AITA for being truthful with my husband's coworker?

I (23f) have a husband (25m) who is very close with his coworkers. They come over to our house a lot for DND, holidays, etc.

One of his coworkers, N (27m) and I were close. N is very charismatic and flirts with EVERYONE. My husband legitimately did not care, I've even showed him me and N's texts before which look the same as my husband and N's- yes some flirting but nothing actually serious. Most of it is joking

Well, N started dating someone they all work with, J. I had never met J, I have 0 clue her age. The first time we met, I tried to be inviting as there isn't a lot of girls around except those of us that are married or who already are coworkers. She seemed shy, maybe a bit socially awkward.

Then the second time, I caught her pointing at me and whispering to her best guy friend and they both started laughing. It felt like I was in high school, but I ignored it. N had been out of the room. This was at MY house.

We've met a handful of times since, and by a handful I mean literally 5 times. Every time she does not say a word to me. I've tried talking to her and she'll blankly stare at me. So I've stopped. If she doesn't want to be friends that is her choice.

Except my husband caught her vagueposting about me on social media. N doesn't have social media fyi. She basically posted the exact outfit I was wearing, something that happened, and then put "what a dumb situation caused by someone stupid, but at least the outfit was cute". She also replied to a comment saying i was flirting with her man and a homewrecker, which is why I brought up how N is because he is like that with EVERYONE. So I haven't liked her since because, sure she can be upset with N and me joking and "flirting" even if N is like that with every coworker and even my husband, but to post about me and call me stupid just seemed petty and rude

I asked N if she was uncomfortable with our interactions, because J had me blocked on social media and I couldn't ask her, and N said she shouldn't be because he treats me no different then anyone else.

Well, any group hang outs she doesn't come to. There is always an excuse, and I dont even want to invite her because of what she said about me. Except for DND which I am not a part of (I do enjoy it, but the way they play is so fast paced and im dyslexic and not good at math, I have a better time watching then playing so I do other things while they play, it also gives my husband time to enjoy a hobby he likes alone). Anytime J is over for DND she ignores me or whispers to her guy friend when I'm around. N is still N, flirting with everyone (me, my husband, the guy who plays an orc, J, etc.). I dont even think he is intentionally flirting i think he is just very charismatic and some stuff he says can be taken that way

Well most recently N invited us to his house so me and my husband went. J came home started talking to everyone there and then saw us and went to her room (N, J, and two other people live together). She didn't come back out the entire time me and my husband were there, but I found out later she came out once we were gone.

N texted me asking my opinion of J. I was truthful and said, and I quote "Well she seems smart and she is pretty, but I don't really know her. I don't think she likes me, which to each their own. I wish she was a bit more polite about things when she is at my house. Cant really speak on someone i dont know except that shes a bit cold and not who i had thought you would be with.. Otherwise, as long as your happy, what does my opinion matter?" To which N replied "so you have a bigger opinion" and then blocked me.

My husband agrees with me but N is his best friend, they haven't discussed it at work. I have seen J recently, we ran into each other at a store, and she called me a bitch (I guess N told her what I said). AITA?

The day was cold, the sky wept with everyone as the news that the flame hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku had passed. The sound of the rain bouncing off the butterfly estate, and the sobs of mitsuri filled the area. A few sniffles were able to be heard, but you couldn’t focus on anything.

The first hashira you met after becoming Mitsuri’s tsugoku, your best friend, gone..just like that?

Your mind started to flip like a book, each page flipping to show snippets of your favorite memories with the 3 of you hanging out. His pretty smile, and laugh that could brighten up a whole room, you could hear it vividly as if he was right beside you.

You felt a warm hand land on your shoulder, snapping you out of your dazed expression.

“Shinazugawa..” you mumbled.

The man didn’t say a word, his usual grumpy face just slightly softer than normal. A quick head tilt was his way of telling you to follow him.

Before you could process what exactly you were doing, you were at his place.

“If you stood in that rain any longer you would have caught a cold.” He said sitting down, his eyes focused on the floor for a second before meeting your expressionless face. “How are you doing?”

Your eyes widened before meeting his. The Sanemi Shinazugawa was worried about you.

“Huh? Oh I’m fine. I didn’t know him that much anyway..” you said faking a soft smile.

“L/n.”

“I feel bad for mitsuri though, she’s taking the news horribly”

“L/n.”

“If this is how badly she’s taking the news she’s gonna be a wreck for the fu-”

“L/n!” Sanemi said getting off the couch, placing both of his hands on your shoulders to make you stop rambling.

“You’re not fooling me. I know you’re hurt to. You spent a lot of time with him.”

Your eyes started to fill with tears, as your chin started to quiver. You bit your lip and adverted your gaze, begging to whoever is above to not let you cry in front of the wind hashira.

“…I know I yell at you about being strong all the time..but you don’t have to be strong in this situation. You’re allowed to scream and cry and hate everything. You need to grieve and not shove this inside.”

“Im fine..plus the crow is just old and dumb rengoku is fine, in a few days he’ll be walking back he’ll tell mitsuri and I all about his mission. Even when he’s all bruised up and exhausted he always bounces back. He always does.”

“Not this time l/n. He’s gone.”

..Finally, everything hit you. The numbness subsided, and all of your pain, and frustration hit you. The tears came rolling down your cheeks. You sobbed.

Your face became red as you apologized profusely for being week in front of Sanemi.

And that broke his heart. Seeing the way you’re crying over your friend, yet still worrying about being strong made him feel so small and weak, he hated it. He adverted his eyes, and simply placed his hand on the back of your head and pushed your face into his chest.

“There, now you don’t have to worry about me seeing you being weak.” He mumbled, lightly tracing your back with his fingers as a calming technique.

“I..happen to not be finding you weak right now..just so you know.”

“You dont..?” You sniffled out, turning your head to the side, the sound of his heartbeat thumped in your left ear.

“Nah. In fact I think right now you’re being really strong, Stronger than me honestly. But don’t let that get to your head this is a one time thing no one is stronger than I!” He said lightly hitting the spot on your head his hand had been resting on.

“Ow..that’s mean.”

“Yeah whatever. But you being able to show emotion during this fucked up time makes you really strong. But you still need help in the muscle department.”

You giggled as you sniffled again, trying to calm down from the wave of emotions that consumed you.

A silence consumed the room, sanemi was starting to fear that it was awkward for you.

“Hey..”

“Hm..?” You asked looking up at him.

Sanemi took his thumb and wiped your tears. ‘Better’ he though.

“So umm…do you want some Ohagi?”

“Yeah.. *sniffle* I would like that a lot.”

For the first time in a while, sanemi smiled. This fiery white haired man’s heart fluttered. He hated that right now you were hurting, but this man loved that he was getting able to be so close to you.

He hopes to be the only one to hold you close to him, and be the only one to wipe your tears.

Even after a week of knowing he still can't wrap his head around it. YOU?! TAKAMAKI?! And then it kinda all made sense the more he thought about it. The rest of the school? Nah they just wanted something to complain about. "You're not even that popular how could she wanna date you?" "Have you seen how rude the popular kids are" you yawn waiting for the three people to finish speaking only slightly waking up to hear a familiar voice saying something along the lines of "Leave em alone!" "But Takamaki they're so average what do they have that I dont!" "A life that's what" she huffs linking arms with you and dragging you off with her "what nerve" "Relax I wanna fill out my bingo sheet for how many times they said that"

Surprisingly people didn't really come by as you thought they would only just kinda theorized. Surprisingly all you had to do was just show off your talents and then they just kinda understood why. "Hey y/n do you mind helping me with this" you lean over them looking at their screen. Ann would have considered that kid the luckiest person alive you carefully instructing them with such a gentle look in your eyes. Most rumors kind of cleared up after that.

She's quite protective of you out and about as soon as someone asks what you're doing on set she's saying it bluntly "we have a date after this" wide eyed stares go your way before they get back to the shoot. They never got to ask because of Ann shooting glares at them.

It was dumb when Ann pointed it out but whenever youd just stop by to eat somewhere there would be people staring at her and then at you and then back at her. It got to the point youd stare back and you two would just make a game to see who could stare back at the most people

If they ever did get under your skin shed be pissed! But you matter more than those guys. She's always ready to comfort you. "So what? I'm with you because of how you are and how you don't just see me as an object" she pulls you in for a hug. "I'll make sure of it they quit talking behind your back" "I'm more worried for you Ann" she sighs putting a kiss to your forehead. "It's fine just a glare and they shut up real quick orr" she searches for a small bracelet. "Lets just make it more.." she ties it around your wrist with one already around hers. "Perfect! Everyone's gonna know now" getting you to giggle while crying is something she loves doing, she's gonna keep matching with you now just to show you off to people to flex who she's with.

You shouldn't piss off the girl with the axe is something that rings true. As soon as someone asks she grabs your waist firmly with something a bit passive aggressive or "Why they're just such a good cook how could I ever pass them up" "so you have them around only to cook? There's way better butlers-" "then perhaps you've never experienced what it's like being with someone that you didn't have to pay off" she huffs taking off with you.

Very close to you at all times when you're together she's hearing you breath. "You're so warm" "you sure the sun's not getting to you?" "Nope" all cuddled up to you while your walking somewhere thank god the tablod articles didn't catch clear shots of you two.

Okumura can't say anything about your relationships but the guy she was forced to marry by him does. Just because the guys dead dosent mean you can just take his wife! He's fuming, unfortunately he can't really do anything about it. "HOW DARE A COMMONER EVEN TRY TO MARRY MY WIFE" "sir without okumura I'm afraid we can't do anything about it" "NON-" and then the convent security cam footage of you looking straight at the camera as if knowing hes talking about you, with narrow eyes and a clearly annoyed look. "Yea- you know let's just find another ya know!"

You fully expect people to come for your status whenever Harus involved, unfortunately for her want for blood, you're pretty fine at public speaking yourself. "Why a civilian dating a rich girl is outragous" "Why it's ironic for you to say such a thing when as soon as Okumura fell you swarmed my poor lover like flies trying to make alliances, really seems like I'm the only one around her without some sort of motive" the person who said that did go whinning to Haru only to be met with a totally not very passive aggressive letter.

shop keepers that know her always flip when they know youre dating. One of their sons did an actual flip too was incredible. But theyre always asking how you two met, sometimes they asked what you like about eatchother and you felt as if Haru was ready to pull out a shopping list over this. "maybe we shouldnt" "no i insist i specialize in these questions" this is also why you usually have flowers in your room or accessories that remind you if her that she totally didn't sneak on while you weren't looking.

They almost never get under your skin, but if they do strike a cord, she'll know. She's already brought a blanket you like as well as snacks. "They're quite cruel because of status" she wrapped the blanket around you "but status is all they have" she scoots closer to you, hugging you. "Please don't worry about it too much if you want we can think of ways to insult them" her smile too warm for that sentence, you embrace her tightly "that sounds fun" "it's great"

hi! i (old-as-the-multiverse, m (probably!)) was hanging out with my friends d (like ummm… actually i forget… my notes say like 500 or something but its felt so much longer lol!!!, m?) and s (27 or something? i remember he was older than the other guy lol (more on that later!!), m) and they like started arguing and for some reason d and s are both individually kind of upset with me about it too haha???

anywayy d and s were yelling at each other after our last fight bcs apparently this one guy spilled a secret d was keeping for like… however long its been since s joined our team idk? basically we were tooootally besties with this alternate version of him but then he died (very sad!!!!! d cried a bunch at his funeral (i think thats the human equivalent) and i think my worstie e was kind of upset by it too???? and hes never upset EVER lol)

but the biiiiig drama was that d never told s and also!!! hes been calling s the dead guys name on occasion (they have different names but theyre still the same guy… actually we’re all sort of the same guy now i think abt it???? oooh i dont think that helps lol) which reeeeeeally made him mad…. actually kind of ds fault ngl i made a note in case i forget (i forget everything!!! so i write it all down) which one he is and ive never forgotten ever! i think! but thats not the part they got mad abt

they got like reeeeeeally mad i didnt say anything about it… but like why would i its literally not my problem??? and like my bestest worstie backed me up on this (well he told me to fuck off lol <3 love that guy) and anyway i was just kind of using them as bg noise sooo it was more like it was just them in the room talking anyway…

i really dont understand why s is so mad (because i literally cant! im preeeetty sure no other versions of me and d are out there and if they are theyre probably not in this multiverse!!!!) but d is kind of being dumb abt it too soooo idk. lol

honestly, Im starting to think Echoes wont be finished. i havent had the want to write it all year and i dont think the first parts are really my best writing. so part of me might even delete and rewrite it if i start getting the vibes to pursue it again.

characterization. i love fanfic because i can use the base of what we know and grow from the tiny details to make fully developed ones. its hard for me to read some fics that the characterization doesnt match what i know from the books without explanation. like its hard for me to see hermione as a sugar baby for money and loves being doted on because i dontt hink that matches her from the books but like if you can explain she gets her strength and independence from manipulating men then im like yes okay im on board.

im awful with commas. everyone else loves them but i forget them so much grammarly is always yelling at me.

Masking quirk obv. Sorry for shitty title lol. My (bronze M) kismesis (jade NB) works in the caverns (duh) and mentioned lately they're looking after a royal blood wiggler with a deformity (they're vague on the details). I've known them to do so in the past but it's only ever been with mid or lowblood wrigglers they randomly get attached to (theyre a big softy I dont know how theyre still alive ngl) and they've stayed under the radar (from what I understand). Usually they keep it in the caverns but apparently they brought this wriggler TO THEIR RESPITEBLOCK. Don't get me wrong, I hate their guts, but I don't want to see them CULLED for TREASON. I said so to them (along with some rather creative cusses) and now they're not talking to me. Our mutual friend (jade F)(who maybe has ashen feelings for us????) says I went too far, which I think is dumb because I mean I didn't do ANYTHING I feel like im basically acting pale rn??? Idk this is stupid as hell (and probably being monitored anyways). Fuck. Am I the fucking asshole??

Where do you stand on shipping Michael and Trevor? Pre-prologue did they have an established relationship, an unlabelled "thing," or just ridiculous romantic tension? How about post-canon?

i flip-flop on where I stand a lot. Especially with the pre-game stuff. I don't think it was ever an established relationship, but there are a lot of little comments in the game that make me think they had something going on between them.

Trevor's attraction towards Michael seems to have been there from the get-go. Lamar jokingly refers to it as "love at first sight" and i dont think he was very far off. When Trevor blew their first robbery together, he was sent to prison for it. By all accounts Michael should've skipped town and continued on his way. But he didnt. He waited for Trevor, a man at this point he hardly knew, and that decision changed Trevor's life irreversibly. I think thats where his infatuation begins.

As for Michael I think the attraction to Trevor comes on slowly. He doesnt realize its happening, and when he does, he makes up excuses for himself so he doesnt have to worry about being a queer. Buddies jerk off together all the time. If your best friend is willing to go a little farther than that and doesn't make it weird in the morning, why not go with it? And if Michael loves him a little, so what? Who doesn't love their best friend. They're Bodhi and Johnny Utah. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid. That's all.

I think they had a good thing going for a while, up until Mandy got pregnant. Then they had an on-and-off thing for years that got more and more volatile as their friendship fell apart.( I wrote like 6 paragraphs about that but it was getting really lengthy so that's a post for another day lol.)

Or maybe they just never acted on it and the farthest they got was weird flirting, drunken three-ways with call girls, or jerking off to the same skin-flick. I can see em' all happening and its a horrible back and forth on my end of which makes the most sense canonically.

No matter what I think they had something really deep and guttural together before the Ludendorff heist

As for post-game i have my realistic idea of what would happen, and my idealistic ideas of what would happen.

Realistically:

Trevor is done pining after Michael. He still loves him, that will never change. But he's done with the heartache. They made up, and they'll hang out from time to time, but Trevor is never going to let his heart be broken by Michael again.

Michael is trying with his family. He wants to make his marriage work. He continues to fuck up, probably still sleeps around from time to time, but he's genuinely trying to stay with Amanda. He doesnt think about his past with Trevor very often, because if Trevor doesnt want to bring it up, neither will he.

They have a strained fucked up friendship, but a friendship nonetheless.

Ideally:

Abso-fucking-lutely. They figure it out. They're a goddamn mess together, but they're happy. They fight like they always do, but at the end of the day they're both trying

(im working on a post about my ending C Trikey thoughts that was supposed to be a reply to iagami a while back. i have so many ideas for a post-C ending for them and most of it is just dumb "lol thatd be funny" type stuff, but a lot of it has genuine thought put into it too. 1. do you prefer pure, innocent romantic interactions or do you prefer obsession and possession? or maybe a mix of both as long as it's relatively healthy and consensual?

ive never really had anyone like me to the point of obsession and possession! but i think id like a mix of both. i like cute and romantic gestures like leaving little flirty love notes or getting flowers or being incorporated into their creative pieces in some manner. there was a girl in high school that liked me that would refuse to leave my side when i was being dumb and isolating myself in the cold. and she'd keep my hands warm with hers. and she'd share an earbud with me and let me listen along with her. i didnt appreciate it back then but it melts my heart reflecting now.

after. my last relationship though. i also want to have zero doubts about the long haul so a little healthy possessiveness would give me a little reassurance! i want to indubitably be someones partner... i like feeling like im theirs and theirs only.

9. what was your longest ever relationship? how and why did it end?

my longest relationship is my first and only. it was ldr and it lasted about 4 and a half years. and i was engaged to them actually. had a nice little intimate christmas proposal in private and everything where i started off with christmas presents and led up to the ring!

in her own words, before she ghosted me, the relationship ended because "nothing has changed between us." she didnt feel like either one of us were growing. despite her finally working and being able to support herself somewhat. and despite me giving all my effort to address our pain points. although a lot of her pain points were nebulous due to fact of them solely involving just how she felt... and of course no matter what a person does, the other will simply feel how they feel. i would assure her that meaningful growth takes time and that measurable growth isnt instantaneous. i feel like she wanted to see her living conditions and her life in general change completely in a short amount of time.

in my own opinion, the relationship started falling apart about halfway through. she reached a point where she said she felt emotionally numb potentially as a result of her meds and couldnt feel intimacy anymore and didnt want to be intimate. i asked her to clarify since physical intimacy isnt my only want in a relationship and isnt even a deal breaker. and she said she wasnt sure. womp womp. despite her saying those things she ended up in bed with one of her university friends/flings. she said that she "just let him share the bed with her since he didnt have a place to sleep and nothing happened between them." and nah i dont quite buy that one bit anymore. especially since her roommate found the need to message me about it. there were a million different solutions she could have went with and she chose the worst one willingfully. at this point i tried breaking up with her or at least go on break. and she more or less guilted me into staying by accusing me of just wanting physical intimacy and sex lol... projecting much... from that point on forward i still put in as much effort as i could muster. but emotionally i was definitely colder. i definitely wasnt as vocal about my love. and then covid hit and the distance became greater. and it looked like it was getting back on track when the travel ban lifted and she stayed with me at my apartment for a month. and i actually believed that it was getting back on track at that point despite feeling uncertainty. and then she drops the break up a few months after blindsiding me.

11. describe your ideal type of romantic interest!!

i love creatives! whether theyre dancers or singers or writers or musicians or artists! i. feel like i have many types... i like confident passionate direct girls... ive been enamored by an architecture major whose hard work was both inspiring and. attractive. i would also put the girl at work i call texas girl in this category. watching her fiddle with components and be determined to resolve issues in any way she can... is attractive. i also like shy quiet. cutesy girls. mellow and sweet. i guess my ideal type would be someone confident and bold and direct... but can also be shy and sweet in private? someone thoughtful and kind. someone thatd make me feel supported and secure and undeniably loved. my love languages are words of affirmation and quality time!!! my romantic interest would be patient and mindful. and we would work as a couple to fix issues instead of shifting blame.

And yea, i think im just not a fan of unnecessary jealousy scenes, which was why i like your fic because even if some type of jealousy was present, it never took away much from willemmy's relationship building outside of it. I also agree with your point about will's potential, because i believe if only pd just gave him more on page time and development, he wouldve been an amazing character. He was so lost, and maybe his stagnant surrounding also amplified it, so why cant we see him doing something else that's opposite to what he had, that could later on add his growth or something? even his vacation and other good things he did before blackchurch took a backseat, they were only mentioned in passing, so we really dont know this "amazing will" that his friends saw, we were only just told about it. So we got the shitty version of him (especially the treating women like shit), and we were expected to like him and be like "oh will, so romantic!" "The best horsemen to treat his woman right" Like where?! 😒 Istg, this particular angle of Nightfall will was so similar to corrupt michael, its such a turn off: The same flaws of michael that i hated in corrupt, especially the almost to no development ON PAGE of misogynistic weak male characters who cant stand up for themselves and their woman then let others treat their women like shit in front of everybody, and pd even had the fucking audacity to write a scene where michael called emmy weak 🙄 (However, Was what michael was true? I think In a certain angle it is, because even emmy had acknowledged that there are somethings she didnt have courage to fight for then because of her situation, but she wasnt a coward in everything. Then we got will who is shit at everything, even at loving emory, because apart from being a jobless and useless character, even as someone who was written to be the MMC of the book, he just sits there in thunder bay on his high horse and complaint in his head here and there like an annoyng insufferrable karen. So these mfs can go f themselves honestly.

One thing about this series that i fcking hate is the men likes to humiliate others and even their women in front of everybody, and then "let" them fight, and rebrand it as "women empowerment". Its 2023 why are MCs still the one to define what women empowerment is? And why do female readers ate them up? Thats why i said, a big reason why the FMCs in this series was treated like shit by their friends is because the horsemen lead them by example. Like hideaway michael learned later to stand up for rika and not let her always gight alone like in corrupt, and afterwards he put banks in her place, kai in fire night for that prank, damon for overcrossing his boundaries etc. at least we see growth, bare minimum but its still there. But nightfall will, oh god, fucking useless, why the fuck was he still around alex after all of that? We never even saw will telling her off to shut the fuck up and go mind her own business. We never even got a sorry from alex. Emmy was better than me because if alex was my friend, i wouldve cut her off from my life, but then emmy was kinda dumb to go back to will without making him apologize and fight for her more too so i guess being dumb is a general theme for this series.

For me personally, i also hate that these men can do whatever they want, but the readers just buy whatever they say, without actually thinking about what they just said and did. The two most laughable quote to me are from damon (others are all from michaelrika lmao) where he said in conclave and nightfall about how he thought hes best around women now and women only dont know how to fight if they were taught. Do i disagree with him? Not fully. But do i hate that Damon was the one to say this? Fuck yeah. I had to laugh because really, damon was suddenly the one to say this? Its more believable if theres a steady character growth for him relating with female presence in his life, but nooo one day hes a villain, and the next hes a feminist 🙄 His stupid switch of personality was so?? unsatisfying to read. And thats the thing, pd wrote all these shitty scenes about shitty men, jumping from one characterisation to another within 24 hours, and still expect us to buy it under the pretense of "going over the edge, feeling everything, doing whatever you want, deal with your shame, dont run away from it". Wow, pd, youre so inspirational! #1 feminist! 🙄😒

Anyway, I think will's character is probably the second most disappointing thing i have to read from the series, with the other 3 horsemen's povs combined being the most disappointing thing about DN. Idk, i think i just hate reading about women-hate in books and unequally matched power couple where one of them is very blatantly weaker (oh on that note, the same goes with winterdamon. Why is damon's partner someone like that??? Shes so stale! Lacking intensty, and I very much agree with your other anon that winter was just so useless outside of damon and being a ballerina, and to me, its not even because she was blind. Theres a lot of amazing things that disabled people can do irl and pd didnt even try to do their research well and make her a more outstanding character. Okay, I was able to see the tiktok this time and I totally get what you’re saying. Will definitely used women to make himself more comfortable and Alex, if that’s who you were imagining when you saw this, shouldn’t feel any type of pride for having “bagged” him. The truth is, both Alex and Will are easy lays who require little to no effort to coax into bed. I mean, I think Will would be loyal to Em once they’re together, but outside of that Will has no guardrails to keep him from doing stupid stuff. Both he and Alex live in the gutter where that’s concerned.

Not sure which fic you’re talking about but I’m assuming it’s No Apologies since that deals with jealousy the most. It was a struggle for me to write because I never thought of Will as an openly jealous person, but again, I’m not any kind of authority on the character and as PD as proven time and again, I have sort of a glorified “but he’s actually better than this” view of him.

That being said, I did feel that he had no right to his jealousy in any way. So I had to (for myself) find a reason to justify it and it seemed the best course to make it about Em lying all the time. Lying about the abuse, lying about her feelings for him, lying about other men touching her, not admitting that she signed that paper even though he knew it was all a crock. She lied, seemingly to protect other people when she should have been worried about him, and that's what he's jealous over. It was the only way I could make it work, because I also don't see the point of a useless or misplaced jealousy plotline!!!

Yeah, exactly! I few asks ago I went off the rails about him because all these little things he does that aren’t really touched on and are sort of glossed over really paint a different picture of him than the one we see on the page. And had any of those traits been brought out more, he could have really shined.

I didn’t really piece this together right away but you’re right. Will during BC and Michael before the Big Twist are very similar. Willing to let their friends hurt the girl they “care about” because their revenge is more important and “it’s what they deserve,” only to find out that their involvement was nothing at all and shouldn’t even be considered. Really need to find a different plot here. Also, as you said, it’s weird that both Michael and Will took the same course of action. They’re two completely different characters, so shouldn’t they have reacted differently to learning of their girl’s “betrayal”? I think I tend to be more forgiving towards Will’s anger (not to be confused with his treatment of Em, just his anger and ability to justify himself), because he loved to such an extreme extend of course he would hate her the same way. His emotions swing from one extreme to the other. Michael was always mean to Rika. His love and hate seem exactly the same to me. But anyway.

there was an anon who had an interesting take on this scene. I’ll link it here. The point was about half-way down. I'm not sure which I tend to think is more believable - Michael actually had a plan with calling Emmy weak, or Michael truly believed her to be weak because she didn't trust them and wanted to hurt her. But I did like that this was a new and different idea.

You bring up an interesting (and frustrating) point, that I think is a lot bigger than this series. Yes, female characters should be able to defend themselves. But does that always have to be through physical violence? It’s annoying that every girl in this series falls in to that trap (except Winter? I can’t remember. Other than her speaking Damon into a sobbing mess, I don’t remember much about her big coming into power moment.). Like, female empowerment can come in so many different expressions. But for some, the physical violence is and coming out of humiliation seemingly unscathed a draw and I don’t begrudge them that.

I would have loved to see Will tell Alex to shut up just once. If PD was going to create a side to take between Alex and Em (even if for a moment), Will should have had to make a choice and he should have taken Em’s side. But instead we had Alex and Will standing together and Em meeting them where they're at. That’s worth a scream, I think.

Yes, since Will and Damon had the most to recover from, I think they should have been the last two in the series. However, Damon’s course to recovery and redemption is a little more predictable than Will’s. Which is why I will always stand by the idea that Damon’s book should have been the series finale and no one will ever change my mind. We should have gotten the chance to see a healthy or recovering Will. A Will at his best, because frankly… we have no idea what that would look like. And moving Damon’s redemption to the end of the series means that we can do a ten-year epilogue where Damon is a healthier version of himself where it didn’t seem like it happened overnight.

I think this probably where we differ the most, because I don’t mind this (that’s probably obvious from the stuff I’ve been posting lately), but only if there is eventually an equalizing of power. We do see that in DNs, it’s just done badly like most stuff in the series. Again, the potential was there. The bones are good. The overall idea is really fun. It’s the execution that trips up most readers, and that’s probably because there are so many other books that take on the same tropes and do something better to a varying degree. Either the revenge plot is better or the friendships are better or the FMC are preferrable. It’s understandable why this series isn’t everyone’s cup of tea when there’s nothing solely original about it. It just happened to combined enough of the things I like for me to discard the things I don’t (most of the time.)

Absolutely correct, and there was that other anon who mentioned diversity and how we couldn’t really expect PD to do extensive research about POC, so going off of that, Winter never stood a chance. I did like that at times she showed her abilities in both hearing sounds others couldn’t pick up and actually hearing the words people say, pulling out things other people would have passed over, but I also feel that PD used her blindness as an excuse for that and had it never occurred to them to make Winter blind, it would have just been another character that did those things because Plot Convenience.

But this does pose the question: what could PD have done with Winter to make her a believable blind character and make her blindness more apart of the story? Because of the action this series tends to lean towards, I always see Winter as a liability. She needs to be led everywhere; I never see her fight. But that assumption isn't really fair to actual blind individuals. What could have been done to make her a good rep?

I don’t know what you mean by family gatherer, but I do like that he’s the mood maker of the crew. People tend to gravitate towards him and trust him for whatever reason. He could have used that to his advantage if he were smarter. I also liked that Will was the only one with family that wasn’t included in the story. It’s clear that Damon has more siblings that just the two we met, but we don’t care about those because it’s so vague. Michael killed his brother, Kai has no siblings. Other than their parents, we know nothing about their extended family. But Will has two brothers, two cousins (one deceased), an uncle, ect. Like he has an actual family outside the group. I don’t know. It’s nice that PD expounded on some of that even though it’s not really relevant.

Someone is recommending books with the line “characters like will grayson” but they’re not exclusively talking about High School/Simp-Supreme Will? Are they insane? That’s clearly the superior Will.

As for your last paragraph, thank you. I do have fun talking and trashing these characters because none of it really matters in the end, right. And I do try to create a space where people can sound off whatever things frustrated them, or things they liked about the series, without worrying they’ll be judged or laughed at for it. There’s no reason the fandom can’t be a place for people to enjoy, even if that means pointing out very real flaws with the material and still be heard.

letters are important for me I remember the first (silly) thing I wrote to you, it felt like a "this is the only ever moment you can show it" thats why I had let you read I was in nervous an in a blinded deny , but I can see now I was shaking! I was in deny, stupidly denied but when I feel that I have a ONLY A CHANCE in life to do something, I just DO IT! because I belive that thats what life is about. if someone had told me that " dont worry, you will see each other again" probably I will never have left you read that silly thing thanks to god, I know you already forgot the silly thing im talking about.
