"Funny enough I—like, if street hockey, ministicks, I always wanted to be a goalie too! Like, for some reason I always wanted to go in net. You know, probably because of [my Dad] and then, um, you know, once you get dinged a couple times and the shots get too hard you realise—then it's not so much fun after all so... Yeah, it was great he'd always—"
"You probably wanted to be goalie 'cuz you're fucking crazy, man! Those guys are bananas! I actually went as a goalie in morning skate one time when I was suspended in the coast, and it was the scariest thing ever, bro. It's nothing like blocking a shot because you're literally just standing there, and these guys are shooting right at you. It's unbelievable!"
"Yeah! You gotta get in the way of the stuff to save it! That's crazy! I know, and like obviously gear is like great and they don't really feel—but there is, like, that psychological thing going on where, like, you know, you wanna move out of the way 'cuz it's gonna hurt! I get—I mean, it must not hurt that much, like, 'cuz Bob's crazy, man! Bob loves taking—Well, I wouldn't say loves taking it off the head, but he doesn't hate it, like he—"
"Feels good?"
"You know, every once in a while—they hit him in the head and you go up and say sorry he's like, 'No, no! It's all good! I love it, I love it!!' and like, kind-of shoos you away so."

I don’t dislike this model but i do think there are aspects of it that detract from its quality, especially considering it’s the model Inquisitorial Agents is riding on. I think the armor in general has a lot of blank plating that feels like it deserved extra decoration or deeper shading. The legs of the armor, especially in this color scheme, look like they were altered from a stormcast eternal sculpt for some reason. The shoulder strap seems ridiculous and unnecessary, is it just to attach his cape?? I feel like the energy spent on this guy would have been better served making a single versatile Inquisitor kit, or better yet generic ones for each ordo that you could get in a 3 pack or something. I find this model, as well as Greyfax and Draxus to be incredibly detailed representations of One Person’s idea of their Ordo, which robs them of broad appeal.
As someone who is VERY fascinated with adaptation in film (who spent quuuuuuite some time back in college obsessing over it for assignments) and who adores the graphic novel, my biggest takeaway from Nimona is that it is an EXCELLENT adaptation. Especially considering how much that production went through! Like, all of the changes and things they expanded on made sense for the transition from book to movie. My second takeaway is that I love it <3 Please go watch it I beg of you 🙏
I don’t give a fuck about walking into the kids section of the bookstore. If I want to find my percy jackson books I’m going to do so with zero shame because these little gremlins don’t appreciate the place like I do

Sometimes it feels like the writers of Wayne family adventures and by extension some of the people who really enjoy it have read the cliff notes of Batman&Co comics but haven’t dived deep enough to get to the the real meat of the characters.
They know enough that to the average viewer it’s good but to me (a fucking freak) it feels a little surface level and fanony for lack of a better term. Wfa feels like the general gist of the character but you’ve sanded away all the flaws and shit they’ve done to build a nice little nuclear family, because that’s what people want, I guess.
For slice of life fun for Batman, it’s great, Batman comics tend to lean a little heavier so wfa is fine for change of pace. But whenever they try to drama or touch on insecurities or trauma, it feels very after school special, like I can’t see it in a mainstream book, it’s too polished, it wants to be dramatic but it isn’t, it’s too safe. So when they touch on things like Jason’s joker trauma I’m not impressed or invested because it’s boring, when it comes to wfa’s drama 2 parters it’s teethless, its too idealistic.
Tl;dr: Lil’ Gotham is better than Wayne Family Adventures in every way, suck it I’m right 😚😚😚
"You wouldn't be the first young man to find himself at the mercy of a flush of new infatuation. Inexperience often confuses bedding with love. The slave could have convinced you to lie to us for him, having taken advantage of your innocence."

Books of 2024: THE SCOURGE BETWEEN STARS by Ness Brown.
Devoured this in one intense sitting last night! It gets right into the "fucked up shit happens in space" (as I was promised it would!), and I liked that you could see the author's astrophysics background peeking through without derailing the tension.
(And, for real: Don't Open The FUCKING Door, holy shit.)
"[Alice Perrers] requested that she be buried in the parish church of Upminster, St Laurence, before the altar of the Virgin Mary. Alice seems to have had an affinity with Mary through her life; a seal of hers from c. 1374 shows an image of the Virgin Mary and child, her tabernacle seized in 1377 had an image of the Virgin Mary on it, and now she wished to be buried before Mary’s altar."
