Jilytober – Bittersweet Challenge Prompt: I really wanted it to be you
Thanks @jilytoberfest
“How reasonable is it to want to kill someone I've met once?” James Potter asked his best friend, huffing as he struggled with his bowtie. That was the first thing that could have made Sirius stop admiring his hair in the mirror. He spun around and stared at James in confusion.
“What on earth are you talking about? I’ve heard of wedding day jitters, but never the urge to commit murder. Considering my family, the fact that there has never been a murder at a wedding is quite remarkable. But I repeat, what the hell?”
“Lily had a letter from her sister,” James explained, turning away from Sirius to examine his own hair in the mirror with an air of hopeless desperation. “Why do I bother? There’s no fixing this.”
“It’s just as well that your dear old Dad didn’t live long enough to see this,” Sirius mused. “Ironic that his haircare potions can’t do a thing for his own son.”
“Rude,” James muttered half-heartedly, but Sirius could tell he was still preoccupied with Lily’s pain. “Can we get back to the point? I always knew Petunia doesn’t like me, but anyone who could treat Lily like this makes me so angry I can’t think straight. She’s just…ugh!”
“Muggles,” said Sirius, as if that explained everything. “They just don’t make sense sometimes. Lily’s Mum and Dad seemed happy enough that you guys were dating. Why does it matter what her sister thinks of you?”
“I don’t care what she thinks of me,” James insisted. “But Lily does for whatever reason and that is what matters. The fact that she refused to be here today is upsetting Lily and that’s not okay. I don’t know if I’m making any sense to you, I just want Lily to be happy.”
“A wedding is one day of her life, Prongs,” Sirius pointed out with unusual insight. “You make her happy every day, that’s what really matters.”
“Not so long ago, she would have been happy if I never spoke to her again, actually,” James laughed. “Whether that’s a good thing or not, my life just doesn’t make sense without her.”
“Save it for the vows, mate,” Sirius grimaced in mild disgust. “Are you good here? Speaking of beautiful things, I really want to steal Marlene away from the bride for a minute. You may not be allowed to see her yet; the best man has no such limitations.” Without waiting for a response, Sirius spun around and left the groom to his musings, there was only so much talk of sappiness a guy could take in one day. He followed the sound of girlish squealing across the hall to where Lily’s bridesmaids were getting dressed.
“Is everyone decent in there?” he called, holding one hand over his eyes for good measure. There was no explicit answer, but Sirius decided to take his chances anyway. In the bridal chambers however, the frenzy was for a different reason than Sirius was expecting. “What the hell is going on in here?” He stared questioningly at Lily’s matron of honour Alice, notoriously calm by nature, the stress levels radiating off her freaked him out. “Where’s Lily?”
“I last saw her holding a letter an hour ago and nobody’s seen her since,” Alice admitted miserably. “Do you have any idea what could make her do a runner like this? She didn’t try to sneak off to see James, did she? She has to know that’s terribly bad luck!”
“No,” Sirius reassured her. “James told me the letter was from Petunia. I wouldn’t put it past that crazy sister of Lily’s to upset her somehow or other.”
“You’ve got a point there,” Alice admitted. “What the hell are we going to do? Where could she possibly disappear at a time like this?”
“I have a hunch,” Sirius murmured mysteriously. “Take it from someone with plenty of awful relatives, sometimes it all just becomes a bit much. I’m sure she just needed a breather from all this chaos. It doesn’t have to mean anything bad.” Alice was still staring at him cynically so Sirius decided not to waste time with words. “Leave it to me,” he said. “There will be no runaway brides here today.”
With that he spun around and walked away from the panicky bridal party, a man on a mission. It was a beautiful day in Godric’s Hollow and nothing in the atmosphere suggested bad omens except for the suddenly missing bride. Sirius looked all around, steely grey eyes sweeping one empty room after another. “Where the hell are you, Evans?” he muttered to himself, feeling the tension despite his cool words to Alice.
As a last resort, he ventured outside, moving towards a large tree across the lawn of the Potter residence. Finally, he spotted Lily’s flaming red hair in the distance, she was sitting on the ground at the base of the sturdy tree trunk, her wedding dress billowing around her like an exotic cloud.
“Lily?” The sound of Sirius’ voice made Lily’s head snap up, an ironic deer in headlights panic in her red-rimmed eyes. “What are you doing out here? Everyone’s freaking out inside.” His gaze landed on the crumpled letter clutched in her fist. “What’s that?”
“Petunia,” Lily whimpered, after staring at him blankly for a moment. “She sent her wedding invitation back ripped to pieces.”
“You have got to be kidding me.” Pure disgust clouded Sirius’ face for a moment but he squashed down his anger at the misery on Lily’s face. “I’m sorry Lil, as I told James earlier, I know a thing or two about awful relatives.”
“Despite all this, I wish I could tell her: I really wanted it to be you,” Lily sighed, subtly wiping the tears from her eyes. “What little girl doesn’t imagine her big sister as her maid of honour? What did I do to offend her so much besides not being entirely normal?”
“Normal is completely overrated,” said Sirius firmly, looping an arm around Lily and pulling her into a hug. “For what it’s worth, even if it feels like you don’t have a sister who cares right now, I can tell you one thing I know for sure. You have brothers who would never ever talk to you the way she does.”
“Thank you,” sighed Lily, leaning into the embrace for a moment. “You’re pretty great, you know that? I’m sorry about a lot of the harsh things I said at fifteen.”
“We deserved it,” shrugged Sirius, laughing off the apology. Suddenly there was a commotion behind them and the duo spun around curiously. “Is that really the best idea?” Sirius mused, staring at Remus leading James across the lawn.
“I’ve heard of guide dogs, wolf companions are a first,” Lily laughed in spite of herself. “At least it looks like he’s trying somewhat to respect tradition.” James was stumbling towards them across the lawn, as good as blind without his glasses on. Lily was stunned by the sheer strength of the love she felt in that moment and had to lean back against the tree as her knees trembled. “Haven’t you heard it’s bad luck to see the bride before the wedding, Potter?”
“Technically, I can’t actually see you,” James pointed out, letting go of Remus’ arm and reaching towards the sound of Lily’s laugh. “I was worried about you when Sirius told me about Petunia’s letter.” He shrugged sheepishly; “Sorry if that’s overkill, I just needed to make sure you were okay.”
“I am now,” Lily promised, glad he couldn’t see her clearly as she wiped her eyes on her puffy sleeve. “Your friends are pretty great, Mr. Potter.”
“I’m well aware of that,” James grinned at her, clearly relieved that she was okay. “And the soon to be Mrs. Potter is even better, let’s be real.”
“No arguments here,” Sirius and Remus agreed in unison. “Just make out already, screw the rules.”
“Well that’s what you boys do best, isn’t it?” Lily couldn’t stop herself from pointing out. She slipped her arms around James’ neck and leaned up on tiptoes to kiss him gently. “I can’t wait to be yours,” she said softly.
“You already are, babe,” said James firmly. “Or at least my heart is yours. Nobody else has the power to make me this cheesy, you better enjoy it. I can see you with or without working eyes, just for the record.”
“I love you, you dork,” Lily laughed and melted into the embrace that had become her safe place against her will years ago. Now she wouldn’t change the promise of her future as Mrs. Potter for anything.

The Saga of Billy Boy - Prequel 1 - The Introduction of Billy Boy
Before you can see the path that lies before Will, you must learn what made Billy Boy who he is today. I want to be explicit that while periods of his life that he would be a minor are referenced, there is no sexual content, explicit or implied. There is reference to bullying but not this is not intended to be anything of a sexual nature. There is also some not-quite-step sibling (mom's new boyfriend's son) incest fantasy. If any of these themes give you hesitation, feel free to skip the prequel parts. It is purely additional content about Will, but will not have a significant presense in the future parts. If you need it, here is a masterpost with links to all parts of TSOBB.
- - - - -
My mom started calling me Billy Boy when I was a baby. I was a small kid, so when the other kids heard my mom yell “have a good day at school, Billy Boy!” they immediately used it to tease me. The bullying started small, but slowly got worse, making high school miserable.
Once she learned about the bullying, my mom stopped calling me Billy Boy and started calling me Will like everyone else. But my older brother, Mikey, didn’t. He was three years older than me. From the start, Mikey didn’t want a younger brother, so he always resented me. He thought the bullying was funny, so he loved calling me Billy Boy when my parents weren’t around. He didn’t dare try doing anything else since my parents would definitely notice.
My sophomore year of high school, my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer. He was a smoker and was in critical condition. He died three months after his diagnosis. My whole family took it hard. Mikey and I grew even closer to our mom now that it was just the three of us. Mikey took the second semester of his freshman year of college off to be home with us. He treated me even worse when my mom wasn’t around. He used Billy Boy constantly and told me it was my fault our dad never stopped smoking. I knew he was just mourning his own way, but the words still hurt.
Mikey ended up going back to college the following fall and I finished high school. I went to college in a small town far away, the place I would continue to call home after graduating. Early on after moving, I discovered I was gay. I only came out to my mom and she agreed to keep it a secret.
Right before Thanksgiving of my freshman year, my mom told me I was going to meet the man she had been seeing. I was shocked to have just learned about him since she and I still talked all the time. She explained she didn’t want to mention him unless it felt serious and it was now. She told me she loved him and that she could see herself marrying him. It seemed very sudden, but she explained that she’d known him for a while before, but wasn’t ready to start dating after my dad until recently.
I went home for Thanksgiving and met whom my mom predicted was my step father to be. Paul was a tall man with short blond hair. He had large shoulders and a large gut. The rest of his body was, well, large.
Paul reached out to shake my hand, and I grabbed it feeling my hand get crushed. “Hiya, buddy! I’m Paul, your mom’s new friend. I’m happy to finally meet the boy your mom talks about so much!” He spoke in a patronizing tone. I knew I looked younger than I was, but he knew I was visiting from college.
“Hi, Paul. I’m Will. Nice to meet you.” I say without giving anything away. My mom enters the kitchen and gives me a hug.
“It’s about time you got here. You need to get started on dinner if it’ll be ready soon.” Paul barked at my mom. I resented the way he spoke to her.
Mom looked at her watch. “Oh you’re right. I better get to it.” She turned to get started cooking.
“Will, why don’t you join me and the boys in the living room?” Paul proposed, turning away to walk into the hallway. I wasn’t sure who he meant by boys, but I didn’t dwell on that after I got sight of Paul’s ass. At this point, I only knew I liked topping and eating ass. And Paul’s ass was voluptuous. It was round, and big, and wide. I was suddenly filled with lust for this asshole, pun intended. I followed him, half mesmerized by his ass half out of having nowhere else to go.
As I entered the hallway behind him, I noticed a faint awful smell. Something between milk and shit. I tried to act naturally as I followed Paul’s ass intently. But the smell only got worse. As we neared the living room door, I started coughing. Paul looked over his shoulder and laughed. “Can’t handle a little crop dusting? I was just trying to prepare you for the living room funk.”
I shuttered as I realized I had been fantasizing about Paul’s farting ass. I thought farts were disgusting. I hated to think something so awful came out of such a sexy thing. I feared for what the living room would hold and I was right to fear.
As we entered, I was immediately hit with a similar smell but much stronger. I saw Mikey sitting on the edge of the couch. Next to him was another man about Mikey’s age. But he’s much heavier than Mikey. I started to realize he carried a heavy resemblance to Paul and pieced together this may be Paul’s son. In addition to them, I see a platter of tortilla chips and dips on the coffee table. Except the chips are scarce and the large bowls for cheese dip and guacamole are scraped empty.
Paul sat down on the other edge of the couch, leaving a tiny space between him and his maybe-son. “Will, have a seat with us!” Paul exclaimed, patting the tiny space next to him. “You’re pretty small. Junior and I can put our arms up and we can all squeeze.” Paul and Junior, which I assume is short for Paul Junior, both put their arms on the back of the couch, opening up a little more space and revealing large pit stains under both.
I sighed and reluctantly sat down, knowing there was no getting out of this. I squished in between the two men and immediately had body odor mixed in with the flatulent smell of the air. Both Paul and Junior were a bit taller than me so my face was barely above their pits.
Paul gestured to Junior. “Will, this is my son, Paul Junior, but we just call him Junior.”
“Hi Junior, I’m Will.” I said, extending my hand to his free one.
A mischievous grin comes across Junior’s face as he takes my hand. “Oh, I know. Mikey has told me all about you, Billy Boy.” Junior lifts his leg next to me and leans toward Mikey. He grunts and a fart releases right onto my leg as I feel it waft up to my nose. I retch at the smell, as Junior sits back into place, trapping me again between him and his dad.
“It sounds like there’s a lot I need to learn about ol’ Billy Boy here.” Paul chuckled, emphasizing the nickname. I suddenly hoped my mom’s taste in men would change drastically.
The conversation was tame after that. I learned Junior is Mikey’s age. They appear to get along great. They’re also both gross. I don’t remember Mikey being so gross before, but he obviously enjoyed all of the farting. Or at least enjoyed that I hated it. And there was a lot more farting. It never seemed to stop. I wanted to throw up when mom finally came in and told us dinner was ready. She didn’t seem fazed by the smell. She must be used to it by now.
The men fart through dinner while mom and I roll our eyes. I decided I don’t want to stay the night and make the drive back to college that night. I get back to my dorm late and crash.
- - - - -
That night, I dreamed Junior came into my dorm room and woke me up with a fart to the crotch. “I knew that’d get you stirring.” I am laying on my back with Junior squat sitting on my crotch. He’s wearing a onesie with the fly to his ass open. Junior has pulled down the blanket, so the only thing between his ass and my cock is my underwear. Junior is slowly rubbing his ass back and forth on my cock, getting it aroused.
“After your brother told me you hated farts, I knew the real reason why. You hate them because your dick loves them.” My face scrunches at his bizarre proposal. “You don’t believe me? Watch this.” Junior plants his huge ass on my crotch and unleashes a monster fart. He rises off my crotch to show that my cock is suddenly extremely aroused, growing so large it rips off my briefs. I stare in amazement as I feel extreme pleasure from the sensation.
“Now let’s put that monster cock of yours to good use.” Junior commands, grabbing it and putting the tip into his hole. Junior slowly sits onto my lap, enveloping it in his ass. The sensation is incredible. Junior slides it in and out sensually, and it feels incredible. “Hmm, seems like someone needs a boost.” Junior teases before tensing up and releasing another monster fart right onto my cock. The vibration is better than I ever imagined. I moan with pleasure and dig my head into the pillow while grabbing Junior’s ass.
“Do you want more?” Junior teases, gliding up and down my cock once more. I moan and nod my head vigorously. Junior pinches my nipples, pulling me in an upright position. He pulls me into him, engulfing most of my torso with his large gut, my head on top between his man boobs. Junior grabs my hair and turns my head up to look at him. “Then you’d better squeeze and fuck them out of me.” He says, followed by a loogie to my face.
I waste no time wrapping my arms around him and squeezing. Immediately, I feel his stomach gurgle and a fart unleashes onto my cock. It feels incredible and I start humping him enthusiastically, squeezing him as tight as I can. Fart after fart comes out onto my cock. It feels so amazing that I can no longer hold back my climax. I moan in ecstasy as I finish and rest my head on Junior’s gut. Junior grabs my hair again, making me see his angry expression. “Did you just cum without my permission?” He spit at me.
“Boys like you have to follow every command from men like us.” I hear from next to the bed. I look over to see a naked Paul. “And if you can’t obey, Billy Boy, you’ll be punished.” Paul trades a look with Junior as they both start laughing.
Junior shoves me back onto my back and Paul grabs my arms, holding them to my sides. As Junior turns around to back his leaking ass into my face, Paul leans forward and forces my jaw open. Junior plants his hole right over my wide open mouth and sits down. Paul turns around and plants his ass on top of Junior’s, putting his hole right over my nose. In sync, Junior starts farting my cum down my throat, while Paul blasts smelly fumes up my nose. I feel them laughing at me as I take in fart after fart.
I woke up in the middle of the night from the dream in a sweat. It was so bizarre I wasn’t sure what to make of it. That was until I found my hard on in my briefs covered in cum and realized I didn’t only finish in my dream.

TRICKS OF LIFE — STEVE HARRINGTON
Tumblr media
𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐯. — 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞? Overview: Y/N tells Mike information to help their lost friend, she also heads to the search party for Will with Victor. As they explore, the past unravels and there is an odd occurrence that happens. Navigation & Mixtape
Tag: @samiyamuntaha @thepowerstoner @ughgclden @mqyfield @cooperdaysgf
“So right by Mirkwood right?” Mike Wheeler’s voice peeped after listening to Y/N’s remark of details about what she heard at the Hawkins Police Department a few hours ago. It was around 7 pm, right around to where the girl was getting ready prone to the search party being held with a few of the residents of the town.
Y/N hummed a positive response to clearing out his doubts just in case he was confused by any means, this wasn’t going to help Mike, it was going to help Will get a faster chance to be retrieved to his home again.
Although Hopper disapproved the request of letting young people in the search, Y/N and Victor were eventually allowed to come along, “Yeah, but remember you have to be somewhat far from the real search group okay? We don’t want you to get caught.”
”Mike! What are you doing?” Nancy’s faint voice was caught on the other line of the phone, leading Mike to leave the phone out, Y/N overhearing them argue over the dumbest things.
Prior to the noises of Mike pushing Nancy out of the basement she guessed, the boy came back on the line, sighing loudly, “Sorry about that, Nancy gets so annoying, I still don’t know why you still hang out with her.”
”She could be a priss sometimes,” She responds, breathily giggling, clenching the ceramic telephone tighter, “But she’s still my friend if you could say.”
Continuing with their conversation based on the plan, it was perfectly assembled, safe with a high possibility of finding Will, even if it had been a day. Will couldn’t have gone far anyways. Y/N was about to speak, but was suddenly caught off guard as soon as she heard her dad in the hallway, getting prepared for the search.
”Oh shit! I have to go now,” Y/N hushed in a subtle tone, trying her best to keep away Hopper from listening to their discussion, “Remember to be home by 9 at least with flashlights. Stay safe Mike.”
The line went awfully silent, placing back the phone to its regular position on the handset, while it being attached to the wall. Rapidly, spinning to look at her father, trying to act as normal as possible, his brows furrowed at her.
”What were you doing?”
Shrugging it off calmly, Y/N breathily giggles while she put her hands on her hips saying, “I was just checking in with Victor, that’s all.”
Hopper’s eyes widened at her point, clicking his tongue as he started grabbing on his sweater for the frosty night ahead, “Funny, but I just called his mom to let him know that he was coming.”
”Right..” Y/N casually crossed her arms, cursing under her breath before she showed any subtle reaction to what she was up to. Play it cool.
In the silence of her looking around the messy home by the front door, Hopper sharply whistles while slinging the car keys in the air to catch them, making Y/N follow right behind me, pretending as if the few minutes didn’t occur. Feeling the breeze of the autumn air, both the relatives made their way to the vehicle, on their way to the small yet important search for this boy, Will Byers.
As the road got narrower and narrower, the car drove deeper into the dark woods, where Y/N could see the slender trees and branches surrounding them. The starry sky lit up the place with a soft tone of dim blues and grays painted across it on the chilly night. Watching out the window, Y/N squinted her eyes to see a figure from afar waving towards the vehicle, a familiar figure to be Victor. Hopper drove nearer, the headlights being able to guide him to the stop where a small crowd of people were surrounding along with the patrols.
Hopper cleared his throat, while he pushed the breaks down and turned to his daughter, “Hey kid, remember don’t be-“
Without hesitation, Y/N swung the car door open to step out of it, hustled her way to her so called “acquaintance”, Victor. It was more like a friend but she didn’t want to be that close with the boy. Victor wearily smiling at her.
“You seem tired,” Y/N creeps up next to him, watching the small groups of people around the mounds of dead leaves and twigs gathered for the search.
Victor’s voice brings the girl’s attention back to him, he clears his throat, “I mean dealing with Flo is already a lot for me to handle, so I suppose I am.” The two silently chuckled, the frost getting to their noses, “I heard there’s gonna be a chance of rain.”
”Really?”
“Yes really! Haven’t you seen the forecast? I’m even wearing a jacket!” Victor squinted his eyes, his eyewear raising up on the bridge of his nose and the girl shrugged aimlessly.
Y/N scoffed, shoving him slightly, “I think there’s way more important things we need to focus on instead of the weather.”
From afar, Hopper and the policemen indicated all the volunteers to gather around on the sidewalk, near the entrance of the forest. The flashing blue and red lights were turned off from the cars, everyone else preparing for the upcoming search.
”Okay guys!” The chief shouted to direct everyone, “We need to stay in the 5 mile radius from where Will was last scene! Everyone please be careful and remember to blow the whistle if you find anything at all!”
Heads were nodded, agreeing to the directions, Officers Powell and Callahan guided two separate groups from different directions, Y/N having to come along with the third group including her dad. Although the girl was 16, her father wanted to take the best care for her, after Sarah. He wanted to keep her as close as possible, but he knew she was getting older. It was just for today, he can protect her for today, now being aware of a kid disappearing in their town. Maybe one of them was next.
“I guess that’s your call genius,” Y/N told Victor as she pointed towards Powell’s group who were walking to the right side of the woods, the people disappearing one by one into the darkness.
Not budging at all, Victor stood his ground saying, “I think I’ll stick with you for now, there’s just soccer moms hoarding the group for Powell, he has a fan club.”
“You’re not wrong Vic,” She sniggered quietly but failed miserably, letting out a subtle loud laugh, both of the teenagers walking behind their group, down a steep hill leading to the inner nature.
Rushing down first to the bottom, the tall brunette reached his hand out for Y/N who was still at the top, to help her come down to his level, “M’lady?”
”Why thank you, what a gentleman!” Y/N sarcastically gasps, gripping onto his hand to steady herself below, after they jogged closer to the group, flicking their flashlights on to carry on.
Everyone glanced above the branches, the moon shining as the crickets chirped. The crisp wind running across their faces, making the trees shuffle loudly. As flashlights led them with its brightness, they all searched and searched, for any trace of the boy around the area.
Half an hour later, the air became cooler than usual, almost bringing a frostbite to their bare hands. The sound of branches and dead leaves crunching over the few people above them. In the silence, Y/N stayed near Victor and her father, hearing shouts for Will. The realization hit the girl, they were looking for lost Will, Will hasn’t appeared, he was probably in some sort of danger. She fastened her grip on the flashlight, looking around more closely, along with the rest.
”He’s a good student,” Someone decides to break the silence of the leaves and twigs crunching under their feet, Victor and Y/N turned their attention to him as they strolled in the woods.
Hopper cocks an eyebrow up and looks towards the teacher’s direction after the statement, “What?”
”Will. He’s a good student. Great one actually,” He elaborates, smiling sheepishly to lend his hand in front of the chief to introduce himself, “I don’t think we’ve met, Scott Clarke. Teacher, Hawkins Middle. Earth and biology.”
“Don’t you remember he was my teacher back in the day?”
Victor nods agreeing with Y/N’s statement from behind, Hopper reluctantly trying to remember his daughter’s middle school teacher, still not recalling since in those past years where fighting for Y/N’s custody between the parents, “I always had a distaste for science.”
”Well maybe you had a bad teacher,” Mr. Clarke remarks, checking if his flashlight was still operating, trudging closer to the group of three ahead of him.
”Yeah, Ms. Ratliff was a piece of work,” Hopper scoffs jokingly, Y/N doing the same as well, remembering his shitty science teacher from his past years while he studied at Hawkins High.
”Ratliff?” The teacher ponders, realizing that the same teacher still resides in Hawkins after all these years, “You bet. She’s still kicking around believe it or not.”
Victor elaborates in between them, sliding his hands onto his pockets, “I had her when I was in eighth grade a few years back.”
”Oh I believe it Victor. Mummies never die, so they tell me,” Hopper smiles, trying to get his daughter to notice but she dozed off beyond the sight of the woods, ”Sarah, my youngest, galaxies, the universe whatnot.. She always understood all that stuff. I always figured there was enough going down here, I never needed to look elsewhere.”
Y/N flickered her eyes towards her father’s direction after hearing the special name, it wasn’t so special to one, but to her, it was. Sarah, Sarah Hopper her little sister, but soon enough the teacher interrupted, “Maybe I’ll get her in my class I-“
“No, she uh.. she lives with her mom in the city,” He cuts the man off from his statement, Victor widening his eyes on Y/N’s side, knowing fully that wasn’t true.
The girl beside the tall boy looked back at his dark eyes, signaling him to be quiet, Y/N was aware of the fact that everyone in Hawkins knew Sarah’s death. Just because of her own blabbermouth, Steve told everyone including the parents her little secret the young female confessed to.
As much as her dad still wants to deny the fact the little one was gone and resting in peace, staying of his delusion Y/N wished she could have. It was a promise. A promise that everything was okay and there wasn’t nothing to worry about, almost some sort of fairy tale where everything had its happy endings with a happy family which wasn’t it.
“Thanks for coming out, Teach. We really appreciate it.” Hopper clears the air, trudging past them farther into the dark eerie woods, Y/N and Victor repeating his steps behind him.
Once they were  out of the picture and range from hearing, a middle aged woman spoke up next to the teacher, in a hushed tone saying, “She died a few years back.”
”Sorry?” Mr. Clarke shifted his head in bewilderment towards the lady for any clarification from the inadequate statement given.
”His kid.”
The teacher’s eyes widened, observing the two family members mumbling inaudible words behind the brisk trees of the cool night. He didn’t know the Hoppers hid their family, they never talked much about family when it came to projects when Y/N was younger. It seemed like something ever so private not like where many kids shared experiences with their loved ones, they always kept everything about their family closed up. Almost a mystery.
Y/N could hear the soft mumbles of the quiet conversation being exchanged by the lady and her former teacher, she felt sick knowing that her father stays in the delusion of her sister being alive, lying. Lying wasn’t so hard for her, Y/N was almost a professional at it when it came to helping the party in situations. But lying to her dad was different, it was the both of them against the horrid place called the world.
“Is Sarah going to be back?” A small girl walked over to the grown adults who stood at the front door, puffy eyes showing on their faces, as they held a plastic wristband and stuffed tiger after a long day from not seeing her sister. It was already near midnight.
Without any move, the woman, who to be seen was the girl’s mother, bursted into tears, her husband catching her into his arms. The youngling worriedly watched her parents shed tears, a middle aged woman got up from the couch to comfort both of them. Whispers and mumbles being shared between the adults, bringing more tears.
”Mommy?” The girl steadily crept next to her mom’s leg, wrapping her short arms around her waist, pressing her cheek against the woman’s body, “Don’t cry, I’m here.”
Sobs were still heard from the mother, the two of the women held each other tightly while the tall man let go from their hug, kneeling next to the girl’s level, “Y/N, kid-“
”Dad, where’s Sarah?!” Y/N shakily shouted, her stomach feeling uneasy, with her sister not being found. What happened to Sarah? She knew Sarah was going to get better. Why was mom crying? So many questions filled her head, eyes welling up, her father hugging her tightly with all the hurt and love. Y/N noticed the wristband that her father was holding, she peered closely to see a sloppy handwriting shown as the name Sarah, written all over it with the date when she was sent to the hospital.
”Sarah is... gone.”
The little’s watery eyes widened, her bottom lip trembling, she threw her arms around her father, her head leaning onto his shoulder. Her little sister was gone, she was alone now, her heart crumbling into a million pieces. Sarah, Sarah wasn’t here anymore. But it seemed so surreal, it was only yesterday the two sisters laughed about one of the nurses dropping her cup of coffee while getting chemotherapy.
“Dad.. Can she come back?”
Sadly grinning, Hopper wiped the girl’s chubby face from her tears, shaking his head, “I’m sorry kid, she’s not coming back.”
”But she has to! Sarah has to come home with us,” Y/N choked in her tears, her eyes becoming swollen, grabbing the wristband from her father’s large hand, “Sarah can’t leave me alone here. She promised she would stay.”
”Y/N, I know this is difficult but your sister left us. She’s in a better place now.”
Making her cry even more, Y/N’s mother rapidly kneeled next to her husband and daughter, she sniffed, grabbing onto her daughter, “We promised Sarah we would love each other and always stay safe. Forever.”
”Promise?”
Both of the girl’s parents joined in for a tight hug, Y/N fastening her arms around the two others, “Promise. We promise you sweet pea.”
”Y/N! Y/N!” A familiar voice boasted in the ears of Y/N, she focused her attention back to the voice. There was no one beside her by the time she looked around, it was the sounds of the wind and her alone. Her flashlight flickered in her hands, she shook it vigorously to try and turn it back on, but there was nothing coming out of it, just a dimly lit tone guiding her way. Nothing else in her sight except for the trees and moonlight, she tried her best to not overthink this and make her way back to the group.
Every turn she made in the paths, it led her to nowhere, noises filled the aura. Slowly, she began to worry, she wasn’t coming back to the group. Y/N’s head filled itself with thoughts, there was no way she could be lost, last time she was with Victor, rambling about the weather. Where was she? Looking up, she felt small droplets of water dripped onto her face above, Y/N squinted her eyes to avoid the drizzle. The water fell down slowly until it started raining heavier in the air, she wiped her face to dry it off and continue to try to find her way back.
“Dad!” Y/N shouted, wrapping her arms over herself, her hair becoming soaked along the time. She kept shouting and shouting, worry filling her in. The girl was afraid. What if she went missing like Will? Oh no.
Without a precaution, a branch from behind was heard. Y/N whipped her head to the direction, seeing a small human with a white gown rapidly run off to opposite direction, the rain blurring her eyes. Was that Will? Curious, she picked up speed to follow the boy, it may be Will. A chance of relief rushing in as her adrenaline sped up, almost running faster. “Will! It’s me!”
The boy didn’t stop, sprinting faster with his bare feet. Y/N still yelled, slowing her pace down, then picking it back up, going through the trees. An idea came to her, tugging at her metal whistle to her lips, blowing on it. The sound coming off it, maybe attracting people to find her and the boy, it has to be Will. Using her arms to run faster, she suddenly trips over a thick log after not seeing below her because of the wind, sending her to the floor. She whimpers as she felt her ankle burn in a pain, whistling even more.
From the distance, few people to what she could tell came forward to her, rain soaking over her head. Thunder being heard far away, Victor came into the picture to kneel down next to Y/N.
”Hey are you okay?” He worriedly checks on her, receiving a nod. Victor looked around for any possible wounds since he found her on the ground, “We couldn’t find you!”
Y/N hardly paid attention to him and looked afar to see if the boy would turn up again. She held Victor’s jacket to pull him closer, “I think I saw Will! He was running through there I-“
”Chief Hopper coming through, excuse me,” A voice from the crowd of people called in, Hopper bringing himself forward to find his soaking daughter on the ground pointing toward another direction. “What’s wrong?”
Victor moves to tell Hopper while being next to shaking and wet Y/N, “She saw Will.”

Tony Leung: “[Wenwu] isn’t a villain at all!”
On September 6, 2021, Tony Leung sat down with Hong Kong actress Carol “Dodo” Cheng for an interview about life, sports, and of course, his latest Hollywood outing as a widower who grieved the death of his beloved wife and a father who “didn’t know how to love [his children]” in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
=
Interview is originally in Cantonese, and has been translated into English.
FULL TRANSCRIPT BELOW:
-
Today I'm really pleased to interview Tony Leung Chiu-Wai. The last time I really chatted with you in earnest was... Do you remember? In 2013.
I think that time I was with...
We were on a plane together.
At the mall? On a plane?
We arrived in Hong Kong, and went to some awards ceremony. We were waiting for our luggage, exchanged a few words. That was 2013, and we haven’t met since. Where did we meet up next? I’m sure you won’t remember. It was here in Hong Kong. I was surprised by you. I usually go to the supermarket, very early in the morning. Because there's no-one there.
Yeah.
I saw you there.
I think that was probably it. Not too crowded in the morning.
You too. Why so early in the morning?
To... buy food. I usually wake up at 6am. I’d exercise until about 10am-ish, and then I’d…
Go for a walk.
Shower, then shop for food. I usually eat quite simply— it’s either salad, or buckwheat noodles. Salad doesn't stay fresh very well. So I’d get up early in the morning, shop for what I like, and prepare it at home.
Have you been eating healthy all this time?
I’m not doing this particularly for my health. I get an upset stomach easily. I get food poisoning very easily. And it’s miserable having food poisoning! When you’re at work, others don’t know how bad you’re having it. But you can’t tell-- you can’t convey that.
Alright, at this point it’s time for a nostalgia trip. We used to be colleagues, and we’ve shot TV series together. At that time, did you feel that you could eat whenever and not have to sleep… When did you start prioritising your health?
When did it start? I think it would have been… at least 20 years ago. Because it’s miserable being sick while on set. You’ve got to keep working. Even when I had a fever, (producer) Wong Kar-Wai would say, “No, it’s the last day, you’ve got to make it.” So I would work with a fever!
It’s good that everyone's health-conscious now, and wants to avoid falling ill. So when I was preparing for this interview, some friends told me, They’d seen you and me do an interview, from many years ago. I don’t think you’d remember. We’re talking many years ago - decades here! You were really young at the time. At the TV station you were a rising star, a top male lead actor. So I interviewed you. I asked you a question, and I don’t know if you remember how you answered. I asked, “Have you thought about retirement?” You did give me an answer at the time. Do you remember at what age you said you’d retire?
I really don’t remember. I’m sure retirement was always on my mind then.
You were in your 20s then, not quite 30. You told me— “I will definitely retire at 36!”
[laughter]
What changed your mind?
I believe that when I started out as an actor, it was certainly hard work when I was just starting out. But I thought, I wouldn’t get to where I am today without going through tough times. But as I slowly grew as a person, my perspectives and values have changed. I feel more at ease. So I wouldn’t think in extremes like I did before. I think that in the past 10, 20… 10 years? I've become a more relaxed person. I wouldn’t just say, “now I’ll retire.” If I want to keep going, I will.
This is your favourite line of work, isn’t it?
Except sport.
Could you imagine yourself in any other career? I can’t.
I’d be a sportsperson.
A sportsperson, playing what?
I play a lot of sports. I like mountain biking, sailing, water skiing, surfing… I’m up for anything.
You really like water sports, don’t you?
It’s hot in Hong Kong, and summer takes up most of the year. What’s more refreshing than being in the water?
How about in winter?
I’d still be in the water, wearing long sleeves.
You wouldn’t take up running?
I don’t particularly like it… I can’t seem to find much variety in running. I like to interact with nature directly. There’s something new every day. Take sailing, for example. Every day is different, the weather changes.
Your body is in a different condition every day.
You're working with the changing conditions. You end up building up a lot of knowledge. You learn about nature, the weather, changes in conditions. The water, currents, what do you call it... Hot weather warms the ocean and you’ll have gusts of wind. I didn’t know all this. But the more I sailed, the more I thought,“This is great!”
You’ve got a real passion for this.
I do.
What have you been up to during the pandemic? It’s been 1— almost 2 years, hasn't it?
I was filming in 2 movies… And... flying here and there.
Do you need to quarantine?
Quarantine! Countless times.
We’ve talked for so long, let’s come back to this film, Shang-Chi. I believe Tony has received endless invitations to appear in overseas films. Why did you choose this film?
I didn't really... I believe it’s fate to be involved in certain films. I can’t just want to act in some type of film, then get it. An opportunity comes up, but sometimes the director might not like me, or I might not like the screenplay. Or I might like the director, but I don’t like the character. So you can’t just make this sort of thing happen. I think sometimes the time will be just right and things will happen. The director may like me, and I like the project, or I like the director. Or I might want to try something in particular. It takes a lot, a combination of factors, for something to happen.
It's like a piece of furniture, isn't it? The pieces need to be joined precisely.
Yes.
How were you scouted for this movie? How were you approached?
The director approached me, wanted to have a chat with me. So I...
What's your requirements for taking on a film? Do you need to read through the whole screenplay?
That would be best. It would.
You would've been in many films without a solid screenplay, wouldn't you?
There would still be an idea.
An overview of sorts.
But this movie... You know Marvel is very secretive. At the beginning, I was in a video conference call with the director. What he could tell me at the time was, "You're going to be the main villain. Your character has many layers." Then I asked, "do I need to fight?" "No, because you have those rings." So I said, "then I'll definitely be fine." That was all.
What about that drew you in? Being the main villain?
That was one of the draws. In the past few years, I wanted to try characters different to those I'd played previously.
Why do all actors who have played male leads want to go off and play villains?
Actually... there's more complexity to them. I feel like there's a different mindset between playing a protagonist and an antagonist. I've acted for 30-something years. It's about time I did something different.
So you're in, you're headed to the shoot, and you're now the main villain! What's the mindset behind this?
Oh, not for this film. I thought I was the villain at first. A month before the shoot, I read the script. I didn't think this character was a villain at all. There was a real human side to this villain. Perhaps Marvel was hoping to portray a villain from a different angle this time around. So I was puzzled. Initially I was expecting, "Ooh, a villain, this will be fun", but when I looked at the script, "no, this isn't a villain at all!"
Very sentimental?
Yes, and a lot of humanity.
You thought it would be easy playing a villain.
I didn't think it would be easy.
You didn't think there would be so much emotion.
I didn't think it would be easy. I thought there would be more evil in him. I read the script and thought, "oh no, he's not evil at all", And that's difficult to portray. How would you let the audience... and I thought, "wow it's as if he's a good guy?" I read through the script and couldn't find the evil in this character.
How would you portray this character? Was the director able to help you?
The director...
Or did he put a lot of trust in you?
I rarely... He put a lot of trust in me, and I don't discuss with the director often. I thought, what's the use of discussing? I could just act it out. You can be really idealistic when you discuss. I would rather do more... When I arrived, Destin would ask me, "Do you want to talk it out?" and I would say no.
Was there a read-through?
No, no read-through.
You went straight to shooting?
Yes, straight to the shoot.
Then it would be like, "Tony, stand here, in this shot do this and that, and you'd do it?
Yeah. It was kind of like that. We filmed the action scenes first. So there was time to warm up. Then the dramatic parts. I like the drama most. I felt the most excited during these parts. The action scenes were particularly tough, because it was summer in Australia then.
Did you need to train?
I did. At first I was told I didn't need to fight. Then when I got there— wow, there's so many action scenes! So I scrambled and...
But you've got those rings. You can just throw the rings.
Sure, but there's still some action involved. Because I didn't physically prepare beforehand, it was rather tough at first. I got used to it as the shoot went on, but the weather was still hot. And there were period costumes, so it was tough at first.
So there was a sequence, they filmed all the action scenes first, and then scenes with dialogue afterwards, is that right?
I think they deliberately scheduled this so I could warm up a little. So I wouldn't need to dive straight into very intense dialogue.
There are a lot of actors involved, right? Your character has a son, too. Is this the first time you're portraying a dad?
Would it be my first time...
Or you have, but not for a much older son?
Yes, not for a much older son. I had a child in “The Grandmaster” as well. But not that old, no.
How would you portray the emotions of a father-son relationship? Because your character didn't know his son.
It was manageable. In this movie, the father-- not that he didn't love his children. He didn't know how to love them. This character doesn't even know how to love himself. The love was from his wife, portrayed by Fala Chen, He found love in this woman. But he doesn't know how to love others. So he was very distant from his children, his sons— his daughters were pretty much ignored. He was a father figure who preferred sons over daughters, a rather... traditional father archetype. Almost the old-fashioned type.
In shooting this movie, what was most difficult for you?
The action scenes.
Do you do all these scenes yourself?
I try to, but they wouldn't let us do the really dangerous ones. If you're injured, who's going to replace you?
Sure.
But I try to do as much as I'm able.
You'd need to rehearse the scenes with everyone.
Of course. Once we arrived, they arranged for Fala, my son, played by Simu, and my daughter... like you and I used to, we would all practice in the studio.
How long were the working hours?
It was 10 working hours a day, but we went all the way through that. There was no break in between.
Really? I thought you would be sitting comfortably in your trailer?
No! We filmed a lot every day! You know how that made me felt? It felt like I was in my TV days again.
Really?
You'll think, "will we get through this much filming today?" And by the end of the day, you would. But it was very intense. Perhaps they didn't want us to have a break, because we'd have to disperse and regroup. So we went all the way through. Once we arrived in the studio, it was full steam ahead. There was no meal break, because there was always...
No meal break?
No.
I've never heard of a Hollywood film shoot without meal breaks.
There's food throughout the day. Catering comes around, and we'd just eat.
But there wouldn't be an hour for a meal break.
No.
How long was shooting in total?
I was involved for about... 4 months.
Was that long or short timeframe, in your experience?
I felt like it was short, because they were very efficient and organised. They planned it really well. So every you'd head in and whoosh,
It flowed well.
Yes, very professional.
In your opinion, are there particular scenes you're in that the audience should pay attention to?
I think... I wouldn't say particular scenes, but the film as a whole. I don't think you've all seen me in this get-up before.
We could tell from the promos.
Very different to what I've played before.
Did you stay in one place for four months, or did you have to fly around?
We were only in Sydney, because we were in a studio. It was all green screen. There were a lot of special effects, so we only had to construct part of a set, And the rest was green screen, so it was mostly shot in the studio. Only the opening and ending were elsewhere, in a park, and in a village on a set they'd constructed. So I was there for... I was in Sydney the whole time. But because of the pandemic, I left for a few months in the middle, and returned when were were able to shoot again.
How did you feel about your experiences after the shoot? It's a Marvel movie, very different from the dramas and other films you've been in. How would you sum up your experiences?
Very stressed, very frustrated.
Really?
Because I'm the type of person who stays in their comfort zone. I filmed with familiar directors, and familiar crew.
You've really leapt out of your zone there.
I really stepped out of this comfort zone, working with strangers. The only person I could trust in was the director. I didn't know anyone else there. And when I got a copy of the screenplay, like I mentioned, I realised, "Wow, a villain that doesn't feel like a villain, what do I do?" I'd only received the script a month before the shoot. And when I got there, I had to work with the dialect coaches on delivery. I was filming, I was thinking... it was stressful. But we got through in the end.
Where were the costumes done?
In Tokyo. I was there at the time, and our costume designer kindly flew over to dress and fit me. At the time I didn't know what was in the script, I didn't know the story. But the costumes helped me a lot at the time. The movie's costumes were made beautifully. I thought they had good design sense. So when I was dressed for the first time, I was able to feel...
That you were the character.
Yes, roughly. I had an initial feeling for it. And then I would turn up in person, and get a better feel as I played the character.
So the shoot is over, it's about to be released. What plans do you have next, Tony?
Well when I came back to Hong Kong, I took part in a local film. Then I might shoot one in Shanghai, and then a TV series in Vancouver.
So you've done a complete turn-around since I last interviewed you. You were thinking of retiring at 36, do you not plan to retire now?
Not that I haven't thought about it... I'll stop when I feel tired. Then I'll go back to playing sports. If I feel like I've taken too long a break, and go "no, I need to do something," and there's something I'm really interested in, I'll do it. I don't need to come to a complete stop. It's something I like, after all.
So when you film in future, you wouldn't be thinking, "oh, I've been in a Hollywood production, "I will only appear in productions at that tier.” You'll be happy with a good screenplay.
Yes.
You might be asked to shoot drama films again. You would still take that on?
Well, I haven't given myself...
You've already left your comfort zone.
Yes, but I haven't really limited myself to what I think I should film. If there's a good film, I'll shoot in it. If there's something I like, I'll do it.
Well Tony, surely a typical day in Hong Kong for you wouldn't be on the water all day. What's a typical day like for you without shoots?
Well I'd get up, and there would be at least 2 hours of exercise.
Every day?
Yes.
Monday through Sunday?
Maybe one, half day's rest. You've got to let your body recover.
How about when you're shooting in Hollywood?
Not during filming, I'd save up my energy for that. Shooting takes 10 hours a day, but hair and makeup could take 2 hours. That's 12 hours, and it was tiring.
That's true.
I needed the energy for filming. But in Hong Kong, without a shoot, I'd have 2 hours exercise in the morning, make lunch, I might do some sports, like sailing, or water skiing. I'll come home, maybe watch a movie, or read a book. That's it. Maybe I'll have dinner.
I wouldn't exactly call that exciting. [Laughter]
It's pretty exciting!
For you, at least.
If the weather's good and I spend the day out sailing, I'd feel really happy about that. But not every day's a good day. I might capsize, and it would feel wrong. But it's not all that bad.
Why don't you enter competitions?
I have entered competitions.
Have you placed in these competitions?
Well... I have placed before.
What did you place?
I think second.
Oh, that's quite good. If you competed in the Olympics in sailing, there's no age limit there right?
Yes, there's no limit. But you don't necessarily have to compete in the Olympics. I could...
But we would all be happier for it, Tony. Imagine, Tony Leung Chiu-Wai representing Hong Kong and winning a medal! You've seen how happy the medalists have been this year.
It's really hard! It's really hard!
Why is that?
You're not as fit as younger people. It's hard. I play sports purely for enjoyment. I feel like it's an experience.
Fair enough.
It's... I'm not the type to want first place or something.
You're not a competitive person.
Yes. I don't want to experience a sport in that way. I'm there for my own enjoyment, not to win.
Let's say in future... since I last saw you in 2013— that wasn't even an interview, and now I've met you after all this time. Let's say in 5 years. What would you be doing in 5 years' time?
Maybe I...
Back then you said you'd retire at 36. I'll ask you again now, let's not dredge up the past. What do you think you'd be doing?
In 5 years' time, I think I would have more time for sports. [laughter]
Still on the water?
Yeah. Well, not necessarily, but a lot of different sports. I do want to try some—
Try running! I've seen Kar Ling (Carina Lau) run before!
Yes, she likes running, and hiking too.
Why don't you run with her?
I don't really like running.
Hiking?
Hiking, I'd rather... well when I'm skiing, I'd walk in the back country, in good weather, carrying my skis and wearing my cleats, it's the same thing. I'd hike up and ski down. But not that kind of hiking. Well sometimes... when in summer, in Hokkaido, I can't ski. I would still hike, but I wouldn't really like it. But it would be better with friends.
But you don't like being around too many people.
I sometimes like being with family. But my family... not everyone can hike. One might cramp up halfway.
Since you like being on the water so much, how many people does it take to do that?
One.
Just you?
Yeah.
Just someone to steer the boat.
Uhh... yeah.
It doesn't matter if there's a boat?
I do a lot of different water sports. I have those... electric boards, the type that shoot up like a magic carpet on the water, I have a stand up paddleboard, I can surf by myself too, that's doable. A lot of the sports I do can be done solo. I don't need a lot of people around.
You've really changed from before. You used to like to... go out at night?
Yeah.
That's all gone?
It has for a while. I haven't been in the nightlife for 20, 30 years. I'd eat out for dinner at most. Then I'd go straight home.
I remember I used to shoot TV dramas with you, you surprised me— We've filmed one or two series together, I would go straight home to bed afterwards, because I've always been a morning person. You could still say, "I'm going to go out for a bit." Yet the next day — our call sheets had us in very early — you were still able to make it in on time. Back then…it was a rite of passage.
Because I was young. Yes, and it was life experience. There are things you should do at that age.
Sure. Well, I hope to see you in another production soon. If this series were really successful, would you continue in any sequels?
[laughter] I really don't know, I can't say.
Why's that?
I feel like... as I've mentioned, there's fate involved in shooting a particular film. We'll see where...
…where fate takes you.
...where fate takes me.
Thank you Tony Leung Chiu-Wai for being with us today.
You're welcome.

[teaser] [ Chapter 1 ] [ Chapter 2 ]
(you can play Die For You by The Weeknd while reading this 😌)

genre: romance, smut, angst, series.
warning: corruption, oral sex (both receiving and giving), cream pie, rough sex, mention of religion, rough sex, self-esteem, psychology, public sex, sub! reader, sex toys. possessive mark two-faced mark
I think I’m right for you, babe. You know what I’m thinking, see it in your eyes. You hate that you want me, hate it when you cry. It ain’t workin’ ‘cause you’re perfect and I know that you’re worth it I can’t walk away. (Die for you by The Weeknd)
Tumblr media
today is you case presentation with mark. you were deeply affected of what happened in the cubicle but mark seemed unbothered because he was greeting you as usual. it wasn’t weird, he always greets everyone but what was really weird was your classmates. they were looking at you and it made you felt conscious, they were not saying anything but sometimes you catch them glancing at you but you brushed it off and focus on your brainstorming with mark.
yes you do dislike mark but you thank god that he's your partner. he never missed a question from your professor during case study on the other hand you're just standing beside him dumbly. you only understand the question AND the answer once mark responded. well, mark a very kind person he was, despite of answering it alone he made sure that you're included in the case saying base in y/n and my research, even lied that some are from my own research but of course not. plus, for some odd reason, your classmates' eyes were literally made you uncomfortable to the point you were having a hard time to breathe or your social anxiety attacking you. however, at the very moment, you want to give mark a tight hug for making your life easy.
the whole presentation ended. you were putting your things back to your back while standing while mark scrolling in his phone because his dad texted him asking if he could buy him some new pen. you gasped when an arm was on your shoulder, and that caught mark's attention but he hid his annoyance.
"hey, y/n, i heard you like someone ha?" his brows were playfully raising. it was lucas, he gave mark a meaningful glance but mark smiled confusingly.
"what?" you didn't have any idea what he's telling you.
"i heard someone saw-"
"mark!" mina suddenly appeared calling mark's name a little too loud which made lucas stop from talking. "we're going to a milk tea house, do you want to come with us?"
“y/n, come with us.” lucas pulled you closer to his body. mark was taring at lucas arm around your shoulder. you weren’t aware of mark’s expression because your mind was thinking ways to breakthrough from lucas.
“no!” mina exclaimed. he caught everyone’s attention, and she became flustered. “i mean, we will only make her feel uncomfortable and lucas please remove your arms to y/n, she doesn’t look comfortable.” she mumbled. lucas did remove his arms from you.
“milk tea? can we also come with you?” then the people started to surround mark. it became noisy, knowing you who’s allergic to people and noise sneaked out from the circle and left the room.
mark turned his head to look at you but you’re nowhere to be found. he sighed and forced himself to interact with his classmates.
Tumblr media
your mother texted you that he will be away for one week because of their excursion. she left you an allowance good for one week including your meals for the whole day and transportation. you already had your dinner outside. right now you were just laying down on your favorite long sofa in your living room, watching NCT 2020 funny moments. suddenly, mark's name popped. mark is your class representative, he has access to class contacts and it wasn't that mark called you because you're always late in the class so for almost past 3 years he's the one you always contact just to inform the class that you're just late.
wait, did i miss an announcement? you quickly left the class maybe something came up.
"hello, was there an announcement?" you directly asked
"none, just checking you. we haven't had a proper conversation awhile ago unless it's case related."
you heart melted, he's very kind and sweet... that scares you.
"ah okay." you simply answered. it wasn't because you want to talk to him, well you really don't want to talk to him but it wasn't that he's annoying or anything- it was just you hate phone calls. you hate talking with someone in general unless it's your mom.
"well, have you eaten yet?" he tried to save the conversation, he wanted to hear your voice longer.
"yes." it was a one-word reply.
mark was slightly shattered because you don't seem to want to talk to him. he just thought that maybe you were tired.
"okay, goodnight."
"yeah." then you hang up.
you returned watching youtube until you drifted into your dreamland... no it wasn't your dreamland.
you gasped and sat up as you woke from another perverted dream with mark. your chest was rising aggressively and you look down as you felt the wetness between your thighs. you raked your hands over your hair as you felt frustration and guilt. this was your second time that you dreamt of mark doing erotic things. you looked at the digital clock it was already 2 am. you groaned and stood up, you want to wash your body because the stickiness just made you feel more guilty if it stays there longer.
you entered your room and stripped, walking directly into your bathroom. you opened a warm shower and as the water trickled on your body, hands unconsciously trailing to the south. your dream was so hot, you can't lie about that. it was in the same cubicle but instead of his digits, it was his dick inside you.
your eyes closed as you rubbed your bead slow while recalling your dream. you squeezed your left breast and imagining it was mark's squeezing it. you want something to fill your womanhood so you inserted your two fingers and thrust it. your lungs felt like being suppressed by pressure, your thrust became furious.
"oh my- mark fuck." you moaned his name and you have never been so ashamed. it was so wrong but the feeling was so good that you weren't able to stop yourself from moaning. you felt the tension in your thighs. you knelt down and the hand that squeezing your breast was now on your clit rubbing it furiously.
"mark! fuck right there." you felt the tension in your abdomen and your legs started to shake. your body just gave in, bending down, cheek shoved against the wet tiles while the warm water splashed on your body.
you screamed erotically, eyes rolling and lashes flickering. your legs were shaking as you reached your high.
Tumblr media
 mark hasn't slept yet, it's okay for him because there are no classes. he was staring at the ceiling and mind preoccupied by you.
he was trying to understand why do you keep pushing him away even though you clearly wanted him too. mark did remember where you say he's very different from you, and so? what's wrong with it? what he didn't like is the thought of changing just for a single person but...
"shall i?" he chuckled bitterly. he was really close to his insanity. he feared that this affection will grow into something that is uncontrollable- like an obsession.
he checked the time through his phone. it's 5 in the morning. he decided to jog outside, so, he took a quick shower and wore his tracksuit and running shoes. maybe if tiredness hits him, he will feel sleepy. mark already went to your house and he didn't tell you that his house is just a few blocks away from you, instead of going to his normal route, he changed it, jogging in your house direction.
when he was closed to your street, he was surprised to see you outside. he stood and admire your naturalness from afar. your hair was disheveled, your eyes weren't completely closed yet, and your face was a little puffy but it doesn't take away your beauty. plus, your cute teddy bear pajamas made him smile. he sends his gratitude to god because he created a masterpiece.
yeah, mark is deeply in love and he thinks there's no way out of this feeling.
you were actually waiting for your breakfast, your pancakes from mcdonalds and a warm chocolate drink. when the delivery arrived, you paid and gave him a tip for being quick. you were about to go back inside when you heard a VERY familiar voice which was owned by the person who sleep deprived you
"Y/N!" his voice was loud, it even cracked.
"what are you doing here?" you asked.
"morning jog, and good morning to you." he replied and greeted at the same time.
"jog.." you paused and gasped. "from your condo to here?!" you exclaimed in disbelief. mark laughed at your reaction. of course it'll shock you because you already been in his condo and if he jogged it from there to here, he was supposed to be passing out right now.
"no, my family house is actually a few blocks away from here."  he said.
WHAT?! this is not good. you thought. the more he gets closer the more he has access to your mind and body. you masked your displeased face and just nodded.
"okay, ahm. i'm heading back now. bye." you pointed at your house door and awkwardly turned your back walking towards your door.
you expected him to do something because he always do that but to your disappointment he didn't. you looked back to check if he was stil there but he was no longer standing there but you saw him jogging away from your direction. you sighed in disappoinment that made you mentally slap yourself for feeling very contradicting .
you ate miserably your affordable and favorite pancake.
Tumblr media
mark took a bathe and go down to eat breakfast together with his parents. they prayed before eating. the cooked food by his mom made him question why your ordered delivery food for breakfast.
"how's school?" mark's dad asked him.
"good, still the same." he replied.
"your father will lead a service, you can invite your classmates. oh mina, you can invite her, she's very sweet girl." his mom said but she doesn't have any motive. she knew mark have not interest in romantic relationship as of the moment, her child was so focus in maintaining his grades and scholarship. at least, that's what he though.. if she only knew.
"i'll try." he forced a smile but behind it was growing tiredness. he knew that his classmates doesn't really want to praise but because they were so fond of mark and they just love to hang out. it defeated the purpose of going to church.
after the breakfast, mark's parent left for their work. he washed the dishes and went up stairs and stayed in his room with his music and guitar. it helped to detach his mind from thinking of you, but it was just temporary as he saw you name appeared in his phone. he almost threw his guitar just to answer your call very quick.
"y/n? why?" he sound so excited.
"ahm, mark... well.. perhaps, do you ahm, have notes from yesterdays discussion? i mean in all cases, not just ours?" you were very stuttering because of shyness. your class have long test about the cases but you're notes are everywhere and you can't understand your writings.
"yes." he said. he knew where this is going. he quickly get out from his bed and go straight to his closet, choosing shirt to wear. "do you need it? i can bring it to you."
"no, no. ahm, you do digital notes right? mind if you could send it through gdrive?" you really don't want to bother him... nah lies. you're just preventing things from happening.
mark paused for a moment and was a little hurt, he understood your statement as if you don't want to see him. but mark will not having any of that.
"it was handwritten though." he faked sorry. he hoped you didn't notice what he did there, hoping that you received it as if it was literally handwritten like directly to paper since he sounded apologetic.
"oh... i see. well, ahm, can you drop by in the house?"
mark still not satisfied by just dropping by.
"how about we study together? we can review together."
you translated it like 'the smartest in your class can help you'and that's very tempting. you can't easily study 8 cases and you need him. you used his diuretics notes in lecture, you almost aced it. now, your lab needs him.
"then, pizza is okay for you?" you whisoered from the other end.
mark secretly fist pump and grinned in triumph.
"yes."
Tumblr media
you spayed air freshener in your living room and changed your shirt to another shirt? you only have tees just in different colors, you changed your short into black sweatpants. you made sure that your hair was far different from the hair he saw this morning. you already ordered the pizza.
the doorbell rang. your quickly opened the door for him. mark was standing, carrying his ipad and his other hand holding a two milk teas in a cup holder. he's wearing dark blue t-shirt and gray sweatpants. you smiled awkwardly and let him in. you scanned his body, looking for paper or at least a piece of paper but you didn't see any of it. mark was looking down at you, watching you observing him.
"where's your notes?" you curiously asked.
"here." he lifted his ipad. your jaw dropped.
"i thought you did not do digital notes?"
"i don't recalling telling you i didn't, i just said it was handwritten and when i saif that handwritten in my ipad." he reasoned. taht made you think later realizing that he was right and that made you dumb.
you sighed in defeat.
"by the way, bought you milk tea since you missed it yesterday." he said, you acually don't care if you missed it or not.
you walked towards the single couch and patted it.
"you can seat here." you said.
he quickly sat down and put the milk teas on top of your living room's table. he confusingly watched you when you sat on the long couch and it was the end of it. you were too far from him.
you noticed his sulking face.
"mr. mark lee, what's with your long face?" you chuckled teasingly.
"why are you too far from me?" he pouted.
"damage control." you replied shortly and get your case 3 notes which is very illegible to read. "can i borrow your case 3?"
"why? what did i do?" mark asked was clueless. he did not pay attention to your question
"mark, being alone with you is not healthy anymore." you directly answered him.
"orgasm is healthy, what do you mean?" mark didn't get your.
"mark, that's not what i mean. we're like horny teenagers doing unappropriate things."
"we're already passed in that phase in life, we're both adults." he rebutted.
you mentally face palmed yourself in frustration. why is he so smart and dumb at the same time.
"mark, that's not why i mean. we're being to touchy, every time we are left alone the next thing we knew we're touching each other. do you know how scary was that to me? it only happened twice but i am already longing for more! when i don't feel your touches i go craaazy! i even touched myself for freaking 2-" you froze when you realize what you were telling him you stared blankly at him.
on the other hand, mark was very pleased hearing you exploded from frustration as you became honest for the first time.
"you touched yourself? what 2?" he smirked and lifted his brows.
you cleared your throat.
"can i borrow your ipad? i need your case 3." you murmured and look anywhere but him your face heat up. you want to be swallowed by your favorite sofa.
"then get it."
you look at his ipad sitting on his manly wide spread apart thighs. your eyes stared at the mark that makes your knees weak and wet pussy. his fiery eyes looking directly toyou while he was sitting comfortably on the couch and arms are both in each side of the armrest.
"mark lee, i need it." you tried to use your stern voice but failed because your voice was too small.
"i told you, you can get it.. here." he glanced at his ipad.
you gulped and the living room's air became thick. your submissive self switched on and you just found yourself walking towards him. your hands felt cold as you reached for his ipad. when you lifted it, his bulge forming in his gray sweatpants made you almost drool. you were reminded how fucking hot it was.
you want to touch it and do anything you can possibly could but your single rational braincells keeping you in the light.
"you don't seem sure of what you really wanted to do." he snapped you from overthinking. "should i make you choices?"
"what?" you asked confusingly but your voice was shaking.
"you bring that ipad with you and go back to where you were sitting, or..." he looked up to you with his dark eyes, leaning a little forward you trace the side of your hips with his palm..
"put the ipad on the table and sit in my lap."
mark knew that you can never say no at this state. if you could only see how your body shivered and how defeated your face was, he knew you already gave in.
and his was right.

Would love to see a wired autocomplete interview with coops! 🥰
Anon, did you read my mind? These two have such chaotic energy when they’re given an outlet and it was a true pleasure to write it. Dorcas is exhausted. Sweater Weather credit goes to @lumosinlove!
“Wait, I want to pull the tab,” Remus said, tugging on the edge of the cardboard lightly as Sirius tried to hold it out of his reach without falling off his chair.
“I get to read it out loud for you and then we switch!” Sirius protested, smacking him gently on the head with it. The resulting bonk noise made them both break down laughing.
“You guys know we’re rolling, right?” Dorcas asked as she gathered a stack of cards in her lap, looking highly amused.
“Really?”
“Yeah.” She turned to the camera with a bright smile. “Welcome back to Lion Pride, hockey fans! I’m Dorcas Meadowes and I’m here today with Sirius Black and Remus Lupin to answer some of the internet’s most pressing questions. How are you two feeling?”
“Terrified,” Sirius said.
“The internet is like the Twilight Zone,” Remus agreed. “Who goes first?”
“Sirius, you’ve got a card already. Take it away.”
He cleared his throat and grabbed the edge of the first pull tab, ripping it off slowly. “That is so satisfying, woah. How tall is Remus Lupin?”
“I am five foot eleven and a half.”
“That half inch comes from your sneakers and you know it.”
“It does not!”
Sirius just smiled and removed the next paper slip. “What language does Remus Lupin speak?”
“I speak English and a little bit of French. Tried to learn Spanish in high school, but failed miserably.”
“I love the wording on this one,” Sirius said as he turned the board toward the camera. “Remus Lupin Green Bay Packers.”
“Dammit, now everyone knows my full name,” Remus sighed. “Uh, the Packers are cool.”
“I think people were wondering if you ever played on the team,” Dorcas said.
Remus raised an eyebrow. “Do I look like a football player to you?”
“Next question!” Sirius ripped the tab off and took a good section of the paper above with it. There was a beat of stunned silence. “I am…so sorry.”
Behind the camera, Marlene burst out laughing, along with most of the camera crew. “It’s fine, keep reading.”
“Okay, um…” Sirius squinted at the partially torn-off question. “Remus Lupin name meaning.”
Remus groaned. “I hate this question. Yes, it does mean Wolf Wolf. Yes, my dad’s name also means Wolf Wolf. Yes, my mother’s maiden name is Howell. I’m aware of the endless puns.”
“Don’t you mean a-were?” Sirius asked as a slow grin spread across his face. Remus grabbed the card and bonked him over the head with it.
“Remus, your turn.” Dorcas handed him a poster board and took the blank one.
“I’m going to be careful with this one, unlike somebody,” he teased, kissing Sirius on the cheek. “Is Sirius Black…related to Pascal Dumais?”
“In all the ways that matter, yes.”
Remus grinned when he read the next one. “Is Sirius Black missing a tooth?”
“No!” Sirius gave the camera an offended look. “I have all my teeth, thank you very much.”
“Is Sirius Black mean?”
“I don’t think so.”
“Reporters don’t like you very much.”
“The feeling is mutual. I love the fans though, most of them are so sweet.”
“Oh, I like this one. Is Sirius Black married?” Remus rested his chin on the top of the card and batted his eyelashes, making Sirius laugh.
“Almost! Ask me again in July.” Remus set the card on the floor and Dorcas passed Sirius a new one. “Does Remus Lupin wear glasses?”
“Nope.”
“Does Remus Lupin—I have never said your name so many times in one sitting, my god—does Remus Lupin have siblings?”
“Yup.”
“Does Remus Lupin—”
“Can you elaborate?” Dorcas asked with a laugh. “How many siblings? Names? Ages?”
Remus turned to the camera. “I have one brother named Julian and he’s ten years old. He likes piggyback rides, ice cream, and hockey.”
“Much better. Take it away, Cap.”
“Does Remus Lupin have allergies?”
Remus frowned in confusion. “Why do people want to know that? Uh, yeah, I’m allergic to some pollens. Spring is hell.”
“How many of these do we have?” Sirius asked as he tossed the board over his shoulder and crossed his legs.
“Quite a few! Loops, you’re up.”
“Where is Sirius Black from?”
“Canada.”
“Where does Sirius Black live?”
“The Lions ice rink. I set up a tent in the middle of the goal posts every night so that I’m never late to practice.”
“Sirius Black gay.”
Sirius paused. “I think we’re missing a couple words in there.”
“That’s literally all it says,” Remus laughed, moving it to show him. “Sirius Black gay. I don’t know, honey, Sirius Black gay?”
“Sirius Black very gay,” he confirmed. “Sirius Black thinks people need to have better grammar.”
“Is Sirius Black’s hair naturally curly?”
“No, I use a curling iron every morning to do each individual curl,” he said. “It takes me seven hours and thirteen minutes, and I use a full can of hairspray.”
Remus scooted over so Dorcas could hand him a new card. “He keeps a stopwatch and tries to beat his personal record every time.”
Sirius pulled the first tab away and immediately started laughing too hard to speak.
“What does it say? You can’t just leave me hanging!” Sirius turned the board around and Remus leaned down to read it. “Is Remus Lupin hockey? Yes. I am the entire sport of hockey condensed into one being. I’m coming for basketball next. Thanks for asking!”
It took a few seconds for Sirius to get his breath back. “What is Remus Lupin—”
“I thought we just answered that.”
“—what is Remus Lupin zodiac sign?”
Remus paused. “Is that the thing Pots was talking about the other day? With the quiz?”
“That was love languages.”
“Your zodiac sign depends on your birthday,” Marlene called. “When were you born?”
“March 10th.”
“You’re a Pisces.”
“I’m a Pisces!” he said brightly to the camera. “No idea what that means, but it sounds cool.”
“It means you’re two fish.” She laughed as Remus sucked his cheeks in for a fish face. “Very nice.”
“Thank you.”
Sirius was especially careful as he pulled the paper slip off the next question. “What is Remus Lupin first job?”
“The grammar of these questions is killing me. Um, I worked in the university bookstore during college.”
“On the list of ‘things that don’t surprise anyone’,” Dorcas joked.
“Did Remus Lupin go to college?”
Remus gave the camera a look. “First of all, I have a medical degree. Second of all, did people completely forget about the whole ‘about to be drafted right out of college’ thing? It was a grand total of four years ago! Google it!”
“That’s what they did,” Sirius pointed out, gesturing to the board.
“True.”
“Last one for this card: how old is Remus Lupin?”
Remus thought for a moment. “Y’know, I kind of lost track after the first few centuries. My turn…what is Sirius Black real name?”
Sirius glanced at the camera. “It’s Sirius Black? Is this a trick question?”
“There are people out there who think that’s a fake name,” Dorcas said.
“Um, okay. Yeah, my real name is Sirius Black, my brother is Regulus, my dad is Orion, and I have cousins named Andromeda and Bellatrix.”
“What’s your uncle’s name again?” Remus asked.
“Which one? Cygnus? Phineas Nigellus? Arcturus?” At Dorcas’ surprised look, he laughed. “Oh, I could go all day long with this. That’s the tea on old French families with weird-ass naming traditions.”
“This next one is similar: Sirius Black middle name?”
“Orion.”
“Fun fact: the first time I saw your full name, Moody had written it and I thought it said ‘onion’.” Remus laughed as Sirius’ jaw fell open. “Those three seconds were a highlight of my life. Alright, what’s next…what color are Sirius Black’s eyes?”
“Blue.”
Remus shook his head. “They’re gray, almost silver.”
“Basically blue.”
“There’s nothing basic about you, babe.” Remus slid the board onto the floor and passed Sirius a new one. “Hit me with your best shot.”
“Is Remus Lupin Canadian?”
“I wish.”
“Is Remus Lupin left-handed?”
“No, but a lot of people seem to think that I am.”
“Is—” Sirius cut off with a snort. “Is Remus Lupin scrappy?”
“Are you fucking with me?” Remus asked, leaning over. “Is that actually what it says?”
“Yep.”
“Scrappy? Really?” He shook his head, lost for words. “I mean, I guess. Nobody’s ever called me scrappy before.”
“I don’t like this last one. How much is Remus Lupin worth?” Sirius wrapped an arm around his shoulders and kissed his temple. “You’re priceless.”
“I’m worth at least half a PB & J, but only if you use the good peanut butter. If you use the shitty Skippy stuff, hand over the whole sandwich. My turn! Does Sirius Black have piercings?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know.”
“Does Sirius Black have an Instagram?”
“I do. Sblack12, if you want to see pictures of my friends’ kids and this cutie.”
“Is Sirius Black Australian?”
“Fuck off. I’m French Canadian, how the hell did anyone think I was Australian?”
“Sirius Black birthday.”
“I have one.”
“What is it?” Marlene asked. “I’ll tell you your zodiac sign.”
Sirius rolled his eyes. “November 3rd.”
“Scorpio bitch.”
“Hey!”
“On the bright side, Scorpios and Pisces are super compatible.”
“What a relief, I was really banking on our astrology compatibility,” Remus said drily.
Dorcas handed Sirius a fresh board. “First up: can Remus Lupin sing?”
“Eh.”
“The correct answer is yes. What is Remus Lupin like in real life?”
“I’m horrible. I kick every puppy I see and carry one of those sticky hands from arcades to steal candy from children.” A smile twitched at the edges of his mouth and Sirius’ cheeks turned pink from suppressing his laughter. “Like Spiderman, but evil.”
“What happened to Remus Lupin after college?”
“What didn’t happen to Remus Lupin after college?” he laughed, leaning back in his seat. “These past couple years have been bonkers fucking yonkers. I became a PT, got a secret boyfriend, and now I’m engaged and an NHL player. There were, like, three seasons of character development squished into eighteen months.”
“Alright, last one. Why Remus Lupin kissed Sirius Black?”
“Because he’s hot and nice. Also, because he’s my fiancé.”
“Is that the criteria for kisses?” Sirius asked. “I just have to be hot and nice?”
“Pretty much. You’ve got both boxes permanently checked.”
“Final card,” Dorcas warned as she handed it to him. “Make it count.”
Remus cleared his throat. “How does Sirius Black work out?”
“I rollerskate and hula hoop for six hours a day simultaneously.”
“How old is Sirius Black?”
“Ageless.”
“How did Sirius Black meet Remus Lupin?”
“Fun story, actually. You know the movie Ocean’s Eleven?”
“Are Sirius Black and James Potter—”
“Dating.”
“—still friends.”
“Damn, I thought I had that one.” He did a double take. “Still friends? What happened? I saw him an hour ago, tops.”
“You might have to google it,” Remus suggested as he slid the board across the floor. “That’s it!”
“Way to go, guys,” Dorcas laughed. “I know literally nothing new about you.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Sirius said as the two high-fived. “We were completely honest the whole time.”
She faced the camera with a poorly-hidden smile. “Thanks for joining us today, Lions, and remember to like and subscribe for more content!”

Ryuu to Sobakasu no Hime (Belle) Novel | English Translation | Chapter 2
Tumblr media
**This is a machine translation. I put it together by extracting text page-by-page from a .pdf version of the Japanese novel, and running it through Google translate. I have only minorly edited some of the more confusing lines to make it more read-able. It is still a very rough translation, but it’s good enough to understand what’s going on. If there is anyone out there who wants to properly translate the novel, I am more than happy to edit it, if you’ll contact me.**

Chapter 2: Suzu
"Buhaa!"
I got up from a thin futon and took a big breath.
That made me almost hit my head against the low ceiling. This is a shabby attic in the countryside, with rafters supporting the roof approaching just above the bed. "Ah, ah .... ah ..."
Tumblr media
It's morning. The sunlight is dazzling. The feeling of the glittering world up to that point remains. I close my eyelids because I want to reach for the residue. Certainly I was standing at the tip of the whale's nose and singing. Wearing gorgeous costumes, singing freely. When I open my eyelids, in front of me is a smartphone on the sheets with the display turned off. On the dark surface, you can see yourself illuminated by the sun. The faded pajamas I've been wearing since I was in junior high school. Messy hair from sleeping. Half-open eyes.
And the freckles scattered on my cheeks. It makes me very depressed. I sigh. Then, I heard my father's voice from the first floor, "Suzu? What's wrong?" I feel impatient. Of course, this isn't a soundproof room, it's just a miserable 7-year-old girl's room. The only way to prevent the sound from leaking out is to wrap it in a futon. Was my voice louder than usual? If so ... The cold sweat of regret floats on my back. "No, it’s nothing ...!"
I hurriedly reply that while crawling on all fours off the bed. What if he’s suspicious and comes upstairs? No, I don't think he’ll come. I changed into my uniform and went downstairs. I didn't see my father. He may be preparing to go to work. He opened the porch and left the window down to let in the cool morning air. He lightly cleaned the living room and dining room and cleaned up the magazines left on the table. While boiling the water, I put the flowers in the garden in a vase and placed it next to the photo frame in the kitchen. He puts a tea bag in a mug and pours hot water. Steam with the scent of black tea boils. My mother is still smiling in the picture frame today.
I'm eating rice. I was sitting on the porch, drinking tea. Dad, who wore a dark blue T-shirt on his tanned skin, came out to the garage with a backpack containing work tools on his shoulders. "Suzu, I’m leaving." I replied, keeping my mouth on the mug. "... Okay" "What about dinner?" "... I’m fine."
"... I see. Then, I'll go." Dad must have been in trouble. I could understand without looking. The engine of a four-wheel drive vehicle starts. After backing up, it turns back and goes down the slope. The sound of the tires travelling across the pebbles slowly drifts away.
I wonder how long I will not make eye contact with him. How long has it been since I stopped talking properly? I wonder how much time has passed since we stopped eating together. There was a notification sound. A balloon pops up on the screen of the smartphone. "Belle is the best beauty created by the virtual world "U." Languages around the world are translated instantly.
"Very unique and rare song" "Belle's song is full of self-confidence" "The most notable presence in 3 billion accounts"
The text balloons went up one after another, competing for the lead, and in a blink of an eye filled the area around the bell icon. But I have no joy, no sense of accomplishment, no sense of exhilaration. No matter how much attention Belle gets, it doesn't matter. With my mouth in my rimmed mug, I shut myself in my shell. The balloon with one comment swells up significantly. It is one of the functions of balloons to enlarge and display the comments that attract the most attention.
Of the tremendous number of comments, the one that attracted the most attention was "Who is she?" I don't think most people in the world know about it, but Shikoku and Kochi are proud of their rich climate, where the steep mountains that cover them, and of the beautiful blue shining clear streams that flow through the valleys. More than 150 years ago, we produced a number of people who dramatically reformed the long-standing feudal society of Japan, which is also one of our prides. The daylight hours are top class in Japan. Alcohol consumption is also top class. Perhaps because of that, my city’s personality is clear, and is said to be friendly and cheerful. But even in such a situation, some people are dark and are always looking down. One of them is me. My house is in the corner of a village with about 30 houses on the slope of a mountain.
A river called the Niyodo River runs ahead of me, and is connected to the opposite bank by a subsidence bridge. A subsidence bridge is a bridge without balustrades, and is designed so that it will not be washed away even if the river rises and the bridge sinks. I cross it every day unless this bridge sinks. The flow of the Niyodo River is still quiet and blue today. Occasionally tourists come by rental car and take a number of pictures on the subsidence bridge, saying that it's beautiful. It's a nice village, isn't it? They do not know the truth of the area. With the school bag on my side, I go down the stone steps and walk on a steep slope. A neighbor's grandmother who was sweeping and cleaning used to call out to me, "Oh, Suzu-chan, good morning," and so on. But not now. The shutters of many homes are tightly closed.
The number of people who live here gradually decreased as they died or moved to the city. There are many such settlements in the Niyodo River basin. It is said that it is near here that a sociologist coined the term "marginal village" long ago. I've been told many times since I was little that adults say that the number of people has decreased surprisingly compared to the village’s peak population. It is at the forefront of a declining population, declining birthrate and aging society, faster than anywhere else in Japan. That is an unmistakable fact. There is a stop at the end of the national highway after going up the slope. The rusty timetable at the bus stop only shows times in the morning and evening.
It's not yet time. After a while, the bus came. I sit in the usual seat at the back of the bus. No one else is in the bus. Passing through the stops one after another. No one is on board. While the bus is shaking, I dimly look at the bulletin board near the driver's seat.
"This bus route will be discontinued at the end of September.”
I live in a place where no one wants to live. It stands right next to a steep cliff approaching the rough sea. I reach the end of the bus route and transfer on to a train.
High school and junior high school students in uniforms from other schools come in little by little at each station. The closer you get to the center of the city, the less visible the floor is, and the two-car train fills up with customers. An announcement in the car tells me the name of the station I should get off at. I see many students of the same uniforms on the way to school. Together we climb a gentle slope. I am one of them. That gives me a lot of peace of mind, maybe.
The summer sunshine is dazzling. Last fall, the brass band was playing in front of the symbol tree in the courtyard. Many students surround it and listen to it. The announcement of the brass band is always popular. It's not just about playing. All players take steps as they perform. It's a lively and fun dance. All the instruments have the steps perfectly matched, yet the performance does not get twisted or shaken. I and Hiro-chan (short for Hiroka) also listened to it from the veranda on the 2nd floor of the gymnasium. When the first song ended and the second song started, a slender tall, beautiful girl was holding the alto saxophone in front of her. She came out. She shook her long, loosely waved hair and played her solo without any disturbance, taking attractive steps from side to side.
"……Cute."
I instinctively say it aloud. Luca-chan - her full name is Ruka Watanabe – I am sighingly fascinated by the lively beauty of her. I can hear the voices of other girls watching on the same balcony.
"Luka-chan is the princess of our school, isn't she?"
"She’s slim and has long legs.”
"Even if she wears a uniform, she look like a model."
They nodded together, saying, "Right~?”
Hiro-chan has a voice that only I can hear next to me, "The jealousy of kids who are neither thin nor slender...,” turning the pages of her book. The girls' voices can be heard continuously.
Tumblr media
"Luka-chan naturally acts as a coordinator for everyone."
"I'm sure everyone will come together like Ohisama," Hiro-chan frowned at the back of her silver-rimmed glasses. "They’re annoying. In that respect, Suzu is like the opposite of Luka, so it's easy for no one to come near us."
"Hi- Hiro-chan…"
"Hmm?"
"You have a poisonous tongue, I wonder if you can be a little kinder....."
"A poisonous tongue? Who?" At that time, a loud voice that interrupted the performance echoed in the courtyard. "Why don't you join the canoe club?" Everyone looks back. "It's Kamishin!" "Kamishin has arrived!"
Kamishin – full name Shinjiro Senzu - has a canoe paddle in his hand and a banner with "CANOE" written on his back, and appears randomly.
"Oh, senpai. What about the canoe club?"
"Wow! Stop, Kamishin!"
"Don't enter, that's it." He chased the boys, and then laughed and ran away. Then, he turned around and headed for the group of girls.
"Hey, why don't you do canoeing?"
"Kya ~~~!" The girls scream seriously and run away.
"Oh, hey, let's do some canoeing!"
"Dangerous, run away~"
He is serious, but the reaction around him makes the Kamishin look like a weirdo. He’s like a beast that jumps into beautiful women and rampages.
"Hey, canoe ..."
Watching the girls run away, I feel like defending the hard work of Kamishin.
"It's amazing to start a canoe club by yourself, isn't it?"
"But he's the only one in it."
"I wonder why.”
"I wonder~”
Hiro turned her eyes to Luka, who seemed to be anxious about the hustle and bustle while playing. Luka stiffened and turned her back to Kamishin as if she didn't want to see him. Hiro-chan does not overlook the gesture. She closed her book and turned her stern eyes to Luka. “You’re being looked down on.”
We left the gymnasium and wandered around the school. Chorus club, biology club, light music club, dance club. Various club activities. The activity was appealing to each. As I crossed the glass-walled corridor, I heard the cheers and applause of the girls from somewhere.
10N1 was held at the one-on-one outdoor basketball court. It is a solicitation performance of the men's basketball club. A ball is thrown into the court for the next game. You can see a boy in a hoodie who catches it with a lean hand.
"Ah ..." The game starts. Shinobu-kun, full name Shinobu Kutake, slowly dribbles and watches the situation. The opponent's senpai is raising his right hand as a checker, being wary of the jump shot. Shinobu lowers his hips. Shinobu tries to pull out with a low dribble, but the opponent's guard is tight and he withdraws. When he thinks he has stopped Shibobu, he suddenly shoots a jump shot from a short motion.
Tumblr media
He’s fast. The senior hurriedly reached out with his fingers spread out, but he couldn't reach Shinobu. The previous move was a feint. The ball drew a beautiful arc and passed through the goal net. The girls lined up in the corridor on the 3rd floor gave an enthusiastic applause. But Shinobu doesn't even smile. His coolness is attracting attention from girls in school. Before the applause stopped, the court had already moved on to the next game. Shinobu-kun, while measuring the timing, dribbles low to push the defense away. As if to say that you can't win even with power. If you forcibly cut in and pull out the senior in a blink of an eye, you will definitely go to the layup. There is a pleasant sound of the ball slipping through the goal net. Again, the girls' applause echoed on the walls of the school building. I told Hiro-chan,
"........ Shinobu-kun, I didn't think he would be that tall."
He’s my childhood friend.
"He was your childhood friend?"
"Ohon. Actually, I've been proposed to by Shinobu-kun."
"Seriously? What?"
"[Suzu, I'll protect you], he said.”
"When was that?"
"When we were 6 years old."
"....... Even if such an ancient story is spoken…"
Astonished, Hiro sighed. Another goal was scored. In the applause, Shinobu-kun, who finished the game, went out of the court alongside his senior without even smiling. Shinobu-kun, my childhood friend. He’s no longer within my reach.
I came back from school and crossed the subsidence bridge. I was with Shinobu from kindergarten through the lower grades of elementary school. After that, Shinobu moved to the city and we were separated. He was in my high school and we became classmates again. But it isn’t like it used to be. At that time, I didn't expect to become a child who is always looking down like I am now. There is a reason why this happened. I saw the quiet stream of the Niyodo River. Yes. That is an ancient story. A white bird passed low on the surface of the water.

#10: Felix, Part Two: The Episode Itself
Here’s Part 1
Tumblr media
So, uh... here's the thing. I was going to divide this post into three parts, but I had to cancel the third part where I analyze the stuff involving Astruc defending the episode on Twitter, specifically a certain scene that really showed off some serious double standards in regards to the way Adrien is being written, because Astruc deleted most of his tweets regarding the episode. I wonder why he did that? I thought he wanted to expose himself publicly and interact in a peaceful way.
So yeah, instead of a big three-parter, this is going to be a two-parter, and I apologize for that. I might be able to do a third part if anyone has any screenshots of some of the tweets Astruc made after “Felix” aired. If you did, I would really appreciate it, but if not, it's fine.
Either way, let's just get this over with, because I have SO MUCH to talk about. My friend, can your heart stand the shocking facts about Season 3, Episode 23 of Miraculous Ladybug, “Felix”?
So we start off with what Gabriel does for half of his scenes when he isn't Hawkmoth, monologuing to his (possibly) dead wife, Emilie about how Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous will soon be his and all that crap. Sure, he's sent God knows how many Akumas after Ladybug and Cat Noir, and they've all failed miserably, but I'm positive he's getting close to his goal.
After he finishes cleaning his and Emilie's silver wedding rings that sadly don't allow them to transform into Ultraman Ace, Gabriel goes to check on Adrien, singing to a statue of Emilie (glad to see the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree), intending to tell him that he is Hawkmoth.
Gabriel: There is something important I have to talk to you about. I think about telling you every day, but I don't know how to find the right words.
Adrien: I think I already know, father.
Gabriel: But, how?
Adrien: I've noticed how close you and Nathalie have become. If she can make you happy again, then... as far as I'm concerned, she's already part of our family.
youtube
Yeah, apparently it's obvious that Gabriel and Nathalie are close or something, with how casually Adrien assumes they're planning on starting a relationship. I mean, it's not like Nathalie is close to Gabriel because she's his secretary or something like that.
Gabriel's response isn't any better, as he immediately jumps down Adrien's throat for daring to assume he might try to move on from his wife.
Gabriel: How could you possibly think such a thing?! Nobody could ever replace your mother! As long as she is still in our hearts, she lives on!
Even Adrien's face shows he's a little taken back by his father's brief outburst.
Tumblr media
Part of me likes to assume that Plagg is trying to not break out into laughter at how crazy Gabriel sounds, while Nooroo is mentally questioning the sanity of his master.
Plagg: Wow! Your father's like a piece of tomme cheese, where the rind's so thick it's almost impossible to get inside the center.
Adrien: Don't be so hard on him, Plagg. It's been a year today since Mom... went away forever.
Oh my God, just say she DIED already! Why are so many kids' shows afraid to say the D-word? How can I cite an episode of Caillou of all shows as something that that actually talked about death to it's audience in a nuanced way?
It turns out that Adrien's aunt is visiting for the day, as it's the one-year anniversary of Emilie's “going away forever”. We also learn that the gene pool in Adrien's family is so shallow, a toddler could swim in it, because Emilie's sister looks exactly like her.
Tumblr media
Even better, her name is Amelie. I bet the parents thought naming their kids Emilie and Amelie was hilarious for like three minutes.
And of course, she also brought her son, the asshole of the hour.
Tumblr media
Someone cue the Imperial March.
So Felix is finally here, and of course, he looks just like Adrien. It's almost like the animators didn't want to create any new character models for this episode, so they thought nobody would notice if they just reused a few. Seriously, towards the end of the episode, we see Felix wearing the Cat Miraculous on his hand, and none of the animators noticed it.
Tumblr media
So while Adrien is happy to see his cousin, Felix isn't. I'll talk more about it in a minute.
Amelie mentions that the wedding rings are actually heirlooms in her side of the family, so she naturally wants them back. Of course, Gabriel, being Gabriel, responds accordingly.
Gabriel: These rings are obviously very special to me.
Amelie: And they're very dear to me too, Gabriel. Those jewels have always been in the Graham de Vanily family, not the Agreste's.
Gabriel: We'll discuss it later.
“Yeah, yeah, these rings are priceless family heirlooms or whatever, but why can't you think about how important they are to me?”
Meanwhile, Marinette and her friends are planning on recording some messages for Adrien to cheer him up on this day, but Marinette isn't sure what to say before she decides to confess her love to him. I'm sure Adrien will get the message and return Marinette's feelings this episode... and Cliff Hanger will finally escape that cliff he's been hanging from for years.
Speaking of, Adrien and Felix are hanging out in the former's room where we learn that Felix's father passed away recently. We don't know how long, but with the way they talk about, it's clear the funeral wasn't too long ago. Keep this in mind.
So while Adrien leaves the room to get a chess board for the two to play a game of, Felix, for no reason, decides to search through Adrien's things and crush a piece of cheese that Plagg had been aging for two weeks. And here is the interaction that helps this episode go from mediocre to aggravating, just because of what they imply here.
Adrien: Listen, Plagg. Felix lost his dad not so long ago, he's probably not himself.
Plagg: I'm sorry, but there's just no excuse! You never touch my cheese, and yet, you just lost your mother not so long ago, right?
youtube
Yes. The show is actually implying that Adrien is better than Felix because Adrien isn't acting out because his mom “went away forever”. Keep in mind, we know that Felix just lost his father, while Adrien has had a year to cope. I'm not saying he can't be sad anymore, as everyone processes grief differently, but you can't set up Felix as a foil to Adrien just because they both lost a parent, as their situations are entirely different.
Oh, and when Plagg's statement upsets Adrien, it isn't because he's angry at Plagg for making the comparison, it's because he mentions Emilie. And this argument is never brought up again.
I still can't believe this episode is basically saying that even if you lose a loved one, that's no excuse to get emotional. This isn't just a horrible lesson to teach children, but it pisses me off on a more personal level. Why?
My grandfather died last year after a long battle with lung cancer.
He had been in and out of the hospital for a few years at this point, and part of me was relieved that he was finally free of the pain. I tried not to let it bother me, as I had already mentally prepared myself for the day he would die whenever he was readmitted to the hospital. But it was still painful to go through because he was so important to me. Instead of simply telling someone how I was feeling, I threw myself into my schoolwork in an effort to distract myself from actually confronting my emotions. After seeing A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, a movie where the main character made peace with his father on his deathbed with some encouragement from Mr. Rogers, it made me think about how unhealthy it was to bottle up my emotions, so I started to open up more about how I was feeling. When I told my mom (who was his daughter) about why I was so conflicted regarding his death, she said it was completely understandable, as she had been an emotional wreck as well. I also talked with my therapist about how this was affecting me mentally.
What does this have to do with the episode? I don't think Felix had access to this kind of emotional support when his dad died, or that he tried coping the same way I did initially.
And the worst part is that this could have been used to teach people a lesson on how to cope with losing a loved one. Maybe Adrien could have helped Felix find a healthier coping mechanism, or simply help him open up emotionally, teaching him that it's okay to be upset when someone close to you dies, but that you just need to be honest about your feelings.
But no, rather than portray Felix's actions as a troubled youth lashing out because he's angry at the cards the world dealt him, Felix does several awful things this episode for no other reason than because he's evil, even though he has a good reason to hate Adrien and Gabriel.
So the very next scene, we see Felix has stolen Adrien's phone and is going through the messages that Adrien's friends sent him, but not before insulting his crush on Ladybug. I'm not sure if that's supposed to reflect the fandom's criticism of Adrien's crush on Ladybug, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was.
Nino's Message: Hey, my dude! I'm not quite sure what to tell you, except that, you're my man, dude! And bros are always there for their guys!
Felix: (Mockingly) “Bros are always there--” blah, blah, blah! Moron.
Rose's Message: Unicorns have a saying: even when there's nothing but gray skies and rain, all it takes is one little sunbeam for a rainbow to appear!
Felix: Loser.
Max's Message: It's one hundred percent proven, you should feel fifty-two percent happier with a healthy dose of laughter. So Markov has uploaded a few jokes for you! Starting with--
Felix: Freak.
Chloe's Message: When my mother left for New York, I felt so sad. It felt like she was... (sighs) She came back, and I know how lucky I am. So, you can count on me, my Adrikins.
Felix: Chloe. Just as annoying as usual.
And that line right there is the only time Astruc actually liked writing Felix, as it gave him the chance to satisfy his need to insult Chloe.
And then when he sees Marinette's message, he deletes it because... hell if I know
Again, this scene could have worked if it was interpreted as Felix saying stuff that he wasn't dependent on others for support and that he could easily power through life on his own, but nope! Instead, he hates Adrien's friends and only deletes Marinette's message instead of all of them simply because he's evil, heart blacker than Don Cheadle.
Felix continues to show how awful he is by dressing up in Adrien's clothes and—Oh, son of a bitch, SERIOUSLY? This is the SEVENTH evil doppelganger plotline we've had in THREE SEASONS! You're telling me this isn't doing the same thing over and over again, Astruc?
Tumblr media
Yeah, so Felix records some messages to send to his friends that, once again, could have worked if this episode was actually teaching a lesson about dealing with grief.
“Adrien's” Message:  First of all, thanks so much for all your messages, guys, really. Sending me messages on today of all days... (angrily) to remind me how sad I'm supposed to be feeling? Why, that's great! Really, Thanks a lot!
But because nobody ever considers how Felix is feeling, it's never acknowledged, because that would actually involve writing him with complexity.
Gabriel gets a message from Lila, who recently became one of his confidants to spy on Adrien, tells him about the fake message, and decides to use the negative emotions felt as an excuse to get rid of his in-laws. No, seriously.
Gabriel: All this disappointment might just help us get rid of our unwanted guests.
To be fair, I'd probably do the same thing just so I wouldn't have to talk to some of the people I hate at my job.
And so, Hawkmoth akumatizes Alya, Juleka, and Rose into the Punisher's Trio, who are basically just their previously akumatized forms Lady Wifi, Reflekta, and Princess Fragrance. Because why would you expect anyone to use an original character model for this episode?
All joking aside, this development raises several questions. First, why wasn't Nino one of the Punisher's akumatized? He's Adrien's best friend, so shouldn't be just as upset as everyone else? Hell, the whole reason he was akumatized into the Bubbler in Season 1 was just so he could throw Adrien a birthday party after Gabriel said no. Then there's the fact that Chloe could have also been akumatized because she's just as close as Adrien, which is another wasted opportunity here.
Second, why bring back Reflekta and Princess Fragrance of all villains? It doesn't even make sense when you consider their motifs are based off of the circumstances that led to them getting akumatized in their respective episodes. Juleka became Reflekta because of her anxiety over easily blending in, so she got the power to turn everyone into an exact copy of herself so they could understand the feeling. Rose became Princess Fragrance when Chloe destroyed her letter and perfume bottle dedicated to the prince of a foreign nation, so the perfume bottle was the basis of her powers. At least Lady Wifi makes sense as the akumatized object this episode is a tablet used to record the messages to Adrien, but Reflekta and Princess Fragrance have nothing to do with the plot of this episode, and just feel tacked on. If it was just Lady Wifi or the Bubbler, I'd get it, but this just doesn't work.
Third, what exactly is this show's obsession with Reflekta? We saw in Reflekta's first episode that her powers had a huge drawback as if either of the heroes is zapped by her, she can't get their Miraculous, like what we saw happened to Cat Noir. Yet, this is the second time this season that Hawkmoth had the bright idea to bring back Reflekta (even giving her a giant robot to amplify her powers). At least Lady Wifi and Princess Fragrance's powers worked together well (Lady Wifi could freeze someone in place, while Princess Fragrance can brainwash them with her perfume), but Reflekta just feels like the odd one out here.
Fourth, and most importantly, why did we only get to hear the line “At your service, Princess Fragrance!” A single time this episode?
So the Punishers head to Adrien's house to take their revenge, but see Felix, still dressed in Adrien's clothes, and are naturally confused. Adrien pretends to be Felix by running away while laughing evilly (so not too far off from how Astruc sees Felix), while the real Felix and Nathalie put up a good fight against the Punishers.
And then... here is the moment that shows just how skewed Astruc's view of Adrien really is.
Felix pretends to confess his love to Ladybug as Adrien, trying to force a kiss on him, making Ladybug punch him in the face by claiming that the real Adrien “would never be so pushy”.
youtube
BULL. SHIT.
Yes, Ladybug doesn't know that Adrien is actually Cat Noir, but it's clear that this scene is meant to solidify just how Felix is far worse than Adrien because according to Astruc, he would never do that.
But maybe I'm being too hard on him.
Tumblr media
It's not like Adrien has ever forced himself onto Ladybug, right?
Tumblr media
I mean, imagine if the show just ignored something like that.
Tumblr media
All while trying to teach kids the importance of saying no when someone harasses them.
Tumblr media
Can you imagine if someone was that oblivious to their own hypocrisy?
Tumblr media
I'm not saying that the lesson is a bad one, but you can't call someone out for doing something bad, and then ignore one of your main characters doing the exact same thing!
Even in the context of the episode, the comparison doesn't work. We know that Felix is only doing this to make Adrien look bad, and has no romantic feelings towards Ladybug like Adrien does. Felix knows what he is doing is wrong, while Adrien doesn't. Whenever Cat Noir tries to kiss Ladybug, he is never aware that what he is doing is wrong, and while he is almost always stopped from kissing Ladybug for one reason or another.
Like when the episode tried to compare two different characters reacting to losing loved ones when there are different circumstances regarding them, the comparison DOESN'T WORK.
And to add insult to injury, Cat Noir shows up just to insult Felix by implying he doesn't have a lot of friends because of the way he acts, because why would he? After all, he's a complete loser that nobody would want to be friends with, and if you like him, you're an idiot for thinking so! At least, that's probably what Astruc was going for.
Ladybug summons her Lucky Charm, leading to a brief Mexican standoff, until Felix steals the tablet containing the Akuma, making a deal with Hawkmoth that he'll help out the Punishers as long as he gets the wedding rings. Do you hate Felix yet? Come on, do you hate him? WHY WON'T YOU HATE HIM, GODDAMN IT!?
This whole bit is completely pointless as Ladybug immediately finds a way to stop all four of them and de-evilize the Akuma.
And when it looks like Felix is actually apologizing for his actions this episode, it's naturally a ruse he put on to steal one of the wedding rings from Gabriel to give to his mom. Because why would Astruc even think of portraying him sympathetically, or at least have him learn a lesson?
So Felix stares out the window with an evil look in his eye (possibly foreshadowing another appearance), as Gabriel takes Emilie's wedding ring to wear for himself, and the episode mercifully ends.
It also means that I never have to watch this episode ever again.
Do you understand why it took so long for me to fully analyze this episode? Hell, it would have taken longer if Astruc didn't delete his tweets defending the kiss scene and how Cat Noir is totally a gentlemen unlike Satan, I mean Felix.
What else do I have to say about this episode that hasn’t already been said? Well, I do have one thing.
I’m not that big a fan of Felix.
I think he’s an okay character in fanfics, but I’m more indifferent to him and fanfics that ship him and Marinette together. I don’t know, maybe that’s because there are so many Felinette fanfics that are heavily seasoned with salt, or it could just be because I’m complete Love Square and Lukanette trash.
But just think about the fact that the scathing criticism of this episode was delivered by someone who isn’t that into Felix. That is how bad this episode is.
In addition to being an obvious mouthpiece for Astruc to yell at fans why they’re idiots for actually liking Felix, it does so by touching on delicate subject and trying to act like it’s easy to tell how Felix is worse than Adrien when the circumstances are nothing alike.
But the fact that Astruc takes a popular character just to portray him as a complete menace just to antagonize his fans is ridiculous, utterly ridiculous.

The Forman Kitchen
Point Place, Wisconsin
The morning at the breakfast table, things still hadn’t changed between the three teenagers, but they were at least able to be around each other without fists flying, so y/n took that as a plus. Y/n could barley eat though. She had woken up feeling sick to her stomach; the thought of food repulsing her. She nibbled on her toast and couldn’t even sip on her orange juice without wanting to vomit.
“Y/n, are you okay?” Kitty asked concerned. “You’ve barley touched your breakfast.”
Y/n groaned. “Just feeling a little sick is all.”
Kitty hummed and pressed the back of her hand to y/n’s forehead. “You don’t feel warm. Maybe it was something you ate.”
Y/n groaned again and put her head down. “Maybe.”
 “Hey Dad, can you pass the bacon?” Eric asked, stretching arm out.
Y/n gagged and groaned. “Please don’t say bacon.”
 Eric smirked and grabbed a piece, biting into it. “Mhmmmm…bacόn.”
 “Please stop,” she grumbled, her stomach churning.
“It’s so juicy and chewy and the fat at the end is the best part,” Eric continued, laughing.
“Oh, God! Did you have to say that?!” she screeched as she made haste to the nearest bathroom. She could feel the contents of her stomach rising before she made it to the bathroom.
“Did you really have to do that?” Kitty asked, disappointed.
“Yes,” Eric responded. “Yes, I did.”
Kitty shook her head in disapproval and brought her fork of food to her mouth.
Red glared at his son before returning his attention to the newspaper.
“What?!” Eric asked. “She started it!”
“Oh, boo hoo, she broke your dolls,” Red mocked.
 “G.I Joes,” Eric corrected.
 “Whatever,” his father answered. “Whatever she did isn’t worth making her throw up over.”
Yes, it is, Eric thought.
Y/n returned to the kitchen, her skin ashen and her eyes sunken. “I think I’m going to go back to bed so I don’t barf all over the table.”
“Well, okay honey,” Kitty said getting up and taking her plate to the sink. “I’ll bring you some soup later, okay?”
Y/n shook her head, making a face of disgust. “Please, Mom. I can’t even think about food right now.”
 “Well, you have to get some food in you,” Kitty responded. “Otherwise you’ll get even more sick.”
Y/n nodded. “Okay. I just really want to go back to bed.”
“Okay sweetie,” Kitty responded, rubbing her daughter’s shoulder. “We’ll see you later.”
Y/n nodded and stole a glance at Hyde before she made her way upstairs.
“Eric, I need you to mow the lawn later,” Red demanded as he finished his breakfast.
“What? Why can’t Hyde do it?”
“Because unlike your sorry ass, I actually have work,” Hyde replied.
 Eric glared at him before turning back to Red. “Why do I always have to do it?”
 “Because I said so!” Red barked.
                                                   --Time Skip—
 “So, you think you got food poisoning, huh?” Donna asked that night over the phone.
Y/n nodded before she realized she was talking over the phone. “Yeah, I do. Every time I move, my body screams at me. My back is hurting so much. And my stupid cramps aren’t helping any either.”
 “Have you been throwing up that much?”
“Yeah,” Y/n replied, wiping her sweaty and oily hair out of her face. “I think I pulled a muscle in my back or something because of it. Even my boobs hurt.”
  “Nausea, back aches, and tender breasts,” Donna counted off. “Hey, you may be pregnant.” Donna chuckled at her own joke.
 “Ha ha,” Y/n chortled. “You’re funny. Definitely not pregnant.”
 “Yeah? And how do you know?”
“Because I’m supposed to be getting my period in a few days. These could be symptoms of PMS. Or maybe both.”
“Supposed to,” Donna pushed, putting emphasis on her words.
“Shut up,” Elena laughed. “Stop saying that. I’m not pregnant. Eric would throw himself off a cliff if that happened. Or Hyde. Or Eric would push Hyde off a cliff. One of the three.”
  Donna chuckled. “But seriously, are you alright?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. Just can’t do much for a couple of days.”
“Okay, well if you need anything, you know where to find me.”
“Thanks Donna,” Y/n said. “I’m going to go to sleep. I’ll talk to you later.”            “Alright, rest easy. Talk to you later.”
Y/n hung up the phone before turning back around and falling back asleep, feeling her stomach churning. Pregnant.
The word echoed in her head as sleep quickly enveloped her.                                                                             --Time Skip—
 “Guys!” Kelso called as he barged through the door in the basement. “The Omen is on TV right now!” He hurriedly made his way over to the television set, switching on the movie.
 “Kelso, what the hell, man? We were watching that!” Hyde piped up.            “C’mon, it’s Halloween season!” Kelso argued. “Tis the season to be jolly!”
“That’s Christmas, moron,” Jackie said from behind him.
 “Well, whatever! I think we should get in the spirit.”
The gang groaned as they leaned back into their seats.
 “Hey, where’s y/n?” Hyde asked.
“Oh, she’s upstairs sleeping,” Donna answered nonchalantly.
“Still? It’s six o’ clock,” he responded. “She’s been upstairs since this morning.”
“Well, food poisoning is a real bitch,” she replied. “And so is PMS.”
 “Alright, TMI,” Eric said and got up to turn up the volume on the TV.
“Oh, Eric, don’t be such a prude,” Fez said. “It’s completely natural. In my culture, we honor women whenever they go through their monthly ordeal. It’s kind of a big deal. We thank the gods and celebrate their womanhood. Then, we bring them flowers and chocolates and some candy too. Or whatever else they’re craving. They get a week off and can stay at home in bed while their husbands, brothers, fathers, or sons take care of everything.”
“Wow…can I join your culture?” Donna asked.
  Fez chuckled. “Sure, if you feel like eating bugs for breakfast.”
Donna grimaced. “Never mind.” She turned to Eric. “Why don’t you do that for me?”
“Because a woman shouldn’t bleed for seven days straight and still live,” he deadpanned.
 “Yeah, I don’t trust anything that can bleed for that long and not die,” Kelso said.
Hyde looked at him amused. “You can’t even be with a woman for seven days straight, let alone be there for her during her monthly problem.”
 “Not true! I was with Jackie for three years!”
 “And you cheated on me at least once a month!” Jackie responded. “Hey…wait a minute!”
 “You guys, women are sacred. They need to be honored and cherished during this time because the pain they go through, we will never understand,” Fez said gently.
 “We don’t understand?” Hyde said. “Have you ever been kicked in the nads?”
“Okay, sure, but imagine getting kicked in the nads for at least 3 days straight,” Donna responded.
“Oh, God!” Eric said, squirming in his seat. “I can’t even imagine that!”
“Well, sometimes, it’s even more painful,” Jackie added.
“What does it feel like?” Kelso asked, staring at her.
“Well, it can feel like someone is taking a knife to your pelvis and slowly twisting it,” Jackie responded causing all the men in the room to squirm, except for Fez.
“Fez, man, how are you not effected by this?” Kelso asked.
“I grew up with five sisters,” he responded, shrugging. “Nothing I’m not used to.”
“Are you guys seriously talking about periods?” Y/n asked as she slowly made her way down the stairs.
“Hey, you’re up,” Donna stated. “How are you feeling?”
“Pretty lousy,” Y/n said. “But I’d rather be miserable with company than go through it alone.” She plopped down on the couch next to where Hyde was sitting.
“Are you going through your…girl problem?” Kelso asked nervously.
“What? No,” Y/n replied. “I mean, I could be, but it could also be food poisoning.”
 “Well, what did you eat?” Hyde asked.
“Nothing out of the ordinary and nothing that you guys didn’t eat,” she replied.
 “Must be the PMS thing then,” Donna said, laughing when Eric shifted uncomfortably in his seat.
 “Can we please stop talking about my sister’s cycle? It’s giving me a very vivid image that I’d rather not have.”
“Y/n, do you need anything?” Fez asked sweetly. “Chocolate? Water? A hot water bottle?”
Y/n smiled at him. “Why, yes, Fez. That would be lovely.”
 “Okay, I’ll be right back!” Fez beamed and hopped out the chair to run out the door.
 “Hey, man, why are you taking care of my chick?” Hyde asked, stopping Fez at the door. “That’s my job.”
 “Then why aren’t you doing it?” Fez shot back.
Y/n’s mouth fell open in a laugh as she covered it with her hand. Donna and Jackie tightened their lips to keep themselves for laughing.
“’Cause she didn’t ask,” he responded.
“She shouldn’t have to,” Fez said calmly. “You should just do it for her. That’s how you keep your woman happy.”
“Then why couldn’t you keep Jackie happy?” Hyde quipped.
Y/n gasped. “Steven!”
“No, no it’s okay,” Fez said, oddly calm. “You know, Hyde, normally that would bother me, but not today because I’m not the one having another man making my woman happy.”
Hyde grabbed the nearest object—a magazine—and threw it at Fez, but before it could hit him, he slammed the door shut; the magazine hitting the door with a thud.
 “He’s right, you know,” Y/n responded with a smile.
“Do you really feel that way?” Hyde asked her.
Y/n shrugged. “Not really. It would be nice though.”
“I see,” Hyde said and stood from his chair, stalking his way to his room.
 “Steven, wait!” she called after him. “I wasn’t being serious!”
He flapped a hand at her without turning to look at her and slammed his door.
“Wow,” Jackie said, puffing out her cheeks. “That escaladed quickly.”
Y/n shrunk down in her seat, feeling guilty. “What else is new with this group?”
 “This is great!” Eric beamed, causing everyone to stare at him in confusion. “Now Hyde is mad at you too! Not just me.”
 Y/n groaned and stood up slowly. “You’re an immature dillhole. I’m going back to bed.”
 “What should I tell Fez when he gets back?” Donna asked.
 “That I’m upstairs and he can come up.”
 “I don’t think Hyde will like that very much,” Kelso mentioned.
“Who cares?” Eric griped.
 “Look, I’ll deal with Hyde later,” Y/n responded, ignoring her twin. “Right now, I just want to feel better.” She trudged up the stairs, leaving the group alone.
 “What a mess,” Donna said.
  “Tell me about it,” Jackie responded. “Eric, are you still mad at them?”
 “Of course, I am!” he responded, surprised that Jackie would ask him such a question. “How can I not be?”
 “Well, you can try not being mad,” Jackie suggested sarcastically.
 “Eric, give it a rest, yeah?” Donna said. “It’s been over a week.”
 Eric growled and leaned back in his seat.
 “He was supposed to be moved out by now,” he mumbled.
 “Shut. Up. Please,” Donna snapped. “He literally has nowhere to go. You have to be a real prick to throw him out on the streets. It’s not like he murdered your sister.”
“You just don’t get it, Donna!” he whined. The whole group groaned.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah we don’t get it because it’s not our sister and we would be pissed too if Hyde was nailing her, blah blah blah. Seriously, Eric, I’m sure I speak for all of us when I say we’re sick of hearing about it,” Kelso said, irritated. He just wanted to watch the movie. Why wasn’t anybody respecting that?
Eric furrowed his brows at his friends. “You guys really feel this way?”
“YES!” Jackie, Donna, and Kelso said in unison.
 “Oh. Well, then, fine,” Eric grumbled and stood up.
 “Where are you going?” Donna asked.
 “Since you guys are tired of hearing about it, I’m going to go somewhere else.”
 “Oh my God, you are such a drama queen,” Donna groaned. “Just sit back down and watch the movie with us.”
“Nah, I’m good. See you guys later.” With that, he grabbed his coat and shut the door, leaving the three teenagers left to watch the movie.
“He’s gotten more annoying than usual,” Jackie commented.
“You know, Jackie, normally I would be offended by that, but this time I have to agree with you,” Donna responded.
“Well, now we can watch the movie,” Kelso said.
The three sat in silence on the couch until Kelso tried to sneak his hand up Donna’s leg.
 “Kelso!” Donna screeched as she slapped his hand away.
 “Damn, Donna! I was just looking for the remote!”
 “The remote is on the table, you idiot,” Jackie pointed out.
 Kelso looked between the two girls with a hurt look. “Women are mean!” He stomped out the basement, forgetting the movie.
The girls looked at each other and shrugged, returning their attention to the TV before Donna got up to change it back to the channel they were watching.
                                                 --Time Skip—
Y/n stared down at the home pregnancy test, shock filling her. Positive. The test was freaking positive. She was going to be a mother. Oh God, how would everyone else react? What kind of mother was she going to be?
 “Oh, Y/n, how could you?” Kitty asked from behind her, hurt playing on her face.
“Wait, Mom--!” Y/n tried to call after her mother before Red showed up at her side.
 “How could you be such a disgrace to the family?!” Red shouted, his face turning pink. Kitty turned to her husband’s side and started sobbing. “Look what you’re doing to your mother!”
“No, but Daddy—” Y/n said, tears welling in her eyes.
“Wow, you’re such a whore!” Eric laughed as he suddenly appeared by their parents’ side. “And here I thought Laurie would be the one to get knocked up from some rando.”
“What?” she asked her twin, tears cascading down her pale cheeks.
“Wow, little sister, you certainly top me,” Laurie said, smirking.
“Laurie?” Y/n questioned.
 “I’m leaving you,” Steven said coldly, appearing in front of her. “You were just a fling. You knew this from the start. I can’t have a baby with a loser.”
 “You said you loved me!” Y/n screamed.
  “I lied,” Steven said and smirked. “I only strung you along so that I could nail you. Now, look at you. You’re fat and alone.”
Y/n looked down and saw that her stomach had enlarged. “What?” she whispered.
 “We can’t have you in the family,” Kitty suddenly said. “We can’t have a whore in the family.”
“You have Laurie!”
 “At least she didn’t get pregnant!” her mother shot back. “You and your mistake can get out of our house, out of our lives. You’re no longer welcome!”
“No, Mom! Please, I need you. I need Daddy and Steven, please. I can’t do this alone. I need you more than ever.”
 She went to grab his hands, but he jerked away from her. “Well, you’re gonna have to do it alone.”
Tears cascaded down her face as she tried to blink them away, but as quickly as they appeared, they disappeared. Suddenly, Y/n found herself sitting alone in a total darkness, a single light shining above her.
 “No,” she whimpered, looking around. “No. No. NO!”
Y/n jerked awake, sweat coating her forehead. Her breathing was slightly heavy as she glanced at the clock. 2:08AM. She sighed and fell back onto her pillow, fingers threading through her sweaty and knotted hair. She couldn’t believe she’d been asleep for eight hours.
Her room suddenly flooded with light as Kitty, dressed in her pink robe, hair a rat’s nest, stood in her cracked door. “Y/n, honey, are you alright? I heard you yelling.”
 “Yeah, yeah, I’m fine,” Y/n replied. “Just had a nightmare.”
“Oh, honey, it’s okay,” Kitty replied and moved closer to adjust herself on the bed. “You know, when you were little, you would get nightmares all the time. And the only thing that would soothe you and get you to go back to sleep is when I would gently caress your hair until you fell back asleep.”
Y/n smiled softly. “Too bad I’m older now, huh?”
“Oh, nonsense,” Kitty said and leaned over, caressing her hair back. “You’re never too old for your mother’s love.”
Y/n smiled and turned on her side, facing Kitty.
“You wanna talk about it?” she asked her daughter after a moment of silence.
Y/n thought about it for a minute. She actually wanted to talk to her about it, but she knew if she did, she could open up something that she really didn’t want to. Even if it were just a dream, Kitty would know that it was something much deeper than that.
“No,” she responded after a beat. “I’m okay. Thank you, though.”
  “Of course sweetheart,” Kitty cooed. She continued to smooth Y/n’s hair, effectively calming her down. Fifteen years later and it still works.
 Y/n could already feel sleep overcoming her again. “Thank you, Mommy,” she mumbled as her eyelids grew heavier.
“You’re absolutely welcome,” Kitty responded and leaned over to kiss her forehead. “I love you.”
 “I love you too,” Y/n whispered before falling asleep once more.
                                                 ⧝⧝⧝
Y/n woke up the next day, just as horrible as the day before. She dragged herself out of bed and trudged downstairs to see her family eating lunch.
“Morning Sunshine,” Kitty cheerfully greeted her. “You must be really sick to sleep in till noon.”
Y/n grunted back and grabbed some orange juice and sat down. The smell of their lunch making her nose curl, repulsing her.
 “How’re you feeling, kitten?” Red asked.
“I’m okay,” Y/n responded. “Could be better. Still feel kinda nauseas and tired.”
“You want some dry toast?” Kitty asked. “You haven’t eaten much.”
Y/n nodded tiredly and put her head on the table. “I’d love some actually.”
Kitty smiled and got up, popping bread in the toaster. “Oh, your foreign friend dropped off some stuff for you. I left it here on the counter.”
“Hm?” Y/n hummed, looking at Kitty.
“He said something to do with your menstrual cycle, so he dropped off a hot water bottle, some midol, and a box of chocolate.”
 “Oh, come on, Kitty, not while we’re eating!” Red exclaimed, disgusted.
 The whole time, Eric and Steven had been quiet. Steven glared at the gifts through his aviators. Eric rolled his eyes and continued to eat his lunch.
“What a sweet boy!” Kitty laughed. “You know, I don’t think I’d mind if you ended up with him.”
Y/n smiled as Kitty set a plate of two slices of dry toast in front of her.
 “I’m going to make you some tea as well. You gotta get some liquids in you,” Kitty stated.
 “Kitty, don’t put ideas in her head!” Red said, throwing down the paper he was reading.
 “What do you mean by that?” Y/n asked, offended. “Is it because of his skin color?”
“What?” Red asked, scrunching up his face. “God, no! I don’t want you dating anybody. You’re too young.”
 “Dad, I’m eighteen,” Y/n deadpanned as she nibbled at her toast. “Eric and Donna have been dating since they were, like, eight.”
“No, we haven’t,” Eric argued.
 “Shut up, yes you have,” Y/n said.
“Eric’s different,” Red continued. “Eric is a man, or as close of a man as he can get. Besides, Donna is the best he’s ever going to do.” He started laughing, but he was the only one who found that funny.
 “Thanks Dad,” Eric deadpanned.
“Red Forman!” Kitty exclaimed.
“What? It’s funny!” Kitty gave him a hard look making him shut up. “Fine, it’s not.”
Y/n managed a small smile before bringing a piece of toast to her lips. “Don’t worry, Dad. I’m not even seeing anyone.”
Eric stopped mid-bite to give side eye to his twin sister. Y/n returned a hard, cold stare to her brother as if to say don’t you freaking dare.
 “So, Fez gave you those huh?” Steven asked.
“Yeah, I guess,” Y/n replied. “That was really nice of him.”
 “Yeah, real nice,” he responded slowly.
“It was,” Y/n replied, staring at her boyfriend in suspicion. “You got something to say?”
 “No, why would I?” he responded. “Why would I have anything to say that my best friend is flirting with my…other best friend?”
Kitty stood at the stove as she waited for the tea to heat up and squinted her eyes at Steven before looking to her husband who was giving him the same look.
 “What’s your deal, Hyde?” Y/n asked him, growing annoyed with him.
“Oh, nothing,” he responded. “I’m just saying that he’s never done this for another girl before unless it was Jackie.”
“Steven, what’re you getting at?” Red asked him.
“Oh, I don’t know. Why don’t you tell me, Y/n?” Hyde said, staring coldly at her.
 Y/n returned the glare. “If you’re insinuating that Fez likes me, you are terribly, terribly wrong.”
“Then why would he do it for you?” he asked impatiently.
 “I don’t know!” Y/n responded, flabbergasted. “Because he wants to be nice?”
“Nice, ha!” Steven hollered, causing everyone to look at him in surprise. “Guys don’t do things just to be nice.”
Y/n gave him a look. “Why do you care so much what he does?”
 “Yeah, Hyde. Why do you care?” Eric asked with a smirk.
Steven realized what he was doing and looked at everyone who was looking at him with furrowed brows. He straightened his posture and looked down at his lunch, clearing his throat. “I don’t. I just find it rather odd.”
“And if Fez does like me, what’s it to ya?” Y/n asked, cocking her head to the side.
 “It doesn’t,” Hyde replied coldly, taking a sip from his iced tea.
Y/n lifted an eyebrow at him before finishing off her toast.
“Is there something going on between you two?” Red asked.
The couple stole a glance at each other before looking to Red.
 “No, not at all,” Y/n replied casually.
 “Why would there be?” Steven asked.
“I don’t know. You’re acting weird,” Red commented. “Stop it.”
Steven grinned at him. “Yes, sir.”
 “Here’s your tea, sweetheart,” Kitty said, bringing over a mug of tea. “And I put in some honey, Honey.” She laughed at her own joke.
Y/n chuckled softly. “Thanks, Mom.”
 “Oh, by the way, Sasha called for you yesterday,” Kitty said, sitting back down.
Y/n perked up. “She did? Why?”
  “I’m not too sure. She wanted to talk to you about something, but I told her you weren’t feeling well. So, I took down her number and told her you’d give her a call back when you feel better.”
 “Yeah, I’ll call her back once I can stop vomiting.”
“And yet, you’ve been able to achieve that this whole time,” Eric said sarcastically. “Must feel nice to finally be able to achieve something for once. Congrats, sis.”
Y/n glared at him. “If I could control it, I’d do it on you right now.”
“Okay, that’s enough,” Kitty cut in. “Finish your lunches.”
“I can’t. I’m going downstairs to watch TV,” Y/n whimpered.
 “Okay. Don’t forget your tea!” Kitty called out.
Y/n turned back around and grabbed the warm mug between her cold hands and made her way downstairs. On her way, she grabbed the midol and the hot water bottle.
At this point, Steven was seething as he watched his girlfriend take Fez’s gifts.
 “Alright, well, I’m heading out for a few,” Steven announced, quickly getting up. “Thanks for the lunch, Mrs. Forman.”
 “Oh, you’re welcome, dear,” she responded.
 “Wanna come?” Hyde asked Eric.
Eric looked up at him. “What for?”
 “Just come on,” Hyde pushed and grabbed Eric by the shirt, tugging him out the door.
 “But I’m not finished!” Eric whined.
 “You are now,” Hyde said before closing the sliding door.
“What’s with them?” Red asked.
 “I have no clue,” Kitty responded, not caring. “They’re always up to something.”
Outside, Eric shoved himself out of Hyde’s grasp. “What the hell, man?”
“Get in the car,” Hyde ordered, unlocking the El Camino.
“What? No,” Eric said, standing in his place.
 “Get in. We have to talk.”
 Eric crossed his arms. “I have nothing to say to you.”
 “Great. Then you can just listen,” Hyde responded standing in front of the driver’s side door, waiting for Eric to get in. His arm rested on top of the car casually as if not a care in the world. “You going to get in?”
“Why should I?”
 Hyde groaned. “Just get in the car, man!”
“Are you kidnapping me?” Eric asked as he slowly made his way to the passenger’s side.
“Of course not.”
“You gonna take me to the middle of nowhere, take my clothes after you convince met to skinny dip in the lake, and abandon me while I walk around naked and afraid like last time?”
Hyde rolled his eyes. “I came back for you, didn’t I?”
 “Three hours later!”
 “For the love of God, just shut up and get in the car!”
 “It was so cold,” Eric whimpered as he slid in the front seat and shut the door. “Where are we going?”
 “For a drive,” Hyde responded and backed out the driveway. Once they were on the road, Hyde broke the silence. “Listen, man. This whole thing between you, me, and Y/n has gotten way out of hand.”
“You don’t have to tell me.”
“What happened to you shuttin’ up and letting me talk?”
 Eric sighed, making a face. “Fine.”
 “Look,” Hyde began. “I know you’re pissed off at us for dating and going behind your back—”
 “And lying.”
 “…Yeah, and lying about it. But I need you to know that everything I said is true. Y/n is the best thing that’s ever happened to me and when I say that I will do whatever I can to make her happy, I mean it. And this whole ending a friendship over it is stupid.”
 Eric stared at Hyde in disbelief. “You’re serious about this? About my sister?”
“Yeah, man. That’s why I’m here talking to you,” he responded and turned onto the main road. “I know we could’ve gone around it differently, but come on man, what would you have done? You’ve been saying that we need to put ourselves in your shoes, well put yourself in our shoes. Imagine if Donna was my sister, but you really liked her. What would you have done?”
 Eric was silent for a minute. “Well, we probably wouldn’t be friends considering you kissed her and tried to get with her.”
Hyde gave an exasperated sigh. “Man, will you focus?”
 Eric thought about it for a second. “I guess I can understand that.”
 “And I want you to know that I won’t disappoint her. I will take care of her and make sure she gets everything she wants and needs. I’m not going to be like the rest of my family and be a deadbeat and end up in prison. I will do good for her.”
Eric turned his gaze to him and suddenly felt an anchor of guilt settle in the pit of his stomach. “Oh, man. Look, Hyde when I said that…I didn’t mean it. I was angry and—”
 “It’s fine,” Hyde said, cutting in.
“No, no it’s not,” Eric turned to face him. “It was wrong of me to say that to you. It’s just that…she’s my sister, man. My twin, you know? My favorite sister. I can’t help but feel, you know, maybe a little overprotective of her.”
“No, but you were right,” Hyde confessed and turned onto the highway. “I probably was headed down that path anyway. But being with her has actually made me want to be better.”
Eric looked at Hyde like he had two heads. “You look like my friend, but you don’t sound like him. Where’s Hyde?!”
 Hyde chuckled and turned off the highway, noticing Eric calling him his friend. “I know. It’s sickening.”
Eric laughed and turned back around, facing the front. He noticed they were entering downtown. “Hyde…where are we going? This isn’t just a drive anymore.”
“You’ll see in a minute,” he said and continued down a narrow road before stopping in front of a super store. He turned the car off and sat back quietly. “Just so you know, this wasn’t easy for me to talk about it. So, if you tell anyone, I’ll deny the whole thing.”
Eric nodded and looked at Hyde seriously. “I’m still not happy about it, but I guess I don’t have a choice but to accept it. You two really do seem happy.”
Hyde nodded and looked down. “We are, man.”
“Just…don’t hurt her,” Eric said. “Then I’d have to kick your ass and then I’d end up getting my ass kicked and then Red will kick my ass for getting my ass kicked and then he’d hunt you down like a dog and then he’d kick your ass.”
Hyde sat there in stunned silence. “Wow…that’s…detailed. How long have you been sitting on this?”
“Pretty much since I found out.”
 “Wow.”
 “Yeah,” Eric replied. “Also, one more thing. I don’t wanna hear or see you and my sister doing anything. The image of you two doing anything makes me want to hurl.”
  “Deal,” Hyde chucked. “So, are we good?”
  Eric looked at him for a moment and grinned. “Yeah, man, we’re good.”
Hyde nodded and the two boys lifted their hands, bringing each other in for bro-hug.
 “Can I just ask you one question, though?” he asked.
Hyde hummed.
 “Why her? Why Y/n?”
Hyde sighed, shaking his head. “I don’t know, man. She’s different. She’s smart and actually funny, interesting, and genuine. Really sweet and cares about others beside herself. Besides, she’s smoking hot.”
“Well, I’d never thought I’d hear my best friend put my sister and ‘smoking hot’ in the same sentence,” Eric retorted and pretended to gag. “Really, really unpleasant.”
 “I know. I just said that because I think it’s funny,” Hyde laughed.
  Eric slugged him in the shoulder. “And every time you say stuff like that, you’ll get hit.”
They laughed lightly together before Eric slapped a hand on Hyde’s shoulder. “And, uh, don’t worry about my parents. Your secret is safe with me.”
“Thanks, man,” Hyde replied. “Well, let’s go inside.”
 “Why are we at this one?” Eric asked, joining Hyde outside the car. “You know there’s like three different stores in town. Why this one?”
 “Because this is the biggest one in Point Place and they have everything I want.”
 “Which is?”
 “You’ll see.”
As they entered the store, Hyde went for the first thing he saw: flowers. Specifically, half a dozen red roses. Then he went towards the freezer section, grabbing a pint of her favorite ice cream: mint chocolate chip.
 “Ice cream?” Eric questioned.
“I heard chicks really dig ice cream during their…problem time.”
 “Yeah, Donna eats like four of those.”
 “Damn,” Hyde sighed. “I’m, uh, I’m not very good at this. All I know is I want Y/n to feel better and I was kind of a jerk earlier.”
 “Yeah, about that,” Eric piped up, browsing the ice cream flavors. “Why were reacting that way?” Eric’s eyes grew a fraction wider. “You were jealous, weren’t you?”
 “What? No. I don’t get jealous.”
“You so did!” Eric laughed. “You hated that Fez bought all that stuff for her because you felt like a bad boyfriend for not thinking about it earlier!”
“You wanna get your ass kicked this early in the day?” Hyde threatened.
Eric continued to laugh at him. “Just admit it. You totally did.”
  Hyde rolled his eyes as he found his way to the soft drink section and grabbed a few bottles of ginger ale. “Okay, fine, maybe a little. But he shouldn’t have been hitting on her. She’s my chick. I should be the one getting all the stuff she needs.”
 “And that’s what you’re doing now,” Eric stated, looking around. “Is that why you brought me here? To help you find stuff that she would like?”
“No,” Hyde answered as they entered another aisle. He found a tin box of saltines and bent down to grab them. “I know what she likes; I don’t need you for that. I mainly brought you here so that we could sort crap out.” He picked up a box of assorted chocolates, something he knew she’d like.
“You trying to tell me something?” Eric smirked, causing Hyde to chuckle. “Don’t you think you maybe going a little overboard?” He asked when he noticed Hyde putting everything in the basket.
 “Maybe,” he answered honestly and led Eric away from the grocery section. “I just want her to know that I care.”
“Well, she’ll definitely get that message,” the twin responded and noticed where Hyde was leading them. “Seriously? Condoms?”
 “You don’t want me to knock her up, do you?”
 “I’m still trying to accept you two and by you doing this in front of me is really bumming me out.”
 Hyde laughed cruelly. “That’s kind of funny.” He quickly grabbed a pack and threw it in the cart. “Just don’t look at ‘em.”
 Eric sighed and looked away. “What else are you giving her?”
 “Besides a good time?”
 Eric dramatically screeched and squirmed. “Please. Stop. Saying. That.”
 Hyde burst into laughter, laughing at his friend’s discomfort. “That will never get old.”
  “You’re a sadistic son of a bitch, you know that?”
                                                   —Time Skip—
Y/n laid on the couch in the basement, wrapped up in a blanket, mindlessly watching tv. She was in and out of consciousness for the good part of the afternoon. Even though she was sick, she was still upset about her little dispute with Hyde.
When did he become so jealous? Why would he think that of Fez? And worse of all, why didn’t he trust her enough? It hurt, but she was more curious as of why. She could feel her stomach beginning to churn again as it was ready to bring back up what she brought down earlier.
Please, God, no. She quickly sat up, the room spinning for a minute, before she ran back to the bathroom and found herself with her head in the toilet. This had to be the forty-fifth time in the last couple of days of her spending time kneeling in front of the toilet, emptying the contents of her stomach into the light green basin.
She held her hair back as tears pricked the corner of her eyes. It hurt so much and all she wanted in that moment was just to stop. What in the hell did she catch that made her feel this violently ill? After she was sure she was done, except from the dry heaving, she wiped her mouth and flushed the toilet. She sat against it for a little while longer, wishing her stomach would calm down enough for her to get a good sleep in. She couldn’t help but let a few tears escape. Her back was hurting, her body was aching, and her throat was burning. And on top of all that, she started cramping earlier in the day and the pain hadn’t subsided.
“Y/n?” she heard from the basement living room.
 She groaned in response and heard footsteps approach the door to the tiny bathroom. She twisted her face in pain as another surge of nausea reared its ugly head. Hyde appeared in the doorway just as he saw her turn her pale and tortured face into the basin once again. He could hear her whimpers through each retched gag.
 “Awe, Doll,” he cooed and knelt down beside her, rubbing her back. He gathered her long hair in his hands and tried to look anywhere besides the toilet. He gently shushed her and reassured her that he was there now for her.
Once she was finished, she fumbled for the handle, and pulled down. Hyde handed her some tissues to wipe her mouth. She gratefully accepted it and sat up fully, leaning against the wall.
“What’re you doing here?” she croaked. “I thought you were pissed at me.”
“Well, that’s why I’m here,” he responded and helped her off the floor. He wrapped a protective arm around her waist and guided her back to the couch where Eric also sat.
“Are you here to fight? Because this isn’t how I envisioned our first fight.”
He gently sat her on the couch, handing her the blanket and chuckled. “No, that’s not why I’m here.”
“Then what?”
 “Mainly to give you these,” he responded and handed her the roses.
Y/n’s face softened as she weakly grasped the flowers in her fists. “What’s this for?”
 “An apology,” Hyde responded and took a deep breath. “I know I was a jealous jerk earlier and…I’m sorry, okay?”
She looked at him in the eye. “Why were you?”
“I don’t know,” he responded and rubbed his neck. “I just…I just didn’t like seeing some other guy bring you things that I should be bringing.”
She meekly set the flowers down on the coffee table in front of her. “Steven, do you not trust me?”
“What? Of course I do.”
“Then why did you act like Fez was going to hook up with me and I wouldn’t be able to say no?”
“No, it’s not that. I…I—can you hang on a second?” he turned around to look at Eric. “Can we get a minute?” he asked impatiently.
 Eric’s smug look never left his face. “Sure. Doll.”
 Hyde stood abruptly, intimidatingly. Eric laughed and ran upstairs.
Y/n knit her eyebrows together. “You guys are okay now or something?”
“Yeah,” he cleared his throat and sat back down. “That’s another story.”
Y/n nodded. “You were saying?”
“Look, Y/n, when I saw Fez jumping in to immediately take care of you, I guess it felt like I…wasn’t doing my job as your boyfriend. And then when you said it did bother you, I knew I wasn’t. And…that maybe what everyone thinks is true.”
“Which is what?” she pressed.
 “C’mon, you’re really going to make me say it?”
 “Yes,” she responded sternly.
Hyde sighed and tore his eyes away from hers. “That…I’m not good enough…for you. There. Ya happy?”
Y/n sighed, giving him a sad look. “No,” she responded gently and grabbed his hand. “No, I’m not happy. You can’t think that. You can’t let Fez get to you like that and it really didn’t bother me that you didn’t jump up to help me either. I’m a big girl. I can very well go get the stuff myself.”
“So, you don’t mind?”
 She smiled gently. “No. Yes, it’s nice if you did that stuff for me and trust me, I’d love it, but I’m not going to make you do it for me. I want you to want to do it for me.”
He smiled at her and kissed the side of her head. “I did get you some things though.” He leaned down and grabbed the white bag, laying out the contents on the table. “I got you some ginger ale and saltines to help you with the nausea and then when it passes, I got you some chocolates and ice cream to satisfy your cravings.”
 The look of sweets made her stomach churn, but she smiled through it and leaned her head on his shoulder. “Thank you, baby.”
“You’re welcome,” he said quietly and kissed her head once more. He noticed that she was shivering and gently stood. “I’ll be right back.” He high tailed it to his room and brought back a sweater. “Here.”
She grabbed it gratefully and threw it over her head, inhaling his scent: musk and woodsy. He settled on the couch next to her as she cuddled his side. He grabbed the blanket and threw it over both of them.
“So, how was your day?” he asked her.
“Fantastic,” she responded. “I spent the day throwing up my body weight and writhing in pain.”
 “Sounds like a blast,” he chucked.
“Oh, yeah, it was like a party in the toilet,” Y/n responded and chuckled when Hyde made a face. “How was yours?”
 “Well, you know, it was fine,” he responded.
“You and Eric work things out?”
“Yeah. He’s still not happy about it, but he seems to—or trying to at least—accept it. I made him see the bigger picture here.”
 “Which is?”
“Us doing it.”
 “Steven!”
He threw his head back laughing. “I’m kidding.”
 “You better be,” she said and reached over, grabbing the ginger ale. She laid back into his side and took a sip. She hummed and set it in her lap.            “Thank you, Steven. This is probably the best thing anyone has ever done for me.”
He smiled at her gently. “Anything for you, doll.”
 “Awe that’s so cute,” Eric called from the staircase. “It makes me want to vomit.”
Y/n scowled at him. “What do you want?”
“Well, I wanted to talk to you,” he said and sat down in the opposite chair.
“You want to yell at me again?”
 “No,” he responded and looked at the ground. “I’m sorry for the way I reacted. I know I was an ass and I should’ve handled it better, but c’mon, my best friend and my sister, hooking up. I never thought that this would happen and to say I was shocked is an understatement.”
 “I know,” she responded. “But you still said some pretty hurtful things, Eric, and you can’t take that back.”
“I know and I wish I could. You’re my sister, the best one at that, and Hyde, you’re like a brother to me and I just…it hurt, okay? I can understand not wanting to tell anyone else, but to hide it from me? I felt like you couldn’t trust me.”
Y/n cast her eyes down, feeling guilt. “I’m so sorry, Eric. The last thing I wanted to do was hurt you. Lying to you wasn’t easy for me.”
“Then why did you do it?”
 “How would you take it if we just straight up told you?”            “
Yeah, Forman, what would you have said if I straight up said, ‘I’m nailing your sister.’ I bet you still wouldn’t have taken that lightly.”
 Eric shuttered at the thought. “Yeah, definitely wouldn’t have. But it still wouldn’t have been as bad as me catching you.”
Y/n looked at her twin for a moment before letting out a groan. “Dammit, I hate it when you’re right.”
 “Yeah, and it’s not like I’m not going to kill you or anything.”
 “Well, to be fair you did try to disown us,” Hyde defended.
“Okay, yeah, but I just didn’t want to look at you guys at the moment,” Eric said.
 “But kicking us out of the group and the house was the logical answer?” Y/n squinted at him.
“Yeah, not my finest moment,” he agreed and sat down next to Y/n, causing her to shift over. “I’m really sorry, Y/n. I hope you can forgive me.”
Y/n looked at her brother, eyes getting all misty. “Only if you can forgive me.”
Eric smiled at her. “C’mere little sister.” He brought her in and hugged her tight.
Y/n reciprocated by wrapping her arms tightly. “I’m only two minutes younger.”
“Still,” he chuckled. “Besides, if I don’t forgive you, then I won’t have a sister anymore.”
 “We have Laurie,” Y/n responded, pulling away.
 “Do you really want her close?”
Y/n paused, pretending to think it over. “No, I really don’t.”
 Eric chuckled. “Look, Y/n. I know I was a jerk, but you’re not only my sister, you’re my best friend and I don’t want anything to come between us.”
Y/n nodded, smiling and wiped at her eyes. “Me too.”
 “I’m still not entirely happy about you two and to be honest, I’m not sure if I ever will be, but I want you two to be happy and if it’s you two that make each other happy, then so be it. I just don’t want to see any of it.”
“You got it,” Y/n responded, feeling lighter about the situation.
 “I’m going to give you the same speech I gave Hyde,” Eric continued as Y/n’s eyebrows knitted together. “I’d never thought I’d have to say this to my sister about my best friend, but don’t hurt him. I may not be able to kick his ass, but I can for sure…try to kick yours.” As he was saying it, he knew it wasn’t true. Even if it was, he wasn’t going to do it anyway.
Y/n cracked a wide smile, a smile that she hadn’t been able to muster for the last couple of days, and nodded. “Okay, bro. That sounds fair.”
He turned to Hyde. “Just so you know, if you get her pregnant, I will have to find a new and interesting way to kick your ass.”
 “Trust me, man, that ain’t gonna happen,” Hyde responded.
“Yeah, we’re careful,” Y/n responded, adjusting herself to be laying against Hyde. Her stomach and back were starting hurt again and she was desperate to find some relief. Hyde threw an arm over her shoulders, bringing her closer. “Besides, Dad would literally stick his foot in both of our asses.”
“And somehow, he’d still find a way to blame me,” Eric said.
 “Hey, Y/n baby,” Fez called out, entering the basement. “How’re you feeling? You get my gifts?”
 “Hi Fez,” Y/n greeted with a tiny smile. “I did, thank you. It was very nice of you, but I’m not feeling too much better.”
“Sorry to hear that,” he responded.
Y/n shrugged and snuggled deeper into Hyde’s side. “What’re you doing here anyway?”
“Just wanted to come by and see how you were feeling,” he responded.
 “No, you didn’t,” Hyde spit. “You came here to see if she was alone, didn’t you?”
 Fez made a face at him. “What’re you talking about? No, I’m not!”
“Yes you are!” he said and stood up. “Now, knock it off before I make you the first person to touch his chin to ass!”
 Fez looked offended, placing his hand on his chest. “Have you been spying on me?!”
 “Steven, honey, it’s not that big of deal,” Y/n said, trying to calm down the situation.
 “Yeah, honey, listen to your lady,” Fez said, starting to get nervous.
 “No, Y/n, he needs to understand respect,” he replied.
 “I’m sure he gets it now,” Y/n said, signaling Fez to run now.
“No, he doesn’t,” he responded. “If he—”
He was cut off by the slamming of the door as Fez ran outside, away from him.
 “He’s not getting away that easily,” Hyde commented before darting to the door.
 “Hyde, no!” Y/n called after him. She jumped up from her seat, despite her stomach and head screaming at her.
 Hyde ran out the door, causing it to slam against the wall. Y/n followed him out the door, ignoring the sudden faint feeling she had.
“Steven, stop!” she called again, her voice weakened and wavering. She could see Hyde quickly gaining speed on Fez.
 Fez screamed as Hyde tackled him to the ground on the Forman’s front lawn. Eric was behind Y/n in a flash, watching the scene in front of him unfold. Hyde struggling to get Fez in a choke hold, Fez fighting to get out of his grip, and Y/n yelling at him to stop.
 “Steven, enough!” Y/n shrieked weakly, her voice quieting as the world started to spin, the edges of her vision darkening. “Steven, please…”
Her vision darkened as she hit the ground, making the two boys suddenly stop to jerk their attention towards her. Eric dropped to the ground next to her.
“Y/n!” Steven shouted, letting Fez go and running over to her. “Y/n!”
 And that was the last thing she heard before she was swallowed by darkness.

DadWorth AU: Part 3 (Justice For All)
Justice for All has to be one of the angstier parts of this AU, right up there with some ideas I have for Apollo Justice. Especially considering the whole Miles “chooses death” thing. So, let’s dive into it!
< Part 2 | Part 4 >
Reunion, and Turnabout
Things fast forward a couple of months after the end of Rise from the Ashes. Gumshoe’s been taking care of Kay since Miles kind of fucked off. He’s been doing his best, and so are Sebastian and Klavier -- who have been trying to cheer up their third musketeer ever since they found out what happened. But Kay is miserable.
So, now summer break is here for her, Gumshoe decides to take her out to the mountains for the day to get out in nature and hopefully get her mind off of things. Even if it is for a little while.
However, that plan is totally ruined when he gets a call about a murder nearby. He’s the only detective in the area, so they have to go down to Kurain Village to check it out. And that’s where they run into Phoenix for the first time since the end of Rise. Both he and Kay are not doing well in the aftermath of that case, and neither are really sure what to do around each other. Needless to say, the whole interaction is awkward.
Gumshoe does not pick up on this. He asks Phoenix if he could keep an eye on Kay while he takes care of the investigation. After some hesitation and deliberation, Phoenix agrees. So Kay becomes his partner button and Phoenix finally get to interact one-on-one with each other during the investigation for Reunion.
This is the first time they get to do this, since they were either with Maya or Ema on previous cases. It’s still a bit awkward, but when Phoenix finds out that she’s studying to be a defense attorney, things get a little bit easier as they find common ground.
Phoenix unknowingly starting to settle into a mentor role? Yes.
Kay is super turned off by Morgan Fey (getting chills up her spine and a faint memory of Dahlia Hawthorne -- she saw the Fawles trial. Phoenix also gets the same vibes from her.) And is surprisingly good with Pearl.
Her reaction to learning that Franziska is the prosecutor for this case catches Phoenix’s attention. Kay hasn’t heard from Franziska outside of a few text messages to check in on her over the past few months, so the fact that she’s in the country and Kay’s only finding out about it now makes her wonder what’s going on.
Kay goes to meet with Maya at the detention center with Phoenix, and kind of gets overly excited when she sees that Maya is channeling Mia because if you remember, she looked up Mia. Mia was an idol for her. So getting to meet her -- even if it is through spirit channeling -- is the highlight of her week.
And then we get to the trial. Phoenix asks Kay if she wants to stand co-counsel and Kay immediately jumps at the chance to say yes. So this is technically her first trial (she’s excited for it, but a little bit sad that Miles isn’t there to see her). Franziska, on the other hand, is surprised that Kay is standing at the defense’s bench with Phoenix Wright, leading to a lot of things including seeing Kay as a traitor (reason why will be explained later.)
So, Kay stands in for Pearl as co-counsel. As a result, her spirit channeling abilities are not revealed until much later. In the second trial day, she’s not present due to Gumshoe’s intervention and keeping her busy (something which Pearl agrees to so long as Kay and Phoenix get Maya a Not Guilty).
The investigation moments are full of small bonding moments between Phoenix and Kay as they get to know each other a bit better.
So, Team Wright-Faraday get a Not Guilty verdict as promised. Kay’s super proud of herself for managing to do this and it puts her on cloud nine. Franziska only believes that Phoenix won because he had a semi-competent co-counsel with him (Aunt Fran starting to show that she’s proud of Kay a little bit, but is still incredibly pissed that she lost.) Overall, she isn’t sure how to feel about Kay in that moment, and it all comes down to one simple reason:
This is the first time Kay has smiled in months. Everyone who knows her is relieved to see it back.
After the case is closed, Maya does thank Kay for helping and Kay in return does try to cheer her up after the whole “morgan stabbed maya in the back” thing starts to settle in. Am I saying Maya and Kay friendship? Maya and Kay friendship. It starts here.
So, things are starting to look a little bit better for Kay.
The Lost Turnabout
It’s not... Kay’s not involved in this one. Teenage shenanigans happen here as the new school year at Themis starts up.
The first day of school is always pretty easy, but it gets pretty depressing for Kay when one of her professors decides a good idea to break the ice by talking about some of the more ridiculous things that have happened in court cases. It gets the class laughing, and isn’t a bad idea...
Unfortunately for Kay, though, the professor also brings up a certain defense attorney cross-examining a parrot. The memory of that trial brings up a whole lot of feelings for Kay and she just kind of falls quiet for the rest of the day.
But luckily, Klavier and Sebastian have known Kay for a year now, and they realize something’s wrong. So they (primarily Klavier, since he instigates the whole thing) decide to do something about it and distract her. Here is where teenage shenanigans come about.
Just wholesome fun with what is slowly becoming a favorite chaotic trio that ends with everyone collapsed on a couch with an old movie playing in the background. ...and possibly a few appearances from other characters. Who knows?
Kay only finds out about Phoenix’s trial after the fact from Maya, and she’s not sure whether to be impressed that Phoenix managed to do all that with amnesia or laugh about it. She decides to do both.
Turnabout Big Top
It all starts with Phoenix going from ace attorney to ace babysitter as he’s in charge of four teenagers and one small child. Over the past few months, he’s gotten acquainted with Klavier and Sebastian as well, especially after the trio used the Wright & Co. Law Offices as their own personal hangout spot to get homework done and hide out when needed (thank you Kay).
The only reason Kay is brought on as co-counsel for this case is because a: its winter break so she doesn’t have school to worry about and b: the time frame is the same as when Miles was arrested the year prior. If Phoenix is having a rough time, then so is Kay. Especially since this will also be her first birthday since the whole incident. She’s also at Wright & Co. for the same reason when Maya calls up with the case.
This case is not the best distraction for Kay, but at least its something. Lesson learned: as a lawyer, you gotta take the good with the frustrating. Things get worse with Franziska prosecuting again. Kay still doesn’t get what’s up with her and why she’s still getting called a traitor.
The boys are also in on this case because why not, though they don’t stand as co-counsel but rather just help with the investigation. Because we all know that Kristoph and Blaise wouldn’t agree to them standing on the defense’s side, one more than the other.
Kay openly admitting to getting a headache while trying to figure out what the heck is actually going on during the first trial day. She grew up with the Master of Logic himself, so trying to make sense of this without all the information is making her head run in circles. But she’s not going to give up.
It’s revealed when Franziska confronts Phoenix & Co. outside of the lodging house later that day that the reason Franziska calls Kay a traitor is that she deliberately is siding with the man responsible for Miles’s “death”, something that she never thought Kay would do.
Kay never blames Phoenix for what happened to Miles. She mostly blames Gant (and von Karma somewhat) for it. They were the ones who pushed him, not Phoenix. So, when Franziska openly blames Phoenix for what happened, Kay gets pretty pissed.
When Phoenix and Maya continue their investigation, Kay goes to confront Franziska on that matter and just goes off. Months of bottled up emotions just kind of explode outward, and Franziska is the unfortunate target of it all. This blow-up is also the first time that Kay refers to Miles as her dad. Which hits pretty hard. Franziska starts regretting a few choices she’s made today. Klavier and Sebastian pull her away as she starts to break down.
So they just... let her cry it out in the circus’s cafeteria. They end up being the ones who find out about the incident with the lion (once Kay’s calmed down) rather that Phoenix and Maya. The story has them racing over to them, catching the duo just as they’re about to enter Acro’s room and things go about pretty much the same way they do canonically from there.
The next day is a bit hard, and its easy to pick up on the tension between Kay and Franziska here. Taking a page out of the anime, Kay, Klavier, a reluctant Sebastian and Maya recreating the crime for the entire court. She does feel bad about having to indict Acro, though, due to the circumstances surrounding everything.
Kay does a pretty good job, something which Gumshoe relays as a message to her, at the end of the trial, much to her surprise. Who else would be proud of her is something that she wants to know.
Meanwhile, Miles Edgeworth wonders how he’s going to tell his daughter that he’s still alive upon his return to the country. (and yes, he was the one who told gumshoe to tell kay that he was proud of her)
Farewell, My Turnabout
So, Kay at this point still doesn’t know that Miles is alive. He wants to get everything settled before he makes any grand reveals to anyone. He’s also still trying to figure out how to do it since that wasn’t supposed to happen. Kay wasn’t supposed to think he was dead. He told her that he was leaving, sure, but Kay was also half-asleep when he did. So, misunderstandings~
Meanwhile, Phoenix takes the girls (Maya, Pearl and Kay) to the Hero of Heroes Grand Prix. Kay’s gotten decently close to the members of Wright & Co. over the past few months, that much is clear by now.
Kay gets upset about Corrida’s murder because ya know. Jammin’ Ninja fan. She hopes that Engrade gets locked away for doing it. Maya thinks she just doesn’t like the Nickel Samurai, which isn’t that far off. Kay just doesn’t like Engarde thanks to reading Klavier’s tabloid magazines. She never gets to explain the contents of those magazines, though. Phoenix finds out about them later.
Things take a sharp turn when Maya is called to the front desk to answer her “call”. Kay goes with Maya because ya know. Buddy system. (”girls don’t let each other go anywhere alone, nick!” “*sigh* i will never understand teenagers...”)  i think. you know. where this about to go--
So, yeah. Kay gets kidnapped alongside Maya. She puts up a pretty decent fight against de Killer (look at the people she was around growing up, Kay probably does know a little self-defense), but in the end, she still gets ‘napped. And so, Phoenix has to defend Engarde or the two girls will “disappear”.
Things are made worse, as Phoenix is accosted by two teenage boys who can’t get in touch with their third musketeer who didn’t show up for school that day. He’s just trying to do his job, but Klavier and Sebastian are really stubborn and will not leave him alone.
And everything gets worse when Miles makes his grand revival. And then is made the prosecutor for this case. So, Phoenix is not having a very good week at all.
Phoenix and Gumshoe are doing the best to keep the fact that the girls are being held hostage from Edgeworth and the boys. Emphasis on try. All three know that there’s something going on, but they can’t figure out what.
Meanwhile, Kay and Maya are in a wine cellar. Kay has tried several times to break down the door, but it hasn’t worked. de Killer took their phones, so they have no way of contacting the outside. They’re screwed unless they can escape.
Maya realizes that they do have a way to contact the outside and uses her spirit channeling powers to contact Mia, and with Kay’s help manages to explain what’s going on and giving a message to Mia to give to Phoenix.
So, Pearl finally reveals her spirit channeling powers. It freaks Phoenix out at first, but he gets over it quickly because at this point, he’s kind of used to Fey Family Weirdness.
The first part of the trial goes on as pretty much the same as it did before. Afterwards, Phoenix does his best to keep the fact that the girls are kidnapped from Miles because he’s gonna flip the fuck out. And he fails. And Miles kind of does flip out.
So, de Killer and Engarde (more so de Killer because he did his research, he knows the connection with Kay that Edgeworth has) have two pawns to work with and dangle over both the prosecution and defense. And now Edgeworth has two assistants on his side: Sebastian and Klavier, who don’t want to see Kay hurt. However, as future prosecutors, they can’t do much to help Phoenix. So, they help out with the investigation (and using the excuse as this being extra credit for anyone who asks why there are two teenagers here.)
On the other side, Maya and Kay break out of the room they were locked in thanks to a card Maya finds. Things go about as well as they do canonically, but with more struggle. Kay makes a fucking mess trying to defend herself and Maya from de Killer, which will later show the police that something definitely went down here (and concerning the heck out of a good handful of people in the process).
Kay may not know the truth about the Yatagarasu yet, but she sure is acting like the Yatagarasu.
The investigation goes about as well as you expect it to. Klavier and Sebastian are doing their best, but they can’t do much since they’re still only students. And Miles is worried as hell for Kay and ends up wanting to tear Engarde apart. Klavier is right to not like Engarde, as was Kay earlier.
When the trial starts up again, you have both the prosecution, the defense and a few members of the gallery nervous as hell. Gumshoe is doing his best to find the girls, but Miles and Phoenix still need to stall for time.
They do their best, but things are going about as well as they do canonically with Edgeworth being more on edge due to Kay being in danger. And the last time he saw her was when he left. So, he wants to be able to reconcile with her.
Things go on much like they do in canon. The note, Gumshoe’s accident, etc. Mia’s with Kay, doing her best to help, but she’s not sure what more she can do because the girls are weak and tired from being held captive for so long.
More worry on both parts.
When de Killer threatens to kill Maya and Kay when Edgeworth and Phoenix press him and try to get more time, Miles is also there to beg him to leave them alone. This is also the first time that Miles openly refers to Kay as his daughter.
Not much is different there out. They manage to expose Engarde as the asshole that he is, the girls are released and Engarde is declared guilty.
The scene with Franziska at the airport and Phoenix giving Miles the whip takes place a bit earlier, as that’s where Miles goes first before going to meet with Kay. Because he’s still trying to figure out how he’s going to talk to Kay again.
Phoenix and the others meet Maya and Kay at the hospital (Kay and Maya were held captive without much food or water for about three days, and Kay has a few minor injuries from de Killer, so they do need medical attention). Maya has a tearful reunion with Mia (as channeled by Pearl), and Kay gets tackled by her friends on both sides.
And then Miles Edgeworth walks into the room a short while later and Kay does not know what to say. She thought that he was dead for over a year, and a lot of things start bubbling to the surface. She starts tearing up because she thought she would never see Miles again, and he with her.
As soon as he gets close enough, Kay hugs him and calls him stupid in a couple different ways. Miles accepts it and apologizes for making her worry. He promises not to vanish like that again, and returns the promise that Kay made in part 2: to not keep secrets from her again.
So, what they didn’t get at the end of part 2, Miles and Kay finally get at the end of JfA: a chance to actually rebuild and reconcile their relationship without anything getting in the way.
So Justice for All ends on a pretty good note.
That may be the end of Justice for All, but it’s not the end of the story. There are still more ripples to come and fun shenanigans.

Lost And Found
Characters: Law, Lammy, Heart Pirates Rating: Teen Warnings: Language, PTSD, Depression, and Anxiety mention Notes: I know this has probably been done a million times but it’s my turn (: AO3 Link
~~~~~
“Where are you going today, Cap?” Shachi grinned at Law. Law shrugged. “Wandering?”
Law grunted. He watched his crew walk off the Polar Tang. Not at the actual port, of course. Submarines were suspicious enough, let alone one sailing with a black flag. They found a quiet little beach to disembark safely. Law looked back at Shachi. “You know what they say about assuming things.”
“Pawn shops for coins, then.” Law rolled his eyes. “Well, I’m going to find some good grub.” Shachi rubbed his stomach for emphasis. “Want to come with? Or have you decided this is going to be a day where you ignore your own advice and not eat?”
“You’re being rather annoying this morning,” Law quipped.
“Just worried about my cute junior,” Shachi cooed at him. Law rolled his eyes again. Shachi patted his back with one hard pat. “I’ll see you later, Captain. Enjoy your day.”
Law muttered his thanks before adjusting Kikoku. He watched Shachi walk off of the Tang for a moment before sighing and moving to leave the submarine himself.
Shachi was not wrong. Law planned on wandering the island and then probably going to look at coins. Simple pleasures, Law supposed. After a life of whatever in the hell his life has been,  it’s nice to have some form of hobby that doesn't involve violence or medical procedures…or both.
Law walked off the Tang and along the beach, watching the sea hit the shore. He watched a tiny crab scurry from the sand to the sea in some hurry that only crabs could be in. As he walked further down the beach he noticed that people were starting to appear. It looks like he made it to the public beach. Law made a disgusted face. He supposed it was time to look in the town, lest he be surrounded by a bunch of fun-goers.
Law made his way to the port town. Nothing special about it. He wondered if his trip would be fruitless. He might have gone to an island with no new books, no island-specific coffee, or worse, no new coins. He huffed. He wouldn’t know until he actually looked.
His shoes made a tapping noise as he walked on the stone ground. People walked past him, completely unaware of who he was. Or maybe they just really, really didn’t want to acknowledge who he was. Either way, Law didn’t care. He was on a mission. Buy stuff.
He walked past food stands and restaurants, not paying them any mind. He wasn’t in the mood for food, and no one seemed to be selling any quality coffee. He continued walking, looking for anything interesting. He caught sight of a bookstore. Finally. Maybe this place would hold his interest.
He adjusted Kikoku and walked towards the shop. He was almost smacked with the door when someone decided to exit at the time he tried to open it.
“Oh! Sorry!” The woman apologized.
“Whatever. It’s fine,” he grumbled.
He looked at the woman. Her light brown hair was in a braid. Her gold eyes met his and they stared at each other silently.
Of all the things that Law expected to find on this island, this was not one of them.
He stared at the ghost in front of him, not sure what to do. He swallowed bile in his throat, everything coming back to him at once. She looked like her. She looked like his mother. He took a deep breath and looked her over again. No, too much of his father. She looked like Lammy would have, had she had the chance to grow up.
“Law?” The woman spoke up and Law’s ears started to ring. It couldn’t be. “Law?” Her voice grew more anxious. “Is that you?” She knew him? Is that really her? He let out a shaky breath and felt himself reach towards her.
Law snapped back to reality and withdrew his hand. Of course she knew him. He was Trafalgar fucking Law, the Surgeon of Death. He looked at the woman’s face and noticed the tears running down her face.
“Law, it’s you isn’t it?”
“That’s not exactly a hard thing to figure out. I’m sure my bounty poster is everywhere.” He tried to sound calm but his voice was shaking.
“That’s not how I know you. That’s…” she trailed off. “You’re alive! You’re-”
“In the way,” a flat tone said from inside the building.
“Oh!” The woman said. “I’m so sorry. We’ll get out of the way.” The woman took Law’s arm and started to drag him away. Law was so stunned by the action that he didn’t fight back at first.
Once he realized what was happening he pulled his arm back swiftly. “I don’t know who you think you are but-”
She turned to look at him, tears still flowing down her cheeks. “You remember me don’t you? I’m Lammy. You’re my brother.”
Law felt nauseous again. “Lammy died,” he snapped. “She died in that fire.”
“I didn’t. Almost did, but I didn’t. I was saved.” Law eyed her, not believing a word she said, but as he did he noticed the all too familiar white splotches on her tan skin, just like him. Just like his splotches. But still - there’s no way she was saved. It was genocide. They set the hospital on fire on purpose. It was to kill everyone inside.
His chest tightened and it was hard to breathe. He felt a cold sweat run down his face. Anxiety. PTSD. His vision was blurry for a moment until he felt a hand on his forehead.
“You’re hot,” she said. “Come on. I’ll take you to my flat.”
She started to drag him off again and this time he couldn’t find the strength to fight back. Before he knew it he was laying on a couch in a small apartment with a cold washcloth on his forehead.
He stared at the ceiling and then over to “Lammy,” who was reading a book in a chair across from him. He narrowed his eyes at her and felt himself become nauseous again. He felt hot, like a fire was lit under his feet. He smelled smoke and corpses. He swallowed down bile again. He needed to get out of here.
“Don’t even think about it,” she said, not looking up from her book. “I know that look. That’s the “I’m going to run” look patients get.”
“What, are you a doctor?”
“Yep. It’s natural, isn’t it? I mean, Mom and Dad were.” Law sat up, the washcloth falling into his lap. He looked around the apartment. Not much to it, honestly. It looked very bare. “And you became a pirate captain, interestingly enough.”
“I’m still a doctor,” he said automatically, not thinking about it.
They stared at each other for a moment, scrutinizing and analyzing each other. Law realized how much this woman looked like his mother. It made him want to cry. An old buried ache in his heart that was long repressed.
“I can’t believe you still have the hat,” Lammy spoke up.
“My sister got it for me.”
Lammy smiled brightly. “Ah, I suppose that makes sense. I don’t have anything from that time.” She sighed and closed her book. “What’s with all the tattoos?”
“You did just state that I’m a pirate captain,” he said flatly.
Lammy chuckled. “Yeah. How exactly did that happen?”
Law narrowed his eyes and his skin prickled. “Why would I tell you that?”
“Ah, you still don’t believe that I am who I say I am.”
“You think I’m just going to believe anyone who says they’re my dead sister?”
“How many people know you have a dead sister?” She questioned.
Doflamingo, he thought to himself, very aware of the fact that this could easily be a trap and he was already shit out of luck. What an idiot he was! He was so easily taken away by some random woman because he had a little PTSD. He should be better than this. When was the last time he made a fool of himself like this?
“How about I tell you what happened?” Law didn’t answer so she took that as permission. “The hospital was set on fire and I was dying. Well, dying faster. I passed out from the smoke, knowing that I was about to die alone,” she frowned and rubbed her arms. “The next thing I knew I woke up in a bed by a window with a curtain blowing in the breeze. It smelled like honeysuckle. A nurse walked in the room and started taking care of me. I asked all the normal questions. “Where am I? Where was my family? What happened?” And the like. She didn’t answer any, she told me to wait for the doctor.” She went silent.
“And?” Law prompted.
Lammy blinked. “The doctor came to see me eventually. He told me someone had pulled me out of the hospital and took me to another town near the shore. The doctor had heard about Amber Lead and was trying to work with anyone who could help cure the poison. Turns out he was too late,” she said bitterly. “Everyone died.” Law didn’t say anything. “I was sick and dying. I couldn’t get out of bed and I barely had a voice due to all the smoke I inhaled. I felt like whatever had happened was just a bandaid on a bullethole. I was going to die. Amber Lead was going to kill me. And I was miserable. I endured too many surgeries when I was so young.” She sighed. “The doctor performed one last surgery and I was okay. I wasn’t dying anymore. Something about it being in my liver.” She shrugged
Law swallowed. “And after that?”
“I helped the doctor in whatever way I could for saving me, but over the course of the months I was there the Navy ran raids, looking for people from Flevance who may have escaped, and as you are well aware, the scars never faded.” Law looked at his hands and the white splotches on his skin. “So, I found my way off the island. I stowed away on a cargo ship, eating scraps and sharing space with rats. I hid pretty well for a recovering, sickly eight year old girl. I would stop at an island, stow away on another ship, and then do it all over again a few times until I found an island where I finally decided to stay. Found an orphanage. Stayed there. Went to school and got the best grades so I could do everything on scholarship. Became a doctor and found myself on this island. Uh, that’s it, I guess.” She sighed. “I suppose it’s not believable and sounds like any story book tragedy. I mean, why would anyone save me when they were killing everyone else and…”
Law tuned out her anxious rambling and stared at her quietly. He let out a breath, starting to become far too emotional for the cool and calm captain of the Heart Pirates. What if this wasn’t a trap? What if she was who she said she was? What if she really was Lammy? What if what if what if…
“If,” he spoke up and interrupted her. “If you’re really Lammy,” he continued slowly. “Tell me something I would only know.”
Lammy frowned. “Well, let me think that far back. It’s been years since we saw each other and I barely remember anything it was so long ago.” She tapped her fingers together. “Do you still collect coins? Do you collect the Sora comics? I remember us reading them together.” Law frowned and his bottom lip quivered a bit. “Uh, let’s see, you once got in trouble at school for bringing a frog to your class photo.”
“Okay,” he said quietly. He breathed in through his nose. “Okay.”
“Do you believe me?”
He wanted to. He so badly wanted to. “If I did, what would you do?”
“Uh, hug you, I guess.” She cleared her throat. “I heard about a Trafalgar Law becoming a pirate captain, but I thought “no way, that’s not my brother.” However…it is you and-”
“What’s my middle name?” He interrupted her.
“What?”
“What’s…our middle name?”
Lammy blinked. “Duh, I suppose that would’ve been the easiest way to figure it out. It’s “D.””
Law didn’t mean to make a tiny pained noise that came from deep within his throat, but he did. It was Lammy. Who else knew that secret information?
Lammy smiled softly. “Want that hug?”
“Shut the hell up,” he said, holding every emotion back and failing spectacularly at it.
Lammy walked over to him and wrapped her arms around his neck. Law immediately held onto her. Lammy was here. His baby sister was here and alive.
He blinked away tears to the best of his ability. He heard Lammy sniffle and his heart ached. He dreamed of this. He had prayed for this knowing that it would never be answered. Life was cruel and painful and yet she was here, crying with him.
They held onto each other crying, letting their pain out. Their hearts were bare for one another. Law had never felt this much joy and hurt at the same time. His head and heart were racing. He felt light headed and nauseous. Of all the things he ever counted on happening, this was one he knew was never going to happen.
After long minutes of crying like he hasn’t cried in years, they pulled out the wine. Lammy asked him what happened and he told her. He told her cautiously, but he told her. Of a twisted fate marked with pain and suffering. He told her how he escaped and of The Family. He told her about Cora-san. He told her about how he survived with his three companions for so long.
Lammy nodded. “A lot has happened to you,” she giggled after a moment. “And you became a criminal.”
“What else was I supposed to do?”
She shrugged causally. “It’s your life, you did what you wanted so that’s what mattered. You’re happy now, yeah?”
Law took a sip from his wine. “Ish.”
“Ah, yeah.”
“What about you?”
“Eh.” She shrugged. “Could be worse. Could be better.”  She paused. “Tell me about your adventures.”
Law raised a brow. “Why?”
“What do you mean “why?” Because I wanted to hear what’s out there!”
Law chuckled. “Okay, I’ll tell you some.”
Law told her about the many islands and adventures he had been on, leaving out the more…violent parts. He didn’t need his sister to know everything about being a pirate. She listened eagerly, her eyes wide like a child being told an exciting bedtime story. They finished the wine together and were laughing by the end of the bottle.
“That all sounds amazing!” She exclaimed. “I wish I could see the world like that.”
Law hesitated for a moment before swallowing. “You could come with me.”
“Huh?”
“You could come with me.”
“To be a pirate?” She squeaked. Lammy looked at him with wide eyes. “I-I don’t know. I mean, we’re together again after so long but…to become a pirate…”
Law frowned. “You’re right. Never mind. I don’t want to put you in harm's way. If you stay here, I know where you are and that you’ll be safe.”
Lammy sighed slowly and nodded. “Yeah.”
They went silent. Law looked out the tiny window. It was getting dark. It wouldn’t be out of the question for someone to spend the night somewhere and off the sub, but it didn’t feel right staying over. Yes, they were reunited, but they were still strangers. It had been over a decade since they saw each other, they had no idea who each other were anymore. In fact, Law was sure that if Lammy really got to know him, she’d turn him away.
Law placed his wine glass on the coffee table and stood up. “I should probably head back to my ship.”
“Already?” Lammy frowned sadly. “We just…” she trailed off. “I’ll walk you to your ship.”
“You want me to let my sister walk alone at night?”
“I’ve got tiny safety weapons,” she pouted. “Besides, this island is safe, there’s never any issues here.”
That she knew of. Law thought to himself. Who knows what the government and Navy could be covering up.
“No, Lammy. I want you to be safe at home.” He reached out and ruffled her hair. “I will write to you.”
He watched tears fall down her face. She stood up and hugged him tightly. He wrapped his arms around her and frowned. He didn’t want to let her go again, but their lives were so different that he had to. He needed to let her live her own life and let himself live his own life.
Eventually they said their goodbyes and Law walked home alone. He was a mix of emotions that would certainly keep him up all night. He barely acknowledged anyone on the sub, stating he was tired and wanted to go to bed. He slinked into his room, placing Kikoku against the wall and throwing off his clothes. He laid in bed and stared at the ceiling, no longer willing to let his brain function for the rest of the night.
~~~~~~
“Where did you go yesterday? You disappeared.” Penguin asked Law early the next morning while they stood on deck.
“Nowhere,” Law grunted and sipped coffee.
“Okay. Why are we leaving so early?”
“Because I want to.”
“Okaaaay.” Penguin eyed him suspiciously.
Truth be told, he wasn’t wanting to stick around anymore. He didn’t want to leave Lammy, but he knew if he didn’t it would be harder to let her go. There was only so much heartbreak he could handle, and he’s had enough in his lifetime.
The crew was either coming back from a long night and/or getting ready to shove off. Law sipped his coffee and stared at the island. This was best. This was what was best for him and his heart.
He closed his eyes and sighed. He turned and leaned his back against the railing.
“Captain,” Bepo came up to him. “We’re ready.”
“Okay, let’s go and get ready to sub-”
“Waaaaaaiiiiiitttttttt!!!!” He heard a faint voice from behind him.
He and Bepo looked at each other confused before looking behind him.
A tiny figure was running towards the sub with a suitcase trailing behind them.
“Law!! Wait for me!!” They waved at him.
Law blinked. “Lammy?! What the hell are you doing?!” He called to her and ignored the various “Lammy?’s”  and other such things the nearby crew members muttered to each other.
Lammy didn’t answer, she kept running and dragging her suitcase behind her. She heaved and puffed when she made it to the side of the Tang.
“I’m,” she took a deep breath. “Wow, I am so out of shape. I’m coming with you.”
“…” Law stared at her wide eyed. “What?”
Lammy took a deep breath and walked up the ramp to the deck. She looked around the deck and then to him. “I’m coming with you, brother.”
“Uh, Captain?” Bepo said anxiously.
“Why?” Law asked. “Didn’t you say-”
“I know what I said but…but screw it! I want to be with my brother! It’s not fair that we went through everything we did but can’t actually be around each other because of silly rules like “pirates are criminals!” If I have to become a criminal to not be alone anymore, then I will!”
Law stared at her while everyone else stared at him. Law looked around and then back at Lammy. He snorted. “You know this means I’m your captain, right? You have to do what you’re told.”
“Oh…well, whatever! Who cares!” She grinned and rushed over to hug him.
Law wrapped his arms around her with a soft smile. There was various confused voices that surrounded him but he’ll answer them later. For right now…he’ll just let himself be happy with his sister.

New drabble! This kind of just poured out basically all at once, lol. This is for modern Topolino Newton, I've got his first story translated here for the unfamiliar: https://equustenebris.tumblr.com/post/658572502503735296/hello-duck-community-i-come-bearing-a-gift-so
Newton Gearloose has a bully. For Whumptober 2021. Prompt: "Who did this to you?"
Three. Sticks and Stones May Break My Bones But...
He gave a final sniffle as he rounded the corner to his uncle's house, trying to pull himself back together before his uncle saw him crying. The punches and kicks had been painful, sure, but it was the humiliation more than anything -- and the overwhelming fear of facing Jax again tomorrow.
He'd always known there was no way he'd win in a fight. He was Newton Gearloose, inventor, not -- like -- Newton Gearloose, boxer, or something. He just wasn't built for it, and besides, he'd always firmly believed brains were better than brawn any day. Still, when Jax snatched him out of the hallway to shake him down for his chemistry project results, he'd made his very best attempt to fight back, but Jax was built like an eighth grader, and all he'd really managed to do was make him angrier. He gingerly touched his fingertips to his swollen eye, hoping it didn't look nearly as bad as it felt.
He didn't have any idea what he'd done to get on Jax's bad side -- they only had one class together, and despite his natural aptitude for it, it wasn't as though Newton was particularly well-liked by their chemistry teacher anyway. (A few too many beakers shattered, chemicals spilled, labs blown up -- frankly, he was amazed they still let him do the hands-on work.)
But for whatever reason, Jax had apparently decided that Newton was his new target -- and he evidently had a lot of free time to spend making Newton's life as miserable as possible. It had started off with little things, stealing his pencils, getting in his way in line at the water fountain, knocking the books out of his hands -- all of that was manageable, and honestly Newton was often so distracted by his own ideas for new inventions that he barely noticed. But when it went from the annoying to the physical -- snatching him from the hallway just after the last bell to rough him up -- well, that he noticed.
He opened up the front door slowly, peeking around in the hopes that his uncle was down in the lab, and he'd have a chance to try to clean himself up before his uncle saw him. Apparently, today was really not his lucky day, because Gyro was at the sink, washing up some dishes.
"Hi, Newton," he chirped brightly, "how was sch -- Newton?" He dropped the dish back into the sink as he caught sight of his nephew's black eye, immediately swiveling around. Newton cringed, hunching his shoulders as if he could make himself small enough to disappear. "Your face! What happened?"
"Nothing, Uncle, I'm fine," he tried, attempting to slip away to the bathroom.
"You certainly are not! Who did this to you?"
Little Helper was already at his side with an ice pack, holding it up above his tiny head for Newton to take. Embarrassed, he only looked away instead.
"Nobody, Uncle, it's -- it's fine," he tried again, cheeks flushed and burning. But Gyro wasn't so quick to give up, quickly kneeling in front of him.
"Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere else? Your arms? Your tail?" he asked, lifting Newton's shirt to check his belly, gently snatching his wrists to examine his arms, and just generally not helping the utter humiliation burning in the pit of his stomach.
"I'm fine," Newton snapped again, pulling his arms away.
"Newton." Gyro took him by the shoulders, gazing into his eyes. Reluctantly, the boy looked back to him, biting his lip to try to hold the persistent tears at bay. "You can tell me. What happened?"
Despite his best efforts, a single hot tear slipped down his cheek -- and then it was all over, the floodgates wide open as he wrapped his arms around his uncle's neck, trying to choke back sobs as he explained: all the multitude of small things he ignored for months, one after another, and now finally, the big things he couldn't. It came tumbling out at once in a flurry, months of pain and fear he hadn't realized he had been carrying. Gyro just held him, gently rubbing his back, occasionally giving him soft, preening nips, trying to calm him down.
When he was finally finished, Gyro nodded firmly, intent. "We'll go to the principal." Newton immediately shook his head, wincing.
"No, Uncle! It'll just get worse if you tell anyone! Principal Schnauzer doesn't even like me, he doesn't care, and even if he did he can't watch me all the time! It wouldn't be safe."
"Well, we at least have to tell your mom and dad," he mumbled, rubbing Newton's back again.
Again, Newton shook his head. "Oh, please, no, Uncle! This is already humiliating enough, I don't want them to know, too!"
"We have to do something, Newton! I can't send you back to school like this!"
"I can handle it myself," Newton mumbled, gazing vaguely over his shoulder towards his treehouse, and his own secret lab, hidden away from his uncle. He had no idea what, exactly, but surely he could come up with some sort of invention to deal with this on his own. His uncle, however, seemed less than convinced.
"Maybe I could invent something for you? You know, something that could keep you safe, maybe like some sort of...repelling ray, or maybe a robot bodyguard, or --"
"I'll be fine, Uncle," Newton mumbled, cringing. The last thing he needed was his uncle interfering -- whether his inventions worked or didn't, either way, it could only add to his humiliation. Really, showing up the next day with a robot bodyguard? "I can just -- I'll handle it."
Gyro stood, scratching the back of his neck. "Are you sure, Newton?"
The boy said nothing, crossing his arms loosely over his chest. On the living room wall, unnoticed, a large bee -- too large -- softly beat its wings.
---
The next morning's bike ride to school felt more like a death march. Newton and the triplets walked the last stretch, coming up on the bike rack just outside the school.
"Are you sure you don't want us to help you, Newton?" Huey asked, frowning worriedly.
"Yeah, we're pretty tough -- we can take him on!" Dewey offered. Newton only shook his head, polishing off the last of his breakfast apple.
"No, I don't want to get you guys caught up in this too," he muttered, tossing the core into the garbage can as they locked up their bicycles. "Besides, it's just going to get worse if I can't handle him on my own."
"Huh? What's going on over there?" Louie wondered aloud, finally noticing the large crowd of students on the school's front lawn. Curious, the boys pushed their way forward, slipping through the crowd to approach the large oak tree that everyone seemed to be gathered around.
"--do you mean, you have no idea how he got there? Someone did it! He must have been here since last night! You've got camera footage, don't you?!"
"I can't explain it, Principal Schnauzer, but I already reviewed it and there's just...nothing. It looks like it's all been scrubbed clean somehow."
"Well cut him down from there, and get his parents and the police on the phone! And get these kids out of here, already! Oh, this is going to be such a mess... You! Get to class! There's nothing to see here!"
Newton and the triplets finally pushed their way to the front, stumbling out in front of the oak tree. It took no more than a split second for Principal Schnauzer to spot them in the crowd, and with a fury Newton hadn't seen before (which, frankly, was saying something for the schnauzer), he abruptly whipped around, pointing directly at him. "You!"
The other students immediately backed away, leaving Newton standing on his own, frozen in shock as the principal stomped closer. Snarling, voice low and dangerous, he shoved his snout nearly against Newton's beak. "I don't know how you managed to pull this off, but I know you're behind this somehow. This fell out of his pocket."
He shoved a slip of paper into Newton's grip, but Newton's attention was elsewhere -- slowly, his eyes trailed up to the oak tree, finally seeing what everyone else had been staring at. There, Jax dangled from a branch at the top of the tree, still dressed in pajamas, hogtied, terrified sobs muffled by the thick gag in his mouth.
He just stared for a moment, slack-jawed. A tiny yelp from Dewey, evidently reading over his shoulder, brought him back to reality and he looked down at the piece of paper in his hands. There, scrawled in his uncle's tell-tale handwriting, was a hastily written note.
He won't be bothering you anymore, Newton.
Let me know if I need to pay anyone else a visit.
--MD
"This isn't over!" Principal Schnauzer raged, swiping the paper back out of Newton's hands before storming away. The triplets exchanged worried looks, but Newton just stood at the base of the oak tree, too stunned to move, as his (now former, he supposed) bully dangled helplessly above his head.

I felt sick to the stomach. Legs feeling like they were about to give out at any moment. I could feel everyone’s eyes on me, burning a hole straight through me. I wanted to curl up into a ball and die right there, I begged for the ground to swallow me up and send me straight down to hell where I belonged. For whatever reason, hell didn’t agree with me. Probably laughing at my miserable predicament. So I did what any logical person would do. I ran.
24 hrs earlier.
“(Y/N)! Hurry up we’re going to be late!” my friend yells.
I steady my breathing gripping onto the bathroom counter like my life depended on it. I look up at myself in the mirror and put on my best customer service smile before heading out.
“sorry was just fixing my hair” I lie grabbing my bag, my friend furrows her brows at me suspiciously.
“it looks fine now come on, bridezilla wants us there on the dot” she sighs shouldering her own bag and grabbing the key.
“god please don’t remind me” I grumble trying not to pout like a 5 year old.
“hey at least you get to be a part of the wedding, she just wants me there to do free makeup” my friend scoffs rolling her eyes as we get in the car.
“only because I’m friends with Chris, trust me if she had her way I wouldn’t even be invited” I explained looking out the window.
Me and Chris had known each other our entire lives, our mothers were best friends and naturally we became best friends. I’d been there for him before anyone knew who he was, I went to every stage show, even the one where he had just a 5 second cameo. He’d been there for me when my dad passed away when I was 10, supported me through the gruelling hard work of college, even offered to pay off my student debt when he landed his big first pay check.
He excelled in things I didn’t, and vice versa. He was excellent with words and I was excellent at reading people. When he first introduced me to his bride to be, I could tell there was something not right about her, and I could tell she didn’t like me. As their relationship blossomed, my friendship with Chris took a backseat. I saw him less and less, and he’d only call when he was on set, and she wasn’t around. I was certain she was spilling stuff to the media, just so she’d get her picture taken with him. I never had proof though.
When Chris asked me what I thought about her, I smiled as if it was my job and said
“as long as you’re happy, I’m happy”.
Maybe I should have taken up acting too, I deserved an Oscar for putting up with her, and an Emmy for hiding my feelings towards Chris.
“earth to (Y/N)” my friend calls “stop acting like you’re in a 00s music video” she smirks.
 I couldn’t help but smile slightly “god I hope the next couple days go quick” I sigh.
Tumblr media
I was exhausted, Bridezilla had been on at me all day. I had barely even seen Chris all day. Maybe that was for the better though, it might make tomorrow easier.
I was just flopping onto the bed when I heard someone knocking at the door. Dear god it better not be her having another go at me for being taller than her. I open the door and I’m met with Chris smiling holding a box of pizza.
“I know there was barely any time for food today and how hangry you get” he smirks.
“you are the most amazing person on this planet” I say grabbing the box and letting him in.
“I know it’s what I do” he smirks flopping down on the bed beside me.
“I barely saw you today, it sucked” he pouts grabbing a slice of pizza.
I shrug my shoulder “its okay, you were doing groom stuff” I smile reassuringly.
“I know but you’re one of my groomsmen, groomswoman? Whatever its called, but you were with her all day” he says furrowing his brows shaking his head slightly “I know she isn’t exactly your favourite person in the world” he says apologetically.
I smile reassuringly “yeah but you’re my favourite person, and I want you to be happy and have the wedding you’ve always dreamed of, I’d take a bullet for you, if it meant you had what you wanted” I tell him resting my hand on top of his.
He nods his head slightly looking conflicted “what’s up?” I ask him taking a slice of pizza.
“hm?” he mutters breaking the train of thought he had “oh nothing, just thinking” he says waving it off.
I furrow my brows at him “Chris, come on what’s wrong” I pressed, he sits up looking at his hands in his lap.
“do you ever feel like you’re looking for a sign, but you don’t know exactly what the sign is or what you want it to say” he confessed not meeting my eyes.
I look over at him concerned wondering if he was getting cold feet “or the feeling that something doesn’t feel right and you’re just waiting for it to go wrong” he continues.
I sigh to myself trying to find the right words “Chris, its okay to feel nervous your life is changing massively tomorrow, and I know deep down you will do the right thing” I tell him taking his hands in mine.
“Chris you are the most amazing person I have ever met, you’re kind, funny, amazing with kids, you’re goddamm attractive, even back in middle school I thought you were the coolest kid” I say beginning to ramble on unaware that every feeling I bottled up was exploding out of me
“you have such a way with words that makes everyone stop and listen, you know what you believe in and you stand up for it, you’re never afraid to show people how you feel, or ask for help. You work hard and play even harder, jumping over counters like a little kid, anyone would be a fool to not love you, trust me I know I’ve loved you for—” my brain finally catches up with my mouth and slams it shut.
Chris looked back at me with a mixture of shock, relief and wanting. I go to try and dig myself out of the grave I was in but before I even have a chance Chris’ lips are pressed against mine in a rough kiss.
My hands instantly find the back of his head and shoulder, he pulls me onto his lap and wraps his arms around my waist. I’d dreamt of this for years and it was finally happening, the day before Chris’ wedding.
To another woman.
I pull out of the kiss “you’re getting married tomorrow” I mutter shaking my head, Chris looks up at me with hooded eyes.
“but what if this is the sign” he says going to kiss me again but I push myself away.
“no I can’t be Chris, you love her” I say standing up, putting some distance between him and me.
He looks over at me hurt and conflicted “Chris this is just nerves, nothing more heat of the moment I know it and you know it too” I tell him beginning to pace back and forth.
“but—” he starts.
“no Chris, trust me you’ll see her tomorrow in her dress and you’ll forget about all of this” I tell him.
He sighs in resignation looking down at the floor “are you okay?” he asks, I stop turning to look at him.
“yes” I lie “as long as you’re happy, I’m happy you’re my best friend” I tell him.
He nods his head “you’re my best friend” he sighs pulling me in for a hug.
Tumblr media
The next morning was hell, bridezilla was already yelling at her bridesmaids. I was sat getting my make up done when she looked over at me.
“no I don’t like that, she can’t look better than me” she snaps at my friend who forces a smile telling the bride she’ll make her look 10 time better.
Once I was ready I made my escape out of the room under the pretences I was going to get some fresh air.
I passed the room where Chris and his mates were getting ready and I could hear him laughing happily.
I see Scott round the corner down the hall “hey come to join us?” he asks wrapping his arm around me.
“just getting some air, her pastry looking dress is take up all the room in there” I smirk, knowing Scott wasn’t her biggest fan either.
“oh god no don’t tell me its all poofy and huge” he laughs squirming making me laugh.
“sparkly too, I think you could hide the entire Kardashian Jenner family under that skirt” I add making him howl with laughter.
“god chris better love her enough to put up with that, he just wanted a simple wedding, nothing big, it was a win that he got everyone to sign a NDA” Scott explains and I start to picture what a wedding like that would be like, it wasn’t hard considering that’s how I always pictured mine.
“hey you okay?” Scott asks grabbing my attention again.
“yeah just daydreaming” I admit.
“you know I always pictured you and Chris getting together, he had the biggest crush on you for pretty much his entire life, plus oh my god you would be the best sister in law, and he’s always just so happy when he’s with you” Scott rambles on unknowingly making my heart break with every word.
His words stayed with me the rest of the day, ringing in my ears. The next few hours felt like a blur and soon enough the wedding procession began, I took a deep breath as I walked down the aisle.
I glance up and my eyes meet Chris’ and he’s staring back at me, I begin to wonder what it would feel like if I was the bride and my heart begins to shatter knowing that would never happen.
We were all stood at the front waiting on the bride, there was some delay of course. I look out at everyone and my head feels fuzzy and the next thing I know I’ve grabbed Chris’ hand saying
“don’t do it”.
I wake from my trance as I feel everyone including Chris looking at me shocked, he turns to face me and goes to say something but I don’t hear it as I run as fast as I can away from the entire situation.
I ran into the garden behind the venue bracing myself on the wall trying not to pass out or vomit as the tears streaming down my face, reliving every painful millisecond of what just happened.
I hear someone yelling, the sound of the voice getting closer and closer. I recognised it, it was bridezilla. I brace myself waiting to feel her wrath but as I turned it wasn’t at aimed at me.
She was screaming at Chris who was looking frantically around, he lays his eyes on me and starts making his way over.
The screaming bride grabs his hand and tried to pull him to a stop “No, she’s always hated me, she is trying to ruin my day!” she screeches.
Chris turns round and yells back at her “Shut up!” he bellows making her faulter “this was supposed to be our day, not yours, this entire relationship and all been about you! you! you! you! I’m sick of it! you don’t care about me, just how much money I have! You never listened to anything I want! You have never been there for me!” Chris shouts glaring down at her.
She starts crying placing her hands on his chest “Chris baby no, I care about you, I’ve been there” she rambles.
He grabs her hands and forces them back to her “only when it suited you” he growls.
“I have been looking for a sign that this wasn’t right, and that sign is right there” he says pointing over at me, “because of her, I didn’t just make the biggest mistake of my life, but if I’m honest the biggest mistake of my life was being with you when I should have been with her” he continues chest heaving as he takes a few steps away from her.
“because I love her, and she loves me, and loves me for who I am, not for what I do” Chris says looking over at me tears in his eyes.
I was frozen in my spot afraid that if I did or said anything I would ruin everything. Chris walks over to me and cups my cheeks looking down at me lovingly.
“I love you (Y/N), I always have and I always will” he smiles, tears roll down my face.
“I love you too” I mutter through the tears.
I leap up wrapping my arms around his shoulder as his kisses me deeply, I can hear bridezilla screaming at him, saying he’ll regret this.
“run away with me” Chris says in between kisses.
I smile “lets go” I say taking his hand as we run out to the car. As we go I see Scott smiling at us giving us a thumbs up.

Perfectly Fine (Pt. 5)
Tumblr media
Premise: “You know why I don’t like you? It’s because you’re a natural. You’re naturally kind, naturally good-looking; you can wear trash bags and still look perfectly fine. You’re naturally intelligent and excellent in everything you do. It’s like you naturally get what you want, you don’t have to work hard for it. You don’t have to pretend because people naturally like you.”
Or Bucky found out that the new oh-so-perfect Junior Accountant of Stark Industries isn’t as perfect as everyone thinks.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
It was only eight in the morning, but you found yourself busy as a bee. You woke up early that Saturday to somewhat clean up your apartment because Wanda would drop William off before her flight to DC. You promised her you’d look after the boy while she was gone, and you meant it.
An hour and a half later, the doorbell rang, and you wasted no time opening the door, knowing who it was.
“Hey, co-“
“Mornin’ doll.”
Your smile immediately vanished at the person in front of you, turning into a scowl. “The fuck are you doing here, you peasant?”
Never mind that he looked hot as hell in that black shirt. You loathed it when he shows up unannounced.
“Can’t I visit my girlfriend on weekends?” James retorted with a smirk and pushed past you to get inside. You did not miss the way his eyes widened in surprise. “Wow, this place is pristine.”
“Shut up, James.” You said as your trailed behind him towards the living room, annoyed at the apparent jab at your moment of cleanliness. “First, I am not your girlfriend, and second, I don’t have time for your blackmail shitshow today because Wanda and William will be here soon.”
“I’m gonna let that first one slide, doll since I know how grumpy you can be in the morning.”
You decided to ignore his statement, content with shooting eye daggers towards the back of his head. He went straight to the kitchen to make coffee, you knew, because that’s what he always does when he shows up unannounced and pesters you in your house.
Minutes later, the doorbell rang again, and you briefly hoped that this time, it’s Wanda and William behind the door. You got up from where you were seated on the couch, but James beat you to the door.
“I’ll get it.”
Alarmed, you ran towards him before he could open it. “No!” You lowly hissed. “I don’t want Wanda to know you’re here. Go hide in the kitchen.”
He raised a brow at you. “Wanda already knows we’re dating. What I got to hide for?”
“Yes, but I don’t want her to think that we’re… you know.” You flushed at the thought. You’ve always known that couples who go to their partner’s houses are doing it -not that you think you and James are couples. You just didn’t want Wanda to have the impression that you two are having sex as well.
You dropped your gaze from his face, and it fell on his chest. You didn’t miss the way how the dark fabric clung to him. He was well-built, no doubt; it was the first time you’ve seen him wearing clothing other than his suit and tie. His usually sleek brunette hair is tousled, but he still looked handsome as hell. The image will be etched in your mind for a while, you know it.
Bucky saw your face heat up and instantly knew what you were referring to. “We’re what, doll?” He smirked as he leans closer to your face.
Your breath hitched. “Nothing, just get to the god damned kitchen, please.”
“As you wish, sweetheart.” He conceded, which actually surprised you.
When James finally disappeared into the kitchen, you tried to calm yourself down before opening the door, greeting Wanda with a sweet smile.
“Thanks again, y/n. I owe you.”
“You’re welcome, Wanda. And don’t worry, Will’s in good hands.” You assured her.
The redhead turned to her son, who now stood beside you, your arm draped over his shoulder. “Now, you be good, okay. Don’t give y/n a hard time.” She reminded before giving him a peck on the cheek. She bid the both of you goodbye, and you both watched as she hailed a cab and climbed as soon as she got one.
You led the boy inside, noting how he got excited at the sight of James. You weren’t aware that they know each other.
“Hey, Will. Wanna go biking today?” James asked as he walked towards you two.
Your jaw dropped. No, that wasn’t what you planned to do today. You and Will were gonna binge watch Paw Patrol on Netflix, maybe munch on some sweet snacks, play a little, then hit the sack when night came.
“I don’t think tha-“
“YES!” William yelled enthusiastically, then looked at you, eyes pleading. “Can we go biking, y/n?”
“Oh, sure, Will. If that’s what you want.”
“Yay! Thank you y/n!”
Once again, you turned to James with a scowl, but he only grinned at you. If looks could kill, this man would be dead. “Go and get dressed, doll. We’re gonna have so much fun today.”
———
Bucky cast a worried glance at you. “You okay, doll?” He asked. You’ve been unusually quiet since you got in the car. You weren’t blessing him with your curses, and he thought it was because you’re censoring your words because of William, but he noticed that you weren’t even shooting him your virtual daggers.
You just sat there on the passenger seat with a blank face, and it got him concerned.
“Doll?” He called again when you didn’t respond the first time, and you finally looked at him as if broken from a trance.
“Huh?”
“You good?”
You bit your lip in trepidation as you recalled what James said earlier.
“We’re just like a family, bonding over the weekend. It’s gonna be fun.”
Family? Bonding? You sat there staring at his side profile but not really seeing him. You were lost in your thoughts. How do you bond with your family?
You were in second grade when you noticed that you were different from the other kids. You didn’t have a mother, and they did. And that’s what a family is, your teacher said. There’s a mother, a father, and their child or children. And the family has fun on the weekends, and they call it bonding.
You were shocked, scared, and you panicked. You didn’t have a family, and you certainly didn’t bond during weekends. No, what you did since you were six was helping around your father’s small repair shop after school. When the weekend came, he would spend the entire day drinking while you listen as he rants on about all his life’s problems.
You remembered asking yourself why? Why were you different? Maybe there’s something wrong with you? Maybe you didn’t really have a family, you didn’t have a mother, and you didn’t bond during weekends.
“I’m fine.” You finally said.
“You sure?”
“Yeah,” You squeaked. You know James wasn’t buying it, so you decided to change the subject instead. You turned to William, who sat in the back, seatbelt strapped on.
“What do you wanna do after biking, Will? Wanna go to the arcades?”
The boy’s eyes lit up at your suggestion. “Can we?”
“Of course! Then after that, we’ll grab pizza and ice cream. How’s that sound?”
“Can I have cotton candy too?”
You chuckled, a genuine smile finally gracing your lips. “Sure!”
True enough, the three of you went cycling by the park with rented bikes, after that, you rented rollerblades and went skating (you, failing miserably so while the two boys laughed at the way you fell on your butt cheeks but James was always there to help you out). Then you went and grabbed pizza and ice cream and cotton candy, and when you’re all full, you beelined for the arcades.
The night rolled in, Will is asleep on the back seat while you and James sat in front.
“Is this what you did with your family when you were a child?”
“Yes, my dad taught me how to ride a bike. Sometimes we’ll go to the movies, swimming, hiking. How about you?”
You shifted in your seat, heart beating loudly. You thought you’ve gotten over it, for fuck’s sake, it was a very long time ago! “No, we don’t… we didn’t do any of those things.” You glanced away.
You felt something warm envelope your hand. You turned and saw James leaning close. “It doesn’t really matter what you do, doll. It doesn’t matter if what you did was different; what’s important is you had a connection.”
You nodded at his comforting words.
“Now, let’s go home. I bet you’re tired.

Mismatch- Part 23
Bio dad Bruce Wayne month 2020
.............. (:
First< Previous > Next
-------------------------
“How long were we gone?” Marion asks her, as they run through the halls back to class.
“Ahhhh,” The Akuma hadn’t been that hard but it still took time, “forty-three minutes,”
“It’s not that bad,” Marion shrugs, slipping as they turn the corner.
“Not that good either,”
“Now what would make you say that?”
“Marinette! Marion!” Lila’s shrinking greets them the second they open the classroom door, “Why would you leave me to do all the work?”
“Oh I see,” Marion whispers to her, she gives an ‘I told you so’ look.
“They had already completed more work in the three minutes they were here than you have in the past forty,” Damian sneers, Marinette watches with amusement as Lila visibly forces down the snarl.
“It’s meant to be a group project,” Lila’s lip quivers as they reluctantly take a seat at the table.
“Is that why you’ve spent the whole time talking to others and stealing their ideas?” Damian raises a brow, and hot damn if only she could film this.
“I wasn't stealing them, they wanted to help me out since my group abandoned me” Lila turns ‘innocent’ eyes to the tables near them, “Right guys?”
“I never said you could use our ideas,” One of the Gotham students looks upset as she talks.
“Plus you didn’t actually talk about the project only yourself,”  The other says, focusing on the worksheet in front of them.
“You could have at least tried to join another group,” Damian points out, gaming back Lila’s attention as she tries to defend herself, something about not wanting to upset the twins.
“Do you guys not like Lila?” Mylene, who was put with the students asks.
“Not really,” The second one shrugs, looking up from his worksheet for Mylene, “all she does is talk about herself and try to guilt you into feeling sorry for her,”
“Huh, I guess” Mylene shrugs, Marinette doubted they could break her out of Lila’s web, “Well Lila has a lot of achievement even with her disabilities,”
“Yeah, I don’t know,” Mylene looks shocked at the first Gotham students' tone.
“Mm, you get kind of good at reading people growing up in Gotham,” The other says, leaning back in his seat, “I would avoid her when walking down the street,”
Marinette looks away from their conversation, not wanting to see that look on Mylene’s face any longer. Instead, she focuses back on Damian and Lila still locked in a heated argument.
“Someone looks like their about to murder Lila,”
“Oh sorry, I’ll reel it in,” Marion says deadpan, not looking up from his paper.
“Not you, him,” Marinette nudges him, making him look towards the pair.
“Oh,” Marinette can only sigh as a grin splits his face, “You want me to handle it?”
“Are you going to diffuse the situation or focus the blood lust on yourself?” Marinette asks instead.
“Hahaha, don’t be ridiculous,” Marion’s grin widens as he bounces over to the pair, leaning against Damian’s head, “Hey Dami,”
“Cheng-Dupain,” Damian tries to glare at him, giving Lila the chance to escape, naturally going crying to Rose and Alya, “Why do you insist on clinging to me?”
“Ummm, cause it annoys you why else?” Marion leans over to get in his face, not shrinking away from the scowl.
“Dupain-Cheng can you explain his behavior?” Damian turns to her, even under the weight of Marion.
“No, but he backs off if you hit him hard enough,” Marinette slides into the chair across from him, curiously his group members nowhere to be seen.
“Nette how could you!” Marion places a hand on his heart, “I am insulted you would think so little of my dedication,”
“So I cannot remove him by force?” Damian asks despondently.
“No, he’s like a leech-”
“Hey!”
“-He’ll fall off when he wants to,” Marinette shrugs, fiddling with her backpack.
“Everyone is so mean to me Dami!” Marion collapses against him, although he doesn't sag under the weight, “Don’t you feel sorry for me?”
“I do not,” Damian tuts, focusing on his book, “Do not call me Dami,”
“I’ll stop calling you Dami when you call me what I want,”
“And what would that be?” Damian asks with disinterest.
“Big brother,” Marinette gives him a warning look, just getting a wink in return.
“Absolutely not,” Damian snaps, trying again to push him off, not that Marion will budge, “We aren't even related, Dupain-Cheng tell him-”
“Big sister, call me big sister,” The look of utter betrayal on his face was completely worth it.
“I thought you had more sense than to feed into this rumor,”
Won't be a rumor for long
“Think of it as reverse psychology then,” Marinette shrugs instead, that news would come later today.
“That is unlikely to work,”
“What if we called you little brother then?” Marion leans back over into his line of sight.
“ No ,”
“No fun,” Marion shakes his head.
“No fun at all,” Marinette agrees.
“Cheng-Dupain you are an idiot,”
“Is that so?” Marion grins, getting up but not before ruffling Damian’s hair.
They watch as he practically skips to the front of the room handing a stack of papers over to the teacher with a flourish. They read over it with a frown that slowly melts into approval. Even if they can’t hear they can tell Marion is being congratulated, confirmed by him walking back seconds later with a smug grin. While the rest of the class rushes to finish off the project.
“What now little brother?”
“Impressive,” Damian's tone doesn't betray any sense of being impressed, “Of course I finished it in the first fifteen minutes of class,”
“Dami, I haven't even been here for fifteen minutes!” Marion cries out, taking a seat at the table instead.
“Tt” Damian reluctantly admits, “... that is true,”
“Are you conceding defeat?”
“ No ,”
“I think that's a yes,” Marion nods wisely under Damian’s glare, pointing to Marinette, “Nette write this down,”
“I hereby officially declare Marion the winner of the first challenge issued,” Marinette recites, doing her best loopy handwriting in her sketchbook, “As such he has the ability to bring this up every time Damian calls him an idiot, this will be valid for three years,”
“I never issued a challenge,” Damian’s face twists up, still looking betrayed that Marinette would go along with Marion’s game, but it looked like Damian needed some fun in his life anyway.
“Is that really how you want to spend your objection?” She asks instead, rolling up the paper and handing it to Marion.
“... Three years is excessive,” Damian corrects, just as the bell rings.
“Ops too late, bells going!” Marion jumps up before he can protest further, “Alright let’s go!”
With that Marion starts pushing Damian out of the classroom. They get halfway out of the building before Damian breaks off to grab something before leaving. The twins loiter around in the empty halls while Damian takes his sweet time.
“Uh-oh, Satan's envy approaching,” Marinette doesn't need to look down the hall to know Lila is headed their way.
“Hi Lila, can we help you?” She asks politely, but not polite enough to look at her as she does.
“Just because these stupid Gotham kids don’t believe me don’t think anything has changed,” Lila finally release all the spite that had built up over class into her tone. At this point, Marinette was willing to bet they were a form of stress relief for her.
“Are they stupid?” Marion considers, leaning against the wall, “They don’t believe you, I would guess that's the bare minimum of intelligence,”
“Everything will go back to normal at the end of the week!” Lila shrieks, “Well leave Gotham, I’ll make up some lie about you and everyone will hate you again!”
“Lila, what makes you think we care anymore?” Marion drawls, honestly they had much bigger things to worry about today than Lila, “It’s been so long I have no desire to be their friend again,”
“Then I’ll have to step it up!” Lila smiles nastily, Marinette catches Damian at the end of the hall phone out and has to keep the smile off her face, “Everyone will hate you so much they’ll really bully you and make your lives miserable! Do all the things I say you do to me!”
“Like push you down the stairs?” Marinette raises a brow, subtly nudging Marion to look at Damian.
“Yes,” Lila crosses her arms, looking smug.
“And destroy your property?” Marion catches on, even braving a little wave to the camera.
“Yes,” Lila scowls like they’re stupid for not understanding.
“Spread nasty rumors about you?”
“Yes!” She snaps at Marinette.
“Every time you’ve ever lied that we were mean to you?”
“Yes!”
“Great,” Marinette claps her hands, looking over to Damian. “You got all that?”
“I did indeed,” Lila pales as he comes up behind her, “I suggest you keep to yourself and not influence my decision on what to do with this footage more so,”
“I- you can’t- wait!”
“Get out of my sight,” Damian scowls, it being a lot more effective on her than Marion as Lila scuttles away.
“Dami have I told you that I love you?” Marion grins, giving Damian a side hug.
“Don’t be melodramatic,” Damian tries to push him off but Marion just latches on tighter.
“I loooovvvvveeeeee you soooooooo much,”
“That's it I’m no longer sending this footage to your class,”
“Dami nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,”
Marion somehow, somehow manages to keep it up until they reach the car. Alfred promptly forces Marion to drink a glass of water much to Damian's relief. Since Marion had ruined his voice with his little stunt there wasn't anyone to fill the silence. Marinette kept trying to distract herself, looking out the window and fidgeting with her clothes, they were in for quite the show, which would be great if they weren’t the main attraction.
Marinette can see Damian keep glancing over at her. She can see how he goes to say something several times before stopping himself. It breaks her heart to see him become more downcast the longer they ignore him. She looks to Marion for support, but he just taps his fingers to an erratic beat. He meets her eye just grimacing, she nods relieving the pressure from him. The atmosphere in the car grows stifling on the too-long journey to Wayne Manor. Marion practically leaps out of the car before the car even rolls to a stop.
Marinette follows Damian out of the car, watching as he walks more stiffly to the manor. She follows without the easy silence they usually have. They are guided to a room where everyone was waiting, technically family or not Bruce had given them a brief of every last one, and had likely done the same for them.
“What's going on?” Is Jason's immediate question, Selina slips into the room behind them.
“Is this about the rumor?” Tim asks, papers in one hand coffee in the other.
“Yes!” Marion points at him, nervous energy coming through his erratic movements, “And no,”
“It's really less of a rumor and more a very lucky guess,” Or unlucky depending on how this goes , Marinette adds privately.
“…. What?” Dick asks confused, everyone else either in thought or with dawning realization/horror.
Bruce slides a sheet of paper forward, on it a genetics test she isn't going to ask how he got a hold of.
“WHAT!” is chorused across the room, making Marinette flinch at the noise.
“Welcome to the family,” Dick pulls the two into a group hug, and is this what Damian feels like when Marion hangs off of him? The big brother hug?
“Wait... but who…” Tim trails off, looking far too tired for this conversation.
“Selina,” Bruce looks uncomfortable with all eyes snapping to them.
“Of course,” Jason mutters with a surprising amount of venom, knuckles white.
“This is unacceptable!” Is Damian’s outcry hands slamming onto the DNA test, she can feel Marion flinch beside her.
“How long have you known?” Dick turns hurt puppy dog eyes to Bruce, the hurt behind it making even Marinette’s stomach churn.
“What about-” Jason cuts himself off, glancing at the twins mysteriously.
“Excuse me” The twins jump at Alfred’s voice talking quietly to them, they get released by Dick who goes to Damian, getting brushed off, “But it may be best to give them all some time to process,”
They nod, slipping out of the room with the butler, leaving behind a mess of yelling as the door closes. They stand outside in silence for a moment before Marion breaches it.
“Well… that went well,”
“Ah Patrol the perfect place to ignore feelings and take them out on other people,” Marion stretches, looking over Gotham city. Marinette shakes her head at his antics, focusing instead on the fight in the alley below.
“Seems like we’re not the only ones,” She watches as Robin tears through the goons one by one, alone with violence she hasn't seen from him yet. Marion looks down as well, being the first willing to get in between the angry Robin and his angst.
“Hey there little bird,” Songbird drops down into the alley, Robin doesn't even spare the two a glance, “Let's try not to give the doctors a harder time than usual kay? I mean it’s Monday no one wants to deal with that,”
“It’s Tuesday,” Robin smashes another face in as if the date was the main complaint about what he was doing.
“Right, regardless, what's up?” Sparrow moves forward to take down the last thug in a much… nicer way.
“Nothing,” They both match him with equal stares of disbelief until he caves, “... my position is being challenged,”
“For Robin?” Songbird asks, something in Robin’s posture gives him away, “I know we joked about the name but we weren’t-”
“Not you,” He snaps, grappling hook taking him out the alley.
“Civilian life then?” Sparrow guesses, following him onto the rooftops, “We know a thing or two about that,”
Robin ignores them speeding up to run across Gotham. They let him for a while going to a spot that had a great view of the city. Marionette nods at Songbird when Robin lands on a gargoyle.
“I don’t know who they are, so I can’t speak for them,” Songbird lands in front, cutting off the best exit for Robin to jump to the next building, ignoring his look of irritation, “But I know you’re amazing and skilled enough not to be replaced,”
“Doesn't matter, that's just the way things go,” Sparrow lands behind them, crossing her arms as Robin seems to debate with himself, “Besides... it’s not just regarding skill,”
“Did you talk to them about it?” She asks, he pivots around to look at her, or rather glare, “Do you even know they want to take your place?”
“... No,”
“Alright then, just consider that maybe they’re not trying to hurt you,” Songbird rests a hand on his shoulder, which he surprisingly allows. He guides Robin to sit down as they do, looking over the city from atop the gargoyle.
“... This is how all the other Robins have been replaced,” He says after a time.
“And what? After that they all went ‘oh well guess it’s time to live a quiet life’,” Songbird’s comment lessens Robins frown, it might even be able to be classified as a smile for him.
“No, of course not,”
“Then there's no need to worry,” Songbird shrugs, kicking his legs no fear for the street far below him. “If you do get replaced, and I don’t think you will,” Sparrow adds quickly, “I have no doubt you will become something even greater,”
“... I’m meant to become Batman, it’s my birthright, and now it’s being challenged,” Robin reveals likely fatal information in the wrong hands, she prided herself in the trust that he thought they were the right hands.
“Again, talk to them about it,” Marinette suggests, rubbing a small circle into his shoulder.
“... They don’t even know?” To that Songbird bursts with laughter, offense crossing Robin's face.
“They don’t know then why are you panicking?” He laughs, lessening the tension in the air, “You’re worried they’re going to claim a title they don’t even know about,”
“....” Robin goes silent after that and they let him mull it over for some time. Marinette can tell Marion is judging when it’s best to pull him out of his spiraling thoughts.
“Heard you beat Sparrow on the swings,” He says randomly, looking out over the city, “Bet I could top you,”
“Yeah right,” Robin scoffs, relaxing a bit as he is broken from his thoughts.
“Well you see I have a secret,” Songbird conspires in a soft tone, despite literally no one being around to hear.
“And what would that be?” Robin sounds condescending, but she picks up the hint of keenness underneath it all.
“Singing,” His grin gives Robin pause.
“First of all that's a horrible strategy, putting energy towards singing instead of swinging,” Robin decides after a minute, “Second you’re horrible at secrets,”
I’ll have you know I’m an excellent secret keeper,” Songbird stands, ruffling Robins hair despite the look of indignation he gives,  “So rest assured this conversation stays between us,”
“... All of Gotham is going to know by the end of the night aren't they?” Robin gives Sparrow a flat look, she smiles.
“Yep,”
“HEy!”
