the only advertising i am not immune to is when a company Commissions a Song or Several from an indie musician to promote their product

Examples:

Fallen London had The Stupendium make a song for Mask of the Rose I have listened to it approx 100 thousand times and i got back into Fallen London AND I bought Mask of the Rose because of it

Magic: The Gathering got Sapphire, Annapantsu, and Jonathan Young (and others!) to make an album for the New Capenna set and I bought myself a proper Magic deck as a result (the Kamigawa album is also good!)

Whoever figured out that paying these artists to do the shit they were already gonna deserved a raised.
