Just to preference alot of this is my interpretations/HCs/OC and very little of it is cannonical character analysis:

So her name is Penelope Esther Goldman but she just goes by her middle name Esther, as a funny little nod to know SK and Neil are both named Neil, she shares a name with Mrs Priss and I think I had them go to the same collage or something, might have to do the math on their ages again to see if that lines up

(I HC Carl's last name is Pasternak and Neil's is both, hyphenated.)

She's a incredibly intelligent scientist with extensive knowledge in biology, robotics, chemistry, ect ect. Esther doesn't really emote or exspress her emotions in her voice or face much at all, or well.

Carl when they first met was smitten, he was a groovy goofy goober and still is. He'd do that walrus thing with breadsticks in public at restaurants. He'd skate around with a fanny pack dancing to bee gees. Convince her to go to parties and she'd just be pleasantly content to stand there as he's like "that's fine I can dance enough for the both of us/pos" She had to pass a first aid course and he guided her arms and taught her you can keep the proper rhythm by singing Stayin Alive. He was just really persistent and really sweet and he grew on her okay 😭

Esther didn't really have a respect for philosophy because she didn't really grasp it's value or importance. As she grew to respect him more that sortaa changed.

They eventually got married and really kick-started both of their careers along the way.

(cw miscarriage implications for this next part) Neil's a rainbow baby that happened after several pregnancy losses. It may have been one of the things to strain their marriage but what really ended up doing it in was just the simple fact of life people change and grow apart and can fall out of love so now they can't really interact with each other for long. Their differences and flaws now clash and they butt heads instead of being complimentary.

I'm a firm believer the episode where each camper takes care of an egg they were reflecting their own parents. Carl is embarrassing but he's almost the exact opposite of a smotherer that Neil was showcased to be. His overall parenting style is like he's way more concerned about being Neil's friend than anything.

Esther is the one he's mirroring, here. She treats him like he's fragile almost. She gives him specific everything, down to his bedsheet thread count, knows how to cater to his living needs inside and out. Esther struggles to connect with anyone emotionally, though so her affection in the verbal department isn't as maintained. This never really bothers Neil, it doesn't register as "smothering" to him how much she shelters or caters to him. Because this isn't a kid interested in joining sports he could get hurt in and likes everything in a specific way anyways.

She's more aware socially than Carl is and knows how to not embarrass him in general.

Esther is Neil's biggest role model he wants to be just like her and is mad when he isn't, when he fails to be. He's upset even physically the only thing they share are the eyes. ((Regularly you can't even see Esther's I couldn't help myself in the art above from making them visible/forgot on the cc one but it's supposed to be a bit on "eyes are a window to the soul" thing and she's just that closed off and unreadable. Really only has a soft spot for Neil))

His mother is incredibly intelligent, and just seems so collected to him all the time.. and importantly not over emotional like he can be (his temper specifically.) and ESPECIALLY how emotional his dad can be.

I just love!! Character parallels!!!! How Carl is this emotional goofy person who joked around and danced and played music everywhere and Esther got regarded as "cold" and stiff and Neil is just both of them bc he's so smart but he's also silly. Like he plays video games and gets passionate over little things and allthat and it embarrasses him secretly sometimes, he wishes he could chill out and be like his mother. But the parts of him that reflect his father have always been the parts Esther always loved the most and found endearing. He doesn't know that though.

Neil to an extent even secretly believes if he didn't have his big brain and academic achievements him and his mother wouldn't have this close relationship because this is their shared quality. This is what makes her proud. He's so scared to lose that or disappoint her.

At the same time it doesn't stop him from pinning his parents against each other a bit from time to time. As he knows Esther's go-to move is to spoil him to win.

OK ITS MY BLOG AND IM TALKING ABOUT SPIDER-MAN (can't forget the hyphen between spider and man) AND SPIDER-MAN SUITS NOW

this was copy pasted from me talking about it to people and i wanna share it here for anyone who cares and this is literally just me rambling because i want to and i love spider-man and im not a lore master so don't be mad when i mess up my lore

One of my favorite spiderman suits/characters is Spiderman 2099 aka Miguel O’Hara. He’s a guy from the year 2099 where the modern day heroes have passed and we live in a cyberpunk world p much. He works at a big company and pisses off the big boss who gets him addicted to a drug that like chemically bonds to your dna. He goes in a machine that’s supposed to change his dna back but it accidentally gives him spider powers. He can shoot webs (whereas peter uses webshooters), gets sharp claws and teeth and super fast relexes. He like peter is a bit of a cunt. Fun fact his suit was originally a dia de los muertos costume that he repurposed. It was also originally supposed to be black and shown with blue highlights but over time it’s been changed to just blue.

My other favorite suit for spiderman is the Scarlet Spider suit. This is from a guy named Ben Reilly who's a clone of peter parker (it's a whole thing). But anyways he realizes he's a clone and goes off to try and live his own life. He changes his name to Ben Reilly because of Uncle Ben and then Reilly because that's Aunt May's maiden name. He dyes his hair blonde and changes his name which is such a trans mood. Even tho he's distinguishing himself from who he "used to be" (read who he's cloned from) and that person is the same gender as him. It still feels very much transitional because changing your name and hair to me feels trans like (I also HC peter as trans a lot anyways sooooooooooo). But while he's trying to live his own life he says he doesn't want to be a hero. But lo and behold people are in trouble and he can't help himself so he heroes again. It's supposed to be a makeshift shoddy suit but I love the way it looks. He actually invents new types of webshooter stuff the the OG peter hadn't thought of too.

I don't like a lot of what they've done w his character cause they've killed him off so many times and also made him a villain twice but I just ignore it and think about the parts I like

At one point he takes over as The Spider-Man and uses this suit which I also think is cool but I like the scarlet spider suit more

In one comic line we see Peter Parker's daughter use Ben's suit after he's passed away which is also cool (yes it's kinda titty-ish which is an issue but I still enjoy her)

another suit i like is the superior spiderman suit from when doc ock body jacked peter parker. There are a couple things I like from the arc and many I don't but I do like the suit design

dad!dean and baby jack hcs

alright everybody strap in this is gonna be a long post

- okay so FIRST OF ALL, jack decides his own last name once he’s old enough, because cas and dean didn’t want to force him into one. this is jack’s trans arc: choosing his last name. just a fun joke for yall. anyways he cannot decide so he ends up hyphenating. hyphenating EVERY LAST NAME of every person he loves

- jack kline-leahy-novak-singer-winchester walks up to 1st grade with his little monogrammed backpack and Every Other Parent just has to take a pause

- (on official documents, he’s jack novak-winchester. he cant fit all the letters :( makes him sad)

- when he gets a little older, he decides he’s going to combine all the last names into one. this takes him Weeks because he has very specific thoughts on the personality of each letter. dean is Confused but cas gets it (”a’s a very tricky letter to wrangle”)

- okay i have personalities in my head for numbers so i think jack has that w letters and so he’s like “i’m gonna take CH from winchester because if not then WI will be jealous and-” dean voice son what the fuck does that mean

- dean is So Nervous about being a dad because he doesn’t want to continue the cycle his dad started, so he’s hypervigilant about everything he says and does with jack

- the first time he hold him, dean refuses to move an INCH because he’s so worried about screwing it up

- when jack takes his first steps, they’re towards dean. and when he starts to fall, dean is there to catch him

- jack’s first word is “daddy?” quickly followed by “papa!” dean smiles so wide his face hurts

- (dean is dad/daddy, cas is papa. these are the vibes in my Heart so they are correct)

- (sam is upset because he was trying to manipulate jack into having “sammy” as his first word. “no ice cream for you now, jack. no, don’t pout, i TOLD you that-”)

- for jack’s fifth birthday, they go to disneyland and dean tells him and cas that they have to carry their own bags the whole time because he’s not gonna carry everything for them-

- approximately an hour later, the trio’s in line for the dumbo ride and dean is carrying his child’s backpack, his fanny pack, and cas’s backpack too. he complains but secretly enjoys it because it makes him feel loved (acts of service is his love language)

- jack wants to wear a princess dress to school and dean is Conflicted because on one hand, he’s still trying to learn from and overcome his own issues with masculinity and the voice of j*hn in his head is like “this is a BOY he cannot wear that” but on the OTHER hand, that’s his kid, thats his baby, jack can do whatever he wants dean loves him oh so much,,,,,

- in the end, jack wears the dress to school and dean has the revelation that he can do that too which leads to him and jack in matching cinderella dresses at the 7-11

- alright thats all i have for now i may add to this someday though because <3 dean winchester Deserves children and jack is the cutest child ever

Hc on ethan and beccas vows??

every time i write these two getting married its always a shotgun wedding... so let me preface this with: sorry. 

Ethan and Becca’s Wedding Vows

Ethan and Becca got married rather quickly. Only having less than 32 hours before they were due at the courthouse. 

That was barely enough time to sort out the flowers and dress and hair and nail appointment Becca was adamant on having. 

“I’m only doing this once. I want it to be perfect.”  He came up and held her from behind, “We can still have the big wedding.”  “Yeah... But I only get to legally marry you once.” 

Ethan knew it was a cop out; packing up and running away to make this official. He was taking everything away from her that she wished and wanted for longer than they’ve been together. 

Becca happily followed. As much as she wanted the whole fairytale reception, she wanted to be Ethan’s wife more. 

The whole evening before, they talked about the details and made sure they had all their documents ready. 

“Should I sign with your last name?”  “I thought you weren’t going to change your name?” “I was thinking of hyphenating. I got the solitary dweller, Ethan Ramsey, to settle down. I’m wearing your name like a gold medal.”  “That gold and diamond ring doesn’t count?” 

They parted ways for a few hours the next morning while she got all dolled up for their short ceremony. 

They met inside the reception area of the city call before walking upstairs to the courthouse where they and seven other couples would be married. 

The ceremony was 25 minutes of standard protocol. Basic vows and nothing really extraordinary, they at least got to exchange rings Ethan ran to pick up that morning. It was the least he could do. 

They were the third couple to be married that day. 

They stepped up to the officiant’s podium when their names were called. Ethan had her right hand gripped firmly in his the entire time. 

The officiant began with the standard question of recognition to them both: 

Officiant: Do you take Ethan/Rebecca, to be your Husband/Wife? “I do.” Officiant: Do you promise to love, honor, cherish and protect him/her, forsaking all other and holding only unto him/her? “I do”

Then he asked if they were planning on exchanging rings. 

Becca began to shake her head but Ethan was quicker with his “yes”.

Ethan stole a glance at her as he fished the two boxes from his pocket. It was the best decision he ever made - the wonderous awe glittering in her irises made everything worth it.  

If it was even possible, Becca fell a little more in love with him at that moment. 

He handed the ring meant for him to her and she held the precious metal delicately between her thumb and forefinger. 

She met his eyes and asked a slew of silent questions. 

All Ethan did was smile. 

Officiant: The wedding ring is a symbol of unity, a circle unbroken, without beginning or end. And today, Ethan and Rebecca give and receive these rings as demonstrations of their vows to make their life one, to work at all times to create a love that is whole and unbroken, and to love each other without end.

Their eyes never left one another. All the love coursing through and circling them. Circumstance and situation meant nothing, they were taking the plunge. They were happy. 

Officiant: repeat after me; Ethan/Rebecca, I take you to be my lawfully wedded husband/wife. Before these witnesses, I vow to love you and care for you as long as we both shall live. I take you, with all your faults and strengths, as I offer myself to you with all my faults and strengths. I will help you when you need help, and will turn to you when I need help. I choose you as the person with whom I will spend my life. 

And they did. 

They happily repeated the words as they slipped the bits of metal that signified their eternal love onto the other’s finger. 

Ethan held her hands perfectly in his as the officiant closed the ceremony: 

Officiant: Love should be the core of your marriage, love is the reason you are here. But it also will take trust- to know in your hearts you want the best for each other. It will take dedication- to stay open to one another; to learn and to grow together even when this is not always so easy to do. In addition, it will take commitment, to hold true to the journey, you both now pledge to share together. 

They have trust. They had dedication and equal priorities, but still so much more to learn and grow together. They know they have commitment and they’ll have to work every day to prove to one another - to work through their insecurities and stubbornness. To never run away again. This was for life. 

And standing together they vowed   

Officiant: Ethan and Rebecca, in so much as the two of you have agreed to live together in Matrimony, have promised your love for each other by these vows, I now declare you to be Husband and Wife. 

The officiant took a pause and looked between the two before him. He saw Ethan Ramsey take a small step forward and Rebecca Lao begin to rise on the tips of her toes. The smile on their faces and twinkle in their eyes - of a couple completely in love - was what made him love this job. 

And finally, sensing the wonton anticipation, the officiant announced; 

Officiant: Congratulations, you may kiss your bride.

The kiss was tender, restrained yet so full of emotion. Ethan’s right hand cupping her face and Becca’s hand holding onto his while the other gripped at his lapel. 

They’d never had a kiss like this before. 

When they broke the all too short kiss Ethan rested his forehead against hers, letting it all sink in. It really happened. 

The officiant cleared his throat and the couple got the message. 

They walked out of the courthouse arm in arm and forever ahead of them.

-Eijirou had always wanted a lot of kids

-and Katsuki can't say no to his husband

-so there's 5 of them

-their kids call them Papa (Eijirou) and Dad (Katsuki)

-the first one is a girl

-she's just a copy-paste katsuki (personality wise) but with a better attitude

-they were figuring out how to raise kids

-they did pretty well, I think

-Her quirk is Fragmentation (She can make spikes on her body, then shoot them off like missles)

-her name is Mieko (Already Prosperous)

-the second one was a boy

-he ended up much more like Eijirou

-overall a radical little dude

-his quirk is Lavanic (he secretes lava like how Mina secretes acid)

-his name is Akio (Bright Man; Manly; Hero)

-Shouto was worried when Izuku brought up the prospect of having kids

-he didn't want to fuck them up because he had a terrible dad

-"Izuku you didn't have a dad and I wish I didn't have a dad we're gonna fuck up this poor kid"

-Izuku respected his wishes and accepted the fact that they probably wouldn't have kids

-until Shouto had a chat with Natsuo (after Natsu became a dad)

-"Here's how I think of it, little bro; I'm gonna be the best fucking dad to this kid to show Endeavor that no matter how badly he fucked me up, I can still be happy with a better family than he will ever have"

-that certainly changed Shouto's perspective on things

-Since Ochako and Tsuyu didn't take each other's last names, their kids have alternating last names

-Takiyo and Tsuki have the Asui last name, and Ezumo has the Uraraka last name

SHINKAMISERO

-Denki and Hanta were the ones most excited to have kids at first, and Hitoshi was like 'cool go nuts I'll help raise them'

-So, biologically, their first kid's parents are Hanta and Denki

-but he's still very close to Hitoshi

-he looks and acts a lot like Hanta

-he's an all around sk8r boi

-his quirk is Electric Tape (basically Hanta's quirk but he can send and harness electricity via his tape)

-His name is Takeo (Warrior)

-one day when he was young, he had a really bad nightmare, and the only one of his dads awake was Hitoshi (since he's an insomniac)

-Hitoshi listened to his boy's rambling, and told him that no matter what monster or villain comes after him, he promises that he'd always protect him

-but one day, some B-tier villains broke into their home while Hanta and Denki were out doing Hero things

-Hitoshi tried to take them down, but they anticipated fighting him and had a strategy to take him down and ended up knocking him out

-when he was woken up by the police, they discovered that Takeo had been taken by the villains

-for five days, the villains had held him for ransom

-and for those five days, Hitoshi worked literally non-stop to try and track down and rescue Takeo

-after those five days, they ended up paying the ransom, and Takeo was returned to the police and his family safely

-except for a large gash on his shoulder he got during the initial break-in

-the whole event deterred Hitoshi from having more kids

-he was very anxious about being there for Takeo, and Hanta and Denki understood that

-so he and his husbands didn't have kids for like 15 years

AOMINA

-since I HC that Yuuga is graysexual, he didn't really vibe with kids for a while after they were married

-but Mina was totally fine with that!

-"hey it means I can still say fuck in my own house it's cool it's cool"

-although when Mina expressed further interest in kids a bit down the line, Yuuga was like "mmmmokay why not"

-and they had a girl!

-she has pink skin and weird eyes like Mina, but blonde hair and purple eyes like Yuuga!

-she also doesn't have horns

-she's very much like Mina

-she comes off as narcissistic at times, but she just has enough self-confidence for two people

-her quirk is Glo Splash (from one side of her body, she secretes one of the chemicals that make up the liquid in glow sticks, and the other half of her secretes the other chemical. She can mix them together to make it glow!)

-since Tooru was already pregananant when they got married, their first kid was quite a tad older than the majority of their Classmate's kids

- Spot, Crutchie, Smalls, and Jack are all adopted siblings, Medda was their foster parent and ended up slowly adopting all four of them. All of their last names end with hyphen Larkin.

- JACK IS A HIMBO and i will NOT accept anything else

- Jack is hispanic :))

- Jack has adhd and hes so valid for it

- Smalls is infact, a child.

[HC] Different Aspects of Mara throughout Tamriel

the idea that such varied cultures all worship the exact same goddess in the exact same way is,,, kinda sad. where’s the variety?? the culture influencing worship?? you could explain it with imperial colonialism but,, why would you want to?

so i’ve done what i do best - completely ignored canon and re-written the entire deity almost all of this has been made up so don’t expect many connections to canon

also a lot of the names are taken directly or inspired by irl goddesses - but then again bethesda literally just copied and pasted the Virgin Mary as imperial Mara and left the fandom to make her interesting so i think its alright

very quick (i promise) explanation of how divinity works in my version

I’ll make this quick i promise. Basically, Worship = Divinity. If a culture believes a god is dead, that god cannot interact with them anymore. if a culture believes a god has has a different purpose/sphere, that god is created. these gods all exist at the same time, because someone believes they do.

the aspects, in order of similarity to the original spirit

Originally, even before the creation of Nirn, all the original spirits - et’ada - were born. How this came about varies from culture to culture, but one thing is agreed: all original spirits had hyphenated names. Prominent examples of this are the spirits who remained; not becoming spirits or gods of oblivion and Nirn, Merid-Nunda, Zero-Lyg, Mnemo-Li. As such, the original spirit of “Mara” had a different name:

Ame-no-Astarte

Worshipped in: No longer worshipped, early Merethic Summerset

Sphere(s): The Dawn

Epithets: N/A (would have some i just cant think of any JSHDSJH)

Ame-no-Astarte was the spirit of dawn - opposite to Azure-Ai, spirit of dusk. She was one of the et’ada who remained present on Tamriel even during the early stages of humanity, such as Tekuta-no-Trinimac and Boethiah (idk what i want their original name to be JHSDSJ). She was the bride of the golden knight Tekuta-no-Trinimac, devout wife, and loving mother of the Isles. They were planning to become parents of their very own divine children when the second Aldmeri civil war erupted (the first being the rebellion that would become the Maormer) and her husband was slain by Boethiah while trying to halt the Velothi schism. As original et’ada, time did not affect them as it did mortals, causing a Dragon-Break, where each of her reactions occurred at the same time. All aspects of this goddess descend from this major split.

Trivia:

In all fragments, she loses her physical body, making her the same as the other aedra. Also Malacath is still a thing in all of these, he’s just a fragment of Tekuta-no-Trinimac like all these aspects are of Ame-no-Astarte.

Tekuta-no-Trinimac had a dress made for her that included every colour dawn could paint the sky, matching her hair.

After the Dragon Break, all of her fragments lost their association with dawn. As such, Azura took on the sphere of dawn, adding to her original sphere of dusk.

Ameauralia

Worshipped in: Modern Summerset, Valenwood, High Rock, Ayleid Cyrodiil

Sphere(s): Love, Compassion, Femininity, Motherhood, Children, Bloodlines, Marriage

Epithets: “Divine Widow”, “Weeping Mother”

What happened next according to the Altmeri mythos: Ame-no-Astarte’s grief led her to take her own life to re-connect with her lost love. Here both her and Tekuta-no-Trinimac were given their new names that marked them not as original spirits, but as ancestors: Ameauralia and Trinimac. (It’s also around this time that Aldmer become known as Altmer). She and Trinimac are worshipped as examples of ascension back to the elves’ previous, non-mortal forms, and while Auriel (formerly Auri-El) is regarded as the king of the gods, Ameauralia, Trinimac, and Amaranthine (Altmeri Dibella, i’ll do a post on her at some point i promise JHSDSH) are regarded as the gods of the People and Altmeri culture. She is often depicted in a mourning veil, carrying the baby she never got to bare.

Trivia:

In Tamriel, the word for women who love women (aka irl sapphic) is “Auralian”. In altmeri culture, it’s described as “girlish love”. Due to her associations with femininity, she is described in some circles as the patron of Auralians.

Matriarchs of noble families will pray to Ameauralia for fertility and healthy children to pass on the bloodline.

Some isolated communities place Xarxes, god of geneology and history, as the secret son of Ameauralia and Trinimac, though this has never been accepted by the primary faith.

In altmeri faith, Merid-Nunda is seen as the mother of divines, and Ameauralia is seen as the mother of mortals.

Aurora of the Gardens

Worshipped in: Modern Cyrodiil, Hammerfell

Sphere(s): Love, Compassion, Motherhood, Children, Marriage, Innocence, Peace

Epithets: “of the Gardens”, “Lady Love”, “Mother Mild”, “Meek Lady”

What happened next according to imperial mythos: after the death of Trinimac, the spirit came into the light of Akatosh, relinquishing her spirit name, taking on the name Aurora. Over the years, she would forget her divine husband. This is the Mara we know from canon. She would aid Alessia in the uprising against the Ayleids, and enforce the laws of Akatosh within her chantry. Both Nordic and Altmeri culture alike call her the “watered down Mara/Ameauralia” respectively, and see her as a weak and feeble shadow of their “true” goddess.

Trivia:

All of her shrines, chapels, and places of worship are located outside, if possible. If not, they are littered with flowers - both growing and cut - on every shrine, surface, and wall.

Her sacred animal is the dove.

She is usually depicted wearing a veil for modesty, and some priests or worshippers will wear a variety of head-coverings to honour this, if they choose.

While many other goddesses are depicted in a variety of ways, to depict Aurora in the nude is considered a slight against her image. As such, all artwork depicting her as such are banned and confiscated.

While roses are seen as hedonistic and symbols of the “evil” daedra Sanguine and Azura in Colovia and the Heartlands (Nibenay worships both these deities so is not included here, i’ll do a post on the Nibenese pantheon eventually) Aurora is associated with every other type of flower, hence her epithet “of the Gardens”.

As a result of this, brides and/or grooms will decorate themselves and the venue in flowers during their wedding day. This ranges from a floral wreath (such as the one worn by Vittoria Vici), flowers woven into the hair or fabric of clothing, or a simple flower tucked behind the ear.

In Nibenay, she and Amaranth (Nibenean Dibella) are patrons of a local festival called Flower Day, where people will grind flower petals into a dye, or just use the petals, and throw them at others, or into the air, filling the day with colour. (Very obviously inspired by the Hindu Holi Day, definitely read up on it if you have time it’s a really interesting tradition)

Mara

Worshipped in: Skyrim, Merethic Atmora

Sphere(s): Love, Compassion, Motherhood, Children, Marriage, Community, Crafting, Weaving, Animal Husbandry, Loyalty, Protection, War

Epithets: “Mother-Wolf” “Craftmother”

What happened next according to the Nordic mythos: Overcome with love and rage for her lost husband, Ame-no-Astarte, now a widow, abandoned Summerset to seek out the First Widow, Kyne. Kyne gave her a new name, Mara, and instructed her to create herself anew - a goddess not draped in fineries and silk, but fur and armour. After a meeting with Hircine, she was gifted two wolves and the knowledge of turning hide to armour, and she vowed herself to Kyne, the Nordic people, and her new husband Tsun, who was originally Trinimac, and had vowed himself to Shor just like Mara had to Kyne. She is one of the biggest cornerstones of nordic faith, behind her matron Kyne.

Trivia:

Mara and Tsun are one of the reasons for the centuries of fighting between the Nords and the Dunmer. While they both fight for vengeance, it does not completely overtake them like Astarte - their loyalty to the nordic people and eachother comes above all else.

Many drinking songs are sung in Mara’s name, especially those before a major battle. Some soldiers swear up and down that they’ve seen Mara herself partaking in these songs.

The first thing any blacksmith will make is a token for Mara, and they will hang it from their forge, to receive the Craftmother’s blessing.

Amulets, trinkets, brooches, and even domesticated wolfdogs are given to children as protection. There are stories from every village in Skyrim of children getting lost, only to be found being protected, or even brought back, by a mother wolf.

A common folktale of Skyrim claims that the two wolves gifted to Mara by Hircine raised an orphan child, who would later go on to found the city of Solitude. (Obv inspired by Romulus and Remus i love that story okay)

Because of this aid Hircine gave to Mara, nords are unsure where he sits in their pantheon. Some choose to worship him as a friend of the goddess, and some say to worship a daedra is as bad as the dunmer. It is a topic of intense debate.

Astarte

Worshipped in: Sunreach (Orsimer City-State), Aoibdhal (The Reach post-Reachfolk Independence), Elsweyr, Morrowind*

Sphere(s): Love, Motherhood, Children, Community, Protection, Vengeance, Grief, Willpower, Determination, Revolution (Khajiiti and Orsimer exclusive, the reachfolk have their own revolution god)

*in Morrowind, she is seen as an antagonistic goddess, similar to Trinimac. Thus, her spheres in Morrowind are: War, Barbarianism, Revolt, Revenge, Suffering, Invasion

Epithets: “Dread-Witch” “Mother Cat”

What happened next according to Orsimer and Dunmeri mythos: After the death of Trinimac, Ame-no-Astarte brought him back to life with nothing but the sheer force of her fury and willpower. She and their people who had been cursed by the Boethian devils were driven out of Summerset, settling wherever they could. She became Astarte, goddess of vengeance and savage protection of her people. Awed and loved by the orsimer and later the reachfolk, and hated and feared by the dunmer, she became a force to be reckoned with, with the aid of no greater god. Astarte is partnered (orcs and reachfolk have no equivalent of legal marriage) with both Trinimac and Malacath in the orsimer pantheon, and they form the triad of orc faith. She is a strict but devoted mother to the orsimer, and there have been many occasions in history where through force of willpower, she has manifested on Tamriel to defend her children. In reachfolk society, she is a promise to give your life for your community and your people, and a representation of their fierce and undying loyalty to one another. To the dunmer, she is a manifestation of everything evil, savage, and barbaric, and they consider her and the nordic Mara to be one in the same. According to khajiiti mythos, the Mother Cat saw the slavery of the khajiit during an attack on Morrowind, and claimed them as more of her children. From then she became a source of inspiration for anti-slavery movements and revolts.

Trivia:

Dunmer avoided expansion onto Solstheim for thousands of years, due to the presence of wolves on the island. They believed it was the domain of the Dread-Witch, and thus did not dare step foot until the imperial presence was solidified.

Astarte is the patron of reachfolk mountain dog trainers, as her association with wolves and dogs crossed over from the nordic Mara.

Khajiiti slaves will pray to her before escape attempts.

Astarte is regarded as straying the furthest from the goddess’ roots, and many cultures scorn and look down on thus aspect of her. However, all goddesses share the love and compassion for their people, some are just willing to go father than others to protect them.

Reachfolk Pantheon HCs

As a pre-warning, this is ENTIRELY headcanon and any actual ingame lore is irrelevant because this is my elder scrolls and i do what i want <3 bethesda can shush

Another thing is that they all have different names! I think it adds to the identity of the gods of that pantheon if how they’re addressed changes with how they’re worshipped; i’ll include what “canon” god they’re an aspect of next to their names!

Also keep in mind that my theory for how deities come about is through belief - if you believe hard enough that there is a god purely for dandelions for example, that belief forges them into reality. So a lot of these deities vary wildly from their in-game counterparts that are all very much the same no matter what province you’re in.

Inspirations:

Celtic Pantheons, Neo-Paganism, this post by inthepineforest

A lot of the names are inspired by or taken from actual mythologies (esp. in the case of Astarte because its a gorgeous name and i love it)

Right! First off, the gods are split into 4 main “categories”, like how the nords have Hearth Gods, Dead Gods etc etc. The first category is:

Primordials:

Primordials are the concepts that came first. They’re the creators of the First Children. Nán as the Void isn’t sentient, and Lorkh gave up his sentience to become the planet. They’re less actual gods and more just Things.

Nán - the aspect of Sithis - 

Spirit of the Void,  Nán is the personification of the primordial chaos. There isn’t much more to say here except that they are involved in oral myths that state that the world was created by the union of Nán and Lorkh - depicting the Reachfolk creation myth as one heavily influenced by chaos and strife, as both Sithis and Lorkhan are fragments of Padomay.

Lorkh - the aspect of Lorkhan - 

Spirit of Nirn, Lorkh was brought into the reachfolk pantheon by their Nordic neighbours - taking on the idea that he sacrificed himself and his sentience and divinity to create nirn out of pure compassion - but sticking closer to their altmeri ancestor’s name for him. To the reachfolk, he is literally the very earth, rocks, sand, clay that they stand on - he is the planet itself. Offerings to him are poured into the dirt or buried.

The First Children:

The First Children are the major gods created through the creation of Nirn - The fact that all of them are partnered with eachother is more of a metaphorical link to the Reachfolk’s second-to-none sense of community and family; while the reachfolk may believe the gods literally partnered and had children, the “truth” is likely more akin to strong senses of loyalty between them.

Lí Lén - the aspect of Y’ffre - 

God of Trees, Plants, and Animals, Lí Lén was brought into the pantheon through trade with the Bosmer and the Direnni. While the original spirit of Y’ffre was literally just the guardian spirit of the Valenwood Forest,  Lí Lén and his High Rock “civilised” aspect (Lén) are worshipped more as flora and fauna as a whole.  Lí Lén is partnered with Carthenn in most shared mythology, and they are depicted as the parents of Namaídhe, Rhiannon, The Veiled Lady, and The Woodland Man.

Carthenn - the aspect of Kyne - 

Goddess of the Sky, Water, and Weather, Carthenn was brought to the pantheon by the elves of High Rock. Carthenn (for whom the River Karth, as well as Markarth, is named after) is a goddess to be feared, not adored. Adopting the antagonistic altmeri interpretation, Carthenn is attributed for causing natural disasters such as floods, landslides, and torrential storms, and for this reason is generally prayed against and/or to gain her favour. This interpretation was aided by the centuries of Nordic oppression, with the Nords seeing Kyne as their mother goddess; reinforcing the Reachfolk’s antagonistic interpretation of her. Some tribes devote themselves to her worship in attempt to turn her destructive gaze away from them. She is known by two names - one which is deemed safe to speak; Carthenn, and one which is deemed unsafe to speak, unless you wish to invite disaster and suffering to your tribe; Aoibdhreth. Aoibdhreth was the name Carthenn went by during her time as a Blood-Sister (handmaid) to Aoibdhall. (In terms of IRL equivalents, think of how the Greeks would often call Persephone “Kore” so as to not invoke her wrath)  Carthenn is partnered with Lí Lén in most shared mythology, and they are depicted as the parents of Namaídhe, Rhiannon, The Veiled Lady, and The Woodland Man.

Cian - the aspect of Hircine -

God of Hunting, Instinct, Protection, and Fatherhood, Cian is the “father god” of the Reachfolk, and some would describe him as the head of the pantheon. He is venerated primarily by hunters of the tribes, but he is also patron to warriors, fathers, werebeasts, and general protectors of the tribe. Cian is partnered with Aoibdhall in most mythology, and they are depicted as the parents of Mauloch, Merloch, and Perecht.

Aoibdhall - the aspect of Dibella -

Goddess of Foraging, Fertility, Agriculture, and Motherhood, and Family, Aoibdhall is unanimously the most beloved of the pantheon. While tribes will focus on their own particular deities or local spirits, the vast majority of reachfolk see Aoibdhall as the mother goddess from whom most of their culture stems from. She is revered by gatherers, healers who use herbs, those who care for livestock, and tribes as a whole, who see eachother as family. Most *but not all* matriarchs of tribes worship Aoibdhall, as they see themselves as the mothers of their tribe. Her sacred plant is juniper trees. Aoibdhall is partnered with Cian in most mythology, and they are depicted as the parents of Mauloch, Merloch, and Perecht. She is also described as being partnered with Astarte, which is symbolic of the poly-amorous society many reachfolk clans display.

Astarte - the aspect of Mara -

Goddess of Community, Love, Partnership, and Friendship, Astarte is a loan-goddess directly from the Reachfolk’s Orsimer neighbours. (Really gotta do an orsimer pantheon post at some point...) As such, she is not credited as being created by Nán and Lorkh, instead being seen as a wandering goddess before joining their pantheon. She is a very important goddess to the reachfolk due to their incredibly strong sense of community. Astarte is depicted as being both the Blood-Sister (handmaid) and partner of Aoibdhall.

The Wild’s Gods:

The Wild’s Gods are the children of Lí Lén and Carthenn, ruling over spheres outside of the general mortal experience. They include the “darker” aspects of reachfolk culture, such as ritual cannibalism, formation of briarhearts, and dangerous fae folk.

Namaídhe - the aspect of Namira -

Goddess of Spirits and the Fae, Namaídhe is the first daughter of Carthenn, and Queen of the Spirit Realm. Her plane, the Feywild, is layered over Nirn, but can only be reached by mortals through the aid of the Veiled Lady, or the trickery of the Woodland Man. She is not known to be malevolent, inviting mortals who respect her rules to enter her plane as often as they wish, however the faeries and spirits who also live there range wildly in their tolerance of mortals in their lands. 

Rhiannon - the aspect of Nocturnal -

Goddess of the Unknown, Darkness, and the Night, Rhiannon is goddess of all things hidden by shadow. She is the patron of hagravens, and the goddess responsible for aiding the reachfolk in the creation of briarhearts. (I saw a very good post about this somewhere if i can find it again i’ll link it)

The Veiled Lady - the aspect of Vaermina -

Goddess of Dreams, Visions, and Divination, the Veiled Lady is responsible for giving dreams, visions and prophecies to her followers. Her primary job however, is acting as a psychopomp to mortals who wish to enter the Feywilds - conducting them through the Dreamstride into  Namaídhe’s realm and back out again. As a result, she is often called upon by conjuration users who wish to befriend daedra, spirits, or fae from the Feywilds, as she can also transport spirits into the mortal realm.

The Woodland Man - the aspect of Hermaeus Mora -

God of Forbidden Knowledge, Trickery, and Betrayal, the Woodland Man plays a kind of boogeyman role in reachfolk society. He is stories told to children to keep them away from the darker parts of the woods, he is tales of wolves with unnaturally large teeth, of nords carrying pitchforks made of fire if they venture too close to towns, of evil creatures hiding in lakes to pull in unsuspecting children. Whether or not these stories are true is up for debate. In that respect, he plays a similar role to his mother Carthenn, prayed against instead of exchanges of mutual respect. He is the darker side of the fae, dragging unsuspecting mortals against their will into the realm of Namaídhe. Stories of avoiding fairy circles and things like that would be common, warnings to unsuspecting travelers to avoid The Man In The Woods.

The People’s Gods:

The People’s Gods, also known as the Gods of the People, are described as the children of Cian and Aoibdhall. They embody the spirit of the Reach - their determination, rebellion, and unwillingness to give up. These gods are often ones that worshippers will have a relationship closer to a friendship than reverence with - it is not uncommon for children to ask Merloch for help rebelling against their parents.

Mauloch - the aspect of Malacath -

God of War, Battle, and Strife, Mauloch is the first of the triplets. He originated from Malacath, brought over by the Orsimer, along with their equivalent of Mara; Astarte. He is the god of the Reachfolk’s fury and anger - tribe elders often teach restraint and peace where possible, but sometimes battle is necessary. It is in these situations that Mauloch is invoked.

Merloch - the aspect of Mehrunes Dagon -

God of Rebellion and Revolution, Merloch is the second of the triplets, and is the people’s determination. He is especially revered by the fighters against the nord occupation of the Reach, and it is to him, his brother Mauloch, and their father Cian that prayers are offered to before a major battle. Merloch is not vengeance without cause - his sphere covers deserved revenge. His popularity in worship has increased rapidly since the nordic takeover of Markarth and the imprisonment of the head of the freedom movement, Madanach.

Perecht - the aspect of Peryite -

God of the Natural Order, Disease, and Healing, Perecht is the last of the triplets. He is the people’s resilience. He is a favoured deity to work with for healers, as well as a separate profession of reachfolk dedicated to maintaining the native flora and fauna of the reach, as well as driving out invasive species. He is sometimes called the “runt of the litter” due to his stark differences from his siblings, but is commonly regarded as the friendliest to mortals of the three.

[HC] baseless almalexia headcanon because i cant think of anything else to post:

Her favourite flowers are lavender and wisteria. the tribunal temple has wisteria vines climbing up the entire thing, and lavender is the primary incense burned inside.

After her death, wisteria broaches were worn to show secret faith in the Tribunal, and pots of lavender would be grown in windowsills, again displaying the same message.

because i hate the idea that all vampires are the same and made by Molag Bal. Molag wont be mentioned in this at all; he’s been completely retconned out.

so, in *general* location order:

Pestis Procuratia

Most commonly found in: Entirety of Tamriel

Created by: Peryite

Pestis Procuratia - loosely translating to “pest management” in Old Cyrodiilic was the first strain of the vampiris virus released onto Tamriel. These original vampires were created by Peryite to act as a natural control for populations increasing unnaturally fast and interfering with natural order. They share the superhuman strength/abilities displayed by most other vampiric strains, however they have one major difference: unlike most modern vampire strains, Peryite’s vampires do not recieve a longer lifespan. In fact, their disease acts as a ticking time bomb. In times of population crises, Peryite will unleash a small amount of the strain, infecting a small population with Pestis Procuratia. From this point forward, instead of being undead, they are dying. After controlling the population they were sent to cull, many vampires infected with this strain will only have a few weeks left to live. This is to avoid them altering the natural order drastically with their un-human power. This, along with Hemophilia Mania are the only two strains that cannot be passed down through genetics. This strain is almost never encountered unless a culling is taking place; and Peryite only rarely has to intervene to set the natural order straight, making these vampires the rarest in Tamriel.

Hypnotic Hemophilia - 

Most commonly found in: Vvardenfell

Created by: Vaermina

Hypnotic Hemophilia is a strain of vampirism created by the daedric prince Vaermina*. Vampires infected with Hypnotic Hemophilia are some of the most easily recognizable vampires. While they take on many traditional vampiric traits (de-saturated skin, enlarged canines etc.), Vaermina’s vampires develop dark purple tendril-like markings from their eyes to the rest of their face. Some have even been found with the tendrils inside the eye, marking the victim blind, seeing only through their matron’s visions sent through dreams. This strain is the second most despised by the people of Morrowind, second only to Hemophilia Mania, because of the abilities it grants the host. Hypnotic Hemophiliacs have the ability to read and control both conscious and unconscious minds, making them formidable predators and near-on impossible to combat without expert training to block them from your mind - something the average civilian living on Vvardenfell cannot do.

*I chose Vaermina as the creator of this strain due to the line in Morrowind’s A Cure For Vampirism quest, where it states that Molag Bal “Retrieved the cure from the Daedra Vaermina”

Hemophilia Mania -

Most commonly found in: Mainland Morrowind

Created by: Sheogorath

Hemophilia Mania - named after it’s creator - is the most feared vampiric strain within Morrowind. Unlike all other vampiric strains - where at least a small amount of sentience is kept by the vampire - those infected with Hemophilia Mania lose their entire self, similar to the unrelated ash zombies and corprus stalkers of Red Mountain. Their mind becomes crazed and they act more as mindless, feral zombies than people. They retain the unnatural strength of the original vampire strains, and this strength combined with animalistic ferocity makes them formidable and terrifying to the populace of Morrowind. Every tooth of the victim morphs into canines, growing long and knife-like, lending to their horrifying appearance. Many rural areas have tales - some true, some only warnings - of these creatures slaughtering any unfortunate soul they catch the scent of. Some city folk began to doubt their existence, claiming them to be a boogeyman figure concocted by paranoid farmers or argonian slaves. But they’re real. They’re very real.

Vampiris Occultatum -

Most commonly found in: Cyrodiil

Created by: Clavicus Vile

The Vampiris Occultatum strain, created by Daedric Prince Clavicus Vile, is simultaneously the most common, and least documented strain of vampirism. This may seem contradictory, but the reason for this is the blessing itself granted by the prince - the ability to blend almost perfectly into normal society. While these vampires may have slightly enlarged canines, de-saturated skin and eyes that slightly glow, these changes are often so minuscule that they are unnoticeable by the average person. Vampires infected by this strain must feed more often than most strains, react far worse to starvation than other strains, and are in fact more susceptible to illness and disease, but this is seen by many as a small price to pay to be able to exist without detection. These vampires are immortal to age - however can still be killed by any normal means, including other illnesses. Many vampires of the Occultatum strain revere Clavicus as a kind of “father figure”, similar to Hircine and his role as father of manbeasts, however Clavicus has never been seen to display any similar kind of affection to his vampires.*

*this whole concept comes from the canon idea that Clavicus Vile blessed cyrodiilic vampires to blend in with regular people.

Sanguinare Vampiris -

Most commonly found in: Skyrim, Elsweyr

Created by: Sanguine

Sanguinare Vampiris is the second most common vampiric strain after  Vampiris Occultatum, and the most well documented. Created by Sanguine in the effort to show mortals the world of “Blood-Made-Pleasure” as described by the Ayleids. Unlike Occultatum, vampires infected with Sanguinare Vampiris are driven by urges and impulses of the flesh. For this reason, many vampires of this strain form into small groups and covens outside of society, where acting on their impulses cannot be seen by the eyes of the law. As their infection is more focused on blood than power or specific abilities, they have larger canines than their primarily cyrodiilic cousins, and while the infection does seem to “pause” the physical aging process (as seen with Babette), vampires of this strain will still die at the “regular” amount of years (ie 80-100 for human races) as their body decays at the same rate. Many regard this strain as the weakest in terms of power and ability, and even many vampires (particularly those of the Volkihar Clan) look down on this strain as “little better than cannibalistic mortals”

Rosette Blight -

Most commonly found in: Skyrim (Volkihar Clan exclusive)

Created by: Azura

The Rosette Blight is perhaps the rarest recorded vampiric strain besides the original strain of Peryite, as it is found exclusively within the Volkihar Clan of Skyrim. The clan is extremely particular in who they allow to join their bloodline, and thus there are only a handful in Tamriel. Named for it’s creator Azura, the Rosette Blight is a strain heavily focused on transformation, such as is Azura’s sphere. Volkihar vampires are some of the most visually distinctive beside the Morrowind strains to accommodate for this transformation - having lines across their mouths and face that can peel back to allow for the mass of the head to increase during transformation.* The transformation in question - often called a “Vampire Lord Form” is in fact a mix between a human and a Winged Twilight, allowing for basic flight and a variety of daedric magics unreachable for any of the other strains. Another crucial differentiation between vampires of the Rosette strain is their unnatural charm and charisma. These vampires are renowned for their abilities to manipulate and persuade any into doing their bidding should they so choose. Because of their skill in persuasion, magic, strength, rarity and the overall superiority complex of the Volkihar Clan, vampires of this strain have become renowned as the most powerful vampire strain, even if this is not objectively true.

Sanies Vespertilio -

Most commonly found in: Valenwood, Skyrim (specifically The Reach)

Created by: Hircine

Last one of this series! The Sanies Vespertilio strain - loosely translating to “blood in a wound” and “bat” - is the only recorded hybrid of the vampiris virus and the lycanthrope disease. Namely, this is the strain created by Lord Hircine. Members of this strain have their senses of eyesight, hearing and smell greatly enhanced, as well as their most distinctive ability; the ability to transform into a (very) large bat. This makes them incredibly proficient hunters while in their “human” forms, and exceptionally proficient gatherers whilst in their bat forms. Vampires of this strain tend to group together, unintentionally mimicking a colony of regular bats, such as clans of Valenwood or tribes of The Reach. One tribe of reachfolk that consist entirely of Hircine’s werebats is the Blood Wing tribe (which i’ll do a post on eventually jhdshdsd) who live in the mountains bordering High Rock. If anyone’s interested this is where my characters Cinna and her son Fáelán are from!*

* @strosmkai-rum did an amazing post of werebat headcanons which i REALLY recommend reading (linked here!) they are so creative and add so much to the very vacant canon of werebats go read it now!!

[HC] yknow how usually deities have a “true form” and then they can manifest however they want? like hermaeus mora’s true form is probably that mass of tentacles and eyes but he could probably manifest on nirn as just a Regular Guy? 

I think Dibella’s true form is constantly changing. CONSTANTLY. I see her form as being a human (i say human, it shifts from man to mer to beastfolk) made entirely of rainbow. pastel rainbow i think - easier on the eyes. generally seen as more beautiful. i think she shifts between every colour of the rainbow like a divine tie-dye. i think she shifts between every race, every body type, every hairstyle and length, every unique facial feature shifting within seconds, making her look like a flowing stained glass window. you look at her and blink and suddenly everything about her has changed. flowers grow and bloom and die, beauty is subjective and unique to every person - i think she reflects that.

i also think her form is always nude; not in the weird “aha sex goddess” way but as a physical manifestation of the beauty of the human form. rainbows dance on her skin like she’s an aurora borealis, what could be more beautiful than that?

Hello again,

It hasn’t even been a day but you’ve enabled me and I have zero shame so I’m absolutely going to dump all my obito brain rots on here. Please do tell if it gets a bit too much. I’m going to focus on his Kamui and Mokuton Obito pre-rin’s death (I don’t think I’m using that hyphen correctly). Obito was displayed as a pretty piss poor shinobi, which, FIRST OF ALL, is a ‘fact’ that was never actually backed up properly??? The only consistent comparison we got was he sucked compared to Kks which is a given considering who tf kakashi is. Also in the like the game version (???) Obito performed the great fireball jutsu on the same level as Sasuke in their genin team test (There is actually so much shit I can say about how much of a fucking disaster Team Minato was as a whole but thats another topic for another day) which Kks was impressed at as teacher so??????? I feel like at least a little bi t of his inadequacies was exaggerated, but maybe thats the different standards between war and peace times. He probably was mediocre in taijutsu, basic weaponry (kunai and shuriken) and like, two jutsus. I headcannon that Obito isn’t actually fire natured, and maybe it wasn’t realized until Madara or something because Uchiha With Non-Fire Natures? A pretty rare and bad occurrence. But Obito-post rin’s death? The MS and wood style was definitely a game changer. First of all, the mangekyou gives each user a specialized ability, which I believe has some connection to their mindset/subconsciousness, like by itself the MS is just a block of clay and the instantly activated the user it’s molded into something to suit its user. Kamui allows Obt to phase through shit and gives him his own personal. DIMENSION. Delving into characterization here, a key aspect of Obito pre-rin was his aspirations to be Hokage and be acknowledged. The hokage needs to be really strong, strong enough to be unbeatable and untouchable. Meanwhile, at the time of activation, Obito was experiencing a traumatic event, more specifically he was denying his best (arguably only) friends death, not accepting the happenings of their world, which led to the personal dimension. With the mokuton, half of his boy was replaced with Hashirama/plant matter, so theres a chance he can use mokuton because of that, which would explain why he didnt need water or earth nature chakra. Another explanation, is that Obito was actually water natured, with fire as his secondary and earth as his third. If we’re delving into Messenger/No Tomorrow fic lands then I wholeheartedly believe that Kagami would have been water natured, which would also explain why he was Tobirama student. Also hc Obito’s parent were senju descent, which automatically granted him the genes needed for mokuton. Another note, his mokuton was a lot different from Hashirama and Tenzou/Yamatos, which I think is how the wood style is suppose to actually look, so I think its a mixture between him actually not having earth style, which makes his wood style more natural and plant related, and the fact that half of his body is literally made of that shit. I also have such A conundrum with how,, the prosthetic looks??? Like Madara was trying to enhance the mokuton side, so yeah there’ll be some changes to its appearance but why is it fkn white? Why not like a more plant like appearance. Imagine if the prosthetic was a mesh of tree branches that twist into the shape of a arm, that’ll be so much cooler than whatever the hell the white gooey shit is. Going to the mechanics and technicalities, how does the Kamui dimension work? Was it already constructed upon activation or was it just Space that Obito had to manipulate into existence? I like to think the kamui dimension was already constructed upon activation based off Obts mental shit or some other shit, but he has control over it; like he can choose what visitors of his dimension can see, like the sharingan with genjutsu but instead of eye contact its just,,, his entire dimension. I also hc he can teleport anywhere without needing anything else because its His place? And it’s also easier

Honestly..... SIGH the things that apparently make academy students who graduated 'impressive' literally... Has no consistency. Anyone can be like 'oh wartime vs peacetime' but somehow I really don't think Obito was much different from... *Checks smudged pen on my palm* Asuma or Kurenai or Genma or Rin???? Like Kakashi was a ridiculous child but no one said anyone was EXPECTED TO BE THAT LEVEL???? Kakashi is literally that level because Sakumo was a single parent who took that baby ON missions with him and shit whereas you have Obito coming in like a civilian-raised kid because they made it clear (ish, as with... everything) that Obito had no one but Rin in his life (which means no help but all the judgement). So Kakashi gets private tutoring from birth by a man who is noted to have been even BIGGER than the Sannin during the second War whereas Obito raises himself in the Uchiha Compound, gets no help from anyone (remind you of anyone? Maybe the PROTAGONIST) and yet manages to come out of the academy around the level of everyone else 🤔

Tbh! Tbh tbh tbh!!! They COPPED OUT with that prosthetic! Give him a bark-effect at least, sheesh! Also the missing eye thing, they deffo couldve given him a mokuton-related eye if they were able to give him a whole-ass arm and chunk of torso like...c'mon C'MON they could've given him a GROOT arm! IT COULDVE GROWN AND SHIT!!!

Yes! There seems to be a Mangekyou-scape even without activating the ACTUAL Mangekyou technique. Shisui, sparring against Itachi, won immediately by bringing Itachi into a different landscape that Itachi could never break out of. Itachi, when he uses his torture technique, can alter other people's consciousness into an environment of his choosing without committing to the actual Torture Aspect of the technique. So, with Obito's Kamui, i deffo think the mindscape is something he can craft! It's dark and stoney and desolate and i think that's pretty damn symbolic

Yes, i HC the same kind of travel-cheat with Summons! In my fics, Shisui and Itachi send Crows back and forth rapidly because the Crows can pop in and out of the Realm wherever the summoners are and it makes total sense for Obito to be able to CHOOSE where he steps out again. It's like the flying thunder god without having to leave markers or being able to be blocked!

Prompt 4: Clinch

Raven attends a party celebrating the abolishment of trial by combat. ((I can't politics for shit, my creative spoons are shot, have a thing I stubbornly threw together.))

((Also below the cut is a picture of what she’s wearing, again just pretend she has her locket and wedding ring. And I kinda HC that while she and Haurchefant hyphenated their names when they got married (with Edmont’s permission) and are formally introduced as Lord and Lady Cross-Fortemps, many nobles will call her Lady Fortemps to be polite but disregard who her husband is, or straight out call her Lady Greystone as an insult.))

The deal has been settled, and trial by combat has officially been abolished.

Raven couldn’t believe that it actually worked. After so long fighting with the nobility to see this finally pass felt like a dream.

She strode into the ballroom proudly, her high heels clicking across the tile, and the first person to approach her was, thankfully, Aymeric and Lucia, who Raven admitted cleaned up well in a suit.

“Congratulations are in order Lady Cross-Fortemps.” He greeted with a formal smile, but Raven saw the delighted brightness in his eyes. “Without your impassioned speech, I do not believe this might have been possible.”

Raven laughed. “To have clinched the hearts of the nobility was no easy feat, but I am thankful for my stubbornness. And for the support of everyone around me.”

“You may have caught the hearts of the House of Lords and House of Commons, but the rest of the nobility will not be so inclined to be as moved by your work. Rukia has already disarmed three men with the intent of bringing harm this night.” Lucia warned, her voice low as to only Aymeric and Raven heard her.

Raven sighed. “Why am I not surprised...very well, I will be vigilant.”

“Is aught amiss my wife?”

Raven smiled as she felt her husband’s hand at her waist. “Do not worry my love, just the normal politics and attempts of assassination that come with it. Though it seems these are truly foolish if they think they can bring harm to a Warrior of Light.”

He’s quiet before the hand at her waist tightens in worry. “”Tis not you they are after I fear, but those closest to you and those that backed you during the debates.” 

“So it’s a repeat of the murder party, that’s just fucking great...” Raven groaned under her breath.

The others gave her encouraging smiles as she felt her husband kiss her cheek assuringly. “Pray do not worry my heart, no harm shall come to any of us tonight.”

“Oh Ser Aymeric? My lord might I have a word?” A shrill noble called, and Raven winced for Aymeric, who sighed and put on a polite smile for the noblewoman, right as the others were pulled away from her as well.

She sighed as she graciously accepted a flute of champagne from a servant and slipped her a small amount of coin, she knew it was hell dealing with the nobility, especially during events like this.

She heard an irritated snapping and wished the girl well before internally giving the old hyur a glower of disapproval as the noble walked to her.

"Ahh the Lady Fortemps, what a pleasure and congratulations on your law being passed!" He greeted, and Raven could already tell this idiot had been drinking beforehand.

She internally glowered at him but put on a pleasant smile. "Ahh my lord, a pleasure to see you. Tis a blessing that the two Houses were willing to listen-"

"Oh shut up you useless girl, we all know that you just used your power as a Warrior of Light and your marriage into House Fortemps to make them listen." The noble slurred maliciously.

Raven blinked. "Excuse me?"

"Everyone knows that you are a cook's daughter, a pauper and without your connections you would not have even see the manor that you now live or be in the bed of the nobleman's bastard." He snarled lowly. "Really Lady Greystone, you do not hold near as much sway that you believe."

She could deal with the snide remarks and shitty words, but the next thing the noble did was the final straw and his grave mistake.

He placed his hand upon the lower part of her waist and dangerously close to her hip, seeing as that was the highest he could reach with her towering 6'10 frame.

She was visibly angry now, and her eyes turned to slits, a trick she had mastered to make herself look all the more intimidating and terrifying when she needed to be as her voice went dark. "Really how daring, to put your hand against a married woman, a Warrior of Light, and the Dragonlady. You are either a fool or you have a death wish."

The noble gulped and pulled away immediately, running away and with how he staggared, it was clear that he was more drunk than he thought.

Haurchefant passed by the noble drunkenly sprinting away and found his wife visibly fuming. "Raven? My dearest heart what happened?"

"Arse put his hands on me and tried to pull something. I scared the piece of shite off." She explained, her voice still dark and her eyes still in slits.

He glowered in the nobleman's direction before offering his hands to her. "May I my wife?"

His consideration for her comfort made her soften and she smiled as she stepped into his arms. "Your touch is always welcome my love."

He smiled as he took her hands and pressed kisses yo her knuckles. "Even if I am your husband and I am welcome, I still would rather ask out of respect to you, my dearest wife and love of my life, whom I shall not leave her side the rest of this evening."

She laughed softly, and part of her felt like he had clinched her heart all the more, as though he did not have all of it already.

As promised, he did not leave her side that night, and upon their return to their home in the Firmament, he made sure she knew just how deeply he loved her and how proud he was of her with her latest achievement.

Lisa Bridges

Basically every other character in DS has lost a lover and/or a child, but out of all these backstories, the one that intrigues me the most is that of Sam’s biological parents: Cliff and Lisa. Especially Lisa.

It might be because, out of all the Death Backstories Characters(tm), she’s the one the most alive, somehow. Maybe it’s because of Mads Mikkelsen’s acting. It might be because she’s the only DBSC we actually see die (Heartman’s flashback showed his wife and daughter on the Beach walking away from him and we get a picture of them, but that’s it. Lockne’s lost love was reference like twice in a single paragraph of dialogue by another character, and we don’t even know what their exact relationship was. Our main character’s backstory didn’t even get a flashback, it was just explained to us). It might be because their enough referenced about her to tell us she had a story, we just can’t learn it because there’s no records of it left.

Why was it decided to make her Cliff’s common-law wife instead of just wife? They met on her birthday, but how and why (Cliff’s tone implies there’s an interesting story there)? What was her exact relation to the military? Shoot, since, as a “stillmother,” she was brain dead, when did she go to the Beach- when her brain died or when Cliff shot her? And out of all the names Sam could have chosen, why did he choose “Bridges”- his birth mother’s last name- when he didn’t even know about her until like a decade after he took it on?

There’s just so much framework to make something interesting...

Anyway, onto my interpretation. We only get to see her clearly twice and both times its briefly and at an angle, but I remember thinking she looked like Fragile when I saw her. I’m pretty out of my depth when it comes to game design, but given that every character is modeled after a real person, it made sense that she would be as well, but given the fact that she had like under a minute of clear screen time times and is basically just a body on a table during it, it made sense that they would just reuse an asset. As for why they would use Lea Seydoux’s likeness, I don’t know. It might not even be Seydoux- goodness know’s I’m awful at recognizing faces

The reason I ran with it is because basically every other major character (at least the ones who save Sam from the Beach) has a connection to babies- Die-hardman was a major part of the early BB experiments and was even holding the gun that killed Sam for the first time; Lockne/Mama had their BT baby; Deadman basically assigned himself as Lou’s other parent; Heartman had and lost a daughter. Fragile’s the only one without a clear connection to babies. The closest I can think of is when Sam gave her Lou to watch, and she calls that “babysitting.” IDK, if she shared a model with Sam’s mother, it would be an indirect connection, but a connection nonetheless. (I'm not saying Fragile is a reincarnation of Lisa- I don’t even remember if reincarnation was ever brought up in came, and even if it was, I’m not sure how it would fit into DS’s version of death and the afterlife- but still, it’s fun to think about.)

So yeah, I primarily modeled her after Seydoux. I threw a little of Norman Reedus as well, around her eyes and ears, to add to the believability that she contributed to Sam’s genetic makeup. Her clothes and hair came from Hideo Kojima’s canceled Silent Hill game and the P.T. used to promote it. There’s a character in the P.T. named Lisa- a ghost of a woman who pregnant before being killed by her husband (presumably for less “noble” reasons that Cliff had). I’m not sure if Lisa Bridges was meant to reference Lisa, but you can’t deny there’s some similarities between the characters. 

So I gave her the hair Lisa had in the photos in the P.T., as well as the pearl necklace and dresses she wore (and single high heel. Sidenote- P.T. Lisa was wearing her nightgown while in ghost mode, yet for some reason was also wearing a single high heel. Did she sleep in them, or was she just so attached to that one heel in particular that she brought it into the afterlife?)

The outfit she’s wearing in the first picture in the same one Reedus’s character wore in the actual promo for the canceled game.

When Cliff called Sam “BB,” he didn’t mean “Bridge Baby” (because Cliff was kept in the dark about the true reason behind his son being kept in a pod). He meant “Baby Bridges”- He was totally planning on giving his kid his wife’s surname, or at least hyphenating, and also was considering making the kid’s first name start with B as well. This is part of why he was so pleased at Sam’s name being Sam Porter Bridges- he was glad his son had a connection to his wife.

The mcclain anon answer, I agree with you on that. My personal hc- Lance's maternal side are Cubans who migrated, and his paternal side are American, but may have some Scottish ancestry, hence McClain. He has a hyphenated name, as per traditional Latino families, but uses McClain as his last name, as it's easier to use one. I will admit it irks me that they didn't give him a cuban/spanish name, but I guess they wanted to stick to the original anime. Thought it might be cool to share this ~ska🍷

Welcome to New York, what is your character’s name?

Amelia Jessica Pond-Williams. Though, she took on the last name Williams when she was transported back to 1920s New York because she couldn’t really legally hyphenate + it was a testament to how much she loves Rory & how she was willing to leave behind her old life with the Doctor behind. But she prefers to just be called Amy!

Where have they been pulled from in their fandom? 

Right when Amy & Rory make their exit in Doctor Who, in the Angels Take Manhattan. I imagine that she wakes up in her new life in this RP from that point. 

With the curse, how has your character’s life changed? 

Well, I don’t want to godmod the potential Rory player but if Rory isn’t in her life then that’s a major change ( though, I’d love if they were best friends who grew up together or something in the new life  ). Like in canon, Amy had the belief the Doctor was real but instead of him coming back, he was just a story. She still grew up the same way in canon, the weird girl who turned ginger bombshell who was a kissogram but in this verse ( to mirror canon ) she gets picked up by a modeling agency and moves to New York. As far as Amy knows she’s lived in New York for 10 years, now a successful science fiction author and currently working on a children’s book both illustrating & writing it.  Her life has changed because she turned her childhood shit into stories that have sold pretty well. She didn’t get married to Rory at a young age, she’s had quite a few years to develop who she is and live her life outside of Leadworth.  

With Amy’s memories coming back, to put it simply, it hurts. All over again. Remembering it all, losing it all, it hurts. Though not a drinker AT ALL, Amy has found herself doing anything she can to forget remembering, working on a much darker novel than her previous ones. It’s been disorienting because even though her life is beautiful & brilliant as it is -- it’s not real. The feeling of things not being real, the blurring of lines between reality & falsity has really done a number on her as she does deal with mental illness, worrying that she’s finally, properly, losing her mind. Frankly, she doesn’t know if it’s real, she doesn’t know what’s real, though she tries to be Amy Pond, this blurring of reality is something that scares her. Another feeling she feels is anger, anger about what happened to her in canon, anger about having to doubt her own mind all over again and a determination to fix this and/or find the person responsible. 

Do they have a job, and if so what is it? 

To dive in more about her job, Amy isn’t the most famous person around but she definitely has mild celebrity due to her early modeling ( a model turned scifi author intrigues a lot of weird fanboys that’s for sure ), her books are what has really launched any celebrity she has into something more recognizable. Sometimes asked to help host D list red carpet shows, etc. Amy is not Known Known but you find her face recognizable. She’s done a lot of activism as well for mental illness and the LGBTQIA+ & Queer communities as she’s openly bisexual so there’s definitely a funky little cult following she has and she’s fairly popular in Scotland as well as a hometown hero in her town of Leadworth ( something she finds HILARIOUS as they hated her for years ). 

Is there any other information about your character that members might find helpful?

THIS SECTION WILL BE FOR MY RAMBLING. Because where else am I GONNA DO IT??? I’ve been playing Amy for 5+ years now and I’m going to give y’all some insight on how i play her as well as how i see her. I’m watching an episode right now that’s helped come up with some of this as well. I’ll probably add more HCs as I slowly rewatch her scenes, etc. 

 A Sagittarius!!!!!!!!!! which literally fits her so well if you love astrology and Amy Pond, you already know!

One of my favorite aspects of Amy’s character is her empathy & intuitiveness. While sometimes lacking social grace and not always the best with interpersonal relations, she can see people for who they are deep down, their intentions, the emotions she feels like she feels from others often overwhelming but something that does lead her. A gut instinct magnified. She’s intuitive and empathetic because she’s got such an active imagination paired with a creative mind, she’s able to put those two things together, not only painting a picture of who someone is, painting colors on them they might not see themselves. Maybe this is a bit naive at times, maybe even a bit dangerous if it steers her wrong ( which is why Rory Williams is so important to her, her impulsiveness paired with this can get her into tough situations and he always has her back, always by her side ). Amelia is not always one to think before jumping into situations if she feels it’s the right thing to do, a prime example of this is her running off with The Doctor EASILY. Both as a kid and an adult. Luckily, not many have taken advantage of this as she can be extremely closed off emotionally. She’s a good judge of character and if she puts her faith in you, know while it could be surprising, it was a very much calculated, thought out, and a felt through choice. Amy’s extremely stubborn so good luck getting her to do something she doesn’t want to do ESPECIALLY if she doesn’t feel it’s right. Amy is usually able to connect to anyone and everyone some sort of way when she tries due to all of this, usually better with connecting to people than the ( Eleventh ) Doctor himself is. 

[ EMOTIONAL NEGLECT MENTION, ALCOHOLISM MENTION ] Verbal, straightforward, blunt, but it when it comes to her emotions, the ones that hurt, the ones that can’t be wrapped in something beautiful or lightly joked about are the ones tucked away. Amy’s got serious commitment issues as well, as shown throughout Doctor Who, that stemmed from the Doctor leaving her multiple times as well as never knowing her parents. I play her Aunt as a high functioning alcoholic, growing up she was never really home much less attentive to Amy ( also due to the whole crack in Amy’s wall thing, but, that’s a whole other topic ). For insight on how this effects her, I once played her in a multifandom at hogwarts rp where she was in a relationship with a character and they were really fucking cute ( I still rp them to this day w/ my friend ). But she was SO cared of this relationship not working out / losing Rory because he had just confessed that he romantically liked her, that she broke up with the other person ( who she had deep feelings for who never EVER would’ve left her ) because Rory meant too much to her, he’d been there through everything, the thought of losing him? Unthinkable. this isn’t to say she didn’t love them both ( polyamorous Amelia Pond ftw! ), or value Rory as much ( I felt pressured to go into canon as well so I had to find a believable fault/fear/issue to really sell this but I think there’s something to be said for this ), I don’t play it that way in THIS rp, of course. [ END OF EMOTIONAL NEGLECT MENTION, ALCOHOLISM MENTION ]

It goes to show that she will make fear based decisions as well as decisions based on her insecurities that she’s not enough, that she’s more pain than she’s worth, out of not being able to give someone she cares about what they need. For example, when in canon Amy breaks up with Rory because she feels so guilty she can’t have biological kids when she knows he ALWAYS wanted kids. She was scared if she stayed with him, he’d hate her, that she was keeping him from having a fulfilling life, that she wasn’t enough and didn’t fit into what he wanted. Rory deserves everything to her, she couldn’t give it to him, when he gave and gave and gave to her. She didn’t feel worthy, but she didn’t express that fear either, making Rory feel completely shut out because she was shutting him out. She’ll self sabotage easily, because commitment is scary to her and she’d rather be the one leaving than being left. Amy can’t stand to wait for the worst to happen, for the other shoe to drop, she isn’t the fucking girl who waited -- not anymore. 

Amy is diagnosed with major depressive disorder previously diagnosed with psychotic features added on as well until the Doctor came back but after having 4 psychiatrists in her youth, Amy definitely fits into having MDD. There are many evidences in canon besides her literally going to psychiatrists that suggest that Amy is mentally ill / ND, another hint in the episode ‘Vincent and The Doctor’. Amy empathizes with Vincent Van Gogh ( my Amy is an extreme art history lover as well, especially Vincent Van Gogh ), she says she’s been where he is, that she gets it. [ SUICIDE MENTION ] She is physically effected when he talks about dark shit and in another episode with the Dreamlord, she talks about how she doesn’t want to live in a world if Rory’s not in it, then killing herself in the show. The way she does it in my head ( and in the show ) is extremely steely, easily done, because Amy has dealt with mental illness, because she’s been in dark places & suicidal ideation. [ END OF SUICIDE MENTION ]  In this RP, she’ll also have been diagnosed and is taking medication because we stan healthy characters who cope with their mental illness! Even though she’s definitely having a hard time currently. 

Rory Williams really is everything to her. Her best friend, a love of her life, her partner, the only person who stuck by her side through everything. She never waivers in this love for him, even though she does have doubts due to her own commitment issues ( and regular issues ) but she doesn’t have doubts about who Rory is. She loves him. The Doctor is also someone she loves passionately, though she could’ve loved him romantically and often could see that sort of a future with him -- he’s completely unavailable and unreliable. If there’s one thing that Amy can’t do in a partner romantically it’s unreliable. Plus, after finding out her daughter was married to him in canon? She’ll pass. The Doctor is more like a twin flame sort of thing for her, a very kindred spirit. She loves him because in her little town of Leadworth, full of boring, sensible things, where she was the weird girl in town -- he was just as weird as her. 

 If I had to pick a Hogwarts house for Amy, it’d be Gryffindor.

The great tragedy of the back half of A Crown of Candy is that if the Rocks had met Saccharina 2 days earlier, when Jet was still alive, I think they would have been able to give her that immediate love and acceptance she craves. 

Jet and Ruby would have thought she was SO COOL and Amethar would have been able to appreciate gaining another daughter and the eased political situation that comes of it and been able to quickly give her his heart too. But instead they met her just after Jet died, and she’s so similar to Jet, so accepting a ‘new’ daughter/sister felt like they were accepting a ‘replacement’ and it made it harder for them to love her as quickly as she wanted.

If I had a nickel for every time Ally Beardsley rolled a nat 20 in the season finale of Fantasy High, completely upending the game to the point that their character Kristin had to go to heaven and create a new god and remake the world, I’d only have two nickels, but it’s still weird it happened twice

Random TGCF headcanon: Hua Cheng actually has spies in ghosts and humans all throughout the world trying to help him find Xie Lian, but he keeps describing the person he’s looking for as being the most heavenly beauty and having unparalleled grace and other excessive compliments, so even tho XL walks past one of HC’s informants like 3 times a day, none of them realize that’s who HC is looking for.

Hot Take: All these Wangxian Hades and Persephone AUs get it wrong. Obviously, Lan Wangji is the stolid, respected god of death and wealth, beholden to the strict rules of judging and punishing the dead who wishes to  steal away Wei Wuxian, the cheeky god of growth, who keeps breaking the rules of the life cycle, bringing things back from the dead with his life powers, and favoring farmers who plant potatoes over radishes. Grumpy Lightning God Jiang Cheng WILL stomp around making Lan Zhan’s life hard until he agrees to let his brother come back to Lotus Pier some of the time.

Cultural influences in animation

We Bare Bears is an animated series aired on Cartoon Network that follows the adventures of three bear brothers. Despite the trio’s differences in interests, personalities and problems, the three brothers share an unbreakable bond that is heartwarming to any audience.

Daniel Chong, the creator of We Bare Bears, is the one of few minority creators of an original series airing on Cartoon Network today. Chong is of Singaporean-Chinese descent.

Chong uses his own experience as an Asian-American to influence small details within the world of We Bare Bears. Asian culture like anime, boba tea and Korean barbecue feature in multiple episodes.

The cast also includes Chloe Park, a 12-year-old Korean-American child genius studying at the University of California. Chloe's character draws from Chong's own identity and experience.

All members of the cast are equally zany as they are lovable. Chong hopes the world can learn from a simple show about three bears.

“I believe in love, understanding, tolerance, diversity, and peace.” said Chong. “My crew and I will continue to tell stories that will showcase the better and brighter parts of who we are as people- and the virtues and flaws that connect us, not tear us apart.”
