 years feud between the Lightwoods and the Blackthorns and decides to settle it down with a wedding. I always loved the arranged marriage trope and I had this idea, but I also loved how it developed in something totally different. Also, I'm proud because it's the longest fanfic that I could finish.
2. Geranium
16,047 words, ongoing (estimated word count after completion: about 28,000). It's a story with delicate themes and a lot of traumas, it started as a Gracetopher but slowly the mother-daughter relationship between Cecily and Grace became more important than the romance, because in this story Grace needs a mother figure more than she needs a boyfriend.
3. That one time in the Institute
3,657 words, complete, Gabriel/Cecily. I loved writing from young and asshole Gabriel’s POV, it was funny describing him acting like the Alpha Male but actually 99% of his thoughts are about Cecily. I always say it's the funniest PWP I've ever written, which may be confusing if you haven’t read it, but I swear you’ll understand (and laugh) if you read it.
4. Still insists she sees the ghosts
724 words, Gabriel/Cecily, ongoing (estimated word count after completion: about 25,000). A fanfic that started as "ahah I have this funny idea of Gabrily going on an adventure, solving mysteries and there is smut too" and now is "anxiety, unresolved trauma, toxic parenthood, panic attacks and some other stuff". I am proud of how it is coming off, and I hope you will like it too.
5. Endless Sunlight (is it cheating if it's not published yet?)
I think this may be my best Gracetopher, at least until I write Bloodbound. It's about Grace, not accepting Kit’s death after 2 years, and finding a way to reach him in Thule. The problem is that Thule!Kit is much closer to Tom Rogan from It than to canon!Christopher, and their relationship will start as very toxic and unbalanced.
I tag @fimproda because obviously I do and @livia-dovehallow bc I haven’t seen her tagged yet.

fic writer interview.
found this in the tags while I was browsing & thought it could be a fun way to end 2022! i am not tagging anyone, but if you'd like to fill it out, then feel free to copy + paste it to a new post!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Eleven, soon to be twelve!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
113,915
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Marvel (The Avengers, Moon Knight), Star Wars (The Mandalorian, Andor), The Last of Us, The Bubble, and Stranger Things
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Point A to Point B (493)
Where Shadows Meet Spaces (356)
Meet Me at the Usual (277)
A First for Breathing (226)
Meet Me On the Other Side (118)
5. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Every single one, no matter how long or how short! Reblogs on tumblr and replies/comments under the posts are literally my life source to keep me going through the day. I try to make sure I don't miss a single response if I can help it.
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
It isn't finished yet, but I have the finale outlined for Famous Last Words as I only have two more parts to go. (That I intend to finish some day I promise!) Same Old Mistakes will have the angstiest ending out of all of my fics.
7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
I do not. I totally could one day, though. Just has to have the right mood.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
No! Luckily I am fortunate enough to say that I have been given only constructive criticism to my fics, which is not equivalent to hate.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do! I actually really get nervous about writing smut. Like it'll take me eons to write smut chapters versus normal chapters because they're the pieces of writing I'm most self conscious about. (Even if... nearly all of my works constitute as smut-based fics.) I primarily write f/m smut just because... well, it just happens that way? And I write smut for me, so I don't primarily write things that I don't find hot. Because fic-writing it's about self-indulging, baybeeee.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No! Not that I am aware of, anyway. Hopefully not, because stealing fics is lame.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I'm aware of, no.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I'm actually more well-versed in roleplay writing than I am with fanfics, so I want to say... yes? Because I've written collaborative stories with friends that I've just never published to the public, but it's a long-winded way of say yes and also no.
13. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
I don't know if I have one? I write mainly reader insert because I would be writing original character x canon fic, but they don't typically sell well, so I adopted 2nd person writing to get with the times.
In terms of readership, I loved Buffy/Spike from BtVS as a kid, Garrus x Sheppard from Mass Effect 3, Zutara from ATLA, Jack & Elizabeth from POTC, Obidala, Dramione, Reylo... I'm typically a big proponent of enemies to lovers, if that hasn't been obvious yet, lol.
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I have a Succession fanfiction that is extremely dark and 'dead dove don't eat' territory that I've had sitting in my google docs for over a year now. I think it's some of my best writing, but I know that it's extremely taboo and very much not safe for work, so I struggle with posting it despite how I go back to read it all the time lol. I write a really good Kendall Roy, guys!
15. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue. I went to school and have a degree in pre-production motion picture and television writing, so screenwriting is my niche little hobby that I wanted to turn into a career and never did. That being said, I think that I can really pick up on dialect of characters and actors very well in order to translate them into original pieces / fanfiction, so I think most of my strengths lie within my verbal writing.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Description. I absolutely loathe writing long paragraphs and descriptors and tend to gloss over when others write very long paragraph writing. My attention span just cannot handle non-quippy and whippy writing, and that goes for myself as well. I'd rather just write the dialogue and the drama going on between interpersonal relationships, and tend to struggle with setting up locations and atmospheres in a broader, descriptive sense vs. abstract.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I don't do it because I would have to use Google Translator and that's a total gamble, but I admire those who can and do fluently. I can read Spanish, but I cannot write it. The closest we get is me writing Din speaking in Mando'a and quite honestly I do not know if those translations are even real / up to Wookiepedia code lol.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Y'all are going to lose. your. shit over this.
Jimmy Neutron. I was nine years old. A 12-part story I still say is my best work 😂
19. What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
Point A to Point B will likely be my favorite. I have put so much of my heart and soul in that storytelling and world crafting that I'd be remiss to suggest anything else.

Thank you @suchagallabitch for tagging me to do this Fic Writer Interview!
(I also did some picrews at the bottom)
1. How many works do you have on Ao3?
34
2. What's your total Ao3 word count?
127,463
3. What are your top five fics by Kudos?
My top three are all three of the shameless fics that I have written, 4th and 5th are fics from another fandom.
4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to! Sometimes there's only so many ways I can say 'thank you' to someone so I won't respond to every single one, but I definitely read all of them.
5. What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
I would say all three of my shameless fics have happy endings, allthough shut the door and let go is very bittersweet when you know what happens next in canon.
If we're talking non-shameless fics, I did write mcd in my other fandom (nothing too crazy) and you can find that fic here.
6. What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
When all is said and done definitely has the happiest ending if we're talking about the context of all three of these fics. Most of my other fics have pretty happy endings as well.
7. Do you write crossovers?
No. Not my thing.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Not necessarily hate, but I have received some weird comments in the past.
9. Do you ever write smut? If so, what kind?
Yep! I never used to so you won't find it in any of my old fics, but all three of my shameless fics have smut in them so.....character development. 😂
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but that would be cool!
12. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
I've cowritten several fics with my girlfriend! My favourite of ours that we did is for the rest of our lives. Not a shameless fic, but I'm still proud of it.
13. What's your all time favourite ship?
I'm about to betray my branding here, but just because of how much time I spent in that fandom and how hard I was hyperfixating (and still am, let's be honest) it still has to be Dan and Phil.
If you have problems with that I don't want to hear it I've already heard it all and I'm tired okay thank you.
14. What's a WIP you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
I had planned out a whole chaptered fic to write and then completely fell off for months after getting overwhelmed. I still really love the idea but the task was a little too much for me and I just don't think I have chaptered-fic writing in me anymore.
15. What are your writing strengths?
I'm really good at coming up with different ideas. I also really love going into detail and trying to describe everything I see in my mind. I can see my fics play like movies in my brain, so sometimes it's a little overwhelming trying to get it all into words.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Transitions. The less a scene has going on in it, the harder it is to write. I also suck at time management, and consistency in general.
Cries in haven't posted since March.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
It's cool. Haven't done it myself, wouldn't be opposed to it though.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
It was very small and hasn't been relevant for years so I'm just gonna go with the first fandom I actually published anything for, which again, was Dan and Phil.
19. What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
I breifly considered heartstopper (shortest hyperfixation of my life) but I'm kind of already over the obsessive stage. The fandom is fucking awful anyway.
I also considered arcane but I would have to go full on AU (which isn't a strength of mine) because I don't know nearly enough about that universe to write anything canon compliant. I also just didn't really get to the point of actually wanting to write something for it.
20. What's your favourite fic you've written?
Out of my shamless fics: lover, please stay
Out of my other fics: unequivocally yours
~~~
Tag 2: Thank you @grumpymickmilk and @vintagelacerosette for tagging me to do this picrew! I did this picrew as well even though I don't think anyone tagged me, I just really liked it.
saw this fic writter tag on @oh-hush-its-perfect page and decided to join too :) I'm not tagging anyone directly but feel free to participate!
My Ao3 if anyone is interested: https://archiveofourown.org/users/ChornayaDrakoshig
1. How many fics do you have published on Ao3?
70 currently posted; I'm moving to Ao3 from another website and there is one collection of oneshot translations that I haven't reposted yet + a few essays/character analysis works that are kinda in question, as well as some old things and original works (I'm still not 100% if I want to repost them or not, maybe I'll do some editing first)
2. What's your total word count on Ao3?
235,711 at the time of posting (9 feb 2024) - not a total word count ever published, but the other website I've used doesn't have stats like that (it's in pages and this stat is disabled since I've hidden everything into drafts there)
3. For which fandoms do you write?
mostly Code Lyoko; second largest is Harry Potter, but I doubt I'll write any more HP after finishing the current WIP crossover. I'm not going to say "never" but well...
besides that, I have a few one shots written for Miraculous Ladybug, Humans, Parked, Testament of Youth (yes, I was hardcore Colin Morgan fan okay? I watched most of the films/shows with him pre 2016 and even one theatre play recording)
and I have a lot of fandoms on my "want to write" list including one large fic activelly in planning/plotting stage 👀
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
tbh I barelly have any kudos on my Ao3 account because I'm reposting my works under original publication date so they are deep, deep in the tags. Also at the moment I'm writting/translating in russian only, and Ao3 isn't even in top 3 of popular fanfic websites for this language. But I picked it for reasons
so, originally posted top 5 were (unsurprisingly all HP):
Сломанный маховик (time-travel fix-it, marauders era, Sirius/OC - and that's the largest multichapter I've ever did)
Шесть шагов (Jily one shot)
Чем пахнет свобода? (Sirius-related one shot, OC mentioned but unspecified, related to 1st fic but can be read separately)
Крёстная (7ish years post main canon [not epilogue], Teddy Lupin and his OC godmother - again related to 1st fic but can be read separately)
Осеннее обострение (Jily oneshot)
and on Ao3 currently:
Сломанный маховик (yep again)
Снежный Ангел (Code Lyoko, that's a translation actually! William/Aelita)
Остаточное погржение (Miraculous Ladybug, one shot, darker take on the results of akumatization, focuses on Alya)
Маршмеллоу и овсяное печенье (Miraculous Ladybug, one shot, fluff, Alya/Nino)
Lyokober (Code Lyoko, one shot collection made for challenge, each fic is a different pairing - has both popular ships and rarepairs)
5. Do you respond to comments?
I try to respond to everyone (especially now when I don't get a lot of them on the new platform)
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
ooooh I love angsty open endings :) I think one of my favourite is "Ритуал" (Code Lyoko, aftermath of main character(s) death, kinda apocalyptic AU)
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
that's the hardest question so far xD As I mentioned I like to breathe in the angst, so, eh, I think "Сломанный маховик"as it was time-travel fix-it?
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not really? I got a few "this is a dumb idea" type of comments, but it was few and far between idk if it counts as hate comments.
But I got banned from one discord server and part of the reason was mentioning one ship I've written for. So...
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Not my thing really - tbh I rarelly read smut too (maybe like, 25% or less of things I read?). If we don't include translations, I have one original work that's kinda Prelude/PWP without Porn thing. And one one shot with rape/non-con. Most of the time, if the fic even touches that, I'm more "fading into darkness, no detailed description of body parts of poses, feelings-focused, T rating at most" type of smut writer.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've ever written?
I love crossovers but I've ever written (or, rather, I'm currently writting) only one. It's Code Lyoko & Harry Potter, where Harry's world is a virtual reality that Lyoko Warriors explore.
However, I like to go into inspired-by-fandom AUs that aren't really full crossovers, as they don't include characters or detailed worldbuilding from another fandom, but they are heavily inspired - I think I have multiple fics like that.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I had one fic stolen (I think one of my HP ones? honestly I don't remember at this point). Also had a few shorter original works reposted with minor edits and no links/credit on social media.
And, unrelated to writting - there was an art of my fan character (not made by me, I think I got it as art trade or gift?) that was recolored & reposted on instagram once.
12. Have you ever had a work translated?
No, but I translate a lot myself - currently out of 70 posted works 16 are translations! I mostly translate from english but there are 2 french-russian translations too.
13. Have you co-written a fic before?
Nope, but I helped to beta-read/edit a handfull of works before. Also worked on ideas/worldbuilding for original work together but I haven't wrote for it. Also co-translated a fic once!
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Odd/Aelita (Code Lyoko)
Sirius/Hermione (Harry Potter, a specific subset of time-travel fix-it fanfic but I occasionally read other stuff)
Raine/Eda (The owl house)
Crowley/Aziraphale (Good Omens)
Eddie/Chrissy (Stranger Things)
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but probably never will?
I had one WIP (not reposted currently and probably never will) that is canon retelling in format of poetry, kinda witty and satirical. I'm bad at poetry. And at satire. The original show is over 100 episodes long. I wrote 3 poems on this wave of inspiration and abandoned it. But I still think the idea is funny and it would be cool to finish it but I have all those other WIPs I'm a) more interested in now b) more likelly to finish
16. What are your writing strengths?
God I like descriptions. Maybe even too much. Also with book-based fandoms, I've often got comments that my writting gives the same vibe as the book writting, so I guess I tend to imitate the tone & writting style relativelly well?
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I'm so bad in plotting long-form content it's not even funny. I tend to get one-liner ideas, about a setting, AU type, or a scene, but I struggle to come up with conflict, character development, events. I literally completed only 2 multichapter fics.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in a fic in another language?
I'm not a big fan of including whole dialogs in one language into a fic written in another. My go-to is 3 or less phrases per chapter, with translation in the notes. If I need to include larger dialogue, and the scene include character(s) that don't know the language, I write it in translation, maybe highlight it in italic or bold font, and sprinkle in mentions of what language are they speaking and that other character(s) don't understand what's going on.
Maybe I'm traumatised by reading "War and Peace" back in school but 1st tome has pages after pages that are almost all in french. The footnotes with translation take half of the page. It's not fun to read when you don't know the other language!
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Merlin (this fic is an abandoned wip and currently isn't on my Ao3 but I plan to repost it for sentimantal reasons :) - written in 2011)
20. Favorite fic you've written?
I can't pick one they all are my babies 😭 but some of the favourites:
Гордое фарфоровое божество (Humans, poem, Astrid/Niska)
Вырви мне сердце (Parked, poem - and it has stunning podfic that makes me emotional every time I listen to it)
Крёстная (HP, Teddy Lupin and his OC godmother)
Снаружи (current WIP! Code Lyoko & Harry Potter crossover)
20 Questions for Fic Writers Meme
I am enjoying reading these. I've not been tagged, and I'm not tagging anyone. Because I'm pants at self promotion and I think this will help.
How many works do you have on AO3?
Currently 20, though AO3 says 21. That's due to User Error (mine, and not ruling out others). The first time I tried adding a fic to a Fest Collection, it wound up being posted to both the collection and my home, so it's up there twice.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
240,140, which isn't what AO3 says. See above, I subtract out the duplicate word count from one of the two iterations of Dreaming a Life.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Harry Potter, and that said I've got one crossover written and posted (Nexus), and another WiP (in the editing phase) which hopefully I'll start posting soon (Mystic Dream). Also that said, I really enjoy bringing Guest Charcters into my fics if it works, meaning the Guests are more or less in the role they play in their origin stories (with a bit of leeway), I do my best to keep them in character, they're just playing a similar role in a Potter fic. Examples, Arthur Fish and Barney Miller from the Barney Miller telly program both show up as Aurors; at the small hotel that Ginny and Harry stay in Washington DC over time, Basil Fawlty and Marion Ravenwood appear.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Eloped, Sort Of Meanwhile, Back At the Burrow Dreaming a Life Molly's Nightmares Portrait
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes. Sometimes the response is brief and sometimes longer. Why I respond is that someone enjoyed the story enough to make a comment, at the very least I should be polite and thank them.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I haven't written it yet; tbf this is probably because I prefer to write fairly happy endings. That said, Honeymooners ends on something of a cliffhanger…
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably Dreaming a Life.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Without going through all the comments again, I think I received one comment that said I'd written the two characters in the story Out Of Character. It wasn't particularly hateful, at least not to me. And per what I answered above, I thanked them for reading and commenting.
9. Do you write smut. If so, what kind?
Yes. When I believe it fits the story. What kind? I dunno how to answer that, your mileage may vary from mine, cobber.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I've written one, Nexus. Well, actually, I've written two, but the second is still being edited. So for now, Nexus is the craziest.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not to my knowledge.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, and sort of? So far it hasn't been published anywhere, one of the Discord writer's groups I'm in worked on a co-written anniversary fic.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
In the fandom I write, Ginny Weasley/Harry Potter. I've got other ships in other fandoms, of course. Leia Organa/Han Solo is one. Honor Harrington/Paul Tankersley (though that ends tragically) is another.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
The future is unwritten; I don't know I will never finish something.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialog, and descriptive "stage" setting. At least, based on feedback from my beta readers.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Confidence in myself, that the words I've strung together will appeal to others. I consider the craft of writing to be a work in progress, and keep studying to make mine better, stronger.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
When it's appropriate, do it. Translation programs help, and translation programs do not excuse you from finding help from someone who is a native speaker of whatever language. Try, but do not feel obligated, to put enough into a scene to allow readers to get the gist of it by context.
One of the places I do this, I try to avoid writing Fleur Delacour Weasley's French accent attrociously so there's only a few touches in her dialog that hint at that. And what I've done (with the help mentioned above) is when she is feeling strongly about something, she reverts to speaking French. Bill and their children all can speak French as well, though not perhaps the rest of the Weasleys…
19. First Fandom you wrote for?
One which probably no one thinks is a fandom. Hey, I was 12 years old. And no, none of that exists any more. Oh, the fandom? 12 O'clock High
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
While I'm tempted to say I haven't written it yet, I will say I can't narrow it to one. So: Dreaming a Life is way up there. Between the two iterations, it's also the most hit fic I've written. After that one Portrait, Proposals, and Vignettes.
Fanfic Writer's 20 Questions!
Tagged by @whiskeysrpcenter. Thank you for the tag!
1. How many works do you have on ao3? 64! That's not counting a couple I have written but not published yet.
2. What's your total ao3 word count? 325,076, again not counting some yet-to-be-published stuff!
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they Literally just Banana Fish lol
4. What are your top five fics by kudos? 1: You don't need to understand feelings to feel them. (my first multi-chapter fic!) 2: I love you. I trust you. I'm here for you, forever. (my first ever fic!) 3: I'm a little in love with you. (my first collab!) 4: You jump into the water, but off of the bridge. 5: Why doesn't it hurt when I'm with you?
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Always! I love getting comments and I hope that responding to them encourages people to leave more. I also know that commenting on some fics can be a very vulnerable experience, and I want to reward that however I can.
6. What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending? Probably one of my canon-compliant fics. I try to write happy (or at least hopeful) endings whenever I can, but when you're working within Banana Fish canon it can be hard. The one that comes to mind is I'll stay with you. I won't let go. That one ends with Ash lying to Eiji about staying with him, since he's about to give himself up to Dino in canon.
7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written? Haven't written a crossover yet! No plans to currently.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic? I've gotten an occasional comment that was a little mean, but for the most part everyone has always been lovely!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I don't generally write or read smut. I can see the appeal, but as a sex repulsed ace it's just not my thing.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know of? But I've never really been on the lookout for it. I only post fanfiction on ao3, though, so if you see any of my fics anywhere else then it was stolen.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated? Not yet, but I recently have had offers to translate one of my works (There is a future. Whether you believe in it or not.) into Russian, and another (I'm sorry, but I love you.) into Spanish! I accepted both offers, so those might pop up soon!
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes! I'm a little in love with you. was written with Honeyvalentine (@hearteiji) and i love you all the more for it was written with newagedrunaway (@eurydizzy)
13. What’s your all-time favourite ship? I feel like this is kind of blasphemy in fandom, but I honestly care more about the individual characters than I do their relationships to each other. Of course I do ship AshEiji as my number one, but writing/reading an AshEiji fic isn't any more special to me than doing so for a ShorAsh fic or a Max & Ash fic, you know?
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? As of yet, I think I still plan to finish all the fanfic WIPs I've started!
15. What are your writing strengths? Hmm probably dialogue!
16. What are your writing weaknesses? Description for sure.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in another language? As a monolingual English speaker, I usually will just note in the narration if a character is speaking another language. But I've read books where the characters will use other languages in dialogue, and I think it can be done super well!
18. What was the first fandom you ever wrote for? Banana Fish, actually.
19. What's your favorite fic you've written? Probably You jump into the water, but off of the bridge. It's not necessarily my best work (I think my strengths show better in my oneshots than in my multi-chapters), but it's the one I put the most work into.
20. Who do you tag? If you're reading this and you're a fanfic writer, you're tagged! Play if you wish 💖
